The First Scratch
The first scratch on a new phone, watch, car or piece of furniture can feel disproportionately upsetting. Yet months later, when there are several marks, they somehow stop mattering. Episode 265 explores why we become so attached to perfection and what happens when we finally lose it. Perhaps scratches don't always mean something has been ruined. Sometimes they're simply evidence that something has been used, experienced and lived with. Life collects marks too, and maybe accepting that makes it easier to actually enjoy it.
