Latest / Midnight Movie Theatre / Scream Franchise Ranking
Transcript
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's time to rank the Scream franchise. Seven movies in
- 0:23Speaker 1: seven months. We did it. We watched them all, we
- 0:26Speaker 1: saw how each one stacks up against the other. And
- 0:29Speaker 1: this is going to be the most accurate ranking on
- 0:32Speaker 1: the entire internet, coming in at dead last number seven.
- 0:35Speaker 1: If you couldn't guess, if you saw my last video,
- 0:38Speaker 1: you probably maybe know what to expect right here. Scream
- 0:42Speaker 1: six is going to be dead last. For me. That's
- 0:44Speaker 1: the worst Scream movie out of all of them. The
- 0:47Speaker 1: thing that really does it is the ending scene. I
- 0:49Speaker 1: made a whole video breaking down the ending scene and
- 0:52Speaker 1: why that fucking scene sucks. Go watch that video. If
- 0:55Speaker 1: you don't understand my hate for Scream six. There are
- 0:58Speaker 1: other reasons too. One of the things that I haven't
- 1:00Speaker 1: mentioned too much is Melissa Brera's acting in five and
- 1:05Speaker 1: six honestly knocks both those movies down. For me, I
- 1:08Speaker 1: feel like she is on par with gal Gado as
- 1:11Speaker 1: far as her acting abilities go. I'm glad she's getting
- 1:14Speaker 1: a lot of support right now for being fired from
- 1:16Speaker 1: the movies and whatnot. That's great. I think she you
- 1:20Speaker 1: know should, I think she deserves it. But her acting
- 1:23Speaker 1: is kind of dog shit in these movies. I haven't
- 1:25Speaker 1: watched any other movies with her in it, so maybe
- 1:28Speaker 1: it's maybe she's gotten better. I don't know, maybe these
- 1:31Speaker 1: are just kind of a one off thing, maybe a
- 1:33Speaker 1: fluke for but I couldn't help think like, damn, they
- 1:37Speaker 1: should have just they should have just forked out the
- 1:39Speaker 1: money for gal Gado to play Sam Carpenter in these
- 1:42Speaker 1: goddamn movies. Other than that, though, I mean, the first
- 1:45Speaker 1: part of the movies all right, I like the opener
- 1:47Speaker 1: and Scream six. I don't think it's necessarily even a
- 1:50Speaker 1: bad movie. I just hate the fucking ending. I think
- 1:52Speaker 1: the ending makes it a bad movie, which kind of sucks,
- 1:55Speaker 1: because other than that, it would have been pretty good
- 1:57Speaker 1: even if they would have just had like a you know,
- 1:59Speaker 1: the same dog shit ending. But maybe just make it
- 2:02Speaker 1: make a little more sense, or maybe make the characters
- 2:05Speaker 1: act a little more normal, I guess, I don't know, realistic,
- 2:09Speaker 1: like not turn into a crazy fucking clown show at
- 2:11Speaker 1: the end. That just really ruins the whole movie for me.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Coming in at number six is going to be Scream five.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And actually I like this one a lot more than
- 2:20Speaker 1: I did the first time around watching it. I feel
- 2:23Speaker 1: like This movie has a lot of potential. It does
- 2:25Speaker 1: have some really cool scenes and some really effective kills,
- 2:28Speaker 1: as the dew We kill, which I think immediately makes
- 2:30Speaker 1: this one a little bit more serious as far as
- 2:33Speaker 1: that goes. The overall tone of this movie is pretty serious.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I would say it's one of the less like goofy
- 2:39Speaker 1: scream movies for sure. It does have a lot of
