AlterNet, republishing ProPublica’s reporting, identifies conservative election lawyer Cleta Mitchell as the Trump insider whose escalation alarms even some allies. In July, Mitchell’s Election Integrity Network received a private White House briefing before President Donald Trump delivered an address repeating election allegations promoted by her network and urging Congress to pass proof-of-citizenship legislation she helped draft.
