- 0:27Hey, everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So let's talk about draining yourself physically.
- 0:34You know, I've had so many conversations with people this
- 0:37summer who have gone on and said how much they just can't stand
- 0:42the fact that the heat has really physically wiped them
- 0:44out. And that's probably very true.
- 0:46It's happened to me cleaning out the girls coop, you know, every
- 0:49couple of weeks. I have to.
- 0:52I don't have to. Let me rephrase.
- 0:53I choose to take all the straw out of their coop and swap it
- 0:58out with fresh straw. And it's a huge project because
- 1:01it's a lot. It's a big coop.
- 1:02I want them to be cozy and comfy, and I give them clean
- 1:06straw. At least you know.
- 1:08Every two weeks, 2 1/2 weeks, 3 weeks they get that straw
- 1:12cleaned because it's gross to have poop everywhere.
- 1:15Let's just face it. And I'm not one of these people
- 1:18that says, oh, you don't have to change it, they're only
- 1:19chickens. Nope, They are not only
- 1:21chickens, they are my partners in crime.
- 1:24They are out here. They make our mornings joyous
- 1:27talking to you on this and they get this changed out.
- 1:30But changing it out can be physically exhausting,
- 1:33especially in the heat. It takes me like 2 1/2 hours to
- 1:36do everything that I need to to strip.
- 1:38Your coop out, clean it and set it back up.
- 1:41And when you are physically drained, you have to take care
- 1:45of yourself. And oftentimes we just try to
- 1:48push through, push through, push through, push through.
- 1:51There's certain things that. I can do all day long, like walk
- 1:55while I talk to my clients. I walk, I walk about.
- 1:58Well, this week was interesting because I did over 50 miles of
- 2:02walking this past week. I did a lot of sessions and I
- 2:06did over 50 miles of walking according to my Fitbit, which
- 2:10was awesome. I loved it and it's physically,
- 2:13you know, so good for you. And in the heat, it can be
- 2:18draining, so I have to make sure I'm doing a good job
- 2:21replenishing myself when I changed the coop out yesterday,
- 2:24physically draining. Have to make sure I replenish
- 2:27myself. And sometimes we don't want to
- 2:30listen to that piece. Sometimes we want to try to
- 2:32force something like, no, I can suck it up and I can get through
- 2:35it. I don't need to go to bed early
- 2:37or I don't need to, you know, take that nap or I don't need to
- 2:41do certain things. But here's the issue.
- 2:43If you don't, you start to stack on top.
- 2:47That resentment of exhaustion. And it's not just the physical
- 2:51exhaustion, but it becomes the resentment of exhaustion.
- 2:54And when you're in resentment of something, it gets ugly in your
- 2:58head and then you become, quite frankly, just plain old bitchy.
- 3:02And once that happens, well, there we go.
- 3:05We're not coming back from that one anytime soon, unless you're
- 3:07very aware of who's driving the bus and you can snatch the wheel
- 3:11from her hands and move on. So what's so important is to
- 3:17recognize it is not a bad thing to say.
- 3:20Hey, I am physically wiped out right now.
- 3:23I need to replenish myself. It is not a bad thing.
- 3:26It's actually very helpful when you can recognize it and do
- 3:30that. You know, part of my renewal of
- 3:33myself being physically drained every day is to be able to sit
- 3:37and say okay at night. I watch a show every night
- 3:41because. And I know there are people out
- 3:43there that say stay away from television and I stay away from
- 3:46all television. I I selectively will watch a
- 3:50show, and if the show is too dark, I won't watch it.
- 3:54If the show is something that's uplifting, I'm happy to watch
- 3:58it. I will find things.
- 3:59I will watch classes on art, painting, doing all kinds of
- 4:03different things. I have to watch something that
- 4:07kind of. Allows me to wind my brain down
- 4:10because I'm so wound up all day from coaching and writing and
- 4:15recording and doing all the things that I'm doing.
- 4:17I just need to like, chill my brain, Physically chill my brain
- 4:22when I start to do it. Chills my body out.
- 4:24So recognizing what do you need incredibly important and really
- 4:29listening to the body when you say when it says I'm physically
- 4:32drained, don't try to caffeinate the hell out of yourself to get
- 4:35someplace better. You know that rare?
- 4:38Rarely is healthy, rarely is healthy.
- 4:41So it's so important to say, hey, listen, I've got to pay
- 4:45attention here. I've got to eat some great food,
- 4:49clean food. I've got to do something that
- 4:51says I've got to hydrate myself. I've got to be on point because
- 4:55this is not good for me and once you do it, you feel fantastic.
- 5:00Perfect example. Cleaned out the chicken coop.
- 5:03Completely drained yesterday. Had no choice.
- 5:07Had to go ahead and just feel completely wiped out by the
- 5:11whole prospect of doing so. And then I had to take a break.
- 5:16Had to take a break. Had to take a break.
- 5:19There was no question about it. Went to bed early and slept
- 5:23straight for about 10 hours. When I got up, I was like, OKI
- 5:28feel fantastic. I feel fantastic.
- 5:31Why? Because I listened to what I
- 5:33needed and I didn't ignore it. Do yourself a favor.
- 5:37Take the physical break you need.
- 5:39All right, my friends. I will see you tomorrow, and I
- 5:41hope you have a blessed day. Bye.
