- 0:00Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 0:03Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Trump's leadership.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm Christy nom the United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are at the
- 0:29Speaker 1: lowest levels ever recorded, and over one hundred thousand illegal
- 0:33Speaker 1: aliens have been arrested. If you are here illegally, your
- 0:37Speaker 1: next you will be fined nearly one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and deported.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You will never return.
- 0:44Speaker 1: But if you register using our CBP home app and
- 0:47Speaker 1: leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Do what's right. Leave now.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Under President Trump, America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:00Speaker 4: What happened with the Roya Wall situation? What ended the relationship?
- 1:03Speaker 4: Was it business finances or was it personalities clashing?
- 1:06Speaker 5: All of it combination it probably all of it all.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Do you think you had some level of responsibility to
- 1:14Speaker 4: play in that situation.
- 1:16Speaker 6: It was my job to lead it, and it didn't
- 1:18Speaker 6: get done until you failed. At the root of it
- 1:21Speaker 6: is trust. At the root of it is probably trust.
- 1:25Speaker 6: I don't want to speak for anybody else, but looking back,
- 1:29Speaker 6: they clearly didn't trust me. So now at the end
- 1:31Speaker 6: of the world, there's two three people looking at each
- 1:33Speaker 6: other differently.
- 1:36Speaker 7: Yeah, my graduates from my school being forced.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Back drop drop my drop backdrop.
- 1:57Speaker 4: All right, guys, welcome back, e y L. Were playing
- 2:00Speaker 4: away game today.
- 2:02Speaker 6: They've been away for the last nine months. It feels
- 2:05Speaker 6: like this. This ain't much different.
- 2:08Speaker 4: This is a conversation that we've been waiting for almost
- 2:12Speaker 4: three years, actually easily three years. Yes, we talk, we
- 2:15Speaker 4: talk all the time. Yeah, on the showy show format.
- 2:20Speaker 4: We got it, so Joseph. But first and foremost, these
- 2:25Speaker 4: my guys right here, let's get the formalities out of
- 2:27Speaker 4: the way. How how have you been?
- 2:29Speaker 5: You couldn't be better. You look good out there. I
- 2:31Speaker 5: could not be better, man. The stories are amazing. Thank you,
- 2:34Speaker 5: thank you. I appreciate it. Love the vacation spots you're taking.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Let me just throw that out there with you gentlemen.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Now, but crats man, you know, it's always good to
- 2:46Speaker 4: see you on your trajectory upwards. I like the new studio,
- 2:50Speaker 4: I like the new vibe.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Thank you man.
- 2:52Speaker 8: Yeah, I appreciate you talk about the tiny colch no
- 2:54Speaker 8: more he has. This has been an elevation at a
- 2:56Speaker 8: different level.
- 2:57Speaker 4: He did.
- 2:59Speaker 6: I don't like that. I don't like that. I don't
- 3:03Speaker 6: like that perception plays such a key rope.
- 3:05Speaker 5: But it does. It does.
- 3:06Speaker 6: That's always been my fight, though. My fight has always
- 3:08Speaker 6: been perception versus reality. So we was cooking on that
- 3:13Speaker 6: little last beyond cooking that's legendary. But now all the bills,
- 3:21Speaker 6: I wasn't too mad.
- 3:24Speaker 4: The ship. So now all right, we got a lot
- 3:29Speaker 4: to talk about the reason why I been wanting to
- 3:30Speaker 4: have this conversation is that I feel like there's so
- 3:33Speaker 4: much to talk about on the business side in the
- 3:36Speaker 4: last five years of your journey, and from an educational standpoint,
- 3:41Speaker 4: there's a lot of learning lessons. There's a lot of
- 3:43Speaker 4: you know, probably things that you've learned to cross the
- 3:47Speaker 4: way that you could provide information on. I like to
- 3:49Speaker 4: get your insight, your perspective on certain things, and I
- 3:53Speaker 4: feel like, you know, this is a great time to
- 3:56Speaker 4: have that conversation.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 8: I mean when we think about pocket and we think
- 4:00Speaker 8: about the pinnacle of it, especially it's you and you've
- 4:04Speaker 8: seen things and you've been around things, and I even
- 4:06Speaker 8: heard you say on another show it was like you
- 4:09Speaker 8: got into meetings at the top and wanted to spread
- 4:12Speaker 8: the message to everybody else. So I think, like this platform,
- 4:15Speaker 8: obviously us, this is the perfect place to do it.
- 4:18Speaker 8: So we're just happy to have this at this moment.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Man, I'm just happy to be able to hang out
- 4:22Speaker 6: with you guys, So whatever y'all want. Yeah, man, I'm so.
- 4:27Speaker 6: I'm so happy and proud. This is great. It's great.
- 4:29Speaker 6: It's like what Sean said, like good when everybody is
- 4:33Speaker 6: doing this, that feels good. Yeah, it don't feel good
- 4:37Speaker 6: when you're doing this and niggas are doing.
- 4:39Speaker 8: This, But like from that perspective, I'm just jump into it.
- 4:44Speaker 8: How does that make you feel knowing that for this
- 4:46Speaker 8: podcast space, you are a pioneered to watch the ascension
- 4:50Speaker 8: of other shows get to this this kind of level
- 4:52Speaker 8: of awareness and recognition and I guess success.
- 4:56Speaker 6: I mean, it feels good, but it don't. It feels
- 4:59Speaker 6: good in the same that please. Did so many people
- 5:03Speaker 6: regard me in that in that manner like that's awesome?
- 5:09Speaker 6: But I mean I regard so many people in that
- 5:11Speaker 6: same manner that cares, Like who cares? When I was
- 5:17Speaker 6: running around screaming, yo, Combat Jacket is a genius. Look
- 5:20Speaker 6: what he's doing. He's going crazy? Is this is the future?
- 5:22Speaker 6: What's he going to do next? Nobody was really and
- 5:27Speaker 6: then he passed? Rest in peace, Combat Jacks. I just
- 5:31Speaker 6: feel like there's there are so many people who have
- 5:34Speaker 6: an integral role in this thing that is like, I'm
- 5:37Speaker 6: honored to be a part of that. But it's like
- 5:40Speaker 6: the NBA seventy five, it's seventy four other people here
- 5:42Speaker 6: that we need to continue to do what they're doing
- 5:45Speaker 6: as well.
- 5:46Speaker 4: So all right, let me ask you this jump into
- 5:49Speaker 4: this conversation to me, all right, you are a forefather
- 5:53Speaker 4: in the podcasting space, okay, and at least for our culture,
- 5:56Speaker 4: at very least, but I think for just in general.
- 5:59Speaker 4: So when did you realize that this thing is actually
- 6:03Speaker 4: taking off to become a real viable business. I don't
- 6:06Speaker 4: think did you realize that at the beginning or do
- 6:08Speaker 4: you start to see traction and then you're okay, this
- 6:11Speaker 4: is how we monetize it. We're going on YouTube spotlight now.
- 6:16Speaker 4: It's a blueprint, But I don't think there was a
- 6:17Speaker 4: blueprint when you first started.
- 6:18Speaker 5: I don't know. It wasn't no blueprint.
- 6:19Speaker 6: You know how any fights I have with this guy,
- 6:21Speaker 6: we laugh at it all the time. Where what was happening? Early? Early,
- 6:27Speaker 6: I didn't want to wrap. I had broadcasting in my past.
- 6:31Speaker 6: That was a passion of mine. It was ninety seven
- 6:33Speaker 6: for a while, yeah, High ninety seven for a while,
- 6:36Speaker 6: and then I tinkered around in like nine and twenty
- 6:40Speaker 6: ten with just recording myself. I was always big on
- 6:44Speaker 6: U stream and blog TV and just whatever tool there
- 6:49Speaker 6: was to.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Live stream, right.
- 6:54Speaker 6: And then I was walking around with the camera on
- 6:55Speaker 6: my neck like I was going to Best Buy and
- 6:58Speaker 6: just fucking walking with a cam everywhere I went, being
- 7:01Speaker 6: the artist, recording artist like it was.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Due for for a while. It was due for for
- 7:06Speaker 5: a while.
- 7:06Speaker 6: But it worked and there was no structure to it,
- 7:10Speaker 6: so it was just creative.
- 7:12Speaker 5: It was just creative.
- 7:13Speaker 6: But by the time twenty fourteen came out and I
- 7:17Speaker 6: put my album out and we was torn and just
- 7:20Speaker 6: all the shit we was doing to make a buck.
- 7:22Speaker 5: It didn't feel good for me. It didn't feel good.
- 7:26Speaker 5: It was like a dog.
- 7:27Speaker 6: I looked at everybody in the sprinter, this is it, dog,
- 7:31Speaker 6: this is it. It's the last for Rah. Let's have
- 7:33Speaker 6: a blast, hear. And then that was that. And I
- 7:36Speaker 6: think it was that tour. Actually, the pieces just all
- 7:38Speaker 6: come together. So when you say, do you look at
- 7:41Speaker 6: yourself like a pioneer, right, maybe not, because the pieces
- 7:44Speaker 6: all go together.
- 7:44Speaker 5: It's like a story. It's still going from the tour.
- 7:49Speaker 6: We was doing everyday struggle hit me, Elliott Elliott Wilson,
- 7:54Speaker 6: I said, Elliott Wilson. Elliot Wilson hit me. He didn't
- 7:57Speaker 6: end up doing it. That starts the complex journey. The
- 8:00Speaker 6: complex journey. There's really gonna be you and him. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 6: oh wow, me and Elliott Wilson. Elliott Wilson. The pay
- 8:08Speaker 6: wasn't the best, and he didn't live in New York
- 8:11Speaker 6: with the show with tape, and he got a greater
- 8:13Speaker 6: opportunity elsewhere. So he called me said, listen, not gonna
- 8:17Speaker 6: be able to I'm not gonna roll with that one, y'all.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Gonna have to find somebody else.
- 8:21Speaker 6: But I thought the idea was so phenomenal that all right,
- 8:23Speaker 6: we're gonna find somebody else, So we looked for somebody else.
- 8:25Speaker 5: That person ended up being an act.
- 8:26Speaker 6: The rest is history, and then we had our little
- 8:29Speaker 6: hiccups there, some of which included Spotify and Complex doing
- 8:35Speaker 6: some shit, which starts the next chapter. Almost well, Revolt
- 8:39Speaker 6: comes before that. Every day struggle. Yeah, right after every
- 8:43Speaker 6: day struggle.
- 8:43Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sorry, state of the culture.
- 8:45Speaker 6: State of the culture comes with Revolt, and I'm pretty
- 8:49Speaker 6: sure that's State of the culture and the Spotify.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Deal with the same time. I remember because Puff called.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Me by the Spotify podcast deal. Yeah, but you was
- 8:58Speaker 4: making money before it, this podcast Spotify, the spodcast.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Nobody knew how to make money.
- 9:03Speaker 4: You didn't. You wasn't making money.
- 9:04Speaker 6: No, nobody knew how to make money. How did you
- 9:09Speaker 6: make money? They were still figuring out advertisements at the time.
- 9:14Speaker 6: I still had my stance on advertisements, like it just
- 9:18Speaker 6: had to be right.
- 9:20Speaker 5: That's carried over.
- 9:21Speaker 6: But yeah, fucking we were uploading on YouTube originally just audio.
- 9:27Speaker 5: That was a bill. It was all bills, So no,
- 9:31Speaker 5: there was no money.
- 9:33Speaker 6: Right before that Spotify deal came, we were gonna do
- 9:36Speaker 6: an ad deal. Well, I was considering an ad deal and
- 9:39Speaker 6: that deal wasn't for a lot of money, a quarter
- 9:41Speaker 6: million a year, and I was excited about that, not
- 9:45Speaker 6: because of the money, but because when you run in
- 9:47Speaker 6: the operation, offset some of this costs.
- 9:51Speaker 5: Please, like, I can't keep doing it alone.
- 9:54Speaker 6: And the Spotify was right after that, but in between
- 9:57Speaker 6: we had spoken to a lot of other people.
- 9:58Speaker 5: After Complex, we were.
- 10:00Speaker 6: What what we were looking for going into any situation
- 10:05Speaker 6: from there, and it kind of just kept going.
