- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Long Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and today we are taking a look at the seven
- 0:20Speaker 1: movies that are part of the Spring into Love lineup,
- 0:24Speaker 1: as far as we know at this point, before they
- 0:27Speaker 1: launched this weekend, and we're gonna give you some thoughts
- 0:30Speaker 1: on what's coming on Hallmark and movies and.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Mysteries and movies and mysteries. That's right, I see you
- 0:37Speaker 2: being sneaky there, Walmart, Hallmark.
- 0:41Speaker 1: That is a departure. We typically do not watch movies
- 0:44Speaker 1: and mysteries movies. However, we will tell you why that
- 0:48Speaker 1: is about to change.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 1: First up is A Second Chance at Love, which stars
- 0:57Speaker 1: Gloria Rubin and Eric Lesal, who you remember may remember
- 1:00Speaker 1: as love interests on Er. They have not been on
- 1:05Speaker 1: screen together since Er. But I would like to take
- 1:09Speaker 1: credit for this movie. Me too, Me too, because we
- 1:13Speaker 1: said several months ago, give us second Chance at Love movies.
- 1:17Speaker 1: We used those exact words, I know the story we've
- 1:21Speaker 1: been looking for, and Hallmark kind of did it. They
- 1:24Speaker 1: kind of did it.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Why do you say kind of.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Because when you read the synopsis of this movie. It
- 1:31Speaker 1: is about Alicia and Arnold.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Who are the younger cast.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yes, so okay. Alicia is the child of the characters
- 1:43Speaker 1: played by Eric le Style and Gloria Rubin, who are divorced.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Oh boy, okay, I see where it's going.
- 1:49Speaker 1: So she is having trouble in her marriage. She turns
- 1:53Speaker 1: to her parents for some advice. That's not true. That's
- 1:57Speaker 1: not true at all. That's not what she does. It
- 1:59Speaker 1: says she immerses herself and her divorced parents dating affairs
- 2:03Speaker 1: by setting them each up on a blind date dating app.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'm sure we can see where this is going to go.
- 2:08Speaker 2: They're gonna match on like Tender or something. I'm dying
- 2:14Speaker 2: to see, Like what kind of app they're using, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 2: I'm sure it's.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Gonna be like all the way.
- 2:20Speaker 2: It's going to be mingled, freaking all the way. Worst
- 2:23Speaker 2: movie ever.
- 2:24Speaker 3: But yeah, so I feel like Hallmark was like, well,
- 2:28Speaker 3: we can give you some slightly older people. We have
- 2:31Speaker 3: to temper it with the young people because we're afraid
- 2:33Speaker 3: people will not watch the olds. I totally disagree.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I disagree that they won't watch them, but I do
- 2:40Speaker 1: think that's what they're doing.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Oh, I know, I.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Agree with your statement. I disagree that we won't watch
- 2:46Speaker 2: if they don't have a young starring you know.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Lee, Yeah, I want to relate for sure.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I am forty seven years old. I do not want
- 2:57Speaker 2: to watch the romance of a you know, thirty something.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I want to watch a romance of somebody of my
- 3:05Speaker 2: age who's lived some life and who has kids, and
- 3:08Speaker 2: who's maybe divorced, and you know, that's what I want
- 3:13Speaker 2: to see.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I want to say I would watch this regardless of
- 3:16Speaker 1: whether we were reviewing it, but we will be next week,
- 3:20Speaker 1: next Thursday, come back for our thoughts on a second
- 3:22Speaker 1: Chance at Love.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I gotta tell you this is the one I'm most
- 3:26Speaker 2: looking forward to. Oh.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I would say it's top two for me. Okay, Next up,
- 3:32Speaker 1: we have Just One Kiss, starring Christa Rodriguez and Santino Fontana.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Do you know the very special thing about this movie?
