Transcript
- 0:07This is Chuck's Cantina podcast, where anything and everything is up for discussion.
- 0:15And now here's your barman, Chuck O'Donnell. It looks like international copyright boss.
- 0:27It's not it. Oh he what's up, brother? What's up?
- 0:37Brother? Oh my god, dude, what's up brother? Special Team Special
- 0:41Plays? Do you hate me? Now? I like had heard of it,
- 0:52Like I didn't know it's so ban I can't even bullshit. I didn't
- 0:57know about that whole fucking last week like I heard, I heard the Special
- 1:02Tea such plays. But I know the full except of what the hell it
- 1:03was till this last week when I actually looked it up because h O G.
- 1:08Patron actually told me about it, and then I saw the whole thing.
- 1:11Hey, good for the kid again. If we all could do what
- 1:15he was doing, we all doing a heartbeat. Good for him, you
- 1:17know what I mean? He has something that caught on. So, my
- 1:21brother in Christ, the red is too damn high? Uh or God bless
- 1:26America at truxteena your social TEXI teach dot com. How are you it's been
- 1:30It's been a while. Uh may survive out of here? Yeah, And
- 1:41it's fucking crazy in the mean streets of Milwaukee. Yeah, bro, it's
- 1:47it's uh, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ. What's funny is I'm a place
- 1:56for a new job. You're all right into it? Huh Yeah, I
- 2:00already. I already put in my h several weeks notice. So my my
- 2:07last day is next Friday, and I'm probably gonna be making my new at
- 2:13the at the opportunities that I've been looking at that I'm looking at upwards of
- 2:16sixty to sixty five k. The thing is, I'm looking to spend less
- 2:21on rent and get something as nice or nicer, which is impossible. And
- 2:27the rent has got up about two hundred bucks across the board since I moved
- 2:32into this current apartment. Jesus. So the only way to uh, to
- 2:38live affordably and near be near the city is not live in the city.
- 2:44But still it's it's almost possible. What's crazy to me is that like a
- 2:49lot of like I'll see like the the lofts, they are super affordable.
- 2:53I'm like, oh cool, and then it's affordable housing. And I'm like
- 2:55a thousand dollars is affordable housing, Like that's what I can afford. And
- 3:00I'm making way past their like income eligibility. They won like five people stuffed
- 3:07into this uh like into these two bedroom affordable apartments. I said it when
- 3:14the Bucks one years ago and they started doing townovations, like Milwaukee is gonna
- 3:17get this thing. And by the way, this isn't just walking it everywhere
- 3:21is doing this. Yeah, but they're gonna get this. Uh well,
- 3:25I don't say this stuff they're gonna get They're gonna get this thing in there
- 3:29ass thinking oh, we're Chicago, we can start charging They really do,
- 3:34they really think that way, and it is so annoying. Oh yeah,
- 3:37Like I I remember I went to uh oh what was this sound? Was
- 3:40on Milwaukee. I was there a couple Actually, I was there a couple
- 3:44of months ago. I went to see Bert Kreischer and it was through work,
- 3:49so like, you know, there was a raffle. I won tickets
- 3:52and all that stuff. Yeah yeah, yeah, so our drinks and everything
- 3:54were camped. But like I was just having to go to the bathroom,
- 3:57like you know what, I'm gonna walk by? What are they charging here?
- 4:00You know the finser form it is one of the relatively cheaper stadiums and
- 4:04stuff like that. But then like I just remember, like I actually bought
- 4:09it someone I knew that was at the show and I asked, I'm like,
- 4:12hey, let me ask you the curiosity. How much is parking here?
- 4:15And he's like, oh, it's like forty Like wait what He's like,
- 4:18it's forty bucks? Like forty bucks for what? Are they gonna clean
- 4:21your car and do your all change while you wait? But while you're in
- 4:25New York show, Like holy Shit's what's crazy to me is it's either all
- 4:30these nice like apartments are either affordable housing or the marker rate is like three
- 4:36times what the affordable rate is. So if it's like a thousand, it's
- 4:41anywhere from like twenty five to thirty to like three K. And I'm like,
- 4:45stupid, I wish I wish I had a degree so I can make
- 4:50like at least seventy K a year. But no, it's just it's getting
- 4:57to the point, and it's getting to the point like where you're seeing like
- 5:00these funny like on like tiktoks and all that stuff, like what they're like
- 5:03going through the apartments like oh, here's what the cheapest place in New York
- 5:08is, And it seems like I swear to God, I'm seeing, here's
- 5:10the cheapest place in New York is and the place is getting smaller and the
- 5:13rent's going up more. It's like, wait, I just saw the same
- 5:15video last week from a different guy, different other side of Manhattan, and
- 5:19it's a smaller place like like and like I'm just so like there's playing places
- 5:28twenty I mean, like twenty minutes from downtown. If I go to like
- 5:32West Dallas or Tosa Greendale, like Francis, there's there's. Yes, there
- 5:39is a lot of apartments that if you go twenty twenty five minutes outside the
- 5:44city superfortable. But bro, I don't know anything other than downtown. I
- 5:48don't feel comfortable living anything outside downtown. If I'm gonna go live outside of
- 5:55down to Minkee as well, I might as well go live closer to like
- 6:00a No Show or back like that's somewhat more closer to like my friends and
- 6:03family. Like the whole point of living in Milwaukee was that it's affordable,
- 6:08and now it's just the economy how it is becoming Chicago. Yeah, and
- 6:13then like everyone and then if you talk to a booper, they're like,
- 6:15well, on my day, you should be able to afford this as long
- 6:18as you work five jobs and kill yourself, and as long as you love
- 6:23those bees where it's like like you're, hey, you're having a hard time
- 6:27living in Milwaukee. You know what you should have done instead of, you
- 6:30know, going to class in two thousand and eight, you should have been
- 6:33buying houses at the fine at the fine age of twelve years old, you've
- 6:38been able to buy three houses. Instead of taking two hours to yourself a
- 6:42day. You should be working three jobs and saving it all the same time.
- 6:46It'll all pay off and fit when you're sixty. My brother in Christ,
- 6:50you you worked one job, you worked at McDonald's, and could afford
- 6:56a four bedroom apartment and then maybe just maybe had to work a second job
- 7:01till for your summer home. Fuck. But not even like I'm so tired
- 7:05of as you say, my brother in Christ. Not even that I talked
- 7:10about this with og Patron, is that the last week or two weeks ago
- 7:13we were discussing like just like we're just going like a little bit of financial
- 7:16stuff. This actually might have been off air with shag Zilla. We were
- 7:21just like a common thing that we talk about lately is like what them And
- 7:25again it really shows our age, which sucks because you like, we feel
- 7:29we're not that we're not that old man, We're not that old. We're
- 7:31literally we're not that old. I mean, yeah we're I mean we'll be
- 7:34seven years old, so we'll be fucking manchilled. But that's besides the point.
- 7:38But like what the McDonald's value menu used to be, Like, it's
- 7:43so stupid that, like, you know, like I said, I used
- 7:46to go to McDonald's get two mcchickens, a fry, and a coke for
- 7:48like what six bucks? Yeah? Five six bucks? What's that run?
- 7:51You now? Fifteen twenty if you're lucky, right, it's so well,
- 7:58it's what have you used the app? You can make it fourteen? Shut
- 8:01the fuck up the fuck well, And people wonder, and people wonder,
- 8:11Well, we'll get to the sloper of view here in a little bit.
- 8:13Yeah, but their workers are making twenty dollars out now, and the and
- 8:16the fucking billionaire owner is still making billions, just like he was fucking ten
- 8:20years ago when he was still fucking taking advantage of all his workers. Oh
- 8:24shut I legitimly don't know his name, and even if I did, I'm
- 8:28not gonna mention the dip shit. I'm not gonna mention the dipshit. And
- 8:31yes I'm gonna say that again that recommended this. There was a game developer
- 8:37or director rather he I think he's out of it, not like out of
- 8:39it. I think he like left where he was working, shocking, and
- 8:43he and I might be given the story some company might be dealing this,
- 8:48but I'm just going offter what I read, of course, off the internet.
