- 1:33[SPEAKER_04]: Whoa, yeah, too.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I told you, you drive around with that.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, people are thinking they're getting pulled over.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: They're getting seizures for sure.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_04]: 100% they are like the Pokemon Ches.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's like this.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's like, it does exactly that.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_04]: Well, Jack and my friend, we are fully in the Christmas season.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_04]: I am just came off a week vacation, which I was very, very happy to get the wife and
- 2:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_04]: Cannon Beach, Oregon, and I got to spend a week down there, such a blessing.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_04]: We love going to the beach in the off season, one because there's hardly any people.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_04]: And two, we enjoy the stormy, rainyness that the PNW offers at the beach.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I got to hang out with her for a week, and I got to shout out my man, Kofi.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not gonna try say his last name, Kofia, you know, I love you, but I think it's also has a weird last name, I'm not gonna try, I think it's a do bond in.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_04]: I do bomb him.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_04]: I want him to be better.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_04]: It's better than what I was going to try.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_04]: So we're going with Kofi.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_04]: He goes by Kofi to his friends.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_04]: I got to hook up with him.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_04]: He was by just by sheer Providence.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_04]: He was a teach in a hermeneutics class at a little Bible college in Ken I mean.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yep, yep, yep down there at all E. Colo, which is an unfortunate name for a Bible
- 3:09[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's an unfortunate name for anything.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: It was called other than the DC Cole.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, our C Cole, maybe we'd have a lot in a chain car.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_04]: But it was fun cooking up without brother as well.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_04]: That was a good time getting to see him.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_04]: And we got to go get a go-go-go-go-roop beer together.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_04]: I can't have been just got some good repair spots.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, that's not the hear another.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_04]: Jack and my friend, we've got...
- 3:37[SPEAKER_04]: a lot to get to today, but as always, it's time for everyone's favorite segment.

- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: With your host, Josh Loftus, on Jack Mary, and remember kids, it's not heresy if you're
- 4:05[SPEAKER_04]: This is, don't forget to eat your Instagrams and remember kids, it's not heresy.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_04]: If you believe it hard enough, that's how it works.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_04]: Jack, my friend, I've got some good ones for you today as always.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to start off with ol' Jesse, ol' Jamie, the Jesse, the dude, the plant.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_03]: Coming out of the guys with it so bad, right, right.

- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: Dear, you see the sun.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: You see the Holy Ghost.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: No, not like that.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: Lightning that.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, please.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: Cralis.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_04]: Dude, how does he...
- 5:08[SPEAKER_04]: The...
- 5:10[SPEAKER_04]: This Jesse do plantus before we go on with this video.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: Because it gets worse.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_04]: Jesse Dupantus is a testament to the long-suffering and patience of God Almighty.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_03]: True.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: Very true.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_04]: The fact that he is still standing.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_04]: While it's while making statements like that, yeah.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_04]: It's only by the grace of God and the long suffering of the Almighty.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, let's continue.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: You see God incarnate in real life.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: So you mad at me because I'm blessed.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm just acting like my dad.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: Because he's blessed.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: You mad at me because I live in a mansion.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just acting like my father.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: He's living in a mansion.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: Don't shout me down when I'm freezing.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, he just never gets sick.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm just acting like my father.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: He took my own firm, but he bought me.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't want, why is it?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't want sickness on the flesh?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: Because he'd do else in it.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: And dwells in it.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: He does this, it?
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: He dwells.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_04]: I can't anymore.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_04]: The clip longer.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: I got to stop it did that it's it's so bad and you know you know what's interesting again, I could go all like like Then why is your hair gray?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I got a lot of money.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, your your face looks no saggy there sir.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_04]: What's exactly exactly.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, I could go all like
- 6:46[SPEAKER_04]: introspective like let's let's let's really dig in into like the mannerisms and things like that really just tear this apart But you'll ever notice with these guys whenever they're they say something like like very inflammatory They always take a little break of they're like hey, don't like don't get mad at me.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_04]: I'm preaching I'm I'm preaching right like that's that's the equivalent of like the Southern like I'm gonna insult you and then just say oh well a bless us art like he is as
- 7:13[SPEAKER_04]: dumb as two rocks being hit together to start a campfire, but less is hard.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_04]: That's the equivalent of that.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'm God.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: Don't don't don't stop me.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_04]: I'm preaching.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, don't touch don't touch God's annoying.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_04]: Don't touch the annoying.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's just like the same thing.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_03]: They love that.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: They love that.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_04]: Well, if that wasn't the dumbest thing.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_04]: You got something to top.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it dude.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think this top.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think it might happen.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that no Jesse, Jesse's going blatant blasphemy.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_04]: But this one.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: This is this next clip is why.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_04]: The world thinks Christians are weird dude.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just I'm going to let it play.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to let it play Hold your hand up like this five is the pastor the prophet the evangelist the teacher Did I miss one?
