• 0:47
their exciting 2026 season. Whether you're a sports fan or

just want to know how teams work together, you're in the right
• 0:54
place. Grab your favorite snack, get
• 0:56
comfy, and let's jump right in. First, let's talk about who the
• 1:11
San Antonio Spurs are. The San Antonio Spurs are
• 1:14
professional basketball team based in San Antonio, TX.
• 1:19
They play in the National Basketball Association, which
• 1:21
you might know as the NBA. The NBA is the most popular
• 1:25
men's professional basketball league in the United States, and
• 1:29
it features teams from all over the country.
• 1:32
The Spurs are one of the 30 teams that compete every year to
• 1:35
try and win the NBA championship.
• 1:38
The Spurs have a long history. They joined the NBA in 1976 and
• 1:44
have been known for their teamwork, smart strategies and
• 1:47
strong coaching. Did you know the Spurs have won
• 1:50
five NBA championships? These wins happened in 1999,
• 1:56
  2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014. That's a lot of trophies.
• 2:03
The team is also famous for being really good at working
• 2:06
together and sharing the ball, rather than relying on just one
• 2:10
superstar. This way, everyone on the team
• 2:13
gets a chance to shine. Now, let's zoom into the 2026
• 2:17
season. The 2026 NBA season was full of
• 2:20
surprises, new faces, and big moments for the San Antonio
• 2:24
Spurs. The team's home games are played
• 2:27
at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, which can hold over
• 2:31
18,000 fans. Imagine the cheers and
• 2:34
excitement echoing through the arena every time the Spurs score
• 2:38
a basket. One of the biggest stories for
• 2:40
the Spurs in 2026 was the continued growth of their young
• 2:44
star, Victor Wenbanuma. Victor, who is very tall at
• 2:49
about 7 feet 4 inches, is from France and join the Spurs in
• 2:53
2023. By 2026, he had become one of
• 2:58
the most exciting players in the NBA.
• 3:00
He's known for blocking shots, scoring from, and moving
• 3:04
quickly. Despite being so tall, fans
• 3:07
everywhere love watching him play because he does things on
• 3:10
the court that almost nobody else can do.
• 3:12
Here's something cool to think about.
• 3:14
Have you ever wondered how tall a basketball hoop is?
• 3:20
The answer is 10 feet tall. That's taller than most ceilings
• 3:24
in people's homes, so when Victor Wimbanuma jumps up to
• 3:29
block a shot or slam dunk the ball, he's leaping way above
• 3:32
most people's heads. In 2026, the Spurs focused on
• 3:37
developing their young players and building a team that could
• 3:40
work together for many years. Besides Victor, the team had
• 3:44
several talented players from different countries, showing how
• 3:47
basketball brings people together from all over the
• 3:50
world. Some were great at shooting 3
• 3:53
pointers, others were quick defenders, and a few were
• 3:56
amazing at passing the ball to set up their teammates.
• 3:59
Let's talk about teamwork. In basketball, teamwork means
• 4:03
sharing the ball, setting screens, and talking to each
• 4:06
other on defense. The Spurs are famous for this.
• 4:10
Even in the 2026 season, coaches and players worked hard to make
• 4:14
sure everyone knew their role. For example, during games you
• 4:19
might see players high fiving each other, calling out plays,
• 4:23
or helping a teammate up if they fall.
• 4:25
All of these actions help the team stay connected and play
• 4:29
their best. Here's a fun trivia question.
• 4:32
Did you know that the San Antonio Spurs once had a player
• 4:35
who became the NBA's all time leader in games played?
• 4:38
Can you guess his name? The answer is Robert Parish, but
• 4:45
he played most of his games before joining the Spurs for a
• 4:48
short time. The Spurs are proud of their
• 4:51
  history with many legendary players.
• 4:53
Now let's look at what makes an NBA season special.
• 4:57
The basketball season usually starts in October and goes until
• 5:01
April, with playoffs taking place after that.
• 5:04
Each team plays 82 games, which means the Spurs had to stay fit,
• 5:08
focused and ready to play almost every night.
• 5:12
That's a lot of basketball. Players practice almost every
• 5:16
day, work with coaches and watch videos to get better.
