- 0:19So thank you. And yeah, let's get into this
- 0:22podcast, shall we? Boom.
- 0:25Hello. And welcome to another episode
- 0:27of the Christian we've podcast today's This is a podcast of
- 0:31hailing, all the way from Texas in the United States, which goes
- 0:35by the name, Jennifer Weintraub. Welcome to the show.
- 0:38How you doing? I'm fantastic.
- 0:40How are you? I'm very good.
- 0:42It's been here. I'm happy to have.
- 0:45You happy to have you? Thank you for agreeing to do
- 0:47this. Yeah, let's jump straight into
- 0:48your podcast, so you are the co-host of the speculate with us
- 0:52podcast. Talk to us about the types of
- 0:54topics that you tend to discuss on there and why you decided to
- 0:57start this podcast, okay? Well, first off, I'm the host
- 1:01because I like to take the title and the other two are the
- 1:04co-host since I do believe them. You know, head host.
- 1:10I don't know. Where is the hostess with the
- 1:12mostest post? I guess?
- 1:14Yeah, I guess there isn't actually a word is, therefore,
- 1:16like ahead host of a show? No, I just always been like
- 1:21this. Is my show and you guys got to
- 1:22come on it. No, it started.
- 1:27I want to say after the covid-19.
- 1:30Stuff. I kept getting on social media
- 1:32and I've always been a huge, like conspiracy theorist and I
- 1:37love looking in the different things and just thinking about
- 1:40them. I don't care if they're true or
- 1:41not. I just think it's fun to talk
- 1:43about and after covid and the election was happening.
- 1:47Everybody started getting so like hostile about, if you
- 1:51believe anything that rather than the narrative that's being,
- 1:54you know, given to you, you are a trump supporter or you believe
- 1:59in Q&A. Don or it's just like they
- 2:01lumped you into this huge category and I was like it was
- 2:04real hateful rhetoric and like going on in the comments section
- 2:08and so I was like I really want a peaceful place to just have
- 2:12these discussions and everybody's like respectful of
- 2:16one another. We don't call names.
- 2:18Yeah, their beliefs might be ridiculous, but it's okay
- 2:20because it's their beliefs and not ours.
- 2:23And so, anyways, that became the speculate with us podcast with
- 2:28my husband and my One of my best friends Billy and it's been
- 2:33really fun. You get to finally meet people
- 2:35that you like you're like oh there are peaceful people out
- 2:38there and it's not all like it says it is on Facebook and it's
- 2:41been a really fun journey to just be able to talk about
- 2:44things that like I said I mean who knows what's really going
- 2:48on. I think that was my whole point
- 2:49and it all is like nobody really knows the truth unless they saw
- 2:53it with their own eyes, right? So why are we fighting over
- 2:56what? We deem the truth when it's all
- 2:58relative to what source. It's Being from so, you know,
- 3:02it's it was that and it's been a fun ride and I'm looking forward
- 3:06to more of it. So when it comes to the
- 3:10approaching of different topics, do you kind of like come in with
- 3:14like, okay, here's like all of the fact that you do have, do
- 3:17you go through like I guess what I'm saying is like a rigorous
- 3:19research process for it or do you kind of just go?
- 3:21Okay, this is the topic, let's just shoot on what we know and
- 3:24see where it goes. What's the what's the style?
- 3:28That's why I've used Discord so much.
- 3:30Has for our kind of layout. It's been very helpful to have
- 3:35all invite the guests in about a week, prior to the topic, unless
- 3:40they're already in there, we recycle a lot of guests to.
- 3:42So, a lot of times I'll be like, oh, here's a topic.
- 3:45I just found who wants to be on it and I'll tag everybody and
- 3:48then we have room for like, two more people and then we'll just
- 3:51keep posting articles, they find on it.
- 3:53We'll have our discussions in the group and then that way
- 3:56we're kind of prepared to see where everybody's kind of coming
- 3:58from when we started. Hoarding but then who knows, you
- 4:01know, might go a completely different direction while we're
- 4:04recording or go down and another Rabbit Hole or, you know, it's
- 4:07not very structured. What we do, we just kind of are
- 4:09like, let's discuss this and see what happens.
- 4:12And so yeah, they sometimes it works better that way.
- 4:15I mean, I must say for me personally, for my podcast, I
- 4:19need that kind of structured. Just I think that's just how I
- 4:22work. I don't know.
- 4:23I've noticed it's the same across everything that I do, but
- 4:26I know many people and I've interviewed people on the
- 4:28podcast before that, I have like a I guess a less structured
- 4:33structure but sometimes that that is better because, you
- 4:37know, if you do have like a really rigid structure that can
- 4:39actually sometimes be to the detriment of the podcast.
- 4:41So yeah, I think it was for you guys that's really cool who is
- 4:46some of your kind of more memorable guests that you've had
- 4:49on the show and and why was that the case?
- 4:52Well we lucked out I'm actually a hair stylist in Texas.
- 4:56I have been for God like 13 years.
- 5:01I think. I know.
- 5:03Where are you from? I'm from the UK.
- 5:06Okay, so, you know about Toni & Guy?
- 5:07Yeah, I was trained with Toni & Guy for 10 years.
- 5:12I managed their salons and I was a hair cutter with them.
- 5:16And then I went out on my own and I started doing mobile hair.
- 5:19So I go to people's houses and they come to mind and I get to
- 5:23have all the money instead of Toni & Guy taking all of it.
- 5:27But How long does it actually take to become a hair stylist in
- 5:33America? So you go to hair school for.
- 5:39I want to say it was like 12:00 so it's about a year if you go
- 5:43full time. Oh well, okay, it is like nine
- 5:46to five. You have to go to like a
- 5:48specific college or do you just do classes with a particular
- 5:52provider? Like, how does that work?
- 5:54Yeah, there's different. So the one I went to is Ogle.
- 5:57Toni & Guy has their own School, Paul.
- 6:00Will has their own school and really it's kind of like this
- 6:03contest of who has the better, you know, education.
- 6:07But what it comes down to is all you're going to have to do is
- 6:09pass this lame-ass test at the end of it.
- 6:12And then you're going to have to go to a salon and get like
- 6:15trained and you know all this other stuff or you're going to
- 6:17go to Supercuts like a low-end salon and they're going to let
- 6:21you screw up a bunch of people's hair and you get paid ten
- 6:23dollars an hour for the rest of your life.
- 6:24You know. It's it's up to you what you
- 6:27want to do but Tony and I provide And to Ogle and then I
- 6:31started with Toni and Guy while I was still in school and they
- 6:36trained me their training takes about a year to.
- 6:39Hmm. So you're bringing in models and
- 6:41all that and then from there you just build up, you know I think
- 6:47I started charging like $44 a haircut and by the time I left I
- 6:51was at 80 so every year 15 dollars so that is I mean okay
- 6:58the reason I I'm intrigued by it while I'm just Intrigued in
- 7:00general, I guess, I'm not so awesome but not many people may
- 7:03know this but my father is actually a barber and it's in
- 7:08the family business. So I have like a bit of a
- 7:12personal stake in this let's say and I always found like the
- 7:16concept very fascinating particularly now because I don't
- 7:18I'm sort of like a freelancer in the marketing field and the way
- 7:21I look at hair styling is that it's like this fantastic skill
- 7:26that you can literally just take anywhere in the world with you
- 7:29during a meal. Go freelance with it.
- 7:31But what I'm particularly interested to know is that do
- 7:34can you operate in that manner? Like a sort of a freelance like,
- 7:38you know, you go wherever you want and you do it that way or
- 7:41do you have to kind of be affiliated with the like a
- 7:43particular brand like what the kind of options in America as
- 7:46far as like coming here? I think that you could just
- 7:50freelance straight out of school if you wanted to, but I think
- 7:52that's very risky and I would never advise to do that after.
- 7:57So, for you, you've been in the field for some time, right?
- 7:59You Bill, A reputation nervously with hairdressing and bar
- 8:03worship, it's very much a case of building a client base.
- 8:07And yes, it's very much Word of Mouth like, oh, you gotta have
- 8:10this hair stylist, she's great. And you refer each other, right?
- 8:13Right. Obviously over do over those
- 8:14years. Like, if you were to set up your
- 8:16own business, now you could be like, hey, I'm going to start my
- 8:19own thing and those clients will come over because they trust you
- 8:22and they would refer their friends to you and blah blah
- 8:23blah. So like I completely agree with
- 8:26you. Yeah, if you're just getting out
- 8:28of college and doing it, that's the worst.
- 8:29Not true. Yeah.
- 8:32Well, what just you need to meet people?
- 8:33Do you need to network, right? Yes.
- 8:35But like would you recommend it now?
- 8:37Like having haven't been in the industry for a while?
- 8:40You think it's a viable? Oh yeah.
- 8:41I mean, that's what I eventually did.
- 8:43Because it's like, how else you either move up and you make a
- 8:47company more money or you keep moving up and you make yourself
- 8:51that money? And I realized that a at Toni &
- 8:55Guy at the time you could only do color or cut, I was still
- 8:59doing color on. On the side, but in the salon, I
- 9:02could only do cuts, but it was okay, because it was like $80
- 9:05every 45 minutes. However, I wasn't using anything
- 9:09of theirs. It was my talent and my scissors
- 9:11that I bought in like a little bit of their hair product and
- 9:14they were taking 50% of my cut, you know, this is why I was
- 9:18like, literally leave and only take, 50 percent of my clientele
- 9:23and make the same amount of money in my pocket, and have a
- 9:26way less stressful life and be able to like stay with my kid.
- 9:30Home and so that's what I did. I basically was just like screw
- 9:33this, I left I actually tried it out for a month before I told
- 9:38them, I quit I went on like a long vacation hmm because yeah,
- 9:42as long story I was supposed to actually move for a month to
- 9:45like go be with a guy and we broke up and so I was like I'm
- 9:49just going to use this to see if I can go out on my own you know
- 9:52and after that month I was like oh hell no I'm never going back.
- 9:55I give us so relaxing and like I love my clients they're like
- 10:00Family at this point, you know, a lot of them have been with for
- 10:03the 10 to 12 years, I've been doing here, so I don't need a
- 10:07box, you know, that they come to to hang out with me.
- 10:10They can come to my house and I can go to theirs and it's all
- 10:13good and then I don't have the overhead either.
- 10:15So I'm literally doing the same thing like yours.
- 10:17It's like the most freelance you can possibly be because I don't
- 10:21have to rent a room or anything like that.
- 10:23It's just myself. I'm bringing myself my talent to
- 10:26your house and we do our thing and then we hang out and it's
- 10:28cool. It's a really good way to my
- 10:31business. I mean, you know, I feel kind of
- 10:32bad that I haven't bothered to learn it yet, myself.
- 10:35It just never really come up. Like, I did very briefly in turn
- 10:39in my dad's store just as a Saturday boy for, like, a year
- 10:42when I was like 12 or 13. We map the hair and yeah.
- 10:46Yeah. You know, I just it's quite
- 10:48funny actually after about a year, I got fired.
- 10:50Yes, I got fired by my dad. Funny story.
- 10:53So I had this asshole manager that was there and I don't know
- 10:57why he was there but he was a manager.
- 11:00Sure. And it was weird because like
- 11:01here I am 12 13. I worked crazy hours.
- 11:06I'm pretty sure it was illegal but yeah, it's fine.
- 11:08Child labor a little bit but at the same time was with my dad's.
- 11:12Okay. And but that when I look back
- 11:15I'm like damn, I used to work like the full day like every
- 11:19weekend for a year like 10 11 hours a day like what the hell.
- 11:25Anyway so there was this asshole manager there and it was really
- 11:29weird. For me because, you know, my
- 11:31dad's over there. So he in my mind at this age is
- 11:35like the most authoritative person in the situation and then
- 11:38there's this other guy giving me orders and technically because
- 11:41he's an adult, I look at him like, okay, I'll do what he says
- 11:45but I also realize he's an asshole.
- 11:47And you know what I mean by that is like let's say I'm doing
- 11:50something else, right? And I'm putting 100% of my
- 11:53effort into that he's constantly like you know, taking Joe making
- 11:58jokes, making fun of Me and calling it banter and then also
- 12:03being like, why haven't you done this yet?
- 12:04What have you done this yet? We haven't done this yet.
- 12:06It's like dude, I'm doing this thing.
- 12:08Like also what are you doing? Better than watching me
- 12:13believing a child. What's wrong with you?
- 12:15Yeah anyway, so yeah, after about a year, one day watching
- 12:23this guy's hair, you know, it's pretty normal.
- 12:24And as I'm watching it, I turned away first Always pay attention
- 12:31to what you're doing, just in life.
- 12:34And he's just having a go at me. And and bear in mind, he's
- 12:37supposed to be cutting the guy's hair as well.
- 12:39So, he's actually not doing what he's supposed to be doing
- 12:41either. He's just turned to me, he's
- 12:42like, why haven't you clean like the bathroom or something
- 12:45bubbler? Yeah.
- 12:46And it's like well, clearly like the shop floor is the priority.
- 12:48The bathroom is like a lesser priority coming.
- 12:53So anyway, I carry on and all I hear is I'm going to move away
- 13:00from the mic from this, okay? Here is this, I go and I'm like,
- 13:04what what what? And I look down and basically
- 13:06I'm accidentally burning. This guy's head with the water.
- 13:09Oh shit. So I quickly turn it off.
- 13:12And then so the managers having a go at me he's like oh you've
- 13:17gone too far now and I'm like, fuck you man.
- 13:20And then basically, my dad is just looking at me.
- 13:25He doesn't even say that you just Come here and it gives me
- 13:29some some money and he says, take a taxi go home and that was
- 13:33his way of saying you're fired. He was sweet about it though.
- 13:39Yeah, I remember for a while afterwards, I was trying to get
- 13:41my job back and explain like it wasn't my fool, you know?
- 13:44And and the irony is he fired that guy later on anyway and
- 13:47like, I knew get fight and like I can't say why you got fired,
- 13:51but like, you know, he got fired and quite rightly so definitely
- 13:55not for being a jackass. This is because he was being way
- 14:01too nice. He was he was doing something
- 14:03that he shouldn't have been doing outside of the shop floor.
- 14:05Let's put it that way. Okay.
- 14:08Yeah. Hair salons are wonderful places
- 14:10for some interesting stories that man drama drama drama and
- 14:15speaking of which give us some of your best.
- 14:18Oh God I have such good ones. Well because I was a manager, I
- 14:23had to I'm like a very non-confrontational person.
- 14:27But being a manager, you can't really be like that.
- 14:29So, I was always kind of like, okay guys, we have to talk about
- 14:33what you did wrong, you know? But I was like, I really love
- 14:36you guys and I'm sorry that I have to tell you anything, but
- 14:40so one of my favorite guys that I worked with, he was the top
- 14:44level, dude. He's an Asian dude, not gay,
- 14:46which was so weird to me, but he had like, that's a good point.
- 14:51It's so weird. Like, but women flock to him, he
- 14:54was really good at what he did. He charged like $90 a haircut
- 14:59but didn't stop anybody. And I was like, man, I need to
- 15:04find a husband. Like this guy, he's just like
- 15:06awesome. You know, he's such a good
- 15:08husband to his wife and all this stuff and then like this new
- 15:12girl comes and I'm like they're flirting a lot, you know.
- 15:16And the people are like other coworkers are like saying
- 15:21they're uncomfortable, because they'll be kind of like touchy
- 15:24in the break room and so basically escalates Point where
- 15:27I have to say something to both of them or else other.
- 15:31People are uncomfortable in that sexual harassment.
- 15:33Correct. So so I'm like goddamn dude this
- 15:37guy is my like Mentor who I look up to you know and now I have to
- 15:41go scold him and oh no it's like this horrible awkward.
- 15:47I sit both of them down and I'm like, look, I don't care what is
- 15:50going on between the two of you. I don't have to agree with it or
- 15:53not, but you have to keep it out of the salon, you know?
- 15:57Or whatever. So that was awkward and itself.
- 16:00But then the wife would start coming in and like, making
- 16:03little comments to the other girls.
- 16:05So she knew and the whole thing was still going on.
- 16:09So we all knew that too, and it was just like, it was the worst
- 16:13thing. I was like, I hate cheating, but
- 16:16I love this guy. But I hate this guy now, you
- 16:18know, it's just like this whole going to say, as well, like the
- 16:22I hate real, I think most people do, right?
