- 0:29Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, so I want to ask you about your gifts, what gifts?
- 0:34Do you think you have? I'm not talking about gifts,
- 0:36people gave you. I'm talking about the gifts of
- 0:40who you are as a person. What are your gifts, like, do
- 0:44you see that you have gifts? This is an interesting thing to
- 0:49think about because often we as human beings will view what we
- 0:53have. That have been given to us as
- 0:54gifts. As nuisances at as things that
- 1:00are getting in our way, as things that are haunting us
- 1:03there, like that, petulant child at your pants.
- 1:05Pulling on your leg going mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom mom and
- 1:09annoying us because we're not using them.
- 1:12And sometimes those gifts are so important to us and we Overlook
- 1:17them and then they become our heartache, because we're not
- 1:20living up to what those gifts are.
- 1:23We're not using them, you know, it's often been said that.
- 1:26Your gifts are the things that God gives you, are the gifts
- 1:30that he gives you in yourself what you do with them, is your
- 1:33gift back and the first time I heard that phrase years ago,
- 1:39someone looked at me and said, you know, that Talent of being
- 1:42able to talk to anybody anywhere at any time, is not your
- 1:45hinderance. It's your gift from God.
- 1:47What you do with it, is your gift back and I was
- 1:51flabbergasted because I'd never heard it that way my entire
- 1:55life. People had said to me, I mean,
- 1:57from the time I was little every single report card was she talks
- 2:01too much? She asked too many questions.
- 2:03Can you imagine having a teacher right on the report card she
- 2:08asks too many questions seriously that I wish I still
- 2:12had all of them to take pictures and show the comments and show
- 2:16what teachers said but I lived that every single report card
- 2:21and my parents were always like, can't you just like chill out?
- 2:25Can't you sit there and relax? Max, my father would say, you
- 2:28know, you don't have to ask that many questions and I was like,
- 2:31but I do, I don't understand. So I'm asking questions and it
- 2:34wasn't that I didn't understand the concepts.
- 2:36It was that I had more things. I wanted to know because I am
- 2:40driven by curiosity and I'm driven by that need to keep
- 2:44going and figure out more. I can't explain why my soul is
- 2:48such a voracious learner, but I can say my clue is that?
- 2:53It's because I do this. It's because I'm constantly
- 2:55learning. And it's because I'm constantly
- 2:57trying to teach. So it's that push in the gift
- 3:03that shapes us and when we ignore the gift or try to put it
- 3:07away, it no longer becomes our gift, it becomes our ulcer, it
- 3:10becomes our heart attack. It becomes our are like
- 3:16overwhelming anxiety. All the sicknesses because we
- 3:19are at Ali's or dis ease. You know, we can't keep
- 3:23ourselves set because we're not living together.
- 3:26Potential. We have and we're not living to
- 3:28the person that we are. We're doing something different,
- 3:31we're doing, the things that are not, right?
- 3:33And at least for us, and we've got to have a blend of things.
- 3:36We have to have balance nature is all about balance.
- 3:39That's why we have seasons. That's why things grow and then
- 3:43they stop growing. That's why the garden.
- 3:45I mean, lessons from the garden. It's something that's so
- 3:49important. I sit here and I could I could
- 3:52give you a hundred different podcasts on just the garden
- 3:55outside of the chicken. Ian's, it's amazing how
- 3:59everything is cyclical. Everything is cyclical and where
- 4:03some things, you know, grow really well in fall, other
- 4:06things won't grow at all. And it's all about looking at
- 4:10the waves of how it works. So, looking at yourself and
- 4:15saying, what are my gifts is so incredibly imperative to your
- 4:21progress to your mental well-being, to staying out of a
- 4:26Of anxiety and stress because when you know these things when
- 4:29you know, what are your gifts and whether you're using them or
- 4:32not, then you can progress forward.
- 4:35Now, I will say this and I want to point this out because I
- 4:37will, I will beat this drum all the way home years ago.
- 4:44Many, many, many, many, many years ago, people were coveted
- 4:48for having multiple talents. They were referred to as
- 4:51Renaissance men and women they were referred to as someone who,
- 4:55you know, Oh, oh. Oh, that person's a genius
- 4:58because they could do multiple things.
- 4:59Think about what you know about Leonardo DaVinci, think about
- 5:04what you know about Albert Einstein, think great minds that
- 5:08have done things. And if we use Leonardo DaVinci,
- 5:11as an example, I mean, Not only, was he an artist?
- 5:14Not only was he, a painter, Not only, was he an inventor, he
- 5:19invented badass, things, he didn't just invent little
- 5:23things. He did, he invented badass
- 5:25things, he thought About challenges and I mean he
- 5:28designed a flying machine. Wait.
- 5:32Hey, before the Wright brothers ever?
- 5:34Even thought of doing this, this man was putting details on paper
- 5:38for this. Now, say what you will about the
- 5:43whole Master. Take one thing and master it.
- 5:46Some people are wired for that way.
- 5:49Some people Soul are just like I'm on task for one thing and
- 5:52that's what I want to do. But most of us are not, most of
- 5:56us have multiple interest, multiple things, that we, we
- 5:59could, and should be doing, but because society says, well do
- 6:03one thing and do that for 10,000 hours and that's it.
- 6:07Listen, I've got 40,000 hours plus and coaching and I also am
- 6:11obsessed with my Gardens. I am obsessed with growing
- 6:14things. I'm obsessed with plants.
- 6:16I paint. I draw.
- 6:18I am. My camera is never not near me.
- 6:22An iPhone turning into the camera was Is like the best
- 6:25thing ever, but I always have my DSLR nearby.
- 6:29I'm always taking photographs, why?
- 6:32Because I believe in those talents, I believe in that
- 6:36creativity and I believe, when I'm doing those things, I am
- 6:39getting better. I am willing to take my gifts
- 6:42and use them, you know, think of it this way, someone gives you a
- 6:45gift and it sits on the kitchen table and you refused to open
- 6:48it. You've got this beautiful gift,
- 6:49it's nicely wrapped in you refuse to open it.
- 6:51That would never happen. You'd open the gift you'd want
- 6:53to see what was in it. Well, you are that gift from the
- 6:56universe. From God, open it, open it and
- 6:59see all of it. Don't just take the thing,
- 7:01that's on the top of the tissue paper, dig to the bottom.
- 7:04Look at all the goodies on the bottom, because sometimes the
- 7:06stuff on the bottom is the best. When my mother would pack my
- 7:09Christmas stocking. She would always fill the toe
- 7:11with Hershey kisses. And as a kid that was like I
- 7:14couldn't wait to get to the toe, no matter what else was in
- 7:17there, the Hershey kisses were awesome.
- 7:19So look at all your gifts, dig to the bottom, accept your It's