- 10:07Speaker 8: So when did we switched because YouTube, obviously if you're
- 10:11Speaker 8: just doing the audio, at some point you switch to
- 10:13Speaker 8: the visuals, yea, as sets kicks in, you're getting a
- 10:16Speaker 8: lot of views. So when it was it like, it's
- 10:19Speaker 8: kind of like our story, right like we started with iPhones.
- 10:21Speaker 8: We didn't even put the first five episodes out until
- 10:24Speaker 8: we learned, like, wait, we could actually monetize it on
- 10:26Speaker 8: YouTube on YouTube.
- 10:27Speaker 5: We didn't put them on YouTube.
- 10:28Speaker 8: It's like, oh, we should actually put the visuals out
- 10:30Speaker 8: because visuals could be a source of revenue and the
- 10:32Speaker 8: audio could be a source.
- 10:33Speaker 5: It was the same type of situation. We just figured
- 10:35Speaker 5: it out.
- 10:35Speaker 6: I'll say I was figuring it out, like I didn't know,
- 10:38Speaker 6: And to be honest with you, it took. It took
- 10:42Speaker 6: working at Complex to see how they viewed things and
- 10:47Speaker 6: how they did things to realize, okay, I brought you
- 10:51Speaker 6: do some things differently, I'm not doing this correctly. So
- 10:55Speaker 6: then it was clips. Then it came clips. I'm gonna
- 10:57Speaker 6: clip you down. Now watch this one, buddy. I was
- 11:00Speaker 6: just giving you a podcast, but oh yeah.
- 11:03Speaker 5: I want to play a little cliff games.
- 11:05Speaker 6: So that's what it was then and then and at
- 11:08Speaker 6: that point the show was now like peaking peaking. I
- 11:13Speaker 6: remember we presented something the Complex, like a deal, like
- 11:16Speaker 6: a five podcast deal for them to take on for shorts,
- 11:19Speaker 6: and they didn't want it. Nobody knew how to make
- 11:21Speaker 6: money from it. Nobody knew Spotify was bold in that,
- 11:26Speaker 6: like Apple had their podcasts situation, which is weird them
- 11:29Speaker 6: niggas and y'all just gonna put it here and that's
- 11:31Speaker 6: gonna be the end. Spot It took Spotify to come
- 11:35Speaker 6: and say, I think we have some money to spend here.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Let's see if something, let's see what works.
- 11:42Speaker 4: So can we talk about this Spotify situation you want
- 11:45Speaker 4: to talk about?
- 11:46Speaker 5: All right?
- 11:46Speaker 4: All right, so what's the details of this situation? You
- 11:49Speaker 4: go to Spotify, you have it was a two year deal.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Three ye two years deal. You have a two year deal,
- 11:54Speaker 5: you do twice a week, two years, you.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Do extremely successful, your shows, one of the top shows
- 11:59Speaker 4: in the world, and then it's time to reup and
- 12:03Speaker 4: things kind of fall apart. The room is that they
- 12:05Speaker 4: offered you thirty million dollars and you decline that it's
- 12:08Speaker 4: that true. No, okay, so what's the what's the deal?
- 12:11Speaker 6: That's not true? Things were rocky, just the public never
- 12:15Speaker 6: knew things were rocky. Things on the business side, behind
- 12:18Speaker 6: the scenes, bind the scenes. In business, there are there
- 12:21Speaker 6: are signs that for me, show faith in a relationship
- 12:27Speaker 6: and don't and me, coming from music, morale being high
- 12:30Speaker 6: is important in any type of creative field, right, So
- 12:34Speaker 6: there were a lot of signs that said this ain't
- 12:37Speaker 6: gonna go well no matter how big the show was,
- 12:40Speaker 6: and no matter how big the show looked to the public.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Like I had people that were working on Spotify and
- 12:45Speaker 6: the company, listen, there's no way to let you walk
- 12:49Speaker 6: out the door. You are the focal point and every
- 12:51Speaker 6: meaning you are on the bulletin board. That's what the
- 12:53Speaker 6: fact you want a blueprint like this is. I'm telling
- 12:56Speaker 6: you that that's no way in the world. Like people
- 12:58Speaker 6: were exam I was like, dog, you never know, you
- 13:01Speaker 6: never know. Let's see a playout. So by the time
- 13:03Speaker 6: it got to the end, which was for the public,
- 13:05Speaker 6: because right I'm doing a countdown on that episode, ten
- 13:08Speaker 6: fifteen countdown.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Time's almost up. I don't want a lot of the fans.
- 13:15Speaker 8: Everything you're saying is what it felt like, right, And
- 13:18Speaker 8: then I remember the one hundred million thing came out,
- 13:22Speaker 8: and it was like, is this the valuation that we
- 13:26Speaker 8: feel that the show is worth or going forward?
- 13:28Speaker 5: Or was it like, you know what, let's see how
- 13:30Speaker 5: far we can.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Put the height of the negotiation. I'll be a little transparent.
- 13:34Speaker 6: At the height of that negotiation, we were expecting a
- 13:38Speaker 6: high eight figure to some and it seemed like that
- 13:42Speaker 6: is what would come. What it felt like, this is
- 13:45Speaker 6: all based off emotion and assumption now because you'll never
- 13:48Speaker 6: have anything to prove any of this shit. But what
- 13:50Speaker 6: it felt like was a call got made. Sometimes a
- 13:54Speaker 6: call gets made and Chris Brown can't perform anymore.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Like That's what it felt like. It was very abrupt.
- 14:00Speaker 6: As as abrupt as it was for the public, is
- 14:04Speaker 6: exactly how it was for me. And especially my guys,
- 14:08Speaker 6: especially everybody that worked it in the room. They didn't
- 14:11Speaker 6: know nothing about nothing. I just knew Ian, I'm sure knew.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 8: Yeah, because at the time, Joe Rogan, he's just getting
- 14:18Speaker 8: his deal and it's like, oh, Joe's worth this, Joe
- 14:21Speaker 8: Rogan's worth this called me daddy situation.
- 14:23Speaker 5: I'm like, oh wait, these guys, this is.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Never But at this point, I don't think to call
- 14:29Speaker 6: me Joe Rogan has happened yet.
- 14:33Speaker 5: None of that has happened.
- 14:34Speaker 6: Okay, I don't think Okay, I don't think I could
- 14:37Speaker 6: be wrong in that, but I don't think any of
- 14:39Speaker 6: that has happened yet.
- 14:39Speaker 4: So the issue that they you felt that the number
- 14:42Speaker 4: that they offer, what did they offer you.
- 14:44Speaker 6: Something that ended up being close to twenty million with
- 14:48Speaker 6: a lot of shit.
- 14:50Speaker 4: A lot of stipulations, a lot a lot. Was it
- 14:52Speaker 4: the ownership of the show involved?
- 14:54Speaker 9: Oh no, that wasn't that. I was never want to
- 14:57Speaker 9: tell that wasn't the problem.
- 14:58Speaker 6: But there's this thing going on in the industry where
- 15:00Speaker 6: they just they are misleading you with words. You got
- 15:04Speaker 6: to pay attention to words. Words mean things. So like
- 15:07Speaker 6: these artists are runn around talking about partnerships. What the
- 15:10Speaker 6: fuck does the partnership matter? If they get paid in
- 15:13Speaker 6: perpectuit you off everything like you can own it, But
- 15:16Speaker 6: if you ain't profited off of it, then it means nothing.
- 15:18Speaker 6: And that's what's going on a lot. So ownership was
- 15:21Speaker 6: never a problem. But what they wanted to do with
- 15:25Speaker 6: me having ownership, it's like dog niggas is playing with me.
- 15:29Speaker 6: Y're playing with me. Y'all must think you could piss
- 15:31Speaker 6: on me and tell me it's raining like I don't
- 15:33Speaker 6: understand what's happening. You can't just stitch whatever you want
- 15:36Speaker 6: into the fucking feed whenever you feel like it.
- 15:40Speaker 5: What are y'all talking to?
- 15:42Speaker 4: Like any kind of ad?
- 15:43Speaker 6: They wanted anything they wanted anytime? Just plug it in. Hey, y'all,
- 15:48Speaker 6: do what y'all do, and then just give it us
- 15:51Speaker 6: no and come off of YouTube.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Give us all the videos. Are they wanted all they
- 15:56Speaker 5: wanted to, all.
- 15:56Speaker 6: The videos, Give us all the videos, all the bills,
- 15:58Speaker 6: because that's what they did with Y're broken and don't
- 16:00Speaker 6: show up nowhere else. They just asked for a lot.
- 16:03Speaker 6: Don't show up anywhere else like another are ship? We
- 16:07Speaker 6: gonna figure out how to run next? They had, they
- 16:10Speaker 6: had a universe that they're building, and in that you
- 16:14Speaker 6: can see them building it.
- 16:15Speaker 5: They're doing it publicly. Hey, we Spotify buyers this advertised
- 16:20Speaker 5: company Spotify.
- 16:21Speaker 6: By they buying the companies to come so they could
- 16:23Speaker 6: build their ship. No, you can't misuse my ship that
- 16:27Speaker 6: way because you're talking about ads. But it's really y'all
- 16:29Speaker 6: y'all the ad. Yeah, it was a lot, It was
- 16:32Speaker 6: a lot wrong being I don't lose a day of
- 16:35Speaker 6: sleep saying though to that.
- 16:37Speaker 8: Yeah, being being that you come from the music industry
- 16:40Speaker 8: and now in the podcast space, you see any similarities
- 16:44Speaker 8: and how the corporate is trying to take advantage of
- 16:46Speaker 8: the actual creative right with the I guess from the
- 16:50Speaker 8: standpoint of people being, this space is so new and
- 16:53Speaker 8: people really don't understand, like you said, how to monetize
- 16:56Speaker 8: or what that contract is saying. Do you see those
- 16:58Speaker 8: those type of similarities from the music to the podcast space.
- 17:01Speaker 6: Yeah, but I mean we in America, it's a story
- 17:06Speaker 6: ox tail, story ox tail. Somebody white person back there,
- 17:10Speaker 6: mak some ox. They took the tail through that black
- 17:13Speaker 6: lady say, let me get that get that start.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Jazzing it up, jazzing up that oxtail.
- 17:21Speaker 6: Now it's good and now look go drive buy some oxtawn.
- 17:25Speaker 6: White people selling that shit to you for ninety dollars.
- 17:29Speaker 6: No story out there, That's what they do. It's the
- 17:32Speaker 6: history here mad parallels. Unfortunately.
- 17:38Speaker 4: So okay, So the Spotify deal doesn't work out. Now
- 17:41Speaker 4: you're a free agent, yep. Your next Your next thing
- 17:45Speaker 4: is not to try to sign with a new agency,
- 17:47Speaker 4: is to start an own network without the next course
- 17:51Speaker 4: of events.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Yes, yes, but I want to say that plan was
- 17:55Speaker 6: underway before Spotify was could put okay right, because I
- 17:59Speaker 6: had a vision for what I thought would come, and
- 18:01Speaker 6: the network would play a huge part. Honestly, I was
- 18:04Speaker 6: banking on Apple subscriptions. That was really my plan. I
- 18:10Speaker 6: didn't want to go nowhere. I saw our metrics and
- 18:14Speaker 6: I was gonna bet on what our numbers would do
- 18:18Speaker 6: if we had it.
- 18:19Speaker 4: All if Apple subscriptions, that's like when people pay. But
- 18:22Speaker 4: that hasn't really worked out, right, No, that didn't. I
- 18:31Speaker 4: haven't seen anybody talking about Apple subscriptions.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Which took the plan off the table. I took a
- 18:39Speaker 6: plan off the tables like these fucking mother and fun
- 18:42Speaker 6: Now be back to talking to niggas. Again, and then
- 18:45Speaker 6: you get to talking to niggas again, and you spend
- 18:48Speaker 6: months and months and months on deals that you have
- 18:52Speaker 6: faith in, that that you would love to come to
- 18:54Speaker 6: fruition and maybe in the final hour just falls just
- 19:00Speaker 6: these are these are huge conversations that you're having with people.
- 19:05Speaker 6: So I mean, you can't take any of this stuff
- 19:06Speaker 6: for granted, right, Like these people that we're talking to
- 19:10Speaker 6: who were doing business with y'all, like these are ships.
