- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Rider, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: There is a good chance that you know somebody who has a tattoo or maybe you have one yourself.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: What is the purpose of a tattoo?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Well, it's a way to mark your identity.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: A tattoo can be a picture, a name, a date, or a symbol.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Any of those things can be a reminder to yourself and to the world of who you are and what's important to you.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: But there's another kind of marking that can also define you, and that is your scars.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: A scar represents past trauma or brokenness, and it can be visible on your skin or it can also be stored inside your heart and mind where other people can't see it.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Your scars don't detract from your power as a writer.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Instead, the opposite's actually true.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: The scars enhance your power as a writer.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Stephen King said, a little talent is a good thing to have if you want to be a writer, but the only real requirement is the ability to remember every scar.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: So don't be afraid to let your scars show through.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Those wounds are part of your story.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: They are giving you life lessons that you could never have gotten any other way.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: So don't try to erase the scars.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Rather, embrace them as a powerful part of your story.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
