Transcript
- 0:30What is going on, everybody?
- 0:32Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:35My name is Scott.
- 0:37I'm the Clydesdale.
- 0:38I'm here.
- 0:39Here for it all.
- 0:40Lunch and all.
- 0:44Yeah, I need lunch today.
- 0:46We have a new testing launching today.
- 0:49I'm not the lead on it, thank God.
- 0:52But our testing system has
- 0:53been down all morning.
- 0:55So trying to test,
- 0:57and you can't even get into the system.
- 0:59It's just been one of those work days.
- 1:02So, yeah, crazy, crazy stuff.
- 1:06But with that...
- 1:10It's lunch and we're back.
- 1:12Sorry I missed yesterday.
- 1:14Just after the big show on Sunday night.
- 1:16It's really hard to come up
- 1:17with content on a Monday,
- 1:20but we'll try to figure that out.
- 1:22I need to get a better pacing there.
- 1:25But we should be with you all week.
- 1:26I think I am clear for the
- 1:29rest of the week.
- 1:29What's up, Jody?
- 1:31What is up, Corey?
- 1:33Jody isn't even taking a lunch break.
- 1:34She's measuring a kitchen
- 1:35right now to do some design work,
- 1:39I'm assuming.
- 1:40So I hope she has luck there.
- 1:44Corey's always here for lunch.
- 1:45We love Corey.
- 1:47So with that, awesome.
- 1:51Came into StreamYard today,
- 1:53found something new.
- 1:55Really, yeah, Sherry has advice for Jody.
- 2:00Measure twice, cut once.
- 2:03Yeah, I always got that in reverse.
- 2:06I'd always measure once, cut twice.
- 2:13Call it my construction dyslexia.
- 2:17But anyway, with that,
- 2:18came into StreamYard today.
- 2:21one of the most difficult
- 2:22things to do in stream yard
- 2:24to share with you guys is
- 2:25to share a picture.
- 2:28And, um, you're,
- 2:29you're able to share like
- 2:30internet websites.
- 2:31You're able to share a windows,
- 2:33different things like that.
- 2:34But to actually share a
- 2:36picture has been almost impossible.
- 2:39And, uh, they finally added it to, uh, the,
- 2:43the package.
- 2:44So now I can share, um, what,
- 2:51I can actually share an image file,
- 2:57which is awesome.
- 2:59And now I can't get my mouse to work.
- 3:02There we go.
- 3:04So this is a shot that our guy, eCaptures,
- 3:12took at TFX.
- 3:14So I'll just share that.
- 3:16And now, boom.
- 3:18I can actually share an
- 3:20image file to the screen
- 3:23and it's full HD quality,
- 3:27which is pretty awesome.
- 3:30And that is something we've
- 3:32been trying to do forever.
- 3:33So now we can screenshot things,
- 3:35put make them in an image
- 3:37file and share them to the
- 3:39screen to share with you
- 3:40guys what's going on.
- 3:42But I just learned this like
- 3:43literally five minutes ago.
- 3:45but really a cool feature
- 3:47now that we have to be able to do that.
- 3:51So not that you guys totally care,
- 3:55but showing you a little
- 3:57bit behind the scenes as to
- 4:00what we can do now.
- 4:03So really want to talk about
- 4:06a couple things going on in the space.
- 4:11You know, Corey, never stop learning.
- 4:14Yep.
- 4:14I'm telling you what doing
- 4:15this podcast I've learned
- 4:16so much uh at uh at a later
- 4:22age in trying to figure all
- 4:24this stuff out uh than I
- 4:26ever thought I would um but
- 4:28man it's been fun it's been
- 4:29really fun uh ken is
- 4:35finally starting to get
- 4:36used to eating lunch on
- 4:37easter time nice nice um
- 4:44So with that, it was released today.
- 4:46The Barbell Spin reported
- 4:49that the CrossFit Athlete
- 4:50Council or the CAC has
- 4:53released their first document.
- 4:56They surveyed, I think,
- 4:58a few hundred athletes or
- 5:00they got a few hundred responses in.
- 5:06several hundred responses to
- 5:07the survey of athletes and
- 5:11felt confident enough in
- 5:12their engagement to take
- 5:13these issues to CrossFit leadership.
- 5:15And then they actually
- 5:17responded back to everyone
- 5:18who took the survey.
