- 0:13Speaker 1: just about anything, just about I don't know why people
- 0:16Speaker 1: don't take more advantage of this asking us questions, but
- 0:19Speaker 1: we need your questions. Email us Radio from Helen X
- 0:23Speaker 1: ninety six dot com and on Fridays we answer your
- 0:26Speaker 1: questions like this one from Stirling. A couple weeks ago,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I asked all of you what happens after the mics
- 0:34Speaker 1: are switched off? Thank you for your prompt on air response.
- 0:38Speaker 1: That was amazing. I have another best question for this
- 0:41Speaker 1: week that's related. There's several questions here. We can answer
- 0:46Speaker 1: them as they go. Where does Carrie go when Frank
- 0:50Speaker 1: Chris arrives? And where does Bill go when Johnnyola shows up?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Well, I.
- 0:58Speaker 3: When Johnny Ella shows up, I just crawl right here
- 1:01Speaker 3: under the console.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Oh really, yes, So you don't want to go far?
- 1:04Speaker 3: No, I just I just sit underneath the console so
- 1:07Speaker 3: that I'm kind of looking up at Johnny's where he's
- 1:12Speaker 3: sitting on the chair reverently.
- 1:15Speaker 4: You're looking up reverently.
- 1:16Speaker 3: No, I'm just I'm actually hoping he'll drop a piece
- 1:19Speaker 3: of food.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I just run out into the canteena here and wait
- 1:24Speaker 4: for Frank to leave.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You don't care for him, do you?
- 1:27Speaker 4: Well? You know I am somewhat of a celebrity and
- 1:31Speaker 4: cancer survivor.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So I yeah, death is always looming. I want to
- 1:35Speaker 1: be far away from it, if possible.
- 1:37Speaker 4: The big sea looms, The future's uncertain, in the end
- 1:40Speaker 4: is always near.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yes, as they say, As Jim Morrison once said.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Do you have a room adjacent to the studio, like
- 1:47Speaker 1: a mother's lounge that stocked with quiet activities like coloring books,
- 1:51Speaker 1: puzzles and Star Trek action figures? We should put something
- 1:55Speaker 1: like that in a contract, don't you.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Think if at a contract? Yeah?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Or is it more like a hefteresque lounge equipped with
- 2:06Speaker 1: silk smoker jackets, open bar and cigar humid ores?
- 2:09Speaker 4: I wish, well, it's it's uh, it's Katie's studio, but dinosaurs.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Speaking of that, I would like to I would like
- 2:18Speaker 3: a smoking jacket. And I don't like for here or home. No,
- 2:22Speaker 3: for home, because you've you've taken up I've taken up
- 2:26Speaker 3: smoking an occasional cigar and having an occasional pipe and uh,
- 2:30Speaker 3: smoking jackets. Now I know I'd really like to find
- 2:33Speaker 3: one second hand for purpose. Why because it's broken in Yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 3: and just kind of like more not modern looking, not
- 2:42Speaker 3: something that's modern looking. Something cost And it's for two reasons.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I so I did a little resear. I mean I
- 2:49Speaker 3: could buy there's there's a store in London that specializes
- 2:52Speaker 3: in smoking jackets, but there are thousands of dollars thousands
- 2:56Speaker 3: of Yes, But the reason you have a smoking jack
- 2:59Speaker 3: too reasons. One, in case embers fall on you, you
- 3:05Speaker 3: won't burn your.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Your nice clothes or whatever it's made.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And the other reason is really the reason I'm only
- 3:11Speaker 3: one is to so your clothes don't get all stinky.
- 3:15Speaker 2: The jacket will get stinky.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Maybe the Spirit Halloween store has one.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Maybe, Yeah, maybe that I'll try that. I mean it
- 3:22Speaker 2: gets in your hair, yeah, not too bad.
