Transcript
- 1:04Mark Spence: things you know easy.
- 1:05Mark Spence: You bring up a really good point there, right?
- 1:07Mark Spence: We do not go by feelings For somebody to say I no longer love that person.
- 1:11Mark Spence: They're saying that they are no longer choosing to unconditionally and sacrificially serve that individual.
- 1:20Mark Spence: And that's the way we are to love our spouses and really love each other.
- 1:24Mark Spence: Right, Love is not a feeling, it is a verb, it is an action.
- 1:28Mark Spence: I am committed to you even if you're never committed to me, and this is the way we approach the word of god.
- 1:35Mark Spence: Right, our feelings are so fickle.
- 1:37Mark Spence: If I would have went by my feelings, I would have married 16 people before I met my wife.
- 1:40Mark Spence: But no, I wanted to wait for my actual wife.
- 1:44Mark Spence: Run your race as hard and as fast as you can towards the lord and, when you're ready to get married, look around to see who kept up with you and marry that individual.
- 1:51Mark Spence: Martin Luther said don't allow your feelings to preach to you, Because our feelings are always preaching to us.
- 1:58Mark Spence: We need to have a louder voice, right?
- 2:00Mark Spence: The sirens are always shouting and calling out to us and singing to us from those crashing rocks, and if we set ourselves on the solid rock of God's word, well then, we're not going to be led astray.
- 2:12Mark Spence: Nancy Wilson worded it like this anytime our emotions drive the car, we soon end up in a ditch.
- 2:25Emeal Zwayne: For many, many years, friends, I have been in the business of saving souls, but today I have added a new saving profile to my saving resume.
- 2:40Emeal Zwayne: I am now into saving cameras.
- 2:45Emeal Zwayne: That's right, friends.
- 2:46Emeal Zwayne: Did you guys see the saving of the camera that I did earlier in the video today?
- 2:50Oscar Navarro: I couldn't figure out whether you were talking about shoes or actual souls when you said saving souls.
- 2:54Ray Comfort: Souls, living souls, you mean you got a true eye for the camera and you didn't.
- 2:57Emeal Zwayne: Did you guys see the camera earlier?
- 2:59Emeal Zwayne: That was falling.
- 3:00Mark Spence: I did.
- 3:01Emeal Zwayne: You saw that, mark, I did.
- 3:02Mark Spence: Yeah, yale called it out, you saw it.
- 3:04Mark Spence: Were you in here?
- 3:09Mark Spence: Yes, you all said oh no, no, no, no.
- 3:09Mark Spence: And then you like stumbled and you fell you cried.
- 3:11Emeal Zwayne: I didn't even know I had a witness, but I did, I guess, because I thought you guys were going to believe me.
- 3:14Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, because the irony is that the camera didn't catch me catching the camera, so I didn't have any evidence to prove that I can't see the camera.
- 3:20Oscar Navarro: Don't we have a full-time recording camera up here?
- 3:22Oscar Navarro: Yes, we do, so it is evidence.
- 3:26Emeal Zwayne: You guys will never hear the end of it.
- 3:27Emeal Zwayne: I saved our camera Thousands of dollars.
- 3:30Emeal Zwayne: I want to know how you?
- 3:30Mark Spence: save souls.
- 3:31Mark Spence: How does EZ himself?
- 3:32Emeal Zwayne: save souls.
- 3:32Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, help me understand it from a theological perspective.
- 3:34Emeal Zwayne: Well, here's my explanation of it.
- 3:37Emeal Zwayne: Well, first I just want to say this In relation to the proper utilization of the hermeneutical and homiletical principles of biblical interpretation and preaching, it's, it's imperative that one possess higher exegetical skills, especially when dealing with the diversity of logical and eschatological systems within the various genres of the biblical text.
- 3:50Emeal Zwayne: So, when you resolve, that then I'll.
- 3:53Oscar Navarro: I think I know why you have a headache now.
- 3:53Emeal Zwayne: Yeah.
- 3:55Oscar Navarro: Oh, don't remind me.
- 3:55Emeal Zwayne: Sorry, oh my goodness, seriously, it was gone and now it's back, so anyway have you guys ever dealt with that though Like oh man, where does this excitement come?
- 4:09Mark Spence: to talk about this?
- 4:10Emeal Zwayne: is what I was going to talk about.
- 4:11Emeal Zwayne: I was going to say have you guys ever done something great but no one saw it and it wasn't recorded.
- 4:15Emeal Zwayne: Yes, and then people just wouldn't believe you my whole life you remember that stupid little thing, ray with the, with the nose, with the little chain what did you do with that?
- 4:22Ray Comfort: I'm supposed to get that hang on.
- 4:24Emeal Zwayne: Hang on, you were horrible you remember, explain to me, remember that little round thing and it had like a chain in there in a guy's head and you would shake it and it would create a nose and a mouth Mix the face.
- 4:34Emeal Zwayne: Oh yes, what was that?
- 4:35Emeal Zwayne: I don't know, but that was one of the coolest things.
- 4:37Emeal Zwayne: But every time Ray look and he would just bump my hand and it would make a man's face.
- 4:50Ray Comfort: No, that's not the one we're talking about.
- 4:52Ray Comfort: Yes, it is no.
- 4:54Emeal Zwayne: Ray, it had a little chain Chain.
- 4:56Emeal Zwayne: It was round, it had some funny looking dude, black and white head, and then you would shake it and the chain would Mark.
- 5:03Emeal Zwayne: You know exactly.
- 5:03Emeal Zwayne: I totally remember Remember it was a little circle thing this is reminding me of.
- 5:06Emeal Zwayne: Jacob and Daniel.
- 5:07Emeal Zwayne: Not remembering, I need a cognitive test.
- 5:09Mark Spence: What would I type in to find it?
- 5:10Mark Spence: How do I find it on Amazon?
- 5:12Mark Spence: I'm going to buy one right now.
- 5:12Mark Spence: Who are you guys?
- 5:13Mark Spence: Wait you.
- 5:13Ray Comfort: Who are you guys?
- 5:14Ray Comfort: Wait, hold on you seriously.
- 5:15Ray Comfort: What am I doing here?
- 5:16Ray Comfort: You can't be serious.
- 5:23Mark Spence: Look, I just got some.
- 5:24Mark Spence: He didn't take his meds.
- 5:25Emeal Zwayne: Mark, you remember it 100% right.
- 5:28Emeal Zwayne: Remember you would shake it and it was a little chain and then it would shape his nose and mouth.
- 5:33Ray Comfort: Yeah, that's the thing I was talking about.
- 5:36Emeal Zwayne: It was circular, wasn't it?
- 5:37Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, but it wasn't ball bearings, it was just like a little tiny.
- 5:40Ray Comfort: Well, they looked like a chain, but they were little round bearings that would pull together because they're magnetized.
- 5:44Ray Comfort: No, they weren't magnetized, they weren't.
- 5:47Emeal Zwayne: Forget it.
- 5:48Mark Spence: I don't even know how to look it up.
- 5:49Emeal Zwayne: And how funny.
- 5:50Emeal Zwayne: I'm talking about not being able to prove something.
- 5:52Ray Comfort: No, that was it.
- 5:53Ray Comfort: That was the one I just described wrong.
- 5:55Ray Comfort: I think it was a chain that fell on the guy's face, but I'd bump you every time you showed me his face.
- 6:09Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, every time.
- 6:09Emeal Zwayne: Oh, I remember it now it was a little old.
- 6:10Emeal Zwayne: Yes, I found it.
- 6:10Ray Comfort: Did you?
- 6:10Ray Comfort: Is that it, mark?
- 6:11Ray Comfort: Yes, that's it Now.
- 6:11Ray Comfort: You remember it.
- 6:12Ray Comfort: That's it, yes.
- 6:13Emeal Zwayne: Okay, so were you thinking of something else?
- 6:14Ray Comfort: No, I was thinking it was ball bearings, but it was the chain link and it would fall into that.
- 6:19Emeal Zwayne: Mark, we need to buy one of those.
- 6:21Emeal Zwayne: I love that thing.
