- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome into Jagsam Victory Monday edition here on December first,
- 0:19Speaker 1: as the Jaguars are big winners over the Titans yesterday,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and we want to bring you our big things today
- 0:25Speaker 1: because why not go over another Jaguars win. Brought to
- 0:27Speaker 1: you by GEHA Government Employees Health Association Benefits for federal
- 0:31Speaker 1: employees and retirees. Big thing Number one is thankful it's
- 0:34Speaker 1: Thanksgiving weekend last week and the Jaguars were able to
- 0:37Speaker 1: go out and dominate Brian and we saw, from what
- 0:41Speaker 1: from my perspective, at least them to go out and
- 0:43Speaker 1: handle a game that we knew they could handle.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You know, it was interesting. I read a lot of
- 0:48Speaker 2: the national websites and there were a lot of people
- 0:50Speaker 2: that were, you know, throwing out bold thoughts. And the
- 0:52Speaker 2: bold thought was that the Titans were going to upset
- 0:55Speaker 2: the Jaguars because their rookie quarterback had two games, both
- 0:59Speaker 2: losses where didn't have a turnover. That's all it takes
- 1:01Speaker 2: to beat the Jaguars. Well, so that's the perception that
- 1:04Speaker 2: people have with this team. Yeah, yeah, they beat the Cardinals,
- 1:06Speaker 2: but they're not that good. So it was on the
- 1:09Speaker 2: coach and this team to go handle business, and outside
- 1:13Speaker 2: of one drive, the Titans didn't even show up and
- 1:17Speaker 2: the Jaguars pummeled them, which is exactly and I'm not
- 1:20Speaker 2: even talking about all the scuffs scuffles. In the second half,
- 1:23Speaker 2: they went and took care of business. Something this team
- 1:25Speaker 2: hasn't done enough of in recent years is to take
- 1:28Speaker 2: care of business, and they did a John I thought
- 1:30Speaker 2: in a very commanding way.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been a while since this team has had
- 1:36Speaker 3: some methodicals. In twenty two, remember they got hot and
- 1:41Speaker 3: it was twenty two. I forget the years now when
- 1:43Speaker 3: they went to the playoffs nine and eight, they got
- 1:45Speaker 3: hot and everything was dramatic. You need to build postseason seasons.
- 1:52Speaker 3: You need some methodical wins over teams you ought to beat,
- 1:55Speaker 3: and that felt methodical. A kudos to the defense, by
- 2:00Speaker 3: the way, for figuring out the Titans early script and
- 2:03Speaker 3: then shutting them down. That felt dicey right at first,
- 2:06Speaker 3: but then good teams handle that and look, the Jaguars
- 2:10Speaker 3: are turning into a good team.
- 2:11Speaker 2: And they did it kai on defense, especially right. John
- 2:13Speaker 2: mentioned the early success that the Titans had no Eric Carms,
- 2:18Speaker 2: did no Trayvon Walker. Okay, you know they were able
- 2:20Speaker 2: to figure it out, same thing on the offensive side.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Of the ball. Some great adjustments in game we saw
- 2:25Speaker 1: there for sure. Our big thing Number two is grateful
- 2:27Speaker 1: because we also saw a complete game from Trevor Lawrence
- 2:30Speaker 1: who played very well. They didn't get the rush game
- 2:32Speaker 1: going very much at all, but they were still able
- 2:34Speaker 1: to kind of utilize the offense and the weapons that
- 2:36Speaker 1: he had out there. And Trevor Lawrence talked about a
- 2:39Speaker 1: little bit about the rivalry.
- 2:41Speaker 2: There is a you know, dislike for sure, but there's
- 2:44Speaker 2: a respect too. If you know how the game is
- 2:45Speaker 2: going to be played, it's going to be physical, You're
- 2:47Speaker 2: going to get their best shot, and you know, I'm
- 2:49Speaker 2: sure they know the same when they play us. So yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 2: there's definitely a little something to it. And I think
- 2:54Speaker 2: it's a good thing. You know, that's what makes football.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Fun, John, Football is fun, and it's certainly fun. And
- 3:00Speaker 1: again when you're playing meaningful games in November and December.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it is fun. I'll talk about Trevor just
- 3:06Speaker 3: a little bit. I think it's significant that the passes
- 3:11Speaker 3: that got this team going yesterday third and eight to
- 3:15Speaker 3: Parker Washington across the know and the next played Jacobe
- 3:17Speaker 3: Myers for fifty yards two passes, and with seventy six
- 3:21Speaker 3: yards then the TD to Brenton Strange.
