- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Vam this Monday. I'm kind Aunty Stephen,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Brian Sexton, John Osier with us this morning as we
- 0:21Speaker 1: go over a frustrating Week two lost to the Daguars.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We led un the entire game in Cincinnati and lost
- 0:27Speaker 1: in the final minute to the Bengals. Let's start out
- 0:30Speaker 1: with big thing number one, which is a missed opportunity
- 0:33Speaker 1: and a game where quarterback Joe Burrow was knocked out
- 0:36Speaker 1: in the first half. They went up against back of
- 0:38Speaker 1: Jake Browning but couldn't pull out a win.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's just like dang it, like dang it.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It is early though, It's early, so I'm not gonna splinter.
- 0:50Speaker 2: There's gonna be a lot to learn from it. No,
- 0:53Speaker 2: no excuse at all. I mean, I gotta go win
- 0:56Speaker 2: that freaking game.
- 0:57Speaker 1: But yeah, it was a frustrating one, especially because of
- 1:02Speaker 1: it felt like that was a chance for me to
- 1:04Speaker 1: get to the Bengals and just kind of a lot
- 1:05Speaker 1: of things went wrong.
- 1:06Speaker 3: In that game.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Jas Steel Rods lead, right, I mean, a team that
- 1:09Speaker 4: hasn't won on the road a lot lately, that was
- 1:10Speaker 4: an important one.
- 1:11Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:12Speaker 6: What I reflected on last night was last week.
- 1:15Speaker 4: John In one of his first answers of his Wednesday
- 1:18Speaker 4: press conference, the head coach talked about adversity. His team
- 1:21Speaker 4: hadn't faced any really other than the rain delay against
- 1:24Speaker 4: the Panthers, so he was curious how his team was
- 1:26Speaker 4: going to handle adversity. I thought they handled adversity well.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Right after Burrows scores the touchdown to tie the game
- 1:30Speaker 4: at seven, Jacks go right back down the field.
- 1:33Speaker 6: After they tie the game.
- 1:34Speaker 4: In the third quarter, Jags get an interception and they
- 1:36Speaker 4: scored and take the lead again. It was just they
- 1:38Speaker 4: handled adversity fine. What they didn't hind it very well
- 1:41Speaker 4: was prosperity. Devin Lloyd gave them an opportunity with about
- 1:45Speaker 4: five minutes left to play to seal the deal, to
- 1:48Speaker 4: slam the door shut to grab the win, and they
- 1:51Speaker 4: couldn't take advantage in the red.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Zone and goal to go.
- 1:54Speaker 4: And that's the missed opportunity that I think I feel
- 1:57Speaker 4: the most this morning.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, I always trying to look at the big
- 2:00Speaker 3: picture and sometimes overlook the small picture. And the small
- 2:03Speaker 3: picture was that it was a gut wrenching loss. And
- 2:05Speaker 3: I thought Dewey said it best when it was like
- 2:07Speaker 3: it was like dang, dang, and you just felt like
- 2:10Speaker 3: it was there. I think the spine of what this
- 2:13Speaker 3: team is doing is really good. I thought they overcame adversity,
- 2:17Speaker 3: the offensive line, the running game. You see how they're
- 2:20Speaker 3: gonna do it, and it seems very sustainable and it's
- 2:23Speaker 3: gonna get a lot better. Some key, key, key mistakes
- 2:29Speaker 3: that you can't have cost them, and that's sometimes what
- 2:34Speaker 3: happens when a team is starting to find its footing
- 2:38Speaker 3: in a new regime. This like ninety six Bryant. I mean,
- 2:42Speaker 3: it's so I think they'll find it, and I think
- 2:45Speaker 3: you're gonna go through some of these early as they
- 2:47Speaker 3: iron out some things.
- 2:48Speaker 4: And I know there's a lot of concern and most
- 2:49Speaker 4: of it's about Brian Thomas Junior and drop passes. But
- 2:53Speaker 4: to be honest with you, if you look at this
- 2:55Speaker 4: team and the way that they're doing the things that
- 2:57Speaker 4: they want to do, like John dis touched upon, there's
- 2:59Speaker 4: a lot to like.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Let's go to a big thing Number two, which is
- 3:02Speaker 1: players play. We talked about the wide receivers having a
- 3:04Speaker 1: tough day, including Brian Thomas Junior. Trevor Lawrence talked about
- 3:07Speaker 1: that after the game.
- 3:09Speaker 5: First of all I'd ever want to speak for a
- 3:10Speaker 5: guy in his confidence and where he's at. You know,
- 3:13Speaker 5: I think me and BT have a good relationship and
- 3:15Speaker 5: we do communicate, and you know that's just something where
- 3:19Speaker 5: you know, I gotta be better for him and vice versa,
- 3:21Speaker 5: like we got to help each other out. You know,
- 3:23Speaker 5: I got a there's a couple of plays a day
- 3:25Speaker 5: where I can give him a chance down the field
- 3:26Speaker 5: where I did it. I know there's obviously a couple
- 3:29Speaker 5: of plays that he can make too, And if he
- 3:30Speaker 5: tell you the same thing, So we got to we're
- 3:33Speaker 5: both We're all in it together. It's a team sport.
- 3:35Speaker 5: That's a beautiful thing about it is no one's out
- 3:36Speaker 5: there by themselves.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So Brian Thomas Junior didn't look like the Brian Thomas
- 3:41Speaker 1: junior we saw last year this Sunday, Brian, how do
- 3:44Speaker 1: they fix this?
