- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here, live from Joliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Today on this fine Friday morning, we'll be talking about corn, Brazilian beef imports, and Kevin Walsh is speaking today.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: That's the Fed chair in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that and more here in a bit.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Ending all the contracts in the green.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Live cattle closed at$212.93, up$2.15.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were up$3.45 at$3.22.45.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Lean Hogs were down in the front month, but green and the rest of them on the front month there, they were down 28 cents at$80.63.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: As I quote the grain market here, live with our quotes from plus 500, like to shout them out.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: They're a sponsor of the show.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: We use them to trade the markets every single day.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And as I look at my T4 software, new crop corn, December contract, man, had a rally overnight at 5.38 and a half.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Soybeans, same thing up overnight at 1275 and a quarter.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Wheat up at Chicago contra Chicago December contract at 770 and a quarter.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Man, great to see an overnight rally.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: It's cool.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: There are opportunities to get into this bull market, and I'll talk about that some more here in a bit.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: But first, let's pop up the weather.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: It has been an abnormally wet August in Nebraska.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: It's the eighth highest on record for the state.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: And more weather is going to be on their future here.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: It's provided a lot of kind of strategic weather for the Row Cops and winter wheat planting there.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: There is some flooding risk, though, for the Dakotas and Nebraska into Minnesota, Iowa, and parts of Wisconsin as we have a ridge rider storm coming through that'll be putting on some rain.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, maybe Kansas, Colorado can sneak in and get some of that.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Well, these are my corn thoughts for today, and with we it has been just absolutely incredible to watch this corn market make the strides it has.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, the fact that we hit 540 dece corn last night is something I did not think we would see when May and June were rolling around, and now we're here.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: We have the opportunity to use risk protection to our advantage so much right now.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: It is a great time to buy puts, set a price floor, and just allow this market.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: If it goes up, you roll your puts down.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: If the market comes down, you protect protect that price before your crop is even harvested.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: I highly recommend talking to your broker, or if you don't have a broker, reach out to us.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Go to www.agbull.com.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: We're more than happy to help you out there.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I'm a licensed Series 3 broker myself.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So's Tommy.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So's Joe.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: We can help you out there.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: It is great to get protection when we have these bull runs like this.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Well, Brazilian beef imports are continue to make headlines on the cattle side of things, and that black line there is 2026, as you can see, starting to come up there.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: On the true social post President Trump made that we're going to import more beef from outside of the United States to increase, you know, the supply to allow ground beef prices to go down.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing that doesn't make sense to me on that whole discussion.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: The timeline doesn't make sense.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: 90 days isn't enough time to, you know, strategically set up a supply chain to get enough ground beef over here to sufficiently make that possible.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Not to mention it's already selling at a discount, and we're gonna say we're gonna sell it below even that.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: A lot of things just aren't clicking here.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I hope we get some sort of you know clarity at some point or response from the White House.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of you know cattle lobbyist groups have been reaching out and writing letters.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I'm sure you've seen those on your Facebooks as well.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: As those things come out, we'll make sure and report them here at Ag Squawk AM.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Well, this is the headline that is making kind of general news waves this morning.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Fed chairman or Fed R Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh delivers the keynote speech today at the central bank's Jackson Hole Wyoming symposium.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Prior central bank leaders have used this event to discuss broad policy initiatives, and there's considerable uncertainty of how ambitious Warsh is going to be.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: You know, this guy, I'll go ahead and pop up his picture, Kevin Warsh to put a face to the name.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: He's kind of been a bulldog, he's been a fighter, and you know, we want to see these rates adjusted.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Interest rates have just been going through the roof.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And, you know, Warsh is a capable guy.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: He knows what he's doing, but markets will be looking for Warsh to lay out conditions under which feds would adjust rates.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So make sure and watch that speech when it comes out today.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: The University of Michigan sentiment comes out at 9 a.m.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Central.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: The only thing on the economic calendar today, stark contrast to previous days this week.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And that's all I have for you today.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Make sure and follow us on our social medias.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: I'll pop that up there.

- 5:41SPEAKER_00: and 8 15 p.m.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: on X, Twitter, whatever you want to call it.

- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Because we try and make it as accessible as possible.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Well, that's all I have for you today.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Hey, if Tommy's speaking today in Michigan, I'm going to be going to the Nebraska State Fair this weekend.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: If you see us, if you're going to be there, let us know.