- 3:24Speaker 4: All three of.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Those guys are guys we've talked about for the last
- 3:26Speaker 3: couple of weeks that he trusts, he knows where they're
- 3:29Speaker 3: going to be. He's building chemistry at those guys. It
- 3:33Speaker 3: bodes well for what's coming up that he is connecting
- 3:37Speaker 3: with those guys and that those guys are making some
- 3:39Speaker 3: things look easy and smooth.
- 3:41Speaker 2: You know, last week on Monday, my hot take was
- 3:43Speaker 2: Trevor will be just fine, and it was because I
- 3:45Speaker 2: liked what I saw from him coming after that third interception,
- 3:49Speaker 2: and he continued that on Sunday in Nashville, where he
- 3:53Speaker 2: was composed, where he was comfortable in the pocket, where
- 3:56Speaker 2: he threw decisively. You know, the pass that he threw
- 3:59Speaker 2: for Brenton Stranger's touchdown, He was almost flat foot in
- 4:02Speaker 2: the pocket. He was so comfortable, he was well protected,
- 4:04Speaker 2: which speaks well of an offensive line that was piece
- 4:07Speaker 2: mealing things together as well. But Trevor Lawrence kept it
- 4:11Speaker 2: going from the end of the game in Arizona through yesterday,
- 4:15Speaker 2: and I just think that we saw a confident, consistent
- 4:19Speaker 2: quarterback elite. No, really good.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yes, our final big thing today is going to be
- 4:25Speaker 1: hopeful because that Jaguars are in first place in the
- 4:29Speaker 1: ANFC South with tie breakers, but they're tied with the Colts,
- 4:31Speaker 1: which makes this week's game against the Colts here at
- 4:34Speaker 1: EverBank Stadium a big one. Brian, we knew it was
- 4:37Speaker 1: going to be no matter what. But now with all
- 4:38Speaker 1: the stakes surrounding it, how do you make it a
- 4:40Speaker 1: big deal but not make it too big of a deal.
- 4:42Speaker 2: No, you can't. You can't because the fan base has
- 4:45Speaker 2: been waiting for a game like this since the end
- 4:47Speaker 2: of the twenty two season. For Liam Cohen, this is
- 4:51Speaker 2: what you hoped for, that you would have a team
- 4:54Speaker 2: that was in position to make some noise about the
- 4:56Speaker 2: playoff race. Well, it's better than you could have hoped
- 4:58Speaker 2: for because you're in first place in the division and
- 5:01Speaker 2: if you win on Sunday and if the Chiefs beat
- 5:04Speaker 2: the Texans, I mean you're in a really good spot.
- 5:08Speaker 2: But this game is really big because if you don't
- 5:11Speaker 2: win and the Texans be the Chiefs, you see, you
- 5:13Speaker 2: put yourself in a position now where you're on the
- 5:15Speaker 2: outside looking in. So this is a really big game
- 5:18Speaker 2: for this football team. But John, I don't get the senset.
- 5:20Speaker 2: That's a problem. You know, you've seen the veteran leadership.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Eric Armstead has been very solid for this team on
- 5:26Speaker 2: and off the field. Josh Heinz Allen same way, the
- 5:28Speaker 2: quarterback taking that up. I think this team is primed
- 5:31Speaker 2: for a big game and to know that it's a
- 5:33Speaker 2: big game and to step on the field on Sunday
- 5:35Speaker 2: afternoon in front of what should be an excellent crowd
- 5:39Speaker 2: expecting a big game.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Look, I don't know if the Jaguar was a win Sunday.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I don't think they'll be overwhelmed by a big game.
- 5:45Speaker 3: This team has beaten five teams with five hundred records
- 5:49Speaker 3: or better, the AFC South. I expect it to go
- 5:53Speaker 3: down to the final game, final weekend in some capacity.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I don't know if the Jags win this one. I
- 5:58Speaker 3: don't you know, but it's three really good teams. I
- 6:03Speaker 3: think you're eatingly matched. I think the Jaguars feel like
- 6:05Speaker 3: they belong there. I think they're right, and I think
- 6:07Speaker 3: they'll be four or five games at the end of
- 6:09Speaker 3: the season where every game you're in the fourth quarter
- 6:13Speaker 3: looking at your game and the scoreboard. This is the
- 6:15Speaker 3: fun stuff.
