- 0:02Speaker 1: It's here.
- 0:03Speaker 2: It's World Series week. World Series week has arrived. We
- 0:07Speaker 2: have a few days to talk about it.
- 0:09Speaker 3: I know that layoff is gonna wear it.
- 0:10Speaker 4: Man, there's three days for the Blue Jays and the
- 0:13Speaker 4: Dodgers had like a week, so both you know what,
- 0:15Speaker 4: they're not even gonna play the games. They're just gonna forfeit,
- 0:17Speaker 4: both of them because they had too much time off.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Todd because you.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Know, too much time off is just you know, the
- 0:22Speaker 4: enemy of all the good teams. Only when they lose, though,
- 0:25Speaker 4: only when they lose though.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Good point well taken.
- 0:30Speaker 1: But they both have layoffs, That's what I'm saying.
- 0:33Speaker 4: So there's neither team gonna play with the excuse out.
- 0:35Speaker 4: They can't throw the excuse out. That's what's funny about.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Should we be taking the unders?
- 0:39Speaker 3: No, we should be taking like neither team is gonna win.
- 0:42Speaker 4: They're just gonna tie every game because they're both had
- 0:44Speaker 4: too much rest. So maybe by game four they'll be
- 0:46Speaker 4: able to actually win. Someone choose a winner.
- 0:49Speaker 2: That's all gone now, well not all gone, but Dodgers,
- 0:53Speaker 2: you know, it's it's crazy to think about this. Top
- 0:55Speaker 2: By the Dodgers were a wild card team. They don't
- 0:58Speaker 2: feel they in the division. No, no, but they were
- 1:01Speaker 2: in the wildcard round. Sorry, sorry, they were in the
- 1:03Speaker 2: wildcard round, right, they were not a by team because
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm thinking, I'm like, oh, two buy teams made it again.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Like last year, I was like, no, no, no, wait, I
- 1:10Speaker 1: forgot it.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Basically had the Reds. Sorry, Tod, That's.
- 1:16Speaker 6: All right, listen, you're just speaking facts right now. That's
- 1:18Speaker 6: all yeah. Well, let's do this.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Let's let's get right into the aftermath of both what
- 1:25Speaker 2: happened in Game seven, postgame quote, the whole deal. Let's
- 1:30Speaker 2: rewrack it. We did thirty minutes on the postgame show
- 1:32Speaker 2: last night. Let's do a little more right now.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Let's charge.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Let's charge about.
- 1:39Speaker 1: All right, we're charging baby.
- 1:42Speaker 2: First off, we were on at the end of the
- 1:46Speaker 2: postgame show with the Dan Wilson line and it almost
- 1:51Speaker 2: seemed fake because we just had it from like a reporter,
- 1:54Speaker 2: was a direct quote, and there are actually some replies
- 1:56Speaker 2: like is this the real quote that he said? And
- 1:58Speaker 2: then he did multiple inner news after that and used
- 2:01Speaker 2: the same word over and over again, which we just
- 2:03Speaker 2: joked about.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Pivot man.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Basically, it's the guy you're trying to get. They used
- 2:08Speaker 4: to call him set up guys. He used to call
- 2:10Speaker 4: them different things. Apparently that's the vernacular they use in Seattle,
- 2:13Speaker 4: but basically means how you're going to get to your
- 2:16Speaker 4: closer and to me, I just don't know.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Here.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Here's the thing for me. If you look at it,
- 2:21Speaker 4: Todd and you used to look, you're in the seventh inning.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:23Speaker 4: We talked about this last night. But if Kirby, who
- 2:26Speaker 4: was absolutely shoving, goes one more inning, then you're in
- 2:30Speaker 4: through the fifth, okay, and then you can use WU
- 2:32Speaker 4: for six seven. Then Moon New was eight nine. It
- 2:34Speaker 4: didn't happen. He went after four, he went, He went
- 2:36Speaker 4: early and got WU two solid innings, lead off walk
- 2:38Speaker 4: base his.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Sack butt second and third.
- 2:41Speaker 4: You can kind of see this coming after the walk then,
- 2:43Speaker 4: you know, so you're like, all right, we got to
- 2:45Speaker 4: get moon news.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Maybe you have two people over at the same time.
- 2:47Speaker 4: But the key for me is where were you in
- 2:49Speaker 4: the lineup? You were at the top of the lineup, right,
- 2:52Speaker 4: So you need to have your best guy, not your guy.
- 2:54Speaker 4: If Bizardo was your best guy, he would have been
- 2:57Speaker 4: their closer. Munas was unbelievable and his slider is one
- 2:59Speaker 4: of the best bitch ever in base second best pitch
- 3:02Speaker 4: in baseball behind Scoople's change up the whole year. So
- 3:05Speaker 4: you use him to get through the seventh, use him
- 3:07Speaker 4: to get through the eighth when you're probably gonna get
- 3:10Speaker 4: Vlad and three, four, five ish in the middle line,
- 3:12Speaker 4: and then by the time you get to the ninth,
- 3:14Speaker 4: you're at the bottom of the order. Use Gabe's fire,
- 3:16Speaker 4: use Matt brash Us bizarreo. Then you have multiple options. Instead,
- 3:19Speaker 4: he was playing the standard game, which has kind of
- 3:22Speaker 4: gone out the window at this point in baseball. You
- 3:24Speaker 4: just got to get through the toughest point. And to
- 3:26Speaker 4: me and everyone's saying it, that was the save. That's
- 3:28Speaker 4: seventh and eighth inning when you were gonna get Vlad's
- 3:31Speaker 4: last a bat and all that, he didn't do it and.
- 3:35Speaker 3: They lost.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think when you're talking about pivot, it's
- 3:42Speaker 6: the in between guy. You know, it's the guy that
- 3:44Speaker 6: you try pivoting to get to your better pitcher. So
- 3:48Speaker 6: and I think the focus is here. Listen, it's winner
- 3:52Speaker 6: go home. You got to put your best people right away.
- 3:56Speaker 6: You can't live to see another day tomorrow without throwing
- 3:59Speaker 6: who you think is the best possibility, and if you
- 4:02Speaker 6: have to throw him in the fifth inn he throw
- 4:03Speaker 6: him in the fifth inning and hope for the best.
- 4:05Speaker 6: As the game went on. He didn't throw much. Munos
- 4:09Speaker 6: didn't throw much at all in this series. And you know,
- 4:12Speaker 6: he was he was perfect, he was hot, he was
- 4:14Speaker 6: ready to go, and it just didn't work out. You know,
- 4:18Speaker 6: a lot of could have, should have would as but
- 4:20Speaker 6: it just seemed like the logical thing to do.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Put him in there.
- 4:23Speaker 6: If he's got to go two innings, if he's got
- 4:25Speaker 6: to go three innings, whatever it was. It was just
- 4:27Speaker 6: an opportunity to get that shut down with second and third.
- 4:31Speaker 5: He's a strikeout pitcher, he's a guy that gets out.
- 4:35Speaker 6: It just didn't work out, man, And now you're sitting
- 4:37Speaker 6: back on the flight home, like, h Man, what did
- 4:41Speaker 6: we do wrong? And I think that was one position
- 4:43Speaker 6: where they might have, you know, might have done better.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You know, Dan Wilson said that he was in that
- 4:51Speaker 2: role for them all season. Cool June twentieth, May tenth,
- 4:58Speaker 2: July eighteenth is October twentieth.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Great.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You don't play the game the same way.