- 8:50So like it must be true that some like former Giant game directors like,
- 8:54you know, what we should do to help the game guys making games.
- 8:56We should set up a thing where you were the people who buy the
- 9:00games can tip them. It's like, hey, motherfucker, how about you
- 9:03just pay them a livable wage and then stop firing them the second they make
- 9:07the game and then oh we gotta make we gotta make profit or net revenue.
- 9:11So we're gonna fire all these people. And I'm gonna double my salary
- 9:16just because like essentially I made the quota for my bonus, like and get
- 9:20it, like, hey, that's what it's not what It's not about what
- 9:22you know or it's not about what you've what's it's not about what you've earned.
- 9:24What we negotiate, but like the fuck man like like like like I'm
- 9:30fortunately, I'm fortunate to live where I live, in my home and stuff
- 9:33like that. But just like I see, like I just see like some
- 9:35of the things that like where it costs. Like again, like I've I'm
- 9:39not gonna lie to you. The other day at the grocery store, I
- 9:41bought a thing of chicken breasts for the first time. And I don't know
- 9:43how long. And during the pandemic obviously prices got kind of went up and
- 9:48everything and stuff like that. But like I can go buy a giant thing
- 9:50of chicken breasts for maybe like what twelve bucks if that. Now it's like
- 9:56twenty for just three and they're wondering why I was America do healthiest country in
- 10:03the world. It's like, well, because you know, we could actually
- 10:03eat if it's frozen. I saw there was like a there was like an
- 10:09article on new uh here or now this or whatever. Yeah, and I
- 10:15didn't I will be fair, I didn't read. I didn't watch or read
- 10:18the whole thing. But basically, the new luxury, the new millennial gen
- 10:22z luxury is groceries, Like it's a luxury like bro they want us eating.
- 10:30This is how like, this is how people think. I like,
- 10:35and I have my discussions my family too, because my family does well off,
- 10:39but like I'm the run of the family. And they're like, well,
- 10:41you should be eating like right, Well they don't say this, but
- 10:43like people expect everyone well to save money, you should be eating rice and
- 10:48beans and like chicken, and you should stay in your teeny tiny, four
- 10:52hundred square foot apartment. And we have five roommates and work three jobs,
- 10:56like, but that's not a life, like yes, am i am?
- 11:01I Do I pay a premium to have a two bedroom to myself? Yes?
- 11:05And there is a premium to having a two bedroom to yourself. Should
- 11:09I be able to be fine with a one bedroom? Yes, But like
- 11:13the point is it shouldn't be unreasonable to have an apartment to yourself one or
- 11:20a two bedroom, a decent sized two part And I don't even have a
- 11:24big two bedroom tucking contest this. It's it's an okay size. I'm not
- 11:28gonna lie to you. It's a nice apartment. It's a tight two bedroom
- 11:31two bedroom tights keep it tight, so like I barely fit my computer desk
- 11:39in here, and yes, oh, you can get a smaller computer desk.
- 11:41Again, that's not the point. That's not the point. The point
- 11:43is it shouldn't be unreasonable to afford an apartment like mine or slightly bigger for
- 11:48one person by themselves if you're making sixty k, anywhere from fifty to seventy
- 11:54K. But it's just not anymore. It's just it's it's now, we're
- 11:58all we all have to live with ten people just to be able to afford
- 12:01anything and just to put into your savings, right, and then you have
- 12:07to suffer for thirty years for maybe a chance at buying a house before black
- 12:11right black Rock buys them all out and starts renting them, renting them Like,
- 12:16that's just insane to me. You know, let's move on from this
- 12:18because I'm only going to go in a Dowurs fial. I love it,
- 12:20though, Man, you just come right in with the fucking guns blazing.
- 12:24Well, we didn't get to it really quick. What do you, oh,
- 12:28lest complain? Least complain? And I have to call I had to
- 12:31call each fucking leasing office an agent ten times and email them ten times just
- 12:37to get a one like yeah, fly and hold the thing. Follow up
- 12:41after after I answer whatever question they have, like it's just ridiculous, dude.
- 12:46And then they're never available on weekends and they expect me to take like
- 12:50four hours two to four hours off during like the middle of the work week
- 12:54to go check out the apartment that I may or may not have the chance
- 12:58of getting. Like it's just done. It's the whole system is stuff I
- 13:01will never forget. Really quick lessing on this. I lived in Milwaukee in
- 13:03a couple of years, but uh, my friendly and I we were looking
- 13:07for apartments, and obviously my wife loved this, but you know she's like,
- 13:11I trust your guys judgment. I couldn't tell you the name of these
- 13:15apartments. If you're in the Milwaukee area and you're by the Pick and Save
- 13:20downtown the apartments behind there, you know what I'm talking about. I'll never
- 13:22forget. We went to these apartments and we did one showing in like it
- 13:26was like their studio kind of like, oh, here's how it looks.
- 13:30Like it's just like like a random like setup, like it's not a natural
- 13:33apartment, and like we and we literally had to like I'm not gonna say
- 13:35Nickel, that we did like literally be like look we're not talking unless we
- 13:39see like an apartment like how it looks now, like I don't want to
- 13:41see I don't want to see you stud that you set up, like I
- 13:45want to walk into a random apartment that like you have told right before you
- 13:50the landlord special because I want to see like, okay, how many cracks
- 13:52are in the wall and shit like that, and like that took forever.
- 13:56And then we go in there and they're like, all right, are you
- 13:56just in a camp application? Like you know what, Well, we'll take
- 14:00one to go and we'll be in contact, like and they'll be like,
- 14:01all right, that'll be thirty dollars like for what oh for you apvacation feet
- 14:05and well, you know, I look at you said bye, he just
- 14:11walked out, Like what is That's another thing, And that's another thing I
- 14:16can go on to kind of what are the what are these fees? Like
- 14:18what is this processing fee? Processing? What processing? What? What are
- 14:22you processing? Adding to you? And then you're throwing it in a draw
- 14:26like what oh you the printout was two cents, not even fifty dollars?
- 14:33Like anyways, moving on, what do you? What do you drink?
- 14:39What are you? What are you drinking coming on from the terrifying dystopian world
- 14:46that we are living in and ever revolving the sopia world that we live in.
- 14:50Oh, drinking room tempt issue because it's not sitting out front. Well,
- 14:58I am being a psychopath because I have to work after this. I
- 15:01am drinking cold brew, I am drinking coffee. I was gonna have a
- 15:07beer, but I have to work a few more hours this evening. You're
- 15:11crazy. You're one dude again. It's like I said, like when you
- 15:18like, i know, like around the holiday season, I was like,
- 15:20yeah, we'll be doing the former time when they're taking away and they're like,
- 15:22no, we're not. It's like, oh, when those checks come
- 15:26in, it's like it kind of helps with the bills show when you're trying
- 15:28to tie your floors and you're you know, I have a stack of bills
- 15:33that come in because I'm always buying people's presents because I'm a nice guy.
- 15:35You are, you are, You're a very nice lad. You are.
- 15:39I'm saying a fucking holiday one dollar holiday card and I don't even have I
- 15:48can't afford to take time to write something individual freach person, So I'm just
- 15:52gonna have to outsource it to a dude, Just just do the just do
- 15:56what is it? The Joey Tribuani special, you know, coupon good from
- 16:00one good back robe from Crispi five Chris chris By five a four ten version
- 16:11of five. Anyway, anything else going on with you other than that Bullshit's
- 16:17my catching off fighting and trying to scare the shit out of me. Sorry,
- 16:21other than trying to find a job and looking for an apartment because a
- 16:23movie soon. Really, you'll figure I don't live here. My cats are
- 16:32literally fighting being there. Why are you guys? Why do you guy gonna
- 16:33do this ship whenever I'm working on something anyway, So now get into it
- 16:37when we're here to talk about today. Appreciate coming on and again I'm lead.