- 5:20These are the things we took to CrossFit.
- 5:21These are the things we didn't.
- 5:23And this is the reason why.
- 5:26And so in their statement,
- 5:29they say that the new CrossFit,
- 5:31they talk about the new
- 5:32CrossFit transgender
- 5:33athlete policy and that
- 5:35they did not take that to
- 5:36CrossFit as they felt that
- 5:38it actually makes things fair.
- 5:41Yeah.
- 5:45Then they also made a
- 5:47statement about firing Dave Castro,
- 5:50saying they did not
- 5:52recommend that and take it
- 5:53to CrossFit leadership as
- 5:55they felt that they needed
- 5:58to commit to working
- 5:59alongside Dave and the
- 6:00games team to serve as a
- 6:02conduit for effective and
- 6:04timely communication
- 6:06between the community and
- 6:07the athletes and HQ.
- 6:10And they will not shy away
- 6:11from valid criticisms,
- 6:13constructive feedback,
- 6:14or difficult conversations,
- 6:16and will remain transparent
- 6:17about outcomes or lack
- 6:19thereof moving forward.
- 6:21But they did say that we
- 6:23firmly believe that Dave is
- 6:24the right person for the job.
- 6:26We are committed to
- 6:26collaborating with him to
- 6:27restore trust in the sports
- 6:29arm of CrossFit and the
- 6:31broader CrossFit community.
- 6:34They also talked about the
- 6:35third party investigation
- 6:36of Lazar Jukic and how they
- 6:40did take this to CrossFit HQ.
- 6:43But CrossFit HQ did cite
- 6:46legal and privacy
- 6:47considerations as to why it
- 6:49could not be released and
- 6:51that they promised
- 6:52conditions of anonymity to
- 6:55people who testified or
- 6:58gave statements to that report.
- 7:00and therefore they could not
- 7:03release the report.
- 7:09They also made a statement
- 7:10on the athletes protesting
- 7:12the game season and really
- 7:15just said that it's their
- 7:16goal to take feedback and
- 7:18solutions to problems they
- 7:19face so they continue to
- 7:21work together and bring the
- 7:22community back together in
- 7:25order to get back to doing
- 7:26what we love together.
- 7:36They also made a statement
- 7:37on the community desiring
- 7:38more forward-facing leadership from HQ.
- 7:42We have discussed with HQ
- 7:44community's desire for
- 7:45forward-facing leadership
- 7:46and transparency.
- 7:48The formation of the CAC is
- 7:50a direct effort to become
- 7:52more transparent to offer a
- 7:53channel for direct feedback to HQ.
- 7:56We hope that the community
- 7:57and athletes will utilize
- 7:58CAC in this capacity to
- 8:00continue the drive to positive change.
- 8:05They also released a
- 8:06statement on the
- 8:06community's desire to fix
- 8:08inconsistency in season format.
- 8:11And they communicated the
- 8:14need to adhere to a
- 8:16particular season structure
- 8:17for three to five seasons
- 8:19before proposing changes.
- 8:22The feedback was received by HQ,
- 8:24but no further discussion
- 8:26or commitments to this
- 8:27feedback were made at the time.
- 8:32There was also some stuff
- 8:33about the Community Cup.
- 8:35which I think are a little bit premature.
- 8:40They also addressed the
- 8:44request for a list of equipment,
- 8:46movements,
- 8:46and standards required for each
- 8:48stage of the competition.
- 8:50And they did take that to CrossFit HQ.
- 8:53HQ said that they will not
- 8:55be doing that for the
- 8:56twenty twenty five season,
- 8:58but they are open to
- 8:59discuss competition
- 9:01documents with the CAC as
- 9:05the twenty twenty six
- 9:06season plans are made.
- 9:11Yeah.
- 9:14then hq statement on
- 9:16requests for detailed and
- 9:17shared plans for emergency
- 9:18situations on all events
- 9:20including those offset
- 9:22off-site and they promised
- 9:26in our safety and
- 9:27procedural changes update
- 9:28crossfit is committed to
- 9:29ensuring athletes have a
- 9:30clear understanding of
- 9:31emergency resources and
- 9:32protocols at the games
- 9:34currently the new crossfit
- 9:35game safety advisory board
- 9:37is reviewing safety
- 9:38documents including games
- 9:40emergency action plans
- 9:44Um,
- 9:44HQ looks forward to working with the
- 9:46CAC to determine the best
- 9:48way to ensure participating
- 9:49athletes have visibility
- 9:50into safety procedures.