- 16:25Yeah. Like if you're married to
- 16:26someone, You know, that they're cheating, why make like snide
- 16:30comments to everyone and be like a not just just confront a
- 16:33person, get a divorce or I don't know.
- 16:35Something why stay with that person.
- 16:37If you know they're cheating on you, I don't understand that.
- 16:39I don't understand how people do it because for me lack of, you
- 16:43know, the trust there is just like, well, if you don't you
- 16:45have, if you hid it from me, that's a whole that's a big
- 16:49problem and we're done. If you did it came home and
- 16:52we're like, holy shit. I screwed up.
- 16:54Maybe we can work through it, maybe I don't know, but because
- 16:58at least you had it, you know, like a conscience enough to be
- 17:02like, I need to tell her immediately when it happens, you
- 17:05know, versus trying to carry out this life or an entire
- 17:08relationship. So that to me is the difference,
- 17:12but I'd still don't know if I could ever deal with it.
- 17:15I'm jealous. No matter what I gotta say,
- 17:18like, for me personally, I could never forgive someone and but
- 17:21here's the thing, great, if, if someone like one-off sleeps with
- 17:25someone like one off, It, I could.
- 17:29I could forgive that person I couldn't continue being with
- 17:31them but I could forgive that because you know what we're all
- 17:34human. Jeannot mean shit happens.
- 17:36You know it's love sex, whatever.
- 17:39It's all you know, it's above like it you know you don't put
- 17:44logic into the situation. You it's like damn I feel a
- 17:48connection with this person. Holy shit and stuff happens.
- 17:52Right? Yeah and but here's the his the
- 17:55issue I suppose it is about conscience for the most part and
- 17:59It's a long-term deal. If they're like regular sleeping
- 18:02with someone like, I don't think I could ever forgive that like,
- 18:05that's, it's so disrespect. And it's like, you know what,
- 18:08like, and I've reason this as well.
- 18:10I like, in my mind in more recent years, the way I look at
- 18:12it is if I'm if I start like having feelings for other
- 18:16people, I don't think it's bad to have like An interest in
- 18:21other people. Because like, a lot of people
- 18:23forget that when you get married, when you, when you get
- 18:25in relationships and you fall in love, like your drive, doesn't
- 18:29like turn off. You don't just stop fancy and
- 18:31other people and like, you know, I don't believe in that hold.
- 18:33There's only one soul mate thing, there are many, like you
- 18:36click with different people and like you can't do.
- 18:40No, I've met people where, you know, I'm like, yeah, this will
- 18:44be perfect, but like she's married or I'm with someone or
- 18:46whatever and it's like you just move on.
- 18:48You just go. Okay, cool.
- 18:50Cool, too. Nice to know that there's, you
- 18:52know, other options. Nice to know.
- 18:54I'm still, you know, wanted whatever, you know.
- 18:57Yeah. But you move on, right?
- 18:59Right. But I think, like, a lot of
- 19:02people just don't get that. And they go, they kind of, they
- 19:07forget about that. And it's like that.
- 19:09If you start genuinely having feelings for someone else, just
- 19:13end the thing. Just, just be honest with your
- 19:16partner, say, look, I'm sorry, I've started having feelings for
- 19:19someone else because, you know, Know what?
- 19:21Yeah. They'll be upset in the
- 19:22beginning. They'll be heartbroken but in
- 19:24the long run they'll respect you they won't hate you and they
- 19:27won't try and mess up your life afterwards.
- 19:30Because you didn't like mess up, there's I mean, it obviously
- 19:33depends on the person. But yeah, you go, I mean, yeah,
- 19:36most of the time it's, I mean, I've actually had that situation
- 19:39happen where I was about, to get married to my daughter's dad,
- 19:43and I was looking for a DJ and I reached out to an old boyfriend
- 19:47of mine, because he was a DJ, and I was like, oh, he'll
- 19:50probably Give me with somebody cheap and we ended up talking
- 19:53for like five hours that night and I had these weird little
- 19:56butterflies and I was like this is so not okay you know and so I
- 20:01ended up really abruptly like breaking up with her dad.
- 20:04Yeah. And I'm sure he was kind of like
- 20:06what the hell you know? Because I didn't have the heart
- 20:08to say like it's somebody else it was just more like it's not
- 20:12you, you know, kind of thing. Like we don't need to be
- 20:15together but I couldn't fathom like having those feelings for
- 20:19someone else. But continuing to say, I love
- 20:22this other person because obviously I didn't enough you
- 20:25know, and so I don't understand people not cutting it off, I
- 20:29think it is like kind of like a sociopathic trait like in people
- 20:34where they can, just forget that this person has emotions and are
- 20:38getting hurt while they're doing something.
- 20:39That is pleasing them. You know, I think a big part of
- 20:42it is this feeling and like, I touched on it earlier, but like
- 20:45this idea of feeling wanted, you know, because as human beings we
- 20:49forget that like You know, we have egos and as much as we
- 20:53might say, oh, I don't have a new go, everyone has an ego.
- 20:55Of course, it's whether or not you choose to be humble and you
- 20:59choose to kind of just be like that.
- 21:00This is BS. This is silly.
- 21:02You know, there's like if people give me compliments or if
- 21:04someone goes our hey, you're gorgeous, you're good-looking,
- 21:07you're this, you're that. I'm like, okay, that's nice to
- 21:09hear, but like, that's not going to change my perception of
- 21:12myself. I'm still just going to be like,
- 21:14like this. Yeah, and a lot of people, I
- 21:17think when they're in a relationship, particularly the
- 21:19relationship is not. Not going well and someone else
- 21:22is showing them attention than I could.
- 21:24I like this. I like this.
- 21:25I like it. And it's not even like, it's so
- 21:27childish like it's a drug. It's literally a drug, like,
- 21:31give me more. I gotta get this phone number,
- 21:32so then they can tell me, you know, even more often or
- 21:35whatever. Yeah.
- 21:37It's, it's yeah, it's definitely something where you have to
- 21:40remember that. You also once had that with the
- 21:43person you are with. It's just a person with them for
- 21:46so long but it doesn't feel like butterflies or whatever.
- 21:50I mean, When I get because I have been locked in the house
- 21:54for like, you know, since covid. But I also during covid acquired
- 21:57like in the past two years, I acquired three children, three
- 22:01more children. So now I have four and then
- 22:04covid happened. So I literally don't leave the
- 22:06house at all and so and then I also had gone from like losing a
- 22:10lot of weight to having two children and now anyways, so now
- 22:15when I go to the gas station and the guy hits on me or something,
- 22:18I was like come back and I tell my husband like, Oh my God,
- 22:21that's it. And so we kind of like have a
- 22:27running joke of like somebody found me attractive again.
- 22:30He didn't pass another thing as well like your husband's coolest
- 22:33shit for being like. That's why, because there's so
- 22:35many guys out there that be like other girls.
- 22:38Looking at you, let it's a good man.
- 22:40If other guys are looking at your woman and vice versa is
- 22:44that means that like you know you look at it enough to look at
- 22:47and here's the thing, like the fact that you come back and
- 22:49you're like, hey these guys check me out and it made me feel
- 22:52good, like you should be happy for your wife and be like, yeah,
- 22:54you know. Good I'm happy.
- 22:55Happy for goods. Like you look great and then
- 22:57right. But here's the first, dude, I've
- 23:00been with the could be like that, you know, he's very like
- 23:04humble and for me, it's like this thing.
- 23:07I'm trying to teach myself to be more like him because I'm like a
- 23:11girl hearted, one of your Facebook chats.
- 23:14I gotta go see her profile. How do you even know this
- 23:16person? What's her mutual friends and
- 23:18like, I'm still like that and he's like, what have I done to
- 23:21make you feel like that? And I always told him, I'm like,
- 23:24it's not that you've done. Thing, it's literally that
- 23:26nobody has ever proven that. That's not going to be the end
- 23:29of our relationship. Like, I've always been with a
- 23:31cheater and so definition of insanity is expecting something
- 23:37different than what you've always.
- 23:39You know, scene, it's hard to give that up and like have full
- 23:43trust in somebody after things like that happen.
- 23:45I think without State well, I'm going to State the obvious.
- 23:48So apologies, but like, obviously trust is the
- 23:51foundation of any relationship and every time you enter one you
- 23:55kind of gotta just be like, Even though I feel like I shouldn't
- 24:01trust anyone, I'm going to trust you and just please don't break
- 24:05my heart and, and it's like that, you know, because it this
- 24:09whole social media thing, like, you know, like what I do.
- 24:13Okay. When I'm single, you know,
- 24:15obviously, like right now I talk to anyone.
- 24:17I want all the time, do whatever I want, right?
- 24:20Right. When I'm in a relationship, I do
- 24:23out of respect for the other person.
- 24:24I don't say anything about it, but I do kind of, you know, I
- 24:27won't maybe go. On on a coffee date with another
- 24:31woman or something. Because I just feel that that's
- 24:33inappropriate and like at the same time, I don't, I don't
- 24:36think they would it be anything wrong with that, in the sense
- 24:38that like I could just sit platonically and have a coffee
- 24:41with another woman, and it means nothing, but it's just like,
- 24:45Because I would feel uncomfortable if the reverse was
- 24:48happening, right? And I just feel like, you know,
- 24:51what's the point like, why do that?
- 24:53And like that's more the sort of thing I'd want to be doing with
- 24:56my significant other not, you know?
- 24:59Because it's quite an intimate thing.
- 25:00It is. Yeah but at the same time if I'm
- 25:02now, you know, with friends work people, I don't know, maybe I'm
- 25:07doing like a work project and it happens to be a woman there, you
- 25:09know, I do acting for example, right?
- 25:12So if the other person is a woman, I'm going to act with
- 25:16her, right? I don't expect my partner to be
- 25:18able jealous and funny reich's. I expect that they might say
- 25:21something fair enough, but at the same time it's like look,
- 25:24this is this is work, that was creeping around and like, yeah.
- 25:29And that's the thing, like I personally need someone who and
- 25:32this is something I've really paid attention to like 2:30.
- 25:34Haven't been single for God knows how long now.
- 25:38I think, I think about this. I'm like, no the next person
- 25:40they got to be, they got to trust me because I can't deal
- 25:43with jealous types. I can't deal with that, like,
- 25:45I'm Member, I've dated people in the past where they just
- 25:48constantly or like, who's this, girl?
- 25:50Why did you say this to this person blahblahblah?
- 25:53And it's like, look, I'm not a cheater.
- 25:55I'm not that type of person. Yeah.
- 25:57You don't trust me then, that's your problem.
- 25:59You know? Like either you trust me and
- 26:01we're together and we're a unit or you don't trust me and we end
- 26:04this now, like, I can't be dealing with just jealous types,
- 26:08you know. And I understand this is a trait
- 26:10of people, but like, just keep that away from me, you know?
- 26:15That's this is my two cents on that for.
- 26:18No, I feel you and it take that. I feel like it takes a long time
- 26:21and maybe not for everybody. But for me, I mean now I'm 33
- 26:26and I feel like in my 20s I was that chick like I was Psycho I'm
- 26:30still kind of psycho sometimes. I'm not gonna lie but I think
- 26:34it's also like knowing your kind of psycho and being able to like
- 26:37admit it and then you can kind of work on the things that you
- 26:41know you're psycho about and hopefully your significant other
- 26:44will like, whoa. Walk with you through that
- 26:46passive like, you know, taking that out of you.
- 26:49But if you're not worth it to begin with and nobody's going to
- 26:52put that much effort into it. And so, it's a trait that is not
- 26:56cute. It's ugly.
- 26:57I know that. And I think the difference with
- 27:00you though is that like, you've at least kind of your like,
- 27:03aware of it. You're like a, hey, this is
- 27:05something about me that I'm working on and you're working on
- 27:07it, right? And it's like, so I imagine
- 27:09every time you kind of get in that situation you probably
- 27:11like, all right, maybe I'm being a little bit.
- 27:14Crazy right now, maybe I need to I roll this back a bit.
- 27:17Maybe I should just talk to my partner.
- 27:18This doesn't need to be a shouting argument.
- 27:20This could be a conversation, you know, right and stuff like
- 27:24that, you know? Like don't build this scenario
- 27:26up in your head that he's doing all this stuff.
- 27:28You haven't even you know, proven yet which is what I don't
- 27:32know. If it's a woman thing, I don't
- 27:33know. But it is so easy to just like,
- 27:36see like you guys. You look so cute or something
- 27:40and take it to like a level of like they slept together and now
- 27:45they're solving Still I don't even know how it goes from that
- 27:49to that but your head just was like, maybe it's the hormones, I
- 27:52don't know. But I remember, right?
- 27:55I was dating someone one time. And okay, so we'd watched with,
- 28:00basically, this this, we were at University and this other person
- 28:05was like, they wrote like an article in sunlight satirical
- 28:10University magazine. I don't know, whatever.
- 28:13It was a funny article. We both read it.
- 28:15Both laughed about it. We both spoke about it right
- 28:17now. The author happened to be a
- 28:19female. Someone we both knew, right and
- 28:23I knew this girl before the guy I was dating.
- 28:26And so I reached out to this, this girl in messenger and I was
- 28:30just like, oh hey, that was a funny article bubbler, right?
- 28:34That was it, that's literally it.
- 28:38But from that like the girl that was dating at the time, went
- 28:41crazy about it like she just and I shit you not she would not
- 28:46drop that for years Sheena and it and like that was the
- 28:50beginning of of just never trust in me ever.
- 28:53And like it got to a point where and I had to I only realize this
- 28:58afterwards but like, when I was dating her, It was kind of a,
- 29:03like, I got like so paranoid, because she every time we were
- 29:08out walking together, she would go into a mount massive shouting
- 29:12match with me and say, you're looking at these girls.
- 29:14You're looking at this, girl, you're looking at that guy?
- 29:16Oh, no. And in the beginning, I would
- 29:17try to be like, hey, like I'm not and then I would argue with
- 29:22her and be like, I'm not, like, leave it and then I just gave up
- 29:25in the end. Yeah, I literally, yeah, I gave
- 29:28up as I just can't convince you and like, I'm not gonna Waste,
- 29:32any more of my energy trying to do so, and but literally, it
- 29:34created like a complex in my head.
- 29:37Where, every time we were out together, I would think this.
- 29:42I'd feel physically sick. Yeah.
- 29:43No. I would literally like look at
- 29:44the floor and stuff and like it's only like half to having
- 29:50not been together for years and been single for years that I've
- 29:53sort of sat back. And I thought back to those
- 29:56days, I'm on my damn. That was like, really, really
- 30:00bad. Really messed up.
- 30:02Like, I can't be around that again.
- 30:05You know, no, one of my things was definitely like because I
- 30:09always grew up being friends with guys.
- 30:11Like I didn't trust girls girls, or mean, you know?
- 30:14I was heavier growing up and so I had a lot of guy friends not
- 30:18boyfriends, you know? And like, every boyfriend, I
- 30:23would get After High School, they'd be like, oh, not
- 30:26comfortable with my best friend. His name is Kevin and we did, we
- 30:30had like a little fling. And then we were like better as
- 30:33friends and always stayed friends after that.
- 30:36But no guy could like handle me being friends with a guy that I
- 30:40had slept with before and even as much as I would convince them
- 30:44like we literally dated for two months and we were both like
- 30:46screw this. Let's just be friends again they
- 30:49just could not fathom like that, that's something and I don't you
- 30:52know, carry more feelings for it until I got with Earl and he was
- 30:57like now he's friends with the guy and I'm like, this is what
- 31:00I've wanted the whole time, you know, Like, I clearly don't like
- 31:03him like that. I want him in my life because
- 31:05he's my best friend. But but if it were the other
- 31:09shoe on the other foot and he had a girl that he had slept
- 31:12with the, he wanted to be best friends with.
- 31:14I could find that very very hard to deal with I can I can
- 31:18understand that feeling like I felt it before.
- 31:22Yeah I'm gonna pretend like I'm this big mature guy, you know,
- 31:25I've been jealous before in the tile, I've done City and crazy
- 31:28stuff but now I'm at that point where I'm probably more like
- 31:30your husband where I like It would bother me.
- 31:32But I'd be like, you know what? Like I love this girl.