- 2:41Speaker 1: really unrealistic scenarios that I don't see. I mean, I
- 2:44Speaker 1: see some people bitching about them, but I saw some
- 2:47Speaker 1: people bitching about like similar scenes in Scream seven, like oh,
- 2:51Speaker 1: this dumb shit when it ever happened. But there's like
- 2:53Speaker 1: the hospital scene in Scream five that I thought was
- 2:56Speaker 1: it just was fucking stupid because it's like they put
- 2:59Speaker 1: Tara in a floor by herself with like you know,
- 3:04Speaker 1: one cop or something and no nurses or some shit,
- 3:06Speaker 1: and it's just like, yeah, I just don't think that
- 3:08Speaker 1: would happen. Just doesn't seem very realistic for that to
- 3:11Speaker 1: happen and leave her to be somewhat vulnerable and this, uh,
- 3:15Speaker 1: you know, this hospital floor basically by herself with all
- 3:19Speaker 1: the lights turned off. That other thing, why are all
- 3:21Speaker 1: the lights off at this fucking hospital? Or are they
- 3:23Speaker 1: saving on the electric bill or something fucking doesn't make
- 3:26Speaker 1: any sense. The other one is like when the when
- 3:29Speaker 1: the cop when her son's getting killed, and she like
- 3:32Speaker 1: drives off and then she gets a call from ghost
- 3:34Speaker 1: Face and he's like, yeah, I'm actually at your fucking house.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna kill your son right now. And she's just like,
- 3:39Speaker 1: oh damn, and she whips a U turn and it
- 3:40Speaker 1: takes her forever to fucking get there, and it's like
- 3:43Speaker 1: she just drove away. She shouldn't be that far away. Also, like,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you know, hang up the damn phone with ghost Face,
- 3:48Speaker 1: call the cops, tell him to come to your house
- 3:50Speaker 1: and stuff like that. I can't really I think she
- 3:52Speaker 1: might do that or something, but it just seems like
- 3:55Speaker 1: that whole that whole situation felt a little silly to me.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Coming in at number five is going to be Scream
- 4:01Speaker 1: three and this one in screen five are probably going
- 4:04Speaker 1: to be tied, in my opinion, Like they're so different
- 4:07Speaker 1: stylistically though that it's hard to compare them two it all,
- 4:11Speaker 1: But this one I think I like it just a
- 4:14Speaker 1: little bit more than Screen five, maybe because it focuses
- 4:17Speaker 1: more on the original group and I just tend to
- 4:20Speaker 1: like those movies better. This one feels a lot more
- 4:23Speaker 1: like a Scooby Doo story than a Scream story, which
- 4:26Speaker 1: definitely threw me off the first time I watched it
- 4:28Speaker 1: and made me not really like it very much. But
- 4:31Speaker 1: this time around I actually did like it quite a bit.
- 4:33Speaker 1: The kills are pretty tame compared to the other movies,
- 4:36Speaker 1: except for maybe the opener. The opener is pretty intense
- 4:39Speaker 1: with Cotton weary and his girlfriend or wife or whatever.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So other than that, though, I think this one was
- 4:45Speaker 1: intentionally supposed to be a little less violent. I think
- 4:49Speaker 1: because of the Columbine shooting and stuff like that that
- 4:51Speaker 1: affected a lot of shit around that time, a lot
- 4:53Speaker 1: of movies, a lot of music slim, you know, the
- 4:58Speaker 1: real slim, shady Marilyn Manson, you remember. The characters feel
- 5:01Speaker 1: a lot sillier, and it just feels a little less