- 19:14Speaker 6: These are Titanic ships running around and we just happy
- 19:19Speaker 6: to be in the sea. But at some point we
- 19:21Speaker 6: got to figure out how to get to the destination too.
- 19:23Speaker 8: So when when you were coming up with the division
- 19:28Speaker 8: for the network, even inside of the Spotify deal, when
- 19:30Speaker 8: you're asking for all these things, were you offering the
- 19:34Speaker 8: Joe butten podcast to show?
- 19:36Speaker 5: But ye know what division for the network?
- 19:38Speaker 6: Let me let me, let me, let me let me
- 19:39Speaker 6: stop you because that was division and complex too. I
- 19:42Speaker 6: want to go back to that, Like, before you really
- 19:44Speaker 6: knew how you were going to monetize the network and
- 19:47Speaker 6: what was the best way to do it, I was
- 19:48Speaker 6: still saying network, network, network, network, because it just seemed
- 19:52Speaker 6: like the obbyest thing to do. We were doing every
- 19:54Speaker 6: Day Struggle y'all. Wasn't putting the audio nowhere.
- 19:58Speaker 4: It was just a show.
- 19:59Speaker 5: It's just on YouTube. Mm hmm.
- 20:00Speaker 6: Up, that's one. Academics is huge, just by himself.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Up. That's two.
- 20:06Speaker 6: Oh watch this, we have the cracky I'm gonna do something.
- 20:10Speaker 6: He gonna do something like five shows. So it could
- 20:14Speaker 6: be done if you do it, if you do it right.
- 20:16Speaker 6: But once you start getting us a lot of things
- 20:18Speaker 6: at play, it be a lot of things that play
- 20:20Speaker 6: at that point, I feel like it was happening of
- 20:22Speaker 6: us too, Like we were watching the space and like
- 20:24Speaker 6: I would always reference Bill Simmons that we have with
- 20:27Speaker 6: the ringer shout out the Bill. Right, So we watched
- 20:30Speaker 6: I'm interested to seeing like if you were taking that
- 20:31Speaker 6: same viewpoint, like studying the game and seeing like Bill Simmons,
- 20:34Speaker 6: most people don't know he's sportswriter, but he had nine shows, right,
- 20:38Speaker 6: and nobody probably knows any of the shows.
- 20:40Speaker 8: But when Spotify came to get it, it's two hundred
- 20:43Speaker 8: million dollar deal. And when I saw that, I'm like, oh,
- 20:45Speaker 8: it's gotta the network. And so I'm watching you, I'm like, oh,
- 20:48Speaker 8: he must be seeing the same thing. Were you going
- 20:50Speaker 8: through that that process of thought.
- 20:51Speaker 4: When he saw it.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Yeah, something like that.
- 20:53Speaker 6: I mean Bill, Bill is white and I'm black, true,
- 20:56Speaker 6: so that always plays a part. Not to make it racy,
- 20:59Speaker 6: but you know, comparing yourself to somebody white, you can
- 21:02Speaker 6: pick up information from anywhere. So yeah, you picture it
- 21:06Speaker 6: that way and you just hope it worked out for
- 21:09Speaker 6: everybody involved. But again, you can have the best plan
- 21:12Speaker 6: in the world. If the players on the court don't
- 21:15Speaker 6: do the play, then we don't score.
- 21:18Speaker 4: So what do you think because we have a network,
- 21:20Speaker 4: so we've seen how you know it works.
- 21:23Speaker 6: And I'm waiting for it, y'all. Don't notice every time
- 21:25Speaker 6: I see you, y'all I say that to you. Maybe
- 21:27Speaker 6: y'all don't pay it no mind? What waiting for it coming?
- 21:33Speaker 5: Wait for what?
- 21:34Speaker 4: For the nonsense?
- 21:35Speaker 5: Oh?
- 21:37Speaker 6: I say it every single time I see allfoud I
- 21:40Speaker 6: don't be joking that. I have to see it's inevitable.
- 21:45Speaker 6: It's not a jinx, It's inevitable on that path. So
- 21:49Speaker 6: I can't wait to see how the financial people deal
- 21:54Speaker 6: with that when it comes, however it manifests, because by
- 22:00Speaker 6: the time it reappears, it'll be more insidious than if
- 22:03Speaker 6: you last saw it.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Ernest checked this out.
- 22:07Speaker 8: If you're looking to add to your podcast list, I
- 22:10Speaker 8: got on. You definitely need to check out the new
- 22:13Speaker 8: Audible original Direct Deposit What Happens When Black People Get Rich?
- 22:17Speaker 8: Hosted by Chad Sanders, the author of Black Magic, What
- 22:20Speaker 8: Black Leaders Learned From Trauma and Triumph, and TV writer
- 22:24Speaker 8: of Rap Shit, Direct Deposit explores what it takes to
- 22:27Speaker 8: get rich and stay rich while black in America. For
- 22:30Speaker 8: all my young black entrepreneurs, you must tap in. Direct
- 22:34Speaker 8: Deposit seeks to answer the questions, what's money gonna do
- 22:37Speaker 8: for me? What's money gonna do to me? It's quite
- 22:40Speaker 8: a dilemma. Chad went from sleeping on a mattress from
- 22:42Speaker 8: the floor in his cramped apartment to nearly overnight success
- 22:45Speaker 8: after the legendary Spike Lee signed on to developed one
- 22:48Speaker 8: of his scripts. After becoming more and more successful, Chad
- 22:52Speaker 8: has realized that his bank account might change, but the
- 22:54Speaker 8: struggle remains. Chad speaks to prominent black figures in American
- 22:57Speaker 8: pop culture like Easter, Ray Garriel, and Solidad O'Brien. There's
- 23:01Speaker 8: a Audible dot com slash Direct Deposit to listen now.
- 23:06Speaker 6: It happens every time, but you're all smart, brothers.
- 23:10Speaker 4: So what do you think some of the issues was
- 23:13Speaker 4: with the with the network?
- 23:15Speaker 6: Was it too many females, too many to name, way
- 23:19Speaker 6: too many to name? Oh my god, fucking shoot me.
- 23:28Speaker 5: To get me a cigarette? What you want me to say?
- 23:30Speaker 5: What do you want me to say? Buddy?
- 23:31Speaker 6: I can't say too much because I still have a network.
- 23:34Speaker 6: It's just ran differently. It's just ran differently. But I
- 23:38Speaker 6: don't think that I was staffed in a way to
- 23:42Speaker 6: deal with ten or more creative people at a time.
- 23:48Speaker 6: I think I underestimated the staffing that needed to be
- 23:52Speaker 6: in place to really do that the right way. See,
- 23:55Speaker 6: because I keep thinking, we fuck up, thinking that we're
- 23:59Speaker 6: all so similar, and it takes a while for you
- 24:02Speaker 6: to realize, oh shit, everybody ain't me. We ain't thinking
- 24:06Speaker 6: the same on everything. I'm thinking, Hey, I was in
- 24:11Speaker 6: a basement doing cooking this up.
- 24:12Speaker 5: I can cook this up. I can cook this.
- 24:15Speaker 6: Up forever as long as I'm okay, right like I can,
- 24:18Speaker 6: I can fight the war.
- 24:20Speaker 5: I can fasten my.
- 24:20Speaker 6: Belt and get this done with a greater, greater vision
- 24:24Speaker 6: in mind. Everybody don't feel like that, and it's nothing
- 24:28Speaker 6: to be bitter at like, you can't resent that.
- 24:30Speaker 5: You gotta respect that. Right.
- 24:32Speaker 6: So you're working with girls, they're girls. Girls might have
- 24:34Speaker 6: a different vision than you. Nothing wrong, none wrong, everybody.
- 24:40Speaker 6: There's no one way to do this shit. And I
- 24:42Speaker 6: think I took that for granted coming in. That's just
- 24:44Speaker 6: that's just one It's just one of the things.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Do you think that the expectation of work was a
- 24:50Speaker 4: little like I look at our situation kind of like
- 24:54Speaker 4: as an independent label, where the people on a network
- 24:57Speaker 4: produce their own content, They produce their own on social
- 25:00Speaker 4: media clips. We give them a voice, we give them
- 25:02Speaker 4: a platform, we promote it, but and they get a
- 25:05Speaker 4: lot of the lion's share of revenue that comes in
- 25:07Speaker 4: as a result of that. It's like coch Records. But
- 25:10Speaker 4: I could see it being extremely difficult if somebody's expecting
- 25:13Speaker 4: you to produce content for them and you to do
- 25:16Speaker 4: social media clips for them. Was that part of a
- 25:18Speaker 4: problem or.
- 25:18Speaker 5: No, I don't want to say that.
- 25:19Speaker 6: What I will say is this, right, if I'm the
- 25:24Speaker 6: label and you're the artist, and you feel that you
- 25:29Speaker 6: went and made ten amazing songs at some point, if
- 25:33Speaker 6: you don't hear those songs or you don't see the
- 25:35Speaker 6: songs happen in the way it's supposed to happen for you.
- 25:38Speaker 6: You come into the label, You're come into the label
- 25:41Speaker 6: to say, hey, the fuck is going on? I don't
- 25:43Speaker 6: have enough spends, my video, ain't playing my mixed show?
- 25:46Speaker 6: Then that fuck, I don't have no shows my public
- 25:48Speaker 6: I don't have nothing lined up, and the labels looking
- 25:50Speaker 6: at you like the fuck are you even talking about?
- 25:55Speaker 6: Like did you do what you had to do? Like
- 25:58Speaker 6: I know you made some shit, but did you do
- 25:59Speaker 6: everything thing you had to do? It becomes that. It
- 26:02Speaker 6: becomes that.
- 26:04Speaker 8: So even now like you had shows, is the what's
- 26:08Speaker 8: what's the vision now for it? Is it to find
- 26:10Speaker 8: more voices, more creatives, to create the plans. Like you said,
- 26:13Speaker 8: you're gonna be running it differently. Now, what what's gonna
- 26:15Speaker 8: change now for Joe Butt Network?
- 26:17Speaker 6: That I don't need to be so front facing in
- 26:20Speaker 6: everybody's in everybody's journey. Like I kick it with a
- 26:22Speaker 6: bunch of podcasters. They don't all need to come kick
- 26:25Speaker 6: it on my network. I don't need to fucking fund
- 26:29Speaker 6: all of them and sit in on the think tanks
- 26:31Speaker 6: and fucking like that.
- 26:32Speaker 5: I don't need to do all that Like, as.
- 26:34Speaker 6: Long as everybody's doing what they gotta do, I'm always
- 26:36Speaker 6: feel like we're gonna be right.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Like the plan is still the same.
- 26:40Speaker 6: If you happen to bump into somebody that you got
- 26:41Speaker 6: chemistry with and you're compatible with, they want to get
- 26:44Speaker 6: that done.
- 26:44Speaker 5: Eventually, I want to get off the couch.
- 26:47Speaker 6: At some point, I'm getting the fuck off this couch.
- 26:51Speaker 6: That is gonna happen, But for now, na, I just
- 26:54Speaker 6: wanna keep drilling. Any niggas, I'm gonna keep drilling. I'm
- 26:57Speaker 6: never gonna stop. Niggas can't stop me. I saw when
- 27:01Speaker 6: nobody can stop me. Nobody, none of them can stop me.
- 27:04Speaker 8: Yeah, because I just feel like your work ethic is
- 27:06Speaker 8: just is just different bar none.
- 27:08Speaker 5: I feel like people homeless, they take it.
- 27:11Speaker 8: They take this for granted, right, like like we see you,
- 27:13Speaker 8: we know we're going to see you twice a week
- 27:15Speaker 8: every week, and so people take that for granted. But
- 27:19Speaker 8: the process of being getting prepared to do this, Like
- 27:21Speaker 8: what's that life for you?
- 27:22Speaker 5: Because like what you've mastered is great questions?
- 27:26Speaker 8: I mean you've mastered something, right, Like we got abduel
- 27:29Speaker 8: out here. Every time you put out an episode, even
- 27:32Speaker 8: my sister in a little time. You're like, it's three
- 27:34Speaker 8: hours of content. It's tough to get people to listen
- 27:37Speaker 8: to ten minutes of content, but you've mastered it.