- 9:52This will include,
- 9:53but may not be limited to
- 9:54enhanced pre event briefing
- 9:56for athletes and written materials.
- 10:01So that was pretty much what
- 10:02they addressed and what
- 10:04they took to HQ and what
- 10:05they didn't and the reasons
- 10:08why they didn't,
- 10:09if they did not take them there.
- 10:13In addition to that,
- 10:14Dave had his weekly Dave
- 10:16Week in Review yesterday,
- 10:18and he talked about how
- 10:20much the Athlete Council
- 10:22has done in their short
- 10:24time on that board.
- 10:26He also addressed that
- 10:28someone asked the question,
- 10:30could Saxon Panchuk be on
- 10:31this and work for the WFP,
- 10:34which has been a mass piece of confusion.
- 10:38Saxon is not on the athlete council.
- 10:40Spencer Pancheck is on the
- 10:42athlete council.
- 10:44Saxon is working for the WFP
- 10:46as community development director.
- 10:50Um,
- 10:51But Dave said even if he was
- 10:53working for the WFP,
- 10:55there is nothing that
- 10:56precludes him from being a
- 10:57member of the CrossFit Athlete Council.
- 11:00He said, in fact,
- 11:01anybody from the WFP or the
- 11:03PFAA could run for that
- 11:06Athlete Council position
- 11:08and work with CrossFit in this way.
- 11:12It is an independent group
- 11:15that is... People put...
- 11:19themselves up for nomination
- 11:21or for vote and it is voted
- 11:23on by the athletes.
- 11:24CrossFit does not pick them.
- 11:27It is all picked by the
- 11:28athletes and then CrossFit
- 11:30just works with them.
- 11:32So it is kind of an
- 11:33independent third party
- 11:34group that works directly
- 11:37with CrossFit to be a
- 11:43conduit for the community
- 11:44and to bring issues to
- 11:46CrossFit and then
- 11:47communicate that information back.
- 11:50I will say this is, I think,
- 11:51the third one that they have formed.
- 11:53The previous two have failed miserably.
- 11:57It is pretty damn obvious
- 11:59that this one is actually
- 12:01putting some work in.
- 12:03They've only been around for a few months.
- 12:05They've already given more
- 12:08transparency and openness
- 12:10and done more than the
- 12:12other two combined in a few months.
- 12:14So...
- 12:16Uh,
- 12:16I am cautiously optimistic that this is
- 12:19heading in the right
- 12:20direction and that there is, uh,
- 12:23a potential for this to
- 12:25work out well for both CrossFit,
- 12:27the community and the athletes.
- 12:34Um, so yeah, I'm pretty impressed by the,
- 12:40uh,
- 12:43the written document that
- 12:44was sent out that that has
- 12:45never happened in the past
- 12:48so um by all accounts
- 12:51things are going well with
- 12:53the cac uh corey says uh
- 12:59spin the repeat workout
- 13:00will be from twenty to twenty four that
- 13:09Unless that was something
- 13:10put out by CrossFit.
- 13:11That's the stuff that kind
- 13:12of worries me is all the
- 13:16leaks and all the... I don't know.
- 13:24I did not see the report by Spin.
- 13:28So...
- 13:31Let me go to Instagram and
- 13:31see if Dave did say in his
- 13:33weekend review he was going
- 13:34to release a hint about something.
- 13:38So just to make sure that
- 13:39I'm not talking out of turn.
- 13:45Let me see what Dave put out today.
- 13:50Okay.
- 14:00I don't see anything in his posts and, um,
- 14:07uh, he has a lot of stories out there.
- 14:11He is sharing so much stuff, uh,
- 14:14from people who have tagged him,
- 14:17which I think is, is actually a new, uh,
- 14:21and, uh,
- 14:23really new thing that he's doing
- 14:27that I really, really like.
- 14:45um I think it was during the
- 14:48affiliate meeting okay I
- 14:52get so that's kind of
- 14:58getting into one of my um
- 15:00soap boxes that when you're
- 15:03releasing information from
- 15:04all different avenues in
- 15:05all different places it's
- 15:07very very hard uh for
- 15:09people to follow the sport
- 15:12If it was done in a press release,
- 15:13that makes much more sense.