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Apostle what's this is there one finger that's bigger than the others?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's the middle finger the middle finger it stands out from the rest because the middle finger represents the evangelist It's the one who sent out goes further
- 8:13[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of evangelists get in road rage on the highway these days.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just saying, I'm just going to say that first.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_04]: Dude, I look at all the evangelists around here.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my goodness.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_03]: This is token five full.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_03]: This is token like prosperity gospel stuff right now.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_03]: This is absolute token prosperity.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_03]: The five full ministry crap.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't understand.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: Didn't mean.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_03]: Listen to me.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_04]: Evangelists are the middle finger.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_04]: Let's just say that.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_04]: Don't give the evangelists the middle finger.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_04]: Evangelists are the middle finger.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Brother, this finger is the ring finger.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know what this represents?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: This represents the pastor.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Because the pastor is married to the church.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know what this one is?
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: This finger?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_04]: Jesus is married to the church.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_04]: But let's continue.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: This finger is the prophet.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because always pointing you back to Jesus.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is what God says.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is the way for your family.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: I can see a cloud and it's heavy with rain.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know why the teacher's little finger?
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Because the teacher is small enough and nimble enough to get in your ear and get through all the defenses and the teaching of the word of God gets in your mind and we're safe, we're going to renew our mind.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know why the thumbs call the apostle?
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because the apostle touches every other part.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: So there's an apostolic anointing on us to release what's in you, and the church will never become what the church is supposed to be until we have, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: This is why you need to take the seed of your life and start to lead.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: You need to step out and do what God's called you to do.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
- 9:50[SPEAKER_04]: This is the jealous.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_04]: This is so dumb dude.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_04]: I can't I see stuff like this and there's people Do you go in the comments and they're all like do this touched me bro like this So this was this is so deep.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_04]: This is the best thing that we're that is absolute Hot trash
- 10:08[SPEAKER_04]: that is what passes as preaching these days.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, that's an absolute dog water dude.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_04]: I can't believe stuff like this is what gets popular, like you know why they call it the thumb.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: Because because the thumb touches everything that I'll be honest with you.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_04]: I have a hard time with my thumb getting to that pinky.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so Jack my question to you.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_04]: I guess is which which finger are you?
- 10:40[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, man I mean, I would Are you the middle finger?
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean still close see as a middle Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know middle finger for those of you on YouTube.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: I did not football Some of us are a thumb Some of us are a point of finger But I'm sure in the gospel.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'm middle finger
- 10:58[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, my son says what so many times so every time he says what I feel like he's just I'm like, are you stone cold Steve Austin now?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Where are you going to go?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_04]: What if you're any shared Jesus with your middle finger give me a heck yeah?
- 11:12[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 11:14[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god, it's so dumb it's so dumb jacked my friend it is not this kind of thing that falls under the category of
- 11:28[SPEAKER_04]: liberty of conscience, which is what we're talking about today.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_04]: What a segue.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_04]: Nice job.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: You're professional.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_04]: You've been doing this awhile.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_04]: There are many things that fall under the category of the liberty of conscience or Christians freedom in Christ.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_04]: That's a big deal for us Baptists.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_04]: We have an entire chapter in the 689 dedicated to the liberty of the conscience.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_04]: And there are many in this world, Jack, that would seek to bind the consciences of the believers over things that biblically should be left up to the conscience to decide whether or not that is a good and beneficial thing for that person to do.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_04]: Things like our instant grams today would not fall under that because those are blatant Absolute readers are seriously you're just or just hogwash or hogwash right Your liberty in Christ does not give you the credence to be an idiot.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, all right.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_04]: It says it does not
- 12:45[SPEAKER_04]: Someone's going to clip that.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_03]: Someone's going to clip that.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_04]: Just because you are free in Christ does not mean you're allowed to be dumb.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: But Jack, my friend, we take the liberty of the conscience very seriously.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_04]: Not just as Baptist, but I believe we should take it seriously as Christians, especially coming from, you know, again, like we're in December, but, you know, give me a chance and I'll relate it back to, you know, a reformation month somehow.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_04]: The entire reformation.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: One of the sparks that started it was this freedom of the conscience, we should be able to worship the Lord in the way.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_04]: I'll ultimately as scripture dictates, but you're not in the way that is dictated to us by man, a pope a priest or a pastor.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_04]: And there's this growing trend, Jack, which is really sad to see in reformed the reformed culture that we live in, both big are and smaller, to bind to the consciences of men and women and call it, you know, good right and biblical when in fact,
- 14:04[SPEAKER_04]: these issues that are being bound are conscious issues.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't mean that they're not important.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't mean that you shouldn't have a position.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_04]: but it does mean that we need to make sure that we are not taking our position and claiming it to be the only good right and biblical position to hold when scripture does not allow us to do that.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_04]: And unfortunately, people's pride gets in the way.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_04]: Their own cultural or environmental situation that they're in comes into play and you start making rules for people.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_04]: that the scriptures do not make, right?