- 5:03Speaker 4: You don't changes, especially in a game seven, you play
- 5:06Speaker 4: it backwards. Yeah, you've got to look at the lineup
- 5:08Speaker 4: and where they are in the lineup. And this is
- 5:09Speaker 4: what's again, this is when you talk to managers. It
- 5:11Speaker 4: gets going fast and you kind of lose, but you
- 5:14Speaker 4: have to you have to be so forward thinking as
- 5:16Speaker 4: a manager. And this is where I think Dan Wilson
- 5:20Speaker 4: got a little bit.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It went so.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Fast on him in that in that game, Brian was cruising.
- 5:24Speaker 4: He thought, oh man, we can get him there one
- 5:26Speaker 4: more than we have Munias for the eighth to ninth.
- 5:27Speaker 4: But as soon as that first guy gets on, you
- 5:29Speaker 4: got to get Munio's up. And it's easy to say it,
- 5:31Speaker 4: say that from sitting here, but listen, it's the way
- 5:34Speaker 4: the game is played.
- 5:37Speaker 2: And had some good moments in the postseason, Todd father,
- 5:41Speaker 2: but I mean Detroit got to him in the one game.
- 5:46Speaker 3: How much he's pitched the James Matt Braush Munya's Todd.
- 5:49Speaker 3: You talk about ms He threw two innings.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And they saw Bizarto four times, including the to two
- 5:57Speaker 2: inning appearance.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yes, I mean they.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Got before right game sixty through two innings.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Top either you see the same guy enough, things are
- 6:06Speaker 2: going to start to change. And for as good as
- 6:08Speaker 2: he was during the season, for them that dude's stuff
- 6:11Speaker 2: is not Andres Munos.
- 6:15Speaker 5: No and three run homer is a huge backbreaker. Two.
- 6:19Speaker 6: So, and you're sitting there, if you're in, if you're
- 6:21Speaker 6: a defender, if you're in the infield, and you see
- 6:24Speaker 6: you don't see Muno's coming out, like all right, well, okay,
- 6:28Speaker 6: I know this is game seven here, you know, like
- 6:31Speaker 6: you kind of second guess a little bit as a fielder,
- 6:33Speaker 6: and you hope for the best and you hope that
- 6:35Speaker 6: he does the job. And man, my goodness, it must
- 6:39Speaker 6: have been so electric last night you saw Bautista in
- 6:41Speaker 6: the suite.
- 6:42Speaker 5: That was another big moment for Toronto. And now look
- 6:45Speaker 5: what happens.
- 6:46Speaker 6: They're going to the World Series and it's gonna be
- 6:48Speaker 6: a fantastic World Series in my opinion too.

- 7:59Speaker 2: A block ink brand is a cash appot app slash
- 8:01Speaker 2: legal slash podcast for full disclosures.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Two innings when you go through two innings in seven games,
- 8:07Speaker 3: two innings. Now the games didn't dictate it sometimes, but
- 8:09Speaker 3: he threw two innings and something. He couldn't have given
- 8:11Speaker 3: you two innings in that game.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I mean, he couldn't have given you three.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Innings in that game.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I don't know, at least six outs.
- 8:19Speaker 2: And then you worry about where you're at at that point,
- 8:22Speaker 2: with where you are in the lineup. It just it's
- 8:25Speaker 2: really hard to fathom. I remember talking about it last night.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Then we hear the postgame sound which actually have let's
- 8:31Speaker 2: let's play it from Dan Wilson because what's happening now
- 8:34Speaker 2: in Seattle is if you don't go on social media,
- 8:38Speaker 2: if you're anything connected to the Mariners right now, because
- 8:40Speaker 2: they're losing their minds. They have never been to the
- 8:42Speaker 2: World Series as a fan base, and they felt like
- 8:45Speaker 2: they were right there and one.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Boneheaded decision costs them.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Bone headed.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It's very stupid, it's very boneheaded.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I would have known that far.
- 8:54Speaker 3: That's a little harsh guy.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I would say, it's a questionable decision, and it's very
- 8:57Speaker 4: easy to second guess because but it's it's it's a
- 9:01Speaker 4: boneheaded is is.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Kind of harsh.
- 9:03Speaker 4: So, Scott, I know how much you love the Marriners,
- 9:05Speaker 4: since you pick him to win the World Series or
- 9:07Speaker 4: I love the Marins. Like the guy who screamed when
- 9:11Speaker 4: Brian will was talking, that was you last night when
- 9:13Speaker 4: the Mariners lost.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I understand it. A boneheaded is harsh, there's a questionable decision.
- 9:17Speaker 2: All right, let's play some Dan Wilson post game sound
- 9:20Speaker 2: and see if this made Mariners fans feel better on
- 9:23Speaker 2: the accountability side.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I mean, Brian was soon in ballshot.
- 9:27Speaker 8: You know, first of all, George I thought football excellent,
- 9:30Speaker 8: and then Brian picked up right where George left off,
- 9:32Speaker 8: and and uh, you know, gives it.
- 9:35Speaker 5: A good spot to be in.
- 9:36Speaker 4: And and you know, after the walk, you know, hoping
- 9:39Speaker 4: to get the ground ball, which we.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Did, but it just found a hole.
- 9:43Speaker 8: And then you know we knew and thens is good
- 9:45Speaker 8: a bunt there, And and you know, Bizarto has been
- 9:48Speaker 8: the guy that's that's gotten us through those situations, those
- 9:50Speaker 8: tight ones, especially in the pivot role, and you know
- 9:53Speaker 8: that's that's where we were going at that point.
- 9:55Speaker 3: How much did you consider going to Munnos? And why
- 9:58Speaker 3: did you like Bizaro better than Munos?
- 9:59Speaker 8: And as tuition, well, I mean, I think, like we said,
- 10:02Speaker 8: Zarto has been doing it all season long, and it's
- 10:04Speaker 8: been so consistent at it, and he's done such a
- 10:07Speaker 8: good job all year, and you know, felt really comfortable
- 10:12Speaker 8: with him out there, the way he's been throwing the ball.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Especially in the series, and and you know it was
- 10:17Speaker 4: a good spot form.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Mariners fans don't feel good about that answer. Does he
- 10:25Speaker 2: say that or does he say, hey, I made the
- 10:27Speaker 2: wrong move?
- 10:28Speaker 1: You can't say.
- 10:28Speaker 3: No manager ever says that.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Why they don't, but it was it's so obvious, like oops,
- 10:34Speaker 2: A lot of Mariners fans wanted accountability. Hey made the
- 10:39Speaker 2: wrong move. My closer's got to be in there in
- 10:41Speaker 2: that moment.
- 10:42Speaker 1: We messed up. That's on me.
- 10:45Speaker 2: This team should be in the World Series right now.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Players do it actually frequent?
- 10:48Speaker 4: Then here here's the thing. A lot of managers managed
- 10:51Speaker 4: to the questions after the game nowadays. And if the
- 10:54Speaker 4: same brings Hi Munos, the springer still goes deep, then
- 10:56Speaker 4: at least he can.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Say, hey, I have my best guy out the best
- 10:58Speaker 2: guy out there got the oh well, then we.
- 11:01Speaker 6: All say, oh well, it's it's the decisions you don't
- 11:04Speaker 6: make that will haunt you more than the decisions you
- 11:08Speaker 6: do make in those situations. So for me, you bring
- 11:12Speaker 6: them in. It's the best decision and the decision you
- 11:15Speaker 6: make instead of sitting there like, uh, we're good, we're
- 11:18Speaker 6: gonna pump his art. Oh in, I'm not gonna put
- 11:20Speaker 6: him there, and now the haunt will come back now
- 11:23Speaker 6: because it's a decision you did not make to do.