- 6:22Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, it was a great joy because Mark would do it too.
- 6:26Ray Comfort: He'd come up with it, perfectly done, and I'd say, give me a look and I'd bump it and you couldn't get it back right, it was one of those.
- 6:32Ray Comfort: Yeah.
- 6:34Emeal Zwayne: Now we have phones, because this was before I think we had it.
- 6:37Ray Comfort: Are you going to order one more?
- 6:38Ray Comfort: What's?
- 6:39Ray Comfort: It called it's in Germany, I'm not buying something in.
- 6:42Ray Comfort: Germany, what's the name?
- 6:44Emeal Zwayne: of it.
- 6:44Emeal Zwayne: I ball bearings.
- 6:45Emeal Zwayne: No, it's from.
- 6:45Ray Comfort: Germany.
- 6:49Oscar Navarro: I have done some.
- 6:50Oscar Navarro: There's this one time, going back to your originally question, this one time we're at this park and you know those they make these things that are like made to hurt your children.
- 6:57Oscar Navarro: It's on a pole and then there's a bowl and it spins.
- 7:02Oscar Navarro: But it spins like kind of weird and they like get going and you can't stop.
- 7:06Oscar Navarro: So I weird and they like get going and you can't stop.
- 7:11Oscar Navarro: So I'm I've got like evie, she's like two years old, maddie's like six, seven or eight, and she sits on it and it starts spinning out of control and she's like holding on for dear life and I book it over there.
- 7:19Oscar Navarro: She falls off and I catch her by her ankle, dude, and her head like barely misses the cement and I caught her and it was one of those moments like oh but no one was there.
- 7:31Ray Comfort: No one cared at all.
- 7:32Ray Comfort: It was like the greatest dad moment ever no one gave her how long ago was this probably.
- 7:37Oscar Navarro: Yeah, 10 years ago maybe, oh no, no cell phones we don't believe it would have been a dozen phones would have got it by now we don't believe you.
- 7:44Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, it's funny like we live life through captured imagery.
- 7:48Emeal Zwayne: Have you guys ever done this where you're trying to rewind real-time moment in life?
- 7:53Emeal Zwayne: No, seriously, I've had that like, oh, let me.
- 7:56Emeal Zwayne: No, I can't Like a person.
- 7:58Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, like an event, something that just happened Because we're so used to being able to watch things over again.
- 8:05Emeal Zwayne: What are you two?
- 8:06Ray Comfort: doing, we found it.
- 8:07Emeal Zwayne: What the face?
- 8:07Emeal Zwayne: The actual face?
- 8:08Emeal Zwayne: You're going to buy one, right?
- 8:09Emeal Zwayne: Yes, I missed that thing.
- 8:11Emeal Zwayne: Yes, that's the one.
- 8:12Emeal Zwayne: Yes, oh, yes, please, mark, it's one of my favorite things.
- 8:16Emeal Zwayne: Show the camera.
- 8:20Mark Spence: Show the cameras.
- 8:20Mark Spence: We can prove that Ray was wrong.
- 8:21Mark Spence: There's Ray's phone number and address in the corner.
- 8:24Mark Spence: Get that online.
- 8:25Emeal Zwayne: Alright, Friends, time for a cool, classy comment.
- 8:29Emeal Zwayne: This is from Lisa Tannis.
- 8:31Emeal Zwayne: Hey guys, I recently started listening to your podcast and absolutely love it.
- 8:35Emeal Zwayne: You guys are so funny and knowledgeable about the Word of God.
- 8:38Emeal Zwayne: I learn a lot from you all.
- 8:40Emeal Zwayne: I'm looking forward to your streaming service.
- 8:42Emeal Zwayne: Love your books.
- 8:43Emeal Zwayne: Ray, Thank you for your amazing podcast and resources on livingwaterscom.
- 8:49Emeal Zwayne: Hey, thank you, by the way, Lisa, Very encouraging.
- 8:52Emeal Zwayne: Lisa mentioned something very important our streaming service, Oscar.
- 8:57Emeal Zwayne: Tell the people about our streaming service.
- 9:00Oscar Navarro: I'm not going to listen to it now.
- 9:01Oscar Navarro: We have so much content.
- 9:04Oscar Navarro: We've got 10 seasons, almost now, of Way of the Master.
- 9:09Oscar Navarro: We've got video of Ray preaching the gospel all the way back from, I think, the seventies it goes as early as that.
- 9:15Oscar Navarro: We've got so much stuff that we've produced over the course of the years that and we've never been able to put it all in one spot.
- 9:21Oscar Navarro: Often, when somebody comes up to me and asks like hey, where can I watch Way of the Master, it's like you can watch season five on this channel, season seven on that channel, and so we decided to create a streaming service that's going to house pretty much everything we've ever done.
- 9:36Oscar Navarro: It's going to be one login.
- 9:37Oscar Navarro: You're going to be able to hop in there and watch it all all of our movies, all of our TV shows and, for you, podcast listeners, you're going to be able to watch the podcast being recorded.
- 9:48Oscar Navarro: You'll be able to see our faces and our expressions.
- 9:52Oscar Navarro: It's going to be a totally different experience for you, and all of this will be happening very soon.
- 9:56Oscar Navarro: You can go to livingwaterstv to sign up so that you can be one of the first to know when it launches.
- 10:03Oscar Navarro: And when it launches, we're going to do a discount for the first 90 days, so you'll want to stay tuned for that.
- 10:10Ray Comfort: So don't we have some teaching from teachers around the?
- 10:12Oscar Navarro: world, that's true, yeah.
- 10:14Oscar Navarro: Yeah, mark, you want to talk about the Equip.
- 10:16Mark Spence: So there's many different branches of Living Waters TV, and one of the branches that we're very excited about is called Living Waters Equip, where we've brought in the top professors, theologians, pastors and teachers to answer in a street, apologetic way, the top questions that you get out on the street.
- 10:30Mark Spence: Right, why the Bible and not the Bhagavad Gita?
- 10:33Mark Spence: Give us your two, three-minute answer.
- 10:35Mark Spence: Right, because when you're out on the street and you're witnessing, you do not have 30 minutes to talk to someone.
- 10:40Mark Spence: It's not a monologue, it's a dialogue.
- 10:43Mark Spence: Yeah, so how do you get right to it?
- 10:45Ray Comfort: So we're really excited about it.
- 10:49Mark Spence: Give me some teachers.
- 10:50Mark Spence: We have Emile Zwane, we have Oscar Navarro.
- 10:54Oscar Navarro: We have Ray Comfort.
- 10:56Ray Comfort: We have.

- 11:01Oscar Navarro: Bochum, sorry, let me give you an example.
- 11:03Oscar Navarro: Ray asked me a street question.
- 11:08Ray Comfort: You think you're a good person.
- 11:09Ray Comfort: I don't know.

- 11:51Ray Comfort: Anyway, that was about half the list.
- 11:52Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, so that was a radically revolutionary resource.
- 11:55Emeal Zwayne: I'll throw one more in God doesn't believe in atheists.
- 11:58Emeal Zwayne: Proof that the atheist does not exist.
- 12:01Emeal Zwayne: Ray, when did you write that book?
- 12:03Emeal Zwayne: I don't know, no it was about 1992.
- 12:06Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, love that title, one of my favorite titles.
- 12:09Ray Comfort: I sent it to a publisher.
- 12:10Ray Comfort: I sent it to a lot of publishers.
- 12:11Ray Comfort: Only one picked it up.
- 12:12Ray Comfort: It was because the editor gave his atheist son son-in-law the manuscript.
- 12:24Mark Spence: He got saved reading it and he decided to publish it.
- 12:26Mark Spence: What, wow, really, is that really?
- 12:27Ray Comfort: how that happened.
- 12:28Ray Comfort: Yes, yeah, is that the same book?
- 12:29Ray Comfort: That's right.
- 12:29Ray Comfort: Oh, that idiot book, american Atheist.
- 12:30Ray Comfort: Yeah, that was the book.
- 12:31Ray Comfort: It was called that Idiot Book and then you took flak for that, didn't you?
