- 0:00Speaker 1: Sister, Lisa, thank you for saving us.
- 0:02Speaker 2: You are awesome.
- 0:04Speaker 1: No, thank you. I've been rational but nerdy my whole life,
- 0:08Speaker 1: but these past few weeks you girls made me feel cool.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cool Lisa Simpson, Well, I think you're very interesting girls.
- 0:19Speaker 1: But from now on, the only witch in Lisa's life
- 0:23Speaker 1: is a witchboy will marry her?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Four Finger Discot dude.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Welcome to four Finger Discount, where this week we're going
- 0:46Speaker 4: to be getting out witchcraft on. It is Rednecks and Brusticks.
- 0:48Speaker 4: I am Dander and I.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Am guys, Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble. Indeed, uh yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 2: Rednicks and brimsticks. This feels like an episode that was
- 0:56Speaker 2: very much reverse engineered. I was like, okay, here's a
- 1:00Speaker 2: title that sounds vaguely familiar. It's a play, of course
- 1:03Speaker 2: on the old Disney movie bed Knobs and Broomsticks.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Movie I've never seen bought on Blu ray when they
- 1:07Speaker 4: had a big Disney clearic because it was like Disney
- 1:09Speaker 4: no longer making physical media in Australia won't be available,
- 1:11Speaker 4: so I was like, just clean up, well, you're of
- 1:13Speaker 4: a mine.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It's like these are going to be worth a lot
- 1:15Speaker 2: of money going all in on the things.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Though I do. I always go and buy and things
- 1:21Speaker 4: that mentality alway said Nick, like it'd be worth so
- 1:23Speaker 4: much one day, but then I don't want to ever
- 1:25Speaker 4: sell it. That's the problem. Redict I buy it to
- 1:27Speaker 4: resell and then I can't actually resell. That's a big
- 1:30Speaker 4: book around this room.
- 1:33Speaker 2: But it felt like it was sort of cobbled together
- 1:35Speaker 2: out of various sort of elements. Yeah, I mean, none
- 1:38Speaker 2: of this feels very very cohesive. But it's like, okay,
- 1:40Speaker 2: we've got this title Rednecks and Britain. Okay, well Rednecks.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Who's our resident redneck? We've got cleaners, let's fold him
- 1:46Speaker 2: into a story Broomsticks. What do you associate with Broomstick's housekeeping?
- 1:50Speaker 4: Witches?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Okay? And oh we can to access to Nev Campbell,
- 1:53Speaker 2: who was at one of the stars of the Craft,
- 1:56Speaker 2: which was about witches, and.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Also was she in Charmed.
- 1:58Speaker 2: No, but there was Holly Marie Combs who was basically
- 2:02Speaker 2: the TV version of But first of all, Nev Campbell
- 2:05Speaker 2: was the TV version of Campbell because she was on
- 2:07Speaker 2: Party of Pipe. Yeah. Yeah, it just feels like we've
- 2:10Speaker 2: got all these various elements. Oh, but we better come
- 2:12Speaker 2: up with a story about So. Look, I'm not saying
- 2:16Speaker 2: this was a terrible episode, but it was very much
- 2:19Speaker 2: kind of, to use a phrase that's probably fallen out
- 2:21Speaker 2: of favor with the kids, a bit of a nothing burger.
- 2:24Speaker 4: I've never heard that saying before.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Have you ever heard the saying nothing burger?
- 2:27Speaker 4: No, but I know exactly what it means. It means
- 2:28Speaker 4: it was a whole lot of nothing correct.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Between the taste between two tasty bun Where are you?
- 2:37Speaker 4: I do I? By the end of this one, it
- 2:39Speaker 4: felt very much like a sein Feld episode structure, where
- 2:42Speaker 4: there's these two stories right that they had the joint
- 2:45Speaker 4: sort of beginning with least is in the woods as
- 2:47Speaker 4: a result in Homers meets Clyta says a result being
- 2:49Speaker 4: in the woods, but they have separate stories going and
- 2:51Speaker 4: then by the end they somehow I can bind them together,
- 2:54Speaker 4: which I don't think The Simpsons has really done that
- 2:56Speaker 4: all that often in recent times, where the two stories
- 3:00Speaker 4: don't really have much going on until the end. Yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 4: and I think the ending, I actually thought it was
- 3:05Speaker 4: pretty good the way they sort of tied it together.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I thought, you know what, that's it's a bit ridiculous,
- 3:09Speaker 4: but I didn't see it coming, and I'm at least
- 3:12Speaker 4: appreciate that you made the effort to try and join them.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I did admire that storytelling ingenuity of like, oh, occasionally
- 3:17Speaker 2: which is will strike someone blind. I think it's been
- 3:19Speaker 2: done in other stories. What else sends you black? Oh,
- 3:21Speaker 2: Moonshine will do it, or is renowned to do that,
- 3:23Speaker 2: or has a reputation for doing Did.
- 3:25Speaker 4: You see the ending coming with the Moonshine. I didn't
- 3:26Speaker 4: see it coming.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Actually no, I thought that's a good twist. It's not
- 3:31Speaker 4: a bad twist. Yeah, I wasn't expecting a twist, and
- 3:33Speaker 4: then I got in twist and I went, ah, well,
- 3:35Speaker 4: play like that. But at the same time, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 4: during the whole courtroom shenanigans everything like that, I found
- 3:42Speaker 4: myself sort of like not fading out, but I was like,
- 3:45Speaker 4: what's it out the window there? Oh, that dog's got
- 3:47Speaker 4: a puffy tail, that kind of thing. I was the
- 3:49Speaker 4: opposite because I was like, finally we've got Judge Snyder
- 3:51Speaker 4: and the blue head lawyer back. It felt like the
- 3:53Speaker 4: golden age of the courtroom seats. It's true, just they
- 3:55Speaker 4: did a line of arts.
- 3:59Speaker 2: But even then, you didn't real take that much advantage
- 4:01Speaker 2: of the bluehead lawyer. Judge Nyder had one or two
- 4:03Speaker 2: good lines in there. He had one good line that
- 4:04Speaker 2: probably made it into my favorites.
- 4:06Speaker 4: But Bart came in doing his usual prank stuff.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yes, indeed, and that was associated with that. So we'll
- 4:11Speaker 2: talk about that when we talk about our favorite moments.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But yeah, look, a fine episode. I must admit as
- 4:18Speaker 2: someone who had a little bit of a crush on
- 4:20Speaker 2: the f Campbell back in the day, I was like,
- 4:21Speaker 2: I bet we all kind of did. Yeah, we who
- 4:25Speaker 2: can tell? It seems dreadful to say this because it
- 4:28Speaker 2: seems condescending and also kind of objectifying, but she seemed approachable.
- 4:32Speaker 4: She's in which horror France, She's.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Scream Scream, Yeah, and back in Scream now because that
- 4:38Speaker 2: made like the seventh Yeah, it's like, holy moly.
- 4:40Speaker 4: She was like perfect for that role to in Scream.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Very girl next door. Yeah yeah, kind of like.
- 4:45Speaker 4: But also you believe that she could hold her own
- 4:48Speaker 4: as well. Oh yeah, even though she's she's tiny, but
- 4:51Speaker 4: you still feel like, you know, she wouldn't go down
- 4:52Speaker 4: with that a fight. Yeah, a scrapper.
- 4:55Speaker 2: That's a good way of putting it. Yeah, it's incredible
- 4:57Speaker 2: that Scream is now up to its seventh installment. Well played,
- 5:00Speaker 2: Scream one's great. Oh.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I remember watching Scream on for the first time, and
- 5:04Speaker 4: I was obviously a lot younger than you, so I
- 5:06Speaker 4: wasn't watching it through a critic's eyes. Scared the shit
- 5:08Speaker 4: out of me, and it just cos Yeah, but it
- 5:10Speaker 4: just felt like watching for the first time. I went, oh,
- 5:12Speaker 4: we're getting our own Jason Vorhes and it felt cool
- 5:15Speaker 4: to finally get our own villain.
- 5:16Speaker 2: That's true. Yeah, I mean I think I mentioned recently
- 5:19Speaker 2: about that Fanta ad with all the horror quote unquote icons,
- 5:23Speaker 2: it's like, well, Chucky's kind of iconic. But yeah, I
- 5:25Speaker 2: don't know about the Freddy Fasber from Five Nights Free,
- 5:28Speaker 2: but that's or the Megan Dole or something. I know
- 5:31Speaker 2: it's what the kids are into. Absolutely, but yeah, ghost
- 5:33Speaker 2: Face from Scream feels like the real last kind of
- 5:37Speaker 2: horror icon. In the Michael Myers jason Ville he's Freddy
- 5:40Speaker 2: krueger Vein. Yeah, but yeah, I mean I know that. Sorry,
- 5:44Speaker 2: we're talking more about Scream than we were about bed
- 5:47Speaker 2: knobs red Knobs. This episode took a turn about rednecks
- 5:53Speaker 2: and Broomsticks. But you know, they had four movies that
- 5:56Speaker 2: had Nevcamble and that involved in the sort of the
- 5:58Speaker 2: core cast. And then it's like, well, let's reboot it
- 6:00Speaker 2: with the with the modern kids, and now it's.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Left of Courtney Cocks.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, which is back in this one. Yeah, and yeah
- 6:07Speaker 2: Neb's back as well, and we'll see how it goes.
- 6:09Speaker 4: I don't they rebooted I know what he did last summer.
- 6:12Speaker 4: I was flicking through Street Service the other day and
- 6:13Speaker 4: I was like, hang on, that's got two of the cast,
- 6:17Speaker 4: Sir Michael Gallop, What the hell going on here? There's
- 6:19Speaker 4: a reboot? Yeah?
- 6:21Speaker 2: When did this happened? Came out earlier this year? I
- 6:24Speaker 2: think I had no idea, no idea. Well, it's confusing though,
- 6:28Speaker 2: because I made they made like a Scream TV series
- 6:32Speaker 2: and also, I know what you did last summer TV series?
- 6:35Speaker 2: Really well? Yeah, I think they went like a season
- 6:39Speaker 2: each or something. So yeah, it's like, oh God, is
- 6:42Speaker 2: there too much law? Is it too much mythology? When
- 6:44Speaker 2: you're try and catch up with this ship? Uh, Screams
- 6:47Speaker 2: doing a legacy sequel, so I may well check that one.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I see, I know what he did last summer guy
- 6:51Speaker 4: called is he just called hooked man? I think fisherman Fisherman?
- 6:53Speaker 4: Is he Fisherman cloak?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Dude?