- 11:27Speaker 2: In my opinion, Yeah, I mean, it's just like when
- 11:31Speaker 2: a pitcher makes a great pitch and a hitter still
- 11:33Speaker 2: goes deep off them or gets a big knock. You're like,
- 11:36Speaker 2: did nothing wrong there, great pitch just got beat. M's
- 11:40Speaker 2: fans feel like this was their shot.
- 11:42Speaker 3: There was a lot of There was a lot of
- 11:46Speaker 3: emotion too after that. I mean, you want to hear it.
- 11:49Speaker 4: We have it crying. Both teams are crying. This is
- 11:51Speaker 4: like Todd when Todd works the Little League World Series. Man,
- 11:54Speaker 4: after every game, no teams are crying. It was like,
- 11:56Speaker 4: that's how much it's meant to these guys. I mean,
- 11:58Speaker 4: like the Little League World Series, how much it means
- 11:59Speaker 4: to those teams.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I mean, this is this is how much both teams
- 12:02Speaker 3: were head guys with tears in their eyes. Was unbelievable.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I was.
- 12:07Speaker 1: You want to hear the scream.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Sure it is. It is Halloween, so might as well
- 12:13Speaker 5: that's true.
- 12:13Speaker 2: We're almost there, ten days away, all right here, it is.
- 12:18Speaker 5: What ultimately, do you feel like the legacy of this
- 12:20Speaker 5: team is going to be having gone further than any
- 12:23Speaker 5: other team in franchise history? That I mean legacy is
- 12:31Speaker 5: No one's really satisfied or happy with this.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I think.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Apparently that was Julio Rodriguez, which, honestly, if I'm an
- 12:40Speaker 2: MS fan, I'm obsessed with that one sounds it means
- 12:44Speaker 2: this dude is going to spend the next ten years
- 12:46Speaker 2: in his contract or whatever it is.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm trying to do more of that.
- 12:50Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It wasn't on him.
- 12:51Speaker 4: It's amazing they haven't been to the World Series. I mean,
- 12:53Speaker 4: he had a great game last night was the last, right,
- 12:56Speaker 4: But the fact they have never been to a World Series.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Is still it's it's insaneity to me.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Nineteen seventy seven. It's the only team that's been this
- 13:04Speaker 2: deep into their history.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Team remember they never went to I mean that's playing
- 13:07Speaker 3: right now.
- 13:07Speaker 2: But even in sports, there's a bigger stat about it.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Did you see that one?
- 13:11Speaker 3: Oh? Really?
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I can pull it up for you, give me
- 13:13Speaker 1: like three seconds.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Is this the new like? Is this like the new
- 13:17Speaker 6: curse of the Bambino thing. They're gonna always be close
- 13:20Speaker 6: enough and then never get there or is this just
- 13:23Speaker 6: bad luck?
- 13:23Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 13:25Speaker 2: This is about as close as you can get, so
- 13:27Speaker 2: I'll give you this on the way out. This will
- 13:29Speaker 2: be the forty eighth World Series since the Mariners began
- 13:33Speaker 2: play in nineteen seventy seven. No other MLB, NBA, NFL,
- 13:38Speaker 2: or NHL franchise all time has gone that long to
- 13:41Speaker 2: begin a franchise history without reaching the championship round while
- 13:45Speaker 2: remaining in the same city.
- 13:47Speaker 1: It's a mouthful, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Let's also let's also not forget the Mariners. Yes, they
- 13:51Speaker 4: did lose, but the Blue Jays also won this game.
- 13:53Speaker 4: They got big hits when they had Yeah, they can't.
- 13:55Speaker 4: They lost the first two games at home, went to
- 13:57Speaker 4: Seattle one to two, and then came back and won
- 13:59Speaker 4: two games they had win. So let's also give Toronto
- 14:02Speaker 4: some props here.
- 14:03Speaker 1: We did twenty out of the thirty minutes last I know.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I'm just saying, but let's not forget.
- 14:06Speaker 4: As sad as it was for the Mariner fans, and
- 14:10Speaker 4: I feel for your Mariner fans, let's also remember the
- 14:13Speaker 4: Blue Jays are a team that.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Are moving on.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yes, they deserved it.
- 14:16Speaker 3: They deserve it. They played awesome.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we just wanted to kind of close the book
- 14:19Speaker 2: on what happened there with that game and felt like
- 14:21Speaker 2: that was the big moment that people are freaking out
- 14:23Speaker 2: about online in Seattle. By far, funniest moment last night
- 14:28Speaker 2: on our post game show was when we started talking
- 14:30Speaker 2: about Josh Naylor Todd father, have you ever seen something
- 14:33Speaker 2: like that? And would you die for your team in
- 14:35Speaker 2: Game seven like Josh Naylor almost did when he jumped
- 14:38Speaker 2: into that baseball early on and got the interference.
- 14:42Speaker 6: So watching on TV, like, oh man, this is such
- 14:44Speaker 6: a smart play. You know, you just keep running straight.
- 14:46Speaker 6: But then you saw the replay, It's like, oh man,
- 14:49Speaker 6: that was that was tough. You know, jumping in the air,
- 14:53Speaker 6: like everybody did the right thing. You throw the ball
- 14:56Speaker 6: directly at the runner if he's not gonna flide hits
- 14:59Speaker 6: him in the back of the I had.
- 15:00Speaker 5: It was kind of it was kind of.
- 15:01Speaker 6: A boneheaded play, but you know, he's the type of person,
- 15:05Speaker 6: you know, to do a little magic and almost got
- 15:08Speaker 6: away with it.
- 15:08Speaker 5: So I've never seen that before.
- 15:11Speaker 6: I've seen guys get hit, but I've never seen somebody
- 15:14Speaker 6: jump high in the air to try and knock the
- 15:16Speaker 6: ball down.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Inadverted.
- 15:17Speaker 3: It looks like aj last night. I was not in
- 15:20Speaker 3: inverted by the way. That was one. He knew exactly
- 15:23Speaker 3: what he was doing, jumping, And I don't hate him
- 15:24Speaker 3: for it. I actually I kind of dig it.
- 15:27Speaker 4: I kind of dig it a little bit because, yeah,
- 15:29Speaker 4: I mean, why not he's trying.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Maybe he gets away with it.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It wasn't on your checklist. You didn't do that.
- 15:33Speaker 4: He didn't have that one coming, didn't see that one coming.
- 15:36Speaker 4: But Josh Taylor, I tipped my cap to you, man, Todd.
- 15:38Speaker 4: It's trying to do anything to win for your team.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Bro.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Shout out to Don maddingly going to his first World
- 15:44Speaker 2: Series forty six years in pro ball.
- 15:46Speaker 3: In some it's a shame he never got to go
- 15:48Speaker 3: with the Yankees.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I know, but look at that smile, Like dude, half
- 15:53Speaker 2: a century almost in the sport, and now he gets
- 15:56Speaker 2: to experience the World Series as a coach on the
- 15:59Speaker 2: Blue Jayson A super cool Todd father.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Have you come across Donnie, I have, I have.
- 16:04Speaker 6: He doesn't forget a thing either, man, I great guy.
- 16:07Speaker 6: To talk to, great guy to be around. He's a
- 16:10Speaker 6: baseball lifer and uh, you know, from the time I played,
- 16:15Speaker 6: he was really great to talk to. Yankee lore anything
- 16:18Speaker 6: you could possibly think of. And you can see that
- 16:21Speaker 6: pretty genuine. There was a lot of genuine and real
- 16:24Speaker 6: and raw emotion during this time, and you know, it's exciting.
- 16:28Speaker 6: It's very exciting for baseball and some people. And I
- 16:30Speaker 6: thought that was a pretty cool moment.