- 6:16Speaker 1: The division ones are always the fun stuff. So stay
- 6:18Speaker 1: with us here on Jagzam. After the break, we're gonna
- 6:20Speaker 1: go over the highlights from yesterday's way over the Titans.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Jags fans, if you want customer Jaguars furniture for your home,
- 6:34Speaker 1: check out zipcare dot com to browse all the customizable options.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Zipchair is furniture for fans. Welcome back to Jagzam on
- 6:41Speaker 1: a victory Monday, and we love it. On a victory Monday,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I think three in a row at this point, right,
- 6:46Speaker 1: So it's always good to recap a win. And so
- 6:48Speaker 1: we're gonna start out with what we saw on offense.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And Jacoby Myers, who was added four weeks ago at
- 6:54Speaker 1: this point to this roster, came in and had probably
- 6:57Speaker 1: one of his best games that we've seen so far.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Obviously a ton of trust factor there with Trebor Lawrence,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but this play over the middle, I believe the longest
- 7:04Speaker 1: pass of his career fifty yards. And how about BTJ
- 7:07Speaker 1: back in the game setting some blocks there as well.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You got to like that seeing the buy in all
- 7:11Speaker 1: around and then obviously capping it off with a touchdown
- 7:14Speaker 1: John It was nice to see early to get this going.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, And an aside on BTJ during some of his
- 7:19Speaker 3: troubles this year, I've gotten emails, Oh, he's going to
- 7:22Speaker 3: be a problem, He's going to be added to I've
- 7:24Speaker 3: never gotten that people.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I don't know who he used that right person.
- 7:28Speaker 3: This kid wants to win, he wants to be good.
- 7:31Speaker 3: He loves being around this team. That was a big
- 7:34Speaker 3: time play and show commitment. And now Jacoby Myers look
- 7:38Speaker 3: in four games already, he's you know, there's a difference sometimes, Brian,
- 7:43Speaker 3: between making plays and really mattering in the offense. Right,
- 7:47Speaker 3: he's one of the engines of this offense.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Now he what a mid season pick up.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Absolutely, And when you talk about Brian Thomas or think
- 7:54Speaker 2: about what he could learn from Jacoby Myers, people forget
- 7:58Speaker 2: Myers was an undrafted rookie who made his way through
- 8:02Speaker 2: the Patriots out to Vegas and then the Jaguars had
- 8:05Speaker 2: to have him. His work ethic, his precision in his
- 8:08Speaker 2: route running, the way that he is always where he's
- 8:11Speaker 2: supposed to be, the twenty third pick in the draft, whatever,
- 8:14Speaker 2: Brian was, first round pick, all the hoopla around him.
- 8:19Speaker 2: He can learn a lot from the way that Jacobe
- 8:21Speaker 2: Myers works, and Jacoby learned it because that was the
- 8:23Speaker 2: only way he was going to make it in the NFL.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit more about special teams, because
- 8:28Speaker 1: one of my favorite plays from yesterday was Leaquinn Allen Junior,
- 8:30Speaker 1: who if he isn't one of your favorite players already,
- 8:32Speaker 1: he should be. He is just dives headlong into the
- 8:36Speaker 1: play that you think is over and somehow jars the
- 8:38Speaker 1: ball loose. Originally wasn't called a turnover, challenged by Liam
- 8:42Speaker 1: Cohen and it was pronounced a turnover at this point.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But he does all the little things we talk about
- 8:48Speaker 1: football players, went on all of that.
- 8:49Speaker 2: But you know the other thing that I loved about
- 8:51Speaker 2: him was did you see early in the game when
- 8:53Speaker 2: Jeffrey Simmons was flustered when he was pointing at Leaquin
- 8:57Speaker 2: Allen Jr. When he was walking off. I mean, he
- 9:00Speaker 2: got chipped hard by him on one particular play, and
- 9:03Speaker 2: the rest of the game, thirty six was in his
- 9:06Speaker 2: ear so much so that when you go and look
- 9:08Speaker 2: at the play that had to be broken up on
- 9:09Speaker 2: the sideline Arden Keys hit on Trevor Lawrence. You see
- 9:13Speaker 2: thirty six and ninety eight having a little collision in
- 9:16Speaker 2: the pile and the quarterback having to go and turn
- 9:19Speaker 2: thirty six around. I just love the intensity with which
- 9:22Speaker 2: he plays with. In the first half, he was that
- 9:24Speaker 2: little birdie that just would not go away, and Jeffrey
- 9:28Speaker 2: Simmons was flustered by him.
