- 0:31Speaker 2: Seemen Team sixers, empty six ers that are listening MPT
- 0:35Speaker 2: six ers. March fourteenth is Steak and blow Job Day.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm just I'm throwing that.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Out there, which is a great way to get the
- 0:41Speaker 3: family together to pregame for a little Saint Patti's Day.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah, we love talking traditions, weekly traditions, holidays.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You know it's manual traditions, just another one to throw
- 0:51Speaker 1: out there. Absolutely, we have a wide range.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Of topics that we are going to talk about today.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Ru and Mom went to dc ru is very sad
- 0:59Speaker 2: to leave. Dad got to say internally, I was like
- 1:01Speaker 2: kind of stoked on how sad she was, because it
- 1:04Speaker 2: made me feel.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Like, like, Okay, I'm doing I'm doing a.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Solid job, and you're gonna be gone for a long time.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You had a babysitter come over in game night. We
- 1:11Speaker 2: have a lot and I have a an awesome, an
- 1:15Speaker 2: awesome newsletter thing that I came across on X and
- 1:19Speaker 2: I'm going to read at the end of the episode
- 1:21Speaker 2: from this here from Derek Thompson. It's three reasons to
- 1:25Speaker 2: be a parent in the short, little the short, little
- 1:27Speaker 2: right up. The short, little new newsletter was phenomenal. We're
- 1:30Speaker 2: going to hit that at the very end.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Guys.
- 1:32Speaker 2: We love building community. We have a show starter here
- 1:35Speaker 2: about a little one being born from the release. This
- 1:39Speaker 2: releases at six am. This this Baby's coming out what
- 1:42Speaker 2: an hour after release and it was not planned around
- 1:46Speaker 2: for the dads. But my man here Marcus Sesson on
- 1:49Speaker 2: Facebook said he didn't hesitate to push for a Wednesday
- 1:52Speaker 2: do date knowing that this pod dropped for the scheduled
- 1:55Speaker 2: te section.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So I'm just gonna read.
- 1:56Speaker 2: This to shout out, shout out the community. Please sending
- 1:59Speaker 2: this just to Deeke Sherman for The Dad's Pod because
- 2:02Speaker 2: in typical New Dad fashion, I currently only have have
- 2:05Speaker 2: Facebook for social media, cry laughing emoji boys.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I's been watching for the Dad since day one.
- 2:10Speaker 2: So it just happened that my wife and I had
- 2:13Speaker 2: just completed buds training prior to the podcast launching. If
- 2:16Speaker 2: there's new listeners out there, buds training is breeding until
- 2:19Speaker 2: Dad status. It's been a while thirty eight weeks for us,
- 2:21Speaker 2: which included a kidney stone, some fibroid complications did I
- 2:26Speaker 2: say they're right? Fibroid fiboid fibroid complications, yeah, and.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Multiple trips to the er.
- 2:32Speaker 2: My wife has been an absolute stud throughout the whole process,
- 2:34Speaker 2: and God has kept our daughter safe, healthy and growing
- 2:38Speaker 2: currently seven pounds two ounces at thirty six weeks, gonna
- 2:42Speaker 2: be a unit just like her.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Old man was good good all to say that.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I didn't hesitate to push for a Wednesday due date
- 2:47Speaker 2: when scheduling our c section, knowing that you boys always
- 2:50Speaker 2: dropped the pod on that day. He would mean in
- 2:52Speaker 2: the world to me and my wife Katie Joe and
- 2:56Speaker 2: what are and what will be our first born daughter,
- 3:01Speaker 2: Mia Everett to have a shout out that they will
- 3:05Speaker 2: be able to revisit this for years to come. Our
- 3:07Speaker 2: c section is literally scheduled for seven am on March eleventh,
- 3:11Speaker 2: Central Standard Yes, Central Standard time, so my Mt sixer
- 3:15Speaker 2: that also doesn't miss an episode of the pod will
- 3:17Speaker 2: more than likely be watching it.
- 3:19Speaker 1: For from her recovery bed.
- 3:21Speaker 2: This community that you boys have created is exactly what
- 3:23Speaker 2: dads and families need, a space that reminds us all
- 3:25Speaker 2: to be present, intentional, and authentic for our children and
- 3:29Speaker 2: our partners. Marcus s congratulations. Shout out me Everett coming
- 3:35Speaker 2: into the world.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I was just about to.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Say, Mia Everett, Hello, Hi, Mia, picture, I'm grabbing you.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm grabbing your little hand right now. If you can
- 3:45Speaker 1: hear this right now. Welcome to Earth. Yeah, welcome to
- 3:49Speaker 1: the war the dads. You're surrounded by people that love you.
- 3:52Speaker 1: We're excited to have you. Good stuff good. So it's
- 3:57Speaker 1: awesome by Marcus. Congratulations to you guys. That's just a
- 4:00Speaker 1: glimpse the way he the way he summed that up
- 4:02Speaker 1: with the community and being present, intentional and authentic for
- 4:04Speaker 1: our children and our partners is exactly what the show
- 4:07Speaker 1: is about. It all while massively failing along the way.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I think we can all say that Papa Team six,
- 4:12Speaker 2: all of us collectively, the community that watches this, we
- 4:15Speaker 2: are an alliance that this is also a lot about
- 4:17Speaker 2: failing and learning from our fans and just wanting to
- 4:20Speaker 2: be the best, even though there's no barometer on what
- 4:23Speaker 2: like being a great parent is you and you intuitively
- 4:27Speaker 2: know how well I feel like you're doing most of
- 4:30Speaker 2: the time because I have one here and again. We
- 4:32Speaker 2: read comments on this show, whether we're on social media
- 4:35Speaker 2: at for the Dad's Pod, Spotify, YouTube comments, anywhere else.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Email if you want to reach out to us and
- 4:43Speaker 2: be featured on the show, writing in leaving comments, that's
- 4:46Speaker 2: obviously the best way to do it. If you want
- 4:48Speaker 2: to be a true PT sixer and call in to
- 4:51Speaker 2: our little hotline where you convent you can talk about
- 4:53Speaker 2: a win, a loss at Dad Hack, put dads on
- 4:55Speaker 2: game that we that we hit later in the episode.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Our hotline number is six to oh one, the as
- 5:00Speaker 2: six to oh one the dads. You call in, you
- 5:02Speaker 2: leave a voicemail. If you get featured on the show,
- 5:04Speaker 2: we send you free merchandise. Who send you a little
- 5:06Speaker 2: dad care package. Pop A Team six care package. Come
- 5:09Speaker 2: on if you want to write a longer version, whether
- 5:11Speaker 2: it's asking us a question or telling us a story, anything.
- 5:14Speaker 2: If you've listened to this episode, you already know what
- 5:16Speaker 2: I'm talking about. But if you're new and you don't
- 5:18Speaker 2: want your voice to be on a hot line, or
- 5:21Speaker 2: you are international and can't call on it from a
- 5:23Speaker 2: you know, call to a hotline on American soil, Yeah yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 2: that number or that email is six to oh one.
- 5:29Speaker 2: The Dad's at gmail dot com. You can write in
- 5:32Speaker 2: an email. We read emails, we read comments, We listen
- 5:34Speaker 2: to hot line.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yep.
- 5:35Speaker 2: We talk about our dad life, things that we're doing,
- 5:38Speaker 2: things that we're going through, learning as a parent, learning
- 5:41Speaker 2: as a spouse, growing pains, everything. We break all that down.
- 5:44Speaker 2: We have a lot of fun. We think of it
- 5:46Speaker 2: as dads just sitting around the garage having some cold ones,
- 5:48Speaker 2: having some cold hollypop.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And have they maybe making an off colored joke. So
- 5:53Speaker 1: we joke, we said a joke about I ran last week.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Thank god, there's no pushback. Why so we told the
- 6:00Speaker 1: guy to drive safe where seatbelt?
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, But all to recall any dads that kind
- 6:05Speaker 2: of forgot a little bit about last week's episode. We
- 6:08Speaker 2: have some dad brain every now and then, we had
- 6:09Speaker 2: some fun little comments or we have some fun little comments. Yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 2: to read here, but just to talk about a couple
- 6:15Speaker 2: of PT sixers that tuned in last week Noon in Podcast.
- 6:19Speaker 2: This is a comment on YouTube from Noon and Podcast.
- 6:23Speaker 2: As a PT sixer who's a single dad, I needed
- 6:25Speaker 2: the conversation on no last week. I struggled with my
- 6:28Speaker 2: son when I tell him no, when he gets upset.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I need to do a better job of controlling my emotions,
- 6:33Speaker 2: my own emotions during these tantrums, so that hopefully that
- 6:36Speaker 2: sets a better example for my son to hopefully learn
- 6:39Speaker 2: from them.
- 6:41Speaker 3: So that slid dude, that is solid. Who was that again?
- 6:44Speaker 3: This was from Noon and Podcast? Oh it was another podcast.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm apparently at Noon and Podcast seventy two zero one
- 6:52Speaker 2: three days ago on our YouTube channel.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Hey shout out, no free shout out.
- 6:55Speaker 2: That's the game most of the time is like you
- 6:57Speaker 2: know you, we would always love to go win perfectly.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It's like crystal ball. We do a little bit of
- 7:03Speaker 2: breath work before we walk into the house. So we
- 7:05Speaker 2: do a little bit of breathwork before this tantrum comes.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So we're we're a thermostat. But a lot of times,
- 7:10Speaker 2: you know, you can go sideways whenever it gets it
- 7:12Speaker 2: gets bad, or it gets a little too long for
- 7:15Speaker 2: your liking. You're you're kind of sitting there with them
- 7:17Speaker 2: in their emotion and you're kind of being stoic about everything,
- 7:20Speaker 2: and then eventually it gets a little too long.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And you pop your lid. As well. That's ever a
- 7:25Speaker 1: good thing.
- 7:25Speaker 2: You use all your skills, you throw the toolbox at
- 7:28Speaker 2: them with trying to help them and be with them
- 7:30Speaker 2: and everything else. But a lot of times, as a dad,
- 7:32Speaker 2: you walk away from a situation I know I do
- 7:34Speaker 2: where I'm sitting there thinking about how I could have
- 7:37Speaker 2: handled something differently, you know what I mean, And as
- 7:39Speaker 2: I've talked about on previous pods, where you circle back
- 7:42Speaker 2: and do like a follow up conversation just to let
- 7:44Speaker 2: her know, Like number one, it's like apologize if she
- 7:47Speaker 2: feels like dad was being mean or you yourself a second,
- 7:50Speaker 2: I did go a little sideways in that moment, and
- 7:53Speaker 2: then explaining the reasons why, here's how we can collectively,
- 7:56Speaker 2: you know, make progress like going forward. Yes, you know
- 7:59Speaker 2: what I mean. You're having like a like everyone's like
- 8:02Speaker 2: a performance review with them.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yes, everyone's learning in that situation and the stadium pulse
- 8:08Speaker 3: of a tantrum, I'm being introduced to it with Scarlett's
- 8:13Speaker 3: cries and screams are getting very loud, and uh, I'm
- 8:17Speaker 3: already like, man, this is gonna be scary when she
- 8:20Speaker 3: knows how to formulate her thoughts into sentences with that
- 8:24Speaker 3: volume in pitch, I'm.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Gonna be in the chamber. I gotta be ready to go.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Their little brains develop, Yeah, spoiler alert brings developed. We
- 8:33Speaker 2: spoiler spoilers for New New Parents for it. It's like
- 8:36Speaker 2: there think they're they're like thinking about everything. They don't
- 8:39Speaker 2: have control over all their thoughts and emotions obviously, Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 2: they don't know how to articulate them, and it comes
- 8:44Speaker 2: out it projects out as like tantrums. Yes, if you
- 8:47Speaker 2: can't adapt, distract and overcome. If you can't distract them,
- 8:50Speaker 2: that's usually the best thing is removing them from a situation,
- 8:52Speaker 2: like going outside looking at the birds, looking at the trees,
- 8:56Speaker 2: getting the crying to kind of stop, and then just
- 8:58Speaker 2: kind of having a little conversation with them. Do you
- 9:00Speaker 2: want to go back inside? Do you want to do this?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Depending on what age that they're at. That's always usually
- 9:06Speaker 2: been the best, and that was distract what adapt, distract,
- 9:11Speaker 2: overcome tantrum happens.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You have to adapt.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Your perfect little child isn't being perfect in front of
- 9:17Speaker 2: people in public to where you might be in your
- 9:20Speaker 2: own head of like, man, what are people thinking? Obviously
- 9:23Speaker 2: you want to block out that noise. But you are
- 9:25Speaker 2: now seeing a situation where you have to adapt. You
- 9:28Speaker 2: have to adapt to your toddler. You have to adapt
- 9:30Speaker 2: to your little one. You have to distract them. Distracting
- 9:32Speaker 2: is the best toolbox that you can use. Sting, calm, sting, poise,
- 9:36Speaker 2: staying in the pocket. Let's go through our progression here,
- 9:39Speaker 2: Let's adapt. Hey, there's an exit. Let's remove them from
- 9:42Speaker 2: the situation. Let's just go talk to him, get them
- 9:44Speaker 2: calmed down, like I said, looking at birds, looking at trees,
- 9:47Speaker 2: feel in the air, Oh do you feel the wind?
- 9:49Speaker 1: Whatever it is. There's a car. Oh my gosh, look
- 9:51Speaker 1: at that over there.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Distract them and you overcome the situation. Overcome the situation.
- 9:56Speaker 2: If you have an older one, rubbing almost four makes
- 9:59Speaker 2: me sadder every.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Every every day. That's a big number.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but ru.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Is one adapt Distract, distraction, doesn't work as much because
- 10:08Speaker 2: they have more of a grip of what their emotions
- 10:10Speaker 2: and what their feelings are to where they're doing their
- 10:12Speaker 2: best to articulate. Or ru's a big solver, or she
- 10:15Speaker 2: wants things solved. She's very independent. She wants them solved immediately.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So something goes sideways and she wants it a particular way,
- 10:21Speaker 2: she can get off the tracks a little bit, So
- 10:24Speaker 2: the distraction with her is almost like distract removing her
- 10:26Speaker 2: from the situation, getting down on her level, having a
- 10:29Speaker 2: conversation with her and talking through This is why it's
- 10:33Speaker 2: okay to ask for help. This is why it's completely
- 10:36Speaker 2: fine to fail at things or not like that is tough,
- 10:39Speaker 2: That is very frustrating. I know you want to get
- 10:41Speaker 2: it right the first time. Then I'll bring up examples
- 10:43Speaker 2: of her riding her bike or getting on the scooter
- 10:45Speaker 2: or things, swimming, things that she's gotten better at to
- 10:47Speaker 2: where there's there was a needed progress to take place
- 10:51Speaker 2: before you could just jump in the pool to where
- 10:54Speaker 2: you're kind of leveling with them like, hey, that is
- 10:56Speaker 2: going to be hard. I know that didn't go the
- 10:58Speaker 2: way you wanted it to go. Back in here, we're
- 11:01Speaker 2: all good now. I'm sure you know, you start labeling
- 11:04Speaker 2: their emotions. They're probably embarrassed that they were crying in
- 11:06Speaker 2: front of everybody. Yeah, but you bring them back into
- 11:09Speaker 2: the fold, and that is how you overcome. A small,
- 11:11Speaker 2: little example of a situation.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Someone that also needed to adapt, distract, and overcome in
- 11:17Speaker 3: a huge way from our last episode is Trenton Cleins. Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 3: he's the one hundred and thirty seven miss Calls guy
- 11:26Speaker 3: remember that one. Yeah, yeah, I was the one hundred
- 11:29Speaker 3: and thirty seven miscalls guy. Voicemail on the pod today
- 11:32Speaker 3: and one to give an update. So this is this
- 11:35Speaker 3: is live. Not only was I three hours away, but
- 11:40Speaker 3: my wife was also coaching a volleyball tournament in Tulsa,
- 11:44Speaker 3: about two and a half hours from home.