• 5:20
In 2026, the Spurs played hard against tough teams like the
• 5:24
Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles
• 5:28
  Lakers. During the season, players
• 5:30
sometimes get hurt, but the Spurs have a team of doctors and
• 5:34
trainers who help them recover. Staying healthy is really
• 5:38
important in sports. Eating well, sleeping enough and
• 5:42
warming up before games all help players do their best.
• 5:45
Did you know that the Spurs are famous for their family
• 5:48
friendly, atmospheric games? Kids and families love going to
• 5:52
watch and there are fun activities, games, and even the
• 5:55
Spurs Coyote, their mascot who dances and makes people laugh
• 5:59
during timeouts. Here's a new yes or no question
• 6:02
for you. Do you think the San Antonio
• 6:03
Spurs have ever played a basketball game outside the
• 6:06
United States? The answer is yes.
• 6:12
The Spurs have played games in other countries like Mexico and
• 6:16
England to help more people enjoy basketball around the
• 6:19
world back to the 2026 season. This year, the Spurs head coach
• 6:24
was Greg Popovich, who has been coaching the team for over 25
• 6:27
years. That's longer than many of the
• 6:30
players have been alive. Coach Popovich is known for
• 6:33
being wise, patient and great at teaching young players.
• 6:37
He helps everyone learn not just about basketball, but also about
• 6:41
working hard, respecting others and being a good teammate.
• 6:45
Now let's talk about some statistics.
• 6:48
In basketball, statistics are numbers that help you know how
• 6:51
well A-Team or player is doing. For example, points scored,
• 6:55
rebounds, which is when a player grabs the ball after a missed
• 6:58
shot, assists, passing the ball to someone who scores and
• 7:02
steals, taking the ball from the other team.
• 7:06
In 2026, the Spurs improved in several areas, especially
• 7:10
defense and rebounding. Victor Wenbanuma led the team in
• 7:14
blocks while their guards were quick at stealing the ball from
• 7:17
  opponents. Here's another trivia question.
• 7:20
Can you guess what the Spurs mascot, the Coyote wears during
• 7:25
games? The answer is a big furry coyote
• 7:30
suit with a jersey and basketball shorts.
• 7:33
Sometimes he even wears funny costumes for special events.
• 7:38
Let's talk about some of the important games from the 2026
• 7:41
season. The Spurs had several close
• 7:44
games where they had to work together and stay calm under
• 7:47
pressure. Sometimes the other team would
• 7:49
be ahead, but the Spurs didn't give up.
• 7:52
They used quick passes, smart plays, and strong defense to
• 7:56
catch up. Even if they didn't win every
• 7:58
game, fans appreciated their effort and teamwork.
• 8:02
Have you ever wondered how teams travel to all their games?
• 8:06
Here's a question for you. Do you think NBA teams travel by
• 8:09
  regular airplanes with other passengers?
• 8:14
The answer is no. NBA teams like the Spurs usually
• 8:18
have special charter planes. These planes have comfy seats
• 8:22
and enough space for all the players, coaches and equipment
• 8:26
so they can rest and get ready for their next game.
• 8:29
Another thing that's special about the Spurs is their
• 8:31
connection to the San Antonio community.
• 8:34
The players and coaches often visit schools, help with charity
• 8:37
events and work with local organizations.
• 8:41
They won't inspire kids to stay active, eat healthy and be kind
• 8:46
to others. Now here's one more yes or no
• 8:48
question. Did you know that in 2026, the
• 8:52
Spurs had one of the tallest starting lineups in the NBA?
• 8:58
The answer is yes. Having tall players helps with
• 9:02
blocking shots and grabbing rebounds, but quickness and
• 9:05
teamwork are just as important. Before we wrap up, let's do a
• 9:10
quick recap of what we learned today.
• 9:12
The San Antonio Spurs are a professional basketball team
• 9:15
from Texas with a long history of teamwork and success.
• 9:19
Their 2026 season was all about growing their young players,
• 9:23
especially Victor Wambanuma, and building a strong team for the
• 9:27
future. The Spurs play in the NBA,
• 9:30
travel all across the country and even the world to compete.
• 9:34
They're known for their family friendly games, their funny
• 9:37
coyote mascot, and their caring connection to the community.
• 9:41
We also learned some cool facts like how tall A basketball hoop
• 9:45
is, how NBA teams travel, and that the Spurs have played games
• 9:49
in other countries. Teamwork, practice, and respect
• 9:52
are key to their success both on and off the court.