- 9:29Speaker 3: I would call him that little gnat that doesn't go away.
- 9:32Speaker 3: That's really disrespecting. How good a player is he talked
- 9:35Speaker 3: about favorite player. He's the favorite player of a lot
- 9:39Speaker 3: of coaches staff in this building.
- 9:41Speaker 4: They love this kid. You know, he loves playing football.
- 9:44Speaker 4: That shows what a late round.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Pickup Jaguars DNA more of that place.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Absolutely football player for sure. Let's look at Brenton Strange's touchdown.
- 9:54Speaker 1: We finally got him back off ir last week. He
- 9:57Speaker 1: kind of been working his way back a little bit,
- 9:59Speaker 1: but John, the trust that he has from Trevor clearly
- 10:02Speaker 1: still there. Yea.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I think you mentioned a little bit now one of
- 10:06Speaker 3: your quick thoughts, just the more with receivers. But this
- 10:10Speaker 3: team's ability to adapt, change on the fly, bring guys back.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I think by the guys who made big plays, Parker Washington,
- 10:18Speaker 3: Brenton Strange, Jacoby Myers, you know second third week of
- 10:22Speaker 3: the season, Brenton was involved.
- 10:24Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 10:25Speaker 3: They are figuring out what they are on the fly,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and it's the reason they're a much better team in
- 10:32Speaker 3: week twelve than they were in week one.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Brenton Strange, I'm mean saying all year he might be
- 10:40Speaker 4: the best player on their roster. With the pologies and
- 10:41Speaker 4: Josh Heines.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Allen right now, listen, they also show you who this
- 10:44Speaker 2: quarterback is because those are players Parker Washington, Jacoby Myers,
- 10:48Speaker 2: and Brenton Strange who are always where they're supposed to be.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And we've made the reference here back to twenty twenty
- 10:53Speaker 2: two when you had Marvin Jones, C. J. Kirk, Christian
- 10:57Speaker 2: Kirk and Zay Jones and they were always where they
- 11:01Speaker 2: were supposed to be. In the quarterback played his best
- 11:03Speaker 2: stretch of football when he had guys he could depend on. Well,
- 11:06Speaker 2: we're starting to see the quarterback play his best stretch
- 11:08Speaker 2: of football of the year, and there's no surprise that
- 11:11Speaker 2: eighty five, eleven, and three are the guys who are
- 11:14Speaker 2: helping him get there.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Yeah. Kay.
- 11:15Speaker 3: What Brian touched on might be the storyline of the
- 11:18Speaker 3: last six seven weeks of the season. I think that
- 11:21Speaker 3: if what we're seeing with Trevor and that trust factor
- 11:23Speaker 3: of the receivers is real, which I think it is,
- 11:27Speaker 3: this becomes a different I thin it's a playoff team anyway. Yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 3: but if that's real, this becomes really interesting.
- 11:34Speaker 2: And what they have, if they can get it out
- 11:36Speaker 2: of him, is in the elite talent in Brian Thomas
- 11:39Speaker 2: Junior that they didn't have in twenty twenty two. Think
- 11:41Speaker 2: about what that could do to take this offense to
- 11:44Speaker 2: another level.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Propell it even farther. Absolutely, Let's look at this fourth
- 11:47Speaker 1: and one and then the rushing touchdown for them, because
- 11:49Speaker 1: also kind of staying, as we've seen in later games,
- 11:53Speaker 1: sometimes they can let people get back into things. They
- 11:56Speaker 1: didn't get the first down on this play, It was
- 11:58Speaker 1: challenged when Trevor rushing forward. They went four on fourth
- 12:01Speaker 1: and one, which I don't think anybody was surprising and
- 12:02Speaker 1: Colin wanted to do. And then they get a touchdown
- 12:04Speaker 1: and then not that it didn't feel like it was
- 12:06Speaker 1: already kind of out of reach at that point, but
- 12:08Speaker 1: that really solidified it and they kind of stayed with
- 12:10Speaker 1: their foot of the gap.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Listen, this team played tough yesterday and the Titans. The
- 12:14Speaker 2: one thing John that you knew that they could do
- 12:16Speaker 2: was play physical upfront, because when you have a big
- 12:19Speaker 2: body like Jeffrey Simmons who can wreck things, you have
- 12:22Speaker 2: to be tougher than they were. And it was good
- 12:24Speaker 2: to see that the Jaguars were.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Yeah, the toughness showed up. I mean they.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I think the Titans there were some moments and Trevor
- 12:33Speaker 3: talked about in the post game that they wish they
- 12:35Speaker 3: had finished better the Jaguars, but the reason they didn't
- 12:38Speaker 3: finish better the Titans are pretty good defensive front. I
- 12:40Speaker 3: thought key to this game for the Jaguars when they
- 12:43Speaker 3: did put together drives, they finished them with touchdowns.