- 15:17I actually have the post up now.
- 15:20Thank you for texting me that, Corey.
- 15:22But I actually have it up here.
- 15:26I will show it.
- 15:26Oh, wrong one.
- 15:35Let me do this again.
- 15:40Here we go.
- 15:42barbell spin uh the open
- 15:45repeat workout will be from
- 15:46twenty to twenty four not
- 15:48an earlier year per dave
- 15:49castro so um uh announced
- 15:57on the affiliate town hall
- 15:59call this morning that um
- 16:01the repeat workout will
- 16:02come from the years between
- 16:04twenty to twenty four post
- 16:05your guesses below what do
- 16:08we got for guesses
- 16:17Twenty four point one.
- 16:20Proud of that mushroom thing.
- 16:24Twenty three point two
- 16:25shuttle runs and burpee pull ups.
- 16:31There's people looking at
- 16:32cap to try to figure this out.
- 16:40Twenty point one, I threw up,
- 16:42it was awesome.
- 16:45Twenty one point one.
- 16:46People are saying if you see
- 16:48cap their dubs row wall
- 16:50balls and a lot of
- 16:51gymnastics near plus or minus two days,
- 16:55that should reduce the
- 16:56possibilities even more.
- 16:58I say burpees and dumbbell barbell.
- 17:07A lot of twenty point ones.
- 17:14I have a hard time
- 17:15remembering just by number what they are.
- 17:25So was twenty point one the
- 17:29snatch burpee over barbell?
- 17:36I don't know.
- 17:37Again, I can't.
- 17:39have a hard time there are a
- 17:40couple that like are
- 17:42stamped in my brain forever
- 17:44uh but I've been doing the
- 17:45open since um so it's been
- 17:51uh it's yeah they all kind
- 17:54of blur together twenty one
- 17:55is wall walk double under I
- 17:58am really over the wall walk thing
- 18:08Yeah.
- 18:08Now this one I thought was really good.
- 18:11It was hard.
- 18:11It sucked for a Clydesdale.
- 18:14It was not the best workout ever.
- 18:16The ground overhead and bar facing burpee.
- 18:20Cause I,
- 18:21I whipped through the snatches
- 18:22every time and then I'm
- 18:23right back to doing more freaking burpees,
- 18:26which is just not great for me.
- 18:31But I know that Carolyn and
- 18:34jamie have been around
- 18:36twenty point one and twenty
- 18:38point five I believe is
- 18:41what they had said uh so
- 18:47it'll be interesting uh
- 18:49we'll find out in just a
- 18:50few few short days on
- 18:55thursday afternoon here on the east coast
- 19:00three o'clock Eastern noon Pacific.
- 19:03That'll be awesome.
- 19:08I really like the one where
- 19:09you got to pick your own adventure.
- 19:11I know that,
- 19:12that like some classic
- 19:13CrossFitters are not fans of that.
- 19:15Pick your own adventure, but yeah,
- 19:18I really, really enjoyed that.
- 19:20And I, I liked the strategy behind it.
- 19:22Like if you don't really have muscle ups,
- 19:25do you give it a shot at
- 19:26first when you have all the
- 19:27energy in the world and
- 19:29then move on to the other stuff?
- 19:31Or do you sprint the other
- 19:32stuff to get the fastest
- 19:33time with that stuff and
- 19:35then try to hit your muscle up?
- 19:38Um, it was fun watching people in the gym,
- 19:40try that different ways and see which,
- 19:43which worked best for them.
- 19:48So on another note,
- 19:52that was twenty point five,
- 19:54forty ring muscle ups, eighty calorie row,
- 19:56one hundred and twenty wall balls.
- 19:57Yeah.
- 20:00Yeah,
- 20:00which is really similar to my first
- 20:05ever open workout was.
- 20:13Thirteen point one.
- 20:16which was the hundred and fifty wall ball,
- 20:19ninety double unders and
- 20:21then into I think it was
- 20:22twenty ring muscle ups,
- 20:25which I was so new to CrossFit.
- 20:28I wasn't getting to the ring
- 20:29muscle ups anyway.
- 20:30I didn't really have my
- 20:31double unders at that point.