- 3:42Speaker 2: I don't, but I have a little note on Santino Fontana.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So he was the voice of han you but.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Never mind. Okay, sorry, totally bleep that out.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I thought you said it's not the note I have.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It's not. It's not.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But both Stantino and Christa Rodriguez are Broadway veterans, and
- 4:05Speaker 1: what is this movie going to be? It's a musical.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Oh stop it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So they do what classic songs fly Me to the
- 4:13Speaker 1: Moon and something stupid, and Fontana solos it had to
- 4:18Speaker 1: be you, someone to watch over me, New York, New York.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You make me feel so young, and Rodriguez performs over
- 4:24Speaker 2: the Moon. Okay, I am so excited. And this is
- 4:27Speaker 2: why I'm gonna tell you. Santino Fontana was the voice
- 4:36Speaker 2: on the auto audio book of You. You know, the
- 4:41Speaker 2: book You that is now into a Netflix Okay, So
- 4:44Speaker 2: that's how I listened to that book originally before the
- 4:46Speaker 2: show even came up, and I was so drawn to
- 4:50Speaker 2: his voice. It is so good that I cannot wait
- 4:55Speaker 2: for this movie now because I want to watch it
- 4:57Speaker 2: with my eyes closed because his voice is so so good.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Well that is excellent news. While knowing that and that
- 5:05Speaker 1: this movie is basically a musical, it also stars Ileana
- 5:09Speaker 1: Douglas and Aita Tuturo, so we've got some star power
- 5:13Speaker 1: behind this movie. Even though the two leads are relative
- 5:18Speaker 1: Hallmark newcomers. I think they're going to bring some pow
- 5:22Speaker 1: to the screen.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I don't know who Aleanna Douglas is. Do I know her?
- 5:27Speaker 2: I think I might know who she is. She's brunette,
- 5:31Speaker 2: she has like these big brown eyes.
- 5:34Speaker 1: She has one hundred and twenty two acting credits. She
- 5:39Speaker 1: has a ton of guest starring roles. Her face is
- 5:42Speaker 1: very familiar. You absolutely recognize her when she's on screen.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I know I've seen her in a movie Picture Perfect
- 5:50Speaker 2: Jennifer Aniston, but I love that movie. You know the
- 5:56Speaker 2: guy that's in that movie, he's like a comedian and
- 6:00Speaker 2: I can't remember his name right now. He plays the
- 6:02Speaker 2: love interest in that movie, j Moore, J Moore? What
- 6:06Speaker 2: happened to j Moore? We saw him do stand up
- 6:09Speaker 2: and he was not very kind to Jennifer Aniston. Oh no,
- 6:14Speaker 2: I know what it is for me. It's what it's
- 6:17Speaker 2: called to Die For. It's a movie with Nicole Kidman
- 6:22Speaker 2: where she falls in love with the teenager and then
- 6:24Speaker 2: hires that teenager to kill her husband, who's played by
- 6:29Speaker 2: Matt what's his name? And he was in The Outsiders
- 6:32Speaker 2: and something about Mary Matt Dylan, Matt Dylan, and she
- 6:37Speaker 2: plays Matt Dylan's sister. Only I just recently saw the movie.
- 6:42Speaker 1: So that is just one kiss. Next up, the next day,
- 6:48Speaker 1: on Sunday, April third, we have a Hallmark Movies and
- 6:51Speaker 1: Mysteries movie called Always Amore and it stars Autumn Research
- 6:56Speaker 1: and Tyler Hines. And that's how they get me to
- 6:59Speaker 1: movies in Missises.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Seriously, and I'm hang on a second, I'm on the
- 7:04Speaker 2: website and they're not even showing that movie on here.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Fun fact, this movie is executive produced by Giata Dala Rerentis.
- 7:12Speaker 2: That's weird, and no comment to my that's weird.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I mean, is it?