- 14:43[SPEAKER_03]: So not explicit enough.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like here's the thing too.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like you can, you can, you can make scriptures say whatever you want it to say at the end of the day.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_03]: But there is a way in which, in which you can exegiate the scriptures correctly to understand what their original author's intended.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_03]: And a lot of the time, the hot takes that Josh and I see that you'll see today.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there is proper exegesis taken because guys are putting on to the text things in which the author never meant for the text to say explicit that way.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, at least in one case.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: I know in the other case.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no for sure for sure.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_04]: So by means of a kind of segue into what we're wanting to talk about here, Jack, why don't you read
- 15:34[SPEAKER_04]: for the people, the portion out of the 689 regarding the, the, the, the, the liberty of conscience that we hold.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, yeah, I'm going to read two paragraphs that I think are important to our discussion paragraph one.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_03]: And this is in chapter 21 of the second London 1689.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_03]: So we're referred to as, um,
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: Consists in their freedom from the guilt of sin, the condemning wrath of God, the severity of the curse, or the severity and curse of the law, and in their being delivered from this present evil world, bondage to Satan and dominion of sin.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_03]: From the evil of afflictions, the fear and sting of death, the victory of the grave and everlasting damnation, also as also,
- 16:29[SPEAKER_03]: in their free access to God and yielding and their yielding obedience onto Him, not out of slaveish fear, but a childlike love and willing mind, all which were common also to believers under the law for the substance of them, but under the New Testament, the liberty of Christians is further enlarged.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: in their freedom from the yoke of a ceremonial law to which the Jewish church was subjected and in greater boldness of access to the Throne of Grace and in fuller communications of the free spirit of God.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: Then believers under the law did ordinarily partake of and there's several different cliffnotes and sections of scripture that this refers to and then paragraph two is very This is like the punch in the face.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, God alone is the Lord of the Conscience
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: And has left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men, which are in anything contrary to his word, or not contained in it.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: So that to believe such doctrines or obey such commands out of conscience is to betray true liberty of conscience,
- 17:58[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like that the first paragraph's the one and then the second paragraph's the two the one two punches basically right there there is a paragraph three I will say so I'll finish it up with paragraph three just as well.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_03]: They who upon pretense of Christian liberty do practice any sin or cherish any sinful lust as they do their pervert the main design
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: of the grace of the gospel to their own destruction, meaning, if you're using Christian liberty to keep sending, that's not the point of Christian liberty.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: Correct, right?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: So they wholly destroy the end of Christian liberty, which is that being delivered out of the hands of all our enemies, we might serve the Lord without fear.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_03]: Keywords, serve the Lord without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our lives.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: That really rounds it out, too, because it really shows you, like, hey, this isn't antinominism that we're talking about.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_03]: We're not talking about, okay, we're safe to make decisions, okay, and our conscience, the Lord is the conscience.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_03]: The Lord is over our conscience.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_03]: He is the Lord over our conscience.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: And we're also when it involves Christian liberty with the, with the, um,
- 19:14[SPEAKER_03]: real kind of crux of the creed is talking about is saying like just because we're talking about Christian liberty, it doesn't give you a segue into sinning and doing whatever you want to.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_03]: This is not that.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_03]: This is talking about and which makes sense to the believers back then when this confession was written.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: Believers in England did not have the ability to worship God in the way that they saw that the scriptures told them to worship God.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_03]: So all of the particular baptism in England were bound by the King not to do this or they'd be arrested.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so it only makes sense for believers after what we call the active toleration happened actually during the year 1689.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_03]: That's why we have this confession that it's called 1689.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_03]: When that happened, then you have this come forth.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: Then it becomes really
- 20:23[SPEAKER_03]: and to have this Christian freedom, this Christian liberty, to worship in the way that we see that this scripture is telling us and not to have it dictated to us by man.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_04]: And whenever you're having these conversations regarding the freedom that we have in Christ, no longer being bound by the chains of our sin, right?