- 20:33Plus doing Karen and then
- 20:37trying to jump immediately
- 20:39after was crazy.
- 20:47so yeah it was it was that
- 20:49was some of the most fun
- 20:51that was the first year my
- 20:52gym ever did the open and
- 20:54there were four of us uh
- 20:56four of us who signed up
- 20:58and we we were in the
- 20:59process of getting
- 21:00affiliated but hadn't been
- 21:01affiliated yet so we had to
- 21:03videotape everything and
- 21:05submit it and uh I was the
- 21:11least fit of my friends uh
- 21:13at the time and so it
- 21:17was really scared doing it
- 21:18but I I signed up and I had
- 21:20the best time of my life um
- 21:24just facing karen into
- 21:26anything else after that
- 21:28like I don't know if we'd
- 21:29ever done that in a workout
- 21:31at my gym before that it
- 21:33was it was kind of
- 21:34life-changing and then as
- 21:36we moved on as a gym and
- 21:37developed as a gym then we
- 21:39started doing like grace
- 21:41into some other stuff or
- 21:45know you would mix some of
- 21:46those named workouts in the
- 21:48middle of a workout and
- 21:50that became not commonplace
- 21:52but more common um so but
- 21:57it was it was so much fun
- 21:59and the crazy stuff is you
- 22:00can still see some of those
- 22:02workouts out on youtube uh
- 22:04because we had to put those
- 22:05out so early uh um yeah
- 22:11Uh,
- 22:12D Reed says I'm always the least fit of
- 22:14my friends.
- 22:15I've seen you D Reed.
- 22:16You are not.
- 22:18Um, you look like captain America.
- 22:22Uh,
- 22:29I think for the ring muscle ups is too
- 22:30aggressive for the new
- 22:31inclusive CrossFit.
- 22:33It may be, if you even get to that, um,
- 22:35like newer athletes can do
- 22:36the row and they can do the
- 22:38wall balls and that will
- 22:40take up their time.
- 22:44Um, and that's,
- 22:45what's cool about that workout.
- 22:47The first workout I did get
- 22:49to do a hundred and fifty
- 22:49wall balls and ninety
- 22:50double winners before we
- 22:51even got to the ring muscle ups.
- 22:53And if you were new to CrossFit,
- 22:54you were never getting there.
- 22:56You were never getting there.
- 22:59I think the cap on that was like twelve,
- 23:02twelve minutes.
- 23:04Um, twelve or fifteen.
- 23:06It was,
- 23:07it was aggressive for a newer
- 23:08CrossFitter.
- 23:10Um,
- 23:12so uh jody says whoa that's
- 23:14old school scott uh yeah I
- 23:17am old school I I started
- 23:18crossfit in um started at
- 23:25plus pounds and uh changed
- 23:28my life completely uh if it
- 23:30wasn't for crossfit I
- 23:31probably would not be
- 23:32around today uh that is for damn sure
- 23:42Doug Reed is the fittest Reed.
- 23:47But yeah, excited about this weekend.
- 23:50So I had this thought
- 23:53because I am a sports fan
- 23:55of other kinds and I just
- 23:56wanted to throw this out to
- 23:57you guys and see what your thoughts were.
- 23:59But this week is the NFL Combine.
- 24:03How cool would it be to make
- 24:06a streamed event or
- 24:10something like that,
- 24:11or a piece of content where
- 24:14you had elite CrossFitters
- 24:16do the skills and agility
- 24:19part of the NFL combine and
- 24:22just see how they matched
- 24:24up with these NFL,
- 24:27these prospective NFL athletes, right.
- 24:31Just to kind of compare and
- 24:32contrast how fast are their forties,
- 24:36how fast can they do the shuttle run?
- 24:38What is their vertical?
- 24:41Um,
- 24:43what,
- 24:44what is their max bench of two
- 24:46hundred twenty five pounds?
- 24:49I think that some of the
- 24:50elite CrossFitters could
- 24:51compete in different
- 24:53aspects of those elements
- 24:56with these prospective NFL athletes.
- 25:01I think it'd be cool to just
- 25:02have like a list of five of
- 25:03them and and watch elite
- 25:08CrossFitters try them and
- 25:11and then register their
- 25:12marks and then do like a
- 25:13compare contrast because all of the,
- 25:16all of the numbers from the
- 25:17NFL prospects are public.