- 16:41It's been a while since been. I mean, you've you You and
- 16:42I talk almost every day and like you've had a lot of stuff going on,
- 16:45and it's all good. What the fuck are you too doing? Sorry?
- 16:51Here's the funny last year, last thing. Then we'll get to the
- 16:53slurp review. So my wife she is currently she's traveling some friends for a
- 16:59bet that party and stuff like that, and uh, I've been trying to
- 17:03get like the house clean them and stuff like that, because we've had a
- 17:04lot of projects and stuff like that going on. And I swear to you,
- 17:08I've said on the podcast before, my cats they have anxiety. They
- 17:11we have food that has like medications in it to like help them stuff like
- 17:15that. I swear to you though, the second that, like I sit
- 17:18down to do something that I want to do, like this podcast, I
- 17:22haven't gained in weeks. It's it's just been like it's it's it's also it's
- 17:26like it's just because the time, it's also been like a choice, like
- 17:27hey, I'm just gonna land the couch and just take a nap. But
- 17:32anyway, every time I'm gonna do something I want to do my cats again,
- 17:36it's like those like fucking memes. For like the second I get comfortable,
- 17:37it's like, oh, instead of like three o'clock in the morning,
- 17:40just like, let's just act like assholes now and just start running over shit.
- 17:45I'm gonna tell you really quick, Renay, I'm not a guy that,
- 17:47like, I mean, every person has nightmares and stuff like that.
- 17:49I've you know, I've had those namemores where I go, WHOA, what
- 17:52the fuck? My cat this morning. So I have this metal water bottle.
- 17:56I talked about the corsicles I got when we were Disney. I have
- 17:59this Chubacca corsicle, shocking, A Star Wars bottle, shocking, I know.
- 18:03And I filled it up and for some reason, my cat's must have
- 18:07been fine all of the night. I didn't wake up. And I'm not
- 18:10joking when I tell you my cat knocked over this water bottle so aggressively.
- 18:14I'm not showing you I thought someone broke into my house. It took me
- 18:19like an hour and a half to fall back asleep, because I'm telling you,
- 18:22like, I didn't think my heart, like you know, not at
- 18:25what I have a pretty good heart. I didn't think my heart. I
- 18:26didn't think my heart could beat that fucking fast, fucking as everything becomes terrifying,
- 18:33fucking assholes. Anyway, So why we're actually here, Uh you saying
- 18:38any good movies lately? Yeah? We saw one together recently. Well it
- 18:44was it was okay, good movie. I will say this, so perhaps
- 18:49talking about we saw and I and I'm and again I've been saying it for
- 18:52weeks. I'm gonna see it. I'm gonna see it. I'm gonna see
- 18:55it, and then Renee being the Renee, being the good bro that he
- 18:57is, he's like, sound day this time be there, like, oh
- 19:02okay, we saw Godzilla versus con New Empire. And here's what I will
- 19:11say. This is, of course wasn't made by Toho, so it wasn't
- 19:15as you know, is it gonna win an oscar like Minus Wounded? Probably
- 19:19not no, But the legendary movies we It's always been said that, like
- 19:25the thing that gets most annoying about these movies is the human effect bullshit they
- 19:30try to do. They try to get you really connected with these characters to
- 19:33the point where especially we've seen the first movies that joke about like Godzilla's and
- 19:37is not even in his own movie because he's like in like what ten minutes
- 19:41of that and every time they cut to him, every time it's he's gonna
- 19:45have a huge fight, they cut to the human people doing shit. Anyway,
- 19:48still a good movie, though this is not that movie. There is
- 19:53a human story. I'm not gonna lie to you. It's it's it's it's
- 19:57a you know, it's a I fight, dumb fun movie. But the
- 20:03fights in this it is non stop, like there's no weird bullshit. There's
- 20:07like there's a couple of downtime things, but like in between the downtime there's
- 20:11shit going on that like it's one again. It's one of those movies where
- 20:14like when I went to go take a quick leak, I was doing like
- 20:18the shit shit shit shit shit. I don't want to miss anything, and
- 20:21I did. I miss one fight, but it's it's a fight that was
- 20:23I saw on TV. So I was an upset, but like, yeah,
- 20:26I am. I was beyond surprise. I know some people have disagree
- 20:33with me. I thought Godzilla versus Cohn the last one, it wasn't the
- 20:37weakest of all the films. I thought it was one of the weakest,
- 20:41But this one, for me was I will say right now, I think
- 20:42it was one of the strongest ones in the entire series. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:48I think it was. I felt I felt it was the weakest of
- 20:53the bunch. Plashemous, uh next to it's tied or maybe sally better than
- 21:03King Kong twenty eighteen. Oh yeah, I just I feel like again,
- 21:11I don't mind the cartoon of it. We all know what the original Godzilla
- 21:19was like, right, and we've all accepted that this has become the early
- 21:25Shoa era Godzilla, and we're fine with that. But I just feel like
- 21:30there was so much potential with the twenty fourteen movie. And again I don't
- 21:34mind it. I don't mind it becoming a little unseious because they focused way
- 21:38too much on the humans, and I controversial opinion. I like the human
- 21:44story in twenty fourteen, but yes, I would have enjoyed much more Godzilla.
- 21:48You know, sometimes it's less is more, but in that case it
- 21:52was. I could have enjoyed another two minutes worth of scenes of Godzilla,
- 21:56Okap, Godzill, King of the Monsters. A masterpiece, truly, truly
- 22:02a masterpiece, and that's the one that gets like the most, like,
- 22:04the most hate, which yet one, because it's the perfect in between between
- 22:10the cartoonity that we have now and the more seriousness I've got twenty fourteen.
- 22:15It was the perfect balance. And then, oh my god, I'm forgetting
- 22:18his name. Who was the director of what the first one? Now,
- 22:26Gareth Edwards did the first Godzilla? Garrett, Yeah, I'm not Gareth Edwards.
- 22:30Michael Daughtry. He was perfect, it was perfect, and then they
- 22:36scared him off. They fucking scared him up, you bastards, damn you,
- 22:48damn it. It was perfect, the perfect goddamn balance of like uh
- 23:00uh Perfitt balance of like showy Kaidu fights but not going overboard and like still
- 23:07having like a a relatively serious human story, but like there was so much
- 23:15potential and now I just feel like Godzilla versus King Kong, I was like,
- 23:21okay, well at least we got Mega Godzilla, and then and then
- 23:25and then for this one, it was just like, oh, here's two
- 23:27bad guys that the minute they they get defeated within like a day of meeting
- 23:33each other, like King of the Monsters, it felt like it felt like
- 23:38it was a week worth of action, right, And this one is just
- 23:44like we squared up within twenty four hours and the and the and the deal
- 23:48was over. Like what like, it just feels like an episode. It
- 23:53doesn't feel like a movie. It felt like like a straight to straight to
- 23:57DVD or straight to streaming movie. Like it didn't feel like a grandiose production.
- 24:06And again like we've all come to accept that this is now show a
- 24:11Eric Gozilla show era, like that kind of production, that kind of theme,
- 24:17that kind of a it's a cheesy kind of thing, choosy, goofy.
- 24:21Yeah, it's not taken seriously, but I understand the fans who love
- 24:26the twenty fourteen movie and to see where this this, the the series is
- 24:32now. It is a tiny letdown. But you know me, I have
- 24:38the same philosophy with with Star Wars good or bad, I'm gonna watch it.