- 20:43[SPEAKER_04]: We've been given a new identity, a new heart.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: You always have two pendulums that you can swing to.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_04]: And we've talked about this before, right?
- 20:51[SPEAKER_04]: the two pendulums that the two unbiblical responses to the grace that we have been given in Christ is either antinomianism, where there's no law whatsoever, we're just going to do whatever we want because Christ paid for it, there's less anxiousness, maybe.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, yeah, exactly, right, right, they're like my the coffers are full, therefore let's spend the money, right?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_04]: That's unbiblical, right, and we know that obviously from like Roman six Romans chapter six, which is what we say then, are we to continue the grace to send the grace may bound, Paul goes on to say binomines, Galatians chapter 5, verse 13, for you are called to freedom, brothers, not only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh,
- 21:33[SPEAKER_04]: but love and serve one another.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: That is one extreme that we have the propensity to go to in our flesh.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_04]: I will say this.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_04]: The other extreme, obviously, is legalism.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_04]: I would make the case that those
- 22:01[SPEAKER_04]: have a much harder time dealing with legalism in our hearts than we do Antanomienism.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_04]: Now, it's obviously not across the board, right?
- 22:12[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not saying that Antanomienism is not a problem within reform circles, right?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_04]: I think you have a lot of debotory happening in many circles that obviously need to be brought under subjection to the word of God, right?
- 22:29[SPEAKER_04]: But by and large Jack, I see so many more individuals in our camp coming from a legalistic standpoint than an antonomian one, yeah, a few examples, just recently, right, this guy
- 22:59[SPEAKER_04]: press because it's what they want and they put these things out because they know it's going to get pressed like it's a very manipulative way to you know utilize your freedom in Christ right let's just say that but this one was was very particular because this one affects the local church.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_04]: And I think in a very specific way, right?
- 23:20[SPEAKER_04]: He came out and he said this, speaking about parents, making the decision to either homeschool private school or public school or kids.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_04]: He said it is sinful.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so right off the bat, it is sinful.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_04]: Therefore, if we're going to call something sin, if we are to live soluscriptura, scripture is our authority, if you're gonna say something as sin, you must give me scripture to prove that this is sinful.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, that's the, them's the rules.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't make that, I didn't make that up.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: Sin must have a definition.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_04]: You must be able to point me in scripture.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_04]: Where is this sin?
- 24:02[SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_04]: we are in the matters of conscience, right?
- 24:06[SPEAKER_04]: But he goes on to say, it is sinful to send your children to public school in our day.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_04]: We would discipline a member at this point, it's a while.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: We built a Christian school that doesn't charge tuition to remove any excuse.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_04]: Barring custody issues, all of the children in our church receive a Christian education.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_04]: It's not complicated.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_04]: It's just hard.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: And then, uh, in the comments, uh, yo, yeah, someone asks what would the, what's the text that you're going to use the discipline, um, director.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_04]: What would the charge of discipline be?
- 24:48[SPEAKER_04]: And he goes on to say neglecting the duties attending, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, attendant to fatherhood.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_04]: One key text would be Ephesians, chapter six, verse four.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_04]: I've preached on this several
- 25:03[SPEAKER_03]: So let's go to Ephesians 6-4, let's do our diligence, mind you, this is, so I actually looked at this and this is a way in which it's looking at relationship matters, sure, right?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_03]: So Paul is talking about relationships, right?
- 25:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_04]: So Ephesians 6-4 says,
- 25:31[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so there we have the principle and the command given to us by Paul through the inspiration of the spirit to fathers to their children don't provoke them to anger right don't don't actively go after your children in order to cause anger in them right to be kind and gentle right and but it all he also says but bring them up in the discipline and the instruction of the Lord.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_04]: Okay?