- 6:56Speaker 4: I don't never never scared me as much as ghost
- 6:58Speaker 4: Face that guy. Oh no, it's too wedding where ghost
- 7:02Speaker 4: Face was.
- 7:02Speaker 2: This crazy plus spoiler a scream there were two. I
- 7:09Speaker 2: really liked the original screen that was very well directed.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I thought it was pretty well written. A lot of
- 7:14Speaker 2: the acting and it's just garbage that's really good.
- 7:17Speaker 4: But that's horror movies though.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah, true, but this is this isn't so much bad
- 7:21Speaker 2: acting as is like bad overacting.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Are you always going about the Jamie Kennedy's explanation.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Scene that in Scream two that stucks? In Scream one?
- 7:30Speaker 2: It's Matthew Lillard And everyone loves Matthew Lillard.
- 7:32Speaker 4: These days because like it's shaggy Shaggy.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Everyone loves shaking, and.
- 7:35Speaker 4: He was a fantastic shaggy.
- 7:36Speaker 2: He was a very good shaggy. Look at in Screen one,
- 7:38Speaker 2: it's like, I fucking hate you, man.
- 7:41Speaker 4: That's why when it was I was like, how is
- 7:43Speaker 4: this the same dude?
- 7:44Speaker 2: Correct? Yeah, hey, we now return you to red necks
- 7:47Speaker 2: and brunistics already in progress, red knobs red that's that's
- 7:53Speaker 2: for patrons. Yeah, or did you think of that? The
- 7:57Speaker 2: Cleita's putting Cletter's not necessarily center, but putting Cletus and.
- 8:01Speaker 4: His cohort as a I was stressing in the first
- 8:04Speaker 4: five minutes, I thought, oh no, a whole episode of this.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I was like, this is a whole lot of cle
- 8:09Speaker 2: I was like, and then I put thirty seconds in.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, I don't think they went too hard.
- 8:17Speaker 4: They din't double down on the Kletus's dumb gags. If anything,
- 8:20Speaker 4: they tried to make Hillbilly Is less dumb in this one,
- 8:22Speaker 4: because when it had Mo rock Up with the Deliverance
- 8:24Speaker 4: mentioned yeah, what do you think all the spaces Star Wars,
- 8:26Speaker 4: And I was like, oh, well, at least they're not
- 8:28Speaker 4: I mean, they're not smart.
- 8:29Speaker 2: No, but I think they were trying to do a
- 8:31Speaker 2: bit of that whole redneck poetry thing that you'll occasionally find,
- 8:34Speaker 2: you know, and in certain strands of like American literature
- 8:38Speaker 2: and movie making, it's like, yeah, there's a rich Veinus
- 8:41Speaker 2: sort of yeah, weird poetry in the in these kinds
- 8:45Speaker 2: of hillbillies and rednecks and that kind of stuff. They
- 8:47Speaker 2: got their own way of doing things, and it's pixies,
- 8:50Speaker 2: Like like the pixies you're talking about.
- 8:51Speaker 4: It isn't snatches and about pixies who just live in
- 8:54Speaker 4: their own shafty towns.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Are pixies you mean gypsies? Gypsies.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Gypsy is fucking pixies. Gypsies, Dad brain, that's staying like gypsies.
- 9:04Speaker 4: They have their own shaddy towns based correct.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, and yeah, their own mythology and their own
- 9:08Speaker 2: language and their own ways of doing things. I'm sorry
- 9:10Speaker 2: that makes them say like not human. They are indeed
- 9:13Speaker 2: human apparently, but yeah, I mean, I must admit when
- 9:19Speaker 2: I saw that this was a Cleatis heavy episode, I
- 9:22Speaker 2: was like, that is always death.
- 9:24Speaker 4: But this is in the main picture on the Wikipedia page.
- 9:26Speaker 4: I go, oh, I will say, they kind of and
- 9:31Speaker 4: not that it really played to much into the episode.
- 9:33Speaker 4: But have we already had yocal chords where Lisa basically
- 9:36Speaker 4: helped the kids with their singing cry or whatever. Yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 4: there was no sort of acknowledgment of that, correct.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah. And I know our good friend friend of the
- 9:45Speaker 2: pod Matt Selman, is always like, ah, canon, forget about it,
- 9:49Speaker 2: but come my big deal here a little bit of
- 9:50Speaker 2: continue what we saying the other day. Was it in
- 9:54Speaker 2: our individual with Josh.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Who's the keeper of the law, that we'll talk at Cavali, Yeah, yeah,
- 10:02Speaker 4: but that was gone.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah he had here.
- 10:06Speaker 4: They kept his number deleted.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Exproducer.
- 10:13Speaker 4: They moved the studio like one block down.
- 10:17Speaker 2: But yeah, I must admit I was, yeah, not unhappy
- 10:22Speaker 2: with the with the use of Kletis and shall we say,
- 10:25Speaker 2: the backwoods community in this episode. Yeah, they didn't really
- 10:31Speaker 2: do a whole lot with it, but they didn't do
- 10:32Speaker 2: a lot of bad with.
- 10:33Speaker 4: It either, And I can believe that they would buy
- 10:36Speaker 4: into home of being like the connoisseur of moonshine, like
- 10:38Speaker 4: they want to be read.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know. I think I find
- 10:43Speaker 2: myself saying this a bit about recent episodes, and I shouldn't.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I hate to be the person who brings up problems
- 10:48Speaker 2: without bringing up solutions. All occasionally, we'll fix them. But
- 10:51Speaker 2: like Homer likes to drink, Yeah, this is this is
- 10:56Speaker 2: a good This is good connective tissue between him and
- 10:58Speaker 2: Kletus and Kleidus's cohort that they bond over alcohol. So
- 11:05Speaker 2: I think they did an okay job with it. I
- 11:07Speaker 2: wish they'd sort of done more with it, but I'm
- 11:08Speaker 2: not exactly sure what that would have been.
- 11:10Speaker 4: It wasn't just home and going, I love your hillbilly
- 11:12Speaker 4: way of life. I become a hill billy now, No,
- 11:14Speaker 4: he likes alcohol. Yeah, actually makes sense.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it would have been like, okay, straight off the
- 11:20Speaker 2: top of the dome sort of, Homers sort of senses
- 11:23Speaker 2: aside hustle in like pedaling moonshine to like mows or something.
- 11:26Speaker 2: It's like, let's let's make moonshine mainstream. Yeah, like, well,
- 11:30Speaker 2: actually I think they all.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Homer starts making his own moonshine on the side, it
- 11:33Speaker 4: doesn't Oh that's yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 2: And becomes a bit of a rivalry. Yeah yeah, because
- 11:37Speaker 2: oh that's because there's a long history about sort of
- 11:39Speaker 2: like you know, rival moonshine is like wars between them essentially.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Oh that'd be good. Yeah, yeah, but he's doing like
- 11:47Speaker 2: respectable moonshine, suburban moonshine of able and stare get to
- 11:53Speaker 2: sell sell it the QUICKI mart or sell it at
- 11:55Speaker 2: mos or something, and yeah, yeah, there's something to work
- 11:58Speaker 2: with there, there's something to work with. What do you think, folks?
- 12:02Speaker 4: My favorite given you favorite moments from the episode.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Look, I've only highlighted a few or a couple of
- 12:09Speaker 2: these joke's kind of in bad taste. But I thought
- 12:12Speaker 2: it was pretty funny that when Mo show's up and
- 12:15Speaker 2: he's trying to get you know, Lenny and Carl and
- 12:17Speaker 2: Homer back to Moe's bar, he's got his dual shotguns
- 12:20Speaker 2: and that, and then the redneck show up and oh, well,
- 12:25Speaker 2: I guess it's Deliverance time. I guess you know you're
- 12:27Speaker 2: gonna bend me over, have you away with me or whatever?
- 12:29Speaker 2: And they're like, that's a terrible stereotype. Why do you
- 12:33Speaker 2: think we did one guy does it in Deliverance. I
- 12:35Speaker 2: thought we had a connection here. I'm not gonna beg
- 12:38Speaker 2: for it. I thought that was pretty funny. I'm a
- 12:42Speaker 2: fan of a good needle drop. They're not really I
- 12:43Speaker 2: don't know if they've dug into the you know, they're
- 12:46Speaker 2: broken out the wallet for so many you know, soundtrack
- 12:49Speaker 2: cues this time around. But season of the.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Witch season you mean, yeah, yeah, yeah, but they did
- 12:53Speaker 4: a couple of seasons ago.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, But recently it felt like we haven't hearing
- 12:57Speaker 2: as many sort of bangers as we used to.
- 12:58Speaker 4: But that's at the end, was said doing their ice skatting.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Certified Danger Donovan's season of the Witch Good.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Song, And apparently that scene is taken from a film
- 13:06Speaker 4: as well.
- 13:07Speaker 2: It is. Yeah, that's sort of a bit of an
- 13:09Speaker 2: oblique reference to a movie called to Die For. Okay,
- 13:12Speaker 2: starring Australia's own Nicole Kidman. Really, I won't blow what
- 13:15Speaker 2: it's about, because you should watch to Die For. It's
- 13:17Speaker 2: actually pretty good early role for Joaquin Phoenix, directed by
- 13:21Speaker 2: the great gas Band sand of Goodwill Hunting Fame.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yeah, check it out to Die For, to Die For.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I wanted the thrown the reference in there for the kids.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Kids have no idea it's going on with the kids
- 13:31Speaker 4: would know idea when they get older and go, hey,
- 13:33Speaker 4: it's that thing from that thing.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Well, if they've got a nerdy uncle, I got that's
- 13:39Speaker 2: from the movie today for if eding guest Ben Sanda
- 13:41Speaker 2: now a little in the Criterion connection, Mummy's doing it again.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Just go, really, my uncle, why is he here?
- 13:50Speaker 4: You don't have an ncle guy? Who is this person.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Sleeping on our cat? But yeah, that's a that is
- 13:58Speaker 2: indeed a reference a few a few fs in here.
- 14:00Speaker 2: But we'll get to that. As we go through the episode.
- 14:03Speaker 4: I leaned the mole mane gig. It felt absurdly dark.
- 14:05Speaker 4: That look, it's very swartzwelderess gag his.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Own operation on himself, your own surgery and save. That's
- 14:12Speaker 2: what I've got. Did you learn?