- 12:35Emeal Zwayne: Yes, ray, I can't believe you actually went and debated someone at an atheist convention.
- 12:39Emeal Zwayne: It was wonderful you weren't worried they were going to poison your food.
- 12:43Ray Comfort: No, they gave us a big gift basket when I arrived.
- 12:46Ray Comfort: I told a friend I got him to try it as a cupbearer.
- 12:51Oscar Navarro: Yeah Was it Mark Spence Was that your cupbearer?
- 12:53Ray Comfort: No no, it was a guy named Ron.
- 12:55Emeal Zwayne: Boy.
- 12:55Ray Comfort: All right, France he died.
- 12:57Emeal Zwayne: All right, france, what was I going to say?
- 13:01Emeal Zwayne: Oh, and don't forget the Living Waters of Monaco, the Heaven and Society Bible, all at living, but livingwaterscom Wow, you have a great level of control Livingwaterscom.
- 13:09Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, very nice.
- 13:10Ray Comfort: I like that you're clarified.
- 13:11Ray Comfort: I'm a businessman Livingwaterscom.
- 13:13Emeal Zwayne: All right, friends.
- 13:14Emeal Zwayne: Today we are dealing with how to conquer your feelings.
- 13:20Ray Comfort: Guys, I don't know if you feel this, I didn't feel like doing this one.
- 13:22Ray Comfort: I didn't feel like it we should stop now.
- 13:25Emeal Zwayne: We don't feel like it.
- 13:26Emeal Zwayne: I don't know why.
- 13:27Emeal Zwayne: Every time I hear the word feelings it.
- 13:30Mark Spence: Makes you want to sing.
- 13:31Mark Spence: Go for it.
- 13:31Ray Comfort: Play me a song, you don't have to.
- 13:33Emeal Zwayne: Feelings Not necessary.
- 13:35Emeal Zwayne: Nothing more than feelings.
- 13:41Oscar Navarro: Our guests just left.
- 13:42Emeal Zwayne: Seriously, man, I'm the worst singer on the planet.
- 13:45Emeal Zwayne: I hope people.
- 13:45Emeal Zwayne: I hope people realize that, like when I sing, I know.
- 13:48Oscar Navarro: I'm a horrible singer.
- 13:49Oscar Navarro: I'm not worst singer on the planet.
- 13:49Oscar Navarro: I hope people realize that when I sing I know I'm a horrible singer.
- 13:50Oscar Navarro: I'm not trying to pretend.
- 13:52Mark Spence: Do you?
- 13:52Mark Spence: Are you serious?
- 13:53Mark Spence: Sometimes you're impressed.
- 13:55Emeal Zwayne: Well, sometimes I'm impressed.
- 13:57Emeal Zwayne: I hit a note, that's all it is, it's not the worst.
- 14:00Mark Spence: My son said that he absolutely loves hearing you sing.
- 14:02Mark Spence: Did I tell you that?
- 14:03Ray Comfort: Your dead son no.
- 14:04Oscar Navarro: He loves it.
- 14:09Emeal Zwayne: It, he loves it, it demonstrates his humility, yeah, for sure.
- 14:11Emeal Zwayne: So anyway, guys, yeah, feelings, man feelings.
- 14:14Ray Comfort: Hey, how are you feeling?
- 14:16Emeal Zwayne: Feelings.
- 14:16Emeal Zwayne: Well, I'm still battling that headache.
- 14:20Oscar Navarro: Oscar, how are you feeling Good?
- 14:21Oscar Navarro: You know, what's funny is, when I first got married, my wife no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 14:24Oscar Navarro: How are you feeling Good?
- 14:26Oscar Navarro: I'm feeling hungry.
- 14:28Ray Comfort: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 14:29Ray Comfort: How are you feeling Good?
- 14:30Ray Comfort: I'm feeling hungry.
- 14:31Ray Comfort: No, no, no, mark, how are you feeling?
- 14:33Ray Comfort: I feel good.
- 14:33Ray Comfort: There's none good.
- 14:34Ray Comfort: You don't go by feelings, thank you, I've heard that.
- 14:41Emeal Zwayne: With you, Ray.
- 14:41Emeal Zwayne: Seriously, it's gotten to a point where, before I ask the question?
- 14:43Ray Comfort: the answer is ringing in my ear.
- 14:43Ray Comfort: Okay, Ready, ready, finish this.
- 14:48Ray Comfort: Oscar did it.
- 14:49Ray Comfort: What a miracle.
- 14:51Emeal Zwayne: Wow, that was good.
- 14:52Oscar Navarro: All right, let's close in prayer.
- 14:56Emeal Zwayne: We're done how dumb was that?
- 14:58Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, you know, I think back to when I first got saved, because Before you know the Lord.
- 15:04Ray Comfort: I wonder, who started that, what, when we first did that?
- 15:07Ray Comfort: Are we still on?
- 15:09Mark Spence: Squirrel.
- 15:09Mark Spence: What is the etymology of the knock, squirrel, squirrel.
- 15:14Emeal Zwayne: But we really.
- 15:15Emeal Zwayne: You know, when you're a new believer, you just come off of your entire life revolving around feelings, right?
- 15:23Emeal Zwayne: I mean, think of all the things that we used to do as unbelievers, that we never questioned for a second like, never contemplated, never had any self-introspection over, because that's just how we rolled.
- 15:33Emeal Zwayne: And then we get saved and all of a sudden you start to realize, little by little, you can't roll that way anymore.
- 15:41Emeal Zwayne: But I rode feelings like a wave with joy and glee, and that's what ruled my life.
- 15:47Emeal Zwayne: And when you think about You're talking about sin, yeah, like feelings.
- 15:51Emeal Zwayne: Well, yeah, sin, but also just, I guess, a sense of normalcy and pleasure in just what you feel.
- 15:59Emeal Zwayne: It would dictate the reason why you would make decisions.
- 16:02Emeal Zwayne: Oh, if it feels good, do it, yeah.
- 16:04Emeal Zwayne: Well, I mean, how many times you hear people say well, I got divorced, I just wasn't feeling love for them anymore, and so you get saved?
- 16:12Emeal Zwayne: And then your whole world has changed because you start realizing your feelings are deceptive, your feelings are untrustworthy, your feelings are oftentimes self-centered, so it should be faithings, faithings I just made that word up Is that your new book Ray.
- 16:30Ray Comfort: It's obvious.
- 16:31Emeal Zwayne: It's very clear Faithings.
- 16:33Mark Spence: You know, ez, you bring up a really good point there, right?
- 16:35Mark Spence: We do not go by feelings For somebody to say I no longer love that person.
- 16:40Mark Spence: They're saying that they are no longer choosing to unconditionally and sacrificially serve that individual.
- 16:49Mark Spence: And that's the way we are to love our spouses and really love each other.
- 16:52Mark Spence: Right, love is not a feeling, it is a verb, it is an action.
- 16:57Mark Spence: I am committed to you even if you're never committed to me, and this is the way we approach the Word of God.
- 17:03Mark Spence: Right, our feelings are so fickle.
- 17:05Mark Spence: If I would have went by my feelings, I would have married 16 people before I met my wife.
- 17:09Mark Spence: But no, I wanted to wait for my actual wife.
- 17:13Mark Spence: Run your race as hard and as fast as you can towards the Lord and, when you're ready to get married, look around to see who kept up with you and marry that individual.
- 17:20Mark Spence: Martin Luther said don't allow your feelings to preach to you, because our feelings are always preaching to us.
- 17:27Mark Spence: We need to have a louder voice, right?
- 17:29Mark Spence: The sirens are always shouting and calling out to us and singing to us from those crashing rocks, and if we set ourselves on the solid rock of God's Word, well then, we're not going to be led astray.
- 17:41Mark Spence: Nancy Wilson worded it like this anytime our emotions drive the car, we soon end up in a ditch.
- 17:49Emeal Zwayne: Wow, that's so profound.
- 17:51Emeal Zwayne: You know the flip side of that and we'll explore all this together, but feelings have been given to us by the Lord.