- 25:57[SPEAKER_04]: That is the principle.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_04]: What Brian is doing is he is taking the biblical principle that is given in Ephesians.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_04]: And he is making a straight line now saying, and this is how that verse is applied in the life of Christians.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_04]: Okay?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_04]: Now there's nothing inherently wrong.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_04]: with taking a piece of scripture and saying okay now this is how we go about living this out right that is actually a job of the pastor when understood correctly is to take passages to exhort to encourage to convict right but what we must not do which is something that he
- 26:54[SPEAKER_04]: give one application for how those scriptures are to be lived out.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_04]: And then call any other applications, any other opinions.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_04]: Simple.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_04]: them's not the rules.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's not how it works.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's up.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's a big stretch too.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a huge stretch.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, just just just taking that verse in Ephesians.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_03]: There's there's a principle there.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: You're you're applying that principle.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_03]: Even you're applying modern day practice to ancient world now.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: So sure.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and he's, what was the, what was the, what was the practice then of the
- 27:36[SPEAKER_03]: like if they took their kids to certain other schools like if they took their kids to Hebrew school like they were sinning and they need to be disciplined like where's the line there well and he's making he's making the assumption and and and the assertion it's not the assumption he's making the assertion that there is not any possibility
- 27:58[SPEAKER_04]: within our within twenty twenty five the year that we live in there is not one instance in which a father
- 28:12[SPEAKER_04]: can fulfill the role of disciplining and raising his children up in the Lord if they are in public school.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_04]: That in every single situation, if your kids are in public school, you are abdicating your role as a parent and you are in sin, and therefore should be brought under church discipline according to the standards and rules of Brian.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_04]: That is one of the most arrogant.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to say it.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_04]: That is an extremely arrogant position to take because you are placing yourself in that moment.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_04]: In the, I believe, in the position of the Holy Spirit, to say now this is how you go about living this verse, like Brian is leaving no room for conscience.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_04]: He's leaving no room for other interpretations.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's leaving no room for the Lord of the Conscience at this point.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_03]: No, at this point.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_03]: Because he has the Lord of the Conscience.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_04]: He has set himself up as Lord of the Commons as Lord of the Conscience.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_04]: And this is why we bring this up because of that first line.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_04]: It'd be one thing, if this was your opinion, right?
- 29:23[SPEAKER_04]: If he said, you know, this was my opinion, I believe that you can't do this.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_04]: as a as a as a dad in our current climate today.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_04]: They're up.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_04]: Fine.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I don't I wouldn't agree with you.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_04]: But that's your opinion.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_04]: Cool.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_04]: He is willing to bring fellow brothers and sisters in Christ under church discipline for disagreeing with this conviction of his.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_04]: And this is why the liberty of the conscience is so important because we as pastors are not called to dictate the Consciousness of our people we are called to inform them and this goes beyond informing into dictating
- 30:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I mean, at this point, too, like, he's as he's as bad as the King's and the monarchs of England.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and where does it stop?
- 30:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's the, that's the key words.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like, where does it stop?
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I think he would just say, Oh, well, I want to be in the, in the halls like the, I want to be in the leagues.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, this guy can't even figure baptism out like he's baptizing babies and believers at his church I think he needs to cool it on how parents need to need to Need to parent their children until he figures baptism out on his end.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_04]: That's just that's just my fuck
- 30:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly, but yeah, it doesn't stop with him because there was another situation that we were Oh, yeah, I do have that.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, here's here's another example that we will pull up for you guys.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_04]: This is, and again, it's always the disqualified guys that have the hottest hottest of
- 31:16[SPEAKER_06]: Times and places are in who you share I'm with
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, right off the gate, you see the woman pastor, but just let's just put that aside for a second.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Casual culture is a cancer to both society and the church.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: Because the modern church has essentially become emotionally driven.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: Many people have reduced Christianity to this kind of relationship with Jesus language.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, in a relationship, we're comfortable with letting those we love and who love us.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: CSNR pajamas, but applying that logic to Christ and the gathering of worship of the church is to forget the crucial difference that we cannot confuse familiarity with reverence.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, Christ knows you intimately, but Christ is also the king, and kings are to be honored.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so my hope is that churches will restore dress codes, that reflect honor, and modesty, and dignity, and respect, and that this casualism stuff will finally go away.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so this is the insidious nature of clips like this because on the surface level, you peer that and it'd be like, no, that'll make sense, like, like, absolutely, like, of course, right?