- 25:21So you could pull those up
- 25:22and you compare what, um,
- 25:26Justin Madaris did in the
- 25:28vertical compared to a Travis Hunter,
- 25:31right.
- 25:34Or, or vice or other people, um,
- 25:36just throwing that name out there.
- 25:38Uh,
- 25:40I think it would be like a
- 25:43really cool made for TV
- 25:44event just to promote what
- 25:47CrossFit can do for people.
- 25:50What the tip of the spear is
- 25:53with the tip of the spear
- 25:54of another sport, right?
- 25:57but more in crossfit's
- 25:59wheelhouse uh because
- 26:01you're doing more fitness
- 26:03and agility um now it it's
- 26:06trained differently right
- 26:07so I'm sure that those
- 26:09athletes and their freak
- 26:10athletes too uh would would
- 26:13put up numbers that some of
- 26:14the crossfitters wouldn't
- 26:15touch but I think it'd just
- 26:17be interesting to kind of
- 26:18see and I think it would
- 26:19make for some really really
- 26:21good content um
- 26:25The only drawback to it all
- 26:27is that the Open and the
- 26:30NFL Combine are pretty
- 26:31close to the same week,
- 26:33if not the same week.
- 26:35NFL Combine starts today, tomorrow,
- 26:37and the Open starts Thursday.
- 26:39So if you are training for
- 26:41the Open and you need to push in the Open,
- 26:44you probably don't want to
- 26:45go do the NFL Combine numbers either.
- 26:49but you could hold it or do
- 26:51it in the off season.
- 26:52And then when they're
- 26:53posting their numbers,
- 26:54do the compare and contrast
- 26:57wouldn't have to be done at
- 26:58the same time.
- 26:59But I think that would be pretty,
- 27:02a pretty cool concept.
- 27:11That is very specific.
- 27:12D read.
- 27:14I would like to see two K row,
- 27:15then max chest to bar.
- 27:18Very, very, very, very, very specific.
- 27:27I don't mind the two K row.
- 27:29I don't want to see the max chest to bar.
- 27:32No way, no how.
- 27:40I would like a two K row and a max bench.
- 27:45I'll take that.
- 27:47That's Clydesdale wheelhouse right there.
- 27:51Or two K row and max squat.
- 27:55I can do that too.
- 27:57So, yeah.
- 28:04So just throw in your
- 28:05thoughts about how would
- 28:08the elite CrossFitters do
- 28:10in the skills and agility
- 28:11of the NFL Combine compared
- 28:13to the NFL prospects.
- 28:25And I don't even know what
- 28:26position would be the best...
- 28:30kind of compare you'd have
- 28:31to probably switch
- 28:32positions because like
- 28:33there's no way that any
- 28:36elite crossfitters going to
- 28:37keep up with the speed of a
- 28:39high-end defensive back or
- 28:42high-end wide receiver um
- 28:45but probably a linebacker
- 28:47um I think and um so yeah
- 28:59Yeah,
- 28:59and I think we would have outliers
- 29:01just like the NFL.
- 29:02Guy would be an interesting
- 29:03on the max jump.
- 29:04So I think they do a broad jump,
- 29:06like standing broad jump.
- 29:07They do a standing vertical.
- 29:09Guy would kill those.
- 29:15Yeah,
- 29:15it'd be just really interesting to
- 29:19see how he would stack up.
- 29:25I do think like crossfit has
- 29:26outliers in certain events
- 29:28uh that would do really
- 29:28well um and actually guy
- 29:32would probably do well
- 29:33overall because his
- 29:36weakness is endurance and
- 29:38most of the nfl stuff is
- 29:40short power sprint which is
- 29:44right up his alley
- 29:50linebackers are running
- 29:51backs yeah I was thinking
- 29:52kind of the same thing
- 29:56Now, lifting numbers,
- 29:58that would be interesting
- 30:00because some of those
- 30:01linebackers and running
- 30:03backs can lift like nobody's business.
- 30:06But a max-to-twenty-five bench,
- 30:10there's some other stuff
- 30:10like that that might
- 30:12correlate pretty well.
- 30:14Andrew Sten says tight end.
- 30:16That's probably a good one, too.
- 30:19For sure.