- 24:44I don't have that with Marvel. Marvel I'm not even gonna get into
- 24:48but Star Wars saying Godzilla bad or good, I'm gonna watch it, even
- 24:53if I had to cringe through it, even have to keep my eyelids fucking
- 24:56peeled open. That goddamn by over One show. They had so much potential
- 25:02and they just anyway. But I just I just feel like, who oh
- 25:11no, Winger didn't Winger didn't correct direct King Kong. But I felt like
- 25:15this was my point in this is that I feel like this very goofy version
- 25:23of the movie started with King Kong, the solo King Kong movie. Yeah,
- 25:30now there was there was there some like scary like uh like not appropriate
- 25:37for kids action in that movie, yes, but it's delving into that Marvel
- 25:41like there's a joke every five seconds, and it's like, bro, that's
- 25:47kind of what ruined Marvel. Like it was good for a while, but
- 25:51if you keep doing it, it gets old, man, it gets it
- 25:56gets old. Well, like you have the thing about like with uh,
- 26:06which is kind of funny too, like going on, I'm trying to go
- 26:08off on a tangentbou your king con thing. You're right, because it's funny
- 26:11because Godzilla twenty fourteen was this serious movie and then they made consk on Island.
- 26:17I believe his name is Jordan Voight Roberts was a director. Yeah some
- 26:21by the way, you listen to interviews about it, because he was supposed
- 26:23to originally he was supposed to originally direct Kick con Versus Godzilla, and then
- 26:27they took him out and like he like you can tell he did an NBA
- 26:30because like he pretty much says like they fucking fucked me or something like that
- 26:33without saying that. But that was the way where it's like it's so that
- 26:37serious tone, which here's what's hilarious to Okay, this is when you knew
- 26:42the franchise is going towards that show, which, by the way, there's
- 26:45the show area, but like that's what the that's what make Godsild what it
- 26:48is today. It's what the most popular one is. But it's also the
- 26:51one that's got you know, the fucking most cheesy, you know, Godzilla
- 26:53dancing, God's all doing a fucking drop kick Godzilla talking, which we don't
- 26:57fucking acknowledge that movie, or do we don't acknowledge that part of God's overs
- 27:02A guy again free talks to a Gears in English. See anyway, it's
- 27:11a while watch the show. But like, but and that it's one of
- 27:15those movies where like it's consco Island. Okay, you have a cast.
- 27:18You have Tom Hitdlson, you have Samuel Jackson, you have John Goodman,
- 27:22you have Brie Larson. All, I mean other than I don't know about
- 27:26uh Samuel, but they've other than Hilson, all have been in Academy discussions
- 27:33and they were doing it like in between a serious and like goofy, Like
- 27:36that movie starts off very seriously, like as it goes on and on and
- 27:38on and on, it just got so silly. But like and I liked
- 27:41and I enjoyed it. But then like I finally got to watch the Monarch
- 27:45Sharkark Monarch on Apple and it's phenomenal. But don't run it. No no,
- 27:52no, no no no, I won't, but I will no,
- 27:55I will tell you this. It is that I think that is the Apple
- 27:59TV series Monarch. That is what they wanted the twenty fourteen Godzilla to be
- 28:03because it's mostly about the human story. But it's a story that like you
- 28:08can get behind and then when there is a monster scene, it's worth it.
- 28:14It's enjoyable. Now, I'm not gonna lie to you. What's annoying.
- 28:17The one thing I'll say it's not. It's a kind of it's a
- 28:18mini sport. It's not really spoiler. If you watch a show, you
- 28:22saw it. There's like one mention of the show, which is funny.
- 28:29There's like one and the godsil versus Calling. There's like one mention of the
- 28:32Monarch show, which is funny because the movie literally tight the show ties it
- 28:36into the movie we just saw. So it's just like okay, I mean,
- 28:42I can get It's like I can get why they didn't mention it.
- 28:45But it's like the same time, it's like why didn't they mention anything because
- 28:47it's like it's like it's a you know, like okay, if you watch
- 28:49if you if you're a fan, or if you're if you're a guy,
- 28:52go into this blind and you've never seen any of these movies or anything like
- 28:56that, and you start off watching the Monarch show and then you go to
- 28:59Godzilla for con I guarantee the person who go, wait a minute, where
- 29:03are all the people that were involved with this? Why aren't they in here?
- 29:07And the same can be said about the show for Monarch with Godsliver,
- 29:11because again some of the people from Godzilla Versus called the first one, we're
- 29:12in this one as well. But yeah, no, it's it was fun.
- 29:18Again, it's a Godzilla movies. I'm not expecting to you know,
- 29:19Like again, did I walk into Minus one thinking there's gonna be a fucking
- 29:22all time classic? No? But it is. I I just I hope.
- 29:33I just hope that with the next Godzilla project, whatever it is,
- 29:40there's a little bit more stakes obviously, And me and Chucks have had long
- 29:45discussions about this. We would like to see Space Godzilla. Then we would
- 29:49like to see the series end with Destroya Maybe if there's one or two other
- 29:53movies in between, that right, awesome. But I feel like I I
- 30:00feel like they've taken out. They've taken out the capacity for stakes because they
- 30:07found all these all these uh hidden civilizations. So like how many more hidden
- 30:15civilizations can you show that show like Lord to other monsters? You know?
- 30:19So like here's why I don't think it's just gonna be two more movies because,
- 30:25like I said, the two guys, I mean, if you're again,
- 30:27I'm a huge guys, a little fan. And like the thing that
- 30:30Renee told me, I won't spoil I mean we could spoil it because this
- 30:33is a still review. But like, wasn't Shimo, wasn't monsters name.
- 30:37She was a concept character from way long ago. Right, They've changed they
- 30:42changed it a lot, but like he was a constant, but it was
- 30:45there was an original idea behind it. Yeah, And like I said,
- 30:48like I think with that, like if they're willing to do that or have
- 30:52essentially a giant fucking chimpanzee be the other the main antagonist, Like they're gonna
- 30:57do more of these because again, and I think it's one of the season
- 31:00where Godzilla's hot right now, Like I wait you would, Yeah, it
- 31:03is. God's looking to make you know, a billion dollars. No,
- 31:06but last I checked it was close to half a billion. And here's the
- 31:11thing. There are Marvel movies that go on in the last couple years that
- 31:12haven't even touched that. Yeah, and we're talking about we're talking about a
- 31:15silly movie where a fucking monkey and a giant lizard fight each other. I
- 31:21just, I just I guess what I want is to go back it's got
- 31:26It probably won't happen. I mean, maybe they will for the last movie
- 31:30in the series, but I would like to go back to that feel of
- 31:34King of the Monsters, right of that, like there is a serious threat
- 31:41and Godzilla has to rise to the occasion where like Mega Goodzilla was kind of
- 31:48a threat, but you knew like if Godzilla really had to, I guess
- 31:53he like he could go into his burning form and destroy Mecca Goodzila, Right,
- 32:00But like I guess, you can't go out. You can't go all
- 32:02out in every movie. I do like that the new form that they gave
- 32:07him, but I just felt like it was wasted on this movie. I
- 32:13don't want them to be treat him like Goku, where he has a new
- 32:15ultimate form every single time. That's so true though, he's becoming Gok.
- 32:22Yeah, he has a blue version of Pink version of red version. Well,
- 32:25we gotta saw toys, buddy, Like, come on now, like,
- 32:29gee, we've only had if we only like five gods little movies,
- 32:30how can we make more funk goals out of this shit? Okay, what
- 32:34do we do make aim Pink? I just hope at the very least,
- 32:38if if they don't give me any of this, at the very least,
- 32:43if you can end it with Destroyer and it being somewhat serious or somewhat steaks
- 32:49heavy and Gazilla sacrifices himself, then I will be happy. So make all
- 32:55your other come up, with all your weird side characters that were never present
- 33:00before. That's fine, whatever, but at least give me destroy it at
- 33:05the very end and give me a tearful goodbye to Godzilla. That's that's all
- 33:09I asked. See his lan as he he's making money. It's But again,
- 33:13I second, because, like I said, it's gonna get to the
- 33:15point where we're gonna start getting that like Godzilla fatigued fatigue, fatigue, fatigue.
- 33:22I don't want it. I don't want to reach that point, although
- 33:23I would love to constantly get Godzilla material. Listen, Godzilla to me has
- 33:30always been my first love. But I've always appreciated what limited amount of material
- 33:37we have where Star Wars there's because it's Godzilla just focuses on Godzilla. That's
- 33:44the whole point. It's about Godzilla. It's about this giant monster that helps
- 33:49the defense Earth. Well, even though he kills most of the humans,
- 33:53but he doesn't more humans than He's going to save the world. But he
- 33:59goes like France and he kills like one hundred people going through the river.
