Sergeant Don Harms, born on June 29, 1919, celebrates his 105th birthday today. A distinguished veteran of the D-Day invasion, he holds the honor of being Humboldt County's oldest living veteran. Sergeant Harms served with the 5th Ranger Battalion, attached to the 69th Division during D-Day. His military journey began in 1941 when he was the first selected under the selective service number 158, drawn by the Secretary of War in Washington, D.C. during World War II.
