- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mo so much for joining us. The US, of course,
- 0:03Speaker 1: includes the producer of this program, Cameron D.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Parker.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The deal on the birth certificate stands for Dallas. He
- 0:09Speaker 1: had to have to worry about his favorite football team,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Dallas playing last night on Monday Night Football. Not that
- 0:14Speaker 1: he seems to worry much about them at all these days.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's kind of sad he's given up caring for them
- 0:23Speaker 1: toward that end, Cameron D. Parker, Cameron Dallas Parker. I
- 0:28Speaker 1: have an item that you're really going to appreciate and inconceivable,
- 0:33Speaker 1: but because it involves none other and the man you well,
- 0:38Speaker 1: if you don't admire hm, at least you follow him
- 0:40Speaker 1: so much. That would be Jerry Jones. Is it his
- 0:43Speaker 1: eating habits? No? No, not to eat it? Why But
- 0:48Speaker 1: did I miss something? Yeah? He was asked about one
- 0:51Speaker 1: of the Cowboys or Panthers. I think he's the Panther receiver.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Former South Carolina guy Leguet was asked about eating raccoon,
- 0:59Speaker 2: and Jerry said, I eat raccoon, yes, Alex squirrel, yes,
- 1:03Speaker 2: So I mean.
- 1:05Speaker 3: That could go in. Well, he is the Maarkansas, that's true. True. No,
- 1:11Speaker 3: this is.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Something else and I think he'll actually appreciate this and
- 1:15Speaker 1: it really does belong an inconceivable, So that'll be coming up.
- 1:19Speaker 1: But coming up in a few minutes, however, we'll talk
- 1:22Speaker 1: about more meaningful football. The Clemson Tigers, the opponent for
- 1:25Speaker 1: the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon at Daryl K. Royal
- 1:28Speaker 1: Texas Memorial Stadium, and the head coach of the Tigers,
- 1:32Speaker 1: Dad Oksweeney, has talked a lot about the different nature
- 1:37Speaker 1: of this game and all that. We're going to get
- 1:38Speaker 1: the feel of that from the play by play voice
- 1:42Speaker 1: of the Tigers, Don Munson. He'll join us coming up
- 1:45Speaker 1: in a few minutes to talk about this Clemson Texas matchup,
- 1:48Speaker 1: first time ever for these two programs to meet on
- 1:51Speaker 1: the football field in what should be from all indications,
- 1:56Speaker 1: good weather on Saturday. I'm hearing mid sixties, like maybe
- 2:00Speaker 1: sixty five and sunny. It's pretty dog gone good for
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, going on late December. To have that so
- 2:10Speaker 1: and so and four days before Christmas to have sunny
- 2:14Speaker 1: skies and about sixty five degrees for a football game,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm sure both teams will be happy about that.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Cameron's pretty fired up, you know.
- 2:23Speaker 1: He'll be with me tonight as we bring you Texas
- 2:27Speaker 1: women's basketball on one O three point one FM, Austin's
- 2:30Speaker 1: SAD station. Kathy Arsenale joined me for the call, and
- 2:33Speaker 1: Cameron our engineer and our studio host if you will,
- 2:37Speaker 1: or on site broadcast host if you there's there's several
- 2:42Speaker 1: of the programs radio networks across the country. North Carolina
- 2:46Speaker 1: is one of those where they have the play by
- 2:47Speaker 1: play guy Jones, Angel the analyst, and then they have
- 2:52Speaker 1: an engineer, and then they have what's called the broadcast host,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and the broadcast host updates the other games and that
- 2:58Speaker 1: are going on and stuff like that and keeps everybody
- 3:01Speaker 1: up up to speed at halftime.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So Cam, we'll be doing that tonight.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But what I started to say is what he's also
- 3:08Speaker 1: going to be keeping up with is the Emirates NBA
- 3:11Speaker 1: Cup because you're fired up about your Oklahoma City thunder
- 3:14Speaker 1: taking on the Milwaukee Bucks tonight.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the NBA Cup.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I know that's an accolade that I'm sure every every
- 3:21Speaker 2: casual NBA fan really cares about it.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Besides that, I'm excited for this game.