- 11:46Speaker 1: She's an absolute sicko.
- 11:50Speaker 3: That's a I forget how many weeks pregnant she is,
- 11:54Speaker 3: but like she was literally about to pop.
- 11:56Speaker 1: She is a sicko. She drove herself home at a
- 12:00Speaker 1: I'm eleven PM. Of course she did, yeah et six
- 12:02Speaker 1: or just what you said, it would us sick out.
- 12:06Speaker 3: She thought her water broke, so she was like, oh,
- 12:08Speaker 3: I'll drive home really quick, make sure if it did
- 12:11Speaker 3: or not. Then finally got ahold of him at four am,
- 12:15Speaker 3: when the water actually broke. They both made it to
- 12:19Speaker 3: the hospital. Luckily, they already knew that they had to
- 12:22Speaker 3: do a c section because the baby girl was breach,
- 12:26Speaker 3: so they planned it as soon as they got on
- 12:28Speaker 3: a call with the doctor and showed up.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Everything was good to go.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Baby and mom are doing great and we got to
- 12:35Speaker 3: come home on Tuesday. Thank you all, love you guys.
- 12:40Speaker 3: That's tritting clients.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Thank you trend for the update. Ten and a half
- 12:43Speaker 1: hours wait for a volleyball tournament. That is sick.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and Oklahoma does have some good gay hunting,
- 12:49Speaker 3: so that Mike see him.
- 12:50Speaker 2: That is that's a mentality of I'm not adapting to
- 12:54Speaker 2: the world. The world will adapt to me, yes, sir, Yeah, yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 2: like I'm going, I'm carrying all. We got a volleyball tournament.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I'm close to pop in Like good, that's as you
- 13:03Speaker 2: love to say. That's a thermostat. Yeah, that's a thermostat.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Oh water Brooke. Let's see if I make it back
- 13:08Speaker 1: two and a half hours home for a drive, like good.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I dare you. Let's play.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Let's play this little game I like to call is
- 13:15Speaker 3: the baby coming or not. Yeah, low steaks, low steaks.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I also have from Joe Thomas. You boys have been
- 13:23Speaker 3: putting out the best sodes yet these past few weeks.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Appreciate the heads up for March fourteenth, which you so
- 13:29Speaker 3: graciously brought up a few days, few.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Days from now.
- 13:32Speaker 2: If you're listening right now, a few days from now,
- 13:34Speaker 2: how many days away are we? So it will be
- 13:36Speaker 2: three days? Three days listeners are hearing this that does
- 13:39Speaker 2: involve Let me just check the calendar. March fourteenth and Saturday. Oh,
- 13:44Speaker 2: great day of the week, March. Great day for some
- 13:47Speaker 2: grilling of steaks.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Rather you like to do a reverse year. Maybe
- 13:52Speaker 1: you like to do the chef.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I know you love doing some steaks in the oven
- 13:56Speaker 3: sometimes keep the juices in as long as possible.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Uh yeah, on the steak. Yeah yeah, I was thinking too, Yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 1: on the steak.
- 14:06Speaker 3: And then you're saying, obviously we know what comes after
- 14:09Speaker 3: the steak, and I believe the steak is prepared by
- 14:13Speaker 3: wifey as well. You do not have to practice that.
- 14:16Speaker 3: If you want to practice it, the pet sick but
- 14:19Speaker 3: grill butter it up.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Butter butter it up? Do it?
- 14:24Speaker 3: Uh? Do it Chicago style? Get some grilled onions on there.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Uh what's the uh one where they put the oyster
- 14:33Speaker 3: on top of it?
- 14:34Speaker 1: What's that called of the steak? Sometimes crotter on there? Yeah,
- 14:40Speaker 1: a little surf and turf. Yeah yeah, hey, surf and turf.
- 14:45Speaker 1: That's a nice paper. Is Pittsburgh styles the Pittsburgh rare? Yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh evenhere they black and.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Then it's just bleeding on the inside. Just quickly, just
- 14:57Speaker 3: get it rolling O. So yeah, Steak and blow Job
- 15:02Speaker 3: Day is coming up. I put on my wife and
- 15:07Speaker 3: i's joint calendar. Good job, Joe. She will be thirty
- 15:10Speaker 3: seven weeks pregnant at that point.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Joe. That sounds ideal for you and your sweet empty SICKO. Hey, sweet, look,
- 15:19Speaker 1: I know you're on the drying Master. I was listening
- 15:22Speaker 1: for the dads. You know what you listen to it?
- 15:25Speaker 1: You just let me know what your thoughts are. I'm
- 15:27Speaker 1: about to fucking few. What is this from a podcast?
- 15:33Speaker 1: Shut the fuck up? Who is who is Willie one shelf?
- 15:39Speaker 1: What is a fat Stafford? Let's hope the stars aligned
- 15:42Speaker 1: for your boy. Baby girl number two is due on
- 15:46Speaker 1: three twenty six, but she might come earlier. Any advice
- 15:50Speaker 1: for the second kid, and how to get my firstborn
- 15:52Speaker 1: daughter to address to having.
- 15:53Speaker 3: A little sister. She has quite the sassy personality. This
- 15:58Speaker 3: will be interesting. Pet sicko, pet fit out. I feel
- 16:02Speaker 3: good about this one. This one feels in my ballpark.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Roue.
- 16:07Speaker 2: She's got a sassiness to her, very much like a
- 16:10Speaker 2: very much like a firstborn type a.
- 16:12Speaker 1: All the things she wants to be involved. She wants
- 16:14Speaker 1: things to go her way.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you try and manipulate the game to make her
- 16:17Speaker 2: feel like things are going her way. But second one
- 16:21Speaker 2: coming in what we did with Rue is making Rue
- 16:25Speaker 2: a part of the experience, like making her a part
- 16:28Speaker 2: of this newborn, this next child, next kid, Scotti. She
- 16:33Speaker 2: is entering into our family. Rue, you are a part
- 16:36Speaker 2: of this family. So when Mama had Scotty and we
- 16:39Speaker 2: were sitting there with Scotty, whenever we were bringing Rue
- 16:43Speaker 2: to introduce her to Scotty. And I know I've said
- 16:45Speaker 2: this on previous possible man's asking a question, So any
- 16:48Speaker 2: new listeners anything for your second child. As I'm bringing
- 16:52Speaker 2: Rue into the hospital room to check on Mom, the
- 16:55Speaker 2: entire goal is let's check on Mom first and then
- 16:58Speaker 2: we will introduce you to Scotti. And Rue comes in
- 17:01Speaker 2: the room. Our our nanny was holding Scottie. So that
- 17:04Speaker 2: way Mom is just laying on the bed by herself
- 17:07Speaker 2: and checking on mom. Crawl up on bed, hug mom,
- 17:10Speaker 2: checking on Mom, be excited for Mom. So that way,
- 17:12Speaker 2: when Ruth comes in, it's like you're you know, we're
- 17:15Speaker 2: dealing with very you know, the developing brain. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 2: So we're walking in the science or the research or
- 17:21Speaker 2: the things that I was reading on this is that
- 17:24Speaker 2: if your first one walks in and mom is holding
- 17:27Speaker 2: the second one, This isn't like across the board. This
- 17:29Speaker 2: isn't like an aggressive opinion that I'm about to say.
- 17:32Speaker 1: This is just what I was reading.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, that's fascinating, Like I can get my head,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I can wrap my head around that. But your first
- 17:38Speaker 2: child sees mom holding the second one. The first child
- 17:41Speaker 2: in their eyes and in their brain, they are your
- 17:45Speaker 2: entire world. And now mom is holding the second baby.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Not that they throw a tantrum, not that they get upset,
- 17:50Speaker 2: but just building the foundation of what this is going
- 17:53Speaker 2: to look like the whole tribe.
- 17:55Speaker 1: The new baby is entering into our tribe.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Rue is going We wanted Ru to walk into where
- 18:00Speaker 2: Ru was checking on mom first and loving on mom
- 18:02Speaker 2: and checking mom, and then we asked.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Hey, do you want to meet Scottie?
- 18:05Speaker 2: And then Rue's like all of us go over together
- 18:08Speaker 2: or around the area together. Yeah, meeting Scotti for the
- 18:12Speaker 2: first time. And we're telling Rue, you know, we're fired
- 18:15Speaker 2: up for Rue and how she's gonna be a great
- 18:16Speaker 2: big sister and you're gonna love Scotty so much. She's
- 18:19Speaker 2: gonna love you. She's already been telling us about you. Yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 2: she knows, like she can't talk or anything, she's been
- 18:23Speaker 2: telling us about you. And matter of fact, Scotty got
- 18:26Speaker 2: you a present for when we get home. We end
- 18:29Speaker 2: up going out and buying This was shout out to
- 18:31Speaker 2: Stephen Shay. He kind of gave you this idea before
- 18:33Speaker 2: we had. Scotty and I went out and got Rue
- 18:37Speaker 2: some like jewelry from frozen something at Walmart.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 18:40Speaker 2: And so when we brought everybody home, the gift was
- 18:44Speaker 2: sitting there. Oh, Scotty already got this in in and
- 18:46Speaker 2: Rue opens it up. So it seems like baby sister
- 18:49Speaker 2: is giving big sister a gift already, just to establish
- 18:52Speaker 2: like the foundation and love and everything that's going on
- 18:55Speaker 2: yeah with Rue, the dynamic of having your second one,
- 18:59Speaker 2: the dynamic of having two kids, and a lot of times,
- 19:02Speaker 2: like a lot of our language when we had the
- 19:04Speaker 2: newborn wouldn't be Rue, I'll play with you, or I'll
- 19:09Speaker 2: get your toy, or I'll get your milk, or i'll
- 19:11Speaker 2: do this thing for your first child. Hey, I will
- 19:13Speaker 2: do that for you when I get done with Scotty.
- 19:16Speaker 2: A lot of our language and verbiage would be Hey.
- 19:19Speaker 2: If I knew I needed to feed Scotty and Rue
- 19:22Speaker 2: just wanting me to play with her or get a
- 19:24Speaker 2: toy or debt it, can you get this, it would
- 19:26Speaker 2: be Hey, Scotty, when I'm done feeding you, I got
- 19:29Speaker 2: to help Rue out. Okay, when I'm done feeding you,
- 19:31Speaker 2: I gotta go play with Rue. And then I would
- 19:32Speaker 2: lean down and tell Rue I just let Scotty know
- 19:34Speaker 2: whenever I'm done with her that it's all you know.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I'm gonna play with you or I'm gonna get you
- 19:39Speaker 2: your bottle or whatever the thing is. But we would
- 19:42Speaker 2: change a lot of our language, so it's not like
- 19:44Speaker 2: we're diminishing Rue wanting our attention and we're like we
- 19:47Speaker 2: can't right now, I have to feed Scotty, and they
- 19:49Speaker 2: just in their brain they're seeing you. They're witnessing like damn,
- 19:53Speaker 2: like I was the kid, or I was I'm the
- 19:56Speaker 2: one that you guys always mess with, and now this
- 19:58Speaker 2: new kid comes in and you're with her all the time,
- 20:00Speaker 2: or you're telling me no because you know I'm getting
- 20:03Speaker 2: punched down, because you're holding Scotty, or because you have
- 20:05Speaker 2: to do things for Scotty. A lot of our language
- 20:07Speaker 2: would be talking to Scotty as they don't know what's
- 20:09Speaker 2: going on, and you're just telling them whenever I get
- 20:12Speaker 2: done doing this with you, I'm going to go attend Roue.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to go tend to.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Rue, talking loud enough so Rude can hear, and yes, exactly,
- 20:19Speaker 3: so Rue is witnessing the dynamic going on. So those
- 20:22Speaker 3: were like little things that we did when introducing Scotty,
- 20:26Speaker 3: our second one into our world as a family, when
- 20:30Speaker 3: we're thinking about the same things you are, which is
- 20:33Speaker 3: how do we balance the dynamic or how's the first
- 20:35Speaker 3: one going to feel? Those were a few tools that
- 20:37Speaker 3: we leaned on to kind of help us introduce Scotty
- 20:40Speaker 3: into our family, and they're phenomenal together, Like Scotty kind
- 20:43Speaker 3: of bullies Rue. But Scotty, well, we'll jump into it.
- 20:47Speaker 3: But dude, Scotty is so funny. Dude, with the way
- 20:52Speaker 3: she plays. We had a little play Dave. I'm sure
- 20:54Speaker 3: we'll talk about it later in the sude. But her
- 20:58Speaker 3: dangling stuff in front of you and then pulling it
- 21:00Speaker 3: away from you was She's electric. It was like watching
- 21:04Speaker 3: Will Compton play with Will Compton.
- 21:07Speaker 1: It was. It was honestly incredible. She's fun to be around.
- 21:11Speaker 2: But that would be Those are things I look back
- 21:12Speaker 2: on and I'm like, I'm really glad I learned those things,
- 21:14Speaker 2: and I'm really glad we incorporate them because it obviously
- 21:17Speaker 2: challenges us because again, you're kind of making a lot
- 21:19Speaker 2: of reactive decisions where they're they're pulling at you. There,
- 21:23Speaker 2: people are needing different attention. You can kind of get
- 21:25Speaker 2: in your old own head and then you just react.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I'll get that in a second. I got to finish
- 21:29Speaker 2: with your sister.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 2: For it's like I'm like, okay, I'm I'm coming across
- 21:33Speaker 2: these things. I'm like, oh, that that does make sense
- 21:35Speaker 2: to me. Like let's try these and then Troll and
- 21:37Speaker 2: I are talking about them collectively, we're both kind of
- 21:39Speaker 2: leaning on each other. Hey, I found this, you found this.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I love that idea. You're kind of feeling like a
- 21:44Speaker 2: team building out how you're going to you know, grow
- 21:47Speaker 2: this foundation for Ru and Scottie. Yeah, you're also on
- 21:50Speaker 2: the same page with your wife. You're doing learning things
- 21:52Speaker 2: with your wife.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And I'm just I'm sure that that exact same format
- 21:57Speaker 3: of with Rue for the introduction of Scotty will be
- 22:02Speaker 3: the same way of like during big events of Rue's
- 22:05Speaker 3: first time trying out for a sports team and Scotty's
- 22:08Speaker 3: old enough to like know what's going on, and bringing
- 22:10Speaker 3: Scotty along of like we got a cheer on big
- 22:13Speaker 3: sister and we got it.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's about big Sister.
- 22:16Speaker 3: It kind of like creates that whole dynamic of we
- 22:19Speaker 3: we we Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And then down the road when Scotty's going through her
- 22:23Speaker 2: first things and Rue's wanting to go to the playground
- 22:25Speaker 2: or I don't want to do this, and you're having
- 22:27Speaker 2: those moments of telling her, hey, Scotty came to it
- 22:31Speaker 2: comes all your stuff, like oh, this is all like,
- 22:33Speaker 2: this is how we go about this is Scotty's very
- 22:36Speaker 2: first time and how did you feel when it was
- 22:38Speaker 2: your first time and Mom and dad, we're all excited
- 22:40Speaker 2: for you. Felt good, right, you are now part of
- 22:43Speaker 2: this with helping Scotty like she's very excited. You've gotten
- 22:46Speaker 2: to do your first time or you gotten to do
- 22:48Speaker 2: your ballet class and we love doing it with you. Yes,
- 22:50Speaker 2: and that probably made you feel really good and really comfortable.