- 7:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It's about an Italian restaurant.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Okay, fine, whatever. Oh no, Tyler Hines has a real
- 7:28Speaker 2: Caesar haircut in this.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not enjoying his haircut in the in the
- 7:33Speaker 1: movie poster. So essentially it's about Autumn Research plays a
- 7:39Speaker 1: woman who is trying to keep her husband's her late
- 7:43Speaker 1: husband's restaurant, and Tyler Hines plays a restaurant fixer who
- 7:48Speaker 1: has many new ideas to save money, enhance the decor,
- 7:52Speaker 1: and change the menu. And you can imagine how this
- 7:54Speaker 1: is going to go. No, we most recently saw Autumn
- 7:59Speaker 1: Research in the Wedding Mail trilogy. I very much enjoy her.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You know, we love Tyler Hines. I'm hoping his pretty
- 8:06Speaker 1: face can overcome the unfortunate haircut.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to this movie. I will watch
- 8:13Speaker 2: it on Movies and Mysteries. Is there a mystery component
- 8:17Speaker 2: to this movie or is it just they're just putting
- 8:19Speaker 2: it over there. I believe it's the latter. I do
- 8:22Speaker 2: not think this movie has a mystery component. As I
- 8:25Speaker 2: read this press release further, it says always a More
- 8:28Speaker 2: is a Gastronomy Road Productions film.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Which I believe is. It says it lists all of
- 8:35Speaker 1: the executive producers. First up as Jedda dal Lorentis, so
- 8:38Speaker 1: I believe she has a production company Astronomy.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Really apparently they produce food food movies. Okay, look the
- 8:50Speaker 2: food better be on point to this movie, right all right?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Next up, Hallmark has not really given this a lot
- 8:58Speaker 1: of information. In fact, act, the page on Hallmark's website
- 9:02Speaker 1: has no photo, no information, just a two line synopsis.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So I've gone to IMDb. They don't even have a
- 9:10Speaker 1: press release out about this movie, and they have one
- 9:12Speaker 1: about every other Spring and to Love movie. So it
- 9:16Speaker 1: appears to be bumped to the wayside. But a royal
- 9:20Speaker 1: runaway romance premieres on Saturday, April ninth. It stars Brandt
- 9:27Speaker 1: dot Tree and Philippa Northeast.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Wow, this is on Movies and Mysteries right?
- 9:33Speaker 1: No?
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh, well, on the website they have a placeholder photo
- 9:38Speaker 2: that is Movies and Mysteries.
- 9:40Speaker 1: So in the app it shows it as on Hallmark Channel.
- 9:45Speaker 2: We will we shall see.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So perhaps they have not decided, but it is on
- 9:50Speaker 1: a Saturday spot, which is the Hallmark Channel spot the
- 9:54Speaker 1: movies and mysteries are showing on Sundays. The website and
- 9:58Speaker 1: the app say two different things. I'll find out.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Brandt Daughtry real cute Poppy was in The Baker's Son, Yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 2: a movie that I did not like.
- 10:11Speaker 1: He was also in Mingle All the Way. Oh, yes,
- 10:15Speaker 1: that's right, another movie you didn't like. I hated that movie.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm not sure that I didn't like him.
- 10:22Speaker 2: No, I like him. I think he's super cute.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Off of Hallmark, he was in Fifty Shades, Freed, Yes
- 10:30Speaker 1: and Pretty Little Liars and Days of Our Lives on
- 10:35Speaker 1: seventeen episodes. He starts alongside Philippa Northeast and She is
- 10:40Speaker 1: an Australian actress and has worked mostly in what appeared
- 10:47Speaker 1: to be Australian TV shows like Bondi, Slayer, Drop Dead Weird.
- 10:53Speaker 1: She's definitely brand new to Hallmark and the synopsis of
- 10:56Speaker 1: this movie is Princess Amelia of Bundberry travels across America
- 11:00Speaker 1: to explore a budding romance with an artist, only to
- 11:03Speaker 1: fall in love with her bodyguard Grady.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Okay, is she an Australian princess.
- 11:09Speaker 1: No, she's a Bundburian princess.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I don't know what that is. You're talking to a
- 11:13Speaker 2: block wall. I don't know what that is.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It's a made up place where. That's all the information
- 11:20Speaker 1: I have.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Okay, So I looked her photo up. She's super cute.
- 11:23Speaker 2: She looks really young, like very young. So I mean
- 11:28Speaker 2: I get that, like she's like this, you know, young
- 11:30Speaker 2: princess or whatever. But listen, these royal movies don't do
- 11:33Speaker 2: it for me at all. I know, they're like you
- 11:38Speaker 2: bread and butter, you love a royal tale? Iugh, boring.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I don't think she's that young. She's in her mid twenties.
- 11:46Speaker 1: She was born in nineteen ninety four, which would make
- 11:49Speaker 1: her twenty eight.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Well, this photo, I mean, she could play a fifteen
- 11:52Speaker 2: year old. She looks so young are we reviewing that one?
- 11:57Speaker 1: It is on the Hallmark channel for god, okay, unless
- 12:01Speaker 1: it gets bumped. If you just better cross your fingers
- 12:03Speaker 1: and it gets bumped to movies and mysteries.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Okay, next step is what?