- 3:45Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:45Speaker 4: I mean, that's the area of great concern this morning,
- 3:47Speaker 4: because this was a guy that you counted on. In fact,
- 3:49Speaker 4: I think I've said on this show a couple of
- 3:51Speaker 4: times he's the best player on this roster based on
- 3:53Speaker 4: what he did last year. But John, right now, he's
- 3:56Speaker 4: not playing like that and they've got to figure that out.
- 3:58Speaker 4: I think it may be as simple as if you
- 4:00Speaker 4: fix what ailes Brian Thomas Junior right now, you fix
- 4:04Speaker 4: the team. You put yourself in a position to make
- 4:06Speaker 4: more plays and extend drives and score touchdowns, and you're
- 4:10Speaker 4: not in a close game like that late and putting
- 4:13Speaker 4: yourself in a position to make mistakes like they did.
- 4:16Speaker 6: You fix Brian Thomas.
- 4:17Speaker 4: And again, I don't know how you do that, but
- 4:19Speaker 4: if you get that righted, you will be in a
- 4:21Speaker 4: good position.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Let's go to our final big thing today, which is
- 4:24Speaker 1: going to be giveaways. As there were some turnovers for
- 4:28Speaker 1: the Dagons through some interceptions and also just a lot
- 4:31Speaker 1: of penalties. We thought kind of illegal shifts in the
- 4:33Speaker 1: game head with me and Colleens discussed what that was about.
- 4:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean first like you guys kind of alluded
- 4:39Speaker 7: to it during the week first time on the road
- 4:41Speaker 7: Silent Cadence, we had some motions and shifts in the
- 4:44Speaker 7: offense in order to take advantage of you know, ninety
- 4:48Speaker 7: one and try to help with ninety one in some ways,
- 4:52Speaker 7: you know, maybe looking at it, we got to go
- 4:54Speaker 7: evaluate did we have too much in the game plan for.
- 4:57Speaker 6: These guys to go execute.
- 4:58Speaker 7: So that's something that we you have to be better
- 5:00Speaker 7: at his coaches to go figure out.
- 5:04Speaker 3: John.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I think we saw five or six illegal shifts in
- 5:06Speaker 1: that game, talking about trying to deal with Trey Hendrickson
- 5:08Speaker 1: a lot of motion for the wide receivers. That was
- 5:11Speaker 1: something we stop penalties in week one. None of the
- 5:13Speaker 1: illegal shifts I think were accepted because the players weren't
- 5:15Speaker 1: working out, but still not something you'd like to see.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I think what we saw yesterday was Liam Cohan's offense.
- 5:23Speaker 3: And Liam Cohen can really coach offense and he can
- 5:27Speaker 3: do it at a high level as always saw yesterday,
- 5:29Speaker 3: and he said it, and he's very transparent after losses,
- 5:32Speaker 3: which is good because he helps you understand it probably
- 5:36Speaker 3: gave him a little too much in terms of the motion.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So much of their emotion enables Trevor in the offense
- 5:41Speaker 3: to identify what the defense is going to do once
- 5:45Speaker 3: this entire roster and the offense gets experience in his scheme.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I don't think you'll see it happen very often, but
- 5:51Speaker 3: I do think they are trying to find that sweet
- 5:54Speaker 3: spot of what they can handle now versus what they'll
- 5:58Speaker 3: be able to handle when they're really in experience fine
- 6:00Speaker 3: tune machine. I didn't love the penalties, but once I
- 6:03Speaker 3: heard the explanation, oh, they have stuff that they can
- 6:07Speaker 3: do that this bunch might not be quite ready for yet.
- 6:10Speaker 3: But we'll be said, all right.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Something to keep an eye on. Stay with us here
- 6:13Speaker 1: on Jagszam. We got a bunch of tape to look
- 6:15Speaker 1: at from the game yesterday in Cincinnati. Teg Man'm brought
- 6:27Speaker 1: to you by UFL, the official healthcare partner of the
- 6:30Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars, also the sponsor for this week's game. Week
- 6:34Speaker 1: three games against the Texans. Welcome back in. There's a
- 6:38Speaker 1: lot of stuff that happened yesterday, so we got a
- 6:40Speaker 1: lot of video to go over, so we're gonna get
- 6:42Speaker 1: right into this. It was nice to see them go
- 6:45Speaker 1: and score on a drive their first possessions, go out
- 6:47Speaker 1: and score. They played from behind a lot last year,
- 6:49Speaker 1: so to see them be it seems like they're gonna
- 6:52Speaker 1: be aggressive, take the ball, kind of go down the field.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Let's take a look at that drive. Let me give
- 6:56Speaker 1: you some good stuff early from them, we treveror you know,
- 7:00Speaker 1: we saw him really focus on the run against the Panthers,
- 7:03Speaker 1: they threw it a lot in this game against the Bengals.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Obviously matchup dependent, but nice to see them out there
- 7:08Speaker 1: kind of looking cohesive, I guess to start the game,
- 7:13Speaker 1: at least from what I.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Saw Ryn, they looked really sharp and Trevor in particular
- 7:17Speaker 4: had all kinds of time to throw. He was pay
- 7:19Speaker 4: shooting in the pocket and allowed things to develop, and
- 7:22Speaker 4: at least on this early drive, his ball placement was excellent.