- 17:58Emeal Zwayne: Like feelings are not altogether illegitimate.
- 18:02Emeal Zwayne: In fact, they could be absolutely wonderful.
- 18:04Emeal Zwayne: So this is what you're feeling at the moment In the proper context.
- 18:07Emeal Zwayne: That's my current feeling.
- 18:09Emeal Zwayne: So, you know, it comes down to understanding your feelings, looking at them in their proper context, enjoying them when they correlate to truth and correspond to truth, and thanking the Lord for them, but being careful to not be governed and controlled and ruled by your feelings and by your emotions.
- 18:29Emeal Zwayne: And you know, I would also say that even before we came to know Christ, we denied our feelings on many fronts, you know.
- 18:38Emeal Zwayne: But it was typically in keeping with things that were associated with necessity, in the sense that it immediately impacted us Like okay, I don't feel like going to work today, and maybe we'll go with that feeling a few times in line and say we're gonna be sick.
- 18:56Emeal Zwayne: But we know it hits a point that if we keep doing that we're gonna lose our job.
- 18:59Emeal Zwayne: So we deny that feeling of not wanting to go to work and we go right.
- 19:02Emeal Zwayne: But I think with the unbeliever anything that doesn't deal with that sort of thing they're just going to typically go with their feelings and be ruled and governed.
- 19:13Mark Spence: Yeah, and here's the big problem with that I don't feel God.
- 19:17Mark Spence: We live in a society where the church is telling us that God is a feeling.
- 19:22Mark Spence: Right, I don't feel like God is with me anymore and we discount Scripture altogether.
- 19:30Mark Spence: Now, feelings are not a terrible thing, like you said.
- 19:32Mark Spence: We just can't let them rule us.
- 19:33Mark Spence: Macarthur worded it like this feelings are a poor foundation for marriage, but they can be a wonderful, glorious byproduct.
- 19:42Mark Spence: Right, you're right, god has created us like this, but we cannot allow them to rule us as headbe beams as we move forward.
- 19:49Oscar Navarro: Yeah, you guys are bringing up a really good point, which is that there's these two narratives out there in which we see One.
- 19:55Oscar Navarro: There's like the cultural narratives, that your feelings are what defines you.
- 20:01Oscar Navarro: Right?
- 20:01Oscar Navarro: So many people are told today like, whatever you feel, you need to go out and express your feelings, get it off your chest, let it out, just be honest.
- 20:09Oscar Navarro: Those feelings is what define you, and once you express that, then the world around you needs to conform to the feeling that you're having about yourself.
- 20:25Oscar Navarro: Feelings is how we understand, how the world tells us that we should pursue truth.
- 20:27Oscar Navarro: Right, it's not like you don't hear people say I think.
- 20:29Oscar Navarro: They say I feel.
- 20:29Oscar Navarro: You know, feelings is how we perceive truth, and the problem is our feelings are incredibly inconsistent.
- 20:36Oscar Navarro: I like to always say like.
- 20:37Oscar Navarro: Sometimes I feel like being really healthy, and then I wake up in the morning and I feel like a breakfast burrito.
- 20:42Oscar Navarro: You know what I mean.
- 20:43Oscar Navarro: When kids are really little, they feel like there's a monster in their closet.
- 20:48Oscar Navarro: Our feelings are inconsistent and to try to use them as governing tools to our lives, as Mark said, it'll leave you to a road ditch.
- 20:56Oscar Navarro: Now, the other problem too and this is what you're alluding to is that the response is very humish.
- 21:02Oscar Navarro: David Hume was this philosopher and he talked about feelings as like this rabid dog that needs to be reined in, that we need to be less of emotional creatures, that we need to suck it up and just think our way through life.
- 21:15Oscar Navarro: But this is also not a biblical view of what it means to be a person, and you hit it on the head easy.
- 21:21Oscar Navarro: Our emotions, our feelings, are gifts from the, from the God who created us, and they are given to us to be road signs to better understand our own heart.
- 21:36Oscar Navarro: Our emotions, our feelings flow from our affections, the things that we love, the things that we worship, and so your feelings.
- 21:46Oscar Navarro: They don't define you, but they will inform you.
- 21:50Oscar Navarro: They will inform you of the idols that you have in your life, of the affections that are controlling your desires, and the Psalms do a great job of this.
- 22:00Oscar Navarro: Like the Psalmist, they expressed their emotions, but their emotions help them to know their own hearts and then to worship the God of their, the creator of their lives, wow.
- 22:13Emeal Zwayne: That's so good.
- 22:14Emeal Zwayne: Oscar Ray, you often talk about fear in the sense that fear can be your friend because it can keep you from doing something stupid and dangerous, and so forth.
- 22:29Emeal Zwayne: But we also know that sometimes for the Christian, there are what are called irrational fears, and the reason why these fears are irrational is because they don't coincide with truth.
- 22:42Emeal Zwayne: So when someone is saying you know, as a born-again Christian who knows and loves God genuinely, and they bear fruit of salvation, that person says I just feel like God doesn't love me and I'm afraid, I'm fearful.
- 22:59Emeal Zwayne: I mean, that's the kind of thing that's associated with feeling.
- 23:03Emeal Zwayne: What do you say to the Christian who's in that realm?
- 23:06Emeal Zwayne: I get these feelings and they just affect my life.
- 23:08Ray Comfort: That's scary Now irrational fears.
- 23:14Ray Comfort: I think we deal with a lot of things in life because we live in a fallen creation.
- 23:18Ray Comfort: It's a battle between the carnal mind and the spiritual mind, the Adam and the new man in Christ, and what we've got to do is reckon some of those feelings dead.
- 23:26Ray Comfort: I'm crucified with the Christ.
- 23:28Ray Comfort: Nevertheless, I live not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life I live now in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me, and that's the love expressed in the cross.
- 23:37Ray Comfort: So that's what we look to, not to our feelings.
- 23:39Ray Comfort: I was almost going to be late for today's podcast.
- 23:43Ray Comfort: I sent you a text saying I could be a minute late.
- 23:46Ray Comfort: And you were very gracious and you were two minutes.
- 23:48Ray Comfort: No one was counting or looking and the reason I was a little late is because our television keeps turning itself back on when I turn it off.
- 23:55Emeal Zwayne: I've had that at my house.
- 23:56Emeal Zwayne: You have, we have the same TV.
- 23:57Emeal Zwayne: No, it's a different TV, but it's the same sort.
- 24:00Ray Comfort: Yeah, it came back eight times.
- 24:03Ray Comfort: I was going to leave it.
- 24:04Ray Comfort: It, as I was going to leave, it, would come back on it would go off for about 30 seconds.
- 24:08Emeal Zwayne: Are you sure Lucy didn't have a remote?
- 24:10Ray Comfort: No, she didn't have a remote, but it's been doing it for a couple of months.
- 24:13Ray Comfort: It's just really annoying.
- 24:14Ray Comfort: But that's what feelings are like.
- 24:20Emeal Zwayne: You think you've got them under control, and yet they come back on when you least expect it.
- 24:22Mark Spence: The Lord gave you that experience for this analogy that reminds me I had a remote control called a TV Be Gone, and I used to attach it to my key chain.
- 24:29Mark Spence: I'd go inside of sporting bars.
- 24:31Mark Spence: Oh Mark, this is terrible.
- 24:33Mark Spence: It was terrible.
- 24:33Mark Spence: I'm bringing my confession before you.
- 24:35Ray Comfort: Yeah, I was going to say this last week and right before somebody goes to score a touchdown or something.
- 24:39Mark Spence: I just I could turn off the TV and everybody was going crazy not knowing where I was at.
- 24:45Mark Spence: But I absolutely loved doing that.
- 24:46Mark Spence: That is such a marketing, all right, hey, back on subject here.
- 24:50Mark Spence: Did you stop?
- 24:50Mark Spence: No, real quick.
- 24:52Emeal Zwayne: Remember those pocket PCs before smartphones came out?
- 24:54Emeal Zwayne: It was like a little pocket.
