- 0:05Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Terror and tragedy overseas hitting close to home this afternoon.
- 0:15Speaker 2: An American citizen among 12 people killed after a Houthi
- 0:18Speaker 2: missile attack in the airport in the capital of Saudi Arabia.
- 0:23Speaker 2: And with that, we welcome you to Fox News Live.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm Kevin Cork in New York. President Trump saying the U.S.
- 0:27Speaker 2: could now join Saudi Arabia in retaliatory strikes against the
- 0:31Speaker 2: Iranian-backed group. Let's get right to it with Chief Foreign
- 0:33Speaker 2: Affairs Correspondent Trey Yinks. She is live in Tel Aviv,
- 0:38Speaker 2: 4th this afternoon.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Hey, Trey.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Kevin, good afternoon.
- 0:41Speaker 3: At least 12 people are dead and more than 300
- 0:44Speaker 3: injured after the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen launched a missile
- 0:49Speaker 3: at a Saudi airport on Sunday. The target of that attack,
- 0:53Speaker 3: the King Khalid International Airport. We do know one of
- 0:56Speaker 3: those ballistic missiles slammed into Terminal 3 as it was
- 0:59Speaker 3: packed with passengers, first responders rushing to the scene and
- 1:03Speaker 3: ambulances and helicopters evacuating many of the hundreds who were injured.
- 1:07Speaker 3: This was the second such attack in just 48 hours
- 1:09Speaker 3: and does raise questions about if the United States could
- 1:12Speaker 3: come to the defense of Saudi Arabia and launch a
- 1:14Speaker 3: new round of strikes against this Iranian proxy group. Have
- 1:21Speaker 3: you decided whether.
- 1:22Speaker 1: To join the Saudi strikes? We may. We're going to
- 1:24Speaker 1: look at it. How soon?
- 1:25Speaker 2: We just found out about the recent attack, so we'll
- 1:29Speaker 2: make a decision.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We move very quickly.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Condemnation for the attack is poured in from world leaders
- 1:35Speaker 3: and officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said
- 1:38Speaker 3: in a statement, the United States strongly condemns the recent
- 1:41Speaker 3: attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by terrorist Houthis,
- 1:44Speaker 3: including today's strike on King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh
- 1:48Speaker 3: that took numerous innocent lives, including an American citizen. reprehensible
- 1:53Speaker 3: attacks demonstrate a blatant disregard for innocent civilian life. Rubio
- 1:57Speaker 3: goes on to say they must stop now. We stand
- 1:59Speaker 3: with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people and
- 2:02Speaker 3: extend our condolences to the victims and their families. And
- 2:05Speaker 3: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added this, saying on behalf
- 2:08Speaker 3: of the people of Israel, I extend our deepest condolences
- 2:11Speaker 3: to the families of those murdered and our wishes for
- 2:14Speaker 3: a full recovery to the injured. Still, the Houthis are
- 2:16Speaker 3: continuing to issue new threats. A spokesperson for the group
- 2:20Speaker 3: warned foreign airlines against using Saudi airspace or airports as
- 2:24Speaker 3: the conflict escalates. The question now is how Saudi Arabia
- 2:27Speaker 3: will respond and if the United States could be involved.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Kevin.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Trey Yanks for us. Thank you, Trey. Appreciate that. Stay safe.