- 22:52Speaker 2: And now we want to We want Scotty to feel
- 22:55Speaker 2: all the same things, all the same excitement. How do
- 22:57Speaker 2: you think she would feel her big sits? Try to
- 22:59Speaker 2: smile on her face watching her helping her, not too much,
- 23:02Speaker 2: don't get out there on the day floor with her instructing.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but helping her and just being happy
- 23:07Speaker 1: for it make her feel really good.
- 23:09Speaker 3: And dude, I hate to jump ahead, but I think
- 23:13Speaker 3: you're gonna have no trouble at all having Scotty be
- 23:18Speaker 3: willing to help. Will you please tell the Sichos about
- 23:21Speaker 3: when we asked Scotty to help teach Scarlett how to
- 23:24Speaker 3: crawl and what comments, because that was one of the
- 23:27Speaker 3: best moments I've ever seen in my life.
- 23:30Speaker 2: So on Sunday we had a little playdate with Scotty
- 23:34Speaker 2: and Scarlett.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Very quick Scotty between naps. Eight months, Scarlet's eight months.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Scar Yes, Scarlet's eight months. Scotti's fifteen months or sixteen months.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Scotty's actually shout out, Scotty, she's sixteen months. She's sixteen
- 23:48Speaker 1: months March tenth, come on yesterday, she was sixteen months.
- 23:53Speaker 1: But we're upstairs.
- 23:55Speaker 2: We're in the playroom and they're both sitting across with
- 23:57Speaker 2: each other, you know, kind of playing with toys together,
- 24:00Speaker 2: Scotty grabbing stuff or like trying to pull the We're like, hey,
- 24:02Speaker 2: we share, can you give that to scar scar And
- 24:04Speaker 2: she'd hand it over and give it a scar Star,
- 24:05Speaker 2: and we're doing the whole thing where you're trying to
- 24:08Speaker 2: Scarlet is just fascinated with Scotty.
- 24:10Speaker 1: She's fascinated to be them sest with Scotti and.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Sharm was telling me that they were trying to work
- 24:16Speaker 2: on crawling with her and like doing tum me time
- 24:18Speaker 2: and doing all these things to where it's like getting
- 24:21Speaker 2: her up to her base, like using her arms and
- 24:22Speaker 2: using her hands and getting her up to her hands
- 24:24Speaker 2: and knees, and so we're like, Scotty, will you show
- 24:26Speaker 2: Scarlet how to how to crawl? And I kind of
- 24:28Speaker 2: put Scott kind of put Scotty on the ground. Scotty
- 24:31Speaker 2: like crawls a couple of steps and then like stops,
- 24:33Speaker 2: you know, and then does the whole stand.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Up literally literally the loudest grind of all time.
- 24:38Speaker 2: And so Sharm takes Scarlet and lays Scarlet on her stomach,
- 24:42Speaker 2: and we're trying to help her crawl, like come on,
- 24:44Speaker 2: you gotta you gotta get your hips up or try
- 24:46Speaker 2: to push your trying to push your legs to where
- 24:47Speaker 2: her knees get upright, and Scottie walks just walks over there.
- 24:52Speaker 1: She's fasting by Scarlet too.
- 24:55Speaker 2: She walks over there and she just starts grabbing Scarlet
- 24:58Speaker 2: by the back of the onesie to lift her up and.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Then heaving dude, like full on both hands and trying
- 25:04Speaker 3: to just.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, like around the like around the waist, like grabbing
- 25:07Speaker 2: the back of her one's and like lifting it up
- 25:09Speaker 2: to where the closes are stretching. And then we're laughing
- 25:12Speaker 2: like hey, Scotty, like give give Scarlet some space, like
- 25:15Speaker 2: she's gotta we gotta give her some space.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And then Scotty.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Would like walk back over and get to her hand
- 25:20Speaker 2: is around like her shoulder and around like the side
- 25:23Speaker 2: on her stomach and she's trying to like take and
- 25:25Speaker 2: lift her up.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Bro. We explicitly asked Scotty before this, We said, Scotty,
- 25:32Speaker 1: Scarlet's trying to learn how to crawl. Do you think
- 25:35Speaker 1: you can show her how to crawl?
- 25:36Speaker 3: So she totally received that message as a sixteen month
- 25:40Speaker 3: old from you. Crawls over to Scarlet and she said,
- 25:45Speaker 3: Scarlet's not crawling. So she's like, don't worry, I got this,
- 25:48Speaker 3: gets up and just is like she's not getting her
- 25:50Speaker 3: hips up. He was like, watching will try and teach
- 25:52Speaker 3: somebody how to attack.
- 25:53Speaker 1: The egg up. She's like, get it, get the hips
- 25:56Speaker 1: off the ground. What are we doing?
- 25:58Speaker 2: It was like watching Dane Gables had enough in his
- 26:00Speaker 2: wrestling room and he's going and helping position all.
- 26:03Speaker 1: The wrestlers on the mask.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, Scotty just again just waddles on over and she's
- 26:07Speaker 2: trying to take full control of the situation at grunting,
- 26:10Speaker 2: trying to like lift her up all around like the
- 26:12Speaker 2: hip airy and everything else. Like she's not getting too
- 26:14Speaker 2: much where she grabs her face or anything. That's what
- 26:16Speaker 2: I'm sitting there being nervous about Scottie.
- 26:18Speaker 3: He was saying very which I as a parent, I'm like, bro,
- 26:23Speaker 3: I got no problem. Like Scotty even kind of fell
- 26:26Speaker 3: on Scarlett at one point and Will was like, oh,
- 26:28Speaker 3: I'm like, dude.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Every parent goes the dynamic, whether you're with a great
- 26:33Speaker 2: friend or whether you're around like a stranger. There's just
- 26:35Speaker 2: there's something going on that's happening in my brain to
- 26:38Speaker 2: where we all know we do things differently, even though
- 26:41Speaker 2: we're all kind of aligned on same things we want
- 26:44Speaker 2: to happen with our kids. And when my kids like
- 26:46Speaker 2: standing over yours are grabbing or in my brain seeming
- 26:50Speaker 2: invasive or getting to where she could like fall over
- 26:52Speaker 2: her like fall in her head, I'm thinking of worst
- 26:55Speaker 2: case scenarios and thinking like I don't want to just
- 26:58Speaker 2: let this go and let this happen because I don't
- 27:00Speaker 2: know how you're.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Feeling in the moment. I don't know why anything's going on.
- 27:03Speaker 2: So you're just trying to think your instinct is control
- 27:05Speaker 2: your kid a little bit, because we're trying to have
- 27:07Speaker 2: like some manners. Oh, and you have no control over
- 27:10Speaker 2: what your little ones are thinking. You you're sitting there
- 27:12Speaker 2: and you're.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Both parents and you're stating there watching your little ones
- 27:14Speaker 1: player go at it, and both parents are kind of
- 27:16Speaker 1: standing there like we're or any boundaries.
- 27:18Speaker 2: This one seems a little bit more aggressive than mine.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Like that, parents probably thinking I wonder if this is okay.
- 27:23Speaker 2: You're sitting there thinking I don't mind this at all,
- 27:26Speaker 2: But I'm like.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Well, what does he mind? This?
- 27:30Speaker 3: Being is as at an eight month old Scarlett is
- 27:34Speaker 3: a perpetual dough in headlights, Like she all she can
- 27:37Speaker 3: do is sit up straight and smile.
- 27:39Speaker 5: That that's what there will was Vince Vaughn and wedding
- 27:42Speaker 5: Crashers talking about the dates. Is she happy? Am I
- 27:45Speaker 5: at the date? Am I talking too much? Is she
- 27:46Speaker 5: not talking enough? Like the dad version of that, that
- 27:49Speaker 5: is like the vibe. It's like you're sitting there. Do
- 27:52Speaker 5: they think this is okay?
- 27:53Speaker 2: I think this is okay, but I will I won't
- 27:55Speaker 2: let it be okay if I feel like you don't
- 27:56Speaker 2: think this is okay. But if you think it's okay
- 27:58Speaker 2: and I think it's okay, and we just think, if
- 28:00Speaker 2: the worst case scenario happens, and we're all okay with
- 28:02Speaker 2: that together, we can allow that to happen.
- 28:04Speaker 1: But if we don't want the worst case scenario that
- 28:05Speaker 1: I'm thinking.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Of my head to happen, then I can just I
- 28:08Speaker 2: can intervene and pull them off. But if you say
- 28:11Speaker 2: to me, hey, I'm totally cool with this, I'm thinking, oh,
- 28:13Speaker 2: I I'm cool with this too.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I just didn't know, you know what, let him wrestle. Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:17Speaker 3: And I was the girl on the date that that
- 28:19Speaker 3: looked at nervous guy and and just said, hey, it's
- 28:22Speaker 3: all good.
- 28:23Speaker 1: It's all good, no matter what. Keep saying like, hey,
- 28:26Speaker 1: it's all good. I was like, I know you're concerned,
- 28:29Speaker 1: and I appreciate that.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I just know Scotty goes about her business with the
- 28:34Speaker 2: reckless advantage, you know what I mean. Like it's we're
- 28:36Speaker 2: talking about we're talking about Scott's Yeah, we were.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I forgot about that.
- 28:43Speaker 2: It's dinner on Sunday night with the boys, and for
- 28:45Speaker 2: the first portion of dinner, like, I'm getting Scotty her snacks.
- 28:47Speaker 2: I don't tell your mother. I'm feeding all these snacks
- 28:50Speaker 2: and you weren't even known. Scotty's really sitting there with us,
- 28:53Speaker 2: We're chopping up, keeping up. Scotty's just like on her
- 28:55Speaker 2: best behavior, just having a great time. She's smiling, guys
- 28:58Speaker 2: are engaging with her every now and then. But then
- 29:00Speaker 2: the back half, when she's kind of getting a little
- 29:01Speaker 2: wrestless or she's done eating, she won't eat her chicken.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I'm like, sweet, are you gotta stop eating fries? And
- 29:06Speaker 2: you gotta eat your chicken? And we kind of let her.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I pick her up, I let her out of her
- 29:11Speaker 2: out of the high chair, to let her kind of
- 29:13Speaker 2: walk around Pinewood Pine Woods, an officer spot here in Nashville.
- 29:16Speaker 1: No free shoutouts, but got a lot of space to
- 29:18Speaker 1: walk in and there's like bowling and others.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and Scotty's just having a great time walking around,
- 29:23Speaker 2: kind of working the room, going around the wall. Hey,
- 29:27Speaker 2: not that far and now you can't like leave our site.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, kind of getting on you know. Other people
- 29:31Speaker 2: were fascinating thinking she's adorable, but she's kind of like
- 29:33Speaker 2: leaning on their booth. I'm like, Scotty, hey, come over here.
- 29:36Speaker 2: But she's just having a great time. Ryan's messing with her.
- 29:39Speaker 2: All the boys are messing with her.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, she was a lot of fun.
- 29:42Speaker 3: The best part too, of the uh saga of Scotty
- 29:46Speaker 3: training Scarlet to crawl was will then coming in and
- 29:50Speaker 3: pulling Scotty off of Scarlet fully and being like, hey,
- 29:55Speaker 3: too much, guy, too much, but appreciate you. And Scotty
- 29:58Speaker 3: didn't break down into fl tears, but she was letting
- 30:01Speaker 3: you know, dude, you explicitly asked me to teach her
- 30:05Speaker 3: how to crawl. She wasn't getting her button there, and
- 30:08Speaker 3: now you're pulling me off of her.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, what doesn't make sense to me that she
- 30:12Speaker 2: can't crawl? Like can't all of us crawl? And you
- 30:14Speaker 2: said we got to get her going. Hey, Scotty, teach
- 30:16Speaker 2: her how to crawl? And what am I doing teaching her?
- 30:19Speaker 2: And then now you're pulling me off of her. But
- 30:21Speaker 2: she literally was like ah ah, she.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Didn't like it.
- 30:24Speaker 2: She didn't like it. Great dad hack. For over the weekend,
- 30:26Speaker 2: I was solo with Scottie. Mom and Rue were in
- 30:30Speaker 2: d C for the weekend doing Bar three sight seeing
- 30:33Speaker 2: and doing a lot of things on Mom's in with
- 30:34Speaker 2: Bar three and so a great dad hack is having
- 30:39Speaker 2: the boys. I got a couple obviously, play dates, things
- 30:42Speaker 2: that burn time. I take Scotty to the coffee shop,
- 30:44Speaker 2: burn some time there, take it to the playground, burn
- 30:47Speaker 2: some time there. We did a playdate that else burnt
- 30:50Speaker 2: time before nap time, but also the boys. I conned
- 30:53Speaker 2: three of the boys from the shop to essentially help
- 30:55Speaker 2: me watch her eat. Yeah, because I wanted to get
- 30:57Speaker 2: her out of the house. Let's go get some dinner.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Was it just gonna be me and Scotty? I would,
- 31:00Speaker 2: I'll be totally fine if it's just me and Scotty.
- 31:03Speaker 2: But how can I also cross off a social aspect
- 31:05Speaker 2: of my life, like I haven't eaten at all or
- 31:08Speaker 2: anything yet, like one on one with Derek or gotten
- 31:10Speaker 2: to know him outside of the shop. Yes, I was
- 31:12Speaker 2: hopeful you were gonna be one of the guys to respond.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But I reach out to all the guys who are
- 31:17Speaker 2: from that work with busting.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I reach out to all the boys who were that
- 31:20Speaker 1: I knew were in town. Full chat.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, meal On, your boy who wants to come?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Really set up? It's gonna be an early dinner because
- 31:28Speaker 2: it's basically gonna be it's gonna be with me and Scotty,
- 31:30Speaker 2: But anybody interested if you guys hit up, made a
- 31:32Speaker 2: smaller group chat and basically told him I just conned
- 31:35Speaker 2: you guys and essentially helping me watch Scotti.
- 31:37Speaker 1: What we eat dinner. But great dad hack out. There
- 31:40Speaker 1: is a good day.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Hit off some friends stuff, hit off some work stuff,
- 31:42Speaker 2: hit off some Scottie stuff.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It scotti around people.
- 31:46Speaker 3: I went and got pot belly with BC four my
- 31:50Speaker 3: guy here with Scarlet. That was actually on Valentine's Day.
- 31:54Speaker 3: That was our Valentine's Day date, little daddy daughter date.
- 31:58Speaker 3: And but dude, so easy and fun to just rip
- 32:02Speaker 3: with a friend. Yeah, like any parent that's sitting there,
- 32:05Speaker 3: that's like, I'm never gonna see my friends again. Oh contrere.
- 32:10Speaker 3: It's it's very simple to go. Just grab a bite.
- 32:13Speaker 3: I did, grab a lollipop, grab a drink. Like I'm
- 32:17Speaker 3: a believer in that. I don't see anything weird in that.
- 32:19Speaker 1: He also, you didn't even need to.
- 32:21Speaker 5: It was funny because like you texted the smaller group
- 32:23Speaker 5: and said, haha, I've conned you into watching my daughter
- 32:27Speaker 5: eat with me, and all I think all three of
- 32:28Speaker 5: us were like we kind of knew that, we could
- 32:33Speaker 5: have assumed there was something else here, but like that's
- 32:35Speaker 5: we yes, we want to go.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Funny. He was like, I got all of you guys,
- 32:40Speaker 1: and we're like, all right.
- 32:43Speaker 2: We were totally cool with in the beginning we kind
- 32:45Speaker 2: of knew what we were signing up for.
- 32:46Speaker 4: You said free meal though, right, but you're getting a
- 32:49Speaker 4: check right. Oh my god, I was. He was texting
- 32:53Speaker 4: back and go I was with Alex. I was like, damn,
- 32:56Speaker 4: Will's having everyone else to eat and I'm gonna miss it.
- 32:59Speaker 1: And now it's like, oh, that's crat.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Oh he just said that he conned everybody into watching
- 33:03Speaker 4: scott And she goes, that sounds even better, Like what's
- 33:05Speaker 4: the That doesn't sound like a drawback at all.