- 27:39Speaker 5: People will.
- 27:40Speaker 8: It's part of their daily lives twice a week on
- 27:43Speaker 8: the way to work, and it's after that they listen
- 27:46Speaker 8: to it. It's a discussion after like Yo, you have
- 27:47Speaker 8: with Jersey he said, Yo, you have with Jersey Yo,
- 27:49Speaker 8: Joe Messenger.
- 27:50Speaker 5: I'm like, damn, this is like entrenched.
- 27:52Speaker 8: Like so, what is that preparation like to get like
- 27:55Speaker 8: to this level of just consistency.
- 27:57Speaker 6: I guess it's deep. It's way to keep it in marriage.
- 28:01Speaker 6: It's not being married to it. Like most podcasters, they
- 28:04Speaker 6: come in and they work today or they worked the
- 28:06Speaker 6: day before, and then they come in and they have
- 28:08Speaker 6: to lose zoom meetings or whatever the fuck they do.
- 28:10Speaker 6: I don't know. This is literally my life. It makes it,
- 28:15Speaker 6: It makes it easy. Like Kevin Lewles told me a
- 28:18Speaker 6: long time ago, when we were arguing about image versus reality,
- 28:22Speaker 6: he was like, no, when it's not image, when it's
- 28:25Speaker 6: just reality, when it's just you, then you're not froning.
- 28:29Speaker 5: It's not a fascant. My entire life is dedicated to this.
- 28:35Speaker 6: Meaning the people that love me and the people that
- 28:37Speaker 6: I love like the most, to my family, my kids.
- 28:39Speaker 6: They know what I'm on. I'm on a mission. They
- 28:41Speaker 6: know my goals. They help me in that, they support
- 28:45Speaker 6: me in that, they know if I hear something, they
- 28:47Speaker 6: know how it's going through my brain. They might have
- 28:49Speaker 6: to tell me, hey, keep this shit private.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Like my entire life is this.
- 28:54Speaker 6: Niggas might fuck more than me, Niggas might vacate more
- 28:57Speaker 6: than me. Like we work, work a lot. These niggas
- 29:00Speaker 6: keep asking me, now, yo, we're all Friday nigga.
- 29:02Speaker 5: No, no, no, no.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Why why would we be all Friday?
- 29:09Speaker 5: Yo?
- 29:09Speaker 6: You know what people would give to wake up, go
- 29:13Speaker 6: down the street, sit on a counch and talk to
- 29:16Speaker 6: their friends. And that's work. I can't compute it. When
- 29:21Speaker 6: people start talking about what happens. Problem didn't move good, good, good,
- 29:27Speaker 6: I'm glad. I mean you ain't figured it out, you
- 29:31Speaker 6: ain't fell down enough, you ain't get the scrapes on
- 29:33Speaker 6: your knees, you ain't put the work in. That's happening
- 29:36Speaker 6: a lot in podcasts Land too, man. Niggas buy a
- 29:39Speaker 6: couch by Mike says, yo, what.
- 29:41Speaker 10: Man, would you pay for the day or would you
- 29:47Speaker 10: would you go yoe? That's what they're doing out there,
- 29:53Speaker 10: the great value ass.
- 29:53Speaker 6: Oh my god, these niggas are discussing out yet.
- 29:59Speaker 5: So all right, so let me do you look at
- 30:02Speaker 5: yourself polluting the water? Do you look? Do you look
- 30:05Speaker 5: at yourself as as.
- 30:08Speaker 4: The Dame dash for the space?
- 30:10Speaker 5: No, me and Dame always been similar.
- 30:11Speaker 4: You say, You're not similar? Always been similar, you know
- 30:13Speaker 4: what I'm saying. Do you look at yourself as kind
- 30:15Speaker 4: of similarities and what he did to music for what
- 30:18Speaker 4: you're doing for podcasting, as far as the rebelliousness of it,
- 30:23Speaker 4: the independence of it, the going against the system. I
- 30:27Speaker 4: kind of see similarities in you guys.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Well, we're similar at our core, which is ownership and
- 30:36Speaker 6: what that fight really entails. It's always been like that.
- 30:39Speaker 6: I'm glad that he has been such a such a
- 30:41Speaker 6: mentor in that regard, Like he's probably the only one
- 30:45Speaker 6: for the last thirty years that's just been on that
- 30:49Speaker 6: and showed you how to do it. Fashion music brought
- 30:53Speaker 6: my niggas on. We got alcohol, he showed he showed
- 30:56Speaker 6: us how to do it. The fact that they might
- 30:58Speaker 6: not speak anymore. I don't have nothing to do with
- 31:00Speaker 6: what they already showed us.
- 31:01Speaker 4: That's the fact.
- 31:02Speaker 5: You can't up with Dan, I always always with So.
- 31:05Speaker 4: What's the blueprint to make money in a podcast? Let's
- 31:08Speaker 4: get to this. We can say our blueprint if you're interested,
- 31:11Speaker 4: But what's your blueprint?
- 31:12Speaker 5: All right, So let's start, niggas.
- 31:17Speaker 4: I look at I look at podcasting as like a
- 31:20Speaker 4: bully pulpit to build your your reputation, to build your
- 31:25Speaker 4: your name, to build trust. So you it's the easy
- 31:28Speaker 4: ways to make money, of course is on the audio side,
- 31:31Speaker 4: Apple and Spotify from audio ads, and then you know
- 31:35Speaker 4: YouTube you get paid from assence. That's you know, it's
- 31:37Speaker 4: kind of like low hanging fruit. But then from there,
- 31:40Speaker 4: for us, the live event space has become pretty big
- 31:44Speaker 4: for us.
- 31:44Speaker 5: No, that's your all, that's all bad right there?
- 31:46Speaker 8: Well, yeah, shout out. You mentioned fourteen times account with that.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Come on, come on, we appreciate that the live event
- 31:54Speaker 4: space has been very good for us. You know this
- 31:57Speaker 4: talk of a paywall. I want to talk to you
- 31:59Speaker 4: about Patreon. A lot of creators are trying to pick
- 32:04Speaker 4: up because a lot a lot of creatives are trying
- 32:06Speaker 4: to figure out how to separate content that's free and
- 32:10Speaker 4: content that's paid for. So like the patres, good luck.
- 32:14Speaker 4: But it depends on what space, and so it's like
- 32:17Speaker 4: for us, we're in an education space.
- 32:20Speaker 6: So don't pitch me to death right now. No, you
- 32:23Speaker 6: asked me, ask me down your fucking pr a little
- 32:28Speaker 6: tablet in the education space and the life touring space.
- 32:31Speaker 5: I w w me, I know what your niggas is
- 32:38Speaker 5: out here. So that's that's another revenue model.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Right. Then you can through merch you can do collaborations
- 32:45Speaker 4: different so it's a variety of different things.
- 32:49Speaker 5: What's your revenue model? Wait, one last thing?
- 32:53Speaker 8: One last part of the revenue model is that we
- 32:55Speaker 8: bring people on who have information about industries, and so
- 32:59Speaker 8: based on the information, we could look at it and
- 33:01Speaker 8: say that's a viable business. We should do that business.
- 33:04Speaker 8: In fact, you should help us do this business. Shark
- 33:07Speaker 8: tank pretty much, it becomes that.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Running around shark that's a good way to do it,
- 33:12Speaker 6: though it's another way.
- 33:13Speaker 5: I like that, all right, what do you want to
- 33:15Speaker 5: know from me?
- 33:15Speaker 4: What's the revenue? What's the revenue model for podcasting?
- 33:20Speaker 5: One on one?
- 33:20Speaker 4: Professor Joe Biden is teaching, Well, we also are in
- 33:24Speaker 4: the educational we like to do university your semester?
- 33:32Speaker 5: Can you do it? In that voice?
- 33:35Speaker 8: This is because you got like we always talk about
- 33:37Speaker 8: this like yo, Joe has probably degree not because.
- 33:39Speaker 5: This is what the people want to know.
- 33:40Speaker 4: This is what they want to know, and a lot
- 33:42Speaker 4: of people have not figured out how to make money
- 33:44Speaker 4: from podcasting.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Most people.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Most people have not figured it out.
- 33:47Speaker 5: We said, what do we say about good? Were talking
- 33:52Speaker 5: about why is that good? Please? Why is it good?
- 33:55Speaker 5: Why is it not?
- 33:56Speaker 4: Because it's an industry where people are getting involved in
- 33:59Speaker 4: while you know you just said Dada showed you the blueprint,
- 34:02Speaker 4: how he showed it?
- 34:03Speaker 6: You just said an action, he showed it exactly and
- 34:07Speaker 6: if you missed that, then you missed it. So what
- 34:10Speaker 6: I'm saying, what I'm saying is this, I've always felt
- 34:14Speaker 6: like there needs to be like a hip hop s
- 34:15Speaker 6: a t.
- 34:16Speaker 5: Test that you take before you could get a record. Heal, yop.
- 34:19Speaker 6: Some of you niggas got to answer some questions like
- 34:21Speaker 6: how do you hold a microphone because some of the
- 34:24Speaker 6: beer basics you gotta know. If everybody just know everything
- 34:28Speaker 6: with no no consequence, no trials and trial and error,
- 34:35Speaker 6: like then everybody's just doing the same shit. No, and
- 34:38Speaker 6: then you muddy in the water. No, because that's what happened.
- 34:42Speaker 6: All of these all of these fucking insects came in
- 34:45Speaker 6: here right said yes to everything, said yes to everything.
- 34:50Speaker 6: They said yes to everything that was put in front of.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Their face shorts.
- 34:54Speaker 6: You niggas sold y'all asked for chocolate chip cookies.
- 34:57Speaker 5: That's what y'all did. Yes. So then the companies put.
- 35:01Speaker 6: Their pants on, and they put their their teflon vests on,
- 35:03Speaker 6: and now it's a.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Cap on it. Yeah, because and now because it's.
- 35:06Speaker 6: A cap on it, Rasha got to sity in and say,
- 35:10Speaker 6: how's everybody making money?
- 35:12Speaker 5: No, everybody ain't.
- 35:14Speaker 6: Only the niggas that figured out and had some balls
- 35:19Speaker 6: and moved.
- 35:19Speaker 5: With a certain machiese mode figured that out. So if you.
- 35:22Speaker 6: Niggas got talking about, oh no, would you better go
- 35:25Speaker 6: on a date with jay Z, which one of the
- 35:30Speaker 6: more parts are you?
- 35:31Speaker 5: No, I'm not sharing none with them. Get the fuck
- 35:33Speaker 5: out the studio. Get out of the studio right now.
- 35:36Speaker 5: I'm making a song, I'm making art.
- 35:39Speaker 6: You microwave manufacturers have come here, and now I got
- 35:43Speaker 6: to have tough conversations with the companies, so they feel like, oh,
- 35:46Speaker 6: we got to dining.
- 35:47Speaker 5: You know the fuck you.
- 35:47Speaker 8: Don't you got that? We gave twenty people that while
- 35:51Speaker 8: we giving you got that. But let's talk about that then,
- 35:54Speaker 8: because and if there was some unity involved, then you
- 35:56Speaker 8: might be able to.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Come to the God with my unity, come to the gunfighter.
- 36:01Speaker 8: That's exactly where I wanted to go with you, because
- 36:02Speaker 8: like what you're saying is absolutely correct. Like we talked
- 36:05Speaker 8: to people in the space and you know, a lot
- 36:07Speaker 8: of times people don't share their deals, but some people
- 36:09Speaker 8: have what us They looking like it's like, oh, you
- 36:10Speaker 8: guys are the finance guys, what do you think of
- 36:12Speaker 8: this deal? And we're looking at it like that's what
- 36:14Speaker 8: you really took, Like did you know did you know
- 36:16Speaker 8: the business bond this? And I feel like nobody shares
- 36:20Speaker 8: the information, which leads to people taking the bad deals,
- 36:23Speaker 8: which now when it's time for some of the people
- 36:25Speaker 8: who have really figured it out. What you're talking about
- 36:28Speaker 8: that cap, Yeah, that twenty million or thirty million dollar
- 36:31Speaker 8: offer that could have been there. When one hundred shows
- 36:34Speaker 8: take the one hundred and twenty five thousand, it brings
- 36:38Speaker 8: it the value down of.