- 5:04Speaker 1: serious overall. Maybe it's the stuff like the Jane Silent
- 5:07Speaker 1: Bob cameo or the Princess Leia cameo or whatever of
- 5:12Speaker 1: it all. Or maybe it's the Randy's rules scene that
- 5:15Speaker 1: was pre recorded on VHS for his sister Martha to
- 5:18Speaker 1: deliver to the main characters. You know, just to let
- 5:21Speaker 1: them know everybody's really missing you. In Woods Burrow, all
- 5:25Speaker 1: that stuff just feels a little off. It feels more
- 5:27Speaker 1: of like a parody in a lot of ways than
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think it needs to. One thing that I think
- 5:33Speaker 1: they should probably change going forward in the screen movies,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and they're kind of laid on it already because they've
- 5:38Speaker 1: been doing it at every movie every anyway. But I
- 5:41Speaker 1: think they can go ahead and cut out the Randy's
- 5:43Speaker 1: rules in the movies. I think it's fun when they
- 5:46Speaker 1: go over who they think the suspects are and stuff
- 5:49Speaker 1: like that, because that does seem necessary. But when they
- 5:52Speaker 1: always shoehorn in Randy's rules just as like, just to
- 5:56Speaker 1: you know, just for the fans, just for the tradition
- 5:58Speaker 1: or whatever, it feels it takes me out of the
- 6:01Speaker 1: movie a little bit at this point. Randy's rules in
- 6:03Speaker 1: one and two are great. I don't hate the actual
- 6:06Speaker 1: rules that Randy goes over, and Scream three, I just
- 6:09Speaker 1: hate the delivery of it. I actually don't hate it
- 6:11Speaker 1: that much in Scream three, to be honest, I think
- 6:14Speaker 1: that's the last one that should have it. Though. After
- 6:16Speaker 1: Scream three, we don't need Randy's rules anymore. We don't
- 6:19Speaker 1: need to go over the rules again. We get it, Okay,
- 6:22Speaker 1: everybody knows what's going on now. The best thing about
- 6:25Speaker 1: Scream three, the thing that I think will always make
- 6:28Speaker 1: this movie rewatchable, is Parker Posey and Parker Posey and
- 6:34Speaker 1: Courtney Cox. They make Scream three the best Gale Weathers
- 6:38Speaker 1: movie of all time. Like, if you're going, if you're
- 6:40Speaker 1: a huge Gale Weathers fan and you just want to
- 6:42Speaker 1: watch a Gale Weather's stanathon, start out with Scream three.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It's the best for sure. Coming in at number four
- 6:49Speaker 1: is going to be the newly released Scream seven, the
- 6:52Speaker 1: box office hit. What are we doing here? Guys? I
- 6:55Speaker 1: think it was like ninety five million dollars internationally, and
- 6:58Speaker 1: I keep seeing reports of, like, oh, the set second weekend,
- 7:00Speaker 1: though now it's tanking. It's like, I don't think they
- 7:03Speaker 1: give a fuck anymore. They've already you know, it was
- 7:05Speaker 1: like a forty five million dollar budget. They've almost doubled
- 7:08Speaker 1: that in the first weekend. I think they're going to
- 7:10Speaker 1: be Okay. I could see this one shifting around a
- 7:13Speaker 1: little bit more as time goes on. Maybe it doesn't
- 7:16Speaker 1: hold up as well as some of the others on
- 7:18Speaker 1: a rewatch. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Though.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Pardon the interruption, folks, I just wanted to clarify that
- 7:24Speaker 1: the segment that I'm going into is about how the
- 7:26Speaker 1: opener for Scream seven is the weakest in the franchise.