- 33:08Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, it was a lot of fun, man,
- 33:10Speaker 2: Like it fired me up coming in the next day
- 33:11Speaker 2: and some of the boys were talking about how fun
- 33:13Speaker 2: Scotty was and everything else. Because again, like as a parent,
- 33:16Speaker 2: and you you just think in terms you don't want
- 33:18Speaker 2: to be.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I don't know, you don't want to annoy people with your.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Kid, And I know that's a fake assumption, that's a
- 33:25Speaker 2: fake fear that we all make up.
- 33:27Speaker 1: But you're sitting there.
- 33:27Speaker 2: It's like, you know, number one, it'd be fun to
- 33:29Speaker 2: go out and socialize, but you don't want to sit
- 33:31Speaker 2: there and annoy people with all the things you got
- 33:33Speaker 2: to do with being a parent. And now that I'm
- 33:36Speaker 2: singing out loud. I sound ridiculous. I sound ridiculous saying that.
- 33:42Speaker 1: It's not ridiculous thing unless you're like that type of
- 33:45Speaker 1: guy that's like, hey, I or gal of like I
- 33:49Speaker 1: really hate babies.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I really hate small children. Why in the world is
- 33:54Speaker 3: my friend asking me to hang out with them? I
- 33:57Speaker 3: don't see who would not be like down and cool
- 34:01Speaker 3: to hang that you. I wouldn't already know going into
- 34:04Speaker 3: asking the question. They don't really care to be around,
- 34:06Speaker 3: or they don't for whatever reason they want to draw
- 34:08Speaker 3: a line and hey, no kids, Yeah, no kids, which
- 34:12Speaker 3: there are those no kids situations obviously, like hey, we're
- 34:17Speaker 3: doing this big golf trip, we're doing this big hunting
- 34:19Speaker 3: for sure, and then you roll up with you know,
- 34:21Speaker 3: Scarlett on your chest.
- 34:22Speaker 1: They're like, what in the world you got a shout
- 34:25Speaker 1: out from demon?
- 34:26Speaker 5: Because we were sitting there and Scotty was kind of
- 34:28Speaker 5: operating and like ran over another family and this and that,
- 34:31Speaker 5: this and that, and I believe the words Dared said
- 34:33Speaker 5: were like hanging out with shrm so much, like I'm
- 34:36Speaker 5: so much better around babies now because we was all
- 34:39Speaker 5: talking about like our comfortability with like children and things
- 34:42Speaker 5: like that, and he was like, yeah, I don't really
- 34:44Speaker 5: get babies, but like scar scars helped me get.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Babies, Demons Demons twenty four And when he explained some
- 34:51Speaker 2: of that stuff like being around Scarlet and everything else,
- 34:53Speaker 2: I'm like, buddy, I'm with you, Like I completely understand
- 34:57Speaker 2: where you're coming from. Before I had my kids, like,
- 35:00Speaker 2: I wasn't a big baby guy. Not that I didn't
- 35:02Speaker 2: like babies, but anytime they wanted me to hold him,
- 35:04Speaker 2: I was always very nervous to whole kids. Yeah, I
- 35:06Speaker 2: don't know how.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I didn't have like, you know, any game with like
- 35:10Speaker 1: talking to the child. You know what I mean? Yes, story,
- 35:13Speaker 1: I do the little baby voice.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I never felt comfortable doing it around people or like
- 35:18Speaker 2: operating with kids. I was like, I was the same
- 35:21Speaker 2: way as you. Obviously I'm a parent now, so you're
- 35:24Speaker 2: you're way more comfortable, you have way more fun. It's
- 35:26Speaker 2: kind of like open your eyes, Like, man, it's weird
- 35:27Speaker 2: how much I was just kind of uncomfortable around babies.
- 35:30Speaker 2: But I wasn't a big baby person whatsoever until I
- 35:33Speaker 2: had real.
- 35:34Speaker 3: I feel like naturally people from birth to like probably
- 35:39Speaker 3: around like Ruth's age, because Ruth's like really out and
- 35:41Speaker 3: about at three almost four. Uh, like they just kind
- 35:46Speaker 3: of only do stuff with the family, or they're only
- 35:48Speaker 3: doing stuff at the house, so like you don't really
- 35:51Speaker 3: just run into a bunch of newborn babies.
- 35:54Speaker 1: All that are true.
- 35:55Speaker 2: And if I think back to me growing up, like
- 35:58Speaker 2: my dad was an only child. We lived in Francis
- 36:00Speaker 2: County where my dad's parents, my grandma and grandpa that
- 36:03Speaker 2: were talking about a couple of others, Yes, those are
- 36:05Speaker 2: my dad's parents. So we grew up around My dad
- 36:08Speaker 2: was an only child, so there was no uncles. Like
- 36:10Speaker 2: my mom, she lived away her her family's kind of
- 36:12Speaker 2: scattered across the country. But I didn't grow up around
- 36:16Speaker 2: you know, aunts and uncles or where there's new kids
- 36:18Speaker 2: coming into the fold. Like Whyatt is six years younger
- 36:20Speaker 2: than me, so by the time why it was born. No,
- 36:24Speaker 2: Cody's a year below me. So there's two of us
- 36:27Speaker 2: and we were a great part. And then Whyatt was
- 36:29Speaker 2: the youngest who's six years younger than me, So you
- 36:32Speaker 2: know that I just we were never around babies or
- 36:36Speaker 2: kids like some of my like one of my best friends, Logan,
- 36:39Speaker 2: they were they were like twelve of them. So he
- 36:41Speaker 2: was always very good with babies a couple of different marriages,
- 36:43Speaker 2: and ultimately there was a full twelve of them. Some
- 36:46Speaker 2: are step some are step siblings. So he was just
- 36:50Speaker 2: always comfortable because he's around the house and operating with
- 36:54Speaker 2: a newborn or whatever it is, or.
- 36:55Speaker 1: He was always comfortable.
- 36:56Speaker 2: But I just didn't grow up around where there's kids everywhere,
- 36:59Speaker 2: and I just knew what to do all the time.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what makes sense? Yes, and thank you
- 37:03Speaker 1: for sharing that.
- 37:04Speaker 3: That's actually really cool to hear from demon And and
- 37:07Speaker 3: Asket's sick.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Still thinks raising a dog is the same as he does.
- 37:12Speaker 2: He does there are those people again.
- 37:14Speaker 1: And there are those parallels. I'll give him that, Yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 1: there are.
- 37:18Speaker 2: My parents got a Conyan named after Conan and the
- 37:21Speaker 2: Barbarian and rottweiler who they trained and did all this stuff.
- 37:24Speaker 2: They spent a year with Conan before they were doing
- 37:27Speaker 2: that to trial, before they had me, before they had
- 37:30Speaker 2: their first kid right on. So some people do think
- 37:32Speaker 2: in a way like responsibility of a dog, because there
- 37:34Speaker 2: are a lot of responsibility there are a dog. Then
- 37:36Speaker 2: when you become a parent you almost laugh at the
- 37:38Speaker 2: dog people. But I completely get It's like you sit
- 37:41Speaker 2: there and trial run a dog. We had Waffle before
- 37:43Speaker 2: we had Rue. Yeah, Waffles. You know, she's pretty low maintenance.
- 37:46Speaker 2: She's a bulldog.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Yeah. But there are those parallels, like to.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Those dog people that that equate it to having a baby.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I will say this, if you are raising actual puppies,
- 37:59Speaker 3: like you you get that dog when it is a
- 38:01Speaker 3: puppy and you're having a house breaking stuff, I do
- 38:04Speaker 3: think it's a good training tool of like throw yourself
- 38:07Speaker 3: into some suck.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Absolutely, Like if you're ready for the sixer, do you
- 38:11Speaker 1: have a dog chef girl, a pseudo. I'm like a
- 38:15Speaker 1: stepdad to okay step step dog dad. Yeah yeah, yeah
- 38:20Speaker 1: dog stepdad. Yeah.
- 38:22Speaker 2: But if you're a Seeman Team sixer and you don't
- 38:24Speaker 2: have a whole lot of responsibilities going on to where
- 38:26Speaker 2: you might have a job, or you might be going
- 38:27Speaker 2: to school or whatever, it is, absolutely you want to
- 38:30Speaker 2: get into what the world of responsibility and not saying
- 38:33Speaker 2: you don't have responsibility of course, but if you're caring
- 38:37Speaker 2: for a little puppy like that is gonna break you.
- 38:39Speaker 2: It's gonna make you think about how you structure your weekends,
- 38:42Speaker 2: how you kind of structure your day to day because
- 38:44Speaker 2: you do have to map out what a routine looks
- 38:47Speaker 2: like to where it does pull from you and other
- 38:48Speaker 2: angles where you're like, fuck, I.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Have this dog.
- 38:50Speaker 2: I have to think about my dog. My boys are
- 38:52Speaker 2: going out of town. Who am I going to get
- 38:53Speaker 2: to watch the dog? I gotta start thinking about all
- 38:55Speaker 2: these things.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Yes, I gotta wake up at three o'clock in the
- 38:57Speaker 3: morning to clean up this p and poop puddle or
- 39:00Speaker 3: they pooped. They pooped in the fucking bed and I'm
- 39:02Speaker 3: having to claim that. Throw some newspaper on it.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Throw some spray and spray. Yeah, we kind of just
- 39:11Speaker 2: got off on a tangent there. We got to keep
- 39:12Speaker 2: it under an out, do we do? Did you have something?
- 39:15Speaker 4: I just wondered while we were doing the callbacks from
- 39:18Speaker 4: last episode, Smith and Lenz pizza's money all remember Derek
- 39:21Speaker 4: and Will got into it, right we we got it Friday.
- 39:25Speaker 4: I'll I'll pass it to you guys. But that might
- 39:28Speaker 4: be the best slice in Nashville. It's gonna be hard
- 39:30Speaker 4: to argue that one. Yep, awesome pizza.
- 39:35Speaker 2: And by the way, we got in a little taff
- 39:38Speaker 2: we got in a little dust up last week. The
- 39:40Speaker 2: under the under arching theme there is we are allies.
- 39:44Speaker 2: We are allies. I need a deep to be mobilized more.
- 39:49Speaker 2: In previous engagements that we've we've had over the food topic. However,
- 39:53Speaker 2: Derek crushed it with Smith and Lyn's Great Pizza in Nashville.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Loved every slice add about of him. He brought it
- 40:01Speaker 2: to the shop. How many box of pizza? About eight
- 40:03Speaker 2: box of pizza.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Up in six and then a ranch for each one
- 40:06Speaker 5: when it was all said and done, yet six all
- 40:08Speaker 5: taken the problem.
- 40:09Speaker 1: And to put out there people who are ranch people
- 40:10Speaker 1: with pizza one ranch per box. We were light on ranch.
- 40:14Speaker 1: We right on ranch.
- 40:15Speaker 3: But with this type of pizza and we can get
- 40:18Speaker 3: into it. We can get into it. You don't need
- 40:19Speaker 3: a whole lot ranch. But this is my one note one.
- 40:25Speaker 3: When I took my first bite, I completely understood where
- 40:29Speaker 3: my boy Dick was coming from. In three seconds, Yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 3: said I would die on that hill any day with
- 40:36Speaker 3: you now. Like I went up to him, I said,
- 40:40Speaker 3: truly like top five all time. We had an artist
- 40:43Speaker 3: in place back in Fort Worth that was like some
- 40:46Speaker 3: big name pizza chef guy from like one of the
- 40:48Speaker 3: big cities LA New York, and it was very reminiscent
- 40:52Speaker 3: of that, if not better.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I told him tough five, all time, great pizza, to
- 40:56Speaker 1: the point Derek will tell you too.
- 40:57Speaker 2: When I got in the smaller group chat about dinner,
- 41:00Speaker 2: I had options in my head, but I'm like, based
- 41:02Speaker 2: on the resume that Derek is painting youtwo with him
- 41:06Speaker 2: and beer and food and everything else, I'm like, what
- 41:08Speaker 2: are some spots wind up just obviously landing on Pinewood.
- 41:12Speaker 2: But I have nothing but respect for Derek's for Derek's paller. Derek,
- 41:17Speaker 2: blindfold me, spin me around, and then just.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Pay something in my mouth. Put something in my mouth.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I don't care that you free Saturday, Yeah, sta can
- 41:27Speaker 1: blowjob day.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yeah, March fourteenth, blindfold me, spin me around, and put
- 41:32Speaker 2: something in my.
- 41:32Speaker 1: De only Hey, Derek, what are you doing on the fourteenth?
- 41:36Speaker 1: You only gonta worry about the first part, don't worry
- 41:38Speaker 1: about the second part.
- 41:39Speaker 5: When he shot me the text being like, hey, you know,
- 41:41Speaker 5: I got some food ideas I'd love and you did
- 41:43Speaker 5: say I'd love to hear what Derek. It was a
- 41:44Speaker 5: good stamp of approval. Feeling like I feel like I
- 41:47Speaker 5: got a good stamp, Like if I send you to
- 41:48Speaker 5: somewhere or I show you a song or a movie,
- 41:50Speaker 5: like I feel good about it. But the other side
- 41:52Speaker 5: of it is I brought this up at dinner, like
- 41:54Speaker 5: adding a kid to the mix. It threw off my
- 41:57Speaker 5: whole skip because if you were like me and char
- 41:58Speaker 5: are going to dinner or rinks or something, you know
- 42:01Speaker 5: what I mean, then like, hey, no, I'm like, dang,
- 42:03Speaker 5: we are bringing Scotty, Like what would be? Which is
- 42:05Speaker 5: why we picked Pinewood because there's a lot of room
- 42:08Speaker 5: to move and like it's a pretty watched environment, so
- 42:11Speaker 5: you haven't.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Been to the other spots.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I admitted, Now, whatever you think is going to be
- 42:15Speaker 2: the best environment for Scotty. Yeah, because I threw a
- 42:18Speaker 2: couple of Mexican like Fonda Fonda on Eighth Avenue or
- 42:23Speaker 2: on twelfth on one of them. I think it's found
- 42:25Speaker 2: on twelfth very like a little more money, but great
- 42:29Speaker 2: Mexican food. Awesome Mexican food. Masorrow is another Mexican texts
- 42:35Speaker 2: Massero text mex on twelfth.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Have you been there? I've been to the one in
- 42:38Speaker 1: Fort Worth, Okay, but that's a that's a good one.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I was, you know, I'm like, I wonder if they've
- 42:43Speaker 2: been to this spot or somebody's gonna be like, hey,
- 42:45Speaker 2: let's go here. We ended up laying it on piewood.
- 42:47Speaker 2: But yes, nothing but respect for Derek's food.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Just a little future note for any pet sikos out
- 42:54Speaker 3: there that are gonna invite me to a meal. But
- 42:57Speaker 3: I'm more specifically talking to this group. I went to
- 43:01Speaker 3: the corner bar with Jared and his girlfriend and it
- 43:08Speaker 3: was listed as a restaurant. We walked into it. It
- 43:11Speaker 3: was very much a bar. And now I might be
- 43:14Speaker 3: speaking out turned for other pet siccos I felt very
- 43:18Speaker 3: comfortable walking in with Scarlet and we had her a
- 43:21Speaker 3: little high chair thing, and I did get some looks
- 43:25Speaker 3: from the people sitting at the bar top going, oh,
- 43:27Speaker 3: that dude's walking in here with the baby.
- 43:29Speaker 1: What was that gonna look like?
- 43:31Speaker 3: Scarlett was on her best behavior and you know, didn't
- 43:34Speaker 3: cry at all, but I just plopped her right there
- 43:37Speaker 3: and we just we sat and Nate wings and they
- 43:41Speaker 3: had some drinks. I was driving, so I didn't partake,
- 43:44Speaker 3: but like, I felt very comfortable in that situation.
