Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, as I mentioned the Glenty, we know that it
- 0:03Speaker 1: isn't happening this year. A mini Glenty well set to
- 0:06Speaker 1: take place, but as I understand, that's now been delayed.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Now joining us on the line to tell us a
- 0:11Speaker 1: little bit more about what the situation is. It is
- 0:14Speaker 1: Nick Pania's good morning.
- 0:15Speaker 2: To you, Nick, Good morning Codie, and good morning to
- 0:18Speaker 2: your listeners. Nick.
- 0:20Speaker 1: What's going on with the Mini Glenty? Has it been delayed?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Tell me about it. We've had nothing but forty eight
- 0:28Speaker 2: hours of I can I just say things that you
- 0:32Speaker 2: wouldn't expect come up to the point where we've had to,
- 0:37Speaker 2: with heavy heart, make a decision to postpone for a
- 0:40Speaker 2: couple of months.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Oh no, So, so when's it going to happen?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Well, we've come to the realization we're not immune to
- 0:47Speaker 2: the issues that are impact in the country in terms
- 0:50Speaker 2: of product supply, item supply lines, a number of factors
- 0:55Speaker 2: that are beyond our control. As recently as Monday this week,
- 0:59Speaker 2: we had wool Has come up with a public announcement
- 1:01Speaker 2: saying that to everybody to expect their shelves to be
- 1:05Speaker 2: still empty for a period of time because they're having
- 1:07Speaker 2: difficult filling their shelves up. Ironically enough, Woolies owns the
- 1:12Speaker 2: company that supplies us on most of our products arequenty. Yeah, right,
- 1:16Speaker 2: we have an issue. Yeah, you know, power generation from
- 1:21Speaker 2: the ground that we have, water sanitizations, the number of
- 1:25Speaker 2: other factors that we have logistically to run the show.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We've just got notification that they haven't come back from
- 1:32Speaker 2: other areas so we can put them on the ground.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So we've got issues in terms of hygiene and power
- 1:40Speaker 2: generation and water collections and a number of other things.
- 1:43Speaker 2: So it just seemed to be just a flow on
- 1:46Speaker 2: in the last forty eight seventy two hours has just
- 1:49Speaker 2: gone crazy.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well, I know a lot of people who are disappointed
- 1:52Speaker 1: to hear that Nick and will be wondering is it
- 1:56Speaker 1: still going to be able to happen with these supply issues.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Look, we believe will be fine for them. It's just
- 2:03Speaker 2: these are circumstances beyond control. There's delays, there's blowouts as
- 2:07Speaker 2: a number of factors. You know, we're just it's not
- 2:09Speaker 2: just us, it's Australia wide and we have to just
- 2:11Speaker 2: deal with the cards that are given to us. Yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 2: we're disappointed. Let me tell you, we've how many sleepless nights.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Have I had quite a few in the last seven days.
- 2:20Speaker 2: More so, haven't slept for three days thinking about what
- 2:22Speaker 2: we're doing, how the best solution would be, what can
- 2:25Speaker 2: we come up with and how best can we save
- 2:28Speaker 2: a situation? And more importantly, I mean, we put out
- 2:31Speaker 2: a product that supports all the community groups and businesses,
- 2:35Speaker 2: so we're not going to take it away from them.
- 2:38Speaker 2: We're just going to postpone it to a day that
- 2:40Speaker 2: we can fulfill on obligations and and expectations and to
- 2:43Speaker 2: deliver the best possible product we can deliver. And there's
- 2:47Speaker 2: no point putting out a half hearted effort and just
- 2:50Speaker 2: say that's what we've got to deal with. It's just unacceptable.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We're just not going to be you know, we can't
- 2:55Speaker 2: run a risk of damaging a great reputation of the
- 2:59Speaker 2: best festival and country in terms of Greek festival just
- 3:03Speaker 2: for the sake of putting on a show on a date.
