- 0:07Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on everybody? Welcome into another edition of
- 0:11Speaker 1: to check Odaily. Andrew Dicheco here, Eagles beat reporter for
- 0:14Speaker 1: insidethbirds dot Com. Well, it's another day in the life
- 0:17Speaker 1: here at the NFL Scouting Combine, Day two for me. Obviously,
- 0:22Speaker 1: there's a lot going on, and today, while there isn't
- 0:25Speaker 1: anything Eagles related, there's some stories out there on inside
- 0:29Speaker 1: the birds dot Com. Be sure to check those out.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Today was more about the prospects, and I got a
- 0:33Speaker 1: chance to talk to some linebackers, some edge rushers. Obviously
- 0:38Speaker 1: that's going to be really important to keep in mind
- 0:40Speaker 1: here as the Eagles have to make a difficult decision
- 0:43Speaker 1: on Jaywen Phillips. And I have to say, as the
- 0:46Speaker 1: days continue on, it's hard to figure out Jalen Phillips' range,
- 0:53Speaker 1: but I have to imagine it could be twenty five
- 0:56Speaker 1: million or north, which would make it really difficult for
- 0:59Speaker 1: the Eagles to be able to keep him in the building.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And they're gonna make every attempt to do so. But
- 1:04Speaker 1: if not, they're going to have to remake that edge
- 1:06Speaker 1: rusher room. And I spoke to a couple of good
- 1:08Speaker 1: ones today, Josh Josephs from Tennessee. Really impressive guy. Enjoyed
- 1:13Speaker 1: my conversation with him. He said he modeled his game
- 1:16Speaker 1: after Daniel Hunter and Byron Young, but also really highlighted
- 1:22Speaker 1: his ability to drop in coverage and his length and
- 1:25Speaker 1: ability to kind of win in a multitude of ways
- 1:29Speaker 1: against tackles. Seemingly that would be a good fit for
- 1:32Speaker 1: this kind of a defense, but I view him more
- 1:34Speaker 1: as a Day three prospect. Then, of course, there's Derek
- 1:38Speaker 1: Moore from Michigan who met with the Eagles today. As
- 1:41Speaker 1: it was reported. He's a twenty three year old play
- 1:45Speaker 1: he had a very illustrious career there at Michigan, so
- 1:49Speaker 1: he's an interesting guy to keep an eye on as well.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And of course the big names are you know, Bain
- 1:56Speaker 1: and David Bailey. The Eagles aren't going to be in
- 1:59Speaker 1: the market for those players are going to go at
- 2:01Speaker 1: the top end of the first round. But there are
- 2:04Speaker 1: a lot of really good players, including TJ. Parker from Clemson,
- 2:09Speaker 1: And there's just a lot of players there that I
- 2:11Speaker 1: think kind of fit the mold, whether it's length or
- 2:14Speaker 1: or body type or ability to drop in the coverage there,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and so they're gonna need more than that obviously, but
- 2:22Speaker 1: there's a lot of really intriguing names here in Indianapolis,
- 2:24Speaker 1: So keep an eye on some of those guys as
- 2:27Speaker 1: the combine advances and the workouts take place over the weekend.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Then there was some interesting players in the linebacker room
- 2:35Speaker 1: that I got a chance to speak to, and one
- 2:38Speaker 1: of them being Josiah Trotter, the younger brother of Eagles
- 2:41Speaker 1: linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Junior and son of Eagles legend Jeremiah
- 2:47Speaker 1: Trotter the father. And so he had a lot of
- 2:52Speaker 1: really interesting things to say as it pertained to growing
- 2:55Speaker 1: up with Jeremiah and they played together at Saint Joe's Prep.