- 43:47Speaker 1: It felt normal to me. Yeah, I don't know if
- 43:49Speaker 1: other people like, you know whatever, so.
- 43:52Speaker 5: Did that thing because you were bringing up about like
- 43:54Speaker 5: dog people and babies comparing. I have the same thing
- 43:57Speaker 5: that you described when I take as my dog's a
- 43:59Speaker 5: pitbull to dog park where he fights at other dogs,
- 44:02Speaker 5: and I'm thinking, I'm cool with it? Are they cool
- 44:04Speaker 5: with it? The dogs are playing, and there was a quote,
- 44:06Speaker 5: I'm gonna do another quote. You aren't who you think
- 44:08Speaker 5: you are. You aren't who they think you are. You
- 44:10Speaker 5: are you think they think you are, which is a
- 44:12Speaker 5: tongue twister to say, shirm you walk, You aren't who
- 44:16Speaker 5: you think you are. You aren't who they think you are.
- 44:20Speaker 5: You are who you think they think you are. So
- 44:23Speaker 5: when she walks into the bar with a baby, he's
- 44:25Speaker 5: not just shirm and he everyone at the bar probably
- 44:28Speaker 5: didn't care, but he goes. Those guys are probably thinking
- 44:32Speaker 5: this guy is bringing a baby in when we're all
- 44:35Speaker 5: nobody cares. That guy's probably thinking about ordering this third
- 44:37Speaker 5: beer or something. So yeah, I get that a lot.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, yeah, that is true. That that is a
- 44:46Speaker 1: really really good point.
- 44:49Speaker 3: I am often and you know that about me too.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I'm an overthinker. I think I think a.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Lot of us people in general kind of overthink everything.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I see what you mean, You're like people pleaser, You
- 45:00Speaker 2: think a lot about yeah, yeah, everything going on.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I don't have a problem. I'm just here for the food.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, all right, and I love my kids. Sue me.
- 45:11Speaker 3: I have a nice little kind of a follow up
- 45:14Speaker 3: comment from last week.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I have a bigger one.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Yea, yeah, this is a saddler one. This is from
- 45:21Speaker 2: following up last week. I have gotten several messages about
- 45:24Speaker 2: the message I had with reading the book and my
- 45:26Speaker 2: mom and everything else. This is from Landing freet Does
- 45:30Speaker 2: on Facebook. I just want to give a big shout
- 45:32Speaker 2: out to Will for being so vulnerable about how much
- 45:35Speaker 2: he misses and still thinks of his mom since she passed.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I was watching the video of him talking to talking
- 45:40Speaker 2: to Rue about her, and it got me really emotional.
- 45:42Speaker 2: I lost my dad a while back, two days after
- 45:45Speaker 2: he watched me play football for the first time in college.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Just like Will missus his mom. I missed my dad
- 45:50Speaker 1: every day.
- 45:51Speaker 2: It's been thirteen years, and I still think about him
- 45:54Speaker 2: randomly when I'm sitting in traffic or when I wanted
- 45:56Speaker 2: to talk to him about cool fishing video I just watched.
- 46:00Speaker 2: We'll probably know is this shit doesn't get any easier.
- 46:02Speaker 2: We just kind of learned how to cope with it
- 46:04Speaker 2: in a little bit and get a little bit better
- 46:06Speaker 2: with it over time. I'm a father of a beautiful
- 46:08Speaker 2: four year old girl now, and I can't help but
- 46:10Speaker 2: think of what a great grandfather he would be. Oh,
- 46:13Speaker 2: how much you would love spending time with his granddaughter,
- 46:15Speaker 2: how much he would make her laugh. It hurts so
- 46:18Speaker 2: much knowing that they will never get to have a
- 46:19Speaker 2: relationship together, and I'm sure Will feels the same absolutely,
- 46:23Speaker 2: my friend. I guess the beautiful thing is that, in
- 46:25Speaker 2: a way, my dad is still in me. It's still
- 46:29Speaker 2: in me with the lessons he passed down to me
- 46:31Speaker 2: and the love he gave me while I was still here.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Maybe that's how my daughter gets to see him through me.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Thank you for reminding me that it's still okay to
- 46:37Speaker 2: miss him, and it's still okay to feel so emotional
- 46:39Speaker 2: about it, no matter how long. It's been very good message, Land,
- 46:43Speaker 2: and I do appreciate that, and I empathize to you
- 46:45Speaker 2: with on all of those levels.
- 46:49Speaker 1: It is.
- 46:49Speaker 2: It's dude, it and when I want to keep myself
- 46:51Speaker 2: in an optimistic perspective, ripple effect on making myself feel
- 46:57Speaker 2: like you're at peace with it, or you have a
- 46:59Speaker 2: happy is from it is like I do think about
- 47:02Speaker 2: because my mom is at the forefront of my mind
- 47:04Speaker 2: a lot with a lot of things, whether it's with
- 47:06Speaker 2: parenting or missing or wishing I could talk to or
- 47:09Speaker 2: send her a message, all of that stuff. I do
- 47:14Speaker 2: feel like I parent better because of everything that happened,
- 47:19Speaker 2: because I feel so emotionally attached to it and I
- 47:22Speaker 2: think about it a lot, and it's helped me reflect
- 47:25Speaker 2: on the mom that she was to me when I
- 47:27Speaker 2: do feel like I communicated those things to her a lot,
- 47:29Speaker 2: like she knew how much like we were, we were tight,
- 47:32Speaker 2: and things you still think about.
- 47:34Speaker 1: You're like, ah, man, did she fully know that?
- 47:36Speaker 2: I wish I could just tell her and articulate it
- 47:38Speaker 2: so well one last time how much she knew. And
- 47:41Speaker 2: I'm like, ultimately, I do know that, and I know
- 47:44Speaker 2: it pours through me with parenting because I know how
- 47:46Speaker 2: precious now that it's Now that it's gone. I'm not
- 47:50Speaker 2: saying I didn't I took it for granted, or I
- 47:52Speaker 2: didn't appreciate it.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Obviously. You battle with.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Those demons all the time because you want such closure
- 47:59Speaker 2: on a moment like that you felt got taken from
- 48:02Speaker 2: you versus you knew what was gonna happen, or this
- 48:05Speaker 2: was the plan the entire time, and you kind of
- 48:09Speaker 2: package it like like I am the dad I am
- 48:13Speaker 2: because my mom was such an example and I'm able
- 48:16Speaker 2: to reflect on how much she meant to me because
- 48:20Speaker 2: it's gone, it doesn't happen anymore, So I get to
- 48:22Speaker 2: think about what she absolutely did for me over time,
- 48:26Speaker 2: through all of my years of life, through all my communications.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Now that I'm parenting and trying to be intentional and
- 48:31Speaker 2: trying to think of ways to connect with Rue and
- 48:35Speaker 2: Scottie and be a dad, I'm like, I know she
- 48:37Speaker 2: went through all of these same things, and this is
- 48:40Speaker 2: what this meant, and now that I see it from
- 48:41Speaker 2: this perspective, these are all the things that she did
- 48:44Speaker 2: on why the decision led to this.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Once upon a time in my childhood.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Like I think about all those things to where I
- 48:50Speaker 2: know it gives me that north star, that guiding light
- 48:53Speaker 2: in my own parenting that I might not be if
- 48:57Speaker 2: she was still here. And I say that I can
- 48:59Speaker 2: probably be saying because I'm just trying to always wrap
- 49:02Speaker 2: my brain around it a nice silver lining, yeah, silver
- 49:05Speaker 2: lining with all because I do I get angry, and.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I talked about it a podcasts in the past.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I do get angry knowing that she can't be
- 49:13Speaker 2: the grandma that I knew she was going to be,
- 49:16Speaker 2: Like she would have been the best crush crush because
- 49:19Speaker 2: it makes me laugh at my dad, or you know,
- 49:21Speaker 2: get frustrated with my dad because he can't just come
- 49:24Speaker 2: in for the weekend. If Tarl and I are going
- 49:25Speaker 2: to go out of town and doing and our own thing,
- 49:27Speaker 2: and I can't just leave the kids with my dad.
- 49:29Speaker 1: You know what I mean. And I just know it's
- 49:31Speaker 1: like my mom would be up.
- 49:32Speaker 2: But at any moment I wanted to to worry, You're
- 49:34Speaker 2: almost we would have had to create boundaries for my
- 49:37Speaker 2: mom because she would have loved me and Grandma so much,
- 49:39Speaker 2: or putting her input on things that she's not not
- 49:43Speaker 2: a part of her has to know like hey, we're
- 49:44Speaker 2: our own tribe. Like she was a very A type personality,
- 49:47Speaker 2: badass mom. And I do get angry knowing that RUE
- 49:51Speaker 2: will never know her through her own relationship with her.
- 49:55Speaker 2: She's going to know her through me, through my actions
- 49:58Speaker 2: and when I'm having my moments and I'm trying to
- 50:00Speaker 2: until I'm blue in the face, hoping that I can
- 50:02Speaker 2: imprint on what Grandma would have meant, even though you
- 50:04Speaker 2: never met her, you never talked to her, you never
- 50:07Speaker 2: talked to her. But yeah, man, I empathize with all
- 50:11Speaker 2: of that message. I appreciate you writing in man and
- 50:13Speaker 2: knowing thirteen years somebody who's lost somebody super close, not
- 50:16Speaker 2: too long ago. It's been four years for me because
- 50:21Speaker 2: I lost my mom when charl was pregnant with Rue,
- 50:24Speaker 2: and knowing that it can be as long as thirteen
- 50:26Speaker 2: years and then it just never goes away.
- 50:28Speaker 3: And will this might not be the time or place
- 50:31Speaker 3: so like cut me off. But what was the cause
- 50:35Speaker 3: or timeline? I don't know if I've ever asked you that.
- 50:38Speaker 2: So the cause was she had a blood clot, she
- 50:41Speaker 2: got knee replaced, she got a new replacement, her second
- 50:44Speaker 2: one for her other knee, and she was so excited
- 50:46Speaker 2: to get it done because her other knee felt so
- 50:47Speaker 2: much better, and.
- 50:51Speaker 1: She got a knee replacement, and weeks after.
- 50:54Speaker 2: I don't know this to be fact, but in my head,
- 50:57Speaker 2: she I remember when we were talking on the phone
- 50:59Speaker 2: because that was year I went to the Raiders for
- 51:01Speaker 2: my last year of playing, where I went to Las Vegas.
- 51:03Speaker 1: It was planning on Raiders. I got signed.
- 51:05Speaker 2: I actually went to my last moments with her was
- 51:08Speaker 2: I went back home and visited. We went to a
- 51:10Speaker 2: high school football game to watch ye coach, and we
- 51:12Speaker 2: spent the weekend there and it was a lot of fun.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I went to the Raider Junior Football League and watched
- 51:17Speaker 2: the kids on Saturday. We had a great time. And
- 51:20Speaker 2: that was in That was around. That was in October November.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Shortly after that is when I got the call to
- 51:27Speaker 2: go to Vegas to finish out. I was on the
- 51:29Speaker 2: team for five weeks to finish out the year with
- 51:31Speaker 2: the Raiders, Yes, where Rich Pasaci was the head coach.
- 51:35Speaker 2: And I remember being on the phone with her, like
- 51:36Speaker 2: checking in about you know, her rehab, like the knee,
- 51:39Speaker 2: like all the post surgery stuff, and she was excited
- 51:43Speaker 2: and bragging to me she's not taking it. She's got
- 51:45Speaker 2: off her title and all because she's very much like
- 51:48Speaker 2: a high pain tolerance woman, like a person who's they
- 51:51Speaker 2: want to be a badass. They want to do things
- 51:52Speaker 2: faster than hey, it's going to be a four month rehab.
- 51:55Speaker 2: She wants to get it done in two. Like she
- 51:57Speaker 2: was very she was like that like, I'm like that.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I was about to say apple didn't fall far.
- 52:02Speaker 2: And when it happened, it was I COVID was taking
- 52:08Speaker 2: place and we were about to play the Cleveland Browns
- 52:12Speaker 2: and our game got postponed to a different date.
- 52:17Speaker 1: We were flying out. I was in Cleveland.
- 52:20Speaker 2: I was in my hotel room because we were about
- 52:21Speaker 2: to play the Browns the next day. And I get
- 52:24Speaker 2: a call from Wyatt. I get a call this thing
- 52:35Speaker 2: happens here. Because obviously I go back to the spot
- 52:37Speaker 2: and we don't have to go fully into it. I
- 52:39Speaker 2: want to I'd like you answered my question thoroughly. Okay,
- 52:43Speaker 2: just say you know. I got a call from Wyatt
- 52:45Speaker 2: and she he was yeah, let's move.
- 52:56Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and all essentially they I was just I
- 53:01Speaker 3: didn't know, And you answered that question fabulous.
- 53:03Speaker 2: If I get beyond that moment, yeah, all of that
- 53:05Speaker 2: that took place, Besatch comes.
- 53:07Speaker 1: He's sitting in my hotel room with me go home.
- 53:10Speaker 2: They allowed me to be home for like two weeks
- 53:12Speaker 2: because obviously it's like it's my last year playing. We know,
- 53:14Speaker 2: we know him there for being a culture guy, covering
- 53:16Speaker 2: some kicks, covering some punts, like I'm tight with everybody
- 53:19Speaker 2: in the Raiders organization.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the Raiders organization, the fan base. My teammates were pivotal,
- 53:26Speaker 1: pivotal for me in that in that moment.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, guys speaking about me and to me remembers
- 53:33Speaker 2: A Jones, a receiver.
- 53:34Speaker 1: He's mentioned me in the postgame presser.
- 53:36Speaker 2: We they ended up beating Cleveland and guys had all
- 53:39Speaker 2: the greatest messages are like, dude, it was.
- 53:42Speaker 1: My heart will forever.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Raiders will always have a beast of that because they
- 53:46Speaker 2: helped me through one of the hardest times, the hardest time.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and I get to go home for a couple
- 53:52Speaker 2: of weeks and as you know, it's very emotional, very tough.
- 53:54Speaker 2: It's it sucked, man. It was the most brutal time
- 53:58Speaker 2: ever for a lot of us, our family, everybody.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Yea.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Because she was a centerpiece of a lot of things.
- 54:04Speaker 2: She was a school principal for a Catholic school, Saint
- 54:08Speaker 2: Rose of Lehman de Soto, Missouri, and so she touched
- 54:11Speaker 2: a lot of people. And as I'm doing my own
- 54:14Speaker 2: research on the back end of finding closure, god, what
- 54:18Speaker 2: fucking happened?
- 54:19Speaker 1: Because it was sudden.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Yeah, she made she made a yelp sound that my
- 54:22Speaker 2: dad heard in the other room and she was just gone.
- 54:25Speaker 2: There was no there was no life ambulance came. They're
- 54:28Speaker 2: hoping it's okay. You're hoping it's okay as they go
- 54:30Speaker 2: to the hospital, but it was it was gone, you
- 54:34Speaker 2: know what I mean, There's no there was no like,
- 54:37Speaker 2: can we be doing something right now?
- 54:38Speaker 1: Could something of happened before that? And in my brain
- 54:40Speaker 1: when I wrap it around.
- 54:41Speaker 2: It's like maybe I've been her getting off the baby
- 54:43Speaker 2: tilan Ar the Thailand R, like was she's still taking
- 54:45Speaker 2: her her meds or things that like got the circulation
- 54:48Speaker 2: going to where this blood clot didn't form. You battle
- 54:51Speaker 2: through all of that shit, bro, And that is essentially
- 54:55Speaker 2: what happened. And that was that was in twenty It
- 54:59Speaker 2: was a twenty only one. Yeah, R was born on
- 55:02Speaker 2: April third and twenty two, So that happened in December.