- 12:48Speaker 4: A couple of key moments.
- 12:48Speaker 3: One we missed at the very end of the first
- 12:51Speaker 3: half when the Titans had a chance to maybe get
- 12:53Speaker 3: a touchdown and get back to what fifteen to nine,
- 12:55Speaker 3: fifteen to ten, You get the fourth down stop and
- 12:58Speaker 3: then you get the field goal fifteen points instead of
- 13:02Speaker 3: a six point game. Big swings in the NFL that
- 13:04Speaker 3: turned games into ployots. That was one, and this driveway
- 13:07Speaker 3: just showed.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It was Another's talk about some of this toughness when
- 13:09Speaker 1: your punter starts getting after it with the other team.
- 13:12Speaker 1: That's always interesting. Also, I do want to point out though,
- 13:14Speaker 1: on this play, I'm a little bit concerned about him
- 13:17Speaker 1: and Ross love to play, love to try to get
- 13:19Speaker 1: involved into things, and I'm concerned about Logan Cook's shoulders.
- 13:22Speaker 1: So we'll see what that actually ends up looking like.
- 13:24Speaker 1: He stayed in the game, continued to punt, but this
- 13:27Speaker 1: hit right here when he went down, and I was like,
- 13:30Speaker 1: did we just lose the punter?
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah? Listen, I love the attitude, I love the toughness.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Who doesn't in that locker room love Logan Cook, but
- 13:37Speaker 2: love let's be smart with Yeah, you are the only
- 13:40Speaker 2: punter on the roster, and you can be a weapon
- 13:43Speaker 2: for this team, especially as you get deep into December.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Let's play smart football.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I might have saved a touchdown though, so you know,
- 13:52Speaker 3: I kind of get his instinct, you know, right this
- 13:56Speaker 3: was I wrote in the ozone to det Logan Cook.
- 14:00Speaker 3: He's had enough, he's had enough, He's.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Not then we'll get to this fight that kind of
- 14:07Speaker 1: bridged out after this. And what I like to point
- 14:11Speaker 1: out with this fight that Logan Cook's also involved in.
- 14:14Speaker 1: He was in on the zizel Shire fight last year
- 14:17Speaker 1: against the Texas as well. So if you think Logan
- 14:20Speaker 1: Cook's the one to mest with normally go for the puncher,
- 14:22Speaker 1: that is not true.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Logan Cook is all Southern man now. I mean you
- 14:26Speaker 2: see him in his big truck pulling up. I mean,
- 14:28Speaker 2: this is a guy who likes to be in the action.
- 14:31Speaker 2: And I love the way that he ran across the
- 14:33Speaker 2: field for this. And you'll also notice how quickly Ross Madison,
- 14:37Speaker 2: who was out of the game with the back injury,
- 14:39Speaker 2: was in there throwing people to the ground to get
- 14:42Speaker 2: them off of his punter. You know, it was just
- 14:46Speaker 2: a moment in the game with a lot of penalties
- 14:48Speaker 2: and that's kind of embarrassing, but it was also a
- 14:50Speaker 2: moment of toughness, and I know that's a theme that
- 14:52Speaker 2: you're really hitting on.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it was entertaining.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Here's madisick pushing.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Yeah it was.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And I'm not diminishing. Those guys are a really good friends.
- 15:03Speaker 3: They ran each other's wedding. I think Logan administered Ross's wedding,
- 15:08Speaker 3: So cool story. Liam After the game, I think said
- 15:14Speaker 3: it best.
- 15:15Speaker 4: They played with an edge, for sure, but let's be a.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Little smart and not lose the entire special teams getting
- 15:21Speaker 1: hurt definitely something to keep an eye but good to
- 15:23Speaker 1: see them all kind of and I think do we
- 15:25Speaker 1: spoke about this a little bit on postgame radio. They've
- 15:27Speaker 1: played together for a while and they've gone through some
- 15:30Speaker 1: things we know, in the past couple of years. But
- 15:32Speaker 1: just the fight for each other on that team is
- 15:34Speaker 1: great to see, even some of the younger guys that
- 15:35Speaker 1: like Laquent buying it as well.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Yeah, as much as you joke around about special teams,
- 15:40Speaker 3: Bruja has, the element that he touched on is exactly right.