- 24:56Emeal Zwayne: It's like a smartphone, but yeah, sort of thing.
- 24:59Emeal Zwayne: I had one of those and it had an app where you could control any TV and I loved it, because if you go into a doctor's office and something filthy is on you, Same concept.
- 25:09Mark Spence: Mark have you stopped doing that.
- 25:10Mark Spence: I don't have it anymore, I would use it.
- 25:12Mark Spence: He'll probably look it up again.
- 25:16Ray Comfort: It would be great to be able to preach to people.
- 25:18Emeal Zwayne: Go silent in some bar and say hey, the TV's off, there's no audio I was witnessing to my Lyft driver the other day and he had the radio going and I just wanted to say, can you turn that off?
- 25:27Emeal Zwayne: It was driving.
- 25:28Emeal Zwayne: I mean it wasn't too loud, but it was still distracting, you know so what did you do about it?
- 25:31Ray Comfort: this is what I've done.
- 25:32Ray Comfort: What you do is just say so, how's your day going?
- 25:36Ray Comfort: And he's like get real quiet that's yeah, right wait.
- 25:41Emeal Zwayne: Have you really done that?
- 25:42Ray Comfort: right, so you just talk quietly.
- 25:43Ray Comfort: That's pretty good.
- 25:44Ray Comfort: I'm sure I have.
- 25:44Emeal Zwayne: They talk quietly that's's really genius, actually.
- 25:46Emeal Zwayne: All right, Mark, back on topic.
- 25:48Mark Spence: To answer your question, I think for people who go by feelings right, there is a popular saying if it feels good, do it.
- 25:55Mark Spence: If you have that sort of mantra, you're actually in a popular line Not a good line, but a popular line, because Anton LaVey said something very similar.
- 26:05Mark Spence: Shouldn't you say who he is?
- 26:06Mark Spence: The Satanic Bible yeah, he's the author of the Satanic Bible.
- 26:11Emeal Zwayne: Let's not talk about who Mark called that one of our guests in the studio.
- 26:14Mark Spence: But anyway, go ahead.
- 26:14Mark Spence: We did have a guest that looked like Anton.
- 26:16Emeal Zwayne: LeVay yeah, we're not going to say who it is.
- 26:18Mark Spence: But I walked into the studio and I go.
- 26:19Mark Spence: Who invited?
- 26:20Mark Spence: Anton LeVay.
- 26:22Emeal Zwayne: You really offended him, Mark.
- 26:32Ray Comfort: He was super offended.
- 26:33Ray Comfort: Oh duh, you look like one of the world's worst Satanists.
- 26:34Emeal Zwayne: Stop looking like Anton LaVey, I won't call you.
- 26:38Mark Spence: Anton LaVey Was his first name, james, so Anyways, go ahead, mark Anton LaVey.
- 26:40Mark Spence: This is what he said Do what thou will shall be the whole of the law, right?
- 26:49Mark Spence: So do whatever you want.
- 26:50Mark Spence: And what do we do?
- 26:51Mark Spence: We do what we feel like we want to do.
- 26:52Mark Spence: We prioritize the things that we feel would be beneficial for us at that moment, until you become a Christian.
- 26:57Mark Spence: Because when you become a Christian, you are now governed by a different law.
- 27:00Mark Spence: You are ruled and guided by God's eye.
- 27:03Mark Spence: We are led by his spirit, we take refuge under the shadow of his wings and we allow him to make all of the decisions for us.
- 27:12Mark Spence: And we understand what his decisions are by meditating through his word.
- 27:16Oscar Navarro: You know, what's interesting is that you're actually even today, you're actually not governed by your emotions, you're governed by a rubric, a system in which you've accepted by the culture.
- 27:25Oscar Navarro: And so we think like the culture is telling us hey, go express however you feel about yourself.
- 27:30Oscar Navarro: But the reality is the culture is still telling us what feelings to express and what feelings to suppress.
- 27:37Oscar Navarro: And my prime example is this and this is someone else, way smarter than me, brought this up, brought this to my attention.
- 27:43Oscar Navarro: But they said if you think about it, if you think about like an Anglo-Saxon warrior walking down his village and he looks inside of himself and he sees same-sex attraction, but he also looks inside of himself and he sees rage, that he wants to go out and murder someone and take everything to his own possession, that Anglo-Saxon warrior, because of his culture, will suppress those feelings of same-sex attraction and express that feeling of rage.
- 28:09Oscar Navarro: Now imagine somebody walking down the street of New York and they look inside of themselves and they feel a desire to commit murder, but they also feel that desire of same-sex attraction because of the culture in which they live, they will decide to suppress the feeling of rage and express the feeling of same-sex attraction, and so the point that I'm making here is the culture is lying to you.
- 28:33Oscar Navarro: It's not saying you should be able to express whatever you want.
- 28:36Oscar Navarro: The culture has imprinted a standard of living for you in which you govern your emotions by and what we're telling you.
- 28:45Oscar Navarro: The beauty of the gospel is that the culture is fleeting and it's leading you to destruction, but only God knows your heart.
- 28:54Oscar Navarro: Only God knows who you truly are, because he is your maker and he is giving you a standard, a rubric, a filter in which will lead to your joy and will lead to everlasting life.
- 29:07Oscar Navarro: Wow.
- 29:11Ray Comfort: And the world that's giving us that culture to live in is being deceived by the spiritual cultures that they're subjected to.
- 29:15Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, and ultimately traces its roots to what Scripture says about Satan, the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works, and the sons of disobedience, and we say that from the standpoint that it goes on to say among whom we all once conducted ourselves.
- 29:28Emeal Zwayne: So we say this with sympathy and compassion toward the unbeliever, because we were once there, ruled by our emotions and our feelings.
- 29:34Emeal Zwayne: But I would add to that, oscar, that was brilliantly stated, I would add to that that what the culture also does as a part of that rubric is it tells you that your feelings, no matter what they are, are valid, and so that's where they take it to the next step.
- 29:48Emeal Zwayne: No matter what they are are valid, and so that's where they take it to the next step.
- 29:50Emeal Zwayne: So it's not just I have these feelings and that's why it's that no, and my feelings are valid because they're constantly validated by the world, you know.
- 29:55Emeal Zwayne: And so, ray, I'm so glad Oscar brought up the issue of homosexuality.
- 29:59Emeal Zwayne: That's where I was going to go, and I think you dealt with that right.
- 30:03Emeal Zwayne: But that's the problem, right, the world is validating whatever feeling you have, and then, on top of validating, it's celebrating, because now it's not just hey, no, that's a good feeling, but we're going to make you a hero, like now.
- 30:16Emeal Zwayne: If you come out as homosexual, you're a hero.
- 30:18Emeal Zwayne: If you come out as transgender, you're a hero.
- 30:20Emeal Zwayne: So, ray, that happens as well.
- 30:24Emeal Zwayne: We talked about the homosexual issue, but I feel like a woman happens as well.
- 30:28Emeal Zwayne: We talked about the homosexual issue, but I feel like a woman I feel like a man, I feel like an animal easy needs counsel yeah, oh no I hope no one isolates, but what?
- 30:34Ray Comfort: yeah, what is that clip?
- 30:35Emeal Zwayne: please just just cut that little portion out.
- 30:39Emeal Zwayne: We'll drop it.
- 30:39Emeal Zwayne: I just did myself, yeah, yeah.
- 30:41Emeal Zwayne: So, ray, what do you say to people?
- 30:43Ray Comfort: because look, somebody feels like a woman.
- 30:45Emeal Zwayne: Well, I'd say what is a woman, okay, okay, that opens up, right, that whole can of worms.
- 30:50Emeal Zwayne: We've seen that movie before, but look, I do want to say that this has some serious connotations, because I know there's people listening right now who are inundated with that right.
- 31:03Emeal Zwayne: I've always said we're very impressionable and we live in a very influential age.
- 31:08Emeal Zwayne: It's like a stone coming up against soft clay right, where we're easily impacted and affected and influenced.
- 31:14Emeal Zwayne: So there's people listening for whom this is like real, because they have been brainwashed for so long that if you feel something, it must be true.