- 12:08Speaker 1: Speaking of movies and mysteries, On Sunday, April tenth, we
- 12:12Speaker 1: have Curious Caterer Dying for Chocolate, starring Nikki DeLoach and
- 12:18Speaker 1: Andrew Walker.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I mean, I'm only tuning in because I like those
- 12:23Speaker 2: actors so much, but what a terrible name for a movie.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Nikki DeLoach plays a single mom who is thrust into
- 12:31Speaker 1: the role of town sleuth to help solve the friend's
- 12:34Speaker 1: mysterious death. Andrew Walker plays a detective, so they combine
- 12:40Speaker 1: her local knowledge with his detective know how to solve
- 12:43Speaker 1: this crime. Now, I would like to say that Nikki
- 12:49Speaker 1: Deloache's instagram is very tongue in cheek about the like,
- 12:53Speaker 1: has anybody ever experienced death by chocolate? It's goofy, it's silly.
- 12:57Speaker 1: There's very low stakes.
- 12:59Speaker 2: But it's mystery and there's a murderer on the loose
- 13:03Speaker 2: and there's Andrew Walker.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So it is based on two books. The books are
- 13:08Speaker 1: called Catering to Nobody and Dying for Chocolate, both written
- 13:12Speaker 1: by Diane Mott Davidson.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Well, I will tell you, I'm looking at the photo
- 13:16Speaker 2: gallery right now on Hallmark dot com, and there's a
- 13:19Speaker 2: photo of the cast. Yeah, they are on set. And
- 13:25Speaker 2: this set's very familiar. It's like that cabin lodge that
- 13:30Speaker 2: we've seen in a ton of movies last year. Oh yes,
- 13:35Speaker 2: so it's just funny that they use the same place
- 13:38Speaker 2: over and over and over again.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Indeed, I'm looking at these books on Amazon quickly. This
- 13:48Speaker 1: author also has she likes to write about food. She
- 13:51Speaker 1: has a book called Serial Murders.
- 13:54Speaker 2: C E R E A l Oh my God, can't okay?
- 13:57Speaker 1: Sweet Revenge, Last Supper, Killer, Pancake, Fatally Blakey, Grilling Season,
- 14:06Speaker 1: the whole Enchilada, crunch Time, Prime cut, double shot, chopping spree.
- 14:15Speaker 1: She leaned really in the food puts.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Coming soon from Gastronomy Pictures. Right there is a missed
- 14:25Speaker 2: opportunity here, Come on, Giada. This is so weird to me.
- 14:30Speaker 2: First of all, are those books made for adults that
- 14:34Speaker 2: sounds like children's books toddler books?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Oh? They are best selling mysteries.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Wow, I mean okay, and is this they took two
- 14:46Speaker 2: books and made it one movie.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Evidently.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I wonder if it has anything to do with the
- 14:51Speaker 2: books at all other than the title.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I have no idea. Oh I do not plan to
- 14:55Speaker 1: read these books, so we'll never know.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I mean, I really like Nikki de Looch and I
- 15:00Speaker 2: like Andrew Walker. And this is they've been paired in
- 15:04Speaker 2: movies before, together before The Perfect Catch.
- 15:09Speaker 1: That's right, we never watched we were supposed to watch that.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Ye.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Next up is Love Classified on Saturday, April sixteenth on
- 15:17Speaker 1: the Hallmark Channel and its stars Melaura harden Arian, Mandy
- 15:23Speaker 1: Catherine McNamara, and Max Lloyd Jones.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I love Malaura harden as do I. She was so
- 15:34Speaker 2: great on The Bowl Type And I don't know if
- 15:36Speaker 2: it's just because her character was so great. I mean,
- 15:39Speaker 2: she's a great actress, but like I loved her character Jacqueline,
- 15:43Speaker 2: me too. She's in the office. She was recently on
- 15:46Speaker 2: Dancing with the Stars. This other gal Arian Mandy Ariy
- 15:53Speaker 2: Is that how you say her name? I recognized her
- 15:56Speaker 2: from the L word genera Q on each bo Was
- 16:01Speaker 2: that the newer version? Yes, exactly. She's the main player
- 16:06Speaker 2: on that show.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So Melaura Harden. She plays a writer who, according to
- 16:13Speaker 1: those press release, blows back into the lives of her
- 16:16Speaker 1: adult children under the pretense of a book signing in
- 16:20Speaker 1: her hometown. So I think she's starting to she wants
- 16:25Speaker 1: to reconnect with them. She's kind of perhaps meddling a
- 16:28Speaker 1: little bit in their lives, trying to.
