Latest / Worldview Matters With David Fiorazo / Dran Reese: Educating Believers, Waking Up ‘Passive Pulpits’
Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity, no topic off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Firazzo.
- 0:20Friends, family and Christ, thank you for tuning in very important topic today, another
- 0:25one.
- 0:26I think it's every day.
- 0:27The podcast is important.
- 0:28But this is a good one.
- 0:29We're going to be talking about churches and the concepts, the sometimes forgotten concepts
- 0:35of being salt and light.
- 0:38It is biblical.
- 0:39But how do we apply those ideas to our context here in America?
- 0:44We're going to talk with Dran Reese, with Salt and Light Council.
- 0:48It's great to have her back and the website saltandlightcouncil.org, saltandlightcouncil.org.
- 0:56If it's easier for you, remember bravesalt.com, bravesalt.com.
- 1:01Brave.
- 1:02Let's talk about being brave, Dran Reese, good to see you again, sister.
- 1:06Well, thank you so much.
- 1:07I'm so happy to be here.
- 1:08Oh, it's a blessing.
- 1:09I keep up with all, well, not all you're doing, but you know, I get your newsletter.
- 1:13Let's go right there first.
- 1:14So on your website is, where do people sign up for your newsletter to keep up with you
- 1:19guys?
- 1:20Sure.
- 1:21Well, if you come to the homepage, you're going to see a lion.
- 1:24And that just outlines for you the different ministries that we have at the very first
- 1:28one of the very top salt and light council.
- 1:30If you go in there, you can sign up for our newsletter.
- 1:33And that's our premier ministry because this is the one that we operate in the side of
- 1:40those churches that are worth their salt, the pastors that we love, who are willing to
- 1:45engage in the cultural battle.
- 1:48And so you can go right in there and you can see the different ministries that we have
- 1:52and how it supports the work of Christians in the community and in government.
- 1:58So let's talk about your lecture series briefly, which first of all, let's back up because
- 2:03it's been so long maybe a year and a half or two years since we talked to you last.
- 2:09So let's catch up.
- 2:11We have a lot of newer viewers and listeners praise God that might not know about the
- 2:16salt and light council.
- 2:17So let's start with that and your involvement and what's it all about?
- 2:22Well, if you have listeners out there who are pretty much upset with what they see going
- 2:28on in this world right now, I mean, it's become polarized a little bit more hostile and
- 2:33we've seen that political correctness is really taking over the day.
- 2:37What I suggest is that they find a way to develop a purpose and a vision for their life
- 2:43on how they are going to give back to society.
- 2:46All of us have to, we all have a duty before God to do our part in society and help the
- 2:53next generation be equipped with the same freedoms that we were given.
- 2:57In fact, Coretta Scott King said that freedom is never really one.
- 3:02You earn it and win it in every generation.
- 3:05And so in this generation, as you can tell, especially in the last four years, we felt
- 3:12like this country was going to fall off of a cliff and we didn't know where it was
- 3:17headed.
- 3:18And so what your listeners can do is they can take simple steps with our ministry to
- 3:23get involved in the day-to-day activities that are happening in their local state legislature
- 3:29or maybe in their local community.
- 3:30It's very simple.
- 3:31Let me show them how.
- 3:32Yes.
- 3:33And you go into churches.
- 3:34You have representatives that will go into your church and set up a table and just share
- 3:38information with you.
- 3:40And I want to point people to salt and light council.org on the homepage.
- 3:44There's a link that says pastor information.
- 3:48Now friends, a lot of pastors get defensive about this because they haven't been doing
- 3:53a great job of leading their congregations in these cultural battles.
- 3:59So there's a link you can get your pastor to go to.
- 4:03There's also legal resources.
- 4:05There's a misunderstanding about what we can say as Christians from the church, from
- 4:10the pulpit.
- 4:11And it's just unbelievable that we have to go through this trend, but we do.
- 4:15Because a lot of pastors think like can't talk about politics.
- 4:18But so they think moral issues are off.
- 4:23You can't talk about them, but it's not true.
- 4:26So I would just want to again mention friends, just send your pastor to the web page or get
- 4:30them, maybe email him this information because there's not enough men of God.
- 4:35And maybe we can start right there with an event you got, not you, but Liberty Pastors.