- 2:34Speaker 2: For more now on the deadly attack and what comes next,
- 2:37Speaker 2: let's bring in the Foreign Desk Editor-in-Chief Lisa Deftari. Lisa,
- 2:42Speaker 2: this actually broke overnight. A lot of people were sadly
- 2:46Speaker 2: not surprised because this is part and parcel to what
- 2:49Speaker 2: the regime continues to do. They continue to foment discord
- 2:52Speaker 2: throughout the region and supporting the Houthi rebels. What can
- 2:55Speaker 2: you tell us from your perspective happens moving forward?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Right. So now the Trump administration has three options. Right.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So we either continue to give the Saudis intel and
- 3:05Speaker 1: support from the sidelines. We join in targeted strikes against
- 3:10Speaker 1: just the Houthis. among other proxy groups. We just focus
- 3:14Speaker 1: on that for right now. And lastly, we continue or
- 3:17Speaker 1: we re-engage in military warfare against Iran's regime, which is
- 3:21Speaker 1: to get to the center of the problem, the last
- 3:23Speaker 1: of which is probably not going to happen before the midterms.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And that's exactly the calculation of the Iran regime. We
- 3:29Speaker 1: knew they would try to escalate somehow, to instigate, to
- 3:33Speaker 1: continue to provoke the United States because they know we're
- 3:37Speaker 1: up against the midterms. But a pause on bombs is
- 3:40Speaker 1: not a pause on pressure. The Trump administration must continue
- 3:44Speaker 1: the pressure campaign that has worked tremendously well. Secretary Besant's sanctions,
- 3:49Speaker 1: the economic pressure, the blockade, all of it remains in place.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The deterrence remains in place. And Donald Trump continues this
- 3:56Speaker 1: very hard line of walking and chewing gum at the
- 3:59Speaker 1: same time, establishing that deterrence, keeping that rhetoric very strong.
- 4:04Speaker 1: All of these attacks go on the tally of the
- 4:07Speaker 1: Iran regime, which he will get to after the midterms.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And in the meantime, he reassures the Americans that this
- 4:14Speaker 1: Iran war will come to an end very, very soon
- 4:17Speaker 1: and that it should not affect them when they go
- 4:18Speaker 1: to the polls.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Some have suggested, Lisa, that there is a bit of
- 4:22Speaker 2: hesitance from the administration's perspective and sort of joining in.
- 4:26Speaker 2: This is Saudi Arabia's circumstance, not our circumstance, and yet
- 4:30Speaker 2: they are critical partners in the region. Tell me what
- 4:33Speaker 2: the calculus is now with respect to possibly becoming more involved.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Right. And we do not want there to be daylight
- 4:40Speaker 1: between us and Saudi Arabia or our Persian Gulf allies.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Arab state partners in all of this. That's exactly, again,
- 4:46Speaker 1: the calculation, the strategy, the timing, all of this based
- 4:49Speaker 1: on the Iran regime. They want to escalate with our
- 4:53Speaker 1: partners so that our partners put pressure on the United
- 4:56Speaker 1: States to stop this war. But this must be approached
- 5:00Speaker 1: in a holistic fashion. All of the proxies, every time,
- 5:05Speaker 1: whether Hamas or Hezbollah or the Houthis, every time you
- 5:08Speaker 1: see one of these attacks on your screen, understand that
- 5:11Speaker 1: this is five years of the same tactic of using
- 5:15Speaker 1: their proxies so that there's no fingerprints by the Iran regime,
- 5:18Speaker 1: so that they can continue out spreading their ideology, spreading
- 5:22Speaker 1: their brand of Shiite Islam. The original Islamic State, it's them.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And they will continue to do this. So any deal,
- 5:30Speaker 1: any letting them off the hook, any lack of pressure, any, again,
- 5:34Speaker 1: signing deal, giving them money, all of that money will
- 5:36Speaker 1: go right back into this. More American casualties, more warfare
- 5:40Speaker 1: in the region. This is our war as well, whether
- 5:43Speaker 1: it is on Saudi or on Kuwait or on Iraq
- 5:47Speaker 1: or on Syria. This is what we have seen for decades.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And that's why we have had American casualties in those places,
- 5:53Speaker 1: because they are targeting us. all of us. Anyone who
- 5:56Speaker 1: does not fold under their brand of Shiite Islam is
- 5:59Speaker 1: a target.
- 6:00Speaker 2: 47 years and counting, the regime continues to do just that.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Lisa Deftari for us. Thank you. Appreciate your time this weekend.