- 7:26Speaker 1: We get that touchdown earlier, which was good to see
- 7:28Speaker 1: there as they took the lead, and then we're gonna
- 7:31Speaker 1: go now a little bit later with we saw obviously
- 7:34Speaker 1: the traded Tanks to the Eagles last week, but that
- 7:38Speaker 1: meant more time for Bacial Tuton, so we got to
- 7:40Speaker 1: see Tutin. Also Parker Washington had a great game yesterday
- 7:44Speaker 1: so as well. There it was nice to see other
- 7:47Speaker 1: people making plays when given the opportunity. We know what Suton,
- 7:52Speaker 1: We've seen tooton and practice. He's a very fast player,
- 7:54Speaker 1: but to see him have that opportunity out there, John
- 7:57Speaker 1: and didn't show it early he had.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Tutan showed there why they felt comfortable trading Daysty. You
- 8:02Speaker 3: you have to have him on the field on the
- 8:04Speaker 3: screen path. It should have been a four or five
- 8:06Speaker 3: yard game, and he turns it into a seventeen yard
- 8:09Speaker 3: or whatever it was. He turns it into a longer game.
- 8:12Speaker 3: He's really fast, he has great balance. It's going to
- 8:17Speaker 3: be interesting to see how long Travis Etn can hold
- 8:20Speaker 3: him off. And that's not a knock on Travis Atn.
- 8:22Speaker 3: They have two really good running were well.
- 8:23Speaker 6: I got you're right.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I got to said yesterday that the two of them
- 8:27Speaker 4: are going to enhance one another's performance because Travis Etn
- 8:31Speaker 4: is not a two hundred and twenty pounds back.
- 8:32Speaker 6: He takes a beating when he runs in the middle.
- 8:34Speaker 4: When you have a guy who can put in there
- 8:36Speaker 4: and give him a good solid rest in the middle
- 8:38Speaker 4: of the second quarter, or start him and let Travis
- 8:41Speaker 4: come off the bench once they get the rolls right,
- 8:43Speaker 4: you have a real opportunity for those guys.
- 8:45Speaker 3: And I probably phrased that wrong. I'm not sure it's
- 8:46Speaker 3: a matter of holding off. I think it's going to
- 8:48Speaker 3: be a two headed monster in the backfield, because that's
- 8:51Speaker 3: really what the NFL is now unless you have a saque.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Let's take a look at what Burrow and Jamar Chase
- 8:57Speaker 1: were able to get up to while Burrough was in
- 8:59Speaker 1: the game, because obviously they're a dynamic pairing that we're
- 9:02Speaker 1: well aware of. At this point, Jamar Chase is going
- 9:04Speaker 1: to get him no matter what kind.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Of game it is.
- 9:06Speaker 1: But he was impressive to watch the savior.
- 9:09Speaker 4: You know, I don't know if you're going to show
- 9:10Speaker 4: it later, but the screen passed down the Bengals sideline
- 9:13Speaker 4: where it had three defenders on him. How he got
- 9:16Speaker 4: free just shows you what a special player he is.
- 9:18Speaker 4: And Joe Burrow was in traffic and just fired that ball.
- 9:22Speaker 4: It didn't appear he could even see him, but he
- 9:24Speaker 4: knew where he was going to be. He's the best
- 9:27Speaker 4: for a reasoning. No one had more receptions, more yards,
- 9:30Speaker 4: and more touchdowns than he did last year.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm talking about the Jaguars receivers later, and
- 9:35Speaker 3: I don't want to turn this into a show where
- 9:37Speaker 3: you just kill that position group. But you saw the
- 9:39Speaker 3: difference in an offense that knew it could go through
- 9:42Speaker 3: as won and knew it could rely on that, and
- 9:45Speaker 3: knew that it had that to depend on. And right
- 9:49Speaker 3: now the Jaguars can't depend on their wide receivers. Yesterday
- 9:53Speaker 3: they couldn't, and I thought it was a difference in
- 9:55Speaker 3: the game.
- 9:55Speaker 4: I think all of us expect BTJ to be able
- 9:57Speaker 4: to rise towards that level. I don't know if you
- 9:59Speaker 4: ever say to get to Jamar Chase's level, Kai, let
- 10:02Speaker 4: you rise towards that level, and we haven't seen.
- 10:04Speaker 6: It in two weeks.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Tak gonna look at the running backs. ETN had a
- 10:07Speaker 1: big run and then Tuton's touchdown his first of his
- 10:10Speaker 1: NFL career. We talked about what Tuit is gonna bring
- 10:12Speaker 1: to this offense, but also it's given I feel like
- 10:16Speaker 1: Travis DTN has enjoyed Leon Cohen's new offense and the
- 10:19Speaker 1: ability for him to contribute in different ways right where
- 10:22Speaker 1: there's the screen game, whatever it might be, to end
- 10:25Speaker 1: rounds with him, it's exciting to see Travis utilizing different
- 10:28Speaker 1: ways just over the years he's been here. Too many
- 10:31Speaker 1: keep people up now.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Well, back's enjoy when they can run twenty five yards
- 10:34Speaker 3: without being touched, and that's how I thank you guys
- 10:36Speaker 3: like that. But I mean we were talking for the show.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Liam Cohen can really coach the run and the amount
- 10:45Speaker 3: of yards that they get before contact is so much
- 10:48Speaker 3: different than it's been here in the past. It actually
- 10:51Speaker 3: takes them getting used to feeling like, Okay, this is
- 10:55Speaker 3: what they're gonna be right And so to me, we're
- 11:00Speaker 3: seeing in the running game from these two backs in
- 11:02Speaker 3: the line. That's the foundation he's grining that. I think they're
- 11:05Speaker 3: going to be able to build going forward.
- 11:07Speaker 6: And don't forget the wide receivers.
- 11:08Speaker 4: We saw on the play the twenty five yard play
- 11:11Speaker 4: up the sideline by ETN there's Brian Thomas out there.