- 31:36I'm just, you know, this is minor whatever and like it comes
- 31:40back to that trusting we were talking about like can you trust
- 31:44your partner? You know that there's never
- 31:46going to be anything with that other guy June and I mean and
- 31:49it's like particularly when you just make things logical and
- 31:53you're like, I'm going to trust this person and I'm going to
- 31:56leave it at that. I'm going to push this to one
- 31:58side and if you look at the other variables like okay so
- 32:00they had a fling when they Were like 17 or whatever like
- 32:04General. I mean like, who cares didn't I
- 32:07mean honestly yeah exactly exactly.
- 32:11I trust this is I would say the most important thing in a
- 32:16relationship above all else. If you appreciate if you can't
- 32:18do that then you don't have a relationship simple.
- 32:21That's what I've always said is like and I tell my kids to I'm
- 32:23like you cannot grow up and be a liar.
- 32:27Like you just can't do it because I'm your mom.
- 32:29And if I taught you that that's Okay, I could not live with
- 32:33myself because it's just a trait that is so unforgivable to me,
- 32:38like to be just a consistent liar.
- 32:40Nobody trusts you and your life is going to suck, you're going
- 32:43to be alone for a long long time because nobody wants that in
- 32:46their life. You know.
- 32:47And trust is built on honesty and so if you can't be honest
- 32:50with the person you're with, what's the point?
- 32:52You know there's yeah, that was the thing about lying as well,
- 32:56is that like, because I learned this, like, I, I must The sort
- 33:02of person that has that very strong I suppose like morals in
- 33:06my life ever since I was very young.
- 33:09You know I really kind of knew the difference between right and
- 33:12wrong and what I mean by that is that like my conscience sits
- 33:16heavy on my shoulders. So if I've done something wrong
- 33:19and I've done some bad stuff in my life, you know, nothing too
- 33:23crazy but you know it's tough where I'm like I regret it and
- 33:26I'm like I shouldn't have done that and I always remember the
- 33:29feed and I had at the time was like This is wrong that what I'm
- 33:33doing right now is wrong and this will sit on my conscience
- 33:36and I'm so happy to say that in the last I'd say ever since I
- 33:40was like a teenager or whatever, II stopped lying, I just did not
- 33:45lie anymore. And I felt like this freedom and
- 33:50I'm a ah, this is nice. This is what like it must feel
- 33:53like to be a good person and you're like because the thing is
- 33:57it's like the Classic Spiderman Spider analogy, you know, you
- 34:01build a website. Of lies.
- 34:03And then you get caught out. You forget the lies that you've
- 34:07made, because you lie so much. This is what Compulsive Liars
- 34:10are like. Yeah, they forget.
- 34:12And then they because they lie so much.
- 34:14They forget themselves. What is the truth?
- 34:16They don't know anymore because they're just almost there
- 34:20blurring the lines between what is real, and what is fake?
- 34:23And it's really messed that it's, and I think it always
- 34:27comes down to laziness, you know, it's much easier to lie
- 34:31and then Just whatever, get out the way, right?
- 34:33But like the worst thing that happened, if you tell the truth
- 34:36is that you're upset someone, right?
- 34:39But they'll always respect you for having told the truth,
- 34:42right? Not, I mean and if you tell the
- 34:45truth, it means that people can trust.
- 34:47You means that people can rely on you.
- 34:50It makes your life easier, you know the relationships.
- 34:53Yeah, like it's just, it's just good all around.
- 34:56Like, and I've always found that generally speaking the harder
- 35:00path in life. Always tends to work out in
- 35:04terms of generating the best value for you.
- 35:07You know what I mean? If you take the easy path in
- 35:09life like short-term gains but long-term losses and vice versa
- 35:15for, you know, you got to put the work in.
- 35:17You gotta not lie. Just tell the truth and it's so
- 35:22much easier. Like, for me, like you said,
- 35:24it's like this freedom of because I've always been kind
- 35:27of, I almost feel like accused of being an open book because
- 35:31Always talked about it. Like it was a bad thing that I
- 35:34just don't have a filter and I will tell you that My kids
- 35:39smeared poop on the wall and tell you.
- 35:41You know that the most embarrassing thing that happened
- 35:43to me when I was two or five or whatever, you know, it's just I
- 35:46don't care because to me that's the way that we build a
- 35:49relationship is like, you know, this about me.
- 35:51I know this about you, I don't feel like you're holding back
- 35:54and same, you know, from me. And so I felt like I was being
- 35:58accused of being, you know, open for a long time.
- 36:01And finally, I'm like, maybe your guys are the ones with the
- 36:04problem is not being open, you know?
- 36:06Because for me, I've Relationships for 10-plus years.
- 36:10I have friends from kindergarten, you know, and
- 36:13stuff like that. Where as I see people that have
- 36:15no relationships that last that long that aren't open with
- 36:19people or are embarrassed of things and I was raised on
- 36:22honestly in a home where they're like, don't let the neighbors
- 36:25know kind of people, you know? And to me I'm just like, fuck
- 36:29that we're going to let everybody know about are you
- 36:31know, because everybody's human we all have mistakes.
- 36:33We all do weird stuff. And like, the more you keep that
- 36:36to yourself the more alone Nobody feels instead of letting
- 36:40it out and somebody else being like, oh crap, I do that.
- 36:43That's weird. But at least I'm not the only
- 36:45one, you know, or whatever. And so I think that's part of
- 36:49like our problem is society. To is just this whole like I
- 36:52want to look good to everybody else and now especially being
- 36:56locked in our houses. We can do that.
- 36:58Like, on Facebook, we can build this little perfect creation
- 37:01while in our home. It's also like just, you know,
- 37:04crumbling down around us. And so I think I don't know
- 37:08about you. But podcasting for me has
- 37:09changed that because I've gotten to meet people, even being
- 37:12locked up. We're still like socializing and
- 37:15not alone, you know. Yeah, no, I completely agree
- 37:19with you. I think the biggest thing that I
- 37:23enjoy about podcasting is just meeting people from around the
- 37:27world, different learning things from different people, helps
- 37:32change my perspective on life, helps me to grow.
- 37:35Yeah I'm getting a lot for me, I enjoy it first and foremost, But
- 37:39yeah, man, I just I could talk to you all day.
- 37:41There's so many things right there.
- 37:42Like for example, what you were saying with, you know, giving
- 37:47information to people like I'm very and I've learned this as
- 37:51I've been grown up. I think this is something I've
- 37:52just learned in my 20s, but like if you get meet those, people
- 37:58that like our asking, you a lot of questions, but they never
- 38:03talk about themselves. I run for the hills with that I
- 38:07don't because I'm Like eight takes a lot for me to trust
- 38:11people. And that's not to say that like,
- 38:13I'm and I'm trusting person, but it's like, you know, I'll be
- 38:17open about things, I'm comfortable being open with.
- 38:20Obviously, I have YouTuber do podcasting, like I share a lot
- 38:23of my life but there's a lot of stuff.
- 38:24I don't share that only very few people on this Earth actually
- 38:30know. And that's because of
- 38:32experiences because things have been used against me and, you
- 38:38know, I think You can, you get a Vibe like a lot of people in
- 38:41life, don't trust their intuition and you absolutely
- 38:43should, if you get a gut feeling, trust your gut feeling,
- 38:46because that person is up to no good.
- 38:49Or if they're someone that's going to screw you over your got
- 38:53a probably tell you before you know the facts of the situation
- 38:57tell you you know it's like for example I was watching this is
- 39:03really off topic but that's good.
- 39:05I don't know I'm having fun here.
- 39:06Yeah I was watching a documentary the other Today
- 39:09about this major fraud that happened in the UK.
- 39:13So we have we also have Who Wants To Be A Millionaire like
- 39:17UK version and it was very popular in the early 2000s,
- 39:20right. And one of the winners was a guy
- 39:24called met major in grow or Charles Ingram something like
- 39:28that. Oh yeah, you know about that?
- 39:30Okay, I've heard of him. So those who don't know, there
- 39:32was a guy who basically went on to the program and got up to a
- 39:38million. In but basically, he scanned it,
- 39:40he committed fraud, hence, major fraud, and the way that he did
- 39:43this, which actually is kind of clever, but it was a kind of
- 39:46stupid is that? Basically, he was obviously in
- 39:50the chair, there was his wife in the audience and then there was
- 39:53another contestant who was sitting in the the closest row I
- 39:58guess to the to the main stage and they devised a system where
- 40:03basically the contestant would cough every time the answer the
- 40:08globe. Yeah, so the guy would go he
- 40:10would go like oh maybe it's Athens but yeah I don't know,
- 40:13then it could be Berlin and the guy would be like and at what
- 40:17happened at one point they got as crazy as like because they
- 40:20got stuck on a, those points in the show, we're like their sit,
- 40:23their plan was kind of failing or like there was an issue and
- 40:26the guy, literally coughed know, at one point it was like, oh no.
- 40:30Oh my God, it was ridiculous. But anyway, the reason I bring
- 40:34this up and I really recommend everyone goes out and checks
- 40:37this documentary out because it's just Fascinating, the
- 40:40reason I brought this up is that when you watch the documentary
- 40:43and you, you talk you listen to all the producers and the floor
- 40:47managers and the people talking about what it was like that day
- 40:51at the very beginning of the show, they knew something was
- 40:54wrong. But before they even knew about
- 40:57the coughing thing or anything, they just had a Vibe.
- 41:01They had they had a feeling something was off and that is
- 41:05what I'm talking about. This idea that you can kind of
- 41:07feel that there's a Problem, like, I don't know, a
- 41:10fluctuation in the energy of the room, a bad Vibe.
- 41:13This is the reason that sometimes when someone walks in
- 41:15a room and the energy changes, that's why.
- 41:18Because we as humans, tap into that, we know we can feel it.
- 41:22You know? I mean, it's like, that's why
- 41:23people say, oh, I got a bad vibe from him.
- 41:25It's not just a random thing that people make up.
- 41:28It's a legitimate thing. Yeah, no, let's go to try and
- 41:32screw you over. You can feel it, it's like
- 41:35literally ingrained it us, so follow it.
- 41:38Yeah. I got to say like, ever since
- 41:40I've tapped into that, and I've just opened myself up to that.
- 41:42It's really helped me with friendships relationships.
- 41:45Steering away from the wrong people, you know, by a bit of a
- 41:50lone wolf these days weirdly enough.
- 41:53Like I grew up as an extrovert and became an introvert, which
- 41:56is, you know, I feel the same way.
- 41:57I'm still extroverted I guess within like, if you get Ever
- 42:02involved in the Discord Community, I can totally like
- 42:05introduce you to a ton of people that are super cool but that's
- 42:08like My extrovert, but I still get to be like an introvert
- 42:11because I'm like, okay, that's my happy part, you know, but
- 42:14like on the inside, sometimes I'm really frustrated but I
- 42:16don't want to like, give that to everybody else because I want
- 42:18to, you know, keep everybody else happy.
- 42:20But I was like, extreme, extrovert.
- 42:23And now I'm like, I don't want to go anywhere.
- 42:25I want in my house and I know it's because I like, also, I'm
- 42:29like I'm not taking for kids anywhere in this world because
- 42:33they act a fool right now. And they don't listen to me, but
- 42:36I am the same. Yeah, I became an introvert.
- 42:39Kind of but it's like the extrovert is still trying to
- 42:41like burst out of me all the time.
- 42:43And I think that's also podcasting has done is allowed
- 42:46my like my, extrovert to get out and then I can go back and be
- 42:50normal and do my normal stuff, or whatever.
- 42:53Let's bring it back to focus thing.
- 42:57Now I just it's just sometimes that I'll have a guest on the
- 42:59show and we go off and so many times.
- 43:01It's so fun. You got it, you got to indulges
- 43:04you got, oh, I love going up, I'm handed.
- 43:05It's hard for me to stay on one topic, actually.
- 43:08Now one of the questions I asked you before, but before we went
- 43:11off on our massive tangent was who are some of the most
- 43:15memorable guest you've had on the show.
- 43:16So, tell us how should I totally forgot.
- 43:19That's why I started talking about being a hairstylist as I
- 43:22was telling that story, I was like, what was his question?
- 43:24What was that was? That was my fault because I knew
- 43:27that you brought up that story because you were leading into
- 43:29it. But then it's always like, you
- 43:31know what? I'll just ask her about this
- 43:33because this is fun. Let's see what?
- 43:34No, I'm glad you did because I was about to be like, what was
- 43:36the original question? I did that so much on a show I
- 43:40was on earlier and I'm like, I need to, I'm so add and stop.
- 43:44I need to start writing people, you know, things down when
- 43:46people ask. So, because I was a hairdresser,
- 43:49I met a client that as she became my OBGYN.
- 43:55So she delivered my last two kids which was crazy and then we
- 44:01had to record it our first episode and it was around the
- 44:05debates between Trump and Biden. So it's the first debate and for
- 44:10some reason that episode got into talking about the George
- 44:13Floyd stuff and but it was like for white people of us, you
- 44:18know, we're all for white people talking about it and Billy my
- 44:21co-host had said something that was kind of like controversial
- 44:25and I was like, okay, let's stop it here.
- 44:27And I'm going to go find someone of color that can be on our next
- 44:31episode to like, but I wanted them to be of color and able to
- 44:36represent that like You know, not like not, I don't know how
- 44:42to make it sound like good but I didn't want it to be like what a
- 44:45racist person would stereotype a person of color.
- 44:49As you know, I wanted to be somebody that was a person of
- 44:52color that had a lot of knowledge of the history behind
- 44:55why they were fighting the BLM stuff and what happened with
- 44:59George Floyd and could represent that and give it a good
- 45:02platform. So I had asked my OB, if she my
- 45:06client Marcia, if she wanted to be on and she was like, oh, Oh
- 45:08no, I have a speech impediment and did it and I don't want to
- 45:12do it and I'm like, no, you don't.
- 45:13But, okay, she goes. Why don't you ask my sister who?
- 45:17I also used to cut her hair, but she moved of California.
- 45:20So I asked her and she's like, I can't do it that night, but ask
- 45:24my other sister Lorna and I was like, yeah, I know.
- 45:29They're big, they're actually they're from the islands.
- 45:32Oh yeah, man, love island people.
- 45:34Yes, like st. Thomas or something like that.
- 45:37But So Lorna is a writer, she's a writer, and California and I
- 45:46lie. She wrote for Get Him to the
- 45:49Greek. For Dexter.
- 45:54She was working on the show All-American, which just got put
- 45:57on Netflix and her husband wasn't her and her husband are
- 46:00in Canada right now because he's shooting.
- 46:02I think he produces the new Star Trek show and so yeah.
- 46:08I was like Oh shit. Oh my God.
- 46:10You know, I've never met this person but I've heard all about
- 46:12her and I'm like oh my God, oh my God.
- 46:14So I just start texting her. She's like the most real person
- 46:17I've ever. She was like well I'm not doing
- 46:19anything now. If you guys want to jump on and
- 46:21I'm like oh shit. Oh my God.
- 46:23Okay and we had like I think we had two or three episodes with
- 46:27her on it because every time she would get on and be two to three
- 46:31hours of us just like getting into it and I was like are you
- 46:34sure you don't want to be a co-host on the show?
- 46:36Because you are so amazing. And I was just like, She was so
- 46:39cool. And like she would talk about
- 46:42stars that you've seen, you know, on TV forever, that she's
- 46:45actually met in real life. And I was just like, ahh.
- 46:48So that was really neat. And she was just so humbled that
- 46:51it made it even neater that I would say was probably, like, my
- 46:55favorite big person we had on and that kind of big but small
- 46:59because nobody really thinks about the writers and producers
- 47:02well, producers more. But I feel like the writers kind
- 47:04of get like, you know, they don't get a whole lot of like
- 47:07credit and Definitely not like a fan base.
- 47:10I don't feel like so and then the second biggest, I would say
- 47:16is recently. We had Lindsey Graham from the
- 47:20wonder--i podcast All American Scandal, the mysterious mr.
- 47:25Epstein. He's did Wicked elections and
- 47:30now he's doing something else. He's big.
- 47:32I mean, he like he had posted on Reddit and ask me anything post.
- 47:38Whatever. And one of the podcast things
- 47:40and he's like 99 million plus downloads.
- 47:43Ask me anything and I was like, oh hell yeah.
- 47:46I'm gonna go on here and just see like and he ended up being
- 47:49pretty cool. It was weird to have him on
- 47:52because he's very much to me. Like he represents a brand
- 47:56right? So he can't he can't speculate a
- 47:59lot on things that mainstream media would deem controversial,
- 48:05right? So he was kind of like having
- 48:06mainstream media there. Which whatever.