- 30:24But yeah,
- 30:24I think that'd be a great piece
- 30:26of content if you could pull it off,
- 30:28for sure.
- 30:32Last thing I'm going to talk
- 30:35about is some TV that's
- 30:37going on this week.
- 30:39And if you've been following this podcast,
- 30:44James Townsend would
- 30:45probably do better now in
- 30:47Combine than he did in college.
- 30:49Once he gets the quad tear mended, sure.
- 30:54James is just a dude, man.
- 30:56That guy,
- 30:57if you've ever met him in person
- 31:00is just jack stacked, man.
- 31:04I love that guy.
- 31:04Love that guy.
- 31:08Um, if you've ever,
- 31:11if you've been watching this,
- 31:12this program at all,
- 31:14like some of our shows, you know,
- 31:16that Jamie and I are
- 31:18diehard reacher addicts.
- 31:22Um,
- 31:25and uh reacher came back
- 31:26this week season three
- 31:28released three episodes
- 31:30this week um I talked to
- 31:33jamie yesterday and she
- 31:37actually after our show
- 31:39sunday night watched all
- 31:40three episodes and got to
- 31:43bed at like two thirty in
- 31:44the morning I I couldn't go
- 31:48all in on that and and do a
- 31:49work day uh but watched
- 31:51episode one last night
- 31:54Starts off with a bang,
- 31:55really kind of an interesting start.
- 32:00And then comes back around a
- 32:04lot more familiar Reacher stuff.
- 32:06So I'm excited to get into this season.
- 32:10But I can't wait to talk
- 32:11about that with Jamie.
- 32:13I know that's when Carolyn
- 32:15tunes out when we're on the
- 32:16Sunday night show.
- 32:17But man, we love, love Reacher.
- 32:21And so glad it's back this week.
- 32:25Shiz Graphics says,
- 32:27Hopper should do all right
- 32:28since he played at Clemson.
- 32:32I think you have to define played.
- 32:35He was on the team.
- 32:38I don't think he played much.
- 32:43But he's a great athlete.
- 32:46His performance on Kill
- 32:47Taylor this week was
- 32:50freaking out of this world.
- 32:52The numbers he was holding
- 32:53on that bike was insane.
- 32:56Insane.
- 32:59And the fact he just quit
- 33:00ten seconds or twenty
- 33:02seconds early and said,
- 33:08I need to get to some other stuff,
- 33:09so I'm just going to quit now.
- 33:11Man, what a taunt.
- 33:17Hiller should do a natty or
- 33:18not on Reacher.
- 33:21I think it's come out that
- 33:22he has definitely dabbled.
- 33:32Corey said,
- 33:32I had a new kid at the gym tell
- 33:34me I was jacked last night.
- 33:35Kid needs to get out more.
- 33:40You're jacked, dude.
- 33:43you've worked hard and it,
- 33:45and it is definitely apparent.
- 33:47Uh, she says one catch.
- 33:49Yeah, exactly.
- 33:53D read.
- 33:55He, he like he had one catch.
- 33:59Um, and I,
- 34:00and I actually talked to him
- 34:01about this a little bit
- 34:03when I first met him in, uh,
- 34:08he had the body type of like a tight end,
- 34:11uh,
- 34:13but the skillset of a wide receiver.
- 34:16And so he didn't really fit in in any way.
- 34:20And it just kind of,
- 34:24I think that was more it.
- 34:25He just didn't,
- 34:27his body type and his
- 34:28skillset didn't make sense.
- 34:31And it was hard to find the
- 34:32right spot for him in a
- 34:34standard offense in college.
- 34:38I don't want to like dismiss
- 34:40what he was and you're
- 34:41right you make the clemson
- 34:42football team period you're
- 34:44no slouch um but I think
- 34:47that's what it ended up
- 34:48being is he just he wasn't
- 34:51really fast enough to be a
- 34:53pure wide receiver he had
- 34:56the body type of a tight
- 34:58end but didn't have the
- 34:59skill set for that um
- 35:03And so I think he was more
- 35:05of that like Cooper cup ish
- 35:07type of a receiver,
- 35:09not necessarily the speed guy,
- 35:11but like a possession receiver.
- 35:13And they just don't use a
- 35:14lot of that in college.
- 35:19Um,
- 35:20of course there's a reach or books are
- 35:21absolutely outstanding.