- 14:13Speaker 4: Yeah, for the moment bit I liked they were taking
- 14:15Speaker 4: the witches out to do their own version of a
- 14:17Speaker 4: of a trial. And here the gunshot and it's just
- 14:19Speaker 4: trying to shoot the fly on the roots. You think
- 14:21Speaker 4: he's trying to stop the mobody, it's not. And I like,
- 14:23Speaker 4: just at the start here a simple homer. So they
- 14:25Speaker 4: he smashes the bonket thing because these things are incredibly annoying.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Why do my actions always have consequences? But just the
- 14:32Speaker 4: gig of that, the other dad throwing it out of
- 14:34Speaker 4: his cart into.
- 14:34Speaker 2: The car, that's a good it's a good little reversal.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I did write down here do the Dando kids have
- 14:39Speaker 2: a bonket or a version thereof they have or it
- 14:43Speaker 2: is a baby shark.
- 14:44Speaker 4: No, no, no, so they they don't have bonket things, right,
- 14:47Speaker 4: but they have these devices where has like red, green, yellow,
- 14:50Speaker 4: blue or whatever and it's blue lights up. You gonna
- 14:52Speaker 4: push blue then it's blue yellow blue. You're going to
- 14:54Speaker 4: follow the sequence?
- 14:55Speaker 2: Well, that's sign that. Have you ever heard of that?
- 14:58Speaker 2: Have you ever heard of simon? I know?
- 14:59Speaker 4: He says, yeah, different thing altogether. This s felt.
- 15:03Speaker 2: This was incredibly ingenious when I this is when I
- 15:06Speaker 2: was a kid. It was like a circle that had
- 15:09Speaker 2: four big buttons on it in different color. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 2: and yeah yeah, and it's basically a memory test. Yeah. Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 2: it's like blue, blue, green, blue, green, yellow, Yeah, and yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 2: how fuck can you get sort of out trying to
- 15:24Speaker 2: out smart signment? Wow, they just took and put a clock.
- 15:27Speaker 4: In it probably probably haven't changed.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's probably the exact same to it, but it makes
- 15:31Speaker 2: that beep beep noise. Yeah, and you're hearing that and
- 15:33Speaker 2: going time to lose the batteries, Yes, exactly.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Next question you there eating the paste trivia time. My
- 15:41Speaker 4: first question for you is, what are besides fire and police,
- 15:45Speaker 4: what are the things on Flanders speed Dial? Oh there's
- 15:50Speaker 4: four others. Yeah, I did see this. One of them
- 15:53Speaker 4: is the witchcrafts yes on whatever.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Damn it. And there was one above it that I
- 15:56Speaker 2: thought that's actually not that's kind of funny, and that.
- 15:59Speaker 4: One is nips slip hoopline.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Correct, I don't remember any of.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It's just love Joy home Love Joy alter ha.
- 16:08Speaker 2: What is the straight shot freeway that will take the
- 16:12Speaker 2: Simpsons home from this from their holiday? It is the
- 16:16Speaker 2: two five.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Wow, my memory is working, Simon. What is the name
- 16:22Speaker 4: of Cleadas's distillery?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Oh?
- 16:25Speaker 4: I feel like he's mentioned it before. This name, I've
- 16:28Speaker 4: definitely heard him say it before. I'm sorry, it's all
- 16:30Speaker 4: something Ohn forgot. Oh, Betsy, Yeah, but I need to
- 16:34Speaker 4: Simon because my memory is ship. Speaking of moonshine, Kleidis
- 16:38Speaker 4: talks about sort of corporate moonshine. Who is the maker
- 16:41Speaker 4: of Demento Juice? Oh, no idea, It's Dwayne Saggery, Dwayne Sagary.
- 16:45Speaker 4: My final question for you is another name one. What
- 16:48Speaker 4: is the real name of Gwendolen Nightshadow? Oh? God, damn
- 16:53Speaker 4: it no, Stacy death Satan.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Just stop listening. But because that's actually not a bit gag.
- 17:01Speaker 2: My last question for you, because I only have three,
- 17:06Speaker 2: it's the bit. Do you like the bit? What do
- 17:10Speaker 2: you think of the bit? What are the notes that
- 17:12Speaker 2: Homer finds in clude? This is latest batch notes?
- 17:16Speaker 4: What's in it? Yes, it's got poison oak?
- 17:19Speaker 2: Correct?
- 17:19Speaker 4: Yes, no, no, he's oak, poison oak. It's like a game.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Hints of game, hints of game. The other I can't
- 17:27Speaker 4: remember with the.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Rest elderberry and tobacco and tobacco.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Correct.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I think we've spoken about this, ba. I'm always in
- 17:33Speaker 2: awe of people who are kind of like, I have
- 17:35Speaker 2: hints of raspberry and the charades like tasty, Yeah, I did,
- 17:40Speaker 2: I have? I just you know, and getting it right
- 17:42Speaker 2: that's the thing. Yeah, yeah, Do you then eat a
- 17:47Speaker 2: raspberry and go wait a minute, this taste familiar.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Nicholas fit. There's hints of garlic and onion in this,
- 17:55Speaker 4: there's hints of salt. Every good meal starts a garlic
- 17:57Speaker 4: and onion, in my opinion.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, yeah. Everyone knows my million dollar idea. Yes,
- 18:02Speaker 2: the candles, Yeah, the candle that smells like saute, onion
- 18:04Speaker 2: and gum.
- 18:05Speaker 4: I've said this, Nick Nicholas like, that's not a bad idea.
- 18:10Speaker 2: That does worth something.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Who wouldn't want to walk into a house that's smelled
- 18:13Speaker 4: like fresh cooking.
- 18:14Speaker 2: It's a very much bachelor's candle.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I feel like though it would entice you to begin cooking, though,
- 18:20Speaker 4: if you wan't not like to cook, if your candles
- 18:22Speaker 4: smelled like saude, garlic and onions. You'd be like, that's
- 18:25Speaker 4: I'll be hungry now, that's right, get it for your lady,
- 18:28Speaker 4: have to cook it.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Perfect for the kids. That was a joke.
- 18:44Speaker 4: All right, there's time for some stone kind of shadow,
- 18:46Speaker 4: starting with Katy G with her one hundred dollar support.

- 18:51Speaker 2: there's not much more to say other than well, I
- 18:53Speaker 2: mean we can say thank you very much, we'd say

- 19:16Speaker 2: it wasn't last episode like Christmasy, but this now, this
- 19:19Speaker 2: is Thanksgiving.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Him but this one actually aired Thanksgiving. That's why it's like, well,
- 19:23Speaker 4: why the last one ever? Christmas one?

- 20:35Speaker 4: our review of Rednecks and Broomstick's divisional edit of this
- 20:38Speaker 4: episode was November twenty ninth, two thousand and nine. You'll
- 20:41Speaker 4: be interested, maybe to know that the top three films
- 20:43Speaker 4: that US box office at this time have not changed
- 20:45Speaker 4: from last week. They are the exact same films in
- 20:47Speaker 4: the exact same position. So we have Twilight, Saga, New
- 20:50Speaker 4: Moon in first position. Still, we have The blind Sided
- 20:52Speaker 4: number two, and twenty twelve is still in number three.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Well down those three films. Yeah, indeed, there was no
- 20:58Speaker 2: beating Twilight at the stage of the game.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Thing really worth revisiting, there would be the blind Side.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Right Visit twenty twelve.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never watched it. I think you told me.
- 21:05Speaker 2: It's like it's kind of fun. Yeah, Cusack Cusack Woody Harrelson,
- 21:10Speaker 2: the Great chee Any Glover as the President.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Harrison's had a very interesting career. He's just sort of
- 21:17Speaker 4: he's never been the top billing star in my opinion, Harrelson,
- 21:21Speaker 4: but he's just He's a face you're always happy to
- 21:23Speaker 4: see on screen.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, Yah, yeah if I when my acting career
- 21:27Speaker 2: takes off, it will happen any d now, kids, that's the
- 21:30Speaker 2: kind of career. R. Why don't you say, I mean
- 21:33Speaker 2: well known, beloved, no one's no one's ever unhappy to see.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Woody Harrelson usually delivers yeah and yeah, good across all genres.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Has been good in dramas, has been good in comedy,
- 21:44Speaker 2: non bad in action movies.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Were you recently watched for the first time? Anger Management?
- 21:50Speaker 4: He plays a little bit roll with it.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Came on it.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, as a as a prostitute, wow, as I don't
- 21:57Speaker 4: know the correct term is now, but it's a gud
- 21:58Speaker 4: dressing up as pretend to be a woman.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Well we used to say transvested. Now now I think
- 22:02Speaker 2: just transgender is the umbrella turn.
- 22:05Speaker 4: But he plays that role for trying.
- 22:07Speaker 2: It's a weird movie.
- 22:09Speaker 4: I don't think I liked it. Okay, that's the one
- 22:11Speaker 4: with Nick Sandler. I'm just going this like this should
- 22:16Speaker 4: be better. I'm going just just feels very first draft
- 22:19Speaker 4: A lot of this. Yeah, I was very just I
- 22:21Speaker 4: was kind of disappointed. I got to got two thirds
- 22:23Speaker 4: of a way through to Nickolas, like, isn't he good?
- 22:25Speaker 4: She's like, I don't think it is. It's just we
- 22:27Speaker 4: were so far into all, like, let's just finish it.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah. It's always interesting, that, isn't it when you turn
- 22:32Speaker 2: your significant others like if there's all that good? No
- 22:34Speaker 2: it's not.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll just must watch the end of it now.
- 22:38Speaker 4: And yeah, I know it's like Nicholson and Sanley, you
- 22:39Speaker 4: feel like it should work.
- 22:40Speaker 2: And also yeah, like yeah, Sandler's he's a milemount of guy,
- 22:44Speaker 2: but he's got anger under the service. Oh you know,
- 22:47Speaker 2: you need to bring it out and we all love
- 22:48Speaker 2: to see the Sandman go explode. Yeah, it was just work.
- 22:54Speaker 4: I will never revisit it. It was just there.
- 22:55Speaker 2: The movies are just there. Yeah. Twenty twelve, Yeah, I checked.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I'd check that one out.
- 22:59Speaker 4: But written by Kevin Curran the late great Kevin Current
- 23:01Speaker 4: and directed by Bob Edison and Rob Oliver. Production code
- 23:04Speaker 4: La b F y nine Football Gag Teachers. Unions are
- 23:07Speaker 4: not ruining this country and the catch egg was when
- 23:09Speaker 4: you're saying earlier with the family gathers around dinner table
- 23:11Speaker 4: for Thanksgiving meal, but soon they gather their plates and
- 23:13Speaker 4: head for the catch where they watch a football game
- 23:15Speaker 4: on TV.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I love that tradition.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's like we go lunch and we're gonna
- 23:19Speaker 4: watch the football game and everyone's watched us.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Like that's awesome. H And by the way, the sign
- 23:27Speaker 2: it is Springfield Retirement Castle featuring Grandpa Simpson. The logo
- 23:32Speaker 2: is get me out of here. Oh nice, you could
- 23:35Speaker 2: have done a little more with that.