- 16:34Speaker 1: And there's Mark Fines.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I know Yankee fans don't have fun feelings for the
- 16:37Speaker 2: Blue Jays, but the idea of Donnie finally getting a
- 16:39Speaker 2: World Series ring is kind of awesome.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Well, he has to win.
- 16:42Speaker 4: He's got a tall task right now, he's got a
- 16:44Speaker 4: second place ring if they don't win.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah, tall, tall task against the Dodgers.
- 16:49Speaker 1: But I'm excited.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I mean, they're at least heading into the series feeling
- 16:52Speaker 2: real good. That was like the high of highs. But
- 16:55Speaker 2: four days later and now you're going to run into
- 16:57Speaker 2: an ace every single night in the World Series.
- 17:01Speaker 3: In a lineup that doesn't quit either. Yeah, it's gonna be.
- 17:04Speaker 4: It's gonna be a fun series, though. I think I
- 17:06Speaker 4: think it's gonna be. I think it's gonna be better.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I think everyone's just assuming the Dodgers are gonna wipe
- 17:10Speaker 4: them out, but I think it could be better.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I think so.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Not a.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Let's take you through the Arena Club slab pack experience.
- 17:21Speaker 2: This is part two because Todd Father last week pulled
- 17:25Speaker 2: a card that he didn't love, yet he sold it
- 17:28Speaker 2: back for actually more than what the slab pack cost.
- 17:31Speaker 2: This time pulls a card that he likes.
- 17:34Speaker 6: Yeah, and this is the best part of it. Ronnie Mauricio,
- 17:36Speaker 6: the Mets stand out, you know, rookie sensation. He's been
- 17:39Speaker 6: absolutely phenomenal. I like the itch of seeing what you're
- 17:42Speaker 6: gonna get, you know, I like prospects. I don't love him,
- 17:46Speaker 6: but seeing this kind of card is actually absolutely beautiful thing.
- 17:49Speaker 6: I know a couple of people around town that would
- 17:51Speaker 6: absolutely love that card. So there's gonna be a lot
- 17:53Speaker 6: of conversations going on here for Arena Club.
- 17:55Speaker 5: And what you do is you have it in your
- 17:56Speaker 5: digital showroom.
- 17:57Speaker 2: If you want to hand it out locally cool, you
- 18:01Speaker 2: ask Arena Club to send it to you and they do,
- 18:03Speaker 2: or you can sell it back like you see there
- 18:05Speaker 2: instant offer for one hundred and ninety three bucks.
- 18:07Speaker 1: But he's keeping it and you can.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Do what Todd Father does by going to Arena club
- 18:11Speaker 2: dot com slash foul and getting twenty percent off your
- 18:14Speaker 2: first card purchase or your first slab pack purchase. That's
- 18:19Speaker 2: one I left hell and this is blaking news. During
- 18:22Speaker 2: the show, Kurt Suzuki, forty two years old, is being
- 18:25Speaker 2: hired by the Angels to run the dugout. He is
- 18:29Speaker 2: going to be the new manager of the Angels. Artie
- 18:32Speaker 2: Moreno has made his call. He was talking to Albert Poohols.
- 18:35Speaker 2: He seemed to be like the front runner. It sounds
- 18:37Speaker 2: like money and some other philosophy. He's gotten the way
- 18:41Speaker 2: of that one. There were others like Tory Hunter in
- 18:45Speaker 2: the mix, but Kurtzuzuki was a top tier candidate as well.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Do either of you guys know him like well, I
- 18:52Speaker 2: mean I've interviewed him a number of times.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Something nice, super smart a long time, okay, I mean
- 18:56Speaker 4: he's always nice.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he's catcher. Yeah, he's worked a little bit. Not
- 19:01Speaker 2: I was he in He was a special assistant to
- 19:04Speaker 2: GM perrimanation.
- 19:05Speaker 4: So he's been there for four years, two years, three years.
- 19:10Speaker 4: So this was his twenty three five mm hmm so
- 19:14Speaker 4: obviously him and an Asian have a relationship working with
- 19:19Speaker 4: each other the last three.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Years and the two years prior he was on the
- 19:23Speaker 2: Angels back, he's been there.
- 19:24Speaker 3: For a while.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, good for him.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Cool, Yeah, this is this is great.
- 19:31Speaker 6: I think the baseball world needs more players becoming managers.
- 19:36Speaker 6: I really like this. I really enjoy this. There's a
- 19:38Speaker 6: bunch of them now, But the more we can get
- 19:41Speaker 6: the players that have been there before and understand, especially
- 19:43Speaker 6: a guy who's caught his whole career understanding pitchers their tendencies,
- 19:49Speaker 6: And now he gets to have an opportunity to manage
- 19:52Speaker 6: a team and hopefully get them kickstarted in the right direction,
- 19:56Speaker 6: and starts with our our good friend Mike Trout and
- 19:59Speaker 6: it goes from there. Oh yeah, this is a great signing.
- 20:02Speaker 6: I'm happy for him. Another player gets another shot of
- 20:04Speaker 6: doing what he loves to do, and that's play the game.
- 20:06Speaker 6: End manager game now. So I can't wait to see
- 20:09Speaker 6: what he has in store. I can't wait to see
- 20:11Speaker 6: his coaching philosophies. I think it's going to be truly
- 20:13Speaker 6: remarkable for him and the Angels.
- 20:15Speaker 2: He hasn't coached. Are we okay with that? He hasn't
- 20:18Speaker 2: coached in the bigs. Stephen Vote did what one year
- 20:22Speaker 2: a bullpen coach in Seattle. Yeah, and then he ran
- 20:25Speaker 2: in there and he's been really good.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Didn't coach. There's been guys that have done it. Yeah,
- 20:30Speaker 3: I'm Bendley never coached, and he was He won a
- 20:32Speaker 3: World Series right right from the TV booth.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Just it just depends on the person, right, yeah, you
- 20:37Speaker 2: got it or you don't. And also, you know what,
- 20:39Speaker 2: you know, it sticks with me a lot now and
- 20:40Speaker 2: it's just it's a stupid, like common phrase that you
- 20:44Speaker 2: go dub. But when we talked to Mike Shilton, you're like, yo,
- 20:46Speaker 2: you've had two big years.
- 20:47Speaker 1: What's your key? And he's like, good players, ye, I mean.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Good ownership, good players, good coaches, every good communication. But
- 20:57Speaker 4: managing has changed so much, just more of now about
- 20:59Speaker 4: connecting with the players than it ever was. I mean,
- 21:01Speaker 4: because you know, as much as every manager says, oh,
- 21:03Speaker 4: I'm not giving the lineup, the front office does have
- 21:05Speaker 4: some input on everything, so you got to it's not
- 21:07Speaker 4: it's not like back in the day when the manager
- 21:11Speaker 4: had all the power and literally you can't You're going
- 21:14Speaker 4: down because I don't like you and you're gonna get
- 21:16Speaker 4: traded now. The GM's in the front office have that
- 21:19Speaker 4: power and they and they don't necessarily give you the lineups,
- 21:22Speaker 4: but they give you a good idea. Remember Matt Williams
- 21:24Speaker 4: bench Bryce Harper for not running, and Matt Williams got
- 21:26Speaker 4: fire and Bryce Harper did not go anywhere.
- 21:29Speaker 2: The managers have the third most juice out of three.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Number one is front office because they decide who's there
- 21:37Speaker 2: and who's not. Number two is players, and number three
- 21:40Speaker 2: is manager. In my mind, yeah, you're not gonna here
- 21:43Speaker 2: with you're a star player anymore, right, top father, I
- 21:46Speaker 2: mean the player if he's there for a long time
- 21:48Speaker 2: and he's he's the man like, you're not gonna win
- 21:50Speaker 2: that battle.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Never No, And that's just the way it's been. But
- 21:54Speaker 6: I another point I can't wait see who's coaching staff,
- 21:56Speaker 6: is that they're gonna keep guys. They're gonna revamp the
- 21:58Speaker 6: all things so that that's the next thing to come out.