- 48:11I mean, we always need like the thing to go against what were,
- 48:14you know, talking about. But I was like, man, I just want
- 48:18you to like, let loose and like, do a what-if with me, just do a
- 48:21what-if like, and like, nobody's listening, you know?
- 48:24But I know that he, you know, has like I said, reputation, do
- 48:27you know, uphold and so, we did an episode on is hate crime,
- 48:32legislation legal, and obviously his stance was of course it is,
- 48:37and it's necessary. Whereas we were debating,
- 48:39whether it goes against free speech and stuff like that.
- 48:43When, you know, you can't really prove a thought is a certain way
- 48:47or not you know. So it was a good episode.
- 48:50But I would say Lauren, I was my favorite, you know, and I look
- 48:54forward to obviously getting more people on but I kind of
- 48:57like meeting like the real people and like recycling
- 49:01guests. Like we have a lot that just
- 49:03will come on a couple times. You know, different topics and
- 49:07stuff and they enjoy it. And To me that's like having a
- 49:10client with hairdressing you know where I'm actually getting
- 49:12to repeat. See them and we keep getting to
- 49:15know each other. So that's what I really like
- 49:17about the community. I wish that the bigger people
- 49:19would come on again and again, but I know they have busy lives
- 49:23and you know, my 50 listeners don't matter.
- 49:29Community voice matters. The community of the thing that
- 49:32bothers me, you know, a lot of people ask me.
- 49:35How many subscribers do you have on YouTube?
- 49:37How many people are listening? Whose it is one bothers me.
- 49:40Who's the biggest person has ever been?
- 49:42Who's the most famous person? Okay.
- 49:44Yeah. I haven't had any celebrities.
- 49:46I had, you know, I haven't had any big personalities but you
- 49:50know what? Like I've had some excellent
- 49:52episodes and great conversations with people and you know what,
- 49:55it's it's not about who's Most it because even if I would have
- 50:00celebrities on the show that doesn't guarantee that the
- 50:02conversations are going to be good.
- 50:04I'll do my very best like much but it was kind of
- 50:06disappointing, that's them. One of them, you will, you're
- 50:09right that some people have these restrictions on what you
- 50:11can ask the. Like I know that if I would have
- 50:14certain people on there on the show there's going to be
- 50:18restrictions as far as what you can ask them.
- 50:20Like I've heard the stories about how like you often have to
- 50:22talk to their PR manager in the pr manager.
- 50:24Be like no you know, you can't ask them about this divorce.
- 50:27They had you And ask him about this thing and it's like, well,
- 50:30what the fuck can I ask him about?
- 50:31Like yeah, whatever comes up in conversation and I know nothing
- 50:35about them. It's just I don't like to do
- 50:37them. No one of the biggest things I
- 50:39do is like, look, I have my questions, I do my research on
- 50:42my guests, but like, you know, I'm hoping that the conversation
- 50:46will go in different directions naturally, because that's the
- 50:48most interesting thing to listen to like when I look back over
- 50:52the 70 episodes I've done, that's correct.
- 50:58It's like wow. But yeah I look back and I think
- 51:01like this was a good episode because we had good chemistry
- 51:05and like yeah, like I know what you mean.
- 51:07Like sometimes you have someone on your like, this will probably
- 51:10be the only time and then you have other people and you're
- 51:12like and it's nothing against that person.
- 51:14It's just that you don't necessarily have like As Much
- 51:17Chemistry or, you know, maybe this is just a one-off and
- 51:20that's all you need and other people.
- 51:22Yeah, you have them on regularly like genuinely, there are people
- 51:25that come on this, show that like I've had them on several
- 51:29times, and I don't even have a script.
- 51:31Like I might drop some points down just in case.
- 51:33But yeah, the time we just sit and we talk and boom.
- 51:36That's two hours already. Nothing.
- 51:39Exactly, exactly. And that's the best thing is
- 51:41when it just like keeps going and like somebody has like,
- 51:44yeah, I'm usually the person that's like, okay guys, I'm the
- 51:47editor. So I also need you guys to stop
- 51:49talking, but let's do a part 2 because this is awesome, but I
- 51:53don't want to edit, you know, three hours of content or
- 51:55whatever. But I love when it goes like
- 51:58That because then it's just like friends hanging out in person
- 52:01you know and you don't have to stop the conversation and like
- 52:04you said you can have them back on and it's not like I gotta
- 52:07come up with, you know what, our topic is going to be.
- 52:09It's literally like say what happened today and then it just
- 52:13goes off on a, you know, whatever.
- 52:16Well one thing I've started to do as well, now which feels
- 52:18weird for me but if the conversation is going well
- 52:21enough, I don't actually end up asking all of my questions.
- 52:25Hmm. Because I think about like Well,
- 52:28my main goal with every episode is the same goal with
- 52:31everything. I do.
- 52:32It's like I want this to be the best possible thing that I can
- 52:35do. Hopefully to Trump everything
- 52:37else I've done before and you know you're not you're not
- 52:39always going to hit a home run but at the same time you could
- 52:43put the maximum amount of effort in you know that for instance I
- 52:46was downloading. This will sound weird but I'm a
- 52:50bit of a 0 U 0 CD guys. So like I was downloading all of
- 52:53my old podcasts onto a hard drive because I just haven't
- 52:57either smart. That's all right.
- 53:00And I was, you know, I was looking through all of them and
- 53:03it was kind of weird feeling because I was like, wow, like it
- 53:06has developed quite a lot. And, and one of the biggest
- 53:08things I noticed is that I've become a lot more confident in
- 53:13terms of how I speak to my guests and how I talk.
- 53:16But another thing is like and I don't like the sound of my own
- 53:19voice. Anyway, Mike, I just hate it but
- 53:21like I found that I can. It's much easier to listen to
- 53:25myself than it was before like for even Little Things.
- 53:28Things like the intro I would do for the bug course that before
- 53:31it was like hello is focused and I'm like oh I'm sure in a year
- 53:40from now. Bobby.
- 53:41Look at what I'm doing now. I'm gonna go cringe.
- 53:43But in that moment you do the best that you can do and you
- 53:47constantly try and improve and like I don't know like I listen
- 53:50back to myself now and it sounds a bit more almost polished a bit
- 53:54more. Like it's like a like an actual
- 53:57show as To just an audio podcast and that is kind of what I'm
- 54:01going for. But yeah, I'm always trying to
- 54:03think, like, I want this to be the best quality, they can
- 54:05possibly be so that if you're sitting listening to this and
- 54:08you're in your car or you're in some job and you know you want
- 54:12to kill an hour, excuse me and you want to like you want some
- 54:16entertainment for an hour or two or you want to like zone out for
- 54:20a bit. I want this to be actually worth
- 54:22tuning into and I'm one of the things I had to do as well.
- 54:26Was like actually take breaks between Podcasts and because I
- 54:30get, you know, I remember because I often will go to read
- 54:33it, you know if I'm empty for guests or you know because like
- 54:37sometimes people reach out and that's happening more and more
- 54:40now. But a lot of the time it'll be
- 54:42like I'll book him for like one month and then you know, they'll
- 54:47be overflowing to the next month and then I'll come back to read
- 54:49it after about two months to be like, hey guys, it's right.
- 54:55But it honestly depends but like that first month in I pretty
- 54:59much did I think I did like 20 podcasts or so, something like
- 55:03that of your own. Yeah everywhere.
- 55:06Wow. Oh, you know, I do podcast
- 55:08appearances as well. That's and I'll get to that.
- 55:12Yeah, I kind of went crazy with it and I was like, yeah, I was
- 55:15like, I can't because I didn't do everything myself as well.
- 55:18Yeah. So I know where you're coming
- 55:20from on that and I was like, oh, I can't do this.
- 55:22I'll actually end up getting sick of a do this as I.
- 55:25Okay, I'll do this for January and then in February, Okay,
- 55:28let's have some days but we don't have podcasts and we relax
- 55:31and we maybe do some other content, right?
- 55:33I did that. And now it's kind of fitting
- 55:36into a bit more of a rhythm it's like okay you know and I
- 55:39honestly think less is more, I genuinely believe in that and I
- 55:42think that like if you could do that, if you can establish that
- 55:46I think your audience appreciates a bit more as well
- 55:48because they look forward to it. Like I've even taken to
- 55:52sometimes on my YouTube Channel having days where I don't really
- 55:55see anything which is really are you are doing it every day.
- 55:58A oh dude. I've been uploading every day on
- 56:01three YouTube channels since Beginning of last year,
- 56:06something like that. Plus live streaming on Twitch
- 56:09plus other stuff. Yeah, that's wow.
- 56:12I'm gonna have to pick your brain about some stuff later.
- 56:15No problem. Yeah, I do.
- 56:16That's crazy. It's not something I planned.
- 56:18It just happened. Being unemployed helps really
- 56:24and having no kids, I would say. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:26Cuz I could, I could edit real quick weren't running around.
- 56:31Yeah. No, I totally get that.
- 56:32I know that commitments do, get in the way of things.
- 56:35So I fully appreciate that, but I think that, like, for me, one
- 56:40of the things I've realized is that you've kind of got to give
- 56:45your audience some breathing space and it's ironic that I
- 56:48said that because I released two videos on my YouTube channel.
- 56:50Today, I'm on the main Channel plus like I did.
- 56:55And as this new YouTube shorts algorithm on YouTube that I've
- 56:58been experimenting with on the second and third channels.
- 57:02And guess what I do is I make Make stuff Tick-Tock, or I clip
- 57:07up stuff from like music videos, I do, or something else right up
- 57:12to about a minute. And I upload it onto Tick, Tock,
- 57:16and sometimes onto Instagram, and then eventually on to these
- 57:20YouTube channels, right? And it's been smashing it.
- 57:24The views have been coming in the subscriber counts going up
- 57:27and everything. So there's something to this
- 57:29YouTube shorts algorithm as if you just like the stories and
- 57:32stuff on Instagram, I feel like I've seen No, YouTube shorts is
- 57:37totally different. I think I mentioned it on the
- 57:39podcast before but if not basically what it is I even
- 57:42doing a YouTube video about it. Actually check out my content.
- 57:51Basically, what it is is it's a separate YouTube algorithm and
- 57:56it's something they're trying to push because obviously every
- 57:58platform has their own equivalent, you know?
- 58:00So Instagram has reels as Facebook, this no Facebook
- 58:04doesn't Everything. Well I have a story.
- 58:06Facebook has stories. Yeah, but that's basically just
- 58:09copy from Instagram and if you can connect them and it's like,
- 58:12for instance, mind is connected. So if I upload onto Instagram,
- 58:16it'll post automatically on Facebook and I decide just don't
- 58:19care about Facebook Stories, because screw Facebook.
- 58:21Yeah, but at the same time this short stick is interesting
- 58:28because it's completely different and YouTube's never
- 58:30really done this before. You know they've constantly
- 58:32changed what they favor like from for a very long time.
- 58:35Ben, hey, your visits need videos need to be 10 minutes for
- 58:38adverse sponsors you know that's the optimum time because then we
- 58:41can put all these ads for out it so that's what you say.
- 58:43Yeah but now they're doing the separate thing and there's not
- 58:49actually that many people doing it.
- 58:52Okay? Interesting enough because I
- 58:53started uploading and I just curiously looked at the hashtag
- 58:57and there was only like 900 thousand videos or something
- 59:01like that or 900 thousand posts at the time.
- 59:03I was like, that seems Markab Lilo.
- 59:06Yeah, YouTube. And it's that maybe.
- 59:08And I think this is only been around since like September.
- 59:12And I've discovered a few things so and I can't speak for
- 59:16everyone here. But what I've discovered in my
- 59:18personal experiments is that music does.
- 59:21Well, if it's covers Originals, no one cares, but covers do well
- 59:28skits in comedy stuff is like hit or miss.
- 59:33My stuff is beginning to pick up the Like the skits is beginning
- 59:36to pick up stuff. I'll know more in the next
- 59:38couple of days, but it's kind of like really hit and miss.
- 59:41I really can't give an exact on that podcast Clips.
- 59:45Generally do very, very well but again, hitting this.
- 59:50Yeah. And also the other thing that
- 59:52works. Oh, yeah, gaming.
- 59:54Did I say gaming, I think it's a gaming gaming Clips, do well.
- 59:57So I've seen like a lot of people do like you to like GTA
- 1:00:00shorts. So be like 20, 30 seconds of
- 1:00:02like if you drive in the car with Mike, Go up to the house
- 1:00:05and do this. This is the clip ends and I'm
- 1:00:08like when I first saw that I was like Ah that's a bit weird but
- 1:00:11it's only 30 seconds but I guess it's kind of cool because it's
- 1:00:14just like a short thing didn't realize that it's a separate
- 1:00:17thing that people are doing on purpose to get loads of views.
- 1:00:21So do you don't pull on the second Channel.
- 1:00:25My goal was to get like 100 subscribers this year or
- 1:00:28something, right? And I started the year with 69th
- 1:00:32nice or yes. And Yeah, it's gone from like 69
- 1:00:36or 70 up to close to 100 now and that's that's the space of like
- 1:00:40a week or so. Wow.
- 1:00:43So there's something to this this shorts algorithm thing but
- 1:00:49you know, it's just a testing thing.
- 1:00:50Like my Approach in general with content creating is to just test
- 1:00:56everything. Just try, you know what I mean?
- 1:00:59Like I used to be really lazy about these things but I don't
- 1:01:01want to spend the time doing the thumbnails, and I don't want to
- 1:01:04spend the time. I'm doing this and screw that
- 1:01:06mentality. Just do it.
- 1:01:08Do the work and see what happens.
- 1:01:10Yeah, no, I agree. I think I see a lot of, well, I
- 1:01:15still had no people to that produce content where they don't
- 1:01:18edit at all, they just scrub the audio and they put it out there
- 1:01:22and it's like to me, that gives me so much anxiety, because the
- 1:01:26way I was taught like, I was taught by my husband who makes
- 1:01:29music as well, and he taught me on Fruity Loops.
- 1:01:33I don't know if you know that program but It's like it makes
- 1:01:37you you can be OCD is strapped on that allocated, so crazy.
- 1:01:43And then I switched audacity which is so much easier but to
- 1:01:49not edit something makes me like have this like because I feel
- 1:01:55like maybe like if you had patreons or something like that,
- 1:01:58they could get the uncensored. Like y'all went off on a tangent
- 1:02:02kind of thing, but if somebody is there too.
- 1:02:05Actually have the content that's labeled you know.
- 1:02:07The title says you're going to talk about this and then you go
- 1:02:12off on a tangent and then you come back it's like you have to
- 1:02:15expect them to stay through the tangent and then hope that you
- 1:02:19come back to the material. I don't know not editing, just
- 1:02:21freaks me out but I saw a lot of people saying they don't edit,
- 1:02:25they don't listen to their own stuff, you know?
- 1:02:27And I'm like how how can you do that?
- 1:02:30Because don't you want to put the most into your work to be
- 1:02:33able to you know, how are To grab people.
- 1:02:36I'm actually one of those people that doesn't generally tend to
- 1:02:38edit so this is going to be interesting.
- 1:02:40Okay, I do it by choice but here's the thing.
- 1:02:44One of the things you mentioned is yeah.
- 1:02:46You it's probably difficult to expect people to stick with the
- 1:02:49video when you're not getting straight to the point.
- 1:02:50I absolutely agree. So what I did for example, I do
- 1:02:54like a vlog Style videos. A lot of the time where I just
- 1:02:58talk to the camera about a subject.
- 1:02:59Right? And in the beginning I remember
- 1:03:01getting hate comments. Sometimes when people are like,
- 1:03:03dude, it took you like four minutes.
- 1:03:05To get to the point room. I wish they wouldn't put it
- 1:03:08inside, be good and generally I do like 10 minute videos live a
- 1:03:13minute video sometimes longer, right?
- 1:03:15So I was like, okay, that's that's a fair criticism.
- 1:03:17Like screw that guy but just because of the way they put it,
- 1:03:21you know. Yeah.
- 1:03:22Yeah. You know respectful.
- 1:03:23Hey great. Thank you.
- 1:03:24If you're not respectful what I love.
- 1:03:29So I was like, okay, no, no used.