- 34:04Friend's okay because got to the same day. You know, like you know,
- 34:07there's one hundred people dead. But like, the whole difference between Godzilla
- 34:12and Star Wars is Star Wars. There's so much lore to make so many
- 34:15stories and to make so much content from Where's Godzilla. It's just really using
- 34:23the characters from before because that's what people want. People want to see the
- 34:28monsters from before in a new style. We really don't care for new enemies.
- 34:32Now. If you make a really cool new enemy, awesome, But
- 34:37like a monkey that got defeated and literally in a span of like fifteen minutes,
- 34:44not even as soon as he lost his crystal like or not even like
- 34:50literally from the minute they got to the surface till like when he gets frozen
- 34:54and smashed. I think it's literally like fifteen minutes or less, right,
- 34:58So, like I want the movies that, like the whole entirety of the
- 35:04movie is like them dealing with the problem and not just solving it in fifteen
- 35:09seconds. Well, and here's another thing too, it's you essentially already broke
- 35:21the glass and you've used already used two out of four of Godzilla's all time
- 35:25like Villains, and in those movies, I mean, say what you will
- 35:30about King of the Monsters, King of Dore in the movies of all the
- 35:35monsters, and they that they fought that is the most terrifying as the one
- 35:37where you feel like it pollses the most threat, which makes sense considering how
- 35:42much of a backstory they gave him Mega Godzilla. I mean like, yeah,
- 35:45he kicked Godzilla's ass and King con helped spoiler King Gon helped them to
- 35:49feed him, which is like okay, but it made it look like legitimate
- 35:51threat. But like this one, like like you knew like the whole point,
- 35:54like all the second he loses that Crystal Gigi and then like the Mutos,
- 35:58it's like Okay, so what they're Godzilla's trying to kill them because all
- 36:04and they're just trying to stop him so they can pork some more like that's
- 36:07all, that's all they're trying to do. But it's just it just it
- 36:10felt like essentially the monsters they've created is kind of going Rene Saint have not,
- 36:15not that they haven't been like a threat, but you're just like,
- 36:17Okay, it's not as serious. And now you've already like like okay,
- 36:22like the Marvel uh Library going like like with Renaissan is insanely large. Now
- 36:29is Godzilla that large? No, in terms of like the amount of people
- 36:30they can know. But the problem is there's so many different characters you could
- 36:34try to use that It's like when you get past a space Godzilla, which
- 36:42spoiler, they kind of pretty much I'm not gonna say get away, but
- 36:45look, if you watch it, there's a lot of pretty much. It's
- 36:47pretty much you're saying, hey, he's coming without saying he's coming, so
- 36:52I I. But the problem is like once they get rid of him and
- 36:54then destroy it, it's like okay, like oh here comes guy, and
- 36:58it's like if or God's up and you're like not that guy gans a bitch.
- 37:00He's a bad aspects like a parody there too, It's like he's a
- 37:02bitch. It's like what are we what are we doing here? What I
- 37:08mean? But I think like in terms of Destroyer is way more with a
- 37:15threat or not way more, but it is a bigger threat than Goadora because
- 37:19Goodra is just like he has the capacity to control all the monsters and Recavic,
- 37:24but destroy. His whole fucking purpose is to like multiply multiply and to
- 37:30like destroy the world. So like, I feel that that's why he's held
- 37:37in such a high regard, at least for me. I just love his
- 37:40design and I just love I love that original high seat era ending where got
- 37:47Sill sacrifices himself. But I if I mean, I don't know who don't
- 37:55know is if executives we'll overhear this, But I just ask that we don't
- 38:00turn this into Marvel and we don't have twenty chapters. I love Godzilla.
- 38:06Do I want more content, Yes, but you have to understand we're all
- 38:09getting fatigued. Did we all enjoy the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Yes, we
- 38:15loved it because it came to a good conclusion and then you kept it going
- 38:20and then you kind of cheapened what it was. I feel like there was
- 38:27a lot better ways to handle the multiverse than that has been now. I
- 38:31think Spider Man all the Sony anime films have done a great job of showing
- 38:39that potential, but I feel like it's so costly to do it in live
- 38:45action, so they're just they're just producing a cheap version of it and being
- 38:51like, oh, it's the multiverse, Like, never cheapen your product.
- 38:55Never. But I mean that's that's what society is today, you know,
- 38:59just a product to make whatever money you can. Well, and you're right
- 39:02though, because again that's just it's just the movie. The movie industry is
- 39:06coming back up. It's like I said, like there's that shoot if anything
- 39:09like the Marvel fatigue is the movie industry's game because like I said, like
- 39:13this movie made have a billion dollars that anyone but you rom Com made like
- 39:17a more than a quarter. And it's just they're making all this money because
- 39:22like it's like people are like the whole thing of like people of our getting
- 39:25tar for superhero movies. Like it's coming true. But and that's why I
- 39:30think this year with like only having Deadpool, like it's gonna benefit them in
- 39:35the law run because it's just again, there hasn't been any Marvel since what
- 39:39what was it? Echo? Wherever the hell that show was on Marble and
- 39:43dine Pot. I couldn't tell you that show come out, came out in
- 39:45January. I haven't seen it after I have not seen it after Loki I
- 39:52stopped. I never watched You an Invasion. I didn't watch and I I
- 40:00had a big plan to to catch up on all the Netflix series so I
- 40:04could watch the new the new uh Daredevil, Daredevil. I don't even know
- 40:08if I'm gonna do that. It's such a time. No, you know,
- 40:12you don't need to because based on what I like with the new Marvel
- 40:14shows, like they are they are keeping the Netflix stuff. But it's not
- 40:17like it's Netflix like it's it's not like Daredevil Disney Plus season four. It's
- 40:22no, it's it's just a lot of characters of this are played by the
- 40:25same people, but they're gonna put their spin on it. And because you
- 40:29want to, why because they know it's like, hey, how can we
- 40:31get an audience? Because here's the thing, No, offense, No offense
- 40:36any Daredevil fans out there, or punish your fans. I'm a huge Frank
- 40:38Castle guy, believe me, But like, hey, we know these guys
- 40:43are guaranteed to play these characters, right, we know they're gonna put good
- 40:46stuff. So let's just have them keep doing what they're doing because they technically
- 40:50never got their fitting end, if you will, and they can come over
- 40:53here where we actually can write. Not saying the Netflix guys anything good,
- 40:58but like there was some stuff that was really good and there's something that was
- 41:00really bad. Because it's also with what they were allowed to do with this,
- 41:05they had total free realm because I think they have the whole Marvel universe
- 41:07I can play with. So yeah, I think I think what's on the
- 41:12rise right now is science fiction, which I love. Yeah, because we've
- 41:16shown that good actually good movies and not just another episode in the in the
- 41:24multiverse saga. Again. I love the whole concept of a multiverse. I
- 41:30love that, But just the way they're the way they're cheaply portraying it,
- 41:36it's just it's such a letdown, right, But like when you have good
- 41:40science fiction movies, for example, Dune and Dune too like that cinema.
- 41:49That is a movie. And I'm not agreeing. I'm not flagering with Martin
- 41:52Scorszer where he's like, oh, these are like a car. I get
- 41:55what he's trying to say, and in a in a way he is right.