- 31:21Emeal Zwayne: I mean, how many, how many young people have so tragically gone into homosexuality because some stupid thought or weird feeling came into their heart, because they looked at someone of the same sex and then they just, oh, that must mean I am, and then that begins to expand.
- 31:34Emeal Zwayne: Mark, were you going to say something?
- 31:35Mark Spence: Yeah, well somebody wiser than myself, which is 8 billion people on the planet, said if we do not meditate on God's word as truth, we're going to believe lies are true and this is why we buy into that idea that I'm a woman trapped in a man's body or something along that lines.
- 31:52Mark Spence: Right, we need to renew our mind, and scripture is very important to bring this together.
- 31:56Mark Spence: Right, romans 12, 2,.
- 31:56Mark Spence: Do not be conformed to this world, as we said earlier, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that, by the testing, you may discern what is the will of God and what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- 32:07Mark Spence: Or, as John Calvin worded it let the mind dwell upon the truth of God's word until it burns into your soul.
- 32:14Mark Spence: That's what we need to do with the word of God.
- 32:16Mark Spence: We don't just flippantly read a scripture, a text, our daily bread.
- 32:22Mark Spence: I read the verse for the day.
- 32:23Mark Spence: We get our news and we get our Bible intake from Instagram memes.
- 32:27Mark Spence: Right, there's something wrong with us.
- 32:27Mark Spence: We need to.
- 32:27Mark Spence: You can read any chapter of the day.
- 32:28Mark Spence: We get our news and we get our Bible intake from Instagram memes.
- 32:29Mark Spence: There's something wrong with us.
- 32:29Mark Spence: We need to.
- 32:31Mark Spence: You can read any chapter of the Bible in two to three minutes, except for Psalm 119.
- 32:36Mark Spence: Two to three minutes any chapter of the Bible.
- 32:39Mark Spence: And people come along and say I don't have time to read God's Word.
- 32:43Mark Spence: Look, you go through God's.
- 32:44Ray Comfort: Word.
- 32:44Ray Comfort: You're talking about the genealogies too.
- 32:46Ray Comfort: Try it while I'm reading Genesis 5, go Genesis 5.
- 32:52Mark Spence: Which is the first sign of the gospel.
- 32:53Emeal Zwayne: I'm told man appointed, mortal sorrow will teach that the blessed God shall come down, teaching that his death shall bring the despairing comfort Something like that First sign of the gospel, genesis 5.
- 33:03Mark Spence: That's pretty crazy, yeah, tremendous.
- 33:05Mark Spence: But we need to meditate on God's word so much that when an answer comes to our head, it really is just we're plagiarizing God's word, that it is God's word that came out.
- 33:16Mark Spence: So when I have a weird obstructed feeling to not do what God's calling me to do, I just know that it is the right thing to do.
- 33:24Mark Spence: And if you're a non-believer, you do this all the time actually.
- 33:27Mark Spence: But your three-month-old baby needs help and direction and needs to eat.
- 33:39Mark Spence: Guess what you do?
- 33:39Mark Spence: You swallow your feelings and you do that, which is right.
- 33:45Mark Spence: You feed your starving child, your hungry kid.
- 33:48Mark Spence: You're already doing it now with the Word of God.
- 33:50Mark Spence: Approach the Word of God much in the same way.
- 33:52Emeal Zwayne: Amen, yeah Easy.
- 33:55Ray Comfort: First mention of the gospel.
- 33:56Ray Comfort: Explain yourself, because a lot of people say, oh sorry, yeah, yeah, First mention of the gospel.
- 33:58Ray Comfort: Explain yourself because a lot of people say what was?
- 33:59Emeal Zwayne: that about yeah, yeah, well, again, this isn't like a Hilda Dion type thing.
- 34:02Ray Comfort: But it's wonderful.
- 34:04Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, but it's something that I actually.
- 34:06Emeal Zwayne: I heard a preacher touch on that once and I thought there's no way this can be.
- 34:12Emeal Zwayne: So I went myself and looked up the meaning of each word in the original and I was blown away.
- 34:18Emeal Zwayne: So it's a genealogy in Genesis 5, begins with Adam and it ends with Noah, and Adam means man, noah means comfort, and then with each name there's a meaning.
- 34:28Emeal Zwayne: I mean, back then names actually had meanings, unlike today.
- 34:31Emeal Zwayne: We like the way they sound, but they had meanings.
- 34:32Emeal Zwayne: So when you put it all together, this is what it says man, beginning with Adam, is appointed mortal sorrow, but the blessed God shall come down teaching that his death shall bring the despairing, and then ends with Noah comfort.
- 34:51Ray Comfort: And so I mean it's mind-blowing.
- 34:54Emeal Zwayne: Again, maybe I need to look at it deeper.
- 34:56Emeal Zwayne: We're not into hidden messages in the Bible and stuff like that, just a little disclaimer.
- 35:01Emeal Zwayne: But it's interesting enough to explore.
- 35:03Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, and if you didn't follow.
- 35:04Mark Spence: That's just simply the etymology of each name.
- 35:06Emeal Zwayne: Right, yeah, that you're following the names In succession and order.
- 35:09Emeal Zwayne: That's right.
- 35:09Mark Spence: From Adam to Noah Adam Seth, enosh, kenan Mahalel, jared Enoch, methuselah, lamech, noah, following all those with the name you come up with.
- 35:18Oscar Navarro: That I thought you were referring to Genesis 3.15, which is Proto-Evangelion, which is that someone will come to crush the head of the serpent, which is known from a theological perspective as the first sign of the gospel.
- 35:31Oscar Navarro: Yeah, true, that too.
- 35:31Emeal Zwayne: Proto-Evangelion Right, right, but yeah, we were just talking about the name.
- 35:34Ray Comfort: Boy, that'd make a great little tract.
- 35:36Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, oh yeah, Ryan, oh yeah.
- 35:38Emeal Zwayne: Ryan, it's down Tanya, watch around.
- 35:52Ray Comfort: Oh, it's turned around.
- 35:53Ray Comfort: What is this?
- 35:54Ray Comfort: I hadn't seen that yet.
- 35:54Ray Comfort: You don't know what that is.
- 35:56Ray Comfort: I don't know what that is, I hadn't seen it, but I my words, do something for someone.
- 35:59Ray Comfort: Turn my watch around.
- 36:00Ray Comfort: I get reminded in a few minutes.
- 36:01Ray Comfort: But what happens if you have to?
- 36:02Oscar Navarro: do it twice, do what twice.
- 36:04Oscar Navarro: Turn your watch around twice.
- 36:06Emeal Zwayne: You have two different ideas.
- 36:07Emeal Zwayne: You need to get another watch, two watches.
- 36:08Emeal Zwayne: Oh, I've got a watch from too tight.
- 36:16Emeal Zwayne: I said, ray, you can get different bands, I can't.
- 36:19Emeal Zwayne: I'm a $10 Walmart watch.
- 36:22Ray Comfort: Yeah, it's $12.
- 36:24Emeal Zwayne: Oh, whoa Moving on up.
- 36:26Ray Comfort: Actually, I get them online now.
- 36:28Ray Comfort: I don't repair the battery, I just get another watch.
- 36:30Ray Comfort: It's so cheap, just get a drawer full of them.
- 36:34Ray Comfort: So I got a question about this whole thing, see if this happens to a can of worms.
- 36:37Emeal Zwayne: We are getting derailed today.
- 36:39Emeal Zwayne: Go ahead.
- 36:43Ray Comfort: Are women more likely to be governed by feelings than men?
- 36:47Ray Comfort: It's a good question, see ya, because they are more emotional.
- 36:51Emeal Zwayne: We should have asked Rachel when we had her here.
- 36:53Ray Comfort: They're more emotional.
- 36:54Ray Comfort: They're more tender than men.
- 36:56Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, look, I would say there's nothing wrong with us acknowledging that there are things that we may be more susceptible toward because of our makeup as men and women.
- 37:05Emeal Zwayne: That's a part of you wear makeup.