- 1:03:31I'll start getting to the point quicker and I try not to go off
- 1:03:34on tangents. Too much unless it's like the
- 1:03:36podcast but even if it's the podcast what I do is I allow the
- 1:03:39tangent and then bring it back. So you noticed I asked you the
- 1:03:43question about the podcast guest again because I knew that there
- 1:03:45would be people listening going, ah, you know, he started to
- 1:03:48question but then we never got back to it.
- 1:03:50Well, we did go back to it. So I was president and thank you
- 1:03:53very much. That's how that's how I approach
- 1:03:55it with with, with editing. Like if there's major issues
- 1:03:59like I had a podcast with a guy, British guy who was in Sweden
- 1:04:03and I appeared on his podcast. Cast and the internet was trash
- 1:04:07for whatever reason, I think it was on his side and the same
- 1:04:10issue occurred when he was on my podcast which meant that I had
- 1:04:15to do to tons of editing and idea.
- 1:04:18I think I did it for like four hours, maybe five hours to fix
- 1:04:23it and even then I didn't get all of them out, but I put it
- 1:04:28together as much as best I could and it was mostly that thing
- 1:04:31work that stops and goes the robot voice.
- 1:04:34Yeah. And so, I did five hours of just
- 1:04:37editing all that crap out. And then I had to do the
- 1:04:40clipping afterwards for my podcast Clips Channel and it's
- 1:04:44like, oh I could just but you have to do it if you don't do
- 1:04:47it. You've just got like an hour or
- 1:04:50two of just that crab and I would say that's quite
- 1:04:53unprofessional to release a video in that way.
- 1:04:56Now, if you're talking just general editing with YouTube
- 1:04:58videos, like, what I mentioned before, these kind of
- 1:05:01Storytelling type Vlogs, right? As long as you don't have too
- 1:05:06much arm in a narang stuff like that.
- 1:05:08Yeah, then it's okay. And that's a reason that I don't
- 1:05:11really edit my videos is because I just talked continuously for
- 1:05:1410 minutes, I don't know. I have this gift that I'm able
- 1:05:17to do that. I understand that.
- 1:05:19Not a lot of people have the ability to do that.
- 1:05:21I know that it's difficult and in the very beginning I was
- 1:05:24guilty of that too. So I'm just very conscientious
- 1:05:28of that. Like if I ever do just stumble
- 1:05:30for ages then I will obviously cut that out.
- 1:05:33Yeah. But for the most part.
- 1:05:35Yeah. I don't I ever need to and it's
- 1:05:37lucky but I think that that's the approach you have to go for
- 1:05:40is like, okay, if I can make my video succinct, you know, I can
- 1:05:44have a rough like I do it. I do the wrestling promo style.
- 1:05:47So what I mean by that is Go out have bullet points.
- 1:05:51Get to the point. ABC Done, Right?
- 1:05:54Gotcha. And if you go off on a tangent,
- 1:05:56that's okay. You go and you bring it back to
- 1:05:59see and you do it like that, right?
- 1:06:01But you have you at least have a little bit of research a little
- 1:06:03bit of planning. So like today for instance, I
- 1:06:06released a video on why I'm never going to get married,
- 1:06:09right? And I thought okay, maybe I can
- 1:06:13write down all the points about what I'm going to cover and then
- 1:06:16I thought you know what I think I've got this.
- 1:06:19I think I I know what I'm going to say so I'm just going to go
- 1:06:23for it and in the end it was okay I went from point to point
- 1:06:26in my mind that I was able to do the project, right?
- 1:06:30But that was lucky normally, I wouldn't do that.
- 1:06:32Normally I would write down at least like five bullet points.
- 1:06:35If it's one of those types of videos and and go for it I think
- 1:06:39it really depends on the video. I think it depends because I
- 1:06:43would say like editing for one person or two people.
- 1:06:48To me, I think I could get away with maybe not editing as much.
- 1:06:52However, we tend to have at least, obviously we have three
- 1:06:56because there's us, but we will always have at least one other
- 1:06:59guests and sometimes too. And we've even had up to like
- 1:07:03six people in the podcast total and so with that, you know, in
- 1:07:07the lag and internet, sometimes people are talking over each
- 1:07:10other and it's just like if I didn't edit, it would be much,
- 1:07:13you know? And so I know like I have to,
- 1:07:17and I guess maybe because I have Of much now I'm like oh this
- 1:07:20person you know, has a space between their words too much.
- 1:07:24So now I have to like Michelle other words together because he
- 1:07:27talks so slow that he's not gonna keep anybody's attention,
- 1:07:30you know, or whatever. Like my dad actually.
- 1:07:33I convinced my dad and his good friend that had always been on
- 1:07:37our podcast as guess. They have a really funny
- 1:07:40rhetoric where they're just like old men, that just like the one
- 1:07:44picks on my dad all the time and I'm like, you guys need your own
- 1:07:46show because it's hilarious, they're just Two old dudes that
- 1:07:49like get on each other's nerves but their friends, you know.
- 1:07:52And but his friend talks like a super Stoner but like spaces and
- 1:08:01spaces and spaces between I swear it's like every single
- 1:08:04word has like a good space between it and I'm like I go
- 1:08:08through and I cut out, like lots of spaces.
- 1:08:11He'll also do the thing where he's like the the the the the
- 1:08:15the Mi gotta go, cut the fourth uzzell.
- 1:08:17Yeah. God, I'm like, why can't?
- 1:08:19I just let it be that because if they ever meet him in person
- 1:08:22he's gonna talk like that, you know.
- 1:08:24But I mean, I don't want to hear a joke though.
- 1:08:27Yeah. That would be annoying to
- 1:08:29listen. Yeah.
- 1:08:31If I get to the point man, say what you're going to say, no, I
- 1:08:33don't wanna hear the five times. So it's a tricky one.
- 1:08:37It's a tricky one. Like Knowing when to do that and
- 1:08:42we're not to like I get it like one of the things I've learned
- 1:08:45with podcasting, you know, with regards to what you were saying
- 1:08:48about kind of taking breaks between each person and allowing
- 1:08:52them to speak. Like, I'd take like natural
- 1:08:54pauses here and there after I've finished speaking, or if I ask a
- 1:08:59question or whatever, like I wait, just one or two seconds
- 1:09:03for that person to finish because you don't know if
- 1:09:04they're going to go off in another thing and I've had hate
- 1:09:07comments where people have been like, why you constantly Of the
- 1:09:10guests. You constantly interrupt them.
- 1:09:11Like, how could you do that? Oh my God, terrible host.
- 1:09:13I'm never going to listen again. And it's like, all right, maybe
- 1:09:18they have a point. I don't know, like I said, I
- 1:09:20still maintain that. I've never been like that, but
- 1:09:25You know I took it to heart and as I'm going to try my best to
- 1:09:28never do that because I understand that that would be
- 1:09:30problematic. And also you know, if you have a
- 1:09:32guest on your show, whole point is you want to hear them speak?
- 1:09:36Yeah. But I think I stand by the idea
- 1:09:39of like a 2 to 3 minute per person back and forth, tends to
- 1:09:43be more interesting than if somebody goes for 15 minutes and
- 1:09:47like nobody else got to say anything.
- 1:09:49Yeah, so I feel like my job on ours.
- 1:09:51Anyways is to constantly kind of be like, hey, okay.
- 1:09:54We're going to what is so and so thank you know, what is this
- 1:09:57person think and just keep it moving especially with that many
- 1:10:01guests. But you know, with a
- 1:10:02back-and-forth between two people, I would think you're
- 1:10:05allowed to cut them off a little bit.
- 1:10:07It's your show, you know, bring them back like you said, your
- 1:10:10dress. Well one of the things the thing
- 1:10:12like II because a lot of the hate comments that I get are
- 1:10:17usually just trash I ignored them, right?
- 1:10:19But every now and again, someone will send something that's
- 1:10:21hateful but at least constructive and there was two
- 1:10:24Parts to what this person said to like.
- 1:10:26That was the first part and I took that and I rolled with it.
- 1:10:29But the other thing that they said was no one wants to listen
- 1:10:32to your voice. No one wants to hear you
- 1:10:34talking. Oh my God, you're so eager
- 1:10:36testicle. Like shut up.
- 1:10:38And I was thinking it's my show. Like, yeah, why don't you shut
- 1:10:41up? They say, if I want to talk on
- 1:10:43my show, I'm gonna talk. Of course, like, its first and
- 1:10:47foremost. It's at least when I'm doing
- 1:10:50these interviews. It is about my guest.
- 1:10:52It's about interviewing my guest and let them speak.
- 1:10:54And blah, blah, blah. But if I want to make a point if
- 1:10:57I want to share a story, you know, like it's a conversation.
- 1:10:59I want to talk to that person and share that story with that
- 1:11:03person, you know. So yeah, it's really loud.
- 1:11:06It's just like, if you were across the table at a lunch or
- 1:11:09something, like you would still be like oh on that note let me,
- 1:11:13you know, or whatever like and so maybe it's seen as cutting it
- 1:11:16off but not really it's just keeping the conversation
- 1:11:19flowing. I don't see it like that.
- 1:11:21But hey, I'm impressed that you get hate mail at all because Is
- 1:11:24Halo, dude? Like I'm like we're gonna hate
- 1:11:27bring the anything. I would just love feedback at
- 1:11:29all, you know, and I think when you first start out, there's
- 1:11:32like such a lack of that, unless you really Target somebody and
- 1:11:36say, Hey, listen to this and tell me what you think, you
- 1:11:38know, it's hard to get people to give you that, like, hardcore,
- 1:11:43like tell me what I'm doing wrong, you know?
- 1:11:45Easiest way is to just well for one, just do this for a while
- 1:11:50and it will happen. Yeah, I do for me, I've just
- 1:11:53been lucky. I've had it since Day one.
- 1:11:57Tick-Tock that place is a hellhole.
- 1:11:59You get plenty of. Hey there any time you try to do
- 1:12:04anything? That's popular trending.
- 1:12:06I'm surprised at your podcast hasn't had time to actually
- 1:12:09considering that it's very topical and into conspiracy and
- 1:12:11stuff but I guess it depends. Are you guys on YouTube you
- 1:12:15posted on YouTube. So I'm I go back and forth with
- 1:12:18YouTube. I have a lot like of people that
- 1:12:21are like, oh I would listen more if I could watch it on YouTube.
- 1:12:24I'm like seriously because For Me podcast, the beauty of it is
- 1:12:28that I can listen to it in my ear and I can be moving around
- 1:12:31and maybe that's the add part of me is like I cannot watch
- 1:12:34something. It is so hard to get me to sit
- 1:12:36down and watch a TV show. I fall asleep, there's just no
- 1:12:39stopping me. Like, I have to be able to
- 1:12:42listen and clean or listen and drive or, you know, like
- 1:12:46something something else has to be going on.
- 1:12:48So I've released two of our episodes on YouTube.
- 1:12:53Again, they're unedited because I Don't really do video editing.
- 1:12:58So that also bothers me. I think like as my OCD situation
- 1:13:02goes, but I'm going to try to get it going a little bit more
- 1:13:05because I know a lot of people do like to watch it.
- 1:13:08I'm gonna, if you don't mind, I'll give you some advice.
- 1:13:11Yes, please, she's based on my own experience, but where we
- 1:13:16originally, when I started this podcast it was just an audio,
- 1:13:22only podcast, but I did upload to Youtube.
- 1:13:24Tube. And within about five or ten
- 1:13:27episodes a few people were saying to be like, hey, why
- 1:13:30don't you do? You know, video one?
- 1:13:32And I thinking like, who cares? Like why do you want to see me?
- 1:13:35Why'd you want to see me about? It's just it's boring, right?
- 1:13:38But I thought okay, more people were saying that maybe I should
- 1:13:41do this. Let's let's you know,
- 1:13:43particularly for on YouTube. YouTube is video content.
- 1:13:46So let's let's try and I started doing it.
- 1:13:50And one of the key things that, that someone said that I think
- 1:13:53is really important, is that It helps with the conversation like
- 1:13:57obviously I know that you obviously do your podcast video
- 1:13:59anyway but it sort of becomes audio afterwards that's the
- 1:14:02important. But obviously if you're having
- 1:14:03that conversation you can see each other hence body language
- 1:14:07or they just helps the conversation.
- 1:14:09So that's true. The big reason why you should do
- 1:14:11it but I suppose a bigger reason why it's worthwhile why it's
- 1:14:15just you know you're available or more platforms.
- 1:14:19Like I've discovered that I'm what I think I'm on like maybe.
- 1:14:25Enter 12 platforms, now, something like that.
- 1:14:27Yeah, and it's interesting where you find people listening to a
- 1:14:31lot. So there's a lot of people
- 1:14:34listening to my podcast on YouTube.
- 1:14:36But then there's, you know, loads of people, it's not
- 1:14:38Spotify Apple podcast, you know, all these different platforms,
- 1:14:43and I don't know, I think, I think it's favored by different
- 1:14:47people. Different places, you know.
- 1:14:48Like, for instance, most of my audience is American, which is
- 1:14:51kind of crazy, and I don't really love British accent.
- 1:14:54So, you care. It could be that it could be
- 1:14:56that but I don't know. I think it might be more to do
- 1:14:58with the guest I've had on the show.
- 1:14:59Have been predominantly American.
- 1:15:01I don't know, I'm just theorizing.
- 1:15:03Yeah, but being basically my point is being available on more
- 1:15:07platforms. I think, just generally, makes
- 1:15:09you more accessible, it allows you to grow your audience more
- 1:15:12and from a marketing perspective, it's much better to
- 1:15:16kind of like have this idea that you're building a brand, you
- 1:15:20know what I mean? So like if like a good way I do,
- 1:15:22what I do now is I dove everyone to my website.
- 1:15:25And I make sure to put every link possible but I have on my
- 1:15:29link so I onto my website so that people can kind of find
- 1:15:33whatever they want. They're so like if they go to
- 1:15:35the podcast page, what you'll see is like that you can listen
- 1:15:38to the podcast on the page if you want.
- 1:15:40But there's a long list of different places to listen to.
- 1:15:43It says are all he's on YouTube, I'll go there.
- 1:15:46Oh, there's a podcast Clips page, I'll go there.
- 1:15:48Oh, it's on Spotify. Great, you know, and that that's
- 1:15:51how you kind of make it more accessible, right?
- 1:15:53So I think it's just Kind of catering to your audience that
- 1:15:57given your audience mortar native's but as far as that grow
- 1:16:00in the audience because you make a very good point, like it's
- 1:16:03generally speaking, you know, for instance, if anyone's
- 1:16:07listening to my podcast, I know for a fact.
- 1:16:09No one is sitting watching it listening to it.
- 1:16:12They might be. I mean, I don't know.
- 1:16:14Like, I do premieres for the video episodes now on YouTube,
- 1:16:17so I'll be in the chat. If anyone wants to talk right
- 1:16:20now, that's cool. But generally speaking, I don't
- 1:16:24expect many people Would it be there, right?
- 1:16:26I expect people were listening to it, you know, when they're on
- 1:16:28the way to work or they're killing an hour at the gym or
- 1:16:31whatever, you know, that's when I expect people, they'll
- 1:16:33probably listen to it right now. Moving on to the final part of
- 1:16:37this, because I've been talking way too long, no podcast Clips,
- 1:16:42I think are probably the best and most valuable part of video
- 1:16:47content for obvious reasons, it shorts, you know, for instance,
- 1:16:51some up, some of my audience didn't even know that I did
- 1:16:53podcast clip. So I started Pushing this idea
- 1:16:56and like, I had people who when I asked them.
- 1:16:58Hey, do you listen to the podcast?
- 1:16:59And people were like, I don't know, it's too long and I'm
- 1:17:01like, listen to the podcast Clips, 8 minutes, 5 minutes,
- 1:17:05that's all. Okay.
- 1:17:06Right. Because I'm doing like the
- 1:17:08little like headliner you know like little things you just put
- 1:17:12on social media where it's like, And the 20 seconds or something
- 1:17:15to kind of draw people in but not like eight minutes.
- 1:17:18That would be cool. I think everything works.
- 1:17:20I think you should try everything like I mentioned the
- 1:17:21YouTube shorts earlier. So if you go on my podcast Clips
- 1:17:24Channel, you get a mixture of clips that are under 60 seconds,
- 1:17:28which is the YouTube shorts algorithm, which would be
- 1:17:31perfect for like Instagram and all those other places I
- 1:17:34suppose. The best thing is to just make
- 1:17:35stuff that you're going to promote the podcast with on all
- 1:17:38social media. Yeah, that's under 60 seconds
- 1:17:41and put it on your Instagram. I'm YouTube everywhere, right?