- 23:36Speaker 4: I believe that whenever he get me out of here,
- 23:38Speaker 4: I think of Happy Gilmore. You know that, mister mister
- 23:42Speaker 4: grab me out of here. So the kick the episode
- 23:46Speaker 4: kicks off with the family driving home from a ski weekend.
- 23:49Speaker 4: We know nothing about it, Like they drive past the
- 23:51Speaker 4: snowed in.
- 23:52Speaker 2: That was not bad. By the way, the Simpsons going
- 23:54Speaker 2: to afford a ski weekend.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean have been on very ski weekends, I guess. So. Yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 4: that's where stuper sexy Flanners comes from.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Correct.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think it's a fancy place. I think
- 24:04Speaker 4: it's just mountain.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think even you know, average skiing has
- 24:09Speaker 2: kind of out of reach for the every day, every
- 24:11Speaker 2: day Joe. Now, I was being so expensive for every
- 24:15Speaker 2: so for everybody, so did I. But everything is surrounding.
- 24:18Speaker 2: It's the ship that you put on your body, the
- 24:21Speaker 2: chair lip you're right to get at the top of
- 24:22Speaker 2: the mountain, the skis you put on your feet.
- 24:24Speaker 4: That's why ho it doesn't have a dance class anymore
- 24:25Speaker 4: because she's not really that interested anymore. She's finished it.
- 24:27Speaker 4: But it was Yeah, she like dance, Yeah, but she
- 24:32Speaker 4: is no good but she uh, you know, dancing should
- 24:36Speaker 4: just be you. You go into the room in your
- 24:37Speaker 4: dance and get by the right shoes, the right alf is,
- 24:39Speaker 4: the right makeup, the right hair, the right this, the
- 24:41Speaker 4: right that. Oh you're gonna get photos taken, Yes, they're
- 24:43Speaker 4: free to get taken, but it's gonna cost fifty bucks
- 24:45Speaker 4: per photo. I'm just like this' sh it's just too expensive.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's like a pyramid scheme.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Oh no, we're go another episode of Ship's Fucked mate.
- 24:52Speaker 2: But yeah, we're getting priced out of everything. Yeah, and
- 24:55Speaker 2: and the stuff that used to be just kind of
- 24:57Speaker 2: you know, a fun communal activity.
- 24:58Speaker 4: But you'll never be priced out of our paige. So
- 25:00Speaker 4: make sure you subscribe. Absolutely.
- 25:03Speaker 2: That was that was pretty good.
- 25:04Speaker 4: That was a good salesmanship. Little is one dollar per month.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Subscribes a perfect Christmas present for your pal's going down there,
- 25:10Speaker 4: but maybe do you the third. But they are living
- 25:13Speaker 4: early to try and beat the traffic, which is a
- 25:14Speaker 4: good thing to do. I always try and do it,
- 25:17Speaker 4: but everyone had that idea as well. Highway is just
- 25:19Speaker 4: filled for the people. Then they're using the bunket toy
- 25:22Speaker 4: in the back of the kids to kill some time,
- 25:23Speaker 4: which is just insanely annoying, as you can imagine. Homer
- 25:26Speaker 4: throws it out the window, gets smashed in the car
- 25:27Speaker 4: that's driving past. But then the dad inside that car
- 25:30Speaker 4: is also annoyed by his kids pay with the bunket,
- 25:32Speaker 4: so he throws that one out the window back into
- 25:33Speaker 4: the Simpsons car and they're off to the races once again.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Indeed, bunk it, twist it, smack it, bunk it well,
- 25:39Speaker 2: twist it twisted, smackkets. Oh damn, the batteries are dead.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Not to worry.
- 25:47Speaker 2: It plugs into the cigarette ladder. Bunk bunk, bunk it twisted,
- 25:51Speaker 2: smack it thwack and crack it, bunk it, bobbing.
- 25:55Speaker 3: It finely.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Some peace and quiet? Why do my actions have consequences?
- 26:11Speaker 4: And then the accident nearly drives into a truck, but
- 26:13Speaker 4: Unfortunately you can't use a break now because the smashed
- 26:15Speaker 4: up pieces underneath the brake. So it says, why why
- 26:17Speaker 4: do my actions always have consequences? They drive off a
- 26:20Speaker 4: cliff and then unfortunately they hit poor Bambi.
- 26:23Speaker 2: They do. Yes, it's a yeah. Basically you shot for
- 26:26Speaker 2: shot a reprise of the scene from Bambie where little
- 26:29Speaker 2: Bambies find it bamby hey orshe hey, hey, Oh that's right,
- 26:34Speaker 2: because they shoot Bambi's mother. Yeah, yeah, bamber so this
- 26:36Speaker 2: will be.
- 26:36Speaker 4: A girl and shoot his mother.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It's not gender specific. I'm just thinking Bambi is not
- 26:42Speaker 2: the most masculine name, even for a beautiful deer.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Well, the kids rewatched Bambi recently and I hadn't rewatched
- 26:48Speaker 4: themselves with a little kid, and I was like, oh,
- 26:51Speaker 4: that's right. It doesn't end here, like he goes up
- 26:53Speaker 4: to be a giant, big buck. And I'm like, oh,
- 26:56Speaker 4: I must have just like turn them on. Just that
- 26:57Speaker 4: part of me just completely forgot. It'll always just been
- 26:59Speaker 4: it was as Bambi was, the little little No, he
- 27:02Speaker 4: grows up to be like a buck without it, He
- 27:04Speaker 4: like the hunters that killed his mother. He's getting revenge
- 27:06Speaker 4: and I was like, I completely blake this part out
- 27:08Speaker 4: of my memory.
- 27:09Speaker 2: That sounds pretty dope. At the same time, it's not like,
- 27:13Speaker 2: oh shit, here comes Bamby. There's not distilling fear in my.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Heart or Thumper Umber's the rabbit. Well, yeah, I know
- 27:21Speaker 4: Thumper is Okay, I.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Know who Thumper is. Man anyway, Yeah, but they are
- 27:26Speaker 2: only on the frozen lake.
- 27:28Speaker 4: And I'm not sure in Golden Near a Simpsons whether
- 27:31Speaker 4: they would have hit Bamby here, because when Baby was there,
- 27:33Speaker 4: I was like, all, where they're going to go. They're
- 27:34Speaker 4: gonna scare Baby, They're going to hit Bambi, and they
- 27:36Speaker 4: absolutely just take Bamby out.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I'm starting to see a little bit of family game
- 27:41Speaker 2: that one's really creeping in. And there's there's a real
- 27:44Speaker 2: hardcore example of that later on, which we'll talk about
- 27:47Speaker 2: when we help.
- 27:47Speaker 4: All Right, so they fit Bamby. They end up on
- 27:49Speaker 4: the ice and Homer says, here forgive me, forgive my ignorance.
- 27:53Speaker 4: He says, we're about to get really cold and then
- 27:55Speaker 4: really warm. What does he mean by really warm? This
- 27:57Speaker 4: is apparently what happens with hyperthermia. Oh yeah, you get
- 28:01Speaker 4: really cold to begin when you kind of just sort of.
- 28:03Speaker 4: I don't know, your body goes into some weird kind
- 28:05Speaker 4: of shut down. Yeah, yeah, where you actually feel warm.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Your body does feel warm, but it's still your organs
- 28:12Speaker 2: are shutting down and all that kind of. Yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 4: It's funny because when you get cold, your body is
- 28:16Speaker 4: actually really hot, but you're you feel cold.
- 28:18Speaker 2: That's great.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Yeah, that is that what I'm saying. So you know,
- 28:22Speaker 4: so would you feel warm or would your body just
- 28:23Speaker 4: be warm because when you're when you're shivering, body is
- 28:27Speaker 4: actually hot.
- 28:28Speaker 2: That's the thing. I don't know if you'd be warm,
- 28:30Speaker 2: but you said I think you'd feel warm. Okay, I'm
- 28:32Speaker 2: not a doctor. Man.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Somebody saves something I don't know who it is just
- 28:35Speaker 4: yet before the cast sings into the ice water and
- 28:37Speaker 4: then it's just immediately revealed as clitus. All they wake
- 28:40Speaker 4: up and Clartus is shack anyway, and they give them
- 28:42Speaker 4: some soup that has possum in it. Towards possum yep,
- 28:45Speaker 4: Clitison gives some hooch like the term hooch. Given the
- 28:48Speaker 4: hooch to Homer to try it out. Good dog name,
- 28:52Speaker 4: Yes it is, yet I see why do the dog
- 28:55Speaker 4: always have to die? In dog movies.
- 28:57Speaker 2: I'm a turner hooch.
- 28:58Speaker 4: I was like, what do you have to die?
- 28:59Speaker 2: Well, you were aware that there were competing police dog
- 29:03Speaker 2: movies at the time. I believe K nine survived to
- 29:06Speaker 2: the end.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Okay, I'll put that one on the there, Alice.
- 29:10Speaker 2: If you want the modern version of these, by the way,
- 29:12Speaker 2: it's me no, no, no no, the cop films, yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 2: cop dog movies. The great actor Aaron Eirkhart, who we
- 29:18Speaker 2: all thought was going to be the next Robert Redford
- 29:20Speaker 2: right now, he's just in all these B action movies.
- 29:22Speaker 2: What happened to him? I have no idea. My mate
- 29:26Speaker 2: Will Aaron Aircutt, made a horror move horror action movie
- 29:30Speaker 2: called I Frankenstein in Melbourne, and my mate Will was
- 29:33Speaker 2: working as a He was a photographer on the set
- 29:36Speaker 2: and it was just the coolest guy. And he was
- 29:38Speaker 2: not like doing push ups between scenes and everything that
- 29:40Speaker 2: Sorting himself worked up with, but just the coolest guy.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Just these B movies. But he's in one called Muzzle
- 29:45Speaker 2: where he's like this hard bitten cop and he's got
- 29:48Speaker 2: like this police dog, like German shepherd that's got PTSD
- 29:51Speaker 2: or something. But they just turned out to be the
- 29:52Speaker 2: Ultimate Crime Farting Team, and they just made a sequel
- 29:54Speaker 2: Muscled Muzzle. Yeah, Muscle, I'm gonna have to check this
- 29:57Speaker 2: out absolutely well. The fact there's a sequel means Muzle
- 29:59Speaker 2: must survive. So all had puppets.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Who know.