- 3:26Speaker 2: A Bucks team that was pronounced dead by the week
- 3:28Speaker 2: into the season, they're back alive. Giannis is back alive.
- 3:31Speaker 2: He likes Milwaukee guys. I hate to say it for
- 3:34Speaker 2: Laker fans or Knicks fans or whoever is trying to
- 3:38Speaker 2: talk to themselves into a Yiannis trade. Maybe even the
- 3:40Speaker 2: Brooklyn Nets as well. I don't think they really have
- 3:42Speaker 2: fans though. But it's fun for OKC. I mean, this
- 3:45Speaker 2: is my Western Conference pick. I have Celtics in OKC
- 3:49Speaker 2: and the finals will be fun to see how they
- 3:51Speaker 2: match up against the Bucks in this game.
- 3:54Speaker 3: So I'm looking forward to it December basketball.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And also I think this is a statement game for
- 3:59Speaker 2: OKC because on Christmas Day, and when I grew up
- 4:03Speaker 2: watching the NBA, Christmas Day.
- 4:05Speaker 3: That's an NBA tradition was owned by the NBA.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Now the NFL is taken over and looking at the
- 4:10Speaker 2: games on Christmas Day that was usually would feature the
- 4:13Speaker 2: best teams or the biggest stars. And I think OKAC
- 4:17Speaker 2: is considered a best team considering they were the one
- 4:19Speaker 2: seed this past season and currently lead the Western Conference.
- 4:21Speaker 2: They also have shay Gilgess Alexander who was an MVP
- 4:25Speaker 2: candidate last season and could be up there as a
- 4:28Speaker 2: front runner for this season. But inexplicably, Craig way on
- 4:32Speaker 2: December twenty fifth, a day that features some of the
- 4:35Speaker 2: biggest and brightest stars and the best teams in the NBA,
- 4:39Speaker 2: the OKAC Thunder are not playing on Christmas Day. Instead,
- 4:44Speaker 2: you have the eight and sixteen Philadelphia seventy six ers,
- 4:49Speaker 2: who probably will not have Joel Embiid while he recovers
- 4:51Speaker 2: from a sinus fracture and a bruised ego. And then
- 4:54Speaker 2: you have the fourteen and twelve Los Angeles Lakers, and
- 4:58Speaker 2: you also have a thirteen and thirteen Spurs team.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I understand they have web in Yama.
- 5:03Speaker 2: So if you're gonna have Wemby and the Spurs playing
- 5:06Speaker 2: Christmas Day, why don't you have the best team in
- 5:08Speaker 2: the Western Conference playing? So I think it's the OKAC
- 5:11Speaker 2: team that is young. They know about the league and
- 5:15Speaker 2: how they don't do a great job of marketing the
- 5:17Speaker 2: younger teams and the smaller markets. I think tonight is
- 5:20Speaker 2: a statement game for OKAC, knowing they will not be
- 5:23Speaker 2: playing next Wednesday.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You know the answer to the question. Why are you
- 5:29Speaker 1: even posing the question unless you're doing it rhetorically. You
- 5:32Speaker 1: know as to why the Thunder would not be.
- 5:36Speaker 2: On They used to when Kadie and Russ played on
- 5:40Speaker 2: Christmas Day. They're always on the Thunder. Choose me they
- 5:42Speaker 2: would play on Christmas Day. So I just don't see it.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't understand they don't see Oklahoma City as drawing
- 5:48Speaker 1: television sets well.
