- 2:41In local news, in a challenging operation near Cape Cod, 10 dolphins were saved and
- 2:47returned to the ocean after a near 7-hour rescue effort.
- 2:53The International Fund for Animal Welfare managed the rescue involving two separate
- 2:58locations known for difficult conditions due to shallow waters and extreme tides.
- 3:05The rescue team, comprising 45 people including AmeriCorps members, successfully stabilized
- 3:12and released the dolphins using a specialized mobile clinic.
- 3:17This marks a significant effort in wildlife conservation in a known global stranding hotspot.
- 3:28Now on to sports.
- 3:30Today prepare for a whirlwind at the NFL Draft as the top 10 picks could usher in unexpected
- 3:37moves mainly due to the unpredictable quarterback market and other key players.
- 3:43Insights from coaches and executives suggest a high stakes evening with the Chicago Bears
- 3:48likely leading off by selecting USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
- 3:54He's seen as a standout talent, suitable for a team in dire need of a franchise leader.
- 4:00The subsequent picks are expected to be equally dynamic, with potential trades shaking up
- 4:06the order as teams like the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots make strategic moves
- 4:12to secure top talents.
- 4:14The draft night is set to be a spectacle of strategic gambits and we'll be back tomorrow
- 4:19with the results.
- 4:21In local sports, the Red Sox on the road beat the Guardians 8-0 and the Celtics at home
- 4:29for game 2 lost to the Heat 111-101.
- 4:34The series is now tied and headed back to Miami on Saturday.
- 4:39Luckily the Bruins on the road for game 3 beat the Maple Leafs 4-2.
- 4:45The Bees lead that series 2 games to 1.
- 4:49And tonight, the Red Sox are on the road in Cleveland to take on the Guardians.
- 4:56In top news, the U.S. Department of Transportation is implementing new regulations to enhance
- 5:03consumer protection in air travel.
- 5:06Announced by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, these rules mandate airlines to
- 5:11fully disclose the total cost of flights before ticket purchase and ensure prompt cash refunds
- 5:17for cancellations or significant changes.
- 5:21This initiative addresses the rising issue of surprise junk fees, aiming to make pricing
- 5:27more transparent and reduce the hassle for consumers.
- 5:31The airline industry, however, has expressed concerns that these regulations could lead
- 5:36to confusion, arguing that passengers generally do not need or want such detailed information
- 5:42up front.
- 5:43And at this point, they might be right.
- 5:47After years and years of unethical price obfuscation, I probably would be confused when seeing an
- 5:53honest and straightforward price.
- 5:58In business news, in May Congress is poised to potentially revolutionize the U.S. cryptocurrency
- 6:05landscape with a staple coin bill that aims to establish a new regulatory framework for
- 6:12digital assets pegged to fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar.
- 6:17This legislation, drafted by Senators Cynthia Lummis and Kirsten Gillibrand, seeks to ban
- 6:24algorithmic stable coins and require stable coin issuers to be either state-chartered
- 6:30trust companies or banks.
- 6:32Notably, it also gives the Federal Reserve significant control, allowing it to block
- 6:37entities from issuing stable coins with a two-thirds majority vote from its board of
- 6:43governors.
- 6:44However, concerns about the bill's lack of anti-money laundering measures could pose
- 6:49hurdles highlighting the delicate balance policymakers must strike between innovation
- 6:55and security in the evolving crypto space.
- 6:59In crypto movement, Bitcoin is just over $64,000.
- 7:05Ethereum is $3,100.
- 7:08And Solana is $146.

- 7:58And now, back to the show.
- 8:01Let's talk science.
- 8:03New research highlights an intriguing aspect of how our brains perceive time.
- 8:09According to a study published in Nature Human Behavior, more memorable images seem to make
- 8:14time appear longer, enhancing their memorability further.
- 8:19This phenomenon suggests a possible adaptive function of the brain, allowing it to process
- 8:25and retain more information by manipulating our perception of time.
- 8:30The study's findings could have significant implications for understanding how memory
- 8:35and perception are linked, and might lead to more effective ways of enhancing memory
- 8:40retention.
- 8:41And in entertainment news, the sequel, 28 years later, is generating significant buzz
- 8:50with the announcement of its cast, including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph
- 8:56Fiennes under the direction of Danny Boyle.
- 9:00Boyle reunites with screenwriter Alex Garland to continue their seminal work from the 2002
- 9:07film 28, Days Later.
- 9:10The upcoming film, which seeks to extend the narrative into a trilogy, promises to delve
- 9:15deeper into the post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies.
- 9:20With the original film's star, Killian Murphy, involved as an executive producer and a strong
- 9:26production team, expectations are high for this sequel to recapture and expand upon the
- 9:32original's groundbreaking impact on the zombie genre.
- 9:36Well, alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the day.
- 9:42And today, our quote comes from the actor, singer, and businessman, Jimmy Dean.