- 2:59Speaker 1: But I asked him about the competitiveness, the inherent competitiveness
- 3:04Speaker 1: growing up alongside his older brother, and the quote that
- 3:07Speaker 1: he said was, it was definitely an experience with him
- 3:10Speaker 1: being the younger brother. Sometimes you get beat up, sometimes
- 3:13Speaker 1: you win games, you lose games with him, but it
- 3:15Speaker 1: was a lot of fun. I love having him as
- 3:17Speaker 1: an older brother. He's the reason I love playing football.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Just watching him. He means a lot to me. He's
- 3:23Speaker 1: a big factor. Why on the player I am today,
- 3:25Speaker 1: Just continuing to help me, checking up on me a
- 3:28Speaker 1: lot of mistakes he made. I was able to learn
- 3:30Speaker 1: from him. He talked about he was asked about the
- 3:33Speaker 1: X Man celebration, He was asked about the lessons that
- 3:37Speaker 1: his brother passed along to him, and it was very
- 3:40Speaker 1: apparent that there's a strong bond and a connection as
- 3:44Speaker 1: you would expect between brothers. And while I don't expect
- 3:47Speaker 1: the Eagles to draft him, I think he's going to
- 3:50Speaker 1: be more of a Day two player. Never say never,
- 3:52Speaker 1: but this is a player who he offers more size
- 3:56Speaker 1: than his brother, and at six two two thirty seven,
- 3:58Speaker 1: he's a really good blitzer, a little bit more athletic,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and what really impresses me is his ability to cover
- 4:04Speaker 1: a lot of ground. He talked about how important it
- 4:07Speaker 1: was for him to forge his own identity. Went to
- 4:10Speaker 1: West Virginia, didn't go to Clemson. He ended up going
- 4:13Speaker 1: to Missouri and kind of made his own way there.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So a lot of good stuff to take away. I
- 4:18Speaker 1: will have a story on him on Inside the Birds
- 4:21Speaker 1: dot com. And Eric Gentry is an interesting player that
- 4:26Speaker 1: I spoke to. He went to USC by way of
- 4:29Speaker 1: Arizona State. He's six foot six, really unique size for
- 4:33Speaker 1: the position, and he won't be testing until the Trojans
- 4:37Speaker 1: Pro Day. But interestingly enough, he attended Saints Newman Garretti
- 4:42Speaker 1: High School in South Philadelphia, and I asked him about
- 4:45Speaker 1: growing up in Philadelphia, which is really where at Newman
- 4:47Speaker 1: Garretti where he transitioned from. He was a defensive vent
- 4:51Speaker 1: and a linebacker and at six foot six, he was
- 4:53Speaker 1: drawn to linebacker there and that's where he came into
- 4:56Speaker 1: his own. But he also added, growing up in Philly,
- 4:58Speaker 1: it's a mindset. There's a loyalty about the city. There's
- 5:02Speaker 1: a mindset about the city. It's a pride about being
- 5:04Speaker 1: from there. If you're from two blocks away, people would
- 5:07Speaker 1: not consider you from Philly unless you're over here. I
- 5:10Speaker 1: love the city so much, it's amazing. But it helped
- 5:12Speaker 1: me because not only would I rather be rather not
- 5:15Speaker 1: be from anywhere else, but more importantly, I think the
- 5:18Speaker 1: things that it instilled in me every day of just
- 5:21Speaker 1: mindset being grateful where I'm at. I got guys who've
- 5:24Speaker 1: never been to the West Coast ever in their life,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and I've been able to experience that and live there
- 5:29Speaker 1: for years. So I feel more blessed to have that
- 5:31Speaker 1: situation go on. And he's more of a Day three player.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I do have questions as to how he would ultimately
- 5:39Speaker 1: transition to that position at the pro level. But this
- 5:44Speaker 1: is someone who is a toolsy guy. He moves well,
- 5:47Speaker 1: good length, can rush the past or a little bit.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Has a linear frame, so he would like to see
- 5:53Speaker 1: maybe add some more size to it. But he is
- 5:55Speaker 1: an intriguing Day three selection if they choose to go
- 5:58Speaker 1: that route. Western Michigan edge rusher Dom Tucker. It has
- 6:06Speaker 1: one of the best stories in the draft. You should
- 6:08Speaker 1: look that up you consider being a police officer, didn't
- 6:12Speaker 1: start playing football until much later in his career, much
- 6:16Speaker 1: later than most in this draft class. I view him
- 6:19Speaker 1: maybe as high as a third round pick. But he
- 6:21Speaker 1: mentioned that he met with the Eagles, and he cited