- 30:04Speaker 2: What's that movie?
- 30:04Speaker 4: The White Dog? He always say his name. It's a
- 30:08Speaker 4: comedy oddball there it.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Is what's talked about ball in a very long time.
- 30:16Speaker 2: But hooch.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Yeah, Homer is revived with a bit of hooch. But
- 30:19Speaker 4: what the gangy though? Where he says he thinks it's fake.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Excuse my faux part.
- 30:22Speaker 2: That was fau part.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Then they take out the bazooka and then he shows
- 30:27Speaker 4: him Old Betsy and he says he's gonna try it
- 30:30Speaker 4: the hooch with the other hill billy. So yeah, he
- 30:31Speaker 4: tries it out, but the hooch makes one of the
- 30:34Speaker 4: hill billies remember his feed with the tree. And I
- 30:36Speaker 4: was like, oh, there's gonna be a whole episode of
- 30:38Speaker 4: just this. Yes, that's the thing I thought. But no,
- 30:41Speaker 4: that's pretty much the last dumb gag, isn't it They have? Yeah,
- 30:47Speaker 4: this certainly has notes of hillbilly all through about. But yeah,
- 30:50Speaker 4: I mean, hint hint he'll Billy. But yeah, I mean
- 30:53Speaker 4: I think that's the most part. That's the last time
- 30:55Speaker 4: they get really dumb with it. You might be right, Yeah, yeah,
- 30:58Speaker 4: But Homer becomes a kind of Sui the com city
- 31:00Speaker 4: boy Homer and knows the recipe. You can tell just
- 31:01Speaker 4: by tasting it. Well, it's a rich match based with
- 31:04Speaker 4: a sense of danger.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I liked.
- 31:07Speaker 4: But then tries out the boom potatoes that branding brought
- 31:10Speaker 4: back from the ark on the War.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Well, they don't have video games.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Yeah, they tried it on the on the Snowman with
- 31:14Speaker 4: kids like that, like bowling. They're doing strikes and whatnot.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Then Lisa is playing hide and seek with the other kids.
- 31:20Speaker 4: I think this is the main kids from Yocal Chords.
- 31:21Speaker 4: The girl can't remember her name, but they can't.
- 31:24Speaker 2: They don't remember Lisa, and Lisa doesn't remember then.
- 31:26Speaker 4: But there's no sort of I wouldn't say Lisa doesn't
- 31:28Speaker 4: remember them. They're playing hide and seek. They never once
- 31:31Speaker 4: say who are you? So maybe they do just know
- 31:32Speaker 4: each other and just playing, you know, But they can't
- 31:35Speaker 4: count to one hundred, so that Lisa is hiding for
- 31:37Speaker 4: no reason because they're never going to come and find her.
- 31:38Speaker 2: They do well untill about well they get one and
- 31:41Speaker 2: two right, and then it's all shapes and.
- 31:42Speaker 4: It's all shapes. Yeah, and I like Lisa, she's lost,
- 31:45Speaker 4: and why did I do poetry club instead of Girl Scouts.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Then she discovers a coven of not witches but wickens.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Well, you know, wicked is a brand of witch.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Yeah, a sub sub form, a subset, subset. Yes, So
- 31:58Speaker 4: she discovers them making a post and then she says, oh,
- 32:01Speaker 4: you're going to miss one comes up from behind her.
- 32:02Speaker 4: She says, you're gonna be so embarrassed because two other
- 32:04Speaker 4: people at this party weren't in the same effort, just
- 32:06Speaker 4: like you. Then they confirmed after the break that they
- 32:09Speaker 4: are wickeds, not witches, and Lisa doesn't believe their spells.
- 32:11Speaker 4: It doesn't believe that they work. They tell her to
- 32:13Speaker 4: keep an eye, keep it up in mind on things,
- 32:15Speaker 4: and then I think she said something at the test tomorrow. Yeah, well,
- 32:19Speaker 4: if you were really witches, you could get me out
- 32:21Speaker 4: of my test for tomorrow. That's an art project, which
- 32:26Speaker 4: I must.
- 32:26Speaker 2: It's like, why would Lisa want to duck a school project?
- 32:29Speaker 4: Well, she's I think because they haven't got back in time.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Do gend the times?
- 32:33Speaker 2: At which one I've sitting written? At which one I've written?
- 32:37Speaker 2: Give me not a line to justify it?
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yes, But then Homer yells out They leave in a
- 32:43Speaker 4: man of most wicked, which is texting Mom to come
- 32:44Speaker 4: pick us up. And then the snow falls on home
- 32:46Speaker 4: when he screams out and he becomes like this snowman.
- 32:50Speaker 2: And Potto arrives. Not a bad call back, It's all right.
- 32:53Speaker 4: The next day, Lisa has one minute to finish her assignment.
- 32:56Speaker 4: She's in class trying to get it done before me
- 32:57Speaker 4: Hoover arrives.
- 32:58Speaker 1: What happened to miss who came down with a spell
- 33:01Speaker 1: of stomach flu spell?
- 33:03Speaker 2: Those girls couldn't have, Lader say, or could they?
- 33:06Speaker 1: Maybe we'll pass the time with another craft project. I'll
- 33:10Speaker 1: let one of you pick uh Lisa witchcraft witchcraft witch crash.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Cleanerston shows the various distilleries around the forest, and then
- 33:27Speaker 4: he and Homer have a popcroll.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Shadn't they they do? Yes, I've done. In sort of
- 33:31Speaker 2: a multi screen fashion, I struggled to keep.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Up the action when there's three things happening on screen
- 33:36Speaker 4: at the same time. I'm like, I can't. I can't
- 33:38Speaker 4: watch three things. I'm really okay, we're watching one. I
- 33:42Speaker 4: can't watch the other.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Can your eyes can sort of from one?
- 33:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, but you miss because I felt there's
- 33:47Speaker 4: a lot happening in these three things.
- 33:49Speaker 2: This was again another reference. This is to the movie Sideways.
- 33:54Speaker 2: The movies Sideway, Yes, Yes, starring a guy look like
- 33:56Speaker 2: Paul Gmati and Daniel looked like Tomas Hayden Church.
- 33:59Speaker 4: I was gonna say the Paul g. Marty is the
- 34:04Speaker 4: the guys of that guy's of that guys.
- 34:07Speaker 2: That guy.
- 34:07Speaker 4: I don't think it's a better.
- 34:08Speaker 2: He's transcended that. Yeah, he's reed. He's reached sort of
- 34:12Speaker 2: boss level of become of that guys, and it's become
- 34:15Speaker 2: Paul Gim Marti. Well, he's the one of the leads
- 34:18Speaker 2: in Billions, very popular show.
- 34:19Speaker 4: That's where Nicola knows him most from now. But I
- 34:22Speaker 4: just don't think that anyone has a bad way to
- 34:24Speaker 4: say about Jim Marty.
- 34:25Speaker 2: You would, you should not.
- 34:28Speaker 4: You can see one of the best character actors of
- 34:30Speaker 4: our time.
- 34:30Speaker 2: He's pretty good. Yeah, he's pretty good. I think I
- 34:34Speaker 2: probably went on and on and on about this on
- 34:37Speaker 2: the previous podcast, but he was he did like a
- 34:39Speaker 2: W two TF episode with Mark Maronent. Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Yeah, that's sad.
- 34:44Speaker 2: And I was listening to what was out on a walk,
- 34:47Speaker 2: and I'm like, how do I become Paul Jim Marty's
- 34:49Speaker 2: best friend? Because this is my brother from another mother.
- 34:51Speaker 2: He was talking about he just liked to go to
- 34:53Speaker 2: second hand bookshops and get like old science fiction novels,
- 34:56Speaker 2: my fucking man, so good, So Mary Star of Sideways,
- 35:01Speaker 2: which is referenced in this particular sequence.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Yes, again though it's just another reference. Yeah, I like that,
- 35:08Speaker 4: going back to the old way of just throwing references
- 35:10Speaker 4: in there. That about making it too obvious.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and I mean, given the Sideways is about quote
- 35:14Speaker 2: unquote wine connoisseurs, Yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 4: It makes it makes sense.
- 35:17Speaker 2: It makes sense, it does indeed. Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 4: But then Homer has invited Lenny and Carl to come
- 35:21Speaker 4: drig some moonshine with Cretus and co. And they wonder
- 35:24Speaker 4: if missus this, and no, he's there with his with
- 35:25Speaker 4: his shotgun. He's gonna dual shotguns, not bad paint the
- 35:28Speaker 4: snow with their brains. But the Hillbillies pull their guns.
- 35:30Speaker 4: And I was like, oh, as you were saying, oh okay,
- 35:32Speaker 4: well I see where this is going. He's also somewhat
- 35:36Speaker 4: disappointed that they don't go full Deliverance on it.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I remember seeing Deliverance on TV when I was a kid,
- 35:41Speaker 2: and back in the day we have what was called
- 35:43Speaker 2: modified for television, and they kind of still does it
- 35:48Speaker 2: on the on commercial TV. Yeah okay, because yeah, they
- 35:51Speaker 2: basically cut out all the good stuff. And remember seeing
- 35:53Speaker 2: Deliverance thinking, wow, this is pretty grueling. Was it exactly
- 35:57Speaker 2: sure what they were doing to pour their baby when
- 35:58Speaker 2: they made him school like a peace Then years later
- 36:01Speaker 2: watching damn, they're sucking that guy.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Oh what that's not good?
- 36:08Speaker 2: I thought it was the good stuff. It's like they're
- 36:10Speaker 2: doing something mean to that guy, but I wasn't sure what. Oh.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Oh, I remember the first time watching The Simpsons unedited
- 36:18Speaker 4: back in the day. It wasn't they cut out you know,
- 36:21Speaker 4: raunchy stuff. It's just they'd cut out extended scenes and whatnot.
- 36:23Speaker 4: And you get to the DVDs or the VHS copies
- 36:26Speaker 4: you like, oh, so that's why that's happening. That makes
- 36:29Speaker 4: so much more sense than they're just cut it down
- 36:30Speaker 4: for time. Yeah, did you see speaking of things edited out?
- 36:35Speaker 4: So there's now on HBO max it someone put up
- 36:38Speaker 4: yesterday on Twitter. I think Mad Men the four K
- 36:41Speaker 4: transfer Oh yeah, edits Yeah, you see the crew guys
- 36:45Speaker 4: holding the vomit machine.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yeah. When when Roger Starling comes back from comes back
- 36:49Speaker 2: from the drunken lunch and throws up his oysters in
- 36:51Speaker 2: someone's behind him with a hose.