- 11:14Speaker 4: So people are questioning him today obviously for the drops,
- 11:16Speaker 4: but in that sequence he was down the field blocking
- 11:19Speaker 4: creating space. So the wide receivers have been key contributors.
- 11:23Speaker 4: And of course sleep Cohen cent during training camp they better.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Be Yeah, they've really bought into that. I'm sure it's
- 11:29Speaker 3: because he made him buy into. But nonetheless, the results
- 11:33Speaker 3: are there.
- 11:33Speaker 1: The buian is good. Joe Burrow went down with an
- 11:36Speaker 1: injury in the second quarter and never want to see that.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Looks like it might be turf toe, which depending on
- 11:40Speaker 1: whether it's surgical or not, he could be out for
- 11:42Speaker 1: a month. He did leave this football game, but it
- 11:46Speaker 1: was part of a sack from Eric Armstead. Wasn't on
- 11:48Speaker 1: the foot that he injured, but it was nice to
- 11:50Speaker 1: see some of the pressure that the defensive line and
- 11:53Speaker 1: the ed rushers were getting.
- 11:54Speaker 6: They were getting after Burrow.
- 11:56Speaker 4: I mean he got hit a bunch of times and
- 11:58Speaker 4: the pocket was collapsing all around him. I don't know
- 12:02Speaker 4: how the game would have turned out had he stayed
- 12:03Speaker 4: in it, but you got the sense to the jag
- 12:04Speaker 4: Wards who really geared up defensively to take on Burrow.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, I thot Liam said it best after the game.
- 12:12Speaker 3: They gave up thirty one, But I'm not sure this
- 12:15Speaker 3: defense this year is ready to be a defense that
- 12:18Speaker 3: only gives up ten points a game. They had three sacks,
- 12:22Speaker 3: they had three picks, they had the pick. I'm talking
- 12:26Speaker 3: about that later with den Lloyd. I'm sure they made
- 12:29Speaker 3: the play. They broke serve enough, as I like to say,
- 12:32Speaker 3: for this team to win. And I don't think Liam
- 12:35Speaker 3: on the team playing last night, was thinking, boy, the
- 12:37Speaker 3: defense didn't hold up for us.
- 12:38Speaker 1: No, especially against a team that you know can score
- 12:41Speaker 1: that well.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I mean, you have those receivers, you're gonna score well.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Lit's see if you take away the fifteen play drive
- 12:45Speaker 4: at the end, you think in the defense played pretty
- 12:47Speaker 4: darn well.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Sure, let's take a look at Trevor's second interception. He
- 12:50Speaker 1: had an early interception in the end zone. This was
- 12:52Speaker 1: his second interception of the day. Yeah, I was one
- 12:56Speaker 1: one to Brian Compstonior over the middle. It's a frustrating
- 13:02Speaker 1: situation because I think people have expectations of Ran Thoms Junior,
- 13:06Speaker 1: which are fair based off what you've seen from last year.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It is important for us to remember that trust needs
- 13:11Speaker 1: to go both ways on with a quarterback wide receiver relationship.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And a lot of his success was with Mac Jones
- 13:17Speaker 1: last year. I harp back to that because I'm like,
- 13:20Speaker 1: why isn't it looking the same, And I'm like, well,
- 13:22Speaker 1: maybe it wasn't as as much of a success came
- 13:25Speaker 1: with Trevor as it came with Mac Jones. So getting
- 13:28Speaker 1: that together and I don't know if that's not trusting
- 13:32Speaker 1: going over the middle for him, if that's just a
- 13:34Speaker 1: quarterback thing, if that's his own thing, but that's a
- 13:37Speaker 1: play that you probably expect an NFL wide receiver to make.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I think we can all imagine that there's going to
- 13:42Speaker 4: be a conversation today involving Brian the head coach, maybe
- 13:45Speaker 4: Edgar Bennett, the receiver's coach, and that play is going
- 13:47Speaker 4: to be shown and there's going to be a conversation
- 13:50Speaker 4: about it. It's been the topic of conversation since it
- 13:53Speaker 4: happened last night. It's a tough question to ask. It's
- 13:55Speaker 4: a harder question to answer. I don't have the answer
- 13:59Speaker 4: for other than to say, that's your one and he's
- 14:04Speaker 4: got to play like it.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean stopped on the route.
- 14:07Speaker 6: Yeah, Now there were two defenders bearing down on him.
- 14:11Speaker 3: There's the debate to Trevor throwing it there. I'm a
- 14:15Speaker 3: believer that the receiver has to go get the ball there,
- 14:20Speaker 3: but I'm not the guy doing that.
- 14:22Speaker 1: So also true, Let's look ahead, Jamar Chase, the Tinsley touchdown,
- 14:28Speaker 1: some impressive play. I think coach Cohen talked a little
- 14:30Speaker 1: bit about this late. I don't know if this is
- 14:34Speaker 1: let's look oh yeah, so Jamar Chase catch and then
- 14:38Speaker 1: the Tinsley touchdown. I think Jarian was in coverage for
- 14:41Speaker 1: that one.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Great catch. I mean it was it was catch.
- 14:45Speaker 1: That one was hard to even be.
- 14:47Speaker 3: They have great receivers and they were going to make
- 14:49Speaker 3: some plays and this, uh.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Because that's the guy you give one on one, right, Yeah.