- 1:17:45But then when you do those longer Clips, put those only put
- 1:17:49those on YouTube. Okay?
- 1:17:50And very them. So like what I'll do?
- 1:17:53Like, for instance, when I click this up later, they'll be a
- 1:17:55mixture of one minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, maybe even
- 1:17:59longer than that, and it's to cater to different members of
- 1:18:02the audience, you know what I mean?
- 1:18:04And I expect, generally speaking that the shorter ones, will
- 1:18:07always be the more watched Clips.
- 1:18:09But I think a lot of people forget that like, I suppose the
- 1:18:12average YouTube video on YouTube ranges anywhere from like 10
- 1:18:16minutes to like 30 minutes and if you like the content creator
- 1:18:19enough, you will stay and watch that video.
- 1:18:21Like there's a guy I discovered recently called, Joshua fluke, I
- 1:18:25keep name-dropping this guy, he doesn't need, he's got like 400,
- 1:18:30give you a cut or something, you know.
- 1:18:32Nah, you're going to sponsor or just fun for you.
- 1:18:36Well, I wish I would love to have him on my show like I've
- 1:18:40but it's not. I don't try by the way, we were
- 1:18:43talking about celebrities earlier.
- 1:18:44I try always reach out to celebrities, but they always are
- 1:18:48me. Always really?
- 1:18:50Yeah. Of course, you know, it's not
- 1:18:51meant to be then, you know. Yeah.
- 1:18:53No, I just wait till they drop in your lap.
- 1:18:56Yeah, I've talked to people before, they'll be like one day,
- 1:18:59they'll be scrambling to get on my show.
- 1:19:01Oh yeah, they'll be begging, you please.
- 1:19:06In three months. I have asked.
- 1:19:09Well, here's the thing. I have a weird feeling That some
- 1:19:12of those people that admit, because here's the thing, it's
- 1:19:14one thing. If you don't see the message, I
- 1:19:15just assume you're busy right, but there's people, I know.
- 1:19:19So I know a few celebrities that I went to night school with
- 1:19:22right? Okay.
- 1:19:23Or I knew around the time that I was a teenager, and I know that
- 1:19:27they see the videos. So, see the posts like it's
- 1:19:30seen, but they just never before responding.
- 1:19:32And I'm, like, I hate that. Yeah, like Judo, I would much
- 1:19:36rather you just turn around and say, do you know what, you're
- 1:19:39too small. I don't want to appear on your
- 1:19:40show on your show or Oh no, thank you Robert.
- 1:19:42He's busy. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:44Like come on man. Like yes.
- 1:19:46Like why do I not even deserve the time?
- 1:19:48It takes to send back like no. Like you could literally just
- 1:19:52say no and you got the time to do it, you know.
- 1:19:55Yeah. But whatever it is what it is
- 1:19:58and like I said before, like I'm more focused on having those
- 1:20:01good discussions haven't because the reality is if you have a
- 1:20:04celebrity on your on your show, I mean you got to promote their
- 1:20:07thing. Like I've had a lot of business
- 1:20:09owners on my Show recently so like First thing that comes into
- 1:20:12my mind is okay, the first thing we've got to talk about is their
- 1:20:15thing is their product and you know like even even today you
- 1:20:18know the first time we spoke about was your podcast and yeah
- 1:20:20obviously you know I'm not under any illusion you know if you
- 1:20:23come on my show you want to promote your stuff.
- 1:20:25That's great. Right.
- 1:20:26I yeah, I do the same one of my other people's shows, of course.
- 1:20:30Yeah, difference for me is that I'm because I'm plugged into
- 1:20:34content creator mode all the time.
- 1:20:35I'm always thinking like, I need to make this entertaining.
- 1:20:38So even if I'm on someone else's show, this needs to be a Good
- 1:20:41conversation that people enjoy so that when they listen to it,
- 1:20:45they'll think hey, you know, I like that.
- 1:20:46Weird British guy, think I'll go listen to his stuff.
- 1:20:49Exactly rather than just being like, hey, come subscribe.
- 1:20:52Hey, listen to my stuff. Like I can't tell you how many
- 1:20:55people reach out to me and just go and just send me links like,
- 1:20:58Hey, listen to this. Hey, do this.
- 1:21:00It's like, yeah. Hey, fuck off.
- 1:21:03Exactly. You don't even know me.
- 1:21:05Like, that's the thing. I was in a lot of those Facebook
- 1:21:08groups that are like people constantly going like Sub listen
- 1:21:12for listen feedback for feedback, rating for rating.
- 1:21:15And I'm like, okay, yeah, it pumps your numbers for like that
- 1:21:18second, but they all go and unsubscribe.
- 1:21:21They'd never listen to your entire thing.
- 1:21:23They're not repeat listeners, you're not organically growing.
- 1:21:27You're literally just doing something that is satisfying to
- 1:21:29you at the moment because you're seeing your numbers go up.
- 1:21:32But when you release your next episode, you're not going to see
- 1:21:35anything from that because you didn't go on and what I like to
- 1:21:38call whore yourself out on these podcasts pages.
- 1:21:41And so I just stopped because I was like, I want to know who is
- 1:21:44actually listening every time. So what I'll do which is
- 1:21:47probably like the reverse of what you're doing is like I'll
- 1:21:51release it like sometimes and just not post on anything.
- 1:21:55And I want to see like who is listening when I don't promote
- 1:21:59it at all and it'll be like 15 or 20 people, but to me I'm
- 1:22:04like, holy shit. One person is listening like
- 1:22:06that's my whole thing is like, I'm cool enough for one person
- 1:22:09to listen to. I don't care if it's 20 or 2000.
- 1:22:13Obviously, I'd like to have more.
- 1:22:14Yeah. But you know, I think more drama
- 1:22:17comes with the more you have obviously, and maybe more
- 1:22:20pressure to. So, I'm okay with like organic
- 1:22:24organically growing and eventually becoming bigger or
- 1:22:27just staying like an indie podcast and satisfying, the
- 1:22:31tinfoil hat people out there, you know, like yeah, I agree
- 1:22:35with you. One of the things that's changed
- 1:22:37for me. As far as my Approach is concern
- 1:22:39is, I don't look at the numbers anymore.
- 1:22:40Like I kind of I look at them that Curiosity and, you know, I
- 1:22:44do the same. As you do a little experiment,
- 1:22:45see, you know, see what will happen, just for shits and
- 1:22:48giggles really, but generally my focus now is about building a
- 1:22:54community of people. So let's when I do my live
- 1:22:57streams, I see people in the live streams that are regulars
- 1:23:01coming back and they like all of the content that I do and I
- 1:23:03might, okay, this is who I need to be appealing to these people.
- 1:23:07I need to be encouraging this community building this
- 1:23:10community, Because got to get you on Discord, man.
- 1:23:13We've got to talk. You need your own Discord
- 1:23:15server, because gonna go on I got sure you do.
- 1:23:18Yeah. Just never used them because
- 1:23:20just I don't know. Here's the thing about me is
- 1:23:24that while I say, all these things about, I'm building this
- 1:23:27like there. For instance, there was someone
- 1:23:31in my live stream the other day. That said, I can't believe you
- 1:23:34don't have more subscribers and I'm like, yeah, I wondered the
- 1:23:36same thing myself. And that it's not that I don't
- 1:23:40try like I really We do say, hey guys, come join the live stream.
- 1:23:44Hey, come join, this Discord, come do this, come do that.
- 1:23:47And the problem with that is that like I think a lot of
- 1:23:51people aren't interested, which is fair, you know, but like
- 1:23:55building this community where people like you and want to
- 1:23:59subscribe to you and want to know, but get the latest updates
- 1:24:02about everything that you do is very difficult when you're
- 1:24:04starting out, because when you're starting out, no one
- 1:24:07cares about you. You're just right.
- 1:24:08And that's one of the reasons why I know My numbers are so low
- 1:24:14is because, you know, it's like you see a content creator and
- 1:24:17your lies and I got 500 Subs. Who cares, right?
- 1:24:20That's the problem because I found in the past couple of
- 1:24:23days, I found that I found one guy who only had like 300
- 1:24:27subscribers, he's been on YouTube for like 6 years but
- 1:24:30he's fantastic. He makes excellent content and I
- 1:24:33reached out to him to get him on my show.
- 1:24:36He's taking a break right now but there's potential that he's
- 1:24:38going to be on the show, right? Exciting.
- 1:24:40And that's the thing like I look at a lot of these people, and
- 1:24:42I'm like this, this is the, the mentality to have.
- 1:24:45It's not about focusing on numbers, it's about making good
- 1:24:49content, making content that will make people want to stay
- 1:24:52and keep coming back and hopefully talk about you.
- 1:24:56Exactly. Yeah.
- 1:24:57Make bring other. All you got check.
- 1:24:59This guy out. Are you could, you know what I
- 1:25:00mean? Like, sometimes people are
- 1:25:01randomly share me for no reason and I might now it's working.
- 1:25:05Yeah, yeah. So now it's all like you said,
- 1:25:08even with like hairdressing and stuff, everything is Word of
- 1:25:11Mouth. Do you always trust somebody,
- 1:25:12you knows word over some advertisement.
- 1:25:16Usually usually it's like if you would go out now and give out
- 1:25:20like a hundred, okay, let's pretend covid isn't a thing and
- 1:25:22you give out like 150 business cards around your local town.
- 1:25:25I wager to people. Maybe 10 best will get in touch.
- 1:25:32Yeah, we'll get in touch with you.
- 1:25:33The most of them will just keep that in their back pocket.
- 1:25:35Never use it again. So it's 100% going to be about
- 1:25:38the word of mouth. It will be like you cut
- 1:25:41someone's hair. Are you do a great job?
- 1:25:42They tell their sister, they tell their brother and then and
- 1:25:45then it builds a network off that and it's just it creates a
- 1:25:47buzz after a while. You know, enough people talking
- 1:25:49about you and then something happens, you know?
- 1:25:52Exactly. And then you're like magical and
- 1:25:55you know, that's the thing like when I look at what I'm doing
- 1:25:58right now like I can't sit here and speculate logo, I reckon
- 1:26:01it'll take this many years, it all this happened, that will
- 1:26:03happen, but when I look at all of the major content creators,
- 1:26:07especially the ones that are doing similar content to myself,
- 1:26:11A lot of the time they'll do it for like a year, two years,
- 1:26:14three years and, you know, they'll get nothing and then
- 1:26:18they blow up. Yeah.
- 1:26:20And I think that's how it's possibly going to go for me.
- 1:26:25I mean, I don't know, I'm a positive guy, you know, I try to
- 1:26:30have a positive outlook in life and say, yeah, it's going to
- 1:26:32happen, it's going to happen. But to be honest, in my mind,
- 1:26:36the biggest thing I want is just to be able to do this for a
- 1:26:38living, you know. Yes, I'm not a set.
- 1:26:41It has, I can live on it. I'll be happy.
- 1:26:44I'm not as bothered about becoming famous really.
- 1:26:47I mean, that would be cool but you know it for me it's more
- 1:26:51about being able to do this for a living because I love doing
- 1:26:53this. I really enjoy doing it, like I
- 1:26:55would love to get paid for it. I was for a while editing for
- 1:26:59other podcasts right? Just to make a little money
- 1:27:01because I'm like let's be real you put money into this that you
- 1:27:05never get back you know like you pay for websites you pay for
- 1:27:09well I don't know. I pay for Zoom you know because
- 1:27:11Only allows so many hours and I mean things build up, you know?
- 1:27:15And you're like, you want statistics from certain sites.
- 1:27:18So the new of course, like upgrade to pay for that and so
- 1:27:21you're just basically putting money out into nowhere.
- 1:27:23So my whole goal is like if I could just make like 50 dollars
- 1:27:26a month, like that would cover, what I'm paying, you know, just
- 1:27:30to even create content at all. But it would be great to be able
- 1:27:36to stay home and like do nothing else.
- 1:27:39But the one thing you really love, you know, No, I don't.
- 1:27:42I don't ever wanna like stop doing hair, but it would be nice
- 1:27:44to have something in between to do, you know?
- 1:27:47And dude, I'm the same with marketing.
- 1:27:49You know, I studied marketing at Uni for three years and you know
- 1:27:53I worked in the field for three years and I've done freelance
- 1:27:55stop. I've got some freelance clients
- 1:27:57to this day. I would like to keep making
- 1:28:01money from that, you know, because it's an easy way to make
- 1:28:03money. And I don't like, I'm not super
- 1:28:06passionate about marketing, but I do like talking about it.
- 1:28:09I find it interesting and I like, obviously, making From it
- 1:28:12because it's like, yeah, I wrote an article on.
- 1:28:14I got paid for it. Great.
- 1:28:15Oh yeah, but yeah, on the side, I think he's just an approach of
- 1:28:20wanting to make money. Like when I look at everything
- 1:28:24that I do in my life, acting music podcasting vlogging
- 1:28:29streaming, like, I just want to be able to make money from all
- 1:28:32of these things and enjoy it, but keep the hustle on because I
- 1:28:36don't know. Like, for me, I like to work.
- 1:28:39I like to earn money and I like to do it.
- 1:28:41Because it's I think work is good for the soul.
- 1:28:43I think it's oh yeah, you know, and I don't know, my personal
- 1:28:46thing is like, never retire, die with your boots trapped on.
- 1:28:49You have that kind of approach and some people call me crazy
- 1:28:53but you know what? Like that to me is just how I
- 1:28:56live my life and what I think is worthwhile but I understand, you
- 1:29:02know, look, I've had I have a someone in my community that
- 1:29:05said to me today, like the message me in the Indians like,
- 1:29:08Christian, you know, you need to take a break, you know.
- 1:29:11I might but I love to do that. It doesn't.
- 1:29:14It doesn't feel like work, you know, it's true.
- 1:29:17You got to you got to take five minutes every now and again but
- 1:29:20you know I mean you get what you put in I think and I do too.
- 1:29:24And I think if you're I mean this is yours, you know, solely
- 1:29:28yours and I think as much as you want to put into it is like you
- 1:29:32said, what you're going to get back out of it.
- 1:29:34I tend to get like I am a control freak, the same like I
- 1:29:39want to do everything for this because This was my idea.
- 1:29:42But then I get to a point where I'm like, okay, I have four
- 1:29:45kids, I have my own business, I'm editing, I'm doing the
- 1:29:48marketing. I'm literally finding guess I'm
- 1:29:50doing the Discord, like, all this stuff.
- 1:29:53What are you guys even fucking doing?
- 1:29:54You know, like and then I'm like, wait, I can't do that.
- 1:29:57Like, I can't take everything and then get pissed off that.
- 1:30:02I took everything because they're not doing anything.
- 1:30:05And I, yeah, just turn around and change, right?
- 1:30:08It's so I think when it's yours alone, It would be I mean I
- 1:30:12would pump as much effort as I'm doing now, right?
- 1:30:15And not get mad at anybody or feel overwhelmed because it's
- 1:30:18mine. But if you have other people
- 1:30:21that aren't, you know, taking leads and stuff.
- 1:30:24It's sometimes they were, like, why am I even doing this?
- 1:30:27Are you know, why don't I just do my own show?
- 1:30:30But again, I'm like, because I don't want to like, disappoint
- 1:30:35people that do like to listen. And I want to keep the content
- 1:30:37great. I could cut out the editing
- 1:30:39completely but then I feel like it would be very Very obvious
- 1:30:42from one show to the next. You know, like that I didn't do
- 1:30:45the work, I usually do. And so instead I just keep being
- 1:30:49like, let's start more podcasts and now I have my dad and his
- 1:30:53friend that I edit and like produce for.
- 1:30:57I think it'd be really cool to have eventually like a podcast
- 1:31:00Network that I was going to say, like it's beginning to sound
- 1:31:03like that's what you're doing, but I don't know the part of
- 1:31:08like the bandwidth and actually being the That puts it out.
- 1:31:12I'm more like, I just want to put my name on all these
- 1:31:14podcasts and like them all have. Like I was telling her last
- 1:31:18night. He was like, well, then you
- 1:31:20would just have everybody under that umbrella.
- 1:31:23And I'm like, no, my whole thing is having peaceful disagreements
- 1:31:27and being respectful to one another and creating like you're
- 1:31:30saying a community. So if there's a podcast that is
- 1:31:32very confrontational and they call people stupid.