- 36:39Speaker 5: The space you're writing, what you're saying.
- 36:42Speaker 6: This is how I know another side exists because I
- 36:45Speaker 6: have looked too many of these people, ladies and gentlemen,
- 36:48Speaker 6: in the.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Face, in the eyes, and said, that's a mess.
- 36:54Speaker 6: That's a mess. Deals that I had no horse in
- 36:57Speaker 6: the race telling you this, because that is a mess.
- 37:02Speaker 6: Take it to your trusted people and do something different.
- 37:08Speaker 9: And they take it every time they signed it anyway,
- 37:11Speaker 9: take it every time because I have spoken every time
- 37:13Speaker 9: I spoke to Matt Barnes about this, and I'm like,
- 37:16Speaker 9: there needs to be some level of a summit coalition
- 37:20Speaker 9: amongst podcasts.
- 37:21Speaker 4: It's not every podcast, but you know top podcast is
- 37:23Speaker 4: in the space to understand, Okay, what are they offering you?
- 37:27Speaker 4: What is this? What is because it's like there's not
- 37:30Speaker 4: a level of shared information. Like Troy said, it's like
- 37:32Speaker 4: the NBA, right, you know, Steph Curry signed for thirty
- 37:36Speaker 4: million dollars a year, So now if you're lebron you
- 37:39Speaker 4: can kind of base it off of this is makes sense?
- 37:41Speaker 4: This doesn't make sense, right, But nobody knows anything. And
- 37:46Speaker 4: a lot of these guys are my friends and I
- 37:48Speaker 4: ask them questions and they don't fully give me an answer.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Either they just don't want to tell me, or they
- 37:53Speaker 4: don't actually know themselves. They're not fully educated enough themselves
- 37:56Speaker 4: to actually articulate it. Either way, it's not been official
- 38:00Speaker 4: to the space.
- 38:01Speaker 5: I agree.
- 38:01Speaker 4: And it's like, now you just got a bunch of
- 38:03Speaker 4: people just like in the wilderness, not knowing how much
- 38:06Speaker 4: they should charge for AD, not knowing what industries. There's
- 38:09Speaker 4: no industry standard because we don't know what the industry
- 38:12Speaker 4: is doing. Like you know what I'm saying, So do
- 38:13Speaker 4: you think that that could be beneficial?
- 38:16Speaker 6: As far as that would be beneficial? But I mean,
- 38:21Speaker 6: you're right, I learned that people don't. Most people ain't
- 38:24Speaker 6: coming back to share the information. The people that's up up,
- 38:26Speaker 6: they just give it. They just willingly give the information.
- 38:30Speaker 6: But when it's that fight, when it's that fight to
- 38:33Speaker 6: get there, niggas ain't sharing shit. It's a lot of
- 38:35Speaker 6: ego and pride involved. I ran around for three years saying, hey,
- 38:39Speaker 6: I think my deals up, when your deals up. I
- 38:41Speaker 6: think your deals up when your deals up. I think
- 38:43Speaker 6: we should all talk just so we are aware. It's
- 38:45Speaker 6: three difficult. I did that end up being what all
- 38:48Speaker 6: niggas I did it with? We end up with every
- 38:51Speaker 6: single person that I did that with, save exact thing.
- 38:54Speaker 6: But we haven't beached with them.
- 38:55Speaker 8: But they're looking at us like, wow, you guys are
- 38:57Speaker 8: sharing all this information Like wait, I'm glad I know
- 39:02Speaker 8: this now.
- 39:03Speaker 5: I'm like, did you sign this yet?
- 39:04Speaker 8: Like we're about to we're about to renegotiate, but again
- 39:08Speaker 8: we just don't know, right, Like I can't I can't
- 39:11Speaker 8: help if I don't know. And then when, like you said,
- 39:14Speaker 8: when we go to negotiating table, the company knows because
- 39:18Speaker 8: they're looking at the deal. It's like, okay, well if
- 39:20Speaker 8: we give them this, then everybody else is worth this
- 39:24Speaker 8: and it's.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Only a few Like how many how many profitable shows
- 39:27Speaker 5: you think there are in the space? And which space? Five?
- 39:32Speaker 5: Five or less?
- 39:34Speaker 4: Five? That's less less? That's crazy that when you say profitable.
- 39:39Speaker 5: What do you mean think that they make money off amount.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Of money like a dollar or a million dollar? Like
- 39:43Speaker 4: that's that's a relative million.
- 39:45Speaker 6: Let's says, let's put budget.
- 39:48Speaker 8: Let's put a million as a threshold. Yeah, net yes,
- 39:54Speaker 8: you think show you five?
- 39:57Speaker 5: Wow? Yeah? Okay.
- 40:00Speaker 6: I mean when you say in the space, I'm excluding
- 40:03Speaker 6: the television shows that have made themselves podcasts, yeah, not
- 40:07Speaker 6: in the news shows that have made earners.
- 40:10Speaker 5: What's up?
- 40:11Speaker 8: You ever walk into a small business and everything just
- 40:13Speaker 8: works like, the checkout is fast, the receipts are digital,

- 41:29Speaker 8: how they achieve their success little by little, day after day.
- 41:33Speaker 8: It's like banking with P and C Bank. It might

- 41:42Speaker 8: you live or more happily fulfilled life. P and C
- 41:45Speaker 8: Bank Brilliantly Boring since eighteen sixty five. Brilliantly Boring since
- 41:50Speaker 8: eighteen sixty five is a service mark of the PNC

- 41:57Speaker 8: Member FDIC.
- 42:00Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 42:04Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 42:08Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 42:12Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan.
- 42:15Speaker 2: These are just.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 42:20Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Trump's leadership.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I'm Christy nom, the United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are at the
- 42:29Speaker 1: lowest levels ever recorded, and over one hundred thousand illegal
- 42:33Speaker 1: aliens have been arrested. If you are here illegally, your
- 42:37Speaker 1: next you will be fine nearly one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned.
- 42:42Speaker 2: And deported, you will never return.
- 42:44Speaker 1: But if you register using our CBP home app and
- 42:47Speaker 1: leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Do what's right. Leave now.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Under President Trump America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Sponsored by the United States Department Homeldsecurity themselves.
- 43:01Speaker 4: POD tradition shows it's not a lot.
- 43:06Speaker 5: No, no, wow, I don't know if I say five,
- 43:09Speaker 5: but I don't know that I can get to turn.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Well, this is why, and this is why I have
- 43:14Speaker 4: no problem sharing the blueprints like here lay it out
- 43:16Speaker 4: for you, because the odds are already stacked against you anyway, right,
- 43:20Speaker 4: so if there's some level of help that can be provided.
- 43:24Speaker 6: But look at this, right, some of these people start
- 43:28Speaker 6: their pod, they see the Google AdSense thing and they're thrilled,
- 43:32Speaker 6: so they just look to double and triple down in that,
- 43:37Speaker 6: and they focus so much on that that they're content.
- 43:41Speaker 5: It's more money we ever made. Even the ads.
- 43:44Speaker 6: Hey, I'm getting a thousand dollars ad let's say fifteen
- 43:47Speaker 6: nights doing two of these are pod I'm just gonna
- 43:50Speaker 6: take my calculator and oh shit, I can make ten
- 43:54Speaker 6: grand a week or whatever if I'm not doing it.
- 43:57Speaker 5: But some people are happy in that.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Some people always look to the future and just want
- 44:03Speaker 6: it differently and want more. Right, So I can't speak
- 44:08Speaker 6: to that person that is only doing it this way.
- 44:11Speaker 6: I mean, you named a bunch of right, there's what
- 44:13Speaker 6: let's let's go through. It's merchandising. There's live touring. There's
- 44:20Speaker 6: live touring slash speaking engagements. Those can be two different things.
- 44:24Speaker 6: There's advertisements slash integrations. Right, there's paywall slash there's pay
- 44:33Speaker 6: per view somewhere.
- 44:36Speaker 5: What else is there? What else is there?
- 44:39Speaker 6: Yeah, all of them is there now, all of them
- 44:41Speaker 6: is doing that. So you should be set up on
- 44:43Speaker 6: all of these places because they all pay out. Now
- 44:45Speaker 6: the fucking TikTok, snapchats, Instagram, Facebook, all that shit.
- 44:52Speaker 5: See.
- 44:52Speaker 6: So now there's a bunch of people that's gonna hear
- 44:54Speaker 6: those things. And there's some more I'm leaving out, but
- 44:57Speaker 6: there's a bunch of people that's gonna hear those things.
- 44:59Speaker 6: And now say, how do I fill those buckets the
- 45:03Speaker 6: same way I did with my account and said that
- 45:05Speaker 6: you need seven eight strings or whatever to be a millionaires, Like,
- 45:07Speaker 6: get there, I got one nigga. A bunch of people
- 45:11Speaker 6: going to try to fill those buckets. It's somebody else's
- 45:14Speaker 6: job to go create more.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I e.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Combat Jack, Joe Budden, y'all.
- 45:25Speaker 6: Somebody has to go add more buckets. So that's really
- 45:30Speaker 6: the answer to this. The traditional ways to get paid
- 45:33Speaker 6: is all right there. Everybody's value is going to be
- 45:34Speaker 6: different because everbody numbers is different.
- 45:36Speaker 5: We all do different things.
- 45:38Speaker 6: But who's going to add to the pot instead of
- 45:41Speaker 6: just getting robbed or fucking the ass?
- 45:45Speaker 4: What's the deal with what's the deal with Patreon?
- 45:49Speaker 5: You? Jack Jack?
- 45:50Speaker 4: You my guy over there? Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:53Speaker 4: You you have equity and Patreon.
- 45:54Speaker 6: You are asking personal questions creator equity, you are asking
- 45:59Speaker 6: that's that's not that's public knowledge. That was the titlehead
- 46:02Speaker 6: of Yeah that was all some people thought. I just
- 46:05Speaker 6: wrote it there, so.
- 46:05Speaker 4: You're working with If anybody doesn't know, Patreon is a
- 46:08Speaker 4: site that you can pay like different tiers for added
- 46:13Speaker 4: content pretty much right like A five.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Dollars was a site made by a gentleman who is
- 46:21Speaker 6: a musician and got ran through the ring like most
- 46:24Speaker 6: musicians did, and was on YouTube. And he went home
- 46:27Speaker 6: and he said, hey, this is fucked up that this
- 46:30Speaker 6: is all creators are making over here.
- 46:31Speaker 5: I need to find a way. See finding a way
- 46:34Speaker 5: adding a bucket.
- 46:35Speaker 6: So he went, there's Patreon. Patreon pays out more than
- 46:39Speaker 6: everywhere else for your content. So yes, there are different tiers.
- 46:43Speaker 6: You are in charge of those tiers. You slaught them
- 46:46Speaker 6: how you want to slot them, and your fans come
- 46:49Speaker 6: and it's your ship.
- 46:50Speaker 4: And you put out an episode every week for Patreon.
- 46:54Speaker 5: Oh I do buddy?
- 46:56Speaker 4: How much? What do you do?
- 46:57Speaker 5: I do this week on Patreon?
- 47:00Speaker 6: On there has been a Monday drop, a Tuesday drop. Uh,
- 47:05Speaker 6: there will be a Wednesday drop. We'll skip Thursday. There'll
- 47:08Speaker 6: be a Friday and Saturday drop.
- 47:09Speaker 4: So how have you how have you been able to
- 47:11Speaker 4: balance that? With YouTube? Is a lot the free versus
- 47:14Speaker 4: how you? How you balance the free verse?
- 47:16Speaker 5: Move time? Time? Time? Is my inventory?
- 47:21Speaker 6: That that hour and ninety minutes to and from Queens?
- 47:25Speaker 6: No we need that?
- 47:26Speaker 5: No I didn't.
- 47:27Speaker 4: How did you? How do you balance free YouTube versus paid?
- 47:32Speaker 5: Patreon one is a one is a public commercial and
- 47:39Speaker 5: the rest at.
- 47:41Speaker 4: A public commercial for Patreon.
- 47:43Speaker 6: No, no, no, the regular pod that goes on YouTube,
- 47:46Speaker 6: is it, that's that's for that's for the love here
- 47:49Speaker 6: that's a sample.