- 55:06Speaker 2: December eighteenth, twenty one, right before Christmas. My last message
- 55:11Speaker 2: from her and I still haven't it's what's your address
- 55:15Speaker 2: so I can send you Christmas gifts?
- 55:17Speaker 1: You know that's a good Hey, that's a good grandma. Dude, dude,
- 55:23Speaker 1: she was fucking the best.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no, yeah, God, I get uncomfortable doing.
- 55:30Speaker 1: No, You're fine. I hate the crying all the time. Yeah,
- 55:33Speaker 1: I know everybody's okay with it.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's just man not to cut you off
- 55:40Speaker 3: or segue. But one thing that I meant to tell
- 55:43Speaker 3: you this off the pod was when I made that
- 55:46Speaker 3: video either a week ago or two weeks.
- 55:48Speaker 1: Ago, where you were talking about your mom.
- 55:51Speaker 3: I just went through your Instagram and I was like
- 55:54Speaker 3: ripping images off of your Instagram for like some great
- 55:58Speaker 3: pictures of you and.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Ma where you're reading captions.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Dude, Will It was so great because he just gave
- 56:05Speaker 3: me an insight into the relationship with your mom, just
- 56:09Speaker 3: a tad bit because I've never heard her voice.
- 56:12Speaker 1: I've never mattered nothing.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and you had a capture on there that they
- 56:15Speaker 3: were having a family dinner the Comptons were and you
- 56:19Speaker 3: made an extremely off color joke.
- 56:22Speaker 1: About putting her in a home. Yes, and you're I
- 56:25Speaker 1: love that. His as reaction that he put in the
- 56:30Speaker 1: caption was, William, Yeah, because I have done that around
- 56:35Speaker 1: the office and others have too whatever, Will like go
- 56:38Speaker 1: too far with the joke?
- 56:39Speaker 4: Do that?
- 56:39Speaker 1: Oh Will Dude? That just made me laugh.
- 56:43Speaker 3: So I just I thought that was hilarious that she
- 56:48Speaker 3: and you play it in the caption that she was
- 56:50Speaker 3: smiling when she said William too that she she loved
- 56:54Speaker 3: your humor so right.
- 56:55Speaker 1: Like, if I'm putting that caption out there, it'd be like, oh,
- 56:57Speaker 1: why are you treating your mom like that? It's like, dude,
- 56:59Speaker 1: we have I bust their balls all the time.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Like the running joke that will still try and laugh
- 57:06Speaker 2: about with my old man is I would literally tell
- 57:09Speaker 2: them like if my dad is having like a brain
- 57:11Speaker 2: moment something where you're laughing at your old man, yeah,
- 57:15Speaker 2: I just beg dad man, I'll be honest with you.
- 57:17Speaker 2: I hope I hope you go first if anything happens.
- 57:21Speaker 2: And this is back before obviously everything took place, But
- 57:24Speaker 2: you're just making those jokes because it's like what.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Are you going to be?
- 57:27Speaker 2: How are you going to do anything without Mom around?
- 57:31Speaker 2: But I'll be okay if you go. I don't want
- 57:33Speaker 2: you to go. I'll be okay if you go first,
- 57:34Speaker 2: because at least mom, Yeah, we know how to operate.
- 57:37Speaker 2: My dad has done an incredible job picking himself up,
- 57:41Speaker 2: and you know that's a process as well for any
- 57:45Speaker 2: anybody who's gone through something like that.
- 57:47Speaker 1: Are similar. They understand this dynamic and my dad's.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Relationship with I think it is so funny, is like
- 57:54Speaker 3: I never joked with my dad, uh or well I did,
- 57:58Speaker 3: but like I didn't do that type of joking with
- 58:02Speaker 3: my dad. And when I was on the phone with
- 58:04Speaker 3: him the other day, I just love how like you
- 58:07Speaker 3: keep that same Will like sense of humor across the board,
- 58:12Speaker 3: even with you like not really having any personal relationship
- 58:16Speaker 3: with my dad. I'm on a phone call with him
- 58:19Speaker 3: and the shirt contest is going on, and I called
- 58:22Speaker 3: my dad and he had graciously offered to buy some
- 58:26Speaker 3: of the shirts and was wondering which shirt he needed
- 58:29Speaker 3: to buy for the PT six shirt to win.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, which you won, which he's one.
- 58:35Speaker 3: And it's not like my dad bought a crazy amount,
- 58:37Speaker 3: as the story will tell. But my dad when Will
- 58:40Speaker 3: gets on the phone, he walks up mid combo and
- 58:44Speaker 3: he sticks his head in the car and he's like.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Mister young, you know, blah blah blah.
- 58:48Speaker 3: He's just like being Will. And my dad is very
- 58:51Speaker 3: proud to tell Will that he's buying four shirts, four
- 58:54Speaker 3: PT six shirts. He's like so excited to tell Will
- 58:57Speaker 3: that it Will goes four get thirty five those a
- 59:00Speaker 3: rookie numbers. We got to bub those numbers. And my dude, wait.
- 59:08Speaker 1: On my dad and he's like, oh, well, then I'm like, Dad,
- 59:12Speaker 1: he is kidding.
- 59:14Speaker 5: Bought all the tumblers down. His dad bought every single
- 59:18Speaker 5: for the Dad's coffee tumbler. And we were talking to
- 59:20Speaker 5: the Merchen team and they're like, yeah, we ran out
- 59:22Speaker 5: of that by like thirty Did.
- 59:23Speaker 1: You hear that story? No, he bought it as a
- 59:26Speaker 1: Christmas gift for his office. That is amazing And your
- 59:30Speaker 1: dad is awesome.
- 59:31Speaker 2: And and even when I'm saying it, I almost now
- 59:33Speaker 2: understand the dynamic that's happening because number one, your dad's
- 59:36Speaker 2: so proud of everything that you're doing. And yeah, he
- 59:40Speaker 2: also wants me to know how much it means to him,
- 59:42Speaker 2: how much like it's it's like a he's he almost
- 59:45Speaker 2: he wants to be we are on the personal level.
- 59:47Speaker 2: But it's like a moment for him and I am just.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Like and you're doing loss at the end of the day,
- 59:53Speaker 3: and Boss in his mind is like this, and you know,
- 59:57Speaker 3: he's like, man, like, what you're doing for my kid?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: And then you also are Will Compton's you.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: Have like these jokes that you'll throw in that will
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: just catch my dad's so off guard.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hilarious. It is fun, dude, it is fun.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: It's very funny. That made me laugh really hard. Nothing
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: ever come across the first pitch video with my mom. Yes,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: you showed it to me the other day. Yeah, we're
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: at the Cardinal game.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: It was my It was the second time I got
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: to do a first pitch for the Cardinals, and so
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: I was. My mom grew up. She loves baseball. She
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: loves the k City Chief, she loves saying Louis Cardinals baseball.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: She loved it, like wed go and uh, we just
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: randomly on a weekend, she'd be like, let's get in
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: the car, we're gonna go up and scalp tickets. And
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: she just worked the streets like she was very much
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: like that, where you're going up. We don't have any tickets,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: We're gonna scalp tickets. I got to watch Dontrelle Willis
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: with the Florida Marlins. I love, you know, fantasy baseball,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: playing triple play on computer, backyard baseball. I loved baseball
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: growing up, and the Florida Marlins were in town playing
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: the Cardinals in Dontrell will was throwing, and I love
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Dontroll Willis because he had this arm action, this sideal
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: action where he just kind of had to swag. He
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: had the juice, and so we got to watch him.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: We got to watch him play that day. But I
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: knew my mom loved the Cardinals so much, so the
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: second time I got to do a first pitch, I'm like, hey, Mom,
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: I want you to do the first pitch, like we'll
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: walk out to together, but I want you to throw
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: the ball because I know she's in heaven getting to
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: go and see all this stuff. They're taking us behind
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: the scenes, showing us facilities and doing all the fun things.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: And we get out there and I know my mom's
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: about to throw, and I kind of know her our emotion.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: You throw the ball like that, You throw a ball
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: like the girl. You throw a ball like a girl.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: You throw the ball like a girl. So they took
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: him over to get out, but I'm busting her balls.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: We're doing quotes from what's the movie with Tom Hanks,
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: the women's baseball movie Their Own, We're doing quotes from
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: a league of their Own. But she goes out there
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: and I'm recording and she throws it, throws the pitch
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: in the dirt, and I'm.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Like, oh, trash, trash. She's like putting the camera in
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: her face.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: But that's a video I always look back on just
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: to see moment that.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: That is a funny clip worth Chef putting into the episode.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Dude, all right.
- 1:02:08Speaker 7: Going out for going out for our first pitch.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: I gotta bring it all the way out to the mound.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: This is the Mother's Gate, the Mother's Day gift.
- 1:02:19Speaker 7: Everybody there you go, damn mom.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Trash tread because it's Yeah, Will is just out of
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: bashly Will in that moment. You were sure that dude.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I've got a lot of.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Cool messages over the last week from friends of the family,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: like friends of my mom. Oh good, just like writing
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: about that message. I woke up to another one this
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: morning from my boy, uh Foster Moreau, who was the
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: tight end on the Raiders at the time, that saw
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: that clip and he sent me a really nice message.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: But yeah, man, I number one, I appreciate you guys.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Is you guys sitting here with the boy as I
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: talked through something.
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: Yah, did one call out just to say people were
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: asking the comments if it was like a templated book
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: she wrote, or if it was like an empty notebook
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: that she filled because a lot of people were curious.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: There's like books that can happen nowadays.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: So yeah, it was a templated where there's questions from
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: her past growing up. Thinks her parents taught her old
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: friends that she spoke about, like she's answering questions in
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: like a templated book.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Then it gets to my birth.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: You know what she envisioned for me when I was young,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: And it seems like she stopped writing in it when
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: I was a senior in college because there's no mention
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: of like, you know, the NFL or anything like that.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: She talks about how proud she is of getting to
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: play college football and playing in Nebraska.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: But it's a very much like a templated thing. Part
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: of me.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: I took so long to even look at the book
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: or even think about it. I never opened it to
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: where I'm like, did she write is just like a journal,
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: to where she wrote to me in it, you know
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: what I mean to her. I had no clue what
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: I was about to open. Yeah, this new ru was
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: having such a hard time, and I'm like, man, I've
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: been talking about doing this, it seems like the moment
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: to do it. Uh, but yeah, it was a templated
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: book because there's a lot of them now that are
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: kind of sold out there, which I I love that,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: and I like tell myself, I need to do that
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: for my kids because I think it's a really cool thing.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: Oh buddy from away past episode putting us on game
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: with a journal.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Remember Spotify and the email account too.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: That's been a dad hack that's come up plenty of
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: times of create a Gmail account or whatever email service
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: you want to use and just email it every single
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: day and then once the kid is old enough, give
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: them a password and the email address and they can
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: get through and read through that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And dude, honestly, it's a I feel like, I
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: don't know this to be a fact, but I feel
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: like it. This was this was a situation that really
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: helped incubate this show, you know what I mean, Like
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: from as from a a position of it impacted me
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: in such a way, especially with Charli being pregnant and
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: having rue and articulating what I wanted to be as
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: a father and gravitating towards all the dad content and
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: the world out there because I just love it. I
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: love getting whatever new ideas are out there. When people
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: write in with questions and I might not have the answer,
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: but I like see myself in those questions because I
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: would gravitate to a lot of dad content that goes on, yeah,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: towards being in the podcast game and everything else. It's like, man,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: this would be this would be really cool. Like essentially,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: you're making a show speaking to your old self that
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: you know, my mom made such an impact on me
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: that it has impacted me in my own journey as
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: a dad, which having the show has been has meant
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: the world. Like whenever you guys reach out, whenever you
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: guys do comment about this stuff as awkward as I
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: feel crying or when my mom's stuff comes up in
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: my brain, I'm like, man, does this stuff come up
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: too much?
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Am I crying too much about this? People? You don't
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: know how much joy.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: And how much value you guys do bring to me
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: when I see that it does help impact or help
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: somebody that has missed their dad for thirteen years. Beck
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: was It was nice seeing that and understanding that we
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: all do. We all go through this shit together. Yeah,
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: and you're kind of one listen or one conversation or
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: one comment or right up away from connecting to something
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: that feels like yeah, I should see it this way,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: or yeah, I am feeling that anger and you just
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: feel like you're not alone, you know what I mean?
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Yes, And it's great to be able to smell the
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: flowers from a standpoint of being able to see the
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: community that has been built from this. We talked earlier
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: about the Jared Ladds Twitter group before the Dad's Twitter
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: community that he started and a lot of dad up
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: to one hundred and ninety eight members now, which that's
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: let's go, that's sick. But in that group, like these
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: dads are just like posting pictures of like them hanging
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: out with their kids.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Like it's the most dad coded group ever. Like we've
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: got our own Facebook now, it's like a Facebook for
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: these dads and be like I took my.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Kid fishing, we went to this pizza spot like blah
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: blah blah. But like the just to be like entered
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: into that world of being surrounded by other people that
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: are like, man, family is so important and being a
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: good dad is so important, and having that constant reminder, yeah,
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: being a part of this show like kind of puts
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: the blinders on because it is my job to like
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: do the show and to interact with that community. But
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: it is also a nice refresher sometimes of like, man,
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: I'm so lucky to be a part of this community
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: and see all this positive I have the most positive
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: timeline on the internet quote graphic, like I really do.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: It's crazy, it is. It's awesome. So oh and shout
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: out to you for ideating this show. But shout out
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: to the community.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: The shout out to the community. Askment because it does.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: It's like you almost it helps you if you just
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: think of the brand or the community and you factor
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: it into one singular person. It feels like you almost
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: have like an accountabil a buddy. Yeah, because there's a
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: lot of times where if I'm getting frustrated or I'm thinking,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: because it's obviously it's it's an ongoing cycle all the time,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: I'm almost like thinking about stuff we've said on the show,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: or thinking of a write end that somebody had, you
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: know what I mean to where you know.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: You're dealing with it in real time.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: Of you know what the Willie one shelf like anytime
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Charles talking about hanging up something now or doing something
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: like that now infiltrates my brain to where if there's
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: no if there's no none of that, who knows whatever
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: cycle it would have created if like I don't want
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: to do this, I'm being.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: So serious when you say that, But prepping for this show,
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: we used to have that or not used to have
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: we still have it. The the trenches segment that we'll
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: do sometimes, and the trenches segment that I would have sometimes.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Is solo Dad weekend.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: That was like something that I was like, man, I'm
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: going I'm really going through the shit, and not to
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: make light of anything that's been submitted to us.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: But like now in my head, I have these.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Ride ends of oh my dog died, I got in
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: a huge car accident, almost died, had to get surgery,
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: blah blah blah. At least I get to hug my
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: kiddos though, and I'm like, man, what am I doing
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: writing down the trenches.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: I had to have a solo Oh whoe is me?
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: It was just me and my daughter this weekend? Fuck,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: Like it really did shift my perspective so much of like, bro,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I'm so freaking lucky, It's unreal, and like, yeah, I
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: could get emotional if I went further, but that that's it.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I'm very low. I need this show. Well I do
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: have some building there, so I see it. That counts.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: We did have a ride in.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: If we want to go into some quick dad comments
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: and then maybe we hit to crack a cold one.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do it. Mark, So what is this? What
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: is this? Preface as? Is this and this I see email?
