- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Today we're going to talk about animals – specifically farm animals. In Norwegian, many farm animal words are short and fun to say. Luna: Ooh, I love animals. What's first? Lucas: Let's start with ku. That means cow. Say it with me: ku. Luna: Ku. Lucas: Perfect. Ku. It's just two letters, like 'koo' in English but shorter. Luna: Ku. I can picture a cow in a field – ku. Lucas: Exactly. Next, hest – horse. Hest. Luna: Hest. Sounds like 'hest' but with a soft h. Lucas: Right. And then we have sau – sheep. Sau. Luna: Sau. That's a cute word. Lucas: It is. And finally, gris – pig. Gris. Luna: Gris. Sounds a bit like 'grease' but with a rolled r. Lucas: Yeah, careful with the r. Gris. Let's practice all four together. Repeat after me: ku, hest, sau, gris. Luna: Ku, hest, sau, gris. Lucas: Great. Now let's use them in simple sentences. 'Jeg ser en ku' – I see a cow. Jeg ser en ku. Luna: Jeg ser en ku. Lucas: Good. 'Hesten er stor' – the horse is big. Hesten er stor. Luna: Hesten er stor. Lucas: You can say 'sauen er hvit' – the sheep is white. Sauen er hvit. Luna: Sauen er hvit. Lucas: And 'grisen er rosa' – the pig is pink. Grisen er rosa. Luna: Grisen er rosa. That's easy to remember because gris and rosa rhyme a bit. Lucas: They do! Now let's imagine we're on a farm. You look out and say, 'Jeg ser en ku og en hest.' I see a cow and a horse. Luna: Jeg ser en ku og en hest. Lucas: And then a sheep walks by – 'og en sau.' And a pig – 'og en gris.' So the whole farm: ku, hest, sau, gris. Luna: Jeg ser en ku, en hest, en sau og en gris. That's fun. Lucas: You're a natural. Let's do a quick quiz. I'll say the English, you say the Norwegian. Cow. Luna: Ku. Lucas: Horse. Luna: Hest. Lucas: Sheep. Luna: Sau. Lucas: Pig. Luna: Gris.