- 14:56Speaker 1: T Higgins, You're like, oh, this will be fine.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Great catching probably could have covered him better, but it
- 15:01Speaker 3: was probably nine point five out of ten coverage. So
- 15:04Speaker 3: they're gonna make plays. And like I said earlier, the
- 15:08Speaker 3: NFL right now is about getting turnovers and making plays
- 15:12Speaker 3: in the moments, and forcing three turnovers should have been
- 15:16Speaker 3: enough to win that game.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Let's look at one of the other turnovers. Do we
- 15:20Speaker 1: got an interception? He had one in sleep one that
- 15:23Speaker 1: was called back with the penalty. Eric Murray also had
- 15:25Speaker 1: an interception earlier. But do we flying in here?
- 15:28Speaker 3: John?
- 15:28Speaker 1: I think he said he looked kind of like Travis Hunter.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Wi can I dive? I was looking down and when
- 15:32Speaker 3: I looked up for a moment, all I saw was
- 15:35Speaker 3: the two and I thought, well, there's that body control
- 15:38Speaker 3: we heard about Travis Hunter and it was due so
- 15:41Speaker 3: now great read it's it's the kind of play this
- 15:46Speaker 3: kid makes. It's why he's in the field. He's smart.
- 15:51Speaker 3: So a good friends last which room it had been.
- 15:54Speaker 4: In and win in Week one? It was an underhand
- 15:56Speaker 4: toss essentially to him like here, get it. The degree
- 15:59Speaker 4: of difficulty for him running back that direction to reach
- 16:02Speaker 4: up and pull it, and then they have the wherewithal
- 16:05Speaker 4: to get up and turn right back up the field. Listening,
- 16:09Speaker 4: I felt like he might get one because he got
- 16:12Speaker 4: robbed of thee in Week one.
- 16:14Speaker 6: He is somebody who is an incredible.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Addition to this defense because last year the safety plays
- 16:20Speaker 4: we all know he was horrendous and he's made a
- 16:23Speaker 4: big difference on there.
- 16:24Speaker 3: A couple of smart safeties back.
- 16:25Speaker 1: There, Eric Murray as well. Absolutely, let's take a look
- 16:28Speaker 1: at T Higgins touchdown tied up the game at the time.
- 16:31Speaker 1: This was a tough one for Tyson Campbell because when
- 16:33Speaker 1: you're one on one with some of these guys' that's
- 16:35Speaker 1: a tough matchup. Wo when Doom comes in late as well,
- 16:38Speaker 1: trying to make the attack when they run into each other. Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and for them to go into score. I think William
- 16:43Speaker 1: Cohan talked post came a little bit about trying to
- 16:47Speaker 1: disguise some things do look not just straight one on
- 16:49Speaker 1: one because their wide receiver course probably the best they're
- 16:51Speaker 1: going to face all year, and that's a tough matchup
- 16:53Speaker 1: for anybody.
- 16:54Speaker 3: They said that was the one time they put a
- 16:56Speaker 3: single on T. Higgins and he said that was mistake.
- 17:00Speaker 3: You don't always call every play perfectly. Say Cam called
- 17:03Speaker 3: a great game on that one. It sounded like if
- 17:06Speaker 3: they had to do over again, they would be in zone.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Well he's a one, right, I mean, I know he's
- 17:10Speaker 4: number two in Cincinnati, but he's six' five and with
- 17:13Speaker 4: the speed once he gets that step on, you with
- 17:15Speaker 4: the with the reach that he has and.
- 17:17Speaker 6: The leaping, ability if the third team quarterback could have thrown.
- 17:21Speaker 1: That touchdown toward, them all, right to take a look
- 17:23Speaker 1: at this kind of red zone sequence where they were
- 17:26Speaker 1: unable to score because they made. It Brian Thomas junior
- 17:30Speaker 1: had some Drops we've discussed, that we'll see that, here
- 17:32Speaker 1: but Also Dianmy brown had a drop touchdown in this
- 17:35Speaker 1: six in this series as. Well that would Get field
- 17:40Speaker 1: the game as. Well so you got TO i mean
- 17:42Speaker 1: as much more pointing the finger Of brian. There there's
- 17:44Speaker 1: a lot of blame to go. Around i'll get into that,
- 17:46Speaker 1: later but there's a lot of people that could have
- 17:48Speaker 1: stepped up that didn't do it at a certain.
- 17:50Speaker 6: Times that's a question it should, be and that's that's a.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Touchdown Then trevor has four touchdowns on the, day and
- 17:57Speaker 4: we're talking about him in more. Gloss then people are
- 18:02Speaker 4: talking about him.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Today, YEAH i don't know if we have a time
- 18:08Speaker 1: to say about, it if they're just drops and they're just.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Mistakes well on that, ONE i Mean i'll point outcause
- 18:13Speaker 3: people are watching, this so we got to say. It
- 18:15Speaker 3: it was the same story as first, Test so you
- 18:18Speaker 3: have to be able to go catch the ball in
- 18:20Speaker 3: traffic in this.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Leap, Yes Devin lloyd had an interception late which also
- 18:26Speaker 1: felt like a gift and looked like he might make
- 18:28Speaker 1: it into the end zone but kind of roll over,
- 18:30Speaker 1: guys knee down and then they called him. Down but
- 18:33Speaker 1: that felt like Another, okay now we can feel it.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Up i'm all. Rephrasing i'm not. Sure i'm not sure
- 18:39Speaker 3: as he was, Now, yeah it wasn't sure, either Whistled
- 18:43Speaker 3: Devin boid also wasn't, down as my next teacher. Exactly
- 18:46Speaker 3: but now it's a hard call for the official to
- 18:50Speaker 3: make because your instinct as an official as you see
- 18:55Speaker 3: that and it's down because he went to the, Ground
- 18:58Speaker 3: BUT i don't think he was down and she had
- 19:00Speaker 3: been a. TOUCHDOWN i think any coach and any player
- 19:04Speaker 3: on this team would say we had the ball on a. Twelve,
- 19:06Speaker 3: yeah we got to score, right but it took away
- 19:10Speaker 3: what a, really really nice play By Devin, lloyd by the,
- 19:14Speaker 3: way who's been criticized a, lot and a nice play
- 19:17Speaker 3: By Devin.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Lloyd, well and, listen that was WHAT i was talking
- 19:19Speaker 4: about off the top of the show about. PROSPERITY i,
- 19:21Speaker 4: mean you have the ball at the twelve yard, line
- 19:23Speaker 4: called what everyone killer. Instinct you got to slam the
- 19:26Speaker 4: door right. There you've got to be in the huddled and,
- 19:28Speaker 4: say no matter, what we're going forward and we're going
- 19:30Speaker 4: to get a touchdown and the game is over right.