- 37:08Oscar Navarro: We need to isolate all of these little statements, oh that's right, I'm a woman, I wear makeup.
- 37:14Emeal Zwayne: You know what?
- 37:14Emeal Zwayne: You don't even have to do that with AI now.
- 37:17Emeal Zwayne: It could take your voice and make you say all kinds of things.
- 37:20Ray Comfort: I would say, probably as a general consensus and a general truth, that yeah women may be more susceptible to be moved by men, but they can be more empathetic than men.
- 37:31Oscar Navarro: Absolutely, there's a good side to it.
- 37:33Oscar Navarro: Right, Let me look at this from a cultural perspective and I'm kind of live processing the question, which I would say that I would say that we probably have a perception of emotions in which we think well, that is an emotional behavior, when we don't realize that all of us are being governed by some emotion at some point in time.
- 37:52Oscar Navarro: And I would also say that, like culturally speaking, if you look at the way men, for example, pursued emotional expression in the Old Testament, they were way more expressive than women.
- 38:05Oscar Navarro: The psalmists are written by men, mostly all men and so I would say that we probably perceive the emotions of women greater than we perceive our own emotions, Because I think that men are pretty emotional, Although side note, this is kind of funny.
- 38:23Oscar Navarro: I was gonna say this earlier that when I first got married, my wife used to be like man, you don't have feelings, and I go.
- 38:29Oscar Navarro: What do you mean?
- 38:30Oscar Navarro: I feel hungry, I feel tired.
- 38:34Emeal Zwayne: I feel bored.
- 38:35Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, I mean, I think that, based on again, how we're designed and what God made women for, I would say I mean and again it's hard to really pinpoint it exactly and to articulate it but I think that obviously men and women both feel, of course we do.
- 38:56Emeal Zwayne: That's the whole point and that's what leads us, but I would say that women's feelings are probably more accentuated than men's.
- 39:03Emeal Zwayne: On on in, in specific areas especially and again that's not a bad thing Like immediately someone talks about it's like oh, what are you trying to say?
- 39:11Emeal Zwayne: No, we're just saying that women, you know, have a more accentuated feelings and sometimes that can lead to more negative things.
- 39:20Emeal Zwayne: It doesn't have to but In a positive way, like their empathy towards children.
- 39:24Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, in those positive senses, absolutely, yeah, so so we like women.
- 39:31Oscar Navarro: I like one of them basically Me too.
- 39:37Emeal Zwayne: Yeah.
- 39:37Emeal Zwayne: So, mark, what do we say to believers right now who are listening and they say I try to control my feelings, I hear what you're saying like, okay, truth, truth, truth.
- 39:47Emeal Zwayne: But what do I do if they just keep just coming up, like the TV keeps coming back on?
- 39:52Mark Spence: Yeah, how do I deal with them?
- 39:54Mark Spence: Well, remember, scripture tells us that the fruit of the Spirit not the fruits of the Spirit, but the fruit of the Spirit is for those that have memorized it love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, Self-control.
- 40:04Mark Spence: Self-control right.
- 40:05Mark Spence: So self-control is one layer of somebody who is born again.
- 40:10Mark Spence: So if you're a Christian, you have self-control.
- 40:13Mark Spence: A lemon tree will never produce an apple.
- 40:16Mark Spence: A lemon tree will never produce an apple.
- 40:17Mark Spence: It's absolutely impossible.
- 40:17Mark Spence: And if you see a lemon tree producing apples, throw it in the trash because it's not.
- 40:22Ray Comfort: Well, actually you could sell it to Ray, yeah.
- 40:25Mark Spence: Craft it in.
- 40:26Mark Spence: So we are designed within our biblical DNA to produce a fruit that is heavenward.
- 40:32Mark Spence: Our roots grow upward.
- 40:34Mark Spence: So when somebody says, well, listen, I have all the fruits of the Spirit except for self-control.
- 40:37Mark Spence: Well, listen, I have all the fruits of the Spirit except for self-control.
- 40:39Mark Spence: Well then you need to examine your faith, to see if you're in the faith.
- 40:43Mark Spence: Examine yourself, because you will have self-control as a believer.
- 40:48Mark Spence: Sure you're going to grow and sure you're going to mature.
- 40:50Mark Spence: You're going to be sanctified.
- 40:51Mark Spence: You're going to change from glory to glory as you learn, precept upon precept.
- 40:54Mark Spence: However, there's not going to be something that God's going to withhold from you.
- 40:59Mark Spence: And in this area, you could say well, I don't have the ability to do what you're asking me to do, or I have only the ability to do this thing over here, which might be sinful.
- 41:10Emeal Zwayne: That's simply not the case, yeah that's good, mark, and I would say too.
- 41:14Emeal Zwayne: To sum it up, I think this word really helps us when it comes to feelings that are contrary to truth Ignore them.
- 41:21Emeal Zwayne: Ignore them, don't feed them.
- 41:24Emeal Zwayne: Don't allow them to have oxygen to stay alive like a fire.
- 41:29Emeal Zwayne: Don't feed them so that they can continue to grow.
- 41:32Mark Spence: Not one peak, even Nope.
- 41:34Mark Spence: Or, as the dyslexic people say, not even one peak.
- 41:38Ray Comfort: So where's that?
- 41:39Emeal Zwayne: from oh boy, from my book Fight Like a man a Biblical Battle for Personal Purity, available now.
- 41:46Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, wait, I was going to say something it's available.
- 41:49Emeal Zwayne: It's available right now.
- 41:51Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, people can get it now For sale on Amazoncom, whoa.
- 41:54Oscar Navarro: And LivingWaterscom yes.
- 41:56Emeal Zwayne: What was?
- 41:57Ray Comfort: I going to say how to make your memory improve.
- 42:00Emeal Zwayne: Oh, ignore them, Don't feed them, don't give in to them, ray.
- 42:06Emeal Zwayne: Someone says I don't feel like sharing the gospel.
- 42:11Ray Comfort: Go.
- 42:11Ray Comfort: I'm one of them.
- 42:12Ray Comfort: I don't like sharing.
- 42:17Mark Spence: What Cognitive test?
- 42:22Ray Comfort: Yeah, I really don't like feeling sharing the gospel.
- 42:24Ray Comfort: I've got a lazy boy recliner, I've got a nice big TV, I've got a remote.
- 42:28Ray Comfort: I feel like just staying here.
- 42:30Ray Comfort: That's the feeling I get every day.
- 42:31Ray Comfort: But I don't go by feelings.
- 42:33Ray Comfort: I go by the fact that people are going to hell and so I get on my electric bike, put my sunglasses on my dog and go there and come back feeling really good.
- 42:40Ray Comfort: We call it dragon feet, clicking heels, ministry.
- 42:43Ray Comfort: And when you look at the book of Acts, the disciples seem to drag their feet when they're going to come back clicking the heels, rejoicing.
- 42:49Ray Comfort: And that's exactly what happens Every time you go to share the gospel.
- 42:52Ray Comfort: It's going to be dragging your feet, negative feelings.
- 42:53Ray Comfort: You come ragging your feet, negative feelings.
- 42:54Ray Comfort: You come back rejoicing because you've been obedient to the Great Commission.
- 42:58Emeal Zwayne: Wow, and that's discipline.
- 43:00Emeal Zwayne: I mean, oscar, that must be encouraging to people.
- 43:03Emeal Zwayne: They just heard Ray Comfort everyone knows Ray's reputation when it comes to evangelism saying I don't feel like sharing the gospel, I mean we can all, as a community of God's people, say, hey, yeah, we understand, like fully, like really understand, and I think sometimes people get that sense of like nah, no, but we really mean it, like, yeah, you guys see us preaching the gospel on the streets.
- 43:25Emeal Zwayne: You see us.
- 43:25Emeal Zwayne: Sure, are there times when maybe there's some excitement in it?
- 43:28Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, that does happen, but a lot of times we don't feel like it and so hopefully that should be an encouragement to people, absolutely.
- 43:37Oscar Navarro: I mean, look to Jesus.
- 43:38Oscar Navarro: He didn't stand before the cross and go.