- 22:01Speaker 6: I I know Krats he's looking for a first base
- 22:04Speaker 6: coaching job.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Maybe he'll sneak in there.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Number one. That's good.
- 22:09Speaker 2: That's good Kratz in California. And I don't think he's
- 22:12Speaker 2: leaving Amish country number two. I don't think Krats. I
- 22:17Speaker 2: think Krats is actually smarter than you guys think. He
- 22:20Speaker 2: is not going to work for a team that doesn't
- 22:22Speaker 2: even fix the air conditioning. We can joke about it,
- 22:26Speaker 2: but it is true, like it is a micro cosm.
- 22:28Speaker 1: They fixed it.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Out, I think so. I thought they redid their whole
- 22:30Speaker 3: spring training.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Comb No, wait, you didn't hear about this, Oh the
- 22:32Speaker 1: air conditioning in the weight room.
- 22:35Speaker 2: You were off that day, but you say Kukuchi came
- 22:38Speaker 2: out and said something. And then actually Polar I think
- 22:40Speaker 2: was on that day and he was like, yeah, that's
- 22:42Speaker 2: on brand, like we had issues like that. That's unacceptable, true,
- 22:46Speaker 2: And it wasn't like, oh, it's broken and we're going
- 22:48Speaker 2: to fix it in the next few days. Kukuchi said
- 22:51Speaker 2: he's sweating balls there because they didn't fix it once
- 22:55Speaker 2: it broke, that was it done the rest of the season.
- 22:58Speaker 1: If you want to work out.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Cool, but it's hot yoga baby, that's unacceptable to me,
- 23:04Speaker 2: Todd father. That's the stuff that stands out and some
- 23:07Speaker 2: people might there are some people that you're a big leaguer,
- 23:09Speaker 2: like figure it out.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Or pay for it yourself. That's that's not how it works.
- 23:12Speaker 2: You don't bring in your own technician to fix that
- 23:15Speaker 2: guy's home park, you know the owner.
- 23:17Speaker 1: So that's the.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Point here is how does he navigate working with somebody
- 23:23Speaker 2: who is very difficult to work with.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's what you're gonna have to do as
- 23:28Speaker 5: a manager. You're the boss.
- 23:30Speaker 6: You're you're the boss on the field, and you're gonna
- 23:32Speaker 6: have to figure out and not step on anybody's toes
- 23:34Speaker 6: and try and be your own person. And I think
- 23:37Speaker 6: that's what Kurtzuzuki is going to bring his own mind,
- 23:39Speaker 6: his own person, and his.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Own managerial way of what he wants to do.
- 23:43Speaker 6: And like I said, I can't wait to see what happens.
- 23:45Speaker 6: The smiley guy's gonna be happy. I want to see
- 23:47Speaker 6: his first argument. I want to see it all. I
- 23:48Speaker 6: want to see how he react to everything.
- 23:52Speaker 2: My thing is Albert Pouhols we've been talking about. This
- 23:55Speaker 2: is actually apparently highly coveted, but I think a very
- 23:58Speaker 2: risky hire. And I think he would have been a
- 24:00Speaker 2: good fit in Anaheim because he would have been able
- 24:03Speaker 2: to kind of learn on the job, do his thing
- 24:05Speaker 2: a little less pressure, and I think he would have
- 24:07Speaker 2: been one of the few guys that can actually bite
- 24:09Speaker 2: back at his boss and be like, hey, bro, you
- 24:12Speaker 2: don't know everything. How's how's everything going for you the
- 24:15Speaker 2: past twenty years?
- 24:16Speaker 5: Not great?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Can Kurt do that? Can Kirk go up to Artie
- 24:19Speaker 1: and be like, listen, dude.
- 24:20Speaker 3: It's not his job. It's his it's it's more manasium
- 24:23Speaker 3: that has to do it.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Okay, it's tough.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I agree, that's other power dynamics have changed.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Listen.
- 24:31Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. Kirk Suzuki.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I hope he does awesome at this job. But why
- 24:35Speaker 4: did they hire Kerzuzuki not Robert Rules?
- 24:39Speaker 1: They were fighting about money?
- 24:42Speaker 4: How much do you think that they don't tell us
- 24:44Speaker 4: because they God forbid Todd. They tell us how much
- 24:46Speaker 4: coaches and managers in front office people make. But he
- 24:49Speaker 4: was probably a relatively cheap higher.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no more than two million, maybe maybe one million.
- 24:55Speaker 4: And I guess what they probably feel like, Hey, we
- 24:58Speaker 4: can control them a little bit because he wants the job.
- 25:01Speaker 5: This is why.
- 25:02Speaker 3: And I hate to say that because I like Curzi.
- 25:04Speaker 3: He's a really nice guy.
- 25:05Speaker 2: There's only thirty of these, so you take one. See
- 25:08Speaker 2: if you can do something with it. I'm trying to
- 25:09Speaker 2: come up with a pathway.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Plus, you got to get a good reputation out there
- 25:12Speaker 4: if you want to go on to another team, like
- 25:15Speaker 4: possibly could not be the Angels. Like I mean, Angels
- 25:20Speaker 4: have been a mess for a long time now.
- 25:21Speaker 2: They shuffle through managers every other year. And I'm just
- 25:24Speaker 2: trying to come up with a pathway for Angels fans
- 25:26Speaker 2: to feel like they have hope.
- 25:29Speaker 3: They're young, cores their hope okay, and they need pitching.
- 25:34Speaker 2: And they have to go get pitching, and they need
- 25:37Speaker 2: to be able to fix little things and operate the
- 25:40Speaker 2: way that most modern franchises operate.
- 25:42Speaker 4: I like I do is look at the other team
- 25:43Speaker 4: in Los Angeles, even though they're an Anaheim. What the
- 25:46Speaker 4: Dodgers do. They help their players in every way possible
- 25:50Speaker 4: and all everything to every minor league's on up.
- 25:54Speaker 3: They do it.
- 25:54Speaker 4: They give the players everything they want need. If anybody
- 25:56Speaker 4: asks for some of the Dodgers, they don't say no.
- 25:58Speaker 2: And everything that the Dodgers do this is true, like
- 26:02Speaker 2: that can be done by the Angels. We're not talking about.
- 26:05Speaker 2: This isn't about signing players. The Angels have like they
- 26:08Speaker 2: spend on players here and there. But when there are
- 26:11Speaker 2: little things in the organization that don't get done, those
- 26:13Speaker 2: are the little cheap things that make all of the
- 26:15Speaker 2: difference in the world. You ask so many players about that.
- 26:18Speaker 2: The line that people liked from us last week was
- 26:20Speaker 2: how we said, hey, google Frank McCort. It wasn't that
- 26:24Speaker 2: long ago, and he was running the team and he
- 26:26Speaker 2: didn't do those things.
- 26:28Speaker 1: He was more like an Ardie Marino and the Dodgers
- 26:30Speaker 1: weren't very good.
- 26:32Speaker 2: True, it's about territory presented by the brand new Fox
- 26:38Speaker 2: one app. There the presenting sponsor through the World Series.