- 36:54Speaker 4: How does that get in? I look at the screech
- 36:57Speaker 4: and look at that so doing the T shirt a
- 37:01Speaker 4: baseball cap.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Look. Part of me wants to go, oh, I hope
- 37:04Speaker 2: somebody got fired for that blunder, And the other half
- 37:06Speaker 2: of the more cynical half of me is going, well,
- 37:08Speaker 2: we're living in the attention economy and this is getting
- 37:11Speaker 2: people talking about mad.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Did anyone know Madman had a four K transpher h
- 37:16Speaker 4: Now you do? Now, bet you? That's been fixed now
- 37:20Speaker 4: all the attention it needs to be fixed, isn't it?
- 37:24Speaker 2: Isn't it terrible? These are the age, This is the
- 37:27Speaker 2: age of miracle and wonder.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Mad Men four K Transpherd HBO has been an absolute disaster.
- 37:32Speaker 4: The aspect ratios are off, title cards are missing, and
- 37:35Speaker 4: crew members are being seen.
- 37:36Speaker 2: At which point someone goes, hey, you know it's a
- 37:38Speaker 2: really good show. Mad men.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Yeah, let's go. It's in four K.
- 37:43Speaker 2: It's on four K on HBO Max, Let's do it. Oh,
- 37:46Speaker 2: I wonder if I get this, and oh I wonder
- 37:48Speaker 2: if I'll get to see some other blunder that I
- 37:50Speaker 2: can screenshot and then I'll get you know, I'll be
- 37:53Speaker 2: the person who gets a lot of engagement by pointing
- 37:55Speaker 2: it out to people. Brilliant, well down HB.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Or if you like me, you just own a physical media.
- 38:04Speaker 4: You can watch it whenever you feel like also like guy,
- 38:07Speaker 4: but it's not four k's blu ray four K mad man, I.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Don't think you do. Back to the episode. I'm not
- 38:14Speaker 2: even gonna say a lie. We better get back to this.
- 38:17Speaker 4: We're on the Claudia people. Yeah, Malton's waiting for So
- 38:24Speaker 4: Lisa goes to see the Wickens to ask about miss Hoover?
- 38:26Speaker 4: Did you actually put the spell on her? And then
- 38:29Speaker 4: they know they didn't, but they liked it, as you know,
- 38:32Speaker 4: indeed capitalize on the on the what's the word the coincidences.
- 38:36Speaker 2: That's how a lot of it works great, a little
- 38:38Speaker 2: bit of a mistake around them. So, yes, did you
- 38:40Speaker 2: girls make miss Hoover sick? Oh no, we would never
- 38:44Speaker 2: ask the goddess to harm a teacher.
- 38:46Speaker 1: But if the goddess chose to help you by giving
- 38:49Speaker 1: Miss Hoover the her she's worked, such as her divine wisdom.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Mm listening. Not that I've lost my skepticism, but I
- 38:58Speaker 2: am interested.
- 38:58Speaker 1: In learning more about wicked?
- 39:00Speaker 2: Are you?
- 39:00Speaker 1: A minority group is defined by Ivy League admissions, Cornell
- 39:03Speaker 1: and Dartmouth.
- 39:04Speaker 2: What else you got? We worship nature?
- 39:07Speaker 1: I worship nature.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Want to join us?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Well? Innocent honor to be asked, but I never make
- 39:13Speaker 1: a final decision in the middle of the forest at night.
- 39:16Speaker 4: By then notices that Lisa is getting into into witchcraft.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Welcome to the dark side.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Well, that's sure, she's researching on Wikipedia.
- 39:23Speaker 4: I didn't even notice that.
- 39:24Speaker 2: That's not a bad yet. Yeah, just as you looked
- 39:28Speaker 2: at everything that was on Flanders's Speed doar. I looked
- 39:31Speaker 2: at all the things that were on Wikipedia and also
- 39:34Speaker 2: notes about how many articles they were on aage? What
- 39:37Speaker 2: they would you do? Mean to read the whole day
- 39:38Speaker 2: wood life? Okay?
- 39:39Speaker 4: Then By made the effort to do the job. Let's
- 39:41Speaker 4: let's get let's have the payoff.
- 39:43Speaker 2: It's for a change. Spells. There were thirty thousand plus
- 39:49Speaker 2: articles curses twenty four thousand plus articles, brooms one two
- 39:53Speaker 2: hundred plus articles, anti acne three hundred and fifty plus articles,
- 39:57Speaker 2: persians fifteen thousand plus, familiar such as you know You're
- 40:00Speaker 2: black Cat, You're our forty four one hundred plus articles,
- 40:05Speaker 2: dating zero articles like that. And Buffy two million five
- 40:11Speaker 2: apparently is the best show ever made. Yes, I've done
- 40:14Speaker 2: the Buffy reboot apparently really with Sarah Michelle. With Sarah
- 40:17Speaker 2: Michelle as sort of like to be in the Giles role,
- 40:20Speaker 2: I think the mentor role. Yeah, we watched.
- 40:23Speaker 4: I watched the first two episodes for our TV launch
- 40:25Speaker 4: pot and it never went back to revisit it. But
- 40:26Speaker 4: I can tell it's the show I probably would enjoy.
- 40:28Speaker 2: I've watched it all. It's very nineties early two thousand,
- 40:32Speaker 2: which I probably would like about it. Yeah, imagine. So
- 40:35Speaker 2: it's a lot of good.
- 40:35Speaker 4: So I like watching shows that feel of their time.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's very much a trendset because, for better
- 40:41Speaker 2: or worse, Joss Whedon sort of set the tone for
- 40:43Speaker 2: so much of pop culture that we that were enjoying it.
- 40:46Speaker 2: About this show, well, no, I mean he's he's kind
- 40:49Speaker 2: of pivotal in the creation of the Marvel Universe. You
- 40:51Speaker 2: did the first Avengers he did, and the second one,
- 40:54Speaker 2: and the second one as well.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Okay, this show is brought to you by the four

- 41:22Speaker 4: notices that Lisa's getting into it, but he says, just
- 41:23Speaker 4: dragging out. They don't get straight into it. You gotta
- 41:25Speaker 4: have a few things. You gotta have a college, you
- 41:27Speaker 4: gotta be college and aarexic. You're gonna have a string
- 41:28Speaker 4: of bad marriages, career disappointments, failed pottery shop, and then
- 41:32Speaker 4: when you're all old and you're alone, then he can
- 41:34Speaker 4: go hit the which thing really hard.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Doesn't feel like a bart line.
- 41:38Speaker 4: I was thinking the same thing when you were saying it.
- 41:40Speaker 4: But enough thought about enough thought, I can maybe hear
- 41:43Speaker 4: him saying this in a nineties episode.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Not too sure.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Maybe maybe yeah, because they're playing off Bart would know
- 41:51Speaker 4: all about this kind of stuff. But I feel like
- 41:52Speaker 4: Bart never was really into life. There was into Satan,
- 41:55Speaker 4: and I guess he kind of was. This is more
- 41:57Speaker 4: of it when a first when to show first.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Started, is more just mischief for norm Yes, and if
- 42:01Speaker 2: he if he was quote unquote into Satan, is what
- 42:03Speaker 2: would be just to sort of be able to rill
- 42:05Speaker 2: up the squares?
- 42:06Speaker 4: Yeah, there's nothing.
- 42:07Speaker 2: I don't think he was ever a legitimate black circle boy.
- 42:10Speaker 2: I think he was more like a that's Rightdham into Satan.
- 42:14Speaker 2: He'll satan.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Oh no, Then Lisa's not interested in what he has
- 42:17Speaker 4: to say, tries to put a Cassa spell on Snowball too,
- 42:19Speaker 4: and Flanders oversees this. He says, I know I knew
- 42:22Speaker 4: Buddhism would lead straight to witchcraft. I didn't I like
- 42:25Speaker 4: this gig here straight to hell. That says down, That
- 42:28Speaker 4: says it's pretty funny, and he calls the witch witchcraft Advisory.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Now at the Moonshine under the moon Festival, they hear
- 42:36Speaker 4: the cops arriving. The government are coming, and so they
- 42:39Speaker 4: throw the hoo chat down into the water, which pays off.
- 42:43Speaker 4: It does, yes, and it's they planted a seed, Yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 4: planned a Seat's nice. Seeds being planned again, It's nice. Yeah,
- 42:48Speaker 4: I like it. Lisa is now being initiated. They're giving
- 42:51Speaker 4: him some grape juice and they all get arrested. So
- 42:53Speaker 4: is it illegal witchcraft?
- 42:55Speaker 2: Funny you should say that. What have I written here?
- 42:57Speaker 4: So?
- 42:58Speaker 2: Wait? Is witchcraft illegal? They're just drinking grape juice? Yeah?
- 43:02Speaker 2: What I like later on is and they maybe should
- 43:05Speaker 2: have done this earlier. See, this is what I mean
- 43:07Speaker 2: when it felt like this episode was kind of cobbled together.
- 43:09Speaker 2: They've got a bit where Quimby goes Lessen. We still
- 43:11Speaker 2: be abide by the rule of law here seventeen seventy
- 43:14Speaker 2: six law or something like that. Yeah, And it's like, yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 2: I think there are parts of America where they actually
- 43:19Speaker 2: have like these ancient laws still on the books. It's
- 43:22Speaker 2: kind of like, you know, and that's part of the world.
- 43:24Speaker 2: It's for deaden, for a man to know, it's perfectly
- 43:27Speaker 2: legal for a man to marry.
- 43:28Speaker 4: His goat, the right to bear arms. Whoa scathing It's
- 43:37Speaker 4: like we're Bill and Mardy, what a bunch of clowns.
- 43:43Speaker 2: I praising the machinery. Yeah, but I must admit that
- 43:48Speaker 2: was It's not a knit that I was picking. And
- 43:50Speaker 2: I was like, wait, so these are just a bunch
- 43:52Speaker 2: of kids, you know, sort of like frolicking around in
- 43:54Speaker 2: the woods just having fun.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Yeah, they're not actually doing anything, they're having fun.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I was reminded slightly. I don't know if you've
- 44:02Speaker 2: ever seen these documentaries, one called it's called Paradise Lost.
- 44:06Speaker 2: There were apparently these it's a terrible story. There were
- 44:10Speaker 2: these child murders somewhere in rural America. It was like
- 44:13Speaker 2: small town or rural community or something, but there there
- 44:16Speaker 2: were a couple of local guys who were into like
- 44:18Speaker 2: death metal and stuff like that, and they were dressed
- 44:20Speaker 2: like goths, and they were the easy targets and they
- 44:23Speaker 2: were basically railroad and went to jail. Really yeah yeah,
- 44:26Speaker 2: And there were these documentaries made about them, and I
- 44:30Speaker 2: think the guys were eventually exonerated and released from prison.