- 35:23Yeah.
- 35:23I have not read, um, books in a while.
- 35:27Um,
- 35:31So I don't know.
- 35:33Um, once I got my graduate degree,
- 35:35I swore I was never going to read again.
- 35:37Now I have picked up a few
- 35:39books here and there,
- 35:40but I used to read all the time.
- 35:41And now I just, I just can't, uh,
- 35:52Corey says Hopper left the
- 35:53scene of a murder after KT
- 35:55stopped with a ridiculous
- 35:56amount of time left.
- 35:57It was, it was freaking phenomenal.
- 36:01And if you have not watched the Sprague,
- 36:04episode of,
- 36:05I think they're calling it now
- 36:07boys interrupted,
- 36:08which is Hopper and Madaris and Hopper.
- 36:11Um, it is a classic episode this week.
- 36:16So good.
- 36:17So good.
- 36:18Um, the trash talking, um,
- 36:20they play a game at the end.
- 36:22I was literally like peeing my pants.
- 36:24It was so funny.
- 36:26Um, uh,
- 36:35Here lately,
- 36:35tight ends are absolutely
- 36:36lethal in the right system.
- 36:38I do not disagree.
- 36:39Being a Penn State fan,
- 36:42Tyler Warren was our only
- 36:44weapon on offense other
- 36:46than the running backs.
- 36:48So, yeah, lethal.
- 36:50He was lethal.
- 36:53There are certainly levels
- 36:54to D-I and levels within
- 36:56the Power Five schools.
- 36:57Starters at Power Five are
- 36:58different regardless of the sport.
- 37:01Yeah, you're right.
- 37:03but I,
- 37:03but I really do like Hopper has
- 37:06athleticism and he has
- 37:07shown it like at places
- 37:08like rogue where they test
- 37:10athletic athleticism a little bit more.
- 37:12Um, and so again,
- 37:19after discussing it with him,
- 37:20like he knows,
- 37:21he knows why he didn't play and, and he,
- 37:24he kind of explained it all to me and it,
- 37:27It is what it is.
- 37:29You just hit that point in your life where,
- 37:32yep, I was good,
- 37:33and now I'm the little fish
- 37:37in the big pond instead of
- 37:38the big fish in the little pond,
- 37:40and there you are.
- 37:45Taylor is a major disadvantage on kill.
- 37:48He has to defend against everyone.
- 37:51I completely agree.
- 37:53The only advantage Taylor
- 37:55has is he gets to create
- 37:56the workout every week.
- 37:58But he's doing it every week.
- 38:02Every week.
- 38:03And now...
- 38:05so when it first started out,
- 38:06it was a lot of like Matthews and, uh,
- 38:10J our very own Jamie Latimer jumped on,
- 38:13um, people like that.
- 38:15Now you're getting Sprague
- 38:17and Mertens and Hopper and
- 38:19yellow host to coming in.
- 38:21Like not only is he defending every week,
- 38:23he's defending every week
- 38:25against the best of the best.
- 38:27And if he,
- 38:30messes up the programming at
- 38:32all and feeds one of their wheelhouses,
- 38:34they're coming for him.
- 38:38So, uh, he is at a distinct disadvantage,
- 38:42uh, every single week.
- 38:44Um,
- 38:45the fact that he can go on runs for
- 38:47four or five weeks is to me
- 38:52pretty damn amazing.
- 38:55The fact that that money
- 38:56ever gets to like three grand or
- 39:01mind-blowing to me.
- 39:03Because he has to go on a run to do that.
- 39:07And the more he goes on that run,
- 39:08then the more people are
- 39:09interested to try to win the money,
- 39:11and then he's at an even
- 39:13more disadvantage.
- 39:14So, yeah.
- 39:22Definitely a great concept
- 39:23that they came up with there.
- 39:26But...
- 39:27what he's been doing it for
- 39:29almost a year now.
- 39:31I'm taking on all comers
- 39:33every single week.
- 39:35Crazy.
- 39:40Just crazy.
- 39:42So, well guys,
- 39:45it is just about over here
- 39:47for me at lunchtime.
- 39:49Got to get back to work.
- 39:50So all you hooligans get back to work.
- 39:54We are done here.
- 39:56We'll see you tomorrow on
- 39:58Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 39:59Bye, guys.