- 15:46Speaker 4: There is a closeness.
- 15:47Speaker 3: On this team, the core of which I think are
- 15:50Speaker 3: guys who have been.
- 15:51Speaker 4: Here and been through some stuff. I think that'll serve
- 15:54Speaker 4: him while.
- 15:55Speaker 2: That locker room, especially as you get in now to
- 15:58Speaker 2: the really gritty part of the schedule where you've got
- 16:00Speaker 2: the Colts, then two weeks later you go to Denver
- 16:03Speaker 2: and three weeks later you're in Indianapolis. That locker room
- 16:06Speaker 2: has to be together and something like that, something like
- 16:09Speaker 2: Logan Cook and Ross, Mattisk and Dewey can pull a
- 16:12Speaker 2: lot of guys around them.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Absolutely stay with us here on jag Zam. After the break,
- 16:16Speaker 1: we'll give you our hot takes coming up. Welcome back
- 16:28Speaker 1: to jag Zam. Hot Takes today, brought to you by
- 16:30Speaker 1: Firehouse SUPs.
- 16:32Speaker 5: We need everybody, We need a city to show up,
- 16:35Speaker 5: you know, and support us, and because we want to
- 16:38Speaker 5: make them proud. You know, we're continuing to try to
- 16:41Speaker 5: put a product on the field that our city and
- 16:45Speaker 5: community can be proud of. And that's something that means
- 16:48Speaker 5: a lot to our team, it means a lot to
- 16:49Speaker 5: our players, and we want to continue to do that.
- 16:53Speaker 5: So as much support as we can get from Duval
- 16:56Speaker 5: that would be huge.
- 16:57Speaker 1: It's going to be a big one on Sunday, hopefully
- 16:59Speaker 1: a good turnout for everybody. I'm excited.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a buzz in the city.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I mean you can feel it this morning as you
- 17:05Speaker 2: talk to people. I was at Public's and I mean
- 17:07Speaker 2: there was four people that wanted to talk about it
- 17:09Speaker 2: at seven o'clock this morning.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Of course, Brian, what's your hot take for us today?
- 17:12Speaker 2: The Jaguars are the number one run defense and the
- 17:19Speaker 2: Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is the number one running
- 17:22Speaker 2: back and he leaves the league with fifteen rushing touchdowns.
- 17:27Speaker 2: But I'm gonna go a different direction with it and
- 17:28Speaker 2: focus on just the rushing numbers. I think the Jaguars
- 17:31Speaker 2: will have a better day on the ground than the Colts.
- 17:34Speaker 2: The Colts the last two weeks have failed to crack
- 17:36Speaker 2: one hundred yard mark against the Chiefs and the Texans,
- 17:40Speaker 2: and I think that the Jaguars, we've been talking about toughness.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I think after yesterday when they didn't really run the
- 17:46Speaker 2: ball very well, will come out focused on stopping Jonathan Taylor,
- 17:51Speaker 2: but more importantly on getting their running game going. And
- 17:54Speaker 2: I think it's a pride thing, it's a toughness thing.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I think here at home that the Jaguars will have
- 17:59Speaker 2: a better day on thend then the Colts, and I
- 18:01Speaker 2: think that's why the Jaguars will win the game. I'm
- 18:04Speaker 2: calling that shot on Monday because I believe that they
- 18:06Speaker 2: will have the better running offense on Sunday.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think the good news on that front
- 18:12Speaker 3: is Trevor Lawrence in the last few weeks. I get
- 18:15Speaker 3: the interceptions against the Cardinals, but starting to make plays
- 18:19Speaker 3: downfield more and I think Colt's defense and all defenses
- 18:23Speaker 3: have to concern themselves with that sum Now you wonder
- 18:28Speaker 3: I haven't watched Andy. Those rushing numbers tell me that
- 18:31Speaker 3: teams are stacking against John Taylor and right now Jones within.
- 18:37Speaker 4: That may be advantage Jaguars. There we'll see on Sunday.
- 18:40Speaker 4: You hope it is.