- 43:40Oscar Navarro: I'm feeling this right now, Right.
- 43:42Emeal Zwayne: Remember Jesus in Gethsemane, right Father, if there's any way, this cup can pass from me.
- 43:47Emeal Zwayne: So why did?
- 43:47Oscar Navarro: he do it For the joy set before him, knowing of the fruit that would come from his obedience, not that emotional moment.
- 43:58Oscar Navarro: And that is the same reason why we share the gospel knowing the fruit that's gonna come from our obedience, the joy set before us.
- 44:06Oscar Navarro: And I would just say one other thing in regards to like those feelings, like what do we do with them, I would, as a reminder, I said at the top of this episode your feelings are a window to your own heart and Jeremiah 17, 9 says the heart is deceitful, above all things, and desperately sick.
- 44:23Oscar Navarro: Who could understand it?
- 44:25Oscar Navarro: So, ignore your feelings.
- 44:26Oscar Navarro: I would say, don't allow your feelings to dictate your actions.
- 44:32Oscar Navarro: Rather, look at your feelings as an opportunity to better understand the condition of your heart what area of my life am I not submitting to the Lord?
- 44:43Oscar Navarro: And then look at that as an opportunity for repentance.
- 44:46Oscar Navarro: Amen.
- 44:46Emeal Zwayne: I mean, guys, seriously, are there not enough examples in our lives where we didn't feel like doing something?
- 44:52Emeal Zwayne: We did it, and then we can look back and say I'm so glad, Ray, I think of Mario, it's very likely you didn't feel like going out that day.
- 44:59Ray Comfort: I felt like driving past him on my bike.
- 45:01Emeal Zwayne: Oh really.
- 45:02Ray Comfort: Yes.
- 45:02Mark Spence: You remember exactly I actually went past him.
- 45:04Mark Spence: What are we talking about?
- 45:04Mark Spence: Real quick Mario.
- 45:06Ray Comfort: There's a video out called Mario, which seems to bring everyone to tears.
- 45:10Ray Comfort: How many millions?
- 45:11Ray Comfort: 4.5 or something like that, and I was just a Sunday afternoon and I go past this guy who's standing by a tree and the immediate feeling I had was he wouldn't be interested in going on camera because Huntington Beach 50 people will turn down an invitation to come on camera before we get one.
- 45:27Ray Comfort: When it's at the local college, it's about one in 20 will come on.
- 45:31Ray Comfort: And going through that area that I go in, most people say no, no, because I'm a stranger just going past like I'm on YouTube.
- 45:38Ray Comfort: But he says yes and away we went and I'm so glad.
- 45:41Ray Comfort: It's a highlight and often when I pray I say Lord, please give me a Mario today.
- 45:46Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, yeah, mark, I think of the number of people.
- 45:49Emeal Zwayne: I think what if you didn't feel like and you probably didn't that day when you went to Huntington and you ended up witnessing to those three young ladies that are in the what Is it movie?
- 45:58Mark Spence: right, yeah, that's exactly right.
- 45:59Mark Spence: And before I forget, if you want to watch the encounter that Ray had with Mario, go to our YouTube channel, living Waters, and it's entitled.
- 46:07Mark Spence: He Didn't Care About God, but Was In Tears After Hearing this 4.4 million views.
- 46:16Mark Spence: Yeah, that's exactly right.
- 46:18Mark Spence: I don't know if you remember this, izzy, but when I went down to huntington beach to get interviews for our movie what is it?
- 46:25Mark Spence: I was sitting in my car for about 45 minutes talking myself out of going and witnessing and sharing the gospel.
- 46:32Mark Spence: I went up and down the pier all the way to the edge, probably about three, three or four times.
- 46:37Mark Spence: I went back to my car, sat in my car and then I sent texts out to a bunch of different people saying I do not feel like being here today.
- 46:43Mark Spence: I don't want to, but I know this is where I need to be, and I just dragged my feet for probably two hours before I actually went up and down.
- 46:51Mark Spence: And then I went underneath the pier and I saw these three girls who were watching these guys play volleyball, and then I went up to them.
- 46:58Mark Spence: I asked them if they were willing to come on camera and to share their thoughts on a moral dilemma.
- 47:02Mark Spence: During the interview they found out that it was about abortion, but they wanted to go down by the water, away from everybody, so that they wouldn't be seen with an old man.
- 47:10Mark Spence: That's really what they said to me.
- 47:11Mark Spence: And then, once I got the interview of those three, people Well, I'm glad I didn't meet them.
- 47:16Ray Comfort: The interview of those three people Well I'm glad.
- 47:18Mark Spence: I didn't meet them, that ancient man, that ancient man.
- 47:24Mark Spence: And then when I got that interview, I did what Ray does when he gets a good interview you get out of there as fast as you possibly can before they change their mind.
- 47:29Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, and what a beautiful encounter that was.
- 47:33Emeal Zwayne: And again, all of us can testify to that.
- 47:35Emeal Zwayne: When I witnessed to Davin at Huntington Beach, it has like over half a million views now.
- 47:41Emeal Zwayne: That Jewish guy Again.
- 47:43Emeal Zwayne: It was like yeah.
- 47:45Emeal Zwayne: I didn't really feel like it that day but, by God's grace, we went down to Comic-Con and I was witnessing to people, and I was witnessing to this one girl and guy that were dressed up like Ghostbusters and I'm witnessing to them.
- 47:58Emeal Zwayne: It was going well and then she just like turned on me and just got really nasty and accused me of stealing, like trying to steal her stuff, because she left her bag on the ground and then walked away.
- 48:09Emeal Zwayne: And it's like you tried, what are you talking about?
- 48:11Emeal Zwayne: Did that get filmed?
- 48:12Emeal Zwayne: So I was so discouraged, like after that I'm like'm like oh, and I still had to keep going and we're doing getting encounters and tanny put together a video of it and it went totally viral yeah we put it up what is it a week ago or so days ago?
- 48:25Emeal Zwayne: 471 000 views right now and then the full video will be coming out here pretty soon we're gonna do the full video, because people are saying I want to see the full video and so that's good when something like that happens.
- 48:36Ray Comfort: I happen to have a cameraman that comes to me every Saturday at Huntington Beach, yale.
- 48:42Emeal Zwayne: Yale, he will prevail.
- 48:43Emeal Zwayne: He's the one that we will help he's trying to get me to slap someone's face while I'm witnessing to them so he can film it Slap slap.
- 48:49Oscar Navarro: I was just thinking real quick of Pita I was deathly afraid of preaching to that guy.
- 48:54Oscar Navarro: He looked like he wanted to break me in hand In Fiji, in Fiji, but then I preached to him and everything that led after that, including preaching to the ladies.
- 49:01Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, this was a guy, and Oscar witnessed him.
- 49:04Emeal Zwayne: He was in tears and he says I want to take you to my village and we go to the village, and I want to take you to my chief right, my chief, yeah, In the village.
- 49:11Emeal Zwayne: And so we go and the chief wasn't there.
- 49:13Emeal Zwayne: His wife was.
- 49:13Emeal Zwayne: She takes us to the chief's parents' house.
- 49:16Emeal Zwayne: We all sit on the ground and I share the gospel with the family and the chief's wife starts to cry and she just was like we're so blessed that you've come here to share this news with us.
- 49:26Ray Comfort: So this is season 10 of the Way of the Most High.

- 49:50Emeal Zwayne: And my other saying is do what's right.
- 49:52Emeal Zwayne: Be at rest, because at the end of the day, that's all that we can do.
- 49:55Emeal Zwayne: Don't let your feelings rule you.
- 49:57Emeal Zwayne: There are souls that God wants to save.
- 49:59Emeal Zwayne: There are people that he wants to touch through you.
- 50:02Emeal Zwayne: There are so many things that you can do for the glory of God and his kingdom in this world.
- 50:08Emeal Zwayne: If you just deny yourself, deny your feelings, really take up your cross, die to self, die to your feelings and follow him, and the Lord will do great things.
- 50:17Ray Comfort: How do you feel it went today?
