- 0:00Speaker 1: Please welcome Jay Pharoah.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I didn't expect that, George. I didn't expect that. They're
- 0:25Speaker 2: excited to see you.
- 0:26Speaker 3: They're excited to see you.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I'm happy about that, man. I'm happy to see you.
- 0:30Speaker 2: You know what? This is one of the nicest, most
- 0:33Speaker 2: humblest people in the world. He deserves everything. That's very kind.
- 0:38Speaker 3: I appreciate you.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited about your new season coming up. So,
- 0:43Speaker 1: the quiz with balls.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yep, didn't name it myself. Sure wasn't me. Yeah. Fair enough.
- 0:49Speaker 1: This show, basically, it's a quiz show. And then if
- 0:52Speaker 1: you get answers wrong, you get hit with balls into water.
- 0:56Speaker 2: No, no, you get hit with big balls. Big balls
- 0:59Speaker 2: into water. Into water.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It's a pretty basic formula. Yeah.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Have you ever had anybody hit that was big enough
- 1:07Speaker 1: not to get knocked in by the ball?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. There were two people. One was a wrestler.
- 1:12Speaker 2: His name was Mata. Mata.
- 1:14Speaker 4: And then the other one, it was this dude from Nashville.
- 1:17Speaker 4: And I swear, he had cushion, Jack.
- 1:19Speaker 2: He got hit. He got hit, and he just was like...
- 1:24Speaker 2: He looked back. Like, he was offended the ball hit him.
- 1:28Speaker 4: He was like, I can't believe you tried to knock
- 1:30Speaker 4: me in.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And he had to jump in afterwards, you know? Oh,
- 1:33Speaker 2: you have to jump.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I feel like if the ball hits you and it
- 1:36Speaker 1: doesn't knock you in, that should be another shot right there.
- 1:39Speaker 2: You know what? I feel like we could incorporate that
- 1:42Speaker 2: next season. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Or let people dodge.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, if they get out of the way like this.
- 1:49Speaker 2: If they can shake it real fast. Yeah, then they deserve...
- 1:52Speaker 2: They deserve to be back. Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Because this is, like, jeopardy for people who can swim.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Absolutely. You know what the best part is, man? This
- 2:01Speaker 2: is like.
- 2:01Speaker 4: It's like family feud crossed with wipeout. Yeah. And I
- 2:05Speaker 4: always find when you have a show where the crowd
- 2:08Speaker 4: can play at home, yeah, you got a recipe for success,
- 2:11Speaker 4: of course. I mean, we're on season three, and, uh,
- 2:14Speaker 4: I mean, we're probably gonna go to four and five
- 2:16Speaker 4: and six, so.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that's amazing. Yeah. If anything....
- 2:23Speaker 1: What I like about this show is the consequences, you know?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Because sometimes you'll watch a family feud and you'll be like, oh, okay,
- 2:29Speaker 1: so that's it?
- 2:29Speaker 2: They can just be wrong?
- 2:32Speaker 4: You like people to get punished for their bad doing.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's what you like.
- 2:38Speaker 1: The only punishment from doing poorly on a family feud
- 2:41Speaker 1: is the car ride home. That's the only time where
- 2:45Speaker 1: it's like, really, Sheila?
- 2:46Speaker 2: Really? Really. Oh, really? You didn't know what color the
- 2:49Speaker 2: sky was? Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I panicked.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I don't know what to tell you.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Yo, there was a, yo, we, I got to speak
- 2:57Speaker 4: on Family Feud, too, because me and my family actually
- 2:59Speaker 4: did Celebrity Family Feud.
- 3:00Speaker 2: You know, with Steve Hawk. Yeah, play the feud, baby.
- 3:03Speaker 2: You know, we were up there with him.
- 3:05Speaker 4: And we had this question where they said, who is
- 3:08Speaker 4: one of the greatest pop stars, right? And then they
- 3:11Speaker 4: had Britney Spears, They had, what, it was two other people.