- 18:40Speaker 2: There's one more reason why I think that the Jaguars
- 18:42Speaker 2: will have success running, and that's Deforce Buckner, who is
- 18:44Speaker 2: a game wrecker, is on injured reserve and not playing,
- 18:48Speaker 2: and they don't look the same on the defensive front
- 18:50Speaker 2: without him.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I went with there's no questioning a toughness at this point.
- 18:56Speaker 3: And I'm not sure if you've watched this team from
- 19:01Speaker 3: week one why you would have questioned it anyway. But
- 19:05Speaker 3: to do what they did yesterday, it'll be overlooked when
- 19:11Speaker 3: you analyze this season because it's, oh, you should beat
- 19:13Speaker 3: the Titans, and they should have beaten the Titans.
- 19:16Speaker 4: But the way they did it, the focus that that took.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Dewey said after the game, the reason that you know,
- 19:24Speaker 3: the key to this week was that they didn't look ahead.
- 19:29Speaker 3: It's not always easy to do. So you have to
- 19:33Speaker 3: be impressed with the culture, all that stuff we talk
- 19:38Speaker 3: about that Liam Cohen has instilled in this team.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I thought his demeanor after the.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Game yesterday was very matter of fact and focused. You
- 19:48Speaker 3: play all these games and you go through all this
- 19:52Speaker 3: to get here, and has that ever felt truer than
- 19:56Speaker 3: it does right now, meaning all the ups and downs,
- 19:59Speaker 3: but we are You're eight and four.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Everything's in front of you. This is what it's about.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And the fact that he has made this a strong
- 20:09Speaker 3: mental and physical team is really impressive.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Twelve games in well, when they came in, Tony, James
- 20:16Speaker 2: and Liam together, they talked about Jaguars DNA and they
- 20:19Speaker 2: wanted football players.
- 20:20Speaker 3: They want a.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Tough guy football players. And just look at the season
- 20:24Speaker 2: that Eric Armstead has put together. Right after being a
- 20:27Speaker 2: disappointment last year, he bought in completely and has been
- 20:30Speaker 2: a force, not just in the middle of the defense,
- 20:33Speaker 2: but he's been that guy in the locker room as well.
- 20:36Speaker 2: They got an older vet who had a salty didn't
- 20:40Speaker 2: have a great taste in his mouth after the way
- 20:42Speaker 2: that last season went, who completely bought in and has
- 20:45Speaker 2: helped lift this thing up. And they're the number one
- 20:47Speaker 2: run defense in large part because of the way that
- 20:50Speaker 2: he has played. And I just think if you sidle
- 20:52Speaker 2: up next to Tony out on the practice field during
- 20:55Speaker 2: the week, he will tell you we want football players,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and that's kind of the mentality that they've got in
- 20:59Speaker 2: the locker now. Tough guys will fight you for every
- 21:01Speaker 2: inch of the field, and it's been a lot of
- 21:03Speaker 2: fun to watch.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Absolutely one of mine's a little bit of a head
- 21:07Speaker 1: of itself. We're not quite sure yet, but I am
- 21:10Speaker 1: a bit concerned about Parker Washington, who left the game
- 21:13Speaker 1: with a hip injury. He did not return, and knowing
- 21:15Speaker 1: how tough he is and normally will play through, my
- 21:18Speaker 1: concern is a little bit if they lose him. To me,
- 21:22Speaker 1: the loss of Parker Washington would be bigger than the
- 21:24Speaker 1: loss of Travis Hunter, even to this team right now,
- 21:26Speaker 1: because while we talk about what he does on the offense,
- 21:29Speaker 1: Marco Washington's role on special teams has shifted at least
- 21:33Speaker 1: two or three games in favor for the Jaguars this season,
- 21:36Speaker 1: and without him out there on punk returns, I'm not
- 21:39Speaker 1: sure what it would look like in some of these
- 21:40Speaker 1: other games. And obviously the loss on offense would be huge.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Well, you know, he's my MVP. I mean the way
- 21:46Speaker 2: that he impacted offense, the way that he came and
- 21:48Speaker 2: helped the quarterback lift his game back up and the
- 21:50Speaker 2: way that he has been on special teams. I thought
- 21:52Speaker 2: he was the most valuable player on the roster. It
- 21:54Speaker 2: would be a big loss. And we saw a hip
- 21:56Speaker 2: injury take Breton Strange, and we don't know at this point,
- 21:59Speaker 2: we haven't heard it's even the same thing, but if
- 22:02Speaker 2: it is a hip injury, it could be a couple
- 22:04Speaker 2: of weeks.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:05Speaker 3: I think what's interesting is we've reached the point we've
- 22:09Speaker 3: seen this team so often this year sort of just
- 22:12Speaker 3: play through situations that my first instinct is, well, they'll
- 22:16Speaker 3: be fine, but there is a tipping point, and Parker
- 22:20Speaker 3: Washington may have turned himself into such a tipping point.