- 4:40That's where I met you, Dran Reese, four or five years ago at a Liberty Pastors event.
- 4:46I don't think it was when the Oklahoma, I think it was in Texas when I met you, Paul Blair
- 4:51puts those on.
- 4:52So there is an event coming up.
- 4:54Where is it?
- 4:55It is April 7.
- 4:57And the website is Liberty Pastors, you just letter you dot com Liberty Pastors, you dot
- 5:05com.
- 5:06Tell us about this event.
- 5:07Are you speaking at that one too?
- 5:08Oh, 100% I speak at everyone.
- 5:10It's also Liberty Pastor dot com.
- 5:13So to make it simple, they also have, they put the you there because they also have a university
- 5:18where it has sermons for pastors where they can learn about the history of America and
- 5:22actually teach that to their congregations.
- 5:25But Liberty Pastors is an amazing event and it's coming to San Diego.
- 5:28Now who doesn't want to come to San Diego in April and it's at the San Diego Marriott Hotel,
- 5:37which is literally right on the bay and it is absolutely exquisite.
- 5:41You can walk out the door of the hotel across a park, literally a walkway and take a boat
- 5:47to Coronado or just walk to the right of block and you're at Seaport Village or go to the
- 5:52downtown.
- 5:53It is a getaway for pastors, but also for their wives.
- 5:57So they do encourage that you combine a little fun along with an education, education and
- 6:02fun go very well together in these type of Liberty Pastor events.
- 6:08And so it's going to take any pastor on a little bit of a journey through the history
- 6:13of why America was founded and how it relates to our scripture and our Bible.
- 6:18Because right now we are, David as you know, celebrating the 250th birthday of America.
- 6:24So it's what Liberty Pastors has been doing that I'm a part of for the last, I'd say about
- 6:29five or six years, has been so pivotal.
- 6:32We are finding those pastors, David, that are worth their salt.
- 6:36And the rest of them, if you can't just speak to your congregation, the truth, the whole
- 6:43truth and nothing but the truth, but help them connect the dots of their faith to the
- 6:48culture.
- 6:49You are doing them a disservice, but not the pastors that we have coming here that graduate
- 6:53and then start one of our salt and light ministries to put their faith in direction.
- 7:00So I've been to a couple of those, they're wonderful and just this is great because I've
- 7:04had Paul Blair on many times, but for him, it's been about a year or two.
- 7:08So I just want to remind people, you can get this information to your pastor.
- 7:13It's, if it hasn't changed, it's like $99, you just get to San Diego, you've got a free
- 7:20hotel, you got your meals taken care of, and you're getting amazing up to date information
- 7:25on everything from education to globalism to the culture of war, to a government, everything
- 7:31else.
- 7:32So please send your pastor to LibertyPastures.com and at least have him consider this.
- 7:38I'm San Diego.
- 7:39I mean, to a lot of people in different parts of the country, that's very appealing.
- 7:42So really quick question, Dran.
- 7:44I, a lot of these have taken place in swing states very strategically.
- 7:50Why California for this one?
- 7:53Well, probably me because I live here in San Diego and I've been crying out for
- 8:01help in this state.
- 8:04As you well know, and you've heard in the media, we have a governor that is almost like
- 8:09a taskmaster.
- 8:10He's like Pharaoh.
- 8:12He has taken away the straw and made it very difficult for people to live in this state
- 8:15and so so many people are leaving.
- 8:18But this is a gorgeous state.
- 8:20It's beautiful.
- 8:21It has so many natural resources.
- 8:23And the only thing really wrong with it is our politics.
- 8:27And people are upset about that but they don't actually know why because the media is so
- 8:33good at making it sound as if they are, it's maybe the Republicans or the Christians
- 8:40fall.
- 8:41But it's never the Democrats.
- 8:42It's never, you know, the left side of society.
- 8:46So what we're trying to do here in California, they heard our cry.
- 8:50They decided to do one here and I have an incredibly sweet pastor network and I do believe
- 8:55that we can make a couple of changes.
- 8:57One is on the governor of this state and also we have one of our pastors from South
- 9:02and Midas running for state senate so I believe we can make a difference in that district
- 9:05as well.