- 42:00But but I feel like the original MCU movies up until after Endgame,
- 42:07it was it was they were fine, even though they were yes, a
- 42:10little o haha, a little funny joke every now and then, like that's
- 42:14fine, you ended a saga. If you had just moved on from that
- 42:19IP, I feel like you could have, you could have been still being
- 42:24able to defend the Marvel series. But but they didn't. They just kept
- 42:30going and kept punt, kept pushing out what they could and it just now
- 42:35it's super hard to defend the series. I say, go back to series
- 42:39like Dune, where one every one movie comes out every two years. It's
- 42:45a banger. It's so well done, it's over produced, so well produced,
- 42:52over the top. The cinematography is amazing, the the the music's amazing,
- 42:58the characters are amazing. Saying that the story is so intrigguering it gets
- 43:01you sucked in, or another good example or of a good science fiction movie,
- 43:07which was even cheaper than Dune the U the Creator. Yeah, oh
- 43:13my god, what a movie. And I'm like on a shoe string budget,
- 43:17Like come on, it just shows you you can still make good movies.
- 43:22Well, you just have to put the time and effort. You don't.
- 43:24You don't need to have two hundred million dollars to make a good movie,
- 43:28because like, okay, like that's a that's the thing. I don't
- 43:30know if you heard, because I know, I mean you're not like really
- 43:32like movie news like I am. But like just to say, it was
- 43:35announced that like a passion project of Martin Scorsese, he wants to do a
- 43:37Frank Sinatra movie. He wants to have uh DiCaprio, no surprise, he
- 43:43wants at to Capra play them. And like obviously, say what you about
- 43:47scorsese movies like some lately have been hit or miss or but whenever it's based
- 43:52on like true events like Wolf of Wall Street with DiCaprio, it's movies that
- 43:57literally remember for a lifetime. But one what's difference between that movie Like that
- 44:00movie costs like two hundred million dollars and it's like, do you really need
- 44:04tw hitter million dollars for a movie about just a biopic movie. But it's
- 44:08like something like the things that when those movies work, they work. But
- 44:13like if anything again, go back to minus one, why did minus one
- 44:16get this huge uprise, this huge like uptick and popular Wheverone's like, oh
- 44:22my god, oh my god. Because it's a movie that was worthy of
- 44:25an oscar, that was only made for fifteen million dollars. Like Renee and
- 44:31I talked about this. However, I will say I did hear that the
- 44:36reason why they were able to make it that cheap is because they basically paid
- 44:42the CGI department and the special effects department like almost nothing. But well you
- 44:49know that for a fact. Here's another thing too though, Okay, as
- 44:52they say as as, but that makes sense. So because the guy who
- 44:55director wrote the film was a VFX artists or not what's the phrase, what's
- 45:00the phrase? Allegedly allegedly allegedly. But here's the thing though too, because
- 45:06obviously movies, how movies are mad in Japan are different than America, Like
- 45:09it's in those secret most movies in the United States, they're special effects.
- 45:14They're outsourced. Yeah, say people with inside there that like work on them.
- 45:16And stuff like that. But majority of like the big ass shots,
- 45:19they're outsourced. And that's like why these last couple of years you've seen like
- 45:22and it's not a secret, it's it's it's a fact you've seen the down
- 45:25like the downfall almost of special effects of some Marvel movies because like, okay,
- 45:29seriously, take a person that's never doesn't really like what you know,
- 45:34like I hate to say, like an older person that doesn't like watch like
- 45:36these, like doesn't pay attention to stuff like this's like like you and I
- 45:38do. Have them watch Avengers twenty twelve, right or like tw yeah,
- 45:45twenty twelve, twenty eleven, and then have them watch and I'm not as
- 45:50big of a hater as most people are, have them watch Love and Thunder
- 45:54and then ask them which movie look better. I guarantee you it's movie from
- 45:58I don't know, twelve years Like, it's just it's just the way it's
- 46:04it's just the way it's going. And like that's why you're seeing all these
- 46:07like special effects. But like now they're making unions like that, which is
- 46:09like, wait, didn't have a union in the first place. It's like,
- 46:10no, they didn't. They're taking taking advantage of so. But it's
- 46:15just it's just gonna be nice now to see like that. A lot of
- 46:19these movies are coming up. But it's like I said, it is that
- 46:22thing where I'm glad Dizzy is doing it is less and more. Less is
- 46:24more, And I hope Godzilla does do that same thing. But the point
- 46:29Renette was saying, like, he hopes like they do two more than then
- 46:32be done with it. The problem is if they're making this much money still,
- 46:37it's not gonna stop you now, he's saying, I don't want it
- 46:38to stop. I don't want to stop. The only thing I want these
- 46:42movies to do is just have better writing. It's like, okay, My
- 46:45biggest great with the film was the human story, like which is always is,
- 46:47but for me, this was the worst human story because it was just
- 46:51like about like the girl from the last movie. Oh, she's connected to
- 46:53the island. They always knew that she, this girl from this island would
- 46:58come free the people from this island and she would spoiler bring the giant Matha
- 47:01up back to life and saved the day. And then she somehow talked to
- 47:06Godzilla in a pyramid like what the fuck? Now? Just fight literally fucking
- 47:10uh Sarah Zawa. Let them fight. That's all I want to see.
- 47:14Like, I literally saw gods and this is legit. Godzilla did a supplex
- 47:16of a fucking pyramid. That's that's all I want. I don't need any
- 47:22other bullshit. Give me Godzilla doing r KOs and stone Colts, Sunners and
- 47:25suplexes off of pyramids that were good and that I got literally one of those.
- 47:29It was awesome. And then fucking king kN speared the ship out of
- 47:32uh Scar Cane at once. It was badass, you know, take that
- 47:36back Godzilla Spirit Car and it was great. But like, and that's the
- 47:43thing, like obviously, like again these movies, No, you don't need
- 47:45to have an enticing story. No, it doesn't need to be Oscar worthy,
- 47:50but the thing they had to, but it would be nice. No,
- 47:52no, no, But here's the point I'm trying to make though it's
- 47:55okay, perfect example Mark going back and hey and know we hit this.
- 48:00Sorry, going back to Marvel. What is the one movie solo superhero Marvel
- 48:06movie that everyone says it is the best because of its story? No,
- 48:10No, Winter Soldier. Oh that is so I'm sorry that is, but
- 48:19it's not. But it's not. But it's not an end of like a
- 48:22it's not an end of what the fuck are they called a phase? You
- 48:23know what I mean? Like, yeah, there's it's a team up right,
- 48:28but it's it's not a crazy more where it's like you have fucking you
- 48:30know, guys from space. No, it's literally just a human Jesus if
- 48:34you just have the fucking uh, the fucking Winter Soldiers stab you. But
- 48:42no, it's not okay, let me let me backtrack to word it better.
- 48:45It's done to me where it's like you have all these guys from space
- 48:47beans, these creased superhos. No, it's just guys with the super serum
- 48:51and guys who are highly trained in combat fighting, and they're telling this really
- 48:55complex, good story like that's all people want, and it's not even that's
- 49:00that's just that's usually what's like commanded of them today because that's what it's supposed
- 49:04to be. It's not supposed to be these Yeah, you can have your
- 49:07cheesy like little one line jokes and stuff like that, but when it's every
- 49:09five minutes, like come on, like, it's not again, it's not
- 49:13nineteen ninety five anymore. It's twenty twenty four. It was great. It
- 49:17was great in the first few first half of the MCU, yes, it
- 49:23was fine. It was like, Okay, it's not taking itself seriously and
- 49:28there's an enticing story. But now now that now that the grand conclusion is
- 49:34gone and you're still doing it right, bro, we get it. You're
- 49:40you're not as serious as DC. You can you can move on with the
- 49:44story. You don't have to tell me another joke. Well, we don't
- 49:46even know what dcs you may now because like I said, now they have
- 49:49James Gunn so like who knows that They're not saying they're gonna become Marvel,
- 49:52But like, you're gonna tell me that Superman's not gonna have that Guardians of
- 49:55the Spin feel on it, which I'd be all four, but it's like,
- 49:59you're tell me that's not gonna have that. It's of course it is,
- 50:01so right now, I'm just I'm just focusing on trying to catch up
- 50:06on anime, trying to catch on shows that I've been pulling out for like
- 50:08a year. I'm focusing on Star Wars, I'm focusing Godzilla. I'm just
- 50:15I kind of after Loki, I just decided, all right, I'll just
- 50:20wait for Deadpool and then that's really it because well it's like just like we
- 50:24have like again, that's the thing like with Star Wars, like the lesson
- 50:27is more, you know, like it's like, okay, Star Wars beig
- 50:30is issue is less is more? Yes, but they announced fifteen hundred things.