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Uh yes, but it was preface as like general comments.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Okay, general comments.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: So this one is fun because although it is email,
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: it's quick. Caitlin's husband wrote into the show last week
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: and I forget his name, his first name, but he.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Like he casually Zach. He casually was like, you.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Know, there's this great this great quote from my old
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: ball coach back in the day, Pete Carroll and Will
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: and I like laughed very hard at that because they're like,
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: oh yeah his old ball copy.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, just nonchalantly Pete Carrol, just a little old Peete
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Carroll and so, uh yeah, man, one of my old
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: mentors of mine, of Vince Lombardi, my old fish you
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: don't know who he is, my old fishing buddy, Nicholas Sabin, Whatst.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Virginia guy back in the day he goes by Nick. Yeah,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: he goes by Nick. He's got this great quote you
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: just spoke at the White House. But uh, his wife
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: rodin and this is what she had to say.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Her name is Caitlin. I hope I'm pronouncing this correctly.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: A bear.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Or keeber mt six here, mom of three, married to
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: the hottest USC offensive lineman to ever set foot in
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: the coliseum two thousand and six to twenty ten.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Did he play in the in the Rosewell game? That
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: means he would have played in the rossee Oh six, right,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: that's that was fo It was four years old because
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: he's Reggie bok he one was Yeah, Zach.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Zach Abert number seventy four and no hot offensive lineman
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: is not an oxymoron.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Single ladies.
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: Courtney Strong in parenthese she actually wrote that that's not
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Caitlin's obviously an empty sicco Uh find yourself an offensive lineman.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: They get the job done, best husband and best dad.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: Two comments empty fit. I'm a nurse, shout out Jillybean,
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: and I made it a priority to wake up at
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: five am before uh work four times a week to
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: get my workout in in the garage squat rack dialed
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: in waits ready to go, and let me tell you,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: empty sixers. It's a game changer for my mental health,
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: my physical health, and hey, if I'm being honest, it's
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: kind of an empty shockwave for the hubs. Works both ways.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Crying laughing face, hashtag.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Put a bow on ito, Uh siko, that's a good
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: looking for right. I want to be as that flow?
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Still going on with that? Did he play with Clay? Yeah?
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Yeah, God, you gotta ask Clay about Zach. He'll be like, Oh,
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: the hotty number seventy four and what's her name? Kayln Kaylin,
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: and god, she's I'm sitting here listening. It's like the
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: pet Fits world. It's not even done.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Oh we're still gone. We're still no, but continue your thought.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: No we finished. It's seeping with all these I know
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: what you mean.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Other comment for the girl dads out there, we have
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: two girls and got our boy two years ago. Our
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: family is complete and so full of love and joy.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Watching our girls love their brother is incredible. I'm gonna
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: share some advice, and someone told us when we decided
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: to roll the dice for one more, don't make eye
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: contact when you're trying to make that boy, I'm going to.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Read that again. I'm going to read that again because
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: that that this is this is my game, this is
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: raw game. This is from her.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: Don't make eye contact when you're trying to make that boy.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: That's all I gotta say. It's evidence based, this is
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: backed by science. Essentially. Love what you guys are doing.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Keep it up. MT six out that. Put that in
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: a frame. Put this one in a frame. That's a
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: great one.
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and as good as he gets
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: right there, I'm gonna put it on the shelf.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: You literally am.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: Don't hey, you want game on how to make a boy?
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: Don't make eye contact? I wonder if that came from
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: her or came from him.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Like, think if it came from her and they're about
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: to hit the shockwave and she's looking at him and
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: she's like, don't make eye contact with me, trust me.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: And the fourteenth would be a great date to test
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: that theory out. I mean, you get a little bit out.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: You're hitting a different we're hitting a different No, no, you're
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: in a different coaster.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Yoh sure, but who's to say, you know, I don't
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: just go to six lags and go, oh, I'm only
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: gonna do that one. I'm only gonna do the mister Freeze.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Oh, We're gonna do Mittal Freeze like five times, guys.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: That's the only one. No, we're gonna work our way
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: over to the Titan. We're gonna do Batman a little bit,
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: and you know we're gonna hit shock Wave.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: But just know when we hit that Batman, don't look
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: me in the e Don't fucking look at me. Don't
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: you fucking look at me. You look away right now.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: That's that's amazing. Shout out Kaitlyn. Shout out Kaitlyn.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: A quick quick clarification the national champion champ. That game
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: was five oh six, so we're both we're all kind
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: of right on that.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Okay, thank you for the clarity. Should update from Chef.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: I got a couple here on Spotify Jeff four days ago,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: new listener, dead of two beautiful girls four months and
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: twenty seven months. That's two brother, can't believe I'm just
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: not discovering you guys. Better late than never, Stoked to
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: be a t PT sixer. Let's go, Jeff. Thank you
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: for joining the brand. Thank you for joining this army
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: of bt sikos.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Jeff Better late than never better, Nate than lever, Jeff,
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: We're glad to have you. Yeah, we're glad to have you.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Nick Dido on Instagram. Boy, his mom is fighting for
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: her life at night with the three week old, but
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: tomorrow morning starts the war, my war at home. The
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: toddler is ready for potty training, and mornings are dad's responsibility.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: We have to start this on the right foot. Tonight
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: I moved the kid potty in the right position, covered
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: the couches and blankets, and studied the material.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: I think we're ready. As a US Navy sailor. Thank
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: you for your service.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Thank you sir, for fourteen years now we have sailors
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: around the world kicking ass right now so that I
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: can be on leave to take care of my family.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Thank you for their service. So is potty training important?
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: Yes? But will it break me?
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: No?
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: God bless you more. Good ship on it? Ship but yeah.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: The new comment this week hashtag ship on it. Good
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: ship keep going. They'll just stop with bt make our
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: life hell.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: But this is how we learn. The obstacle is the way.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: Put a bow on it, put a blindfold on it. Yeah,
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: if you're trying to have.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: A boy yeah, yeah, don't look him in the eye.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: I do have a quick new dad one. I only
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: have one.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: I still got, I still got another one, still got
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: another one. From William Dousa on Spotify. The fella's laying
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: here watching the podcast with my three week old baby
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: girl in my chest, talking about pet fit. There is
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: such unaccountability up for pet Fit. It's staring us in
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: the face. Shirt it is we can touch off in
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: the face. Something we can do is sign up for
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: then here we go. Oh now now we got we
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: got an idea. Man with William, I signed up for
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: a half marathon in May. So this is a half
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: marathons that's a slow burn and it's helped me get
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: out and work out and go on runs. Since I
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: signed up, I really felt better with my health and
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: it helps that you have something to work towards. Once
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: that event is over, the routine is set. Thank you.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: My mind has never gone Listen, this is Dan Gable quote.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: My mind has never gone very far from what I
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: wanted to accomplish.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: He threw a Dan Gable. Can I see that? Yeah? Absolutely,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: well this one will go somewhere as well. Okay, we'll
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: just start hanging up comments. We're just gonna start hanging
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: up comments. That's a new thing. Pek fit has got
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: to be a reality it it is. Did you see
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: the call out that I got? I don't so no,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: remind me now, remind me, tell me about it.
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: Somebody wants to race me to a sub two hundred weight.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: He's at two thirty and he's six foot I'm at
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: two twenty five or far two point fifteen and I'm
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: five foot eight.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: So I feel like I one hundred have the leg
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: up on him right Possibly, who knows.
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: Possibly it could be a genetic freak, isn't it kind
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: of it's kind of harder for the leakier guys to
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: drop or is it harder for shorter guys to drop weight?
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: It just depends. Depends. But he wants to race me
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: to do sub two hundred for diapers, depends on That's
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: a that's a good challenge. That's a good challenge.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: But as far as pt fit goes, we think about
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: routine and structure. Because I've been hitting my Zone two
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: this week, but that's about it. I have a sore.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: Next is outfitting the weight room at the end of
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: this month.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Two.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: Zone two is staying within a heart rate of zone
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: two heart rates, so mine is like one twenty five.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: I have to one thirty five. I won twenty five
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: to one for I stay in that zone. The structure
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: right now is getting one hundred and fifty minutes a week,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: so five thirty minute sessions and that's that's light work
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: to what I need to be at. Okay, But pt
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: fit there's an opportunity for routine and structure for this
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: community to where you might have that challenge.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: But what is the overall framework that we can give ourselves? Yeah,
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: how will this be implemented into my life?
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: What I think in my head is I think of
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: you know, Form Energy. They're they're a partner of ours
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: in the Busting with the Boys universe. Yes, first Form
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: or Andy Furcella had a framework called seventy five Hard,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: which is like more of an extreme like it's it's
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: an awesome framework in formula and everything else, but it's
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: almost like, how can you do an iteration to where
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: this pt fit is not only a movement but an
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: accountability thing for dads, like for us in our community. Yes,
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: whether it's you know, smaller things, whether it's like you know,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: hitting strength workouts, x amount of times a week zone
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: to her cardio x amount of times a week. Steps
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: getting your steps, and people are big on getting their steps,
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: and who knows. I'm opening this up, but I do
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: think there's something there because bro, I know for me personally,
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: I've got to get right. I've got to get like
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: on it like Charo Charo crushes it. She got her
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: You know how I said, I did my DEXA and
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: I'm like twenty seven percent body fat. Yeah, six hundred
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: grams of visceral fat. She does the same thing as
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: I do. Her stuff came back after essentially seven months,
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: She's down like four percent body fat. Her viscral fat
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: is way down. Like she like I have six hundred grams,
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: she's got like one hundred or eighty five.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Maybe I've read she's fresh off Kiddo number two.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: She's grinding Shit's being a great partner for me right
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: now on like because she knows I've been a little
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: disappointed in myself about all of that stuff. Like I
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: sit there, I use jokes, I do all these things
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: for my insecurities and everything else. But she's been a
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: great partner on like how can we structure stuff because
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: it's essentially it's like waking my ass up.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Earlier than you know.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: We already wake up at like six thirty am, seven o'clock.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: Get the kids going, she does the kiddo's upstairs. I'm
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: the dad who you know, well, whoever gets out the
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: feed while first. But I'm making breakfast and lunch for
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Rue and getting breakfast going for Scottie.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Like we have our roles to where our susans. We
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: crush it together.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like, man, how can I own the
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: morning because I know it's just me going to bed earlier,
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: and I know it's just me waking up earlier and
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: getting the work in.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Because she even brought up I feel like you need
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: to be.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: Around an accountability buddy or a group or something, because
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: you don't have that now that you're not done playing football.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: And clearly I've fallen off the I've fallen off the
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: bike when it comes to my own self care with
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: me being the only individual doing it or taking control
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: of what my structure is going to look like. She's like,
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: I think it'd be good if you got around other people,
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: whether it's me and you. Now that we have our
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: little room set up in the house, like if we
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: do stuff in the morning together.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: She's been all the time.
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: Yes, A running group, a online group.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, She's like, I think you just need the team aspect,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: and my brain just goes to it's like pt fit.
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: Yes, dude, I think we have a huge opportunity. And
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: also a side note, a very funny moment with Will
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: being at your house. I was asking you about some
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: financial advice. It then turned into you talking about your
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: health and stuff, and you were almost like trying to
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: explain like your health situation and how you're wanting to
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: get back on track. And it wasn't like you were
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: defending yourself to me, But in that moment I wanted
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: to be like, Will, do you do you see who
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: you're talking to? Like you got enough, Like, hey, don't
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: worry you're preaching to the choir, buddy, right, I'm right
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: there with you, I know, but but not to soften
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: the fact that you are very passionate about this, and
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: I equally saying, can I very quickly just because you
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: like hit so many buzzwords, talking about first form, talking
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: about seventy five hard all that stuff. I have a
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: really great email from Emmett Rodriguez that touches on all
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: that stuff I read no shit, yeah yeah, rip it.
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: So Emmett says, what's going on? Boy, has been a
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: long time listener. And now once you start by saying
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: thank you, the last the cries, the advice you have
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: shared have given me a great perspective and better feeling
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: going into my first baby. Boy, let's go, Immitt. I
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: want to talk about pt fit. I was once three
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: hundred and fifteen pounds at about the age of eighteen.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: Around that period in time, I began having a rhythmias
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: in my heart. My heart would spike all over the place.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Despite being an athlete in middle school in high school, I.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Was severely out of shape.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: During the time, I was hospitalized for a week and
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: had to have two ablations and coded during the second one.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Coding is very serious for anybody outside of the medical realm.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: That's when the little thing beside the hospital's bed starts
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: going deep and everybody in the floor runs in. That's
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: a coding is a big deal. Thankfully, I had a
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: great cardiologist and nursing staff that shocked me back to life.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: While waking up, I would come in and out of
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: sleep and listen to my parents talk about me and
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: how they didn't want to lose me. This was the
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: first time I saw my dad cry. Being the oldest,
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: I quickly understood how they could have easily buried their
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: child that week. The amount of pain and guilt I
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: had created for them, I knew I had to change.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: Once medically cleared, I began my fitness journey, dropping to
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: about two point fifty over a year three fifteen to
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: two point fifty in a year. Then I found first form,
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: became a legioneer while applying for physical therapy school and
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: committed to seventy five hard Through that I got down
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: to one eighty five and probably one eighty five from
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: three fifteen to one eighty five, and probably the healthiest
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: I have ever been. He's now twenty nine years old
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: and he exercised and exercise is his career now. As
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: a physical therapist, I prescribe exercise, so I have to
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: look the part, but I had to let myself go
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: a bit currently two twenty, but now that I'm expecting
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: my first son, I have recently been moved by living
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: to see him grow and being able to play and
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: run with him, show him how badass his dad is,
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: and inspire him to always prioritize health. He doesn't know
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: it just yet, but he has already made my life
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: so much better. And I'm so grateful that I get
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: to be his dad. Best from Fort Worth, Texas. I'm
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: telling you, we just there's something in the water.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: He also really juices me up. Man, keep providing these pictures.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: That's for Sella right there on the right, the guy
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: he's due.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, they're awesome. They are awesome people.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: Missouri boys. Really yeah.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: When we when we went out to do and Isa Bush,
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: yeah HQ, that's we went to their place. Like I
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: was on Andy Forcell's MFCO podcast, like back in twenty fifteen,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: where I'm talking about like Redskins football lead like all
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: this stuff. Like I'm a massive first form fan love
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: the Forcella brothers. Shout out sal and Andy. Okay, that's
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: they're awesome dudes, man, they are awesome dudes. And that
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: culture is is incredible. It's an A plus like people
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: that finding go on to and buy into it. It's
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: it's all time will plus to compliment them. If there's
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: any first form people listening. When Will H went and.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: Visited their office, you said something to the effect that
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: it was like touring a football program like and you'll
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: do the spring tours, and that it was the best
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: run football program that you have come across as far
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: as team buy in and mentality within the door, their.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: Culture, operation, people, the way the way they do anything
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: is the way they do everything.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, core values.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: It's it was fun to go to because you almost
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: get inspired with our own business culture and everything else
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: because the way they do everything is very it's very tight.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: But also everybody is bought in because they do personal
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: development stuff with their company.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: It's clean, it's beautiful.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: It does seem like a like someone sunk money into
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: a perennial D one university. Yeah, it's as close to
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: a football facility in college Division one as you would get,
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: in my opinion, to any company culture that's not like
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: in football.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: You know what I mean. They're supplements, their fitness, they're
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: all these other things. But it is. It's incredible, man, truly,
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: it's incredible.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: That's so sick, dude, And I love how much it
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: got you from coming back. You talked to individually everyone
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: in the office, and I got to hear you each
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: time telling.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: A different uh fact. But the word is. In fact,
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: it was like a different attribute about their company that
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: you'd forgotten. A detail, Yeah, a different detail that you'd forgotten,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: and you'd be like, oh, bro, they don't even they
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: don't even have cleaning. They don't have a cleaning crew
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: in the office. They pick it up, they pick it up.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: You don't pick it up. They dock your pay. Imagine
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: he imagine if I did that around here? What do
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: you think what happened?
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: I'm sitting there with like eight like cups on my desk.