- 16:31Speaker 2: For you question, for you, do we think the two
- 16:35Speaker 2: the blonde male and the blonde female in the photo
- 16:39Speaker 2: are her children? Are we to assume that this brunette
- 16:44Speaker 2: is her childhoo who looks nothing like them?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Well, she has three adult children, so I'm going to
- 16:49Speaker 1: assume the three in this photo are her children. That's
- 16:55Speaker 1: weird casting, Okay, So I don't This is what I
- 17:00Speaker 1: going for.
- 17:00Speaker 2: This is what I was hoping. It was two adult children.
- 17:04Speaker 2: And then because this arian Mandy On, she like I said,
- 17:10Speaker 2: is on the L word, and I was like, are
- 17:12Speaker 2: we gonna get a same sex storyline? Here?
- 17:15Speaker 1: We find out that Taylor and Zach, who are played
- 17:19Speaker 1: by Katherine McNamara and Max Lloyd Jones, they explore new
- 17:25Speaker 1: and past relationships through an app that boasts old fashioned
- 17:28Speaker 1: human connection by way of the classified ad Oough and Frankie,
- 17:34Speaker 1: who is played by Arian Mandy. She changes the way
- 17:38Speaker 1: she's always thought about love, So you couldn't be correct.
- 17:44Speaker 1: We might get three little love stories happening here. It
- 17:47Speaker 1: is pretty clear from the poster and the description that
- 17:50Speaker 1: there does not seem to be one main love story.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I wonder if Melaura Harden's character will also have a romance.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Oh, I would be so very happy if that is
- 18:00Speaker 2: the case.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Agree show me that.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Okay, I'm looking forward to that one too.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And last, as far as we know, is A Tale
- 18:09Speaker 1: of Love t A I L premiering on Saturday, April
- 18:13Speaker 1: twenty third on the Hallmark Channel. If I tell you
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's about a dog rescue, does that change your mind
- 18:19Speaker 1: at all?
- 18:19Speaker 2: Yes? It does, Bran, I knew what was gonna be
- 18:22Speaker 2: about an animal at some point, some yes, some kind,
- 18:28Speaker 2: but yeah.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I mean, if you had to choose the Nine Lives
- 18:31Speaker 1: of Christmas, Nine Kittens of Christmas or A Tale of Love,
- 18:34Speaker 1: what are you gonna choose?
- 18:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna choose dogs.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Man. I love cats, I do. I'm more of a
- 18:41Speaker 1: cat person than a dog person. However, I love dogs too,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and I think dogs on screen are more compelling than
- 18:48Speaker 1: cats on screen. Cats can only do so much on screen,
- 18:51Speaker 1: Like they they're not terribly trainable. So I think dogs
- 18:55Speaker 1: are more fun, and I'm hoping that there are a
- 18:58Speaker 1: lot of dogs on screen in this movie.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Show me a cat movie, where like the cat is
- 19:06Speaker 2: like an actual animal.
- 19:11Speaker 1: The Nine Lives of Christmas was such a good movie
- 19:13Speaker 1: that they made a sequel to it. So this is
- 19:19Speaker 1: about a dog rescue whose future is in jeopardy because
- 19:22Speaker 1: their main sponsor a dog food company. They lose their
- 19:26Speaker 1: funding because it's being sold.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Are we Are we to think that cutie mccutie Chris
- 19:33Speaker 2: McNally is going to come in and save the day.
- 19:35Speaker 2: He's like a rich guy maybe, and he's saying, not
- 19:39Speaker 2: a rich guy.
- 19:40Speaker 1: He's a soldier home on leave who is the son
- 19:44Speaker 1: of the dog food company's owner who has passed away.
- 19:50Speaker 1: He's handling the details of the sale. I do it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: And Brittany Bristow is the dog rescue runner who runs
- 20:01Speaker 1: the rescue with her grandmother. So god, I imagine there's
- 20:04Speaker 1: gonna be a little bit of contention with Chris mcnow.
- 20:07Speaker 1: They're like, he's like, I just got to get this done.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Let me get it sold, right, But then he maybe
- 20:13Speaker 1: falls in love with the mission of the rescue and thinks, well,
- 20:17Speaker 1: how can we make this work?
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah? I want some like stranger to show up in