- 1:31:35And, you know, they're doing all this stuff, they would not be in
- 1:31:38my podcast know. Yeah, because that's not what I
- 1:31:40want. What content created and he was
- 1:31:43like, well you can't be that picky.
- 1:31:45I'm like oh hell yeah, you can I mean it's your brand, it's your
- 1:31:47name and if I'm going to put my name on something and vouch for
- 1:31:52it, that's going to be something I agree with and I don't like
- 1:31:55people calling people stupid example.
- 1:31:57I and I know this is like maybe a ramble but I'm gonna try to
- 1:32:01keep it short. There's a guy that and podcast
- 1:32:04Discord that I'm in that I love his content.
- 1:32:07For the most part, his whole idea is learning about different
- 1:32:10cultures. For, you know, people from
- 1:32:12different countries and whatnot, and he just talks to those
- 1:32:15people and whatever educating himself.
- 1:32:18Well, he had an opportunity to have this big time flat earther,
- 1:32:23David Wise on that would be so. And yeah, so but to other
- 1:32:29podcasts, he knew of didn't want the guy because I guess the guy
- 1:32:33just like really goes off on a tangent and he makes money off
- 1:32:37of like spreading Flat Earth crap, and this guy doesn't agree
- 1:32:40with it and that it So he had him on and the week leading up,
- 1:32:44they're all like let's have a you know voice chat.
- 1:32:48So we can like come up with points that we're going to like
- 1:32:51you know just pound this guy into the ground and just
- 1:32:53carrier. Right?
- 1:32:54His whole you know, thing and I'm like okay well then you're
- 1:32:58gonna have to be smart because honestly I've looked in the Flat
- 1:33:01Earth of ton I've been in groups of flat-earthers and they are
- 1:33:04not stupid like everybody says they have omelette honestly had
- 1:33:08to do more work that than we have believing in around.
- 1:33:11Because they're trying to dispute this, like very largely
- 1:33:15known thing, you know, and it's science.
- 1:33:18And some like I was interested to see how he was going to go
- 1:33:21about it. Well, he did one of those like
- 1:33:23you're talking about the live YouTube streams or whatever with
- 1:33:27the sky. Wow.
- 1:33:29And so but he puts on like the header and the footer of the
- 1:33:33screen like the flood, the Earth is round, don't be stupid.
- 1:33:37And so, then the conversation below the live.
- 1:33:41Chat is just like him. It's like people that are on his
- 1:33:45side calling flat-earthers idiots.
- 1:33:47The Flat Earth are people that are like, you know, there's a
- 1:33:50ton of them supporting this big guy that has built a following
- 1:33:54and they're under there. Like this guy's not even like
- 1:33:57putting up a fight. Like he doesn't know shit.
- 1:33:59You know, about trying to prove it's around and it was just such
- 1:34:01an angry environment and I was like in the comments like saying
- 1:34:05like God y'all just chill, you know like nobody's stupid, it's
- 1:34:09different, you know, and he was like It's okay, just it's fine.
- 1:34:13And I'm like, okay, this is not fun for me.
- 1:34:14Like, I had to get out of it because I was like, but anyways,
- 1:34:18my whole point is he had a brand of being peaceful and learning
- 1:34:21about people. He had this whole show and
- 1:34:25that's what it was around and he brought this one person on and
- 1:34:28tried to make himself look, smarter or look better than this
- 1:34:31other person. And to me, I don't want to
- 1:34:34listen anymore like because I liked your peaceful nature and
- 1:34:38then you just screwed it up. And now you're going to go back
- 1:34:40to your peaceful. Nature and I don't respect what
- 1:34:43you did on that one freaking episode.
- 1:34:46You like you ruined it. You know and it sucks.
- 1:34:49I hate that. That sometimes like pride gets
- 1:34:51in the way and it just damages your complete thing you've
- 1:34:55built, you know. Yeah, I know, I can, I totally
- 1:34:58agree with you. I think it's highly
- 1:34:59unprofessional to act that way. I mean, maybe it's because I'm a
- 1:35:04marketing guy. Like, I'm always thinking about
- 1:35:06brand and stuff and want some brand.
- 1:35:08But like, for instance, I had someone reach out to me who's
- 1:35:10been on the show before. And she was like hey why don't
- 1:35:13we do a thing? Where we like most people it'd
- 1:35:15be funny on my sorry it's not on brand.
- 1:35:18Also YouTube wouldn't allow it and just in general I don't like
- 1:35:23the idea of just attacking people and making fun of people
- 1:35:25for no reason. But here's the thing, I didn't
- 1:35:28make her feel bad about that and said, oh, you're a bad person
- 1:35:31for thinking that way or or whatever like your thing.
- 1:35:34Yeah, I just keep my opinions to myself and I don't attack other
- 1:35:37people for the way they live their lives.
- 1:35:39And the way they think. And I don't think No one should
- 1:35:42do that. I think it makes you look really
- 1:35:43weak, like, even in that example, that you gave where,
- 1:35:46you know, okay, maybe that flower for his delusional, but
- 1:35:49you know what? Like, talking to him and making
- 1:35:51making a joke about of him and making him feel bad, just makes
- 1:35:54you look 10 times worse. Yes.
- 1:35:57And like you said it, ruins it for you, like one of the things
- 1:35:59I'm big on is always making the show as good as the last time
- 1:36:03and keeping it consistent like if I would suddenly I don't
- 1:36:06know. Just change up the format and
- 1:36:08not bother asking my guests, any questions and interrupt them and
- 1:36:11just talk Incessantly then no one's going to listen to that.
- 1:36:13Like why the hell would you listen to that?
- 1:36:15You know what? If that got more of you like
- 1:36:18that's what I think he did. He got 10,000 views on that one
- 1:36:21video and to me, I'm like, is it worth it?
- 1:36:24Maybe his following thinks. He's awesome because he just
- 1:36:27roasted the sky and they don't believe in a flat Earth but I
- 1:36:31know people like me, like I'm not staying with it and I saw it
- 1:36:34for what it was and you pumped numbers just to get that, you
- 1:36:38know, and then but at the, you know, Bosal of your entire
- 1:36:43brand, you know, that you've built.
- 1:36:45And I'm big on Brands to because honestly, Toni & Guy pounds it
- 1:36:48into your head, you are the brand everywhere, you go.
- 1:36:50You're the brand. You better like represent the
- 1:36:53brand. Go to the grocery store.
- 1:36:54Your hair better look good. You know, like, it's all this
- 1:36:56stuff, but it was a good thing because now I'm like, we have to
- 1:37:00stay with him. The brand.
- 1:37:01That's does not represent the brand, you know.
- 1:37:03And so I get that and I think it's important to be consistent
- 1:37:07and show who you actually are in your content or else.
- 1:37:10Yeah. Just go to do answer your
- 1:37:13question. Well what you were saying that?
- 1:37:15I think it's a two-fold thing. Like yeah you gotta stay on
- 1:37:18brand you got to keep it consistent, but if you do,
- 1:37:20discover you come across something that works really
- 1:37:22well. Like that example you just gave
- 1:37:25I would set up a separate podcast and just and try out the
- 1:37:29new that I mean that's kind of what I've done with this.
- 1:37:31This second Channel and my third channel.
- 1:37:33So like one of the things I did like my second channel was just
- 1:37:36a test channel. It's mostly I just put like
- 1:37:38commentary videos on their occasional gaming stuff but
- 1:37:40basically there's Inconsistent on there which means that can be
- 1:37:44ultimately the shorts Channel right now, as long as they do
- 1:37:48the shorts algorithm that's mostly going to be what I'm
- 1:37:51going to use that for third channel is a mixture of both you
- 1:37:54know and I guess it's coming at it from that experiment or
- 1:37:57scientific mind, but my point is like if you discovered that
- 1:38:02something works for you. Yeah, roll with it.
- 1:38:05But like, I guess you got to look at everything else that
- 1:38:07you're doing. Like the good thing about
- 1:38:08YouTube is you can just continue to set up channels.
- 1:38:11So like, I know mr. Beast as an example has like,
- 1:38:14like 10 channels, and each channel has specific content for
- 1:38:18that one specific Niche, and I agree that you should do that,
- 1:38:22but like, I don't know, I've kind of established my main
- 1:38:25Channel as being like a multi content Channel but at the same
- 1:38:29time I have divided things up and, you know, now the main
- 1:38:33channel is, you know, for podcasts discussion based stuff
- 1:38:37music acting is it, maybe I will To find the future.
- 1:38:42I don't know. I haven't decided but I tried
- 1:38:43pretty diverse. Yeah, it's just because I like
- 1:38:46to create a lot of stuff. That's only reason.
- 1:38:49Yeah. But but this idea of
- 1:38:50diversifying at fervor and putting specific content on
- 1:38:53specific channels, like I I'm always constantly looking under
- 1:38:58that. Like it's like I'm looking in
- 1:39:01it's under review. I'm thinking like maybe maybe,
- 1:39:03maybe not maybe, I don't know. And you know, I think it's good
- 1:39:07to take advice from the people around you.
- 1:39:08Like, I've had people shout to still Z Who have given me advice
- 1:39:12about, you know, or maybe you should try this up a channel, do
- 1:39:16this, do that? And I'm like I'll do it when I
- 1:39:19think it's right. Or if I need to select going
- 1:39:22back to what you were just saying, that guy's identified,
- 1:39:25that he can make a lot of potentially money on doing that
- 1:39:28specific thing. So I would say roll with it,
- 1:39:31but, however, on the flip side of that, if he's doing one thing
- 1:39:35that's like one particular brand and another thing, that's
- 1:39:37another particular brand. I don't think he can do that
- 1:39:39because if his things I'm going to attack people and make loads
- 1:39:43of use out of it. You can't also do a podcast or
- 1:39:46another thing where you're you know really nice and letting
- 1:39:49everyone to be educating everyone and yeah.
- 1:39:52Yeah. I mean culturally diverse.
- 1:39:53It's like no dude. I just and I don't think he
- 1:39:57wants to continue to do that. I think he saw an opportunity
- 1:40:01and he used the guy for his subscribers.
- 1:40:04He noted he trolled. Basically is what he did and he
- 1:40:08got what he deserved really. You know, you got made to look a
- 1:40:10fool of Of exactly except it's like, he has this.
- 1:40:15Like, his little group he's telling him like, oh, you burned
- 1:40:18that guy. And I'm like, so what I did was
- 1:40:20like I was like, Hey, I've had the Flat Earth episode, like
- 1:40:24just chill it in my thing like I need to edit it and it's a great
- 1:40:28conversation. Everybody was peaceful the
- 1:40:30person that doesn't believe in. It was still very respectful and
- 1:40:33didn't even like refer to it as a round earth the entire time.
- 1:40:37He's like, okay on the Flat Earth, you know, or whatever.
- 1:40:40And I was like, Early said on Friday because then I feel like
- 1:40:45I can show him, you know? I was like, listen to this case.
- 1:40:48How you doing Ali? But I wish you would have done
- 1:40:52for him because I don't think you did the homework to give
- 1:40:56this guy credit, you know, for the amount of work that he's
- 1:40:59done. Deeply, you basically just like,
- 1:41:01hey, look over here kid. This is how you really do it.
- 1:41:06This house really does. Like, why can't you just be
- 1:41:09nice? You know, that's what I told him
- 1:41:11after. It.
- 1:41:11I was like, I get not believing in it but I think people that
- 1:41:16call those people. Stupid are actually the stupid
- 1:41:19ones. You know, quote-unquote.
- 1:41:21Because you didn't even give the person a chance you literally
- 1:41:24called him stupid before you knew their background or
- 1:41:27anything. You know.
- 1:41:29I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I've had people in
- 1:41:30the show that I've, you know, personally, disagreed with on
- 1:41:33certain things. But, I always take the lowest
- 1:41:35Peru, Peru approach of just like, just listen because you're
- 1:41:39going to learn a lot whole lot more from them.
- 1:41:41When you make them comfortable and get them in a space you know
- 1:41:45I've done that before and how guests a surprising things that
- 1:41:48I did not know they were going to say because you know I didn't
- 1:41:52you know I maybe I asked him about something else and then
- 1:41:54they started talking about something and I'm like, whoo.
- 1:41:56I'm going to shut up and let them listen.
- 1:41:57Now, yeah, let them talk. Sorry.
- 1:42:00And that's exactly what Louis through does he.
- 1:42:02If you pay attention to his question in, he's kind of poking
- 1:42:06at these parties prodded him. He's like, Okay and like
- 1:42:09eventually he gets what he wants.
- 1:42:11Wants out of them, he gets information, but he doesn't make
- 1:42:13them feel stupid. He doesn't make them feel bad
- 1:42:16about themselves. He accepts them as they are and
- 1:42:18I think that's the sign of a professional broadcaster
- 1:42:22podcaster Creator, whatever. If you're interviewing people,
- 1:42:26you need to accept them as they are and treat them with respect.
- 1:42:30And because otherwise you just look like a you know it's like I
- 1:42:33see so many you know I think the reason one of the another reason
- 1:42:36why I don't like it as well or one reason why I do The style
- 1:42:42that I do is that I've seen so many chat shows over the years
- 1:42:47where the host kind of and maybe it's the showrunners fall, I
- 1:42:50don't know. But like you know they bring on
- 1:42:52this celebrity they got huge celebrity big movie star or
- 1:42:55whatever and you can ask them anything but there are some dumb
- 1:42:59fuck shit. Like I don't know.
- 1:43:01Where was the funniest place you had sex or you know like just
- 1:43:07just silly immature stuff and the whole thing is a joke like
- 1:43:10here's a really good example. Oh, I remember seeing Ryan
- 1:43:13Gosling on, Jimmy Fallon interview.
- 1:43:17Now, sorry to the guys on the podcast and the girls that have
- 1:43:20listened to this and me talk about this before, but it's just
- 1:43:23the best example. I can think of all right, so
- 1:43:25sorry, but yeah, basically Ryan Gosling, fantastic actor, plenty
- 1:43:30of that, he's got a beauty, he's got beautiful dog with him.
- 1:43:32Like there's so many things you can ask him, right?
- 1:43:34Yes, and you just got Jimmy Fallon laughing with his fake,
- 1:43:38laugh and being really annoying and importantly.
- 1:43:41Interrupting, Ryan, Gosling and laughing obnoxiously to the
- 1:43:46point where Ryan's given him a glare, like he's looking at him,
- 1:43:49like, what's wrong with you? Like you're just, you're ruining
- 1:43:52this. Yeah.
- 1:43:54And he'd like, Ryan is professional the whole time.
- 1:43:56Doesn't say anything just continues but you could tell
- 1:43:59it's infuriating him and I just think like man if that was me I
- 1:44:03could have had such a good interview with that guy made him
- 1:44:06feel really comfortable, probably got way more out of him
- 1:44:09than were just idiot who's just like Like, oh my God I'm so glad
- 1:44:16you're like that's literally all it is.
- 1:44:19It's no. Like and you're not giving
- 1:44:22anything to People by doing that.
- 1:44:24Like if you actually ask questions that can help somebody
- 1:44:27in the future like say Ryan Gosling had a drug problem or
- 1:44:31whatever, you know, and you got down to the core of that and he
- 1:44:34actually admitted it. And then you had people that are
- 1:44:37listening that have a drug problem and they see hope in
- 1:44:39this, you know, holy You came like really far from that, like,
- 1:44:43that touches people more than like, oh, where's the coolest
- 1:44:46place you had sex or whatever? Like, okay.
- 1:44:49Yeah, we all have those stories, but they don't really like teach
- 1:44:52us anything other than don't do it in public, or you can get
- 1:44:55arrested or whatever. Like just, it doesn't bring any
- 1:44:59kind of like, substantial content to the world.
- 1:45:02What are you even doing? You know, other than just
- 1:45:04pumping your name out there to me, you know, it's like I have a
- 1:45:07purpose. I'll play devil's advocate for a
- 1:45:09second. Yes, it does.
- 1:45:11Depend on the show. Because like, there are shows
- 1:45:13out there that like, okay, you know what, here's here's a show
- 1:45:17that does it really well? The Graham Norton Show in the
- 1:45:21UK. There's a you familiar with him
- 1:45:24or I'm not now, it doesn't matter.
- 1:45:26Okay, hit, I would argue, he's the probably, the best chat show
- 1:45:29host in the UK because he has huge people.