- 47:50Speaker 5: That's when you walking by the food.
- 47:52Speaker 6: Court and they got the little terryockey here you here,
- 47:54Speaker 6: you go, it's like, damn, make some rice.
- 47:57Speaker 5: That's that's that's that. Let me go get that.
- 47:59Speaker 8: Padreon, it's a little more loose when you set up
- 48:03Speaker 8: your tiers for Patreon is something that we had to
- 48:05Speaker 8: go through. I'm sure creators are doing it creating the
- 48:07Speaker 8: price points that make sense, and so that was like
- 48:10Speaker 8: something we had to figure out.
- 48:11Speaker 5: I know, I started it with one dollar.
- 48:13Speaker 8: Then it was like five dollars and ten, and I
- 48:15Speaker 8: think the highest tier was like one hundred.
- 48:17Speaker 5: Like what is that sweet spot when you're doing it?
- 48:19Speaker 8: Or do you look at it based off the value
- 48:23Speaker 8: or the incentives that you're given that goes with.
- 48:25Speaker 5: The vice Poe?
- 48:26Speaker 6: I based it off the amount of work, the amount
- 48:28Speaker 6: of work, amount of content that I'd be able to provide.
- 48:32Speaker 6: It really wasn't a money thing to me that you
- 48:34Speaker 6: could change. However, you see fit right, Like you could
- 48:36Speaker 6: start one way next month or next two months, you
- 48:38Speaker 6: could change it. That didn't matter to me. We started
- 48:40Speaker 6: one way and kind of kept it that way, which
- 48:42Speaker 6: was three different tiers. It took me over a year
- 48:45Speaker 6: to add a part of the show tier and try
- 48:48Speaker 6: to make it an interactive thing when I was had
- 48:52Speaker 6: a little more faith in the VR being more prominent
- 48:54Speaker 6: right now, but still want to keep interactive.
- 48:56Speaker 5: Are there different seriess on your Patreon because obviously you have.
- 48:59Speaker 6: The Anything Joe Biden is going to Patreon, Okay, any
- 49:02Speaker 6: series I do, we did Journey put on Patreon.
- 49:05Speaker 8: So that's what I'm saying, Like journeys on there. That's
- 49:07Speaker 8: that's a little bit different than.
- 49:09Speaker 6: Yeah, just like that was a Patreon exclusive, right, you
- 49:12Speaker 6: know what I mean? Yeah, anything I do is going
- 49:14Speaker 6: to hit Patreon. Even what's going to YouTube, We'll go
- 49:16Speaker 6: to Patreon perks, Like there has to be some perks here. Yeah,
- 49:21Speaker 6: it has to be able to get you some viazine
- 49:22Speaker 6: or something if you need it or something weird, you know,
- 49:25Speaker 6: you call down there with a weird chust.
- 49:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:28Speaker 8: So I mean, what's the retention like for because you
- 49:32Speaker 8: do obviously millions of.
- 49:33Speaker 5: Listeners out of their minds, out of this world.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Yeah, they can't fuck with me on Patreon no period
- 49:40Speaker 6: in general, my retentions out as world.
- 49:41Speaker 4: But you have a you have a very cult following,
- 49:43Speaker 4: Like people really listen to it.
- 49:44Speaker 6: They don't play about me. They just they don't play
- 49:47Speaker 6: about me. They're there, I want to say, from eighty
- 49:50Speaker 6: percent of the time.
- 49:51Speaker 4: You don't. You're not You're not into live shows anymore.
- 49:53Speaker 5: Huh. I hate them.
- 49:54Speaker 6: Why it's my reaction to it's my reaction to them
- 50:04Speaker 6: capping the market because all the fuck tards went and
- 50:07Speaker 6: fucked it up. Who because the fuck tards fucked it up.
- 50:13Speaker 6: They're not gonna pigeonhole me into what they do with
- 50:16Speaker 6: the rappers, which just go get your money on the road, No,
- 50:20Speaker 6: because that's the way, right, that's the music way. Yeah, No,
- 50:24Speaker 6: not tricking me in this space.
- 50:25Speaker 4: But you just don't like traveling, and I.
- 50:27Speaker 6: Don't mind traveling at all when it makes sense, it
- 50:29Speaker 6: makes sense, right. You always want to see the fans,
- 50:31Speaker 6: You always want to see the fans, you always want
- 50:33Speaker 6: to speak to them.
- 50:33Speaker 5: But I'm an introvert at my core.
- 50:36Speaker 6: If there's a way to get this done and not
- 50:39Speaker 6: be in front of so many people, then I'm gonna
- 50:41Speaker 6: always prefer that. And then when you get in a
- 50:43Speaker 6: road and just see what they do with some of
- 50:45Speaker 6: the expenses and the costs and get expensive. We were
- 50:48Speaker 6: traveling with a crew of what ten or twelve? I
- 50:51Speaker 6: was traveling with a crew of twelve. And there's a
- 50:57Speaker 6: lot from the fact I put you like this. The
- 51:00Speaker 6: tour that I canceled was guaranteed money seven figures pre pandemic.
- 51:05Speaker 5: No just now, just now recently.
- 51:08Speaker 6: And I didn't go just because, not just because, I mean,
- 51:12Speaker 6: there was reasons in that, but one of them was no, no,
- 51:17Speaker 6: we don't have to we don't have to do this.
- 51:20Speaker 6: We don't have to do this right now, right like
- 51:22Speaker 6: we're a year and a half and you can't sleep
- 51:25Speaker 6: on the process. I'm a year and a half in
- 51:27Speaker 6: with Ice and ish Ice just quit his job. It's
- 51:30Speaker 6: just still running his business. Like when me and the
- 51:35Speaker 6: old crew went on tour, I ain't gonna hold you.
- 51:37Speaker 6: We was busting our ass to do two podcasts a
- 51:40Speaker 6: week and tour.
- 51:43Speaker 5: How we never skipped the podcast sensitives, so you record
- 51:46Speaker 5: we were landing. It was days.
- 51:47Speaker 6: Ericsson flew into Florida, filmed the Pond, and flew right
- 51:52Speaker 6: back while we stayed in Like, it's just a lot.
- 51:55Speaker 5: It's a lot. So you got to be ready for that.
- 51:57Speaker 5: You gotta know, I would say, that's the part that
- 51:59Speaker 5: people don't even realize.
- 52:00Speaker 6: You got to be built for that. It's not just
- 52:02Speaker 6: about money at that point. Yes, the extra to tour
- 52:06Speaker 6: money is nice around the holidays when you get that
- 52:08Speaker 6: extra little bumps like oh all right, let's rock and roll.
- 52:12Speaker 6: But right now there were other things for us to
- 52:14Speaker 6: focus on that that that money was, that's that'll be there,
- 52:17Speaker 6: that's the eight ball by the Courton pocket. If you
- 52:19Speaker 6: continue doing what you do what you do, then that
- 52:22Speaker 6: opportunity will be there.
- 52:23Speaker 5: How how is the not even the transition?
- 52:26Speaker 6: But it needs to be reimagined. I feel like, imagine
- 52:29Speaker 6: it needs to be reimagined. What do you mean, like
- 52:32Speaker 6: what you're all doing?
- 52:33Speaker 5: That is?
- 52:34Speaker 4: That is a different spin on it, Not just a
- 52:36Speaker 4: regular show.
- 52:37Speaker 5: Not just get out there and now you do your
- 52:39Speaker 5: part in front of some people and now you.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Go, yeah, bring somebody else. You got to be an experience.
- 52:43Speaker 4: It's an experience. You got to create an experience.
- 52:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 8: Honestly, I was gonna say, how do you how do
- 52:49Speaker 8: you feel or manage being the talent but also being
- 52:53Speaker 8: the face of the brand, the face of the business
- 52:55Speaker 8: cusition you said with the old cast it was one thing, right,
- 52:58Speaker 8: and then the new cast looking at us, we're only
- 53:01Speaker 8: a year and a half in, right, but you're building
- 53:03Speaker 8: the brand, so and and I learned business and being
- 53:07Speaker 8: in the business, and I learned so much from just
- 53:10Speaker 8: like whatever went on with the old crew, right, Like Mike,
- 53:14Speaker 8: it might have been times where the whole crew was overworked,
- 53:17Speaker 8: but I didn't notice it.
- 53:19Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 53:19Speaker 6: I didn't see that because I'm just i'ma work all
- 53:22Speaker 6: of man. So now we take mad days off, mad
- 53:26Speaker 6: days off. That's something I picked up from.
- 53:30Speaker 5: Then.
- 53:31Speaker 6: So it's just different ways of handling. Like we're a
- 53:34Speaker 6: year and a half in. I think back when we
- 53:37Speaker 6: were a year and.
- 53:37Speaker 5: A half in.
- 53:38Speaker 6: Like, it's just different ways to measure this.
- 53:41Speaker 5: I don't compare.
- 53:41Speaker 6: It's two totally different shows at two totally different times
- 53:46Speaker 6: in the world. Right Like when we started, it was
- 53:48Speaker 6: still kind of the wild wild West, Like some of
- 53:51Speaker 6: our early episodes probably need to be pulled, being honest,
- 53:56Speaker 6: but today, right like, different times calls for different conversations
- 54:02Speaker 6: to be had and yeah, that's what the part I.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Think for me is indicative of. Now that's what it
- 54:07Speaker 5: sounds like.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Now, So okay, what happened with the roy and Wall situation?
- 54:14Speaker 6: Unhappiness, unhappiness, egos, ignorance, you name it, and it.
- 54:20Speaker 4: Happened from a business standpoint or from a person like
- 54:24Speaker 4: what ended the relationship? Was it business finances or was
- 54:27Speaker 4: it personalities clashing?
- 54:29Speaker 6: All of it combination? It is probably all of it,
- 54:32Speaker 6: all of it. I'm down to get specific, but it
- 54:35Speaker 6: was really.
- 54:35Speaker 5: All of it.
- 54:36Speaker 4: But looking back on it, all, right, do you think
- 54:39Speaker 4: you had some level of responsibility to play in that situation?
- 54:44Speaker 6: It was my job delete it and it didn't get done,
- 54:47Speaker 6: soil you failed, don't matter if you went to game seven,
- 54:50Speaker 6: like if you lost game seven and the coach didn't
- 54:52Speaker 6: get the job done.
- 54:53Speaker 5: So it was my job.
- 54:54Speaker 4: So is it a thing going forward of explaining to
- 54:57Speaker 4: different people as far as this is the play, this
- 55:01Speaker 4: is the financial play, this is the equity play. So
- 55:03Speaker 4: it's a clear level of understanding. We see it happen
- 55:05Speaker 4: with a lot of different shows. Right matth fIF we
- 55:07Speaker 4: just did his show. He has some people that actually
- 55:09Speaker 4: left his show. It seems like this is something that's
- 55:11Speaker 4: a reoccurring situation, not just with you, but on an
- 55:15Speaker 4: ongoing basis from a variety of different shows.
- 55:17Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
- 55:20Speaker 4: What is the issue, because we would like to try
- 55:23Speaker 4: to avoid this show. To be completely honest with you
- 55:26Speaker 4: about it, At the root of it is trust. At
- 55:31Speaker 4: the root of it is probably trust.
- 55:33Speaker 6: I don't want to speak for anybody else, but looking back,
- 55:36Speaker 6: they clearly didn't trust me, And on the flip side,
- 55:41Speaker 6: I didn't trust them, and no relationship could really prosper
- 55:45Speaker 6: right like that right, Like if I just take what
- 55:47Speaker 6: I've heard them saying, Yo, we want to present we
- 55:49Speaker 6: want some equity or some shit like we want to
- 55:51Speaker 6: own some shit, right, And I take that at face value.
- 55:54Speaker 6: The truth is if from being real, I didn't trust
- 55:56Speaker 6: them in that capacity, And when you have to tell
- 56:00Speaker 6: your friends or when you think trying to figure out
- 56:04Speaker 6: to tell your friends, hey, I don't trust you in
- 56:06Speaker 6: this capacity, it's still unfear for you to say, but
- 56:09Speaker 6: I want to keep you in this capacity, Like if
- 56:12Speaker 6: y'all have a way to go grow and sprout.