- 9:07But also to encourage these pastors to don't give up the fight, don't give up because
- 9:11we're with you and we're going to give them the tools to really fight the battle, to
- 9:16fight it and fight it well.
- 9:18We have a lot of issues coming as you well know what's happening in Minnesota is a reflection
- 9:23of what California certainly would like to do and probably is really doing.
- 9:28It's just that we haven't called them out yet on their fraud.
- 9:32Yeah, I mean, elections have consequences and you can just see some of these blue cities
- 9:38and states sadly, you know, California being blue year right, it didn't used to be.
- 9:43Wasn't it in the late 70s, early 80s, didn't California go for Reagan?
- 9:50Oh, yes, sure, and that was it for as far as Republicans.
- 9:54And then well, we had, we had Schwarzenegger was really, yeah, he wasn't really a true Republican.
- 10:03But one of the other things is that with our minister of the Salt and Light Council,
- 10:08it really isn't about Democrat or Republican.
- 10:10It's about a biblical worldview and what we're talking to do is to help people to understand
- 10:17that one of the parties and it really is the Republican stands closer to our scripture
- 10:22and our Bible.
- 10:23There are pro-life organizations, there are pro-marriage between a man and a woman.
- 10:28There are pro-lower taxes, which is holding the debt crisis down and there are pro-freedom.
- 10:35Whereas you contrast and compare that with the way the Democrats think in their party,
- 10:40their stated platforms are to murder babies in the womb and to promote LGBTQ and trans-genderism
- 10:50and all sorts of different genders, ideologies and to raise taxes on all of us so that the
- 10:57government gets larger and bigger and the smaller business and entrepreneurs get smaller
- 11:03and more subservient to the state.
- 11:07That's a big difference and it's a big job to teach, but that's the job that God has given
- 11:12our ministry Salt and Light Council and I believe that if pastors could at least use some of
- 11:18our tools.
- 11:19One of the tools we have, David, you remember the biblical voter booklet, right?
- 11:23On the differences in the party, we updated it with the up to 2028 and it's amazing,
- 11:29little booklet.
- 11:31Everybody should get this booklet.
- 11:32It's on our website, biblicalvoter.com, which by the way has all of the voter guides for
- 11:38each and every state from a conservative and Christian standpoint and we're on a shamed
- 11:43about saying that in which, by the way, we can talk from the pulpit about who we endorse.
- 11:49And that has changed now.
- 11:50The IRS has said you can endorse from the pulpit and we need to start taking that seriously
- 11:56because for years, the left has been endorsing from the pulpits and our country is no better
- 12:02off.
- 12:03We have so much fraud, we have election fraud, we have financial fraud, we can't trust our
- 12:10government anymore with our tax dollars and the education system, what they're doing
- 12:16to our children is criminal with their children brainwashing them and not giving them the
- 12:21tools to go out and have great jobs, but also to love God.
- 12:25And to know that America was founded on the principle that we owe, we have, we owe our
- 12:32basically our soul to God, but also that we have an accountability to a God in heaven
- 12:39and that's what helps to keep us, you know, in check and in restraint and leading a good
- 12:45life and not going too far off the rail as we see so many people doing right now in
- 12:50these protests without good reason.
- 12:53So there's a lot of reasons for assault in like ministry in a church and we're grateful
- 12:58that Liberty pastors has come to San Diego to help us.
- 13:01Awesome.
- 13:02You mentioned one thing very important I want to touch on hypocrisy for a moment.
- 13:06The left has been many, not all, but many leftist Democrat pastors and churches have been
- 13:12endorsing candidates or promoting certain political issues, right?
- 13:16And they're not worried about, they weren't worried about the IRS taking away their 501C3,
- 13:20but on the right conservative Christian pastors with the biblical worldview have been afraid
- 13:27to say, I wonder why that is, that they really thought that they could get their 501C3
- 13:32status revoked, but didn't the IRS recently, I think just within the last six months come
- 13:37out and admit that it's okay, yeah, yeah, we admit, yeah, we, the 501C3 is safe, you
- 13:44know, pastors can talk about politics from the pulpit and it was like, it was, didn't
- 13:49make the news, right?
- 13:50Because the media don't, they don't want to touch on that.
- 13:53They don't want the right to speak up about these issues.
- 13:56Just speak to that for a moment, Tran.