- 44:32Speaker 2: But like on one of the documentaries, it's pretty much like,
- 44:37Speaker 2: pretty sure this stepfather did it because he seems kind
- 44:39Speaker 2: of sketchy and you know, he's very.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Big in this guy very much What about this guy
- 44:44Speaker 4: because he's like.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Into his knives and all that shit, and it's kind
- 44:46Speaker 2: of like he may well have been completely innocent, just
- 44:49Speaker 2: a grieving stepfather, but also like you seem you seem
- 44:53Speaker 2: like a personal interest. Yeah, so, so I was a reminder.
- 44:57Speaker 2: I don't know if that's an an obvious reference to this,
- 45:01Speaker 2: but there's something that sort of came up for me.
- 45:02Speaker 2: But they're definitely worth checking out. They're also on HBO Max. Okay, yeah,
- 45:06Speaker 2: it's like you can look off to the We've got
- 45:10Speaker 2: the one about friends podcasts. How about potential sponsor of
- 45:13Speaker 2: the board.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, the thing is during that time too, I'm
- 45:17Speaker 4: thinking about bowling for Columbine. Like it was the whole gamers.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Gamers were the ones they targets, right, like video games,
- 45:23Speaker 4: we gotta stop video games. And then everyone realized we
- 45:25Speaker 4: can profit from these things. There's a billion dollar industry.
- 45:28Speaker 4: Games an't the problem anymore?
- 45:33Speaker 3: What's that thirly ruckus the government?
- 45:42Speaker 4: So they chuck all their moonshine into the river, which
- 45:44Speaker 4: is the sea plant, which doesn't really come across as
- 45:46Speaker 4: a sea plant at the time, does that No, it's just.
- 45:48Speaker 2: A something that happens. Shall we say yeah, they just
- 45:52Speaker 2: get reaction, of course.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Yeah, chucking their ship down the toilet.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not that, not that we know about that.
- 46:01Speaker 2: They're on to us.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Then Lisa is here, We've got the initiation process. She's
- 46:07Speaker 4: drinking her grape juice and whatnot. It's just very childish witches,
- 46:10Speaker 4: isn't it, Because it's all just you know, they're doing
- 46:12Speaker 4: the witches.
- 46:12Speaker 2: That's dark. They were in their suits, but they're drinking
- 46:14Speaker 2: grape juice. Correct, Yeah, I mean, first Witchcraft babies, first covenent.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Initiate.
- 46:23Speaker 1: How does one enter the circle with perfect faith and
- 46:27Speaker 1: perfect love?
- 46:28Speaker 2: Joy us, joy us, joy us. Do not sanctify that witch.
- 46:41Speaker 2: I kind of feel sorry for him.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Crammed in that bag she tassam at Judy Bloom novelo.
- 46:47Speaker 2: All we got is wife chief nothing.
- 46:49Speaker 1: With kids in it.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Damn budget catch is no time for the first Witchcraft
- 46:54Speaker 4: trial in twelve years in Springfield. They clearly they do
- 46:57Speaker 4: this a lot. And so there's it been twelve since
- 47:00Speaker 4: the twenty one. There's been twelve years since the Witchcraft
- 47:03Speaker 4: episode The Tress of Horror one. That would be a
- 47:05Speaker 4: fun little callback, Wow, will be Actually, I don't know,
- 47:09Speaker 4: Maybe do your research listeners doing it.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because you know, as I say, it's my understanding
- 47:14Speaker 2: that women no mats.
- 47:15Speaker 4: But Brockmann interview is Patty and Summer and whatnot. He says,
- 47:18Speaker 4: you know they're hideous, and they say you think you're
- 47:21Speaker 4: hideous when we're at the back of the seafood Heart
- 47:22Speaker 4: and he says, we all did crazy things on nine
- 47:24Speaker 4: to eleven. The witches then cast their spell on the
- 47:27Speaker 4: court room, though, and all of a sudden it was
- 47:29Speaker 4: on the court room. I was on SPRINGFI was on Springfield,
- 47:31Speaker 4: on Springfield in general. Yeah, and everyone goes blind. Nelson
- 47:34Speaker 4: goes blind. It goes blind during surgery, which means Mormon
- 47:36Speaker 4: has to do his own surgery, which felt very odd
- 47:38Speaker 4: School Simpsons. But now the court case and we get
- 47:42Speaker 4: the blue Head Lawyer. He's finally returned. It sounds like
- 47:44Speaker 4: the blue head lawyer acting like the blue head Lawyer.
- 47:46Speaker 4: More blue Head Lawyer, please, I actually have a lot
- 47:49Speaker 4: of huts. Let's have blue why mates coming back from
- 47:51Speaker 4: the States today, and he's brought up some stuff on
- 47:53Speaker 4: a couple of records. But he also I bought a
- 47:55Speaker 4: little blue Head Lawyer action figure that comes with little
- 47:58Speaker 4: his briefcase and his glasses.
- 48:01Speaker 2: By the way, do we give a shout out to
- 48:03Speaker 2: when the girls are being arrested on sufficient of witchcraft
- 48:07Speaker 2: the Judy bloom novel The Judy Blue Yeah, yeah, because.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Give Judy bloom the book.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Yes, and it turns out to be the only adult
- 48:15Speaker 2: book that Judy Bloomer wrote, because you know, one if
- 48:17Speaker 2: the kids still know who Judy Bloom is, No, yeah,
- 48:19Speaker 2: she was. Kids didn't who she was when I was
- 48:21Speaker 2: a kid, Oh dear. She was sort of very pivotal
- 48:24Speaker 2: to a lot of teenagers lives, and certainly teenage girls lives.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:27Speaker 2: I wrote these books about you know, adolescents and all
- 48:29Speaker 2: this kind of stuff, and.
- 48:30Speaker 4: They were the twilight of her time.
- 48:32Speaker 2: No, no, no, These were very sort of just relatable
- 48:35Speaker 2: human stories. But they also talked about Okay, that's what
- 48:38Speaker 2: it's like to get your first period and all this
- 48:39Speaker 2: kind of stuff, and you know, for a lot of girls,
- 48:41Speaker 2: it's kind of like, oh, thank god, it's not just me. Yeah,
- 48:44Speaker 2: but you also run wrote one book for grown ups
- 48:46Speaker 2: called Forever, which is the one here.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Would have been B two because that was the time
- 48:49Speaker 4: when people didn't talk about that kind of shit very much.
- 48:51Speaker 2: The case. Oh yeah, you'll have people of you know,
- 48:54Speaker 2: generation x's like me. There are certainly American American girls
- 48:57Speaker 2: who were like, oh, thank God for Judy Bloom. There
- 49:01Speaker 2: was recently, like a film adaptation in one of her
- 49:02Speaker 2: books called one Are you there, God, It's me Margaret
- 49:06Speaker 2: on Amazon.
- 49:07Speaker 4: I see that parade all the time. I don't know, Okay,
- 49:11Speaker 4: it's me Margaret, It's.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Me Margaret Mary. But anyway, that was a bit of
- 49:14Speaker 2: a sorry, bit of a rewind.
- 49:16Speaker 4: But guaranteed there's listeners out there who had no idea
- 49:18Speaker 4: who Judy Blue is. Because it's funny because I don't
- 49:21Speaker 4: have access to Wikipedia. But my mates, Yeah, my mate's
- 49:24Speaker 4: coming from the States. I just mentioned his last time,
- 49:25Speaker 4: hes blooming. His mom's name Judy, So Judy Bomb. Oh
- 49:27Speaker 4: my gosh, nearly Blue. I think got for Judy Bomb
- 49:31Speaker 4: as well. But besides, you wouldn't get that Bluehead Lawyer
- 49:34Speaker 4: action figure exactly.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:36Speaker 4: But as we're saying, the blue Head Lawyer's returned and
- 49:39Speaker 4: he's got Gwendolen night Shadow up on the stand. But
- 49:41Speaker 4: she's not actually Gwendolyn night Shadow. She's actually Stacy death Satan.
- 49:45Speaker 4: Lisa says that these girls made her feel like she
- 49:47Speaker 4: belongs and how many times have we had this story?
- 49:49Speaker 4: They just made me feel like I belonged.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Well, everybody wants their tribe.
- 49:54Speaker 4: But then enters and he does his usual bag stuff you've.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Created, you've created your own tribe, the full thing, a
- 50:00Speaker 2: discount network family. But yeah, yes, Bart comes in and
- 50:04Speaker 2: just starts acting. I'm glad they shouted this out because
- 50:09Speaker 2: this is what actually one of my favorite bits. Yeah,
- 50:11Speaker 2: the judge strangely, I'll allow it.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Yes, that's sort of their their work around when shit's
- 50:16Speaker 4: going wrong in the court. That wouldn't nomally get it.
- 50:18Speaker 4: It's like, oh, and that's jilk. But he makes a
- 50:23Speaker 4: dictator Is it called dictator? Is that what she's called?
- 50:26Speaker 4: What's it's not?
- 50:27Speaker 2: Stenographer?
- 50:28Speaker 4: Snographer? Yeah, but she's she's a big difference. But she's dictating, right,
- 50:33Speaker 4: so someone's dictating. She's taking it down, taking dictation, dictation
- 50:37Speaker 4: like a dictator. That's not the right word. But then
- 50:44Speaker 4: Snyder says he's never seen such a flimsy case. But yeah,
- 50:46Speaker 4: he will out or whatever.
- 50:47Speaker 2: I think.
- 50:48Speaker 4: I think he throws it out the window because he's
- 50:49Speaker 4: never never been so flimsy, and we brings up, Yeah,
- 50:52Speaker 4: but what about the goat tax evasion case in the
- 50:53Speaker 4: case gets it's myths. Anyway, the town then the.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Very family guy is cut away, goes on the yacht,
- 50:59Speaker 2: things like, ah, I've seeing the pernicious influence of seth mcva.
- 51:03Speaker 4: R indeed definitely. And the town then take their own
- 51:05Speaker 4: truck and that that's not good. We want to burn
- 51:07Speaker 4: these witches. And Wigan fives his gun, you think to
- 51:09Speaker 4: stop them, and he's no, he's just shooting a fly
- 51:10Speaker 4: in the ceiling. Then Quibi then says that abound by
- 51:13Speaker 4: seventeenth century law. As you're touching on a little bit earlier,
- 51:15Speaker 4: William stalls a dunking stool, which is this device that's
- 51:18Speaker 4: basically going to dunk them with their witches. They survive,
- 51:20Speaker 4: if they're not, they're going to be killed.