- 1:45:32Like, every famous actor musician.
- 1:45:35You can think of he has on his show, right?
- 1:45:38And he's able to kind of have these people.
- 1:45:41It's the setup is three celebrities on a sofa.
- 1:45:44It's quite fun because you get really weird matchup.
- 1:45:46Sometimes you get like someone who's only famous in the UK and
- 1:45:49then a huge American actor or something and then like some I
- 1:45:53don't know poet or some shit. Yeah, it's kind of funny, but he
- 1:45:57makes everyone feel special. Everyone feel good about
- 1:46:00themselves and he aches and feel comfortable.
- 1:46:03So he might ask like, I know. So, Ian McKellen, something like
- 1:46:05really serious but then he'll have a bit of fun with him and
- 1:46:09make him feel relaxed. And it's like, you get
- 1:46:11Everything that you want, that Graham is so good at that like
- 1:46:14he just makes you feel special, get some real insight from that
- 1:46:18actor. Like I guess what I'm saying is
- 1:46:20he's appealing to all parts of the audience because our
- 1:46:22audience is like to see the silly stuff and some audiences
- 1:46:25like to see the more serious stuff and you get everything on
- 1:46:30that show and that that for me, like if I was ever to do the
- 1:46:32Christian roof show, that's how I would do it.
- 1:46:35But you have the perfect name for by the way like I was like
- 1:46:40isn't there the famous? What's the Superman guy?
- 1:46:44Christopher, Reeve, okay, for the longest because I would
- 1:46:47always see you on Reddit like posting about looking for guests
- 1:46:51and stuff and I was like what the hell is that, please?
- 1:46:54Please cover my chair. Please know you do a good job of
- 1:46:58putting yourself out there because I know I've seen it
- 1:47:00multiple times and I can't tell if it's like been in different
- 1:47:02places but it made me. Remember your name obviously
- 1:47:05cool. But I kept thinking like what
- 1:47:11Why is it sound so familiar to me?
- 1:47:12His name was like and then I was like oh it's a Superman guy.
- 1:47:16Like it sounds like his name and I could not like get that past.
- 1:47:20I was like I'm gonna have to tell him that.
- 1:47:22I'm sure you hear it all the time, but it's a good name.
- 1:47:25Like to get out there. I'll take, I get everything
- 1:47:27again. Superman Jesus.
- 1:47:30Oh, you look like you look like Jake Gyllenhaal.
- 1:47:32Oh, I'm getting a lot of you look like Justin Trudeau at the
- 1:47:35moment. I'm getting a lot of know.
- 1:47:37I was thinking the guy I wanted to say Ewan McGregor or
- 1:47:42something, but I think I might be wrong because I'm really bad
- 1:47:44at. Hold on, let me look at this the
- 1:47:46first time I've gotten that, I'll take it.
- 1:47:48How do you even spelled it? You and is e wa n and in my book
- 1:47:54is MC let me see if I'm like just talking trash if I know
- 1:47:57what I'm talking about. Yeah, that sticks out of that
- 1:47:59Obi-Wan Kenobi, I'll take that. Oh, wait, that's not yours
- 1:48:02thinking of. I mean, I'll give it to you
- 1:48:05because you were excited about it.
- 1:48:07What is the guy? I've been told Christian Bale,
- 1:48:12been told I look like him. It's another British guy, but
- 1:48:15the British guy and he has Lisa Lynn Murphy.
- 1:48:19Probably thought that as well from peaky.
- 1:48:22Blinders. I don't know.
- 1:48:24I'll figure it out and then it's from like a really old.
- 1:48:26I think it's from, You've Got Mail.
- 1:48:28The guy Tom Hanks. No, I was gonna say I hate Tom
- 1:48:34Hanks don't do that. Why do you hate Tom Hanks?
- 1:48:38I think it's Tom Hanks, You've he has like some weird
- 1:48:42connections to some child sex trafficking stuff.
- 1:48:46Yeah I don't know it definitely improved or not though no but
- 1:48:49it's really really hard too. Disprove it.
- 1:48:54There's a lot going on. No, that is not what I was
- 1:48:56thinking either. Damn, I'll find the guy and I'll
- 1:48:59end up sending it to you. Then we'll have to like put it
- 1:49:01in the show notes. Follow up.
- 1:49:04She found him. But you look like him.
- 1:49:07Okay. Yeah.
- 1:49:07I got told I look like a lot of people and it's like, okay well
- 1:49:11that just means you look like you but little bits of everybody
- 1:49:14else. Nah, it means a lot that other
- 1:49:17people and I'm not unique, you sleep, like famous people
- 1:49:21because I always get like, man, you really look like my cousin's
- 1:49:24girlfriend's ex, you know, like some weird.
- 1:49:27Like I'm like cool. I don't know that person and
- 1:49:30thinks like a case that I've had that in my life.
- 1:49:35Before I remember there was this girl before.
- 1:49:39So my first year university that the year before I had bought my
- 1:49:45heart brokers. First Love was with this girl
- 1:49:47for like three years or something.
- 1:49:49And by the time I started University I'd gotten over her
- 1:49:52for the most part and then we went to some like party at this
- 1:49:56Pub. That was across the road from my
- 1:49:58University and there was a girl there that was like the spitting
- 1:50:03image of my ex-girlfriend. Like it, it was it actually
- 1:50:07freaked me out. Like I was looking at her like
- 1:50:09it's time, I can't be no. No, I don't chant the what but
- 1:50:14she looks she could be like Her twin what I like and I was like,
- 1:50:18I think I'm maybe I'm just seeing it but I still maintain
- 1:50:21it. That girl looked so much like my
- 1:50:22ex's freaky. It does not good.
- 1:50:25Yes. In the universe is like trying
- 1:50:26to mess with you. It's yes, but I found him Hugh
- 1:50:31Grant. Oh, you know, you're a younger
- 1:50:33version of. I guess it's the Four Weddings
- 1:50:38and a funeral phase, isn't it? And he's like, yeah, cool.
- 1:50:42If your eyes, like, something about, like yells eye shape is
- 1:50:45very Much. Maybe he's like a great, great
- 1:50:48uncle or something that you just don't know about wish.
- 1:50:51All right. Just some money here.
- 1:50:52Exactly. Let's move it forward.
- 1:51:00Yeah. So you're from Texas Lone Star
- 1:51:02State. What are the best and worst
- 1:51:04things about Texas. Um, Well, I love Texas.
- 1:51:10I was born and raised here, and literally live like a main
- 1:51:13street over from where I was born and raised.
- 1:51:17So, I've always been here, but never think about leaving, I
- 1:51:20think, because the economy stays pretty well-rounded housing
- 1:51:26prices, although they can get inflated and stuff, they still
- 1:51:30are less than a lot of other places in the United States
- 1:51:32where you would go - like rural places.
- 1:51:36I like the fact that it's a Where I'm at.
- 1:51:39Anyways, in Richardson is pretty heavily diverse.
- 1:51:43You have like Muslims blacks. Mexicans, you know why?
- 1:51:45It's I feel like my kids like a good sense of cultural Unity
- 1:51:51kind of thing. And so I don't know what I
- 1:51:55really like I guess the weather about Texas is good.
- 1:51:58I'm a summer person. I hate cold weather so are
- 1:52:00recent like snowpocalypse kind of crap?
- 1:52:03Has bad. I was model computed.
- 1:52:05It was so stupid. So if I hate Texas for one,
- 1:52:08Thing it's that they weren't prepared for shit like that
- 1:52:10because like actually okay so about Texas, the one thing is
- 1:52:15that nobody knows how to drive if it's raining.
- 1:52:19Or if there's ice it's like their whole world just collapsed
- 1:52:23and like we all lose our minds and you can't go to work.
- 1:52:26You can't go to school like which is ridiculous like drive a
- 1:52:30little slower, but the same way you usually do and you'll be
- 1:52:33fine. But I think, I mean, if I was I
- 1:52:38have really liked Democratic person, I would say like oh it
- 1:52:42sucks because it's really conservative here but it's
- 1:52:45actually like a 50/50 mix. Now I think with the younger and
- 1:52:48older Generations, so they say if it's becoming more and more
- 1:52:52Multicultural, then you're going to have a bit more of a split
- 1:52:54there. Really?
- 1:52:54Because right Multicultural is going to be more liberal.
- 1:52:57Obviously, exactly. Yeah, and we have, I mean,
- 1:53:00california-based of like everybody moved here, like, two
- 1:53:03years ago, California just came over here, so, but I didn't feel
- 1:53:07feel a difference, you know, I feel like everybody in Texas
- 1:53:10tends to be pretty accepting. I'm sure there's like small
- 1:53:13towns that you can go to and find racist a-holes like you can
- 1:53:17anywhere, but I've always had pretty good experiences here.
- 1:53:22So all they really kind of like unique customs, that specific to
- 1:53:26Texas. Now, the reason I ask this
- 1:53:27questions, I was recently watching Joe Rogan's podcast and
- 1:53:31he obviously recently moved from California to Texas and he was
- 1:53:34saying to one of his guests that there's this unique texting.
- 1:53:38Custom that like when you I guess that have a big property
- 1:53:41or land or whatever. Like then people just give you
- 1:53:44guns and he said he had like a 50 guns that people.
- 1:53:46Yeah, that like people just give you guns I guess I'm guessing
- 1:53:50he's got a ranch, something like that but apparently it's a text
- 1:53:53over again. So who knows what?
- 1:53:55You know. It's like they could pay him and
- 1:53:57guns or cows or something. Just because he's famous I'll
- 1:54:01pay you in 1847 S? I don't know.
- 1:54:08No of, I mean we call like soda Coke.
- 1:54:14I know that like a lot of other places they call it pop or soda
- 1:54:20random. Yeah, it is really random but I
- 1:54:24would say I'm a pretty bad example of like a Texan, you
- 1:54:27know? Like a stereotypical.
- 1:54:29I don't have like the southern accent.
- 1:54:31I was very City raised so everything's been pretty.
- 1:54:35I would say pretty much the same as if you were Any other big
- 1:54:38city like Dallas, you know? But to me, it's just the never
- 1:54:43given me a reason to leave. So, I feel like Southern
- 1:54:46Hospitality is something. There's something to be said for
- 1:54:49that. Cool man.
- 1:54:51Awesome. Awesome.
- 1:54:53Okay. This is a bit of a deep
- 1:54:54question. Yes.
- 1:54:56I've been asking a lot of my guests this recently, and it
- 1:54:59always has a fun response. What is the biggest life lesson
- 1:55:05that you've learned so far? Oh my God, feel like I answered
- 1:55:09this in another podcast to and I'm probably going to give a
- 1:55:12different answer. No, I'm probably going to give a
- 1:55:14different answer because I can't remember what I said.
- 1:55:19I would say. Two.
- 1:55:24Acknowledge that things only are happening at that current time
- 1:55:28not to like like something that's so dramatic and so
- 1:55:32painful and so like you can't get through it.
- 1:55:35Your life is over matters so little in like even sometimes a
- 1:55:40week's time but mainly in like five years, ten years like it's
- 1:55:44a story that you tell and sometimes even laugh about but
- 1:55:47it's nothing that it's something that made you grow and become
- 1:55:50who you were, it's not something that was so detrimental that you
- 1:55:54Even if you felt like it want you need to take your life or
- 1:55:57you know, like just completely house yourself or go do drugs or
- 1:56:00do something. Just because it's one thing
- 1:56:02happened. I think even now like being 33,
- 1:56:08I have to sit down and be like, okay, chill out.
- 1:56:11That was just a bad day. I'm not a bad mom.
- 1:56:14I'm you know, like no the house isn't clean but tomorrow, I'll
- 1:56:17clean it or whatever. Like even though it feels like
- 1:56:20my world around me is crumbling and I want to just like I've
- 1:56:23told Earl. Before I'm like I just want I
- 1:56:25might not come back after I go to my clients.
- 1:56:27They're like, that's how I feel. I just want to get out of here,
- 1:56:31but as soon as I have that time away, I'm like, okay.
- 1:56:35And I, you know, can appreciate everything for what it actually
- 1:56:37is. So being able to self-reflect is
- 1:56:40a huge thing to acquire, I think in your life and very important
- 1:56:47because if you can't do that, then you're never going to be
- 1:56:49able to like improve upon who you are and make you know, those
- 1:56:53Changes that are neat need to be made and noticing patterns, I
- 1:56:57would say, is another thing. If things keep happening to you
- 1:57:00the same way the constant in that is you and it hurts to hear
- 1:57:05it, but maybe you need to change yourself, you know.
- 1:57:10Nobody wants to hear that their, the shithead, you know, I don't
- 1:57:13want to. I always think I'm doing great
- 1:57:14things at the time, but looking back, it could have been a very
- 1:57:17bad way to approach a situation and I could have done it
- 1:57:20differently. So being self reflective I think
- 1:57:24in life is, which I guess is being humbled to, you know,
- 1:57:30nobody's impenetrable. We all have our mistakes and
- 1:57:33stuff. So those are my life lessons so
- 1:57:36far. I agree with come back in 20
- 1:57:40years. We'll see if I have better
- 1:57:41answers, right? Yeah.
- 1:57:45We should we draw things to a close for today.
- 1:57:47Do you have any upcoming projects or maybe some final
- 1:57:49thoughts that you'd like to share with us?
- 1:57:53Well, I mean, we're going to keep speculating about all
- 1:57:57different kinds of stuff that's going on.
- 1:57:59I think my main project obviously is to raise human
- 1:58:02beings that are good human beings in this world and not the
- 1:58:06opposite. But I do look forward to like
- 1:58:10bigger things happening with the podcast.
- 1:58:12Like you want for yours, I would love to stay home and, you know,
- 1:58:16do this for a living and be great.
- 1:58:19But mainly I think having in Your instance to like a sense of
- 1:58:24community and providing that for people because a lot of the
- 1:58:28times what we're seeing is what's on social media.
- 1:58:31And I don't know if you watch the social dilemma or not on
- 1:58:34Netflix. Did you know I don't think so.
- 1:58:37Okay. Go watch it because it's pretty
- 1:58:39much kind of what we all know is happening where you have data
- 1:58:42collected about what you click on and all this stuff, right?
- 1:58:45But it goes so deep into it that you've really realized that if
- 1:58:50what triggers you to comment on On something is the opposite of
- 1:58:54what you believe in. That's what you're always going
- 1:58:57to see because they want you to engage.
- 1:59:00So it's not that everybody out there is like that which it
- 1:59:03looks like when you go to your feed.
- 1:59:05It's that Facebook knows you're going to engage with that.
- 1:59:08And so you're seeing this consistent maybe depressing or
- 1:59:12upsetting material, right? And so for me, I had to get off
- 1:59:17of it. I was like, because every time I
- 1:59:19go on Facebook, then I'd make a post.
- 1:59:20Like, are you all crazy? Like We need to unite as one.
- 1:59:24We are dividing and dividing in this is not good.
- 1:59:27And you know, and then I was like, what am I even doing?
- 1:59:29I'm just gonna get off of it because it's depressing, you
- 1:59:31know? And providing a sense of
- 1:59:34community for people is like I always say I'm like I want to
- 1:59:37provide I want to like make a peaceful Cult of people like an
- 1:59:40Earl's always like stop calling it a cult but it is a cult
- 1:59:44because it's like a group and I just wanted all the like hug and
- 1:59:48just be happy with one another and like appreciate each other
- 1:59:51for our are you know things we can provide and you know her the
- 1:59:55good things and not stop focusing on everybody's bad
- 1:59:59things that you can nitpick and be a keyboard Warrior and you
- 2:00:02know, like that's not the purpose of our lives were
- 2:00:04supposed to love one another and take care of each other and help
- 2:00:08in any way we can. You know and maybe not that
- 2:00:11maybe that's a way that you you help people but you don't expect
- 2:00:14money from it if you don't need it, you know what I mean?
- 2:00:17And so I think getting off of Facebook and having a community
- 2:00:21that keeps building On the podcast and stuff and then
- 2:00:23meeting people like you and it's just like this constant like
- 2:00:27pile up. And So eventually, I'll have my
- 2:00:28peaceful cold and But I think that's my goal is just like I
- 2:00:34want to do way more good than I do bad like in the end.
- 2:00:40So awesome. Well listen.
- 2:00:42It's been an absolute pleasure. Having you on the show on a say
- 2:00:45a massive. Thank you.