- 6:23Speaker 1: his connection with defensive line coach Clint Hurt, his position
- 6:27Speaker 1: his coach at the Senior Bowl, and talked about his
- 6:30Speaker 1: commanding presence, that it garners a lot of respect, and
- 6:34Speaker 1: he just offered up a lot of praise for Clint Hurt. Unprompted,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and I believe he said he has another interview slated
- 6:41Speaker 1: with the Eagles, so there's some interest there. Again. At
- 6:43Speaker 1: the combine, it's important to note that teams meet with
- 6:47Speaker 1: all these guys and what really separates the legitimate interest
- 6:52Speaker 1: will be determined in March with pro days, thirty visits
- 6:56Speaker 1: and all of that, So keep that in mind when
- 6:58Speaker 1: you see some of those reports. But I did find
- 7:00Speaker 1: it notable the way that he was speaking about Clint
- 7:03Speaker 1: Hurt knowing that the Eagles have a need there at edge.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And then I think tomorrow it's really going to be
- 7:08Speaker 1: important to make sure you're plugged in on inside the
- 7:10Speaker 1: Birds because that's where tight ends and cornerbacks and safeties
- 7:15Speaker 1: will all be talking. I'll make sure to speak to
- 7:19Speaker 1: a number of different tight ends as the Eagles have
- 7:22Speaker 1: bare bones in that position room Dallas Goddard free agent,
- 7:27Speaker 1: Grant kak Kata free agent, and Kylon Grants and they
- 7:29Speaker 1: only had E. J. Jenkins and Jahem Bell under contract,
- 7:33Speaker 1: so that could look like a completely different room next
- 7:37Speaker 1: season as they look to remake it. And I think
- 7:39Speaker 1: it's also interesting to see how they remake it because
- 7:43Speaker 1: the Eagles were really pass centric heavy in terms of
- 7:46Speaker 1: their tight ends last season and they lacked for an
- 7:49Speaker 1: obvious blocking tight end. I think you're going to have
- 7:51Speaker 1: to see them reconfigure or alter their approach there as
- 7:55Speaker 1: they implement a different scheme, and so I'm going to
- 7:59Speaker 1: be talking to a number of different tight ends that
- 8:01Speaker 1: have different backgrounds, that have different strengths, and trying to
- 8:05Speaker 1: better assess or have a more comprehensive overview of the position.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Hey everyone, I continue to tell you about the importance

- 10:16Speaker 2: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans. Twenty
- 10:19Speaker 2: one and.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Up players like Michael Trigg out of Bauer, of course,
- 10:24Speaker 1: Kenyon Sadik out of Oregon. You have Eli Stowers from
- 10:28Speaker 1: Vanderbilt and Joe Royer. There's a lot of players at
- 10:33Speaker 1: that position that are really talented, but the top end players,
- 10:36Speaker 1: of course, are going to be Kenyon Sadik and Eli
- 10:39Speaker 1: Stowers and Max Clair from Ohio State. So make sure
- 10:43Speaker 1: you're keeping it plugged in there because I will be
- 10:46Speaker 1: talking to those guys. The cornerback position is really interesting
- 10:49Speaker 1: because the Eagles certainly need to add there, and Howie
- 10:52Speaker 1: Roseman offered as much when he spoke to reporters at
- 10:56Speaker 1: the NFL Scouting Combined. And so I don't know that
- 11:00Speaker 1: the first round might be the optimal place to take one,
- 11:02Speaker 1: but if the values there at the Eagles have proven
- 11:04Speaker 1: that they will pounce. Avian Terrell is a player that
- 11:08Speaker 1: everyone should know as he will be the first round
- 11:11Speaker 1: corner that could go within that range. But then there's
- 11:14Speaker 1: also a couple of Toledo corners who lead things off
- 11:17Speaker 1: during the media availability on Thursday that I'm really interested
- 11:21Speaker 1: to talk to one. They had a really interesting career
- 11:25Speaker 1: at Toledo, but they also overlap with Eagles cornerback Quindon Mitchell,
- 11:29Speaker 1: so I'm interested to hear what they have to say
- 11:31Speaker 1: about maybe what they learned from him, or what they've
- 11:34Speaker 1: observed from him, maybe pulled from his game throughout their
- 11:38Speaker 1: college career. So a lot going on here in Indianapolis,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and make sure you're keeping it plugged in inside the
- 11:44Speaker 1: Birds and inside the Birds dot com and right here
- 11:47Speaker 1: on the Czech O Daily. I am Andrew Dechecko, signing
- 11:51Speaker 1: off for now from Indianapolis, and I'll catch you all
- 11:54Speaker 1: on the next one.