- 19:32Speaker 6: There and of course he lose four on first down and.
- 19:36Speaker 4: The throw AND i talked To jeff log him in
- 19:37Speaker 4: this morning and he said that was the throw To
- 19:39Speaker 4: Brian thomas was just.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Fine he should have caught.
- 19:41Speaker 4: IT i totally agreed with the coaches conversation to Have
- 19:45Speaker 4: trevor throw that ball because at the very least you've
- 19:47Speaker 4: got him pinned deep at the. Most throwing it to number,
- 19:50Speaker 4: one you figure you'd get a first down and the game's.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Over, oh that play has been. DEBATE i, mean and
- 19:55Speaker 3: the ozone a. Mailbag, OH i didn't kick the field. Goal,
- 19:58Speaker 3: LOOK i would have kicked the field goal Because i'm
- 20:00Speaker 3: fifty nine years old AND i grew up watching THE
- 20:02Speaker 3: nfl in the. Sevenies new SCHOOL nfl tells you that
- 20:06Speaker 3: the odds are the team can go get a touchdown
- 20:08Speaker 3: and you sleep. Down it is a touchdown high scoring.
- 20:10Speaker 3: League so for fans WHO i got one Email, SANDE
- 20:15Speaker 3: i hope you learned his. Lesson that's what they're gonna.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Do oh, yeah this is what they, are and so buckle.
- 20:19Speaker 1: UP i was Finally i'm going for. IT i would
- 20:21Speaker 1: have liked some run. MORE i feel we got a
- 20:24Speaker 1: little way from the run and maybe when you're having
- 20:26Speaker 1: some drops as, well that might be a good time
- 20:27Speaker 1: because they hadn't stopped the run to that. Point so for,
- 20:30Speaker 1: ME i would have enjoyed a little. More this is
- 20:34Speaker 1: running in and running football.
- 20:35Speaker 6: Team we're not wrong.
- 20:37Speaker 1: From What i've, seen SO i would like to see.
- 20:38Speaker 1: That we'll talk about The bengals last. Drive they called
- 20:41Speaker 1: a passing experience on On Travis hunter there on that
- 20:46Speaker 1: Last bengals, drive which again we don't blame anything on the,
- 20:50Speaker 1: referees but that was a tough. One maybe rookies don't
- 20:52Speaker 1: get that, call but that was a tough.
- 20:53Speaker 6: Call if you see it to.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Give them twenty five yards and kind of get them.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Going the receiver's falling down on his own, accord and
- 20:59Speaker 4: the official is looking back towards.
- 21:01Speaker 6: It and he must have just, thought, well he hadn't been.
- 21:04Speaker 3: PUSHED i rarely fans get very frustrated with me because
- 21:08Speaker 3: people thought about Fish an all the. TIME i don't
- 21:10Speaker 3: talk about. IT i would like to have somebody tell
- 21:14Speaker 3: me What Travis hunter did wrong on that, playoff because
- 21:17Speaker 3: it looked to me like coverage and even turn around
- 21:20Speaker 3: went for the. Wall there's no face guarding in this,
- 21:22Speaker 3: league SO i think on that one bang bang plays
- 21:27Speaker 3: sometimes don't go your. Way BUT i again in the,
- 21:32Speaker 3: Mailbag Travis hunter has been taking some feat for. THAT
- 21:35Speaker 3: i don't know that he deserves heat for.
- 21:36Speaker 4: That what if the official and they wouldn't be because
- 21:39Speaker 4: they have a position they're.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Supposed to be.
- 21:40Speaker 4: In but if the official had been on the other
- 21:42Speaker 4: side of the, play the back side of that, place
- 21:44Speaker 4: there's no chance that he throws that because he would
- 21:46Speaker 4: have seen the guy going down on his.
- 21:47Speaker 6: Own it's a.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Tough, one and then it kind of led to, this
- 21:51Speaker 1: since the rest of this, drive it's a big chunk
- 21:53Speaker 1: play twenty five yards to think to get them, going
- 21:56Speaker 1: and then quarterbacks meets with just a couple of seconds
- 21:59Speaker 1: left in the. Game bengals took their first lead and
- 22:02Speaker 1: they won the game.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Late so it's hard in THE nfl when you have
- 22:05Speaker 3: a fourth down and you stop them and that gets
- 22:09Speaker 3: taken away or and that doesn't. Happen second stops are.
- 22:16Speaker 3: HARD i, mean once you don't get, it you always
- 22:19Speaker 3: kind of feel, like, oh that was their, shot because
- 22:21Speaker 3: it's a league gear doort.