- 50:32Only one thing comes out if you're lucky, but like act like comes
- 50:37out in like what to not even two months, and like that's something almost
- 50:39other than the depo. Let's think I'm most hype for and like I'm sorry,
- 50:44like Deadpool, Yes, it is the movie I'm most excited for this
- 50:47year. And it's not saying there's not other good movies coming out this year,
- 50:51but it's like it's it's when your track record prior to that is literally
- 50:55first round knockout. It's like, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna take I'm
- 51:00gonna go on my womir and say this one's probably be a first round knockout
- 51:01to you know what I mean. It's like it's like it's one of those
- 51:05movies or franchises where it's like they would purposely have to make it suck,
- 51:09you know what I mean. But and it's just that's just all people want.
- 51:14They want good quality stuff. And like with these Gods of movies,
- 51:15like yeah, they just want the monsters to fight. Like again, it's
- 51:19just like that human element. It's just it's getting worse. Man and like
- 51:22again, like I'm I'm all for ten more Godzilla movies, but like if
- 51:25the human stories keep getting like this, where it's just like what cause Again,
- 51:29like if you watch the Monarch show and then you go to this,
- 51:31it is a giant, giant downgrade. And by the way, I'm not
- 51:36saying like I'm giving I'm not gonna say my score. I'm giving this movie
- 51:37a high score. I'm not gonna lie to you. But it's just like,
- 51:42come on, people, can we get past this? And again,
- 51:44if the story about the little girl with the moth that is a callback again
- 51:46to the show What Era and stuff like that, but even that the show
- 51:51era little village people talking the math throat that made more sense. This was
- 51:55just so out of left field. That's just like all right, you're just
- 51:59okay. If any you are doing what Marvel has had issues with, you
- 52:02are trying way too hard. You are thinking every person in that theater has
- 52:07seen every single movie and remembers every single part, and you're trying to connect
- 52:10all six or seven of these movies and TV shows with one sentence, and
- 52:15guess what, it didn't work for me. So but hey, they made
- 52:20five hundred or five hundred million dollars and I'm glad, and I'm glad,
- 52:22I'm fucking kidding me. I'm on Godzilla fan and they made it made more
- 52:25money than the fucking Marvels. And what's a norm marble whether they didn't go
- 52:29it made more money, that's on Marvel movies. Like fuck yeah, I'm
- 52:31all for that. But as Deadpool once said, it's just bad writing.
- 52:37So anyway, what would you give this score? I you know, on
- 52:47movie on on first review, on first view, I bel on second viewing,
- 52:54I gave a seven and a half. After thinking about it again,
- 53:00I'm gonna give it a seven. And that's being kind. I just you
- 53:07had to put the line down somewhere if you if you don't, what's the
- 53:10phrase? If you don't, if you stand in for anything, you'll die
- 53:15for If you stand for nothing, you'll die for anything. So I had
- 53:22to say not not the not not what I was hoping for. I still
- 53:29watched it still love Goji, still appreciate it for what it was, but
- 53:34I think we have some work to do on the next one. Sorry,
- 53:40sorry, I give it. Uh oh god, I give it seven?
- 53:52Uh seven? Uh uh? What's it called? Punchline No? Seven seven?
- 54:05Mini Kong numb chucks out Tad going off? What click? They collectors
- 54:14said? He is right in everything you just said. I had only one
- 54:20viewing of this. This is one of those movies where I think if I
- 54:24saw it again, my view my score went change because again I'm a I
- 54:29mean, you give me good big monster fights on all in, but when
- 54:31they actually look good like they did in this movie, I'm even more for
- 54:34it again. The human element, the human story, it's rough. It
- 54:44is it is, it is really because they they're not getting people that are
- 54:47like that, like aren't well known either, which is hilios, Like,
- 54:50they're getting people like you've seen him in other stuff before, you see him
- 54:52good stuff before, and it's just like why, like why do we keep
- 54:55doing this? But again it's just you can't. They can't. You can't,
- 55:00bitch, I mean, they don't. They're not gonna care because again,
- 55:01they made a half a billion dollars for me I'm gonna give this and
- 55:10if this isn't a Christmas ornament, then they're fucking stupid. I'm gonna give
- 55:15this seven Godzilla sleeping in the colosseums out of ten. Yeah, which is
- 55:22they made it. They made it a funk go you know they they made
- 55:25they made that like a joke. I didn't mind that choke. I was
- 55:29like, Okay, I'll give you this one joke. It's cute to see
- 55:32fucking Godzilla as a fucking and a fucking dog or cat sleeping in his little
- 55:39fucking thing. He literally, yeah, he literally gets he literally goes to
- 55:42the colosseum and like does like the little spin thing like all the animals when
- 55:45to get in their bed, and of course, because he's a fucking giant
- 55:49kaiju, he's knockting ship over like like one of the funniest part was Godzilla
- 55:54is a colosseum and there they show this brick wall of effect Godzilla like chilling
- 55:59eating pizza and then Godzilla smashes it, which is like, yeah, like
- 56:01that's literally what he is. But and it's just it was again some of
- 56:06the parts were, if anything, the jokes were too forced. But just
- 56:12like the little dry humor of just like physical comedy. It worked like and
- 56:16that's all you need, like they have. And I can't remember whatever the
- 56:19vet's name was, and I thought he did good. And then of course
- 56:22uh uh the uh fuck uh podcaster conspirators, which he's right, all of
- 56:30all the things, everything he's ever said, like their relationship, it was
- 56:35funny. It was good humor because it was that. It was like,
- 56:37yeah, they like they weren't doing the jokes that were forced. They were
- 56:39just like saying something just naturally funny together. So yeah, I would give
- 56:45it if anything, Yes, you gave it. I know, I said,
- 56:46I'll take the ornamentic. I'll give it seven con. I'll give it
- 56:51seven of CON's teeth out of ten. And you see the movie, you'll
- 56:54understand what that means. So imagine, imagine how let me ask you last
- 56:59question, how do you become a vet of really good full context? Kan
- 57:08has a tooth infection. They knock him out, and a guy comes in
- 57:12with a giant fucking floating thing, takes out his tooth and puts in the
- 57:15metal wall. They give him a filler. What was I gonna say?
- 57:21I don't know what were we gonna say, I there was. I forgot
- 57:27to bring this up earlier. I was more interested in the design and the
- 57:31buildup of the fight of Godzilla versus the the Sea Monster, right, I
- 57:39was more interested in that tiny, little fucking story that lasted a few minutes
- 57:45over than the whole conflict between scar King and Shamu. Oh no, they
- 57:50tried, and they here and there's the other thing scar King like on screen
- 57:52looks badass, but they tried. Okay, here's the thing Thanos, And
- 57:58we keep going back to Marble, but you want to That's why Thanos is
- 58:00one of those Like again, I would say Thanos is in that conversation with
- 58:04Darth Vader. I'll be the first to say that. But why did Thanos
- 58:08become so popular and so feared by the audience? Why did Darth Why did
- 58:15Darth Vader become so feared by the audience because they would show him doing things
- 58:20where they didn't have to explain his backstory. They kept trying to entice you,
- 58:24here's why you gotta fear scar when instead they show this fish this fish
- 58:31monster thing. One sentence you're like, oh shit, that guy's strawan.
- 58:37And yet then when they fought Scar Kane after you know, hyping up like
- 58:40five times, he just ran like a little bitch. But then again it's
- 58:46like he's a monkey, like yeah, but if God will hit him at
- 58:49the top of breath gg my friend. But like this fish was like,
- 58:53oh, you want to punch me in the face. Fuck you, like
- 58:58let's go. But and this little fish like what was like what like not
- 59:01even a three minute fight if that, and it looked really good. But
- 59:05like they made him more of an intimidating foe and like she moved them wrong.