- 3:17Speaker 4: We said Prince, and then it was wrong. And Steve
- 3:21Speaker 4: Harvey got so offended.
- 3:22Speaker 3: He said, I ain't even know that they got that.
- 3:24Speaker 3: They're not up there?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Shoot, well, I guess we all going to go home now, boy.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So we all got up. He got up and walked
- 3:32Speaker 2: out with us. We all just walked off the set.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Because Prince is definitely one of the greatest pop stars.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Of all time. God dang it.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I appreciate the campaign you're on about this. A lot
- 3:49Speaker 1: of people will go on Family Feud and be like, yep, well,
- 3:51Speaker 1: we didn't get it.
- 3:52Speaker 2: You're like, no, they were wrong. Yes.
- 3:55Speaker 4: They were absolutely wrong. It happened two years ago, and
- 3:59Speaker 4: I'm still hurt.
- 4:00Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Have you had anyone like that on, like, the quiz
- 4:04Speaker 1: with balls?
- 4:04Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. Oh, yes.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Yo, there was this girl on the first episode. We
- 4:08Speaker 4: called it first season. Her name was Double Take Tina. because, um,
- 4:13Speaker 4: she got the question right, but she was peering over,
- 4:17Speaker 4: looking at other people, because she just knew she was.
- 4:19Speaker 2: And she fell in the water. Yeah. That's exactly what
- 4:22Speaker 2: happened with her.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And so, if you fall in the water, but you
- 4:25Speaker 1: didn't get pushed in the water by a ball, y'all
- 4:27Speaker 1: let people get up, and.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Then, okay, got you. You're still in. It's called... It's
- 4:31Speaker 2: the resurrection. You get back.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's amazing. Can you tell me about the Odyssey? Yes, sir,
- 4:38Speaker 2: I can tell you about the Odyssey.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Well, I would like to say I have been rapping
- 4:41Speaker 4: longer than I've been doing comedy.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I actually started as a rapper. When I was 13,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I was trash. But I got a lot better.
- 4:49Speaker 4: By the time I was 18, man, I had a
- 4:52Speaker 4: whole bunch of... I had this rap group that I
- 4:55Speaker 4: was in that we were doing, me and my homeboy.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I had a forum on MySpace. You remember MySpace, y'all?
- 5:00Speaker 2: You remember MySpace?
- 5:01Speaker 4: Yeah. So we did this form called Heavy Spitters, and
- 5:04Speaker 4: it would be different people from different states battling each other.
- 5:09Speaker 4: And I orchestrated it, and I kept rapping. And I
- 5:12Speaker 4: met up with this producer. His name is Miles William,
- 5:15Speaker 4: who I became really friendly with. That's my bro. He's
- 5:19Speaker 4: done songs for Eminem, Beyonce. He's done for Drake, for everybody, DaBaby, anything.
- 5:24Speaker 4: He's got platinum records, whatever. So we actually started recording
- 5:29Speaker 4: in 2015. And by 2016, we had a song. But
- 5:34Speaker 4: we ain't do nothing with it. So we were like, yo,
- 5:36Speaker 4: we've got to put out a full, cohesive project. And
- 5:40Speaker 4: we came together in 2024, and we created this idea.
- 5:44Speaker 4: And it's basically me in another dimension if people would
- 5:49Speaker 4: give me the power to save planet Earth.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, which I won't do. That's too much.
- 5:57Speaker 4: But the themes in this album, brother, are, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 4: you can have all the money in the world, you know,
- 6:05Speaker 4: but that's not going to make you happy. What makes
- 6:07Speaker 4: you happy is having love, having connection, and being able
- 6:10Speaker 4: to give what you've earned all back because you can't
- 6:13Speaker 4: take it with you in the end.
- 6:14Speaker 2: So that's what the.
- 6:15Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 6:15Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I love your cover art, too.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh, thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, the cover art's dope. A.I.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Is doing a great job, you know? They get it
- 6:27Speaker 4: right sometimes, you know?