- 13:58Well, you're 100% right.
- 14:01The IRS has now ruled that pastors can speak from the pulpit and endorse candidates, which
- 14:05thank you Jesus.
- 14:07Well, they.
- 14:08So that's our ministry, but also I think the right plays by the rules a lot better.
- 14:14I don't think the left has rules because when you talk about left, you start moving into
- 14:20the category of socialism and communism.
- 14:24And when you move that far left, those rules are quite different than our rules to honor
- 14:30God, honor our society, honor families, honor the community, do our best for our neighbor.
- 14:35That's not the rules that they have.
- 14:37They play by abolishing everything, family, abolishing family, destroying it in any manner
- 14:43that you can and read defining it.
- 14:46They don't want you to have any property so that you have nothing that becomes yours and
- 14:50that you can take care of.
- 14:52They want you to be a globalist where everything that you have is shared with everybody else.
- 14:58And nobody ever really wants to work hard because if you aren't going to be successful and
- 15:04you're just going to have to share your wealth with someone else, why work that hard?
- 15:06So you have a bunch of lazy people who just want to live on that government system and
- 15:11get their little tiny paychecks.
- 15:14So they set their sites on the lowest level that they possibly can.
- 15:21To public housing, they set their sites on public housing, like why would you do that?
- 15:26That's not what America's founded on.
- 15:27We're founded on strength and bravery and courage and we were all entrepreneurs.
- 15:32If you read in the Bible, we all came here with nothing and made something out of nothing
- 15:37because we prayed and we sought God and we cared for each other and we built a community.
- 15:44Amen, sister.
- 15:47We are going to be right back with Dran Reese, but we're going to ask her what Sultan Light
- 15:51Council is doing for America's 250th birthday.
- 15:54That's next.
- 15:56Register now for the World View Matters Conference May 1 and 2 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- 16:02Speakers include Alex Newman, Brianna Clawson, Olivier Melnick, Tim Chaffey, Mark and
- 16:10Amber Archer, Laura Perry Smalls, Jake Jacobs, Jay Seigert, Gary Caw, Scott Shera and Elijah
- 16:20Abraham, Delta Hotel Green Bay May 1 and 2 go to worldviewmattersconference.com that's
- 16:28worldviewmattersconference.com.
- 16:32Alright friends, we're speaking with Dran Reese.
- 16:34She's the president of the salt and light council.org and make sure to get this information
- 16:40to your pastor, please.
- 16:41So Dran, big year, a lot of nations and societies don't make it 100 years, let alone 250.
- 16:49So what is the Sultan Light Council doing for the 250th birthday of America?
- 16:56Well, I'm enjoying developing 10-minute sermons for pastors.
- 17:01Now these are more bullet points on the history of America and why I'm doing them in 10-minute
- 17:06snippets is so that they can pile them together, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes or however
- 17:12long they'd like to.
- 17:14But to and providing them as more facts about what America was founded, how we came over
- 17:21here from England and why we came over here, what were the reasons why we left, just
- 17:25simple bullet points so that he, the pastor, can give sermons on how beautiful it is
- 17:31that so many lives were given for our right to be free today.
- 17:36And again, like I said, we, this is a moment in history where we have to really work
- 17:41hard at our freedom because there are so many people that want to take that away.
- 17:46So the 250th is very important.
- 17:48It's a year to celebrate and I hope that your listeners out there will just enjoy getting
- 17:53to know America all over again, fall in love with her, listen to some of the patriotic
- 17:57songs.
- 17:58They're just, you know, some of the battle hymn of the Republic, my country, tis of
- 18:02thee.
- 18:03I mean, all about how the flag, you know, was when the British came, they were bombing
- 18:11with those bombs in the air and the flag was still there.
- 18:16Songs are indicative of the founding of our country and it just gives me chills to
- 18:21think about how beautiful this country is and what we did, how many lives were lost so
- 18:26that we have this day to do our part.
- 18:31And that's what I'm trying to ask everybody, do your duty, do your due diligence, understand
- 18:36the differences between the Democrat and Republican Party, align them with your Bible, pray for
- 18:42help because we really need it from God.
- 18:45And in fact, he did answer our prayers, David, and you know that through bringing us the
- 18:49current president who is friendly to our Christian community.
