- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So how much do you think you spend time in a state of awe?
- 0:37Like do you really walk around in your world looking for things
- 0:41that are absolutely like wow, or do you just go through the day
- 0:48meandering? Maybe here and there you'll pick
- 0:50up some and be like, that's cool, but do you really think
- 0:53you send time cultivating and working on a state of awe and
- 0:59looking at the world like the wondrous lace that it is?
- 1:03So this is something that I really try to work on for
- 1:06myself, you know, regularly because it makes you, it just
- 1:10lifts your soul. It puts you in a different place
- 1:14of attraction. It puts you energetically on a
- 1:17different plane. It's scientifically proven that
- 1:20the happier, happier you are, the more you pour into that side
- 1:24of yourself, the more quality of a life you have, the the better
- 1:30things happen to you. The better your health is, the
- 1:33better your existence is, the better your relationships are.
- 1:37Everything becomes better when you approach it and you have a
- 1:41higher state of happiness. And you know, for me, that's,
- 1:45that's cultivating a state of awe.
- 1:47Like just looking at things and being like, wow, this is
- 1:49amazing. It's so wondrous.
- 1:51And it doesn't matter what it is.
- 1:52It doesn't matter what you're looking at.
- 1:54You know, I, I obviously record this from the chicken coop
- 1:57because it's one of my happy places.
- 1:59And for me coming out here and watching them in their, in their
- 2:04little world and watching how they develop their flock and how
- 2:09you can see who's in charge and how you can watch who treats
- 2:13who, which way and how they they blend together.
- 2:17It's, it's literally to me, one of the coolest things that I
- 2:21have ever seen. Like watching, I have this whole
- 2:23little group of babies that I got at Tractor Supply and one of
- 2:28my hens adopted them for me, which was fabulous.
- 2:31She raised them. And now there are seven of them.
- 2:34And they're, they're like medium girls.
- 2:36They're like teenagers at this point.
- 2:38And they are really trying to be like big girls.
- 2:40And they are testing the waters to see how far they can go.
- 2:45And in this, you know, the hierarchy of chickens, there is
- 2:49a really is a pecking order that is real.
- 2:51That's where that phrase comes from.
- 2:53It is definitely real. And I've got some really, you
- 2:56know, dominant hens that don't like to give up any space.
- 3:02And then the rest of them are pretty easy going.
- 3:04But these little girls are trying to test the water and
- 3:07they're trying to get in there. And it all comes down to when
- 3:09you eat, where you eat, where you sleep.
- 3:13There's all these little patterns about them.
- 3:15And I watch them and observe them all the time to see how
- 3:19they're doing. And it for me, this triggers a
- 3:22state of awe. Like I, I would have never
- 3:25thought that chickens are that fascinating.
- 3:28I would never thought they have their whole language.
- 3:32I would never have understood that if I hadn't had them and
- 3:35been with them at this depth like I am here.
- 3:38Just like the fact that the rooster can make one sound and
- 3:40the entire flop, no matter where they are, freeze because there's
- 3:44a threat and he puts out an alert and everybody freezes.
- 3:47They stop whatever they're doing and they just freeze.
- 3:49And you wouldn't. Maybe you didn't know that,
- 3:52maybe you didn't know that, but it's pretty cool to watch.
- 3:54And then he makes another sound and they all come running and he
- 3:57stands there and watches them run for cover.
- 3:59And he's the one out front. He's that chivalrous male
- 4:02standing there out front making sure that they're all protected.
- 4:05He's the one that's going to take on that hawk and has to
- 4:09protect them from anything happening to them.
- 4:13But I would never. And and the day that did happen,
- 4:16by the way, I was in a complete and total state of awe to the
- 4:19point where I actually cried because I couldn't believe how
- 4:21cool he was that he would do something like this.
- 4:24I couldn't believe that he would actually put himself in harm's
- 4:28way to protect these girls. And for me, that was like, you
- 4:32know that old Paula Cole song of where have all the Cowboys gone?
- 4:36Well, I have one and he's in a chicken for him and he's here at
- 4:39my chicken coop and I, and I love him for him.
- 4:42All right. He's, he's just the coolest
- 4:44thing ever. And I really genuinely believe
- 4:47that. I am in awe of him for, for his
- 4:50willingness to do that. I watch how he goes around and
- 4:53he pulls fruit and and berries off of our trees and drops them
- 4:59on the ground so that the hens can eat them because he's quite
- 5:02bigger, quite a bit bigger than the hens and he drops them for
- 5:05him. He doesn't eat them himself.
- 5:06He feeds the girls that to me. I could stand there and say,
- 5:10wow, how cool is that? So my point of telling you all
- 5:14about chickens and this is that this is a way I get my awe.
- 5:19I get my awe fixed in this place.
- 5:22I also get it from watching flowers.
- 5:24I also get it from watching the world around me, seeing the
- 5:27trees in different light, looking at all these little
- 5:29things. Because if we stay and we just
- 5:32look for awe in our outcomes and what we're achieving personally,
- 5:36there are days where we'll be starved.
- 5:38We will be starved on it and we will leave feeling depleted.
- 5:44But if we stop and we just look around us at the, at the world
- 5:48that the universe and God have given us, we can pause and we
- 5:52can go, wow, there is so much here we that we could just be
- 5:58infinitely amazed with if we just paused and looked.
- 6:02And it recalibrates you energetically.
- 6:04It pulls you into a different headspace.
- 6:06It puts you in a place where all of a sudden now you can really
- 6:11start to feel amazing about life in general.
- 6:14And then from there, everything else gets exponentially better,
- 6:18as we know, because once you feel good, good things happen,
- 6:22you can really start to tap into that pattern of energy and
- 6:26attraction. So I hope that you have an
- 6:30amazing day finding states of awe, finding the little things
- 6:34that you, you know, fire you up. And I hope, no matter what, that
- 6:40when they present themselves to you, you take the time and you
- 6:43pause and you see them. All right, my friends, I will
- 6:46see you tomorrow. Bye.