- 6:29Speaker 1: So then, with the music, you know, what was the
- 6:33Speaker 1: reasoning behind... We discovered you first through comedy. So why
- 6:38Speaker 1: did you choose to sort of showcase comedy before music?
- 6:42Speaker 4: Well, it just popped first. You know, it wasn't like
- 6:46Speaker 4: something that I chose. It was just, you know, hey,
- 6:50Speaker 4: Lorne Michaels, hey, you ready to come up? You just
- 6:52Speaker 4: got to, you know. Lorne calls you for SNL. What
- 6:54Speaker 4: am I going to do, put out a mixtape?
- 6:56Speaker 2: No, I'm going to go... No, that's fair. That's fair.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Especially when you're, like, battle rapping. Because this is the thing. Like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I've thought about this before because I used to watch
- 7:04Speaker 1: battle rapping the entire time when I.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Was in high school. Yeah, I still do, right?
- 7:08Speaker 1: And it is a wild thing when you're watching battle
- 7:11Speaker 1: rap and then you know... that the organizer is in
- 7:15Speaker 1: the bracket. Because then it's like, you're basically battling who's
- 7:18Speaker 1: gonna pay you. And that just, that's gotta be nerve-racking
- 7:22Speaker 1: for the other person.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, battle your boss. I mean, if you win,
- 7:26Speaker 2: you win.
- 7:27Speaker 1: If you lose, you.
- 7:27Speaker 2: you lose. You know what I'm saying? Um, you know what?
- 7:32Speaker 4: I've got a lot of friends, actually, who are battle rappers. Shout-out,
- 7:35Speaker 4: and I gotta say his name. Shout-out to Chilla Jones.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I don't know if you know who he is.
- 7:38Speaker 2: You know Chilla? You know Chilla? That's my dude. Wow! What?
- 7:42Speaker 1: Man!
- 7:43Speaker 2: Look, y'all don't understand. Look, the black actors. Y'all don't understand. Um, so,
- 7:48Speaker 2: Chilla Jones, he's really dope, man. He's dope. I know
- 7:51Speaker 2: Loaded Lux. I know all of those guys.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Loaded Lux?
- 7:54Speaker 2: Okay. I'm still a battle rap head. So, I still,
- 7:56Speaker 2: I love it. I love lyricism. That's my thing. You know,
- 7:59Speaker 2: my mother's from Brooklyn.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I'm not, I sound like I am because I'm a
- 8:02Speaker 4: good at impersonations.
- 8:04Speaker 2: But, um.
- 8:05Speaker 4: But, uh, yeah, I'm all about the New York rawness
- 8:09Speaker 4: of lyricism and everything.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Loaded Lux.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It's like royalty. Beloved! What's up, King? Bless, King. Damn,
- 8:17Speaker 2: I'm giving him a lot of clout. This is crazy
- 8:20Speaker 2: right now.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Y'all don't know, but that's a great Loaded Lux just now.
- 8:22Speaker 2: It is. It is.
- 8:24Speaker 4: I find, Josh, a lot of the impressions that I do, well,
- 8:28Speaker 4: like 50 of them, I can't even do no more
- 8:30Speaker 4: because the people, they ain't relevant anymore.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Oh, yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 1: No, it is tough when it's like, oh, man, I
- 8:36Speaker 1: was going to do this great impression.
- 8:40Speaker 2: But he got me too. Yeah, it's just.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Now no one wants to see or hear from him.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Nobody wants.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Okay, so I have a quick request for you.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Sure, man.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Um, I've been working on something. The same way that,
- 8:52Speaker 1: you know, you were working on music all this time,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I've been working on a bit of a, uh, political drama.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Like a, uh, movie of sorts.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Really?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Could be a series, but I think it's more of
- 9:03Speaker 1: a movie.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It's a movie.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And I'm hoping that because you can do so many
- 9:07Speaker 1: great impressions, that we can do a bit of a
- 9:10Speaker 1: table read right now, if it's all right.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I mean, I don't mind at all. Yeah, let's, let's
- 9:14Speaker 2: do it. Would y'all like that? Yeah. And so.