- 18:53He has built a religious freedom coalition and they're out there trying to fight what's
- 18:57going on in all these countries, be heading Christians, right?
- 19:00What they're doing for the Iranian people to try to free them and stop the wars, the
- 19:06best that he can.
- 19:08And then recently, David, I don't know if you heard this, but he's going to start a
- 19:11bank account for children, a thousand dollars per child.
- 19:16And you know, like what president does this, I know, giving children a head start, a jump
- 19:24start in this world.
- 19:26So we have so much to be grateful for.
- 19:29This is the year to celebrate that and stop the division.
- 19:34And again, the people that are foisting this division on us are not the Republican side.
- 19:40It's not the right.
- 19:41It's the far left.
- 19:42And we really need to start focusing in on who's doing this and demand that they stop and
- 19:49that they have a little come to Jesus meeting and decide to convert or they should be punished
- 19:58for what they've done to destroy our country.
- 20:01Let's let's talk about before we run out of time, how important this organization like
- 20:06yours, assault and light council is in light of what we witnessed last year in the assassination
- 20:12of Charlie Kirk when he was killed just for speech, free speech, and the biblical worldview,
- 20:19what he believed, because we're all on that same page, the biblical worldview.
- 20:22And we speak about many of the same issues as he did.
- 20:26So it was very eye opening afterwards to see so many boldly openly celebrating his
- 20:34death.
- 20:35We know exactly.
- 20:36We are not the same, Dran is the left as the demonically driven leftists and communists.
- 20:42And these people, they are enemies of God, enemies of America.
- 20:46And you know, this is very interesting that we were able to see that.
- 20:49But why is it so important in light of that to keep the Sultan light council going strong?
- 20:56Well, the soldier like counsel, we've been here for 20 years now.
- 21:00And what Charlie Kirk did is he put the exclamation and the point on everything that we've been
- 21:05doing, but he brought it to the limelight.
- 21:08He brought it out there about that we need to be brave and courageous and we need to stand
- 21:13up for our faith in the public square and we can't let the leftists and the communists
- 21:17of this country are infiltrating and the Chinese and other organizations that want to take
- 21:23over America and take over our American way of life for their purposes to use us and
- 21:28abuse us.
- 21:30Charlie Kirk got out there and he talked about it to radical Islam as taking over a country
- 21:34that we do not compute together in the same ideology at all.
- 21:38And this is a Christian nation we are of God fearing country.
- 21:42And that what Charlie Kirk did is again, he just made it so popular to be bold and courageous
- 21:51and fearless.
- 21:52And I'm grateful for that because I have seen some pastor to have decided to step up to
- 21:57the plate and the pastors that haven't shaped the dust and go and move on.
- 22:03But you know Charlie Kirk showed us the deep polarization that we have in our country
- 22:08and the division.
- 22:09But I likened that a little bit to the wheat and the chaff separating that in the Bible.
- 22:16We are, we've all grown up together, but there is a remarkable difference and at the harvest
- 22:21we the wheat will see the chaff blown away and spending the rest of their life.
- 22:27And I hate to say it for those that are listening or not believers in Jesus Christ, but you
- 22:31are going to hell and I'm sorry, but you need to believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord
- 22:37and Savior and stopping so prideful that you can live a life without Him.
- 22:42We all need Jesus.
- 22:44It just gives us an opportunity to admit that we're not always right and that we have
- 22:48a humble heart and we care not only about ourselves but about the people around us.
- 22:53So being a believer in Jesus Christ is life saving and I believe is the greatest psychologist
- 22:59because David, we have so many people that are having mental health problems and going
- 23:03on all sorts of depression drugs if they were only in their eyes towards Jesus.
- 23:09They would receive the gift of the fountain of life and just a whole new life that would
- 23:17redeem them from the peril that they're allowing themselves to stay stuck in.
- 23:21So I'm glad you brought that up.
- 23:24Yeah, the gospel.
- 23:25That's why we're here friends.
- 23:27It's not just about politics.
- 23:29It is about the biblical worldview.
- 23:30It is about the truth of Jesus Christ and who he is that we are here to share the best
- 23:34news.
- 23:35Yeah, they are our enemies, but we would love to see some of them saved if possible.
- 23:39So that falls on us to share.