- 7:30Speaker 1: For whatever reason, that section was cut out of the video.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I just wanted to explain that so it didn't sound
- 7:35Speaker 1: like you were stepping into a big pile of word shit.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Thanks enjoy. The rest of the video stand out to me,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and I was kind of like, damn, we couldn't have
- 7:43Speaker 1: done anything better than that, Like, it didn't make a
- 7:46Speaker 1: lot of sense to me. It doesn't really affect anything
- 7:48Speaker 1: later on in the movie either. It just just feels
- 7:51Speaker 1: a little weird. They could have done something different, for sure,
- 7:55Speaker 1: even if it was something as simple as like one
- 7:57Speaker 1: of Tatum's friends getting killed or one of the students
- 8:00Speaker 1: that goes to the same school as Tatum getting killed,
- 8:03Speaker 1: similar to like the Scream four opener in a way,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know what I mean, just to like feel a
- 8:08Speaker 1: little bit closer to home. I think it's like the
- 8:10Speaker 1: kill happens in California and Sydney's in Indiana at this point,
- 8:14Speaker 1: so it's like, yeah, I get that it's, you know,
- 8:16Speaker 1: at the Stumacher replica house or I wasn't sure if
- 8:19Speaker 1: that it was supposed to be the actual Stumacher house
- 8:22Speaker 1: or if it was supposed to be a replica they
- 8:24Speaker 1: I didn't really catch that. I guess when I watched
- 8:26Speaker 1: it the first time. Maybe I will learn some shit
- 8:29Speaker 1: whent on a rewatch with this one. But either way,
- 8:32Speaker 1: that just seemed a little bit out of the blue
- 8:34Speaker 1: the way they did that shit. Yeah, overall, as far
- 8:37Speaker 1: as the reveal goes, I think there's only like two
- 8:39Speaker 1: Screen movies that I actually think have a good reveal,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and I think it's one in four for me. Those
- 8:46Speaker 1: are the two movies that I think actually have a
- 8:48Speaker 1: good reveal. The rest of them are just kind of
- 8:50Speaker 1: like lackluster in my opinion. I guess we'll get into
- 8:53Speaker 1: it more as we go on through this damn list,
- 8:55Speaker 1: if you know what I'm saying. Number three is going
- 8:59Speaker 1: to be screened two. The second Screen movie came out
- 9:02Speaker 1: one year after the first Scream movie. I think that
- 9:05Speaker 1: might be why this one doesn't hold up as much
- 9:07Speaker 1: for me. I think they should have taken a little
- 9:10Speaker 1: bit more time with Scream two and overall, I really
- 9:14Speaker 1: like this movie as a scream movie, honestly, like as
- 9:18Speaker 1: a standalone slasher, I'm not gonna lie. I don't really
- 9:21Speaker 1: like this one as of who done it. Like I said,
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's not on my list of good reveals, and that's
- 9:26Speaker 1: probably one of my biggest pet peeves with this one.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I guess it's the Billy Loomis mom reveal, the Debbie
- 9:32Speaker 1: Salt reveal. Where she's been, you know, following around all
- 9:36Speaker 1: the murders and stuff, and you know, kissing Gale Weather's
- 9:39Speaker 1: ass left and right, but she never bumps into Cindy,
- 9:44Speaker 1: but she never bumps into Sydney, and somehow doesn't get
- 9:47Speaker 1: noticed by anybody as Billy Loomis's mom, even though you
- 9:50Speaker 1: know there's quite a few people from Woodsborough here in
- 9:53Speaker 1: this movie, and you think one of them would maybe
- 9:55Speaker 1: be like, hey, fuck, isn't that Billy Loomis's goddamn mom
- 9:58Speaker 1: or something looks just like as and she's but she's like,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, I lost a bunch of weight and I
- 10:03Speaker 1: had some plastic surgery done. It's like, yeah, I guess,
- 10:06Speaker 1: I guess, So I guess that's believable enough. And then
- 10:09Speaker 1: the macky reveal just kind of fucking sucks to me,
- 10:11Speaker 1: like the whole Like, I found this serial killer off
- 10:14Speaker 1: of Reddit to help me fucking do the murders, and
- 10:17Speaker 1: it's like, nice, that sucks, but probably a lot of
- 10:19Speaker 1: better ways. Even if it was Billy's mom and dad,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I know they're like split up or whatever, but their