- 59:09She was a badass. But the reason why she mo was so was
- 59:14so strong, like they explained it, and they explained like why he was
- 59:16under scar King's control with the jewels or the the whatever, the crystals whatever,
- 59:22were just going back to that space the space God's all the thing,
- 59:23like you canno tell me that's not a space God's will like clone or some
- 59:27bullshit. But it's one of those things where they did all these they forced
- 59:31all these reasons for you to go this guy is evil, this guy is
- 59:35the bad guy. This guy is the bad guy. And yet you never
- 59:38felt, okay, you never felt once that he was gonna win, Like
- 59:42okay, you are okay, God's God. There was no way. There
- 59:47was just never like a down in my mind there was that Gozilla was gonna
- 59:52win, Carl was gonna win with Mega Gozilla. There was a good fucking
- 59:58chance Gozilla was gonna win, right, it was. It was kind of
- 1:00:00fifty to fifty. But he was beating fucking Godzilla's ass for a while,
- 1:00:05okay, or Godzilly God big chance. Well we have a kid of the
- 1:00:08mont just like Godzilla's the But Godzilla is really the only pro it's Godzill's movie.
- 1:00:13It's no other friend. He's the only protagonist. But yeah, it's
- 1:00:17hard to watch those movies where there's only one protagon. It's like, oh,
- 1:00:21yeah, they're gonna lose. But like some they do. Sometimes some
- 1:00:22movies do such a good job making you think there's a chance they might lose.
- 1:00:27Mm hmm. They're like it could happen, and that's what was.
- 1:00:30But yeah, Scar King was just like okay, Like by the way,
- 1:00:35people people that keep us saying like they're like like they're talking more negatives than
- 1:00:37positives. No, it's a good ass movie. It's fun, it's enjoyful,
- 1:00:40it's a it's a Kaiju cgi fun fest, which is all it's supposed
- 1:00:45to be. But the problem is and and again it's going back to the
- 1:00:49it's not just humans. The writing is like they some of the things they
- 1:00:52say, it's just like I don't care, like you know what I mean?
- 1:00:57Like if okay, for example, here's the perfect way to say it.
- 1:01:00Renee and I both have we both we both of us, I mean
- 1:01:04Rene, we both can eat. We can eat a lot. Okay.
- 1:01:08It's like, Renee, where to sit there and hype me up about this
- 1:01:12burger joint. Oh, Charlie, it's the best burger. It's the best
- 1:01:14burger. It's the best burger. To the point where it's like, all
- 1:01:16right, Renee, I can't wait to try the best burger. It's your
- 1:01:17next Tuesday. Hey man, you're ready for the best burger, Dude,
- 1:01:21I told you last week. Yes, I'm ready for this burger. You
- 1:01:23know what I mean. And then you get there and it's like, okay,
- 1:01:25I've had better burgers from a food truck, like like I don't need
- 1:01:31to hear it thirty times, which is what they kept doing now Obviously this
- 1:01:35though, when they first introduced scar king badass like intimidating because again, I'm
- 1:01:42not gonna lie because, like they they announced this was the main antagonist whenever
- 1:01:45the first trick came, like what a year ago, and everyone's like thought
- 1:01:47for something was, okay, how are you gonna make essentially a weirder looking
- 1:01:53version of con an intimidating foe for Godzilla and con and the way they did
- 1:01:59it it works, but it's like it's just the way they try to explain.
- 1:02:01It's just like, there's so many ways you could have done that.
- 1:02:04But again, seven calm implant teas out of ten, seven I forgot what
- 1:02:12you gave it anyway. Anyways, that's all I got. You got anything
- 1:02:20before we get the hell out of here? Um oh uh uh. To
- 1:02:30all the drugs out there, please, I understand you're under pressure from the
- 1:02:36studios. You know, they have their own fucking bullshit about making money,
- 1:02:40but please don't don't try to push back. Do not sacrifice your quality of
- 1:02:46art or integrity just to appease you know whoever, right, Fight back,
- 1:02:53Fight for what you believe in, fight for the right for your dream.
- 1:02:57There's so little good left in this world, you know, at the very
- 1:03:02least the things that are supposed to keep us distracted while the world falls apart,
- 1:03:07can at least be good. But other than that, Hello Godzilla,
- 1:03:14along lived the King. Can't wait for the next one. And uh yeah,
- 1:03:21that's all I gotta say. And on that note, that is Clicknique,
- 1:03:25click patron Renee. I want to think of for join us today as
- 1:03:29always. You can find us at Chucks Cantina. On your socials Chucks cant
- 1:03:32or let me let me read off the socials first of course, uh Twitter
- 1:03:37x, Facebook, Instagram. Also on LAPS I'm going to open a thread
- 1:03:42soon. LAPS is like a I want to say, like a new version
- 1:03:47like Instagram, but it's kind of like that, but it's I like it
- 1:03:50a lot. Again on your socials truxtangment dot com. I do want a
- 1:03:55quick update mentioned last week about the audio issues. Think of your payation with
- 1:04:00that. I want to think give a huge shot out to the people from
- 1:04:02the Speaker. I've actually had a phone call them about it. I actually
- 1:04:04have had multiple emails of them about it. Per them, they did a
- 1:04:10diagnostic check on like about ten episodes. They didn't find any issues with that,
- 1:04:14so uh, they just give me circommendations regarding to the audio levels because
- 1:04:16they said it's fine on our end and it's fine on my end. So
- 1:04:20again, ladies and gentlemen, when it comes to the ads on the show,
- 1:04:25I leave it open. I say, hey, put everyone show ads
- 1:04:27you want on here. I really don't care, you know. I mean,
- 1:04:29like it's pretty obvious what kind of message we put we try to promote
- 1:04:31on this show and stuff like that. But again, some ad companies they
- 1:04:38you know, again, I don't get to dictate what ads you get in
- 1:04:40Wisconsin. I'm gonna detate what ads you get in Chicago, Illinois. For
- 1:04:44example, Renee, I was once listening to the podcast just to like,
- 1:04:46you know, make sure things sound good for the week. And I was
- 1:04:49in Europe a couple of months ago and I got an advertisement for a Ireland
- 1:04:54insurance company because I definitely need that in chicag Iago, Illinois. But I
- 1:05:00digress. The point trying to make is we all remember the nineties, you
- 1:05:04know, the grace love songs of our generation, where its three o'clock in
- 1:05:06the morning, your TV's at volume six and a blast. For some fucking
- 1:05:10reason, these companies they have the right to set their volume levels how they
- 1:05:14want. And while they might be within the confines of like what even volume
- 1:05:18levels. There are certain ways you can mess with the bass and stuff like
- 1:05:21that to make it sound like five times louder. So I always try to
- 1:05:26put the ads every like fifteen minutes or so. So just for one of
- 1:05:29the best way to say it, I will say I am working on transitions,
- 1:05:31though I do wanted to have the show to be more professionals, so
- 1:05:34you'll know when the ads are coming, So that might be a little bit
- 1:05:36of a warning. But and also one thing I will mention too. It
- 1:05:41also can vary also on what platform using if you I mean, I haven't
- 1:05:45heard of many issues through Spotify or Spreaker. You can find us on Here
- 1:05:49we Go, Nay, you can find us on Amazon Music. You could
- 1:05:53also find us on I would say Google, but they're not. Google Music's
- 1:05:57not anymore. So you go on YouTube music and find chucks Ant. You
- 1:06:00can go on Amazon, you can go on Spreaker, Spotify, iTunes,
- 1:06:05and wherever you go, please leave us a review five stars will be really
- 1:06:08nice. And anywhere else oh not T can think of right now. I
- 1:06:15think Pandora, maybe Pandora, I don't know anyway. At that note,
- 1:06:20I am your favoritepartment hosterer, and they call me Chuck. That is clickety
- 1:06:24Patrick, Jesus clickety clack. Patron Renee. Say that five times fast,
- 1:06:30and we will see you all next week