- 3:26Speaker 3: They're they Oh they're also smoking caps. They used to
- 3:29Speaker 3: have smoking cap They're like a like a rare hoop
- 3:33Speaker 3: with a little tassel on it.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You need all of this. I would wear it and
- 3:38Speaker 2: sit on.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Your front porch in my smoking jack with slippers. And
- 3:42Speaker 3: I don't have slippers either, So if anybody has an
- 3:44Speaker 3: old smoking jacket they want to get rid of all,
- 3:46Speaker 3: buy it from you.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Or to back to Sterling's question, do you walk the
- 3:52Speaker 1: halls briskly, head down, angrily repeating Tom Barberry's linguistic warm
- 3:57Speaker 1: up phrase, you know, so you can stay limber for
- 3:59Speaker 1: when you go back to the studio. You have to
- 4:02Speaker 1: find one of our podcasts where I give you the
- 4:06Speaker 1: Tom up phrase. It's not smart to mutter that around
- 4:10Speaker 1: here because you never know when microphones are on.
- 4:12Speaker 3: But you know, Sterling, what there isn't There is a
- 4:14Speaker 3: certain amount of truth in that question, because when the
- 4:19Speaker 3: ten o'clock, when the microphones go off, I had the tendency,
- 4:22Speaker 3: and I think carry does too. We walk briskly to
- 4:25Speaker 3: our desks, trying not to make eye contact with anyone
- 4:28Speaker 3: else who works here exactly and and uh, and try
- 4:31Speaker 3: to immediately absorb ourselves into what we're doing at our
- 4:35Speaker 3: desks so that no one will talk to us.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You want to, And I think people are afraid to
- 4:40Speaker 1: talk to you guys. I don't think they're afraid to
- 4:43Speaker 1: talk to me, but I think they're afraid to talk.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I don't know what they think will happen if.
- 4:47Speaker 3: They don't have much opportunity to talk to you because
- 4:50Speaker 3: you're you hit the door exactly, You do your four
- 4:53Speaker 3: and hit the door.
- 4:56Speaker 4: And catch me on the way to the elevator. There's
- 4:58Speaker 4: one or two people here that will speak to.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Me, yeah, you know, and you're perfectly pleasant when you
- 5:03Speaker 1: speak to them.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Sure.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Also, have you ever not hit the sensor button in
- 5:08Speaker 1: time when someone lets out a diddleid arn doodle son
- 5:11Speaker 1: of a crap fly on accident, like during the earthquake
- 5:14Speaker 1: or some similar time.
- 5:16Speaker 3: It's usually been me in the past, as I recall,
- 5:20Speaker 3: I'll say some and Terry will well.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Back before we had it, before we had a dumb
- 5:26Speaker 2: buck button.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I occasionally just you let it rip, yeah, and I well,
- 5:33Speaker 3: thinking the microphones were off.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Yeah, the last time in this studio was was the earthquake.
- 5:38Speaker 4: But I remember one time up at KJQ and Ogden,
- 5:43Speaker 4: you were in the hallway chatting some people up.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 4: And I said, one minute, You're like yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:50Speaker 4: You kept chatting them up. And I said, thirty seconds
- 5:53Speaker 4: you just kept chatting them up. You went yeah, yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 4: yeah yeah, and then I and then I said we're on.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And you got so mad.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I got mad, and I started swearing, Yeah, I don't know,
- 6:06Speaker 3: and I'm like, we're on the and then and then
- 6:10Speaker 3: my face immediately went red. Yeah, And it was just
- 6:14Speaker 3: one of those things where I was I was on
- 6:17Speaker 3: edge for some reason, you know, And so I snapped
- 6:21Speaker 3: at Carrie.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Did you apologize? Yes, but there was no dumb button. No,
- 6:26Speaker 4: oh it was and the F word and it went out.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It just yeah, this was.
- 6:31Speaker 1: This was many, many, many years ago. So don't file
- 6:34Speaker 1: a complaint because it was. It was towards the beginning
- 6:38Speaker 1: of the forty years.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes, we got a text.
- 6:42Speaker 1: It says what size jacket for Bill? I have the
- 6:45Speaker 1: coolest old red Swede smoking jacket that would suit him
- 6:48Speaker 1: much better than me.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I don't know what size you got, probably, you know,
- 6:51Speaker 3: I don't know what I don't know what size coat
- 6:53Speaker 3: I wear.
- 6:55Speaker 4: There's always a follow up question.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Sparky, you got that in your text or send an
- 7:00Speaker 3: email sparky.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah, just send it to.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Uh send it to Bill at x nine six dot com.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, and send your questions to radio from
- 7:14Speaker 1: how at x ninety six dot com. Put best question