- 27:24Speaker 2: want to bring up a fan comment from last night's
- 27:26Speaker 2: postgame show, and I told the fan i'd get to
- 27:28Speaker 2: it now. The name is zach er Sick. I don't
- 27:32Speaker 2: understand how it's not talked about more. Springers shouldn't even
- 27:35Speaker 2: have had in at bat. That was an obvious intentional walk.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Tied for third most go ahead homers. No blah blah
- 27:42Speaker 2: for the double.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Play because you don't want Glad to have a chance
- 27:44Speaker 4: to get up at any because let's say they walk
- 27:46Speaker 4: him and then Lucas doesn't hit into a double play,
- 27:49Speaker 4: then you got Vlad coming up, who they didn't want
- 27:51Speaker 4: to face at all.
- 27:52Speaker 3: So no, it's not you hope he does. He hits
- 27:55Speaker 3: a sack fly, you give up one.
- 27:56Speaker 4: You still winning three to two, and then you get
- 27:58Speaker 4: Lucas out and then the next inning you face flat
- 28:01Speaker 4: with nobody on and you're up at least one run. No,
- 28:03Speaker 4: that's not, that's not That is not the point. Now,
- 28:05Speaker 4: if it was vlag Guerrero up and that's yes, that's
- 28:08Speaker 4: an easy intention on. But George Springer No, I don't
- 28:11Speaker 4: care what his he hit. We talked about it in
- 28:13Speaker 4: the post game last night. They were just blowing heater
- 28:15Speaker 4: for two days since he got in the knee.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Heater.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Buy him heater, buy him heater, buy him and he
- 28:19Speaker 4: finally caught up the one. It was right down the middle,
- 28:23Speaker 4: but they had thrown him right down the middle before,
- 28:24Speaker 4: and he had been laid on them all right, and
- 28:26Speaker 4: he finally just got the one.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Shit happens?
- 28:30Speaker 2: My thing was, Todd Father, I don't think any because
- 28:34Speaker 2: I'm just trying to think, like, what does the modern
- 28:35Speaker 2: game do. I don't think any manager in that spot
- 28:37Speaker 2: says I'm going to walk him knowing that you're now
- 28:40Speaker 2: going to get to Vladie Junior. But I think just
- 28:42Speaker 2: about every manager does bring in munius for that situation
- 28:47Speaker 2: in these days.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Yep, easy, easy question, easy answer. Yep. A lot like
- 28:53Speaker 5: we talked about before, could a shittle? What is?
- 28:55Speaker 6: There's a lot of questioning after the fact, and that's
- 28:57Speaker 6: part of this game and any sport.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Why did you do this? We could have done this,
- 29:02Speaker 5: What could have happened? Nobody ever knows?
- 29:05Speaker 2: How about in the World Series, Todd Father, how careful
- 29:07Speaker 2: are you going to be. If you're the Dodgers with
- 29:09Speaker 2: Flatty Junior, you're like, I've got such good pitching.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Yeah, or do you say, hey, I'm going.
- 29:15Speaker 4: To be a little you see, it goes early with
- 29:18Speaker 4: with his ab See how it goes early and how
- 29:20Speaker 4: you're planning to attack him goes If he's hot, then
- 29:22Speaker 4: you change but early I think with Snow probably starting
- 29:27Speaker 4: game one. Then you have Yamamoto, then you have glass Now,
- 29:30Speaker 4: and then you have show Hey pitch, that's Todd.
- 29:34Speaker 3: That's all dudes that throw a hundred with nasty stuff.
- 29:36Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, you take your chances early for sure,
- 29:40Speaker 5: real quick.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Just give me a yes or not.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Game one, first base is due, that second first base
- 29:45Speaker 2: is open in a big spot.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Do you walk Flatty?
- 29:49Speaker 3: What's what?
- 29:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not gonna have time first, mid game.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Depends on, depends on where we're at. It's so hard
- 29:56Speaker 3: to just I hate that. I hate that.
- 29:59Speaker 5: I'm many different scenarios. How many different scenarios.
- 30:04Speaker 2: On Friday Show, Hey O, Tani will be on a
- 30:07Speaker 2: plane to Toronto. There's Bill Plunket and many others. I mean,
- 30:13Speaker 2: FT threw that out there too last night. Finally, Otani
- 30:17Speaker 2: on a plane. Wait, but this is the story. I
- 30:18Speaker 2: want to ask Godfather shoe Hey o Tani was thinking
- 30:24Speaker 2: about Toronto or maybe he wasn't.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Roki Sazaki, I think was decided for years that he
- 30:29Speaker 2: wanted to sign with the Dodgers because every team can
- 30:31Speaker 2: pay about the same. I think they're gonna get booed
- 30:34Speaker 2: like crazy in Toronto. Those two in particular are public
- 30:39Speaker 2: enemy number one and two, because Toronto feels like they
- 30:43Speaker 2: were slighted for their team, their location, whatever it had
- 30:46Speaker 2: more to do with those guys just really want to
- 30:48Speaker 2: be with the Dodgers. But that's not how fans and
- 30:49Speaker 2: fan bases think about it. Don't you think they're gonna
- 30:51Speaker 2: go nuts for those two with Booze?
- 30:54Speaker 5: I think he is gonna get most of the all
- 30:56Speaker 5: of it. I don't. I don't know about the other.
- 30:59Speaker 6: I think show Hey is his enemy number one, especially
- 31:02Speaker 6: with the whole saga that went down and always on
- 31:05Speaker 6: a flight. You know he's got this. I remember like
- 31:08Speaker 6: it was yesterday, We're having a good laugh over the
- 31:10Speaker 6: whole thing. We thought it was serious too. We all
- 31:12Speaker 6: got shamboozled with the whole thing. And next thing you
- 31:15Speaker 6: know he's going to the Dodgers, So yes, there will
- 31:18Speaker 6: be some signs. There will be some yelling, some screaming,
- 31:21Speaker 6: and guess what, he leads off too, So this is
- 31:24Speaker 6: gonna be pretty incredible. I just I can't wait for
- 31:27Speaker 6: this World Series. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 31:29Speaker 2: He leads off and Rookie Sasaki is going to be
- 31:32Speaker 2: finishing games. And up until a month ago, it was
- 31:36Speaker 2: a complete non story. Right if these two teams are
- 31:38Speaker 2: matching up, they would have been like, ha ha. The
- 31:40Speaker 2: guy that we desperately wanted and we thought maybe was
- 31:43Speaker 2: considering us isn't even a factor.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Oh wait, now he's like huge closer. So there's cool storylines.
- 31:50Speaker 1: What's his name? Tasker Hernandez back to.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Toronto, Toronto last year or yeah, yeah, give it.
- 31:57Speaker 1: It's the World Series.
- 31:58Speaker 2: It's smashed the home in that series, but this is
- 32:01Speaker 2: the World Series, like it it resets because it's a
- 32:06Speaker 2: big moment. So I just think it's funny you look
- 32:08Speaker 2: for those storylines.
- 32:10Speaker 1: I mean, of.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Course, what did they always say everything in the postseason
- 32:13Speaker 3: is a story?
- 32:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Monk Mode, Will O'tani go for a four homer game?
- 32:18Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it'll go for it. The thing we
- 32:20Speaker 2: spoke yesterday time either we didn't get your comment on this,
- 32:23Speaker 2: but of Otani's performance on Friday, just as a former ballplayer,
- 32:27Speaker 2: knowing how freaking hard it is to play the sport,
- 32:30Speaker 2: what were you thinking when you saw that?
- 32:33Speaker 5: I was thinking, go grab a newspaper. This is going
- 32:35Speaker 5: to be a history in the making.
- 32:36Speaker 6: This is something that in fifty hundred years, I don't
- 32:40Speaker 6: think it'll ever be topped. It's the only person I
- 32:42Speaker 6: think that could top it's him again, So.
- 32:46Speaker 5: I thought it was absolutely incredible.