- 51:22Speaker 2: This is apparently a real thing that they did back
- 51:24Speaker 2: in the day during witchcraft trials. Is like, yeah, you know,
- 51:27Speaker 2: if this doesn't kill you, well, no, if this kills you,
- 51:29Speaker 2: we know you're in the city.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and you're dying honorable death.
- 51:32Speaker 2: The fuck will burn you.
- 51:36Speaker 4: And if you know, if you survive, then we know
- 51:37Speaker 4: you're a witch. If you don't, then you know, we.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Know you're a witch. Yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 4: So but yeah, but you bed to dead.
- 51:43Speaker 2: The last thing you see is you die, this agonizing death.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Is someone go yeah not yes, okay, thank god, thank
- 51:49Speaker 4: god you're pure Lisa and reveals it was the moonshine
- 51:52Speaker 4: though that actually made everybody blind. And I was like,
- 51:55Speaker 4: that's a good little twist.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that seed you planted three minutes ago is actually
- 52:00Speaker 2: bloomed into delightful flower or Judy bloomed into a delightful flower.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Because they didn't make a big deal of it. It
- 52:04Speaker 4: was just either just dumping the moon sho Well it's.
- 52:06Speaker 2: A naturally as I said, natural reaction as well, so
- 52:08Speaker 2: you don't necessarily see it as a seed plant or
- 52:10Speaker 2: something that's going to pay off.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Yeah, just a little way down the line, it's they
- 52:15Speaker 4: temporarily blinded, everybody having drink to just to prove it. Yep,
- 52:18Speaker 4: he says, the little whitch is right, and mo is
- 52:20Speaker 4: sad that the mob was now falling apart, just a
- 52:22Speaker 4: much of sparks weasels. So that then beat him up.
- 52:24Speaker 4: And that's what he's talking about. This wants human contacts
- 52:26Speaker 4: basically very yeah, needy mode, very mesochistic. Yeah, he's he
- 52:31Speaker 4: was down for a little bit of pegging earlier in town.
- 52:33Speaker 4: It just wants to get a beat. And who doesn't
- 52:34Speaker 4: want to be of pegging? Who does not being the
- 52:37Speaker 4: clothes on the clothes lie correct? Yeah, I mean we
- 52:39Speaker 4: can't use the dryer all the time. No, we don't
- 52:41Speaker 4: have a dry I hate drive. They shrink everything. But
- 52:43Speaker 4: the thing is, Nicola bought these new pegs, right, she
- 52:45Speaker 4: changed brands of Pegs. Terrible, terrible decision. She was like, oh,
- 52:48Speaker 4: they're a little bit more expensive, but they're meant to
- 52:50Speaker 4: be better. They snap all the time, then they don't
- 52:53Speaker 4: hold as many items and clothing. I was like, just
- 52:55Speaker 4: go get the Anko brand from Kmart. You will not fail.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I bought it. I bought a nice big bag of
- 53:02Speaker 2: new clothes Pegs because I mean, yeah, min, I've had
- 53:05Speaker 2: the ones that I've been on my line forever and
- 53:06Speaker 2: some of them is under you know, your clothes.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Snap, yeah, snapping. These new ones.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, oh I got these new ones. Like
- 53:12Speaker 2: it felt like it felt like New Year's results, New
- 53:14Speaker 2: Years knew me new pegs.
- 53:16Speaker 4: I prepared for this.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, sound so good.
- 53:22Speaker 4: Then the Wickens thank Lisa, they say, you know, thank
- 53:24Speaker 4: you for getting inside of this pickle and he says,
- 53:26Speaker 4: don't worry you guys made me feel cool and that's
- 53:28Speaker 4: a big thing, Like it's a hard thing to do.
- 53:30Speaker 4: March is now the only Witch at least has to
- 53:31Speaker 4: worry about is which boy will marry her, which is
- 53:34Speaker 4: very margins, very much. It reminds me of the boys
- 53:39Speaker 4: Boys that was good over then takes a ride on
- 53:45Speaker 4: the dunking stool for fun, I guess, and he gets
- 53:47Speaker 4: dunked but he doesn't come back up and the Hillbillies go,
- 53:50Speaker 4: oh shit, and they just leave him dunk in the water,
- 53:52Speaker 4: and I'm glad it didn't end there. Form I thought,
- 53:54Speaker 4: if that's how it ended, that's so family guy, like
- 53:57Speaker 4: you were saying very much. So he's dead, that's not
- 54:00Speaker 4: how you end the episode. So we now get the
- 54:02Speaker 4: credits and Lisa is skating on the ice to season.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Of the Witch. Yes, indeed, as I mentioned before banger
- 54:07Speaker 2: of a Tune by Amman Donovan.
- 54:09Speaker 4: She's created a little hole in the in the ice
- 54:11Speaker 4: and Homer burst out through the ice and I was like,
- 54:13Speaker 4: at least you fixed that problem. Yes, And that is
- 54:16Speaker 4: the end of Rednecks and Broomsticks.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Rednecks and brooms.
- 54:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I kept want to say boomsticks because we had
- 54:22Speaker 4: that episode mypods and boomsticks.
- 54:25Speaker 2: We've made that mistake more than what but we did
- 54:28Speaker 2: it off air because you know we're professionals. Yes, so
- 54:30Speaker 2: we were very careful to say broomsticks. What do we
- 54:33Speaker 2: learn bomber?
- 54:34Speaker 4: Did you learn anything from this episode? Mister Davis?
- 54:36Speaker 2: Did I learn anything from this episode?
- 54:40Speaker 4: Why don't never trust girls that drink grape juice? Would
- 54:44Speaker 4: you trust a witch? Would you trust someone that you
- 54:46Speaker 4: met who's your age, even because of all ages, right,
- 54:49Speaker 4: who believe they were a witch and they it was harmless,
- 54:52Speaker 4: They didn't do anything wrong, but they genuinely believed they
- 54:55Speaker 4: were doing those witchcruft?
- 54:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean would I
- 54:59Speaker 2: be Would I trust someone who said I have magical
- 55:03Speaker 2: powers and I can fly on a broomstick and on itself, Like, no,
- 55:06Speaker 2: you're nuts. Well, I wouldn't say that to the face
- 55:08Speaker 2: because you know, there's a very small chance they might
- 55:10Speaker 2: have to have magical powers and turn me into toad.
- 55:13Speaker 2: I don't need that that. I don't need it this
- 55:14Speaker 2: close to Christmas. I got shit to do. But you know,
- 55:19Speaker 2: if any if someone's so many witches that you quite
- 55:21Speaker 2: unquote meet these days. Not that I've met that many,
- 55:23Speaker 2: but you know I've had my palm read or had
- 55:26Speaker 2: tarot readings and all that kind of stuff, and that
- 55:28Speaker 2: sort of falls under the witchcraft perview. Yeah, by all means,
- 55:31Speaker 2: it means like meeting someone who says they're a Catholic
- 55:33Speaker 2: or a Buddhist or something. Yeah, so yeah, absolutely would.
- 55:37Speaker 4: Do that story of the podcast. One of my best
- 55:39Speaker 4: mates when I was in high school, I think, well
- 55:41Speaker 4: year eight, year seven, still teenagers, but you know, still children,
- 55:44Speaker 4: they're still very young. And we came home from his
- 55:47Speaker 4: house one day after school and his mum was doing
- 55:50Speaker 4: witch He's like, my mom's a witch, so just don't
- 55:52Speaker 4: worry about it. And okay, not what that means, but.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Those two statements don't go well together. A witch, don't worry, it's.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Just like she might be doing like witch shit, just
- 56:03Speaker 4: just ignore. He don'torry about it. It's just like it's fine,
- 56:06Speaker 4: just she's just doing a witch shit, okay. And she'd
- 56:08Speaker 4: like two friends over and like I said, we're like
- 56:10Speaker 4: year seven maybe year right, I think we're like year
- 56:12Speaker 4: seven walking through and they're doing the They got like
- 56:16Speaker 4: I had this caldron thing in the middle. People just
- 56:18Speaker 4: in the living room, like this smug like a fog
- 56:21Speaker 4: coming out of like steamy something. Yeah, and they're always
- 56:24Speaker 4: wearing no shirts. They're alders sitting down with this boobs out.
- 56:26Speaker 2: I was about to say, there's just some nudity involved
- 56:28Speaker 2: in the oh, like a cool witch orgit or something.
- 56:30Speaker 4: All the all three women just in their nickers of
- 56:32Speaker 4: the boobs hanging out, and I was just like, it's
- 56:33Speaker 4: just like, just keep walking, dude. I'm like, I was like,
- 56:35Speaker 4: I'm not worried, but I don't why I keep I'm
- 56:36Speaker 4: not worrying about this.
- 56:39Speaker 2: I'm interested in this witch. I'd like to subscribe to
- 56:42Speaker 2: your newsletter.
- 56:43Speaker 4: She's just like, hi, Joshua and I've never met. To
- 56:48Speaker 4: be fine. It's like, oh shit, okay, that's so. There's
- 56:50Speaker 4: your there's your mum's boobs.
- 56:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 56:51Speaker 4: You know, when you're like thirteen, you're like, I don't
- 56:54Speaker 4: know what to do here.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 56:56Speaker 4: I think they were like the first legitimate, like proper
- 56:59Speaker 4: boobs in real life.
- 57:01Speaker 2: When you're thirteen, you don't know what to do. I'm
- 57:03Speaker 2: talking about me.
- 57:05Speaker 4: I was just like, I's like, why can't I turn away.
- 57:12Speaker 2: To quote down Man Milhouse, Manhattan, I fear to watch. Yeah,
- 57:14Speaker 2: I cannot turn away. You ask me what I learned.
- 57:17Speaker 2: If I have kids, They're never get in a bunker never,
- 57:21Speaker 2: I never know they're terrible, Never get a bunk it.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Alliot's got to understand a boppitt bop it, bonk it,
- 57:26Speaker 2: twisted it, twist it. But I go over to my
- 57:31Speaker 2: mate's house and you know his which mum has got
- 57:33Speaker 2: a boobs out, then I'm definitely gonna bunk it. From
- 57:36Speaker 2: this day forward, your names will be.
- 57:38Speaker 4: It is time for the Guy Davis New Name Championship
- 57:41Speaker 4: for Rednecks and broomsticks. He Currently the board stands at
- 57:44Speaker 4: this In first position, we have Phillip J. Hawkins on
- 57:47Speaker 4: twelve points. In second position we have Kyl Muldoonklever Kyle