- 22:23Speaker 4: OFFICE i THINK i wrote In Quick thoughts last week
- 22:25Speaker 4: that you can play well and Give Joe burrow just
- 22:28Speaker 4: the sliver of an. Opportunity you play well for fifty nine,
- 22:30Speaker 4: minutes and all of a sudden he can beat. You
- 22:32Speaker 4: so this Morning i'm, WONDERING i Guess Jake brownie could
- 22:35Speaker 4: beat you in, seconds yeahs or fifty nine minutes in
- 22:38Speaker 4: the final minute as.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Well. Oh people talk About burrow so, much AND i do.
- 22:42Speaker 3: TOO i love the, GUYS i love the way the guy.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Plays SOMETIMES i think you talk About burrow so much
- 22:47Speaker 3: that you forget they have the best wide receiver combination
- 22:49Speaker 3: of THE. Nfl and when you have that level it
- 22:53Speaker 3: that level of receiver cannaliate a.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Quarterback, well that's why you go for it on fourth
- 22:57Speaker 4: down inside the you, know the ten yard, line like
- 22:59Speaker 4: they did because they understood the field goal doesn't protect
- 23:02Speaker 4: them from losing the ball game by.
- 23:03Speaker 1: One we're gonna get it or stay with. Us we've
- 23:05Speaker 1: got hot takes for you coming up after the break.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Day damn hot takes brought to you By Firehouse ups.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Nah.
- 23:25Speaker 8: Man that THAT btj man' that's Somebody i'm not worried.
- 23:28Speaker 8: ABOUT i feel like he know who he, is and
- 23:31Speaker 8: he knows he knows who he, is AND i feel
- 23:33Speaker 8: like he's here for a. REASON i feel like nobody
- 23:35Speaker 8: in locker room have trouble with, confidence like were playing
- 23:38Speaker 8: football whole, Lives like we don't get to this point
- 23:40Speaker 8: and lose. Ourselves SO i feel like we had an
- 23:43Speaker 8: utmost confidence IN btj and three round with him to
- 23:46Speaker 8: the whist fall OFF bpn talking.
- 23:48Speaker 1: About Brian Thomas junior's, confidence he.
- 23:51Speaker 6: Didn't go down a locker to give him that.
- 23:53Speaker 1: SPEAK i THINK i think that probably is taking. PLACE
- 23:57Speaker 1: i know Et n's had a lot of. Situations we
- 23:59Speaker 1: think About game one last, year fumble at the goal.
- 24:02Speaker 1: LINE i trust his understanding of being under that kind
- 24:06Speaker 1: of pressure and kind of dealing with. That SO i
- 24:08Speaker 1: think that would be a great resource actually to kind
- 24:10Speaker 1: of talk about. That that's some hot takes for you
- 24:13Speaker 1: On monday From Firehouse. Subs, So, brian what is your hot?
- 24:16Speaker 4: Take keep on, Running keep on, Running AND i want
- 24:19Speaker 4: to use one, Play BUT i want to be, Clear
- 24:21Speaker 4: i'm not criticizing play.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Calling that's low hanging.
- 24:23Speaker 4: FRUIT i rarely do, it So i'm not saying that
- 24:26Speaker 4: they should have done something completely, WELL i GUESS i
- 24:28Speaker 4: am saying they should have run the ball in the.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Situation but they got the ball at the twelve yard
- 24:32Speaker 4: line with about ten and a half minutes to, play
- 24:34Speaker 4: and they were up twenty seven to twenty, four and
- 24:36Speaker 4: they were just driving The bengals off the line of
- 24:39Speaker 4: scrimmage and they.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Got to about the forty yard.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Line you got a four yard toot and run and
- 24:43Speaker 4: a four yard toot and run AND i think it
- 24:45Speaker 4: was at the forty seven and it was third down and.
- 24:47Speaker 6: Two here's my hot.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Take just keep running the football there because As john
- 24:54Speaker 4: talked About Liam, cohen he's really good at getting the
- 24:58Speaker 4: running game going and you driving them off the ball
- 25:02Speaker 4: just keep, going let it be run.
- 25:05Speaker 6: First AND i would not have said this in recent
- 25:07Speaker 6: years they've been terrible on third down and. Two BUT
- 25:10Speaker 6: i have such confidence in their.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Short yardage ability in just two weeks With Liam cohen
- 25:15Speaker 4: and this new. System at that, moment it felt like
- 25:19Speaker 4: you get that first down and you drive down the
- 25:21Speaker 4: field and you chew up a couple more minutes o'clock
- 25:23Speaker 4: and you get another. Score, again it's not as much
- 25:27Speaker 4: play calling as. MENTALITY i want to see him have.
- 25:30Speaker 4: That it's third and, two we're lining up almost, say
- 25:32Speaker 4: we're running right here by the way seven stop.
- 25:34Speaker 3: US i get, it AND i disagree With. Philosophically you
- 25:39Speaker 3: get that, run and you know that you've got the
- 25:42Speaker 3: defense in a position you have set it up to
- 25:45Speaker 3: where these passes that you've worked on to get in
- 25:48Speaker 3: this situation ought to be right. There but it's like
- 25:53Speaker 3: you said at the, top that's why when you're talking
- 25:54Speaker 3: about play, calling it's so, hard because if it, works it's.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Great if it's, not it.
- 25:57Speaker 6: Does but just a critique of.