- 10:25Speaker 1: son just got murdered a year ago. I could see
- 10:28Speaker 1: that bringing them back together and then both being a
- 10:30Speaker 1: part of it, you know what I mean. The random
- 10:32Speaker 1: guy just seems kind of fucking dumb. Also, Mickey just
- 10:35Speaker 1: seems really suspicious throughout the whole movie, and it's like,
- 10:38Speaker 1: I don't know, he just does overall, those Scream two
- 10:41Speaker 1: a ton of memorable scenes, some really great kills. The
- 10:44Speaker 1: opening scene is amazing. The original cast is always going
- 10:48Speaker 1: to be the best for me, so it helps the
- 10:49Speaker 1: movie out a lot. I think this one does have
- 10:52Speaker 1: probably my favorite suspect list slash Randy's rules scene. Whenever
- 10:56Speaker 1: he's talking to Dewey and the stab trailer is playing,
- 11:00Speaker 1: they play the stab trailer in the background and all that.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I just think that's a really great scene, probably my
- 11:05Speaker 1: favorite scene in the whole movie, and that one does
- 11:07Speaker 1: have a lot of other really good scenes, like the
- 11:09Speaker 1: Gail and Dewey scenes where they're getting a little bit
- 11:13Speaker 1: romantic and stuff like that and they're viewing the footage
- 11:16Speaker 1: that the cameraman was shooting throughout the movie. I like
- 11:19Speaker 1: that scene a lot too. And this one of the
- 11:21Speaker 1: thing that knocks it down for me is that it's
- 11:23Speaker 1: a I mean, it's pretty well a rinse and repeat
- 11:26Speaker 1: overall of like the first Screen movie. Other than it's
- 11:29Speaker 1: just like, now we're in college. That's cool, Welcome to college, everyone,
- 11:33Speaker 1: we got college stuff going on. I like the a
- 11:36Speaker 1: cappella scene, singing scene in the cafeteria. I just think
- 11:39Speaker 1: that's a good choice for any nineties movie, to be honest.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Number two, my second favorite Scream movie is going to
- 11:46Speaker 1: be Scream four. If you haven't figured that out already.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I think it's one of the two movies. Like I said,
- 11:51Speaker 1: with a solid reveal, I had kind of heard about
- 11:54Speaker 1: the reveal before I saw it. This is actually one
- 11:56Speaker 1: of the screen I stopped watching the Screen movies after
- 11:59Speaker 1: Scream three. I didn't like Scream three, and I had
- 12:02Speaker 1: just heard from word of mouth that Scream four was
- 12:04Speaker 1: bad when it came out so I was like, I'm
- 12:06Speaker 1: not gonna waste my time seeing this shit. I think
- 12:08Speaker 1: I'm done with the Scream movies. So I didn't see
- 12:11Speaker 1: Scream four until like a couple of years ago, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: when I did, I really liked it. It had a
- 12:15Speaker 1: lot of the charm that the first one had. This
- 12:18Speaker 1: is the first and maybe only one that I think
- 12:20Speaker 1: the new characters are actually enjoyable in. I'm not a
- 12:23Speaker 1: fan of the new characters and basically all the movies
- 12:26Speaker 1: except for I liked some of the new characters in
- 12:29Speaker 1: Scream seven. Actually, I thought Tatum was good and I
- 12:32Speaker 1: thought Sidney's husband was good. So that's another plus for
- 12:35Speaker 1: Scream seven for me. I guess yeah. This was the
- 12:38Speaker 1: only other one that I thought the characters that they
- 12:40Speaker 1: added worked really well. You know, God, damn, what's her name?
- 12:44Speaker 1: I can never think of her name. We got Kirby
- 12:46Speaker 1: who ended up becoming a hanger on in the franchise
- 12:49Speaker 1: that we see come back later in Scream six, so
- 12:52Speaker 1: I thought that was great. Emma Roberts is great in it.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I love the reveal when she just goes batshit crazy
- 12:57Speaker 1: at the end and starts whooping her own ass. I
- 12:59Speaker 1: thought that was fantastic. It's the only reveal other than
- 13:03Speaker 1: the first one that I feel like her acting that
- 13:06Speaker 1: nuts is deserved and she does a good job with it. Really,
- 13:09Speaker 1: there's no other reveals that I enjoyed as much as one.