- 56:14Speaker 5: I don't want to step on it.
- 56:15Speaker 6: But by the time there's no time that information is
- 56:18Speaker 6: never divulged because on the flip side, there was no trust.
- 56:21Speaker 5: So we are already looking at you a certain way.
- 56:23Speaker 6: So now at the end of the world there's two
- 56:24Speaker 6: three people looking at each other differently.
- 56:28Speaker 5: Yeah, hard to prosper like that.
- 56:31Speaker 8: So I mean, at the end of it, there comes
- 56:33Speaker 8: a time where you have to look at yourself and say,
- 56:35Speaker 8: this show's gonna go on because just the work ofholic,
- 56:38Speaker 8: can you the show's gonna go on? Is am I
- 56:40Speaker 8: gonna do this by myself? Or do I need to
- 56:42Speaker 8: find more people that I have to now trust? Well,
- 56:45Speaker 8: once you be more.
- 56:46Speaker 6: Transparent on, once you once you realize the show is
- 56:49Speaker 6: going to go on, then everything is open blank canvas.
- 56:54Speaker 6: I can do it by myself. I can get some friends.
- 56:57Speaker 6: I can sit here and hold a live audition of
- 57:01Speaker 6: amazing YouTube podcasters to come sit here. I could bring
- 57:05Speaker 6: some girls in here, I could call some lebs in here.
- 57:08Speaker 6: Once you realize it gotta go on, ya got go on?
- 57:13Speaker 5: Go on?
- 57:14Speaker 6: Unless you think unless you think huh, I said that probably.
- 57:17Speaker 8: Would have been live if you had, like, like pick
- 57:20Speaker 8: my next Hoost type situation.
- 57:21Speaker 6: Well, well, if I was VH one or somebody, I
- 57:24Speaker 6: would do that right. If I was Zeus, I would
- 57:27Speaker 6: do that auditions for the real Joe and it would
- 57:28Speaker 6: have went. It would have went, and it would have
- 57:31Speaker 6: went like I'm not a dummy, but nah nah. It
- 57:35Speaker 6: was about the merit, the merit. And I'm glad that
- 57:37Speaker 6: my friends were able to come through at a time
- 57:40Speaker 6: where I needed them. I'm glad they were eager and
- 57:44Speaker 6: willing to improve embark on this journey with me, even
- 57:47Speaker 6: though this is not there if they ain't entertainment and
- 57:50Speaker 6: it's don't give a fuck about the entertainment, that's what
- 57:53Speaker 6: he's saying about that, But he's having good time. I'm
- 57:56Speaker 6: glad they're having a good time. I'm glad I'm having.
- 57:58Speaker 5: It, Like it's so much to be greatful before and this.
- 58:01Speaker 6: I'm glad that, uh everybody else's eye, I'm glad that
- 58:06Speaker 6: this part is able to be like some type of
- 58:10Speaker 6: talent incubator, Like I'm grateful.
- 58:14Speaker 4: Do you see people change over the court like you see.
- 58:16Speaker 6: Something guarantee, guarantee. I wait for it the same way
- 58:21Speaker 6: I'm telling y'all, I'm waiting.
- 58:22Speaker 5: For the ship.
- 58:24Speaker 6: I wait to see because it's inevitable. Yo, When I
- 58:28Speaker 6: got famous or awareness or people start knowing who I
- 58:31Speaker 6: was life adjusted, not because you was changing so much,
- 58:34Speaker 6: but things change now. You got to realize how people
- 58:36Speaker 6: look at you when you're walking in the restaurant.
- 58:37Speaker 5: Little things. It's little things.
- 58:39Speaker 4: So I look for that.
- 58:40Speaker 5: And if I issues here, hey you quit your job,
- 58:43Speaker 5: that means you're around people more.
- 58:44Speaker 4: What's going on.
- 58:47Speaker 6: Now? When when you say some shit it might come
- 58:50Speaker 6: back like a boomerang from from over there?
- 58:51Speaker 5: How does it feel when it happens? Right? Like? There's
- 58:54Speaker 5: so much that goes in the player. That's the fun part,
- 58:57Speaker 5: being able to watch other people go through this step
- 59:00Speaker 5: of success, that's the fun part. How do you prepare
- 59:04Speaker 5: them for it? Because this was this is your vision.
- 59:06Speaker 8: They came in obviously they didn't want to do podcasts
- 59:09Speaker 8: and they just were supporting their brother. How do you
- 59:12Speaker 8: prepare them for What advice do you give it to them?
- 59:14Speaker 8: Because you're starting at the top, right like Joe Buttons
- 59:18Speaker 8: like that's the top, and they're coming in and they're
- 59:20Speaker 8: starting at the top.
- 59:21Speaker 5: How do you prepare them for it? Mentally?
- 59:23Speaker 6: What I tell them is that I am available to
- 59:27Speaker 6: them twenty four seven. If there's ever a question, thought,
- 59:32Speaker 6: or conversation, they want to have about podcasting ever, because
- 59:36Speaker 6: you can never You can try to prepare somebody or
- 59:39Speaker 6: you want, but you don't know what thoughts they take
- 59:41Speaker 6: home with them. So whenever it comes up, let's kick
- 59:44Speaker 6: it about it. I want to be that that would
- 59:46Speaker 6: be nice if I had I have that way in
- 59:49Speaker 6: and Corey likes people I can call right.
- 59:52Speaker 5: But that's helpful, and they use that shit, they use
- 59:57Speaker 5: that shit.
- 59:58Speaker 6: You want somebody that is a w the information that
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: you can go on, just ask some ship and I
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: want it. You gotta trust people. You got to have
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: people that you trust around. If it ain't me, go
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: find to them.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: Before you wrap. I gotta ask you a few questions.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: It so much fun, I don't want to even ready.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: Let's see what time is there? Oh, kick me out?
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Do you you said something? You said something where it
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: was in reference to content creators just making nonsense content?
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: So do you feel like, all right, there's too many
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: people making podcasts and people should not be making podcasts
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: at this point?
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: No, I can never say that.
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: I can never say that because it's been such a
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: great avenue for me, So I want it to be
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: a great avenue for as many people as it can.
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: In that there's a responsibility, and I don't want that
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: part to be ignored because if you're responsible in that,
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: then some of the ship. What's a responsibility as for
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: everybody to determine, it's subjective. It's subjective. But when you're
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: responsible for some shit and invest it in a different way,
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: then you guard it and view it and treat it
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: and protect it a different way. The owner of the
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: house treats the house differently than the renter.
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: So but it's like rap right where you have a
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: lot of rappers that are not good rappers. But the
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: not good rappers actually kind of help in a situation
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: because now the elite rappers, you can tell, is a
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: difference without if everybody was elite, there's no levels. You
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: got to have some levels in life, like you know,
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: you got to have the bench player to recognize the
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: greatness of Lebron. If this is just the All Star team,
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: it's hard to really have a real appreciation.
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: I don't look at it like that. I don't look
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: at it like that at all. I can't rely on
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: somebody else being trash for my greatness to be shined.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Upart I look at me, Yeah, man, I come.
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: We come from. I don't remember how old y'all, but
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: I come from the nineties. Like everybody was great. We're
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: say man, Barbara Walters, Hey Channel seven, they had album
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: whoever was on?
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: All of them niggas was great.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: From immediate from media side, it was a lot harder
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: than the regius.
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: They geniuses around. Fucking uh, it's my man. All of
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: them got the shows now on Netflix. Dave let him in.
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: Fucking they all was great. Hey, let's take it the daytime.
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: They always great. Ricky Lake, Jenny Jones, fucking people's called
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: every every media personality was a.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: Classic Richard Richard Bay Jersey.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: Come on, man, Maury, are you talking about people that's
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: thirty years like?
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: You can't Howard thirn opiate.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: You didn't look around and just see, Oh they're going
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: to drash niggas.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: That nigga's really really, really bad. Yo.
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: Even ESPN, No I love ESPN. Oh man, let me
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: watch out say this, No I love ESPN. The niggas
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: that ain't the greatest, they hide them somewhere. They hide
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: him somewhere. They talk to the niggas. Radio midnight. It's me
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: and Sam Sports. We don't give a fuck.
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: UPPN three and Mexico.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, Hey, but hey but when you
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: cut that TV on in the morning, Mike Greeney is great.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: Yeah great, he's so great. They got the other mic
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: away from him.
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: That's crazy. ESPN blak. Yeah, it ain't good. But there's
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: also barriers.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: That's that's the gatekeeper era, where you have to go
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: to an interview, you have to get greenlit, you have
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: to do so many different things where it's already knocking
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: ninety nine percent of the people. It would have knocked
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: us out of it. Say so, I'm just saying we
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: don't have a background in journalism. We don't have a
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: background times out of ten if we didn't have opportunity
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: to just create content just on our own and figure
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: it out on the way.
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: Wrong, You're wrong. It goes back to what I said
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: in the beginning of this.
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: Good did some of these niggas ain't getting paid good
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: because those that's meant to figure it out, what's gonna
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: figure out regardless, that's I don't know what the bug
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: you said, y'all. Y'all would have figured it out for
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: the nineties in the two thousands now. But I'm saying,
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: don't matter your tools, but great ones adapt and use
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: what the hell is around. But we have opportunity now
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: to do it ourselves.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: You didn't have the same opportunity in the nineties and
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: the two thousands. To do it yourself. You had to
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: get put on through the ABC exactly. That democratize the
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: whole situation, good and bad. Now the bad size that
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: anybody can produce content, right, you gotta deal with that.
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: You always gotta deal with the bad side with the gun.
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: Yeah, that's that, And that's why when when.
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: The would find out about a little low hot clubs
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: and there we're coming.
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: You gotta show the separation.
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: You get the white couch, you get the nicest aura,
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: and here separation.
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: Now you're talking. I was last of the party. No
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: people but you who was coming to my old set around?
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: But you you.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: Number one show is we might spinning on my crazy couch?
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: Is filthy? I said, y'all, y'all want to blame, you're
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: playing playing with me. Hold, let me create the separations.
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: Let me create the separate side conversation trick for y'all.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: Did you put that?
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: You should have put that on Patriots, that outside conversation
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: that we had for three hours about Kanye about that
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: was great that my god, justice was this? Yeah that
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: was That's just that's bonus episode. But you're to blame
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: for a lot of this. Thanks you really feel because
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: how many how many rappers? How many athletes have podcasts
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: now have a strong suspicion that they were inspired by you.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: They saw your transition and like, hey, yeah, that's what
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: I'm saying, I can do the part.
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: The rappers didn't think about these athletes. We always gotta
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: watch these athletes.
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: The athletes they thought they could do it because they
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: saw you do it. They didn't realize the work that
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: goes into it. Plus they couldn't figure out how to
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: monetize it. Have we seen plenty of rappers create podcasts
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: five episodes is over?
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: Yeah they're not.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: And they actually had good numbers out the gate because
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: of because of the riot, because of who they are.
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: Yeah, we shouldn't have showed these athletes ship.
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: I gotta tell you something, buddy, They kicking our ass athletes.
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: Oh my god. It's just see Pat got a show
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: with somebody. Everybody got it was on bar stool. I
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: think I saw saw them with they fucker. Draymond is in.
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: The that's a game time.
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: Hell de pin, I gotta go to the park, work
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: on my jump shot.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: As a podcaster, they this niggas is leaving game seven.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: Let me tell you what.
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: Don't worried about why there were points?
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: Tell you about this future album. It's like, oh my god,
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: Tramon crazy.
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: And the athletes have more finances than than the rappers.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: So they come right off the bat red five Redcamps
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: niggas Cain bouncing off to YouTube.
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: If you think about all the smoke, I love them,
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: love them. I am athlete, love them. I love them all.
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: That's the other part.
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: Athletes do this ship and then go get a job
- 1:07:35Speaker 6: to network. All the networks got sports show Jail, they
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: kick our ass.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: Jaylen got three shows?
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Is that a podcast?
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: He has?
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: Jail got a show everywhere? Every jailing Jacobe. They turned
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: it into a podcast.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: The rappers.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: What rapper has been successful in podcasting on?
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: Jayalen words so much. You got divorced and nobody noticed,
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: Nobody asked about it. Let me tell you about the Celtics.