- 26:00Speaker 4: It Though i'm, everyone may seem like a critique Because
- 26:04Speaker 4: Brian Thomas junior dropped, it maybe catches, it you, know
- 26:06Speaker 4: Maybe i'm not saying. Anything it just felt like in that, moment,
- 26:09Speaker 4: philosophically ye that this team has in a very short
- 26:13Speaker 4: period of, Time kai has got the mentality to convert
- 26:16Speaker 4: those third down plays that we've been talking about.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Since twenty twenty, three WHICH i, think big picture is
- 26:19Speaker 3: an unbelievable thing, because LIKE i said at the, top to,
- 26:22Speaker 3: me what we're talking about with the running, game that's
- 26:25Speaker 3: the spine that you're gonna build this. Thing i'm going
- 26:27Speaker 3: forward and it's been impressive so.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Far, Yep, john what's your hot take for? Us and
- 26:31Speaker 1: then we touched on a little.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Bit, well, yeah And i'll be short because we've talked
- 26:34Speaker 3: about so, much but the receiver thing needs to be
- 26:38Speaker 3: a one off because this is A, SportsCenter big play league,
- 26:45Speaker 3: now and when you get in the, position you work
- 26:49Speaker 3: the whole game to get in position for what six
- 26:52Speaker 3: or seven big, moments and they got in those positions
- 26:55Speaker 3: and despite the interceptions in the first abs by whatever
- 26:58Speaker 3: went wrong the twenty seven twenty four with a chance
- 27:01Speaker 3: to go thirty four to twenty, four and the receivers
- 27:05Speaker 3: that you thought in training CAMP i would have said
- 27:09Speaker 3: was maybe your best one to you, know in the
- 27:12Speaker 3: conversation for this position group didn't play like it except for.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Eleven so eleven needs to. Play he.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Does he's definitely earned a spot on the, field AND
- 27:23Speaker 1: i think just to couch it a little bit is
- 27:26Speaker 1: Where i'm going with mine Is Brian tompsunior had a bad.
- 27:29Speaker 1: DAY i Think Sammy brown had some things that he
- 27:30Speaker 1: could have done much better as a wide. Receiver but
- 27:33Speaker 1: this isn't a point your finger. SITUATION i don't think
- 27:35Speaker 1: that's the only reason they lost that football. Game this
- 27:37Speaker 1: is still a brand new coaching, staff still a brand
- 27:40Speaker 1: new front. Office there's a lot of new players on this,
- 27:42Speaker 1: team AND i think everybody needs to step up and
- 27:44Speaker 1: be a little bit better at what they're doing in
- 27:46Speaker 1: terms of, consistency and we saw a lot of great
- 27:48Speaker 1: things like this is not the teams of last season
- 27:51Speaker 1: where we were completely outmatched and you felt like maybe
- 27:53Speaker 1: you lost an opportunity because you caught a good team
- 27:56Speaker 1: on a bad. Day this is a good. Team they
- 27:58Speaker 1: just need to be more consistent all, around AND i
- 28:00Speaker 1: think that includes. Everybody you. Know when you're talking about
- 28:03Speaker 1: maybe run the ball, MORE i think there are certain
- 28:05Speaker 1: points of that, game especially when you have a lead,
- 28:06Speaker 1: late let's run it a little. Bit they haven't stopped,
- 28:08Speaker 1: it so why aren't you doing especially if you feel
- 28:10Speaker 1: your wide receivers aren't making the catches you.
- 28:11Speaker 6: Want the rankings aren't out yet for this.
- 28:14Speaker 4: WEEK i hadn't seen them this, morning BUT i imagine The
- 28:16Speaker 4: jaguars are top, three top top five at least in
- 28:20Speaker 4: terms of yard per carry average and maybe you, know
- 28:23Speaker 4: yards per game.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Established AND i assume they'll be there in. Takeaway so
- 28:28Speaker 3: when you think about, it if you had said before the,
- 28:31Speaker 3: season if at the end of this season this team
- 28:35Speaker 3: is as good running and taking the ball away as
- 28:38Speaker 3: they've been in the first two, games they'll be in the.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Playoffs you.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Know liam said in one of his post game sound
- 28:44Speaker 4: bites that they were going to go in the look
- 28:45Speaker 4: he was about all those. Shifts you ran it off
- 28:47Speaker 4: the top and look at what they put in the
- 28:49Speaker 4: game plan and see if they didn't have too much in.
- 28:51Speaker 6: THERE i fully.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Expect that he's going to go and look at just
- 28:53Speaker 4: at this that we're talking about now and see it as.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Well he is radically. Transparent he is amazing to listen.
- 29:00Speaker 4: To after a, game he tells you exactly what he
- 29:03Speaker 4: saw what he's. THINKING i, man they got something in.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Him and importantly that translates if he's talking with the
- 29:12Speaker 3: public that. Way clarity and clearness of message and clearness of.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Goal he's told me that to the, players And i've
- 29:21Speaker 3: said it last couple of. Weeks you never know the head.
- 29:23Speaker 3: COACH i knew he. WAS i knew he was an
- 29:26Speaker 3: unbelievable offensive. Mind he can really lead to and that
- 29:29Speaker 3: votes really.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Well say, well we'll tell you what's coming up the
- 29:32Speaker 1: rest of the week here and h coming back.
- 29:34Speaker 3: To Bank DAGs.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Fan if you want to customiz Dag warts furniture for your,
- 29:47Speaker 1: home check got zip cheer dot com about all the customizable.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Options zip chair is furniture for.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Fans that was just one throw.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Out was.
- 29:55Speaker 6: Pissed you, know it is what it.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Is you, know it's not that's.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Emotion it's not personal.