- 13:14Speaker 1: In four, I didn't even talk about Roman Bridgers and
- 13:17Speaker 1: Scream three. I don't. I'm not a fan of Roman Bridgers.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of people that would consider
- 13:22Speaker 1: him the best ghost face and stuff like that, because
- 13:24Speaker 1: he killed the most people and whatever, and he supposedly
- 13:27Speaker 1: started the whole thing off by convincing Billy to do
- 13:31Speaker 1: the shit that he did. But I'm not a Roman
- 13:34Speaker 1: Bridgers fan. He just comes off as like a whiny
- 13:36Speaker 1: little pussy to me, honestly, when he's like talking to
- 13:39Speaker 1: Sydney and stuff like that. And even before I didn't
- 13:42Speaker 1: like him before the reveal either, like when he's playing
- 13:45Speaker 1: his character as the director and stuff like that, he
- 13:47Speaker 1: just seems like a little bitch. Yeah, Roman Bridges just
- 13:50Speaker 1: kind of comes off as like a little shit eating
- 13:52Speaker 1: baby to me. Fuck him, Fuck him in his stupid ass.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Fuck Roman Bridgers in the ass. Okay, So anyway back
- 13:59Speaker 1: to Scream or really like it. I think the opener
- 14:02Speaker 1: is great with all the fake outs. For anyone that
- 14:04Speaker 1: didn't like Scream three, I feel like this one is
- 14:06Speaker 1: a good rebound. The stakes feel high again. The whole
- 14:09Speaker 1: ending sequence is great, and like I said, I enjoy
- 14:12Speaker 1: the fake out opener. I don't know if it's the
- 14:14Speaker 1: second best opener though I would probably put Screen two
- 14:17Speaker 1: there as the second best opener in my opinion, but
- 14:20Speaker 1: it is one of the better ones overall, I would say.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And the number one Scream movie is Scream Scream one
- 14:26Speaker 1: from nineteen ninety six. It's the top dog. It just
- 14:29Speaker 1: has the best cast, the best esthetic overall, and rewatching
- 14:33Speaker 1: this one just feels like peak nineties nostalgia. You have
- 14:36Speaker 1: the soap opera is high school drama of it all
- 14:39Speaker 1: mixed in with a pretty brutal slasher and it's a
- 14:43Speaker 1: good who done it overall. Like the first time watching
- 14:46Speaker 1: this one, it feels almost too obvious who it's going
- 14:48Speaker 1: to be and then what it is. I feel like
- 14:50Speaker 1: it's just it works for whatever reason, it just really works.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Not to mention the best cold open of all of
- 14:57Speaker 1: these movies and one of the best of all time,
- 14:59Speaker 1: really the best cold opens. I feel like it would
- 15:02Speaker 1: have to hit maybe like the top ten. I don't know,
- 15:04Speaker 1: I haven't really thought about the best cold openers or whatever,
- 15:07Speaker 1: but this one is so iconic with Drew Barrymore, the
- 15:10Speaker 1: phone call, super super creepy, and it really like lays
- 15:14Speaker 1: the foundation for the rest of these movies honestly, almost
- 15:17Speaker 1: too well, where I feel like they should have started
- 15:20Speaker 1: veering away from this almost instantly. I feel like Scream
- 15:24Speaker 1: two would have been better off doing something like almost
- 15:26Speaker 1: completely different. But you know, I feel like that's in hindsight,
- 15:30Speaker 1: really Scream two worked amazingly as like a follow up
- 15:34Speaker 1: to this movie though at the time, but in hindsight,
- 15:37Speaker 1: it feels like they kind of started spinning their wheels
- 15:39Speaker 1: and doing a lot of the same stuff that the
- 15:42Speaker 1: first one did over and over again, and it's like, yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I get it. You want to make the money, you
- 15:47Speaker 1: want to do the Scream thing and just make the
- 15:49Speaker 1: damn money and get Sydney in there and whooping some ass,
- 15:52Speaker 1: and you know, that's great. That makes sense to that,
- 15:55Speaker 1: But I kind of feel like I wish they would
- 15:57Speaker 1: have thrown in a little bit more, some more original
- 15:59Speaker 1: idea is into the franchise, especially at this point or
- 16:02Speaker 1: maybe even just some more unique characters. I feel like
- 16:05Speaker 1: one of the things about the new characters they usually
- 16:08Speaker 1: add in, they just kind of feel like the other
- 16:10Speaker 1: characters from the other movies in a lot of ways,
- 16:13Speaker 1: Like they kind of feel like, oh, this is supposed
- 16:15Speaker 1: to be like the new version of this character, and
- 16:17Speaker 1: so on, you know what I mean. Really, it would
- 16:20Speaker 1: be great if they had some curveballs in there, some
- 16:22Speaker 1: really wacky characters or something that really threw the whole
- 16:26Speaker 1: thing off, you know. But I feel like these movies
- 16:28Speaker 1: do play it pretty safe as far as a lot
- 16:30Speaker 1: of that stuff goes. As far as the reveals, the writing.