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I mean, good call out last. This
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: is the last new dat comment. I'll just what else
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: do we have?
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Because I know we've been we've been rocking. Yes we can,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: we can hit this because.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: There's there's six over here I haven't read. Sometimes you
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: just gotta think we're rolling.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: You just gotta have an instinct to be like, okay,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: we don't crack a cold one. Let's crack a cold one. Pt.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: Sichos et Sicicos st Sichos.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: And goon Berets, goon Bereys and the goon Bereys.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: I feel like they we haven't been mentioning them enough.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: But somebody we have been mentioning enough because we can't
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: stop talking about them. Is Lollipop and will I.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Have your And this is a bit of a spoiler,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I have your third favorite flavor right here, you do
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: according to our taste test video on Lollipop, our blind
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: taste tests video that will be dropping later this week potentially.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I have an update update me.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: Classic Grape is now back in two zone. Well they're
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: number two now. WHOA really happened over the weekend?
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Really? Yeah?
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I've hit the watermelon line way too much. Yeah,
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: And honestly, tasting the Classic Grape on the taste test,
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: let me to drink another one over the weekend, and
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: I'm like, I messed with grape.
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: I messed with Grape heavy as well, and that was
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: from the blind taste. That's funny enough. I walked away
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: with the Classic Grape and the cherry. I was messing
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: with the cherry heavy. And I've never messed with any
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: cherry flavor. If I'm picking flavors, cherries never at the top.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: With Ollipop.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was maybe number one. I forget
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: my rankings. However, Ollipop, it's one of our favorites we
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: talk about all the time.

- 1:33:37Speaker 2: before when she's when she was a lot younger, and
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: Charlo took Rude to London.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Charlo takes roof everywhere. Why she's taking you? But yeah,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: I know, well she did off and I was like
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: I cannot keep it. You're gonna take rude. Not my
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: first born, but getting a rock with Scotty.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: Scotti's again sixteen months, and I feel like the fifteen
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: sixteenth month parties were person really starts coming to life
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: when you're if you're a parent, you got a younger one,
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: like with Scarlett. I know I've told you this, but
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: it's like I remember back to Rue, around sixteen months
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: is when their personality and everything comes to life because
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: they can walk, they can do all the things to
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: where they know what they're trying to do, and they're
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: starting to look at you and try and listen and
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: everything else.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Yep. So it was kind of.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: My first weekend or a few days with Scotty where it's
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: just me and her, like taking her around town, going
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: eat with the boys, getting her around different people because
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: on Friday, Clump and Jerry came to the house too,
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: and them just just interacting and socializing her with my buddies,
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: with my friends, and it was just a lot of fun,
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: like being on a routine, playing with her again, taken
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: her around town. It was just a lot of fun
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: to connect with Scotti where it's just me and her
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: and not the whole tribe of the entire family, where
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: it's me, Mom, rue Scottie, like it's just me and her, connecting,
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: me and her doing everything, getting to know her, her
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: waking up from her nap and be like daddad dad,
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: dad her in her mind like that's the only one
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: he does, the only one here banging on the crib dad. Yeah,
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: I don't think I talked to her. I'll be up
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: in three minute, sweetheart. And uh, but it was just fun, man.
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: I had a good time with Scotty. So that's what
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: my kracker cole.
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: One goes to congratulations on that Kracker cole and I
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: got to see it personally, and I'm glad I did
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: because you were operating. I just want to shout out
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: this one moment when you had both oven mits on
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: and you were making Scottie's pre nap launch and uh,
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: the chicken nuggies were not ready yet in the oven
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: and she was letting you know from the high chair
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: da with the hands going and you had both oven
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: mits on.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: You go, honey, hey, I know, I hear you listen,
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: but they're not ready. They need three more minutes.
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: And her kind of makeup face like ah, shit, and
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: y'all like having that little communication with each other. Yeah,
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: it was incredible to see. She's incredible, true too. She
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: put down the fruit.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: The point I keep opening up these little the little oranges.
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: What are they called?
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: Cuties? Tanger danjerine cuties them? I ate sharing? You want
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: one of these? She's running through them right now. Scarlett
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: sucked that entire one, you know, her mouth.
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: I had to fish it out of there, and I
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: got some notes from Mom. That's the number one way
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: to make them choke. You did not put your finger
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: in there and pull it out? Did you actually do that?
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: I was like, babe, my fish looked it. I went
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: in there. I didn't push you more in. I got
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: in there, scooped it out.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: Yeah, there wasn't a problem. How else am I supposed
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: to get it?
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: Go?
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: Suck it out? I mean, what are we doing?
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: My crack a cold one was couple's date night, and
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: it would have been playing at your house. But I
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: was guessing that might have been yours, so I wanted
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: to differentiate I equally that would have been my crack
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: a cold one. Okay, we had a date night, a
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: couple's date night with a babysitter.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: We're talking full fledged, the real deal thing.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: Jill and I got to go to Popstroke in Antioch,
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: and uh, if you've never been to Popstroke, it's a
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: nice little puppett kind of like adult putt putt thing
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: where you know, adult bevies are flowing. They got the
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: waiters running out to the course like mid putt putt.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: It was so much fun. Dude, really got to turn
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: off dad brain. Got to celebrate the couple that we
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: were with Brian and Hillary. She is very pregnant, due
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: like towards the end of May, so we're getting to
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: like celebrate that.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: Just fine. Getting to be out there, dude, and get
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: your hair down.

- 1:37:38Speaker 3: coming up to me and she's putting her arm around
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: me and looking up at me and doing the I'm like,
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: come on, man, hey, w'd that ben man with that
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: shit been trying to put a bow on it? Oh yeah, dude,

- 1:41:04Speaker 2: Hey, I understand what I went through with my mother
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: when I have a pet sixer out there right now
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: with a house to himself. Yeah, and nothing but time,
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: nothing but boredom in pizza and cheese and sports and.

- 1:43:19Speaker 2: you can, and just maybe a tear rolls down your
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: face because you should be so damn proud of yourself

- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Just suddenly, I can't play it too long.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: Can't play it too long, and we may we may

- 1:46:03Speaker 3: of the week.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: I don't think any PT sixers have a problem with

- 1:48:16Speaker 1: I had a no dad thing to read and you said, hey,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: you know, I get it, but we gotta you know,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: we gotta move on. And then I threw it. Yeah,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: I don't know where it went. Yeah, I'm so sorry
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: you to read it or give you the no you yes.
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: Reading the Lane from Spotify Lane longtime listener, first time commenter.
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: The wife and I found out a few weeks ago
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: we're expecting our second kid. March fourteenth. We're going to
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: announce to the family. Great day to announce my two brothers.
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: Tyler and Jordan claimed to be sickos. If they are
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: truly sickos, they'll see my comment or hear it on
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: the show and get to know first love the show
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: and use a lot of the hacks with my two
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: year old son. Pease don't tell mom or my wife.
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: I told the PT six world before the family.
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: If they're real sickos, they would obviously hear that, because
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: you could be tuning in and in the moment your
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: comment doesn't seem like it's getting read.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: Because we moved on. The real sickos stay tuned in
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: no matter what. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, Like looking.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: They're there, tell the very very end when we say,
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: hey the doe hushtag put a ball on it.
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yea yeah, hashtag medium rare, honey. And I just realized,
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: I say, you know what I'm saying a lot.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: Listen, buddy, I hear you. It's okay, yeah, buddy, okay, listen,
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: hey listen.
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: Also, I found the lame one mid Red I do
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: say sorry about that, Deke, so sorry about that, but well.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Dined, well done on the read.
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: Ummm listen, let's oh Dan Gable quote then lets yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: Yeahdan Gable quotes. This one comes from Dan Gable on
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: The Joe Rogan Experience, episode number one, six hundred and
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: twenty seven, and it goes as fallows, you know I
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: was crazy. I was crazy. I was definitely crazy, and
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: I used to run to work sometimes. It was a
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: couple miles away, Dan Gable. That Gable is a sick Oh,
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: he's a sicko. He was sick in the head. He's
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: admitting it.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: He's crazy, probably a little crazy. You know what. I'm
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: gonna run to work today. Why not. It's a couple
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: of miles away. That's fine. I love Dan Gable, love them.
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: This one comes from Derek Thompson on X It is
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: at dk thomp th h o MP. I booked marked
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: this one because when it came across my time home,
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: I'm like, this is damn good man and it's a
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: He captioned it a new newsletter in all caps, three
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: reasons to be a parent.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: I opened it up. It's got a short, little short,
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: a little something something.
- 1:51:00Speaker 2: Okay, the baby you bring home from the hospital is
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: not the baby you rock to sleep at two weeks,
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: and the baby at three months is a complete stranger
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: to both in a Jesus Christ in a we might
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: have to edit this up in a phenomenological sense. That
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: sounds great, phenomonological phenomenological sense.
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: Okay, let's start that over.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: The baby you bring home from the hospital is not
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: the baby you rock to sleep at two weeks, and
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: the baby at three months is a complete stranger to both.
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: In a phenomenological sense, parenting a newborn is not at
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: all like parenting a singular newborn, but rather like parenting
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: hundreds of babies, each one replacing the previous week's child,
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: yet retaining her basic facial structure. And this is a
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: quote parenthood abruptly catapults us into a permanent relationship with
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: a stranger. That Andrew Solomon wrote and far from the tree,
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: almost parenthood. It catapults us into a permanent relationship with strangers,
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: plural to the extreme.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: It's a love.
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: We got a lot of verbiage. It's a yeah. When
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: you become a parent, you meet your child, and then
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: you meet your child again and again and every day
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: after that. You will never stop meeting your child. That
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: is the one reason to become a parent, to have
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: a child, is to fall in love with a thousand
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: little beautiful strangers, and I.
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: Think that is that could not be more true. Yeah,
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: I definitely feel that way. I feel like I'm getting
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: to meet a new person every single morning.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: It does feel that way.
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: Yeah, And just again like the just all the thinking
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: about all the new versions, Like now I think back
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: to my crack of cold one and getting to spend
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: time with Scottie at fifteen months compared.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: To when I watched her when she was a lot younger.
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: Yeah, because I know I'm hanging out and building a
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: connection with a completely different person because she's a little
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: bit more with it. So there's a there's an element
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: there that I'm getting a lot more joy from. Not
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: that I didn't have joy when she was a little baby,
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: but you do feel like you're with a completely new person.
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: But I love that perspective. He does have a it's
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: a newsletter. You'd sit there and click on the link
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: and read all three reasons, one being loving strangers, the
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: second one being ride the Rides, and three is titled
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: Another Way. So this is his whole rite up on
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: being a dad.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: That's sick, and that's just getting straight posted to Twitter. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: and then under it like you know how you'll do
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: the thread.
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: He's got his link to the overarching all three reasons why,
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: and he dives in on what it's like for him
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: being a dad.
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: Got it? And that was kind of the surface level,
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: which again a lot of verbiage.
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: I would have sit there and had to type in
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: and google some definitions on a couple of these words,
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:53:54Speaker 2: But I do love the perspective on you are always
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: meeting your child, coming across a different version every day,
- 1:54:03Speaker 2: and they all pour into every day that you have
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: with them, pours into the next day, which pours into
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: the next day. So even as a parent when you
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: think they're not going to remember this, or because you
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: as you as an adult now can't recollect all of
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: these memories from when you were before what four years old,
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: maybe somebody has a phenomen logical.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: Memory when they were two, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: Yeah, But just knowing that everything is so foundational for
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: the next version and the kid's going to be.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: It is a very kind of scary eye opening experience.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Was that I've mentioned on this show. We'll do very
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: small amount of screen time with Scarlet with the Mickey
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: Mouse Clubhouse. Yep, and that's really it. We've only done
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to this point. Jilly Bean's at Target
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: and shows Scarlet this mini mouse doll. Scarlet went ballistic.
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: It's her favorite thing in the world, and there was
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: like actual Jill could tell that. She was like, I
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: know that thing. Yeah, I know that thing. Yeah, that's crazy, dude.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: How many months?
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: Well eight? Yeah.
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: And that's not to say like, oh, Scarlett's are super
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: smart at eight month old. It's just that, yo, you
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: might not think that stuff's impressionable. Obviously, she's you know,
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: recognizing something and just witnessing all the development is just
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: so fun. Yeah, fascinating for the parent when you see
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: the next iteration of like, oh damn, she knew what
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: that was. Yeah, and you're seeing them grow up in
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: real time. It's dude, it is the best. It's the best.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? What else is the best?
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: Will If there was a date on the calendar, just
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: to like put a bow on this episode, if there
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: was a day on this calendar.
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: If I don't think two long term and I just
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: what's in front of me?
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: What's the micro? The micro is the micro is March fourteenth?
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: Oh really for what? For what reason?
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Steak and blow Job Day. That's a national holiday.
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, it is, so that's an official thing.
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: Yeah, if you if you google what holiday is March fourteenth?
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: Let's just look at it now.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's go ahead and get on the Google machine.
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: What do people celebrate on March fourteenth? It? What's the
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: internet say?
- 1:56:39Speaker 6: Fuck Pie Day, International Day of Mathematics, Genius Day, National
- 1:56:49Speaker 6: Potato Chip Day, and Bake a Pie in Solidarity Day.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: Ah so now I get a sneak, a blowjob and
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: a pie. Damn of them. You can celebrate both. That's okay.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: Let me just all hit the dive, dive deeper in
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: AI mode. Oh okay, what about.
- 1:57:09Speaker 5: As you on March fourteenth? Well, what Wikipedia's Steak and
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: Blowjob Day? It's also Steaking Knobber Day, our Friend's Overseasnobber Day.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: No, bah, I canna get your stiking. You gotta get
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: me a jump.
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: I just asked, I said, what about Steak and blow
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: Job Day? Steak and Blowjob Day, often called Steak and
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: BJ Day, is an unofficial satrical holiday celebrated on March fourteenth,
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: exactly one month after Valentine's Day. It was conceived as
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: a male response to Valentine's Day, which some feel is
- 1:57:51Speaker 2: a holiday primarily focused on women.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, so I'm not saying that that's true,
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: but that's fair. I see that. I see how they
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: land on that. Yeah, that's like some ticket.
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: Literally is widely considered an internet meme or a joke
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: rather than.
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: A legitimate holiday.
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: Oh okay whatever, Okay, Well, it's near and dear to
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: some people's Sorry, It's.
- 1:58:15Speaker 2: Not recognized by any government or greeting car company, and
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: it remains largely viral internet phenomena.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: Oh okay, is it recognized by any like podcasts?
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: Think?
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: Oh well, I don't think we need an answer. It
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: is recognized before the dad's pat.
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: You see what the response to the response for Valentine's
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: Day is the female version of Steak and Blowjob.
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: Day follow up follower's a follow up follow on the
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: fourteenth of April.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna pronounce this in correctly.
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: It's cake and cannilingush knelgis, which is the FEMA fallatio
- 1:58:47Speaker 5: if you will. So it goes Valentine's Day, Steak and
- 1:58:51Speaker 5: Blowjob Days a.
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: Little trip downside, get on down there. I'm good with that.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: That's good.
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: That feels like a really great place to uh finish
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: the Yeah, the episode.
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: Yeah, to wrap the sode and we will keep the
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: empty sixers in mind when we have this next April
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: fourteenth coming, cake and kind of angus. Yeah, cake and
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: kind of angus.
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: You get some on Valentine's, I get some on steak
- 1:59:24Speaker 3: and BJ you get something again, and then well that's
- 1:59:27Speaker 3: we need to have been another one.
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: March fourteenth and April fourteenth. We head south. We just
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: head south. Came man, you don't have to move down.
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: Then you visited? Yeah, put a blindfold on it. How
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: should I put h? Good? So take out your trash.
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: I love you for the dance, man, for the dance.