- 23:41It's not up to us whether they received the gospel and the truth of Christ or not.
- 23:46Briefly, you also had Chloe Cole recently as a lecturer.
- 23:50You have a guest lecture series.
- 23:52Can anyone sign up for that, Fran?
- 23:54Oh, absolutely.
- 23:56Go to our website again, salt and light counsel dot org go to the salt and light counsel
- 24:01and the lecture series is right there.
- 24:03Last month, Chloe Cole, oh my gosh, she was so beautiful.
- 24:06So we open it to the public, but we do not have replays.
- 24:10Those replays are for our salt and light ministries and for their churches to replay.
- 24:15But I have to say Chloe Cole is a detransitioner from years of mental and verbal abuse from
- 24:24her school system and from the social media environment, which is very abusive to young
- 24:31children.
- 24:32Yeah.
- 24:34The medical industry added to that was very abusive with only an hour and a half worth
- 24:38of a consultation told their parents that she would commit suicide if she didn't make
- 24:45this transition.
- 24:46So they put her on hormone treatments.
- 24:48They then took off her breasts, but I have to say she is a consummate professional.
- 24:56She has come out on the other side.
- 24:58Her story is very, very compelling.
- 25:00I've never met anybody that I believe could literally change this entire community back
- 25:07to common sense.
- 25:08She is a lover of Jesus now.
- 25:10She wasn't always.
- 25:12She did make this transition without Jesus, both ways, but she has come to see why and
- 25:19her purpose now in saving so many other lives.
- 25:23So also David, next month we have Meena Kim.
- 25:25She's coming on, she is from Korea and you know the story there that the pastor was imprisoned
- 25:33under the new governmental system, which has also become socialist in South Korea, which
- 25:40is scary for us because it used to be a very democratic country.
- 25:45And so she'll be talking about what's going on in the persecution of Christians and pastors
- 25:51in Korea.
- 25:52Hmm.
- 25:53Lord, so much to keep up with.
- 25:55Thank you for all you do, Dran.
- 25:57I'm very briefly.
- 25:58Do we have time?
- 26:00Something you sent me in an email, the top three excuses from our passive pulpits from
- 26:04pastors.
- 26:05Do we have a minute and a half?
- 26:06Do we have time for you to highlight just bullet point those three excuses?
- 26:10I do.
- 26:11And I actually wrote them down for you.
- 26:13So let me just pull them up really quick.
- 26:14The first one is I don't want to offend anyone.
- 26:17And that's the very first one.
- 26:18So I want to offend them.
- 26:20And until the church speaks boldly on these issues, darkness will keep filling the silence.
- 26:25So they're afraid of losing members.
- 26:28The next one is, oh, we don't want to scare people away, which is we don't want to
- 26:32rob the boat.
- 26:35So the church that fears the world has nothing to give the world.
- 26:38And of course, this is coming from a fear of rejection and intimidation of all the potential
- 26:44critics that they have in the church.
- 26:46And the last one I was going to tell you about was, I can't, the pastor is saying I can't
- 26:51do one more thing.
- 26:53We are just overloaded.
- 26:55We're trying to keep our heads above water.
- 26:57And I agree.
- 26:58That may be true.
- 26:59We're all in the same boat.
- 27:02But as Neemoller said, first they came for the socialist and I did not speak out because
- 27:07I wasn't a socialist.
- 27:09Then the train unionist, then the Jews, and then they came for me.
- 27:13And there was no one left to speak for me.
- 27:15That's right.
- 27:16And pastors, that's what they signed up for to lead the congregations and speak the truth
- 27:21and be bold for the gospel.
- 27:24And anyway, they should remove some of that other stuff that's on their plate and get
- 27:28into the stuff that their congregation is really desperately needing.
- 27:33We need to equip the saints again, friends.
- 27:35Anyway, I know I'm pretty sure you require a grand raise.
- 27:37Thank you so much.
- 27:38I want to give the website again.
- 27:39It is saltandlightcounsel.org.
- 27:42Thank you, grand.
- 27:43God bless you, sister.
- 27:45God bless.
- 27:46All right, friends.
- 27:47Thank you for sharing the podcast.
- 27:49God bless.
- 27:50And as always, keep speaking the truth about things that matter.
