- 0:00Aloha. Friday morning in Hawaiʻi. I'm Mele with what's happening across the islands today.
- 1:30Weather feed is offline this morning — check the forecast page for the latest on wind and rain across the islands.
- 1:35Surf is small on the south shores — Waikiki at 3.9 feet, Kāʻanapali at 3 feet, both safe for swimmers and beginner snorkelers. The north shore is picking up: Waimea at 4.5 feet with shore break and rip currents to watch for. Kauaʻi's north shore is moderate at 5.4 feet. The Big Island's Hapuna is glass-calm at 1.6 feet.
- 1:51At Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, Kīpukapuaulu Trail is closed due to hazardous trees, and the Lava Tube Bridge is under replacement. Kīlauea is at advisory status with volcanic ash present in the area — bring a mask if you're heading up. Everything else across the islands is operating normally.
- 2:07We just posted a visitor's urgent care guide covering what to do when a health issue hits your vacation — urgent care versus ER, where to find help on each island, pharmacies, and what to pack. It's practical stuff you hope you don't need but should know before you land. If you're looking further ahead, late August is shaping up as one of the quietest visitor windows — lighter crowds, easier hotel bookings, and the snorkel water through September sits at its calmest of the year.

- 2:35If the north shore is calling, our Waimea Bay guide breaks down safety when the swell picks up. Talk to you tomorrow.