- 22:23Speaker 3: And you loved the trust we talked about the trust
- 22:26Speaker 3: that Trevor's having with these guys. You'd love to go
- 22:29Speaker 3: into the last four or five games of the season
- 22:31Speaker 3: with Strange, Jacoby, Parker Washington and have BATJ coming back.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Parker's a big part of that trust.
- 22:38Speaker 1: We'll get an update on that hopefully later on this week,
- 22:40Speaker 1: maybe today, but we'll definitely know something a bit later
- 22:43Speaker 1: on and this week about what the timeline for him
- 22:45Speaker 1: is gonna end up looking like. But stay with us
- 22:48Speaker 1: here on jag Zam. We'll tell you what's coming up
- 22:49Speaker 1: to the rest of the week after the break yafcoming
- 23:02Speaker 1: Jaguars Colts game presented by Hyundai Test Drive a new
- 23:06Speaker 1: Hunday today only at your local Hondai dealer.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Hey, how.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Guys, Hey, guys, earning to play meaningful games in November
- 23:25Speaker 5: and December.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Guys, that's what that is.
- 23:28Speaker 5: We have earned this right, have earned it. Okay, guys, Winners, win, winners,
- 23:36Speaker 5: win a.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Job, fellas.
- 23:37Speaker 3: You gotta keep rolling.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Get healthy.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Guys stepping up.
- 23:39Speaker 3: It was huge.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Let's keep rolling.
- 23:42Speaker 1: There's win, guys, and we're winners right now. Jaguars are
- 23:45Speaker 1: first place in the AFC South.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Just pretty good.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Just win, Just keep winning and take care of business.
- 23:50Speaker 2: If you do, then neither the Colts nor the Texans
- 23:52Speaker 2: can do much to you.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Final thought, I know we're getting out here.
- 23:55Speaker 3: We really haven't mentioned Von Hamilton just because the show
- 23:59Speaker 3: mannered different rections, such a big game. I'm efforting him
- 24:02Speaker 3: for the ozone podcast this week. But what a fun
- 24:06Speaker 3: story for him to come in a long snap for
- 24:08Speaker 3: what a quarter and a half, he had five snaps.
- 24:11Speaker 4: They all came off.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I mean, they are a couple of you know, high
- 24:14Speaker 3: but guess what, he hadn't done that even practiced since
- 24:18Speaker 3: training camp, So credit to dham That was fun.
- 24:20Speaker 2: And I do think it'll get lost because we'll put
- 24:22Speaker 2: this game to the side with the magnitude of the
- 24:23Speaker 2: Colts game coming up. But the way that Colvan Landon
- 24:26Speaker 2: moved positions, the way that they had to adjust on defense,
- 24:30Speaker 2: the way that Devon Hamilton had to step in, the
- 24:32Speaker 2: way that this team found a way to get the
- 24:35Speaker 2: job done with key players on the sideline speaks to
- 24:39Speaker 2: not just the culture but the way that this team
- 24:41Speaker 2: is constructed that they're able to overcome things like that. Now,
- 24:44Speaker 2: this is a completely different level this week against the Colts,
- 24:48Speaker 2: but it was impressive to see them all adjust.
- 24:50Speaker 3: And don't forget Hamilton did that with the game still
- 24:52Speaker 3: in the bounce in the first half. Yeah, where if
- 24:55Speaker 3: a snap sails over Logan's head, game could be completely
- 24:59Speaker 3: differ all and safety. You're talking point swings. So again,
- 25:02Speaker 3: it's pretty cool to see.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Absolutely, we saw Whyett Milam for the first time as well,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and some other injuries kind of taking place. So we'll
- 25:08Speaker 1: hope to get some updates later on that this week,
- 25:10Speaker 1: but we'll be back with you as the big week
- 25:12Speaker 1: the Jaguars taken on the Colt for first place in
- 25:15Speaker 1: the AFC South up for grabs. We'll see you later
- 25:17Speaker 1: on this week on Jack's Am