- 32:48Speaker 6: You know, I tell everybody, guys, this might be this
- 32:51Speaker 6: time in baseball. You're seeing the best to ever play
- 32:55Speaker 6: the game ever. Will this ever happen in our lifetime?
- 32:59Speaker 6: Probably not. You got some of the best baseball players
- 33:02Speaker 6: ever to play this game and you're watching it.
- 33:04Speaker 5: Please sit back and watch the show. It is truly remarkable.
- 33:08Speaker 6: I tell my kids, my two boys, I said, dude,
- 33:11Speaker 6: you're witnessing history here, and it's so cool to watch.
- 33:14Speaker 6: Baseball is such in a good spot with these guys
- 33:16Speaker 6: playing the game and winning and doing their best and
- 33:19Speaker 6: now seeing in the World Series.
- 33:21Speaker 5: Truly truly remarkable. There's nobody like Sho heo.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Tani, and I tell you what, the coolest thing I've
- 33:27Speaker 6: seen on a baseball field.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to appreciate history sometimes while it's happening,
- 33:34Speaker 2: or at least for me, Like I'm watching them like
- 33:36Speaker 2: this is ridiculous, but it's happening, and then it passes
- 33:40Speaker 2: and you're like, Okay, should I have done something different?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Now?
- 33:42Speaker 2: Just watch the game and just be like enjoy it. Yeah,
- 33:45Speaker 2: this is fun. And the only thing I do is
- 33:48Speaker 2: as a greedy fan. I just hope there are more versions,
- 33:52Speaker 2: not an exact as copy of the show, hey, but
- 33:55Speaker 2: just somebody else that can pitch at it like that.
- 33:57Speaker 1: It's just cool.
- 34:00Speaker 2: We got like five minutes. Let's bounce around a little bit.
- 34:02Speaker 2: We'll start with the World Series topic, then we'll go
- 34:04Speaker 2: to some of the manager news. We asked Ken about
- 34:08Speaker 2: Boba Schett. Now that you got his reply, what do
- 34:12Speaker 2: we think? What are you thinks gonna happen here with
- 34:15Speaker 2: Boba Schett? I mean, they're not going to leave him
- 34:18Speaker 2: off the roster if he says he's ready.
- 34:21Speaker 3: I know, I just don't know what they're going to
- 34:23Speaker 3: do with him.
- 34:23Speaker 1: How do you deploy him?
- 34:25Speaker 3: I don't know. That's the million dollars because you can't
- 34:27Speaker 3: play Springer in the out. You guys saw a spinger
- 34:29Speaker 3: he could barely run.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Yeah, some people were saying that in the comments. I mean,
- 34:31Speaker 2: I'm all over common.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Use him as a pinch hitter, and then something happens
- 34:37Speaker 4: like you can't can you put him on defense?
- 34:39Speaker 3: We saw him run. It was like a week ago
- 34:40Speaker 3: where he couldn't run the bases.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Right, and he still doesn't run the base, and we
- 34:44Speaker 2: need that. They're gonna have to see me easy.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Anyone can say I'm good to go until but then
- 34:47Speaker 4: until you've got to do a bunch of stuff, right,
- 34:50Speaker 4: So you got to be able to run the bases.
- 34:52Speaker 4: You got to be able to do a bunch of things.
- 34:54Speaker 4: But do you if you're the Blue Jays and listen,
- 34:56Speaker 4: I know blue Jay's fans. You all have been killing
- 34:58Speaker 4: me on Twitter because I said this, but I just
- 35:00Speaker 4: don't know where he plays. I don't know where he plays.
- 35:03Speaker 4: And it's a tough conversation you have to have maybe
- 35:05Speaker 4: and said, look, Bo, we're sorry, but should he be
- 35:08Speaker 4: on the roster if he's healthy, Yes, but he also
- 35:11Speaker 4: hasn't hit in six weeks September.
- 35:13Speaker 3: When you say six was the last game. Yeah, it's
- 35:16Speaker 3: been six six almost seven weeks.
- 35:18Speaker 1: If not money, I'm less concerned about that, Todd.
- 35:21Speaker 2: I'm more concerned about yet where you put him, because
- 35:25Speaker 2: the Blue Jays have had a really strong defensive team,
- 35:27Speaker 2: and I think you're going to need that. You're going
- 35:29Speaker 2: to have to play some really perfect baseball out there,
- 35:31Speaker 2: are we okay with Bo coming off a long, long
- 35:35Speaker 2: rest here not rest rehab to jump back into one
- 35:38Speaker 2: of the most important positions on the diamond in shortstop.
- 35:41Speaker 2: And also, I'll say this, it's true Bobaschat's not an
- 35:44Speaker 2: elite defender at shortstop, so already you've got that working
- 35:48Speaker 2: against you too. It's something to think about, right, you
- 35:50Speaker 2: want your defense to be tight?
- 35:53Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard decisions decisions, man. This is what they
- 35:57Speaker 6: get paid the big box. This is what you talk
- 36:00Speaker 6: about all offseason. If they win, you made the best
- 36:03Speaker 6: choice in the world. If they lose, why the heck
- 36:05Speaker 6: do you put.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Him on the roster?
- 36:07Speaker 6: You know what I mean? So you can go either
- 36:09Speaker 6: way with this. He's a really superb baseball player. He
- 36:12Speaker 6: can hit the ball really well. He's been off for
- 36:15Speaker 6: a long time. Is he ready to go? You gotta
- 36:17Speaker 6: see him run, You got to see his movements, and
- 36:20Speaker 6: I think that's what they'll be trying to do these
- 36:22Speaker 6: next couple of days.
- 36:25Speaker 5: I don't know. We talk about him all the time.
- 36:27Speaker 6: I think you have him on the roster and then
- 36:30Speaker 6: you go through all different scenarios about what Pitcher's thrown.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Do we start him here? Do we not start him here?
- 36:37Speaker 6: You want to get him in a groove too, You
- 36:39Speaker 6: don't want to just play him, and all of a
- 36:40Speaker 6: sudden he went over four.
- 36:41Speaker 5: Forget about him. So I'm glad I'm not in that situation.
- 36:45Speaker 4: You know, everyone keeps reading up Shoreber. Well, Schwarber got
- 36:48Speaker 4: to go to the Arizona Fall League or not. I
- 36:51Speaker 4: don't even know instructional league. Sorry, he got like a
- 36:53Speaker 4: ton of it bats. Boe has n't been doing that.
- 36:56Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sure maybe he's getting some simulated game
- 36:58Speaker 4: action maybe off some guys, But Scharber was actually playing
- 37:01Speaker 4: in games and Shoreber was just the DH well they hit.
- 37:03Speaker 4: The problem is they have a dh' His name is
- 37:05Speaker 4: George Springer, and he hit the biggest home run of
- 37:07Speaker 4: their gear last night. And again, you can't put him
- 37:09Speaker 4: in the outfield.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Can can you, But that's what they're looking at.
- 37:14Speaker 5: What Okay, that might be the only scenario.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Who do you take out Lucas or Barger?
- 37:27Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 37:27Speaker 3: Whoever did you take out?
- 37:29Speaker 5: Take out one of those lefties?
- 37:32Speaker 4: Yeah, but then you want to use Schneider, the mustache guy,
- 37:36Speaker 4: and he's doing a Schneider.
- 37:37Speaker 1: David Schneider, Yeah for lefties.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Yeah, for Snow in game one?