- 32:42[SPEAKER_04]: But what he's doing is he's taking a good and right and biblical principle, we should honor Christ, we should be reverent in our worship, we should fear the Lord, all of the things are true, it should take worship seriously, all of that 100% on board.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_04]: But then he,
- 32:59[SPEAKER_04]: jumps across the street and says now this is how you do this dress codes y'all no scripture reference right there's no scripture there again and then same with Brian's tweet there's no scripture here it's it's then preceded with opinion
- 33:21[SPEAKER_04]: of how we faithfully live out of this principle and that's the problem.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_04]: And again, like the ironic thing there is that he says casual culture is a plague on the church.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_04]: Well, so is disqualified pastors?
- 33:35[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, yeah.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_04]: So let's just get that out of the gate for seriously.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_04]: So anyway, there's that.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: But it's like what is that saying?
- 33:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's like the
- 33:50[SPEAKER_04]: But that's how easily it happens.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_04]: You take a good and right principle and you expound on it and sounds great.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, now this is what it looks like to live this out and now you have stepped over the bounds that you were called to stay within.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_04]: right as pastors we preach the word we proclaim the word we say this is what the Lord says right we preach against sin that's clear in scripture there's many sins that are clear in scripture we preach against those we preach for holy living because that's what people do when they when they love Christ and they they live out of the freedom that they have been given
- 34:30[SPEAKER_04]: But we do not tread across to begin to dictate people's consciences because what we do then is we place ourselves in the role of the Spirit instead of the role of the prophet that preaches thus says the Lord, right?
- 34:50[SPEAKER_03]: it's a it's a problem Jack it's a big problem and we need to we need to do better at informing the consciences of our people not dictating them because there's a lot of dictating going around these days oh yeah yeah and I mean but this is I even taught I even said this to Josh earlier like this is kind of this is like the soft core cult language that happens yeah and then and then you're gonna start getting language from these guys
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: Well, anybody outside of our church or if anybody who doesn't subscribe to us and what and what we teach, I feel like this is this is that slippery slope that they're going to go down and hey, like
- 35:37[SPEAKER_04]: y'all can y'all have a right to wreck yourself but it doesn't mean that you can go around wrecking other people and other Christians lives as well too because you can't exigeat the text right so right yeah yeah and we have to do we have to do better as pastors we have to do better as Christians to not allow our personal application become law and that's very easy to do because we're very easily
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: driven to pride in arrogance and that's what the prideful heart does as it says it's right and everyone else is wrong
- 36:10[SPEAKER_04]: and my interpretation of this verse is correct and everyone else is wrong.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_04]: And my application of living out, what does it mean to glorify God with my body?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_04]: That's the only way to do it.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_04]: And anyone else that's doing this is not living up to the standard that they should be living to.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_04]: It's very easy to fall into those caverns into those ditches on either side of the road.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and we have to be very careful not to do that because this like you don't like like just take the whole like calling church to do dress codes, right?
- 36:49[SPEAKER_04]: At what point like who is the who is the barometer of that?
- 36:53[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, who's the who's the arbiter of truth at that?
- 36:55[SPEAKER_04]: Who's the arbiter of it, right?
- 36:57[SPEAKER_04]: Because the dress code of a church in like Tennessee or Alabama is going to be different than a then a dress code of a church in the P and W.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_04]: Right?
- 37:06[SPEAKER_04]: Like I was joking with you earlier today.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_04]: If I showed up to our church.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_04]: Right?
- 37:11[SPEAKER_04]: If I showed up to our church in a suit and tie.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_04]: I would get, I'd get mercilessly laughed at because it's just not the culture, right?
- 37:20[SPEAKER_04]: But people would like, like, P&W, they would look at you weird and like, I mean, what are you better than us?
- 37:25[SPEAKER_04]: What are you trying to do?
- 37:27[SPEAKER_04]: Are you trying to sell me a car?
- 37:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, if I went to a church down, maybe down South, in my jeans and flannel, they'd probably look at me weird, like, what's going on, you know?