- 16:33Speaker 1: That is something else that I think I just kind
- 16:35Speaker 1: of discovered after watching all these movies in a row.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I also watched a bunch of Kevin Williamson movies. In
- 16:42Speaker 1: the middle of this. I watched Cursed, Teaching Missus Tingle,
- 16:45Speaker 1: and The Faculty all around the same time that I
- 16:49Speaker 1: was finishing up the middle of the Scream series, I believe,
- 16:52Speaker 1: And it was really interesting because a lot of those
- 16:54Speaker 1: movies felt like they had the same formula as Scream,
- 16:58Speaker 1: especially The Faculty and Cursed, I would say, kind of
- 17:02Speaker 1: feels in a lot of ways like a Scream movie,
- 17:04Speaker 1: Like it feels like a werewolf who done it? You
- 17:06Speaker 1: know what I mean? So that was it was interesting
- 17:09Speaker 1: to see that and kind of be like, Okay, Kevin
- 17:12Speaker 1: Williamson is great. I don't really have anything bad to
- 17:14Speaker 1: say about Kevin Williamson or do I know fuck other
- 17:18Speaker 1: than Teaching Missus Tingle, go watch that fucking movie. It's
- 17:21Speaker 1: like kicking the nuts. It's like getting woke up to
- 17:24Speaker 1: a bunch of spiders eating your fucking eyes. Watching Teaching
- 17:27Speaker 1: Missus Tingle is like waking up to a couple of
- 17:29Speaker 1: little rats eating your nipples and then shitting them out
- 17:32Speaker 1: and feeding them into Yeah, Scream, Scream does a great job. Obviously,
- 17:36Speaker 1: we can't mention Scream without talking about Wes Craven. I
- 17:39Speaker 1: feel like this is another one of his just incredibly
- 17:42Speaker 1: iconic movies where his directing style is seems fairly straightforward,
- 17:47Speaker 1: but it really works for this movie as well as
- 17:49Speaker 1: A Nightmare on Elm Street. And I mean, I don't know,
- 17:52Speaker 1: He's got a ton of great movies, The People Under
- 17:53Speaker 1: the Stairs and you know, Last House on the Left.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Although I'm not a big fan of the Last House
- 17:58Speaker 1: on the Left of really I think it was kind
- 18:01Speaker 1: of like one of those things where it's like the
- 18:03Speaker 1: right movie at the right time to have an impact
- 18:05Speaker 1: on the horror genre. But overall, I just I don't
- 18:08Speaker 1: really care for that movie too much. But yeah, Scream
- 18:11Speaker 1: it does a great job feeling heavy right off the bat.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Those first two kills in the opener are unforgettable. I mean,
- 18:17Speaker 1: especially with Casey's parents coming home and the way that
- 18:21Speaker 1: her mom is wailing and stuff like that. It just
- 18:24Speaker 1: really hits you in the gut. And after that the
- 18:27Speaker 1: movie is just amazing. We get this awesome cast, these
- 18:30Speaker 1: great characters. You can't beat it. It's got to be
- 18:33Speaker 1: one of the best nineties slashers of all time. I
- 18:36Speaker 1: don't think it's really up for debate, or is it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So that's my ranking for the Scream franchise. If I
- 18:43Speaker 1: hope you enjoyed this, I hope you. If you did,