- 5:49Speaker 2: For a league that is losing ratings and you're trying
- 5:52Speaker 2: to develop stars and players and teams and get people
- 5:56Speaker 2: interested in the league that is going to be without
- 5:59Speaker 2: Lebron James and Steph Curry and Katie in three or
- 6:02Speaker 2: four years, you need to market the younger guys and
- 6:05Speaker 2: the younger teams who are going to be playing into
- 6:08Speaker 2: June for most of the next decade.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Okay See is part of that.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Heck, I would even argue, why is it Houston on
- 6:14Speaker 2: Christmas Day? Why isn't okay See in Houston another game
- 6:17Speaker 2: on this Christmas Day? It blows my mind. The NBA
- 6:20Speaker 2: is failing Oklahoma City Thunder all right, But but go
- 6:23Speaker 2: with me on this and you know the answer.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Why.
- 6:25Speaker 1: First of all, the Knicks always play on Sure, New
- 6:27Speaker 1: York market understand that well. And the Knicks always play
- 6:30Speaker 1: on Christmas Day like the Cowboys do on Thanksgiving. The
- 6:32Speaker 1: Knicks play every year on Christmas. Now ABC is happy
- 6:36Speaker 1: to have them because they're in New York and the
- 6:37Speaker 1: New York market, so they're playing San Antonio, Minnesota, Dallas.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Dallas is marketable with Luca and they can do that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: And even Minnesota it's somewhat market.
- 6:46Speaker 2: But isn't that that's also a smaller market. Dallas isn't
- 6:49Speaker 2: so Minnesota is. Yeah, but it's at Dallas though. That's
- 6:53Speaker 2: the case why I can't, okay, see play at Dallas. Yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: that's I'll give you that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Philadelphia, Boston, it's East Coast, that's TV sets, as at
- 7:00Speaker 1: Golden State, that's Lakers, Leronry and then Denver and Phoenix,
- 7:05Speaker 1: while not big markets, have big marketable names, and Denver
- 7:08Speaker 1: is a recent champion. Those are the reasons I'm just
- 7:11Speaker 1: telling you. Those are the reasons. I don't agree with them,
- 7:13Speaker 1: but those are the reasons NBA should realize. Yeah, they
- 7:16Speaker 1: should have set up Oklahoma City to play like maybe
- 7:19Speaker 1: the Lakers or or Dallas or somebody else, to have
- 7:23Speaker 1: a good Christmas Day game so that folks could see
- 7:26Speaker 1: the thunder.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Even Memphis, Memphis team that is second in the Western Conference.
- 7:30Speaker 2: John Morrat, Now maybe Adam Silver is afraid that John
- 7:32Speaker 2: Mourrat was going to shoot up somebody on Christmas Day.
- 7:35Speaker 2: But the league again is just it's completely failing. You
- 7:37Speaker 2: have yeah, let's see, from the Western Conference, you have
- 7:41Speaker 2: three of the four current playing teams playing on Christmas Day.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You have a team not in the playoffs. Actually, you
- 7:46Speaker 2: have two teams not in the playoffs currently also play
- 7:48Speaker 2: on Christmas Day. So you have five teams out of
- 7:52Speaker 2: what ten teams on Christmas Day, we're either in the
- 7:55Speaker 2: playing game or out of the playoffs all together, and
- 7:58Speaker 2: they're playing on you quote, your biggest day of the year,
- 8:01Speaker 2: absolute travesty by Adam Silver, because they draw.
- 8:03Speaker 3: The biggest ratings, plain and simple, and the rates are
- 8:06Speaker 3: the lowest of all time right now.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So they're trying to bullster them with this,
- 8:10Speaker 1: but I agree with you.
- 8:11Speaker 3: They should have.
- 8:12Speaker 1: They should have had Oklahoma City in one of these
- 8:14Speaker 1: games playing set them up against the Lakers or against
- 8:17Speaker 1: the Celtics or whoever. You know that that's where I
- 8:21Speaker 1: think they should do it, if they're going to go
- 8:22Speaker 1: for that. All right, coming up, we talk college football
- 8:25Speaker 1: this Texas Clemson matchup. Don Nunson, the play by play
- 8:28Speaker 1: voice of the Clemson Tigers, joins us next here on
- 8:30Speaker 1: sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone