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: Nobody has that. That's my fan.
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: That's I gotta go back to this because I'm trying
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: to fathom this in my mind, you're not gonna be
- 1:08:06Speaker 8: on this couch, father, but the show is I'm gonna
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: buy it's a nice couch. But I don't know if're
- 1:08:12Speaker 8: gonna say the fat but the show's imprint will be here.
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: Do you what's the what's the future plan for it?
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: If you're not on the couch? Do you see it
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: as like we have this conversation sometimes I'm like, yo,
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: want to.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Park is a brand? Right?
- 1:08:25Speaker 8: It started with aj and Free, but Terrence of Roxy
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: was just as popular. The show went on right with
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: you with the Joe Butten podcast, So it's like that
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: makes it a little bit more difficult.
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: But what what is the goal? Is it? To not
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: be on this couch?
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: Because hey, we might go to syndication from a TV
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: standpoint or standpoint, let me.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: Tell you something.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: If I go unlocked ten or fifteen more boxes like
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: I think I'm about to go do on revenue streams
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: of this podcast, this.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: Is gonna be the Hector podcast.
- 1:08:56Speaker 11: Anybody show watch this every Tuesday everyday.
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: You can just do the show from a truck that's
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: fucked up.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: How do you feel about the word podcast? I don't
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: use it, You don't use it. I don't use it.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Your name is shows show, but podcasts.
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: I know, when do I say that, I say what
- 1:09:27Speaker 6: I want to show, but that's in real life only.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: I'm a podcaster. I never say that I am.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: But how do you you feel like the word? The
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: reason why I asked you is that Dane told us
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: to stop calling show a podcast two years ago, and
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: I got chat from eighty five South he kind of
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: and we did stop calling a podcast and I understand
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: why he said that. And wording is very important. Language
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: is extremely important, and they try to minimize things by
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: how they label it.
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: You fucking right did it with wrap and now they're
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: starting to deal with podcasts. I'm not mad at that
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: at all. My sh it big and they can't fuck
- 1:09:59Speaker 6: with me. So I'm not going to change this yet.
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: But yeah, podcasts, No, I tell you I'm broadcasting. I'm
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: in broadcasting. If I changed this, we would take podcasts
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: off and it would be the Joe Budden Show. And
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: now when you say that, look, even just saying things,
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: your brain just get to go and you see start
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: seeing things differently. I'm telling you that the lits taking
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: the deal.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: Is that trademark it should be should be, he said,
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: so the game the YouTube shorts, well, not for the
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: people that they didn't ruin it for but polluted it.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: They just polluted a little.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Bit muddy the water. Yeah, shout out the Redman.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: It's the difference in me trying to get a deal
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: in the nineties and my son trying to get a
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: deal today. In the nineties, everybody was nice. Everybody was nice,
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: every raper that was out, you had not a rap it.
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: It was nice. Today everybody in nice. But it's a
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: trillion number. It's a different fight for him. I can't
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: really help him. And there wasn't a trillion people on
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: their phone with a verse. I didn't have to deal
- 1:11:02Speaker 6: with all the girls. It's girls now.
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: Fuck, it's.
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: You get it from all angles, buddy, good luck.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Do you feel music is interesting because it's like lyrics
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: were very important in the nineties, but lyrics aren't really
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: that important anymore. It's more of a persona who you are,
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: what you wear, your fashion, all of that stuff. Podcasting.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: Do you think content is still the most important thing
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: or people are buying into the personalities?
- 1:11:29Speaker 9: I've been said it was personalities, personalities, personality.
- 1:11:32Speaker 6: Give me somebody that nobody knows. But as their personality
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: jumps off of the page and sit them ready and
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: making them stuff.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: Podcasts. No, it's personalities. It's people. People drive them, people
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: make them up.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: That's why the ship is whack. As you like, it's
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: your fault. Like y'all shit, just fly y'all teaching some shit.
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: Yeah, but y'all too.
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: Come on, man, we walk in, Come on, man, we
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: walking into buy on the phone.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Closing deal the skyline.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: And yeah, I mean it takes it takes some sauce
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: to do what you do. It takes some sauce, So
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: you better go find them.
- 1:12:10Speaker 8: Are you in a from a standpoint where you you
- 1:12:13Speaker 8: you tried some things and they didn't work.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: Come on, not the e y L sports to tone.
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: Holy shit, O my god, they're going crazy.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: How many pieces the guys got to take? Nine? Do
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: you ever from your experience now? Right?
- 1:12:35Speaker 8: Like I said, being from the ownership standpoint, do you
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: look for that star? Are you in search of it?
- 1:12:41Speaker 8: For that next person that's like, that's a star. I
- 1:12:44Speaker 8: want to bring them over. I need to nurture that
- 1:12:47Speaker 8: person so that they could be the next.
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: Yeah, and this is why this is why you This
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: is the beauty in it I've seen that person a
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: couple of times.
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: And when I go to them and say, hey, why
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: don't we do such and such and such and such
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: and such, they're where they start and they say, I
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: got a big dog, and you love that.
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: You cheer, you cheer that on.
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: That means if somebody's listening around here, I mean somebody's listening.
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: Mhmm, Joey, what's what's what's next to you? Man?
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: What's on your You seem like a renaissance man. You
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: went from music to broadcasting on other people's platforms to
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: having your own platform.
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: You know you're not gonna make a hard left soon.
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: My career is full of lefts. I'm gonna make a
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: hard Hey, y'all doing.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: That cooking, cooking, you.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: Know we're gonna we're gonna spice it up. We're gonna
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: spice it up soon. Man.
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: I want to do it all. I want to do
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: it all as much as I have time to do.
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: I want to do it all. Cooking, show, fucking all
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: the shows, travel, live, Love, Feel, Spend.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: I want to be Anthony Buck. We gotta get him
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: on your love.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: Your love is on his way that.
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: We got to get him on you got to get
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: him on there. I got a girl, give me trouble.
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: Like the voice, it's like in the background, you don't
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: even see his face.
- 1:14:17Speaker 10: Oh he could be the Yeah, I could tell Steve
- 1:14:22Speaker 10: Harvey got his.
- 1:14:25Speaker 8: You know, you know why I support your love because
- 1:14:28Speaker 8: people forget, they forget the details, they forget the incouratacy
- 1:14:33Speaker 8: interests of how to court a woman. Right, and so
- 1:14:36Speaker 8: if we never see it as an example a correct.
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: Right, So the.
- 1:14:42Speaker 8: Fact that you know, like I can say, like I'm
- 1:14:44Speaker 8: in love with my wife, right, or you might be
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: in love with the woman that you're didding. Now, how
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: did you get to that point? What did it take
- 1:14:51Speaker 8: to get to that point? You see what I'm saying.
- 1:14:53Speaker 8: And by you showing the example, now he learns you
- 1:14:56Speaker 8: damn that was fly what he did. Now he treats
- 1:14:58Speaker 8: his girl a little bit different. He takes into a
- 1:15:00Speaker 8: different spot. You see what I'm saying.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: I got a different vision for your love.
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: A little They got to get back to the white boards.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: A little more spicy on my We can have two.
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: We got two versions I need.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: It's gonna be too It's gonna be y'all's version. It's
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: gonna be loving a button, a button of love, love button. Yea,
- 1:15:24Speaker 6: I'm gonna figure it out to it.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: The love buttons are, like I said, you just beat
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: a voice. It's like, yeah, how much money y'all make it?
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: Come on, get to the chase. Let's just get to
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: what everybody wants to know. Are doing more than we
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: made yesterday? So that's always good.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: PR team bore good over there.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: It's never about the money, It's about the purpose.
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: How much value can you add to someone's life? Money?
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: Money can't just throw every every cliche out there. N
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: I appreciate you, man. Any other questions from Joe before
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: we wrap.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: Anything else y'all got for me?
- 1:16:08Speaker 8: Man, Joe nineties, you forty two. I gotta do your
- 1:16:15Speaker 8: top five albums just because.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: Yeah, let's have a rap conversation before.
- 1:16:21Speaker 8: Why you think I'm gonna tell you my favorite Joe
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: Budden song? Because you were my guy for a long time,
- 1:16:27Speaker 8: long time. I used to I had a kid in
- 1:16:29Speaker 8: my class he would not only think he would listen
- 1:16:31Speaker 8: to while he would work with mood music. That's all
- 1:16:35Speaker 8: I wasn't. Yeah it was it was an alternative class.
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: Yeah music altern is class, I say that, but yo,
- 1:16:43Speaker 8: it was crazy. I'm like, yo, listen to bronkay, just
- 1:16:45Speaker 8: get the work done. Favorite favorite song ten minutes, that's
- 1:16:49Speaker 8: one of mine. Two one of my favorites. That's one
- 1:16:51Speaker 8: of mine too. So what's the question the best top
- 1:16:54Speaker 8: I was one of the top five wives I was
- 1:16:55Speaker 8: giving that while he thought of his top five best albums.
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: Ever, man, I don't know. I wouldn't even kick myself
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: in as trying to figure out too many.
- 1:17:02Speaker 8: Great outs not your, not your, just anybody anybody. Yeah,
- 1:17:05Speaker 8: I know you don't have a favorite. No, there's too
- 1:17:08Speaker 8: many great albums that played.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: And let's ask let's ask them some some specific questions,
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: which which album is better ill Madic or it was written?
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: I always say it was written. I always say why
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: do you do it? I didn't do that to you
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: when they specifically told you that this is what I
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: hold against Illmatic. It's thirty nine minutes.
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: And this is before they changed the music limbs and
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: all that with the streaming ship. But thirty nine minutes
- 1:17:38Speaker 6: back then it was considered an EP.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: It's not LP.
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: So it was written when that came was the like,
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: oh ship had a full yea yeah, not short, but it.
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: Was a short album short, yeah, well compared to today
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: as long.
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: Yeah for some of these. Yeah, but so that's that's
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: why I put it was written over not because it's
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: a better album.
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: Both master masterpieces, both masterpiece, but it was written that's
- 1:18:05Speaker 6: yours album. Yeah, that's album, and I.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: Played it more. I do I have an album?
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: Well, ematics the centerpiece of it.
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: Okay, it's my favorite greatest battle rapper of all song
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: get into that?
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: I don't know, and you participated in it as well,
- 1:18:24Speaker 6: But that's y'all. I don't like to box myself. I
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: feel like only hip hop makes us do that, so
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: I don't. I train myself not to do it anymore.
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: That's why. So I don't can't name my five favorite
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: I was stuck on the island. Which albums would I bring?
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: Like? What are you taking? Yeah? I can't. I can't.
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: As far as the battle rappers, I recognize the greats,
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: like the greats. Who's the best? I don't know? But
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: lux like, come on, LUs, move the guys.
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: For me. See, I couldn't do that either.
- 1:18:51Speaker 6: It's a red Man is from here, Trenches from here,
- 1:18:54Speaker 6: and Lauren.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: Is from here. I think it was a rushmore.
- 1:18:57Speaker 6: What do you want me to do and shout out
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: to Ransom killing right now, I'll be out out now.
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: So, I mean, it's just great Jersey's.
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: Doing artifacts from from Jersey to wasn't it artifacts is Newark?
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: It's from Jersey. Yeah, along side of the tracks we
- 1:19:14Speaker 6: got Chill robed g. I mean, don't let me get
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: into Jersey history. But Shack Shack, I claim Tupac even
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: if we're not supposed to have. He was here enough, Tupac. Yeah,
- 1:19:24Speaker 6: he used to live in Jersey outside outside of Tupac's Newark.
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, yeah, the outlaws.
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: I'll go to outside of Newark, but outlaws, That's what
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: I meant. Jersey, Jersey, Jersey, Jersey still Jersey.
- 1:19:38Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, with Jersey. It's Jersey. Man, it's nice
- 1:19:42Speaker 8: over here. I didn't say Latifa's nice Latifa. Yes, that's
- 1:19:45Speaker 8: that labor unit. Yeah, Flavor started all right there, Jersey
- 1:19:49Speaker 8: City downtown. A lot of a lot of days running
- 1:19:53Speaker 8: around there. The King of Jersey City tormenting them, the
- 1:19:56Speaker 8: King of Jersey City easily.