- 37:37[SPEAKER_04]: You're condemned.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_04]: So, and that's where these guys, you know, guys like Dale and Brian, it's like these hot takes have no like real thought to them because you like if you think about it for five minutes, you're going to realize, you know, that standard that you're putting out right now,
- 38:01[SPEAKER_04]: It does not hold up in every person's situation or context.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_04]: You are determining truth through your own context.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and that's just arrogant.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_03]: And a lot of the times, too, like this is very regional, like you said, too.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yeah, if you were to take the same principles that we're talking about with Brian and with Dale and bring them overseas, yeah, just take just, okay, take your take your principles and bring them overseas.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like in some ways, yeah, like I think like clearly different, you know, if you are a Chinese citizen and is going to school in a Chinese government run school, yeah, that's probably they're probably not teaching you the right things.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but is that going to be the same case for people in
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like, gosh, let's say trying to think of an overtly Christian nation, pop one new giddy, actually, who just declared that they were a Christian nation in their constitution.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's going to be different.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_03]: So, or even like South Korea, that's very Protestant, evangelical.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_03]: All the time, any time, Christians in the United States always have this affinity for we need to batten down the hatches, we need to purify ourselves, we need to do all this stuff, and it's like, for what?
- 39:44[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we're doing all the right things.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like, why do we need more law?
- 39:49[SPEAKER_03]: Why do we need more law on top of this, guys?
- 39:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, again, follow the scriptures,
- 39:56[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes, and the other thing, too, is like, then you don't trust your, you don't trust the members of your church to do what's right.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_03]: You think that you're the arbiter of truth now.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_03]: And you're the arbiter of morality, which is that dangerous place to be in.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's not a position that any man has the ability to hold, because sooner or later, your pride is going to become so great that you're going to come crashing down and bring everyone else with you that has followed you down that path.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and we've seen that time and time again, right?
- 40:27[SPEAKER_04]: As you can't, you can't do that.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_04]: It's not, it's not sustainable, right?
- 40:31[SPEAKER_04]: So, so yeah, so I mean, so where do we go from here, right?
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: This is the problem.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: What's the solution?
- 40:36[SPEAKER_04]: Well, the first and ultimate solution is that your conscience must be dictated by the word of God.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_04]: Call sin sin and make sure that scripture calls it sin.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_04]: If it does not call it sin,
- 40:48[SPEAKER_04]: then it is in the realm of conscience, right?
- 40:50[SPEAKER_04]: And if it's in the realm of conscious that then we have grace for one another.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's a huge difference between discernment and having principles taking that into discernment.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_04]: yeah versus a clear like this is a offense that needs to be like characterizes like something to be put under church discipline for yeah exactly exactly yeah yeah and it and that's the it it seems like there's many people today that have very difficult time thinking in nuance like nuances are very difficult thing for a lot of these guys it seems like it's all black and
- 41:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and that's an issue because there are a lot of things in Scripture that give room for nuance, right?
- 41:41[SPEAKER_04]: And again, we're not talking about the clear things in Scripture.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_04]: You think that Scripture clearly calls sin.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_04]: We're talking about the things that are left up to conscience, right?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_04]: And we have to we have to be willing to
- 41:54[SPEAKER_04]: not even agree but disagree graciously and not call into question the other people's faithfulness because they happen to apply that principle differently than you, right?
- 42:06[SPEAKER_04]: Whether it's, you know, matters of Christian liberty with, like, cigars or alcohol, right, or public school, private school, Christian school, whether you have kids or not, right?
- 42:18[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry, like that.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_04]: I believe that falls under it.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, there's a lot of, there's a lot of things that people are very quick to call sin that Scripture does not.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_04]: It provides principles and it provides outlines, but it does not provide application because the Spirit does the work.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the Spirit takes the word of God and applies it to hearts individually.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_04]: And we, we have to leave room for that.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_04]: And when we don't,
- 42:49[SPEAKER_04]: Again, it's a very prideful thing to do, and we hinder the growth and the sanctification of our brothers and sisters, I believe, because we're raising people in our own image, not in the image of Christ.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_04]: So, let's scripture be your authority.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_04]: right at the lord be the lord of your conscience let the lord be the lord of the conscience man and because you know it he's a lot better at it than you are yeah let's just be clear like he's a lot better at it than any of these jackwackens right yeah exactly dude it's you're gonna be a you're gonna live a much happier and joyful life
- 43:27[SPEAKER_04]: If the Lord is raining over your conscience versus a man that's telling you, you need to dress different or do something different with your kids, that scripture is not explicit about.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, anyway, Jack, I feel like we could go on for a long time over this.
