- Lucas: Hej och välkomna tillbaka till Learn Swedish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. We're so glad you're here with us for episode fifty-two! Lucas: We've covered a lot so far — greetings, numbers, food, even telling time. Today we're going to talk about something that affects all of us: the seasons. Luna: Oh, I love the seasons! Back in the last episode we talked about the weekend, and now we're looking at the whole year. Lucas: Exactly. So in Swedish, the word for season is 'årstid'. But today we'll focus on the four seasons themselves. Let's start with spring. Lucas: Spring in Swedish is 'vår'. Say it with me: vår. Luna: Vår. Lucas: Perfect! Vår. So if you want to say 'It is spring', you say 'Det är vår.' Luna: Det är vår. That's easy! Vår sounds like 'vore' but without the 'e'. Lucas: Right. Now the next season: summer. That's 'sommar'. Try it: sommar. Luna: Sommar. Lucas: Yes! Sommar. And if you want to say 'It is summer', you say 'Det är sommar.' Luna: Det är sommar. I love summer. Lucas: Me too. Now autumn, or fall, is 'höst'. H-öst. Like 'host' but with a softer 'h' and a long 'ö'. Luna: Höst. Lucas: Great. And 'It is autumn' — 'Det är höst.' Luna: Det är höst. The leaves change color, it's cozy. Lucas: Absolutely. And finally, winter. That's 'vinter'. Vi-nter. Luna: Vinter. Lucas: Yes! And 'It is winter' — 'Det är vinter.' Luna: Det är vinter. Now I can talk about all four seasons! Lucas: You're doing great. Let's practice them all together. Repeat after me: vår, sommar, höst, vinter. Luna: Vår, sommar, höst, vinter. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's use them in little sentences. For example, 'Jag gillar sommaren.' That means 'I like summer.' Lucas: Jag gillar sommaren. Notice we add '-en' to 'sommar' to make it 'sommaren' — the summer. Luna: So 'sommaren' means 'the summer'. Jag gillar sommaren. Lucas: Exactly. You can use that with other seasons too: 'Jag gillar våren', 'Jag gillar hösten', 'Jag gillar vintern'. Luna: Jag gillar våren. Jag gillar sommaren. Jag gillar hösten. Jag gillar vintern. That's so handy. Lucas: Absolutely. Let's try a little dialogue. Imagine we're talking about what season it is. I'll say 'Det är vår.' You answer with what you like. Lucas: Det är vår. Luna: Jag gillar våren. It's nice when the flowers bloom. Lucas: Now if I say 'Det är sommar'. Luna: Jag gillar sommaren. Perfect for ice cream! Lucas: And 'Det är höst'. Luna: Jag gillar hösten. I love the colors. Lucas: And 'Det är vinter'. Luna: Jag gillar vintern. Snow is fun! Lucas: You nailed it. Now let's do a quick recap. So far we have: vår, sommar, höst, vinter. And the sentence 'Det är...' plus the season. Luna: And 'Jag gillar...' with the season in definite form: våren, sommaren, hösten, vintern. Lucas: Perfect. Let's practice one more time. Repeat after me: Det är vår. Luna: Det är vår. Lucas: Det är sommar. Luna: Det är sommar. Lucas: Det är höst. Luna: Det är höst. Lucas: Det är vinter. Luna: Det är vinter. Lucas: Wonderful. You now know the four seasons in Swedish. Try using them when you talk about your favorite time of year. Luna: I will definitely say 'Jag gillar sommaren' all the time now. Lucas: That's the spirit. Thank you for joining us on Fexingo. We'll be back with another small, useful lesson. Luna: Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time! Hej då! Lucas: Hej då!