- 9:23Speaker 1: We're going to do one of the scenes, okay?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And I'll do, like, the stage direction.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And then I'll just sort of toss to you, okay?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Interior, Oval Office, night. President Trump sits in his chair
- 9:39Speaker 1: in a bad mood.
- 9:41Speaker 5: It's a terrible day.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It's an absolutely....
- 9:46Speaker 5: Terrible day, but it's still phenomenal because I'm breathing and
- 9:50Speaker 5: I'm the greatest thing God has ever put on this earth.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Oh. Okay. Suddenly, the door bursts open. President Bill Clinton
- 10:05Speaker 2: walks in.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Well, listen, Trump, you did some things for me earlier,
- 10:11Speaker 5: and I think you're gonna have to repeat them again.
- 10:13Speaker 2: You know, uh....
- 10:24Speaker 1: Just when all seems lost for Trump, who smashes through
- 10:27Speaker 1: the window, but President Barack Obama.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Now, hold on. Now, everybody wait a minute. Now, this
- 10:34Speaker 2: is the Oval Office. It's not the Oral Office. Okay?
- 10:46Speaker 2: The three all start arguing.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Oh, Lord.
- 10:52Speaker 3: You know, it's just, you always have to ruin my moment.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Well, I don't think you're ruining anything because we're the
- 10:59Speaker 5: two blackest people in here.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I confirm that because I can say, you can't say
- 11:05Speaker 4: the word, but you can play it with your sex.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Their argument is interrupted when Patrick Mahomes falls through the ceiling.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Well, I gotta say, everything was great.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Everything was totally fantastic until Taylor Swift came.
- 11:23Speaker 2: She messed up everything. But it's okay. We're going to
- 11:27Speaker 2: be back there.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Maybe we'll win next year. Maybe we will.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Suddenly, secret agent and widely believed to be handsome Josh
- 11:34Speaker 1: Johnson comes in with huge shoulders and a wide back
- 11:38Speaker 1: and very defined legs.
- 11:40Speaker 2: He speaks.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Well, there's a couple of things we can talk about.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And....
- 11:57Speaker 3: I would just like.
- 11:59Speaker 6: To say I feel heavily slighted because.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Nobody even invited me, I just had to.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Okay. Hey, Josh. I just learned that one today. Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 2: It's only kind of hurtful.
- 12:25Speaker 3: But here's the thing.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Here's the thing.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And I'm going to say this.
- 12:30Speaker 6: The fact that you are just such a cool person and.
- 12:38Speaker 3: And who, like, I don't know if.
- 12:40Speaker 6: You've heard people, but there are two people that are
- 12:43Speaker 6: beefing still with each other to this day.
- 12:45Speaker 3: If you don't listen to the radio, then you.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Don't know what I'm talking about.
- 12:49Speaker 3: But Drake and Kendrick, I can't believe it.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Oh, no. Is that cool? Is that in the wheelhouse? Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I mean, the fact that they agree so heavily.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I've just got to get the swag down just a
- 13:11Speaker 3: little bit more.
- 13:12Speaker 4: You have such a relaxed swag.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Everything is so gentle. It is just.
- 13:19Speaker 2: You are the.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Most gentle correspondent. And that's what makes you absolutely unique.
- 13:28Speaker 1: That's what makes you unique.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yep.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It's like staring in a taller mirror. Thank you so
- 13:44Speaker 1: much for being on the show. Thank you so much
- 13:46Speaker 1: for everything. I mean, I'm excited to have more and
- 13:49Speaker 1: more people check out the album. I'm excited for the
- 13:52Speaker 1: next season of Quiz with Balls.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:55Speaker 1: And I'm especially excited for what is now our political drama.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Absolutely. Y'all give it up for Jay Pharoah one more time.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Come on, brother. Come on.
- 14:11Speaker 1: The Odyssey is out now, and the Christmas balls return
- 14:14Speaker 1: July 15th on Fox.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Jake Fowler, everybody.