- 37:41Speaker 6: Would you would you rather just have him on the
- 37:43Speaker 6: bench and use him as a pin ship role? I mean,
- 37:45Speaker 6: that's gotta be you. But you haven't played in in
- 37:48Speaker 6: a month and a half.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Go get a hit off Sazaki thrown a hundred with
- 37:52Speaker 4: a nasty split. You haven't played in six weeks. You
- 37:54Speaker 4: haven't seen it, and you haven't had that. Also, the
- 37:56Speaker 4: thing is you haven't had like that.
- 37:59Speaker 3: It's you know how it is just a different it's
- 38:03Speaker 3: a different animal when you just I don't know. It's fascinating.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Do I want to replay absolutely, m because you'll help
- 38:11Speaker 4: him if he's healthy, But again, he hasn't until you
- 38:13Speaker 4: can listen. I need to see video of him running
- 38:15Speaker 4: the bases, playing shortstop, moving around. There's a lot of things,
- 38:19Speaker 4: and people are just like, oh, put him at second
- 38:20Speaker 4: for I k he's never played.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Second Yeah, I know. I was one of those who
- 38:25Speaker 2: brought I just brought it up. I wasn't saying to
- 38:27Speaker 2: do it, but a game one, it's Snell right, so
- 38:30Speaker 2: you have Lucas and Barger.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Lefties, but David Schneider probably speaking the right.
- 38:34Speaker 2: But if not, like that could be the game where
- 38:36Speaker 2: if you feel as if George Springer can be the outfield,
- 38:38Speaker 2: that could be your test game. Be like, Okay, we
- 38:40Speaker 2: got one game here. We're gonna do things a little differently,
- 38:42Speaker 2: but Bo is one of our best hitters. He's d
- 38:44Speaker 2: H Springers in the outfield. Let's see what happens and
- 38:48Speaker 2: then we can go from there. It's going to be
- 38:51Speaker 2: a huge story the next several days.
- 38:53Speaker 5: So we're starting to talk.
- 38:54Speaker 2: About it, and there will be a lot more once
- 38:56Speaker 2: John Schneider starts to maybe reveal some plans about what's
- 39:00Speaker 2: going on here. Anyway, let us know if we're missing something.
- 39:03Speaker 2: I'll check as many comments as I can. Later on,
- 39:06Speaker 2: I saw a lot of where Scott's service tweets from
- 39:10Speaker 2: Mariners fans. I mean they're going through it right now. Yeah,
- 39:13Speaker 2: it's funny. Scott's Service actually is drowing interest from teams.
- 39:17Speaker 2: It's funny you ask M's fans. The Twins are interested,
- 39:20Speaker 2: the Orioles are interested. He's going through his interviews right now.
- 39:25Speaker 2: I get it they're frustrated. But also, Dan Wilson did
- 39:29Speaker 2: a nice job overall this season with the Mariners.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I mean, he had talked.
- 39:34Speaker 4: They'll say there were some mistakes, but every manager makes
- 39:35Speaker 4: mistakes and you can always nitpick every decision. So Scott's
- 39:40Speaker 4: service his time right now. They hired Dan Wilson, he
- 39:44Speaker 4: got them almost to the World Series, but he's still
- 39:46Speaker 4: who's going to be the first guy to get the
- 39:48Speaker 4: Marriers of the World Series.
- 39:49Speaker 3: That's the question.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I know, it's really tough to get back to that spot.
- 39:53Speaker 3: It is really a lot of things went right for
- 39:55Speaker 3: him this year.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what, the starting staff was insane
- 39:59Speaker 2: the prior to years. This year took a step back
- 40:02Speaker 2: in terms of effectiveness.
- 40:03Speaker 4: But now they get older, they're gonna start to get it.
- 40:06Speaker 4: They're gonna start getting expensive at some point.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Expensive, and they just they just went through it in
- 40:10Speaker 2: the playoffs. Like if I'm a fantasy baseball player, which
- 40:12Speaker 2: I am, Like, I'm worried about some of those guys
- 40:14Speaker 2: just based off workload, playoffs whatever. I mean, they're not
- 40:17Speaker 2: all going to get through next season clean, just like
- 40:19Speaker 2: this year. So I still stand by this, Like they
- 40:24Speaker 2: had this. The prior two years they could have had this,
- 40:29Speaker 2: they didn't make the playoffs with those guys, right, they
- 40:31Speaker 2: made up. They made it once, So it was this year,
- 40:33Speaker 2: and then before that it was what twenty two?
- 40:38Speaker 5: Right? Yeah?
- 40:38Speaker 1: Does that sound right? Twenty two was the year where
- 40:40Speaker 1: they made it.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Did they make it twenty two and twenty three? No?
- 40:45Speaker 3: Twenty three is the no?
- 40:47Speaker 1: Sorry, a lot of numbers flying in my head.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Twenty two, yeah, because it was twenty two thousand and
- 40:54Speaker 2: one all the way up till twenty twenty two, and
- 40:57Speaker 2: then they missed again in twenty three and twenty four.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Those were the two years where we were like, oh
- 41:01Speaker 2: my gosh, the starting pitching staff is ridiculous. They had
- 41:07Speaker 2: no bat the one thing that MEMS fans are complaining
- 41:10Speaker 2: about as well, and that very valid point. Bottom of
- 41:12Speaker 2: their lineup started to become a complete non factor in
- 41:16Speaker 2: this series. Like Revas had a tough series, Ken Zone
- 41:18Speaker 2: had a really tough series, Like they didn't have the
- 41:21Speaker 2: one through nine depth that the Blue Jays had they
- 41:23Speaker 2: had more talented pitching, but there were some I don't
- 41:26Speaker 2: want to say auto outs, but it was not what
- 41:28Speaker 2: you want at the bottom. They didn't feel like they
- 41:30Speaker 2: completely filled out the roster there. True, All right, let's
- 41:45Speaker 2: slap We now know who the two World Series teams
- 41:48Speaker 2: are and Todd father. One of those teams will win
- 41:53Speaker 2: and get World Series rings, and one or two players
- 41:57Speaker 2: will win no matter what go off. Buddy Kennedy is
- 42:01Speaker 2: one of those two players. This August, he played two
- 42:04Speaker 2: games as an infielder for the Blue Jays and seven
- 42:07Speaker 2: games for the Dodgers. Buddy Kennedy posted this story on Instagram.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Go team, and it shows the Dodgers and the Blue
- 42:18Speaker 2: Jays on a nice little movie poster.
- 42:20Speaker 3: I love It's that one of those games he played.
- 42:23Speaker 1: In San Diego this year for which team Dodgers Dodgers.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Hey, does he get both rings or no? Oh?
- 42:31Speaker 3: Like does he get he should? Yeah?
- 42:33Speaker 6: Yeah, right, that's the best part about our sport. I
- 42:36Speaker 6: think in the NBA you got to play a certain
- 42:37Speaker 6: amount of games. They won't give it to you if
- 42:39Speaker 6: you just play like ten games or something.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Oh really, maybe he only gets one. Maybe it only
- 42:45Speaker 3: gets the winner.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I don't I don't want him to be the only
- 42:47Speaker 1: guy though. There's one other.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Who's the other one?
- 42:50Speaker 1: Jose Arna He played for both both teams this year.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Yeah, well he didn't post about it, but six appearances
- 42:57Speaker 2: with Toronto Wow, two with the Dodgers. Jose Reina, Congratulations,
- 43:03Speaker 2: your dream has come true. You're a World Series champion.
- 43:05Speaker 3: You're getting one. That's awesome.
- 43:07Speaker 5: That is awesome.
- 43:09Speaker 2: The two teams line up in the World Series and
- 43:11Speaker 2: it's just like, all right, at this point, you just
- 43:15Speaker 2: maybe roof for whichever team you think is going to
- 43:17Speaker 2: give you better bling, which sure you might think the Dodgers,