- 3:05Speaker 2: It's just suicide. It's just it's just so we do.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Are you at the point where I mean, like it's
- 3:11Speaker 1: a really hard on because are you at the point
- 3:13Speaker 1: where where maybe you're just not going to be able
- 3:17Speaker 1: to do it? This year.
- 3:19Speaker 2: No, well not at that point. It just had to
- 3:21Speaker 2: be things that are beyond everybody's control. You know, we've
- 3:26Speaker 2: there's a double edged sword, and we stand right at
- 3:28Speaker 2: the very tip of a double edged sword. It's extremely sharp.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And the issue is we rely on a lot of
- 3:33Speaker 2: local factors and if they don't work and they're not
- 3:37Speaker 2: in sync, then there's an impact. If one falls off,
- 3:40Speaker 2: there's always a remedy for the one that's missing, but
- 3:43Speaker 2: you can't have multiples missing all at the same time.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And we're we're in a situation we just can't control that.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It wasn't foreseen, it wasn't planned, and it wasn't identified.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And the fact is that we're identified. Back in March,
- 3:55Speaker 2: when we decided to go ahead with this on assurances
- 3:57Speaker 2: that will be saved have come to fruition and and
- 4:02Speaker 2: then that's what it is. We just can't control a
- 4:05Speaker 2: lot of factors and that's and that's of logistical issue, Katie. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, I can't even been some of the words out.
- 4:14Speaker 2: It's tough appointment that we have faced.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, iber it is incredibly tough. Nick. I know, the
- 4:20Speaker 1: question that will be on everybody's lips this morning is
- 4:24Speaker 1: is there going to be a date when the Mini
- 4:26Speaker 1: Glenty is going to happen.
- 4:29Speaker 2: There is a date in place. We're making submissions today.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I've already made contact with the various stakeholders to say
- 4:35Speaker 2: we're going to be putting a submission in this morning
- 4:38Speaker 2: for the anticipated date. And we're just doing that right now.
- 4:43Speaker 2: So we're putting our safe work method statement together, we're
- 4:47Speaker 2: putting our management plan together, we're doing all the stuff
- 4:51Speaker 2: that we have to do administrative wy I were center
- 4:53Speaker 2: through to the relevant departments for approval and once we
- 4:58Speaker 2: get confirmation on the data veil ability and then we'll
- 5:01Speaker 2: make that announcement very very shortly.
- 5:03Speaker 1: All right, So won't reveal the date at this stage.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Still wait for that approval.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Absolutely, we need to have that approval. There's no point
- 5:11Speaker 2: publishing a date that you can't have because have other factors.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well mate, do keep us up to date. Let
- 5:17Speaker 1: us know. I know that everybody is going to be
- 5:19Speaker 1: keen to come along. And yeah, I know it's a
- 5:22Speaker 1: tough one, so tough for so many of our of
- 5:25Speaker 1: our festivals and different events that are trying to organize
- 5:28Speaker 1: and coordinate things, but particularly something like you know, the
- 5:32Speaker 1: mini Glenty because it is all the food and everything
- 5:34Speaker 1: else that you need.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Well, this is it now. Keeping in mind with we
- 5:40Speaker 2: do have some saving grace out of this. We're still
- 5:43Speaker 2: hosting an evening on Sunday at a venue to be decided,
- 5:47Speaker 2: which was decided, which is the Discovery. I still have
- 5:51Speaker 2: the international We have an international artist, one of the
- 5:53Speaker 2: best in Greece in the country at the moment, isn't
- 5:56Speaker 2: be performing on Sunday, so where we're going to have
- 6:00Speaker 2: him up on Sunday night, We're still going to have
- 6:02Speaker 2: him here. We're still going to have the Gwenty band
- 6:03Speaker 2: here which is his traveling musician, and they're going to
- 6:07Speaker 2: be performing at Discovery and one night only. And we're
- 6:10Speaker 2: still going to finalize those details with the venue, but
- 6:13Speaker 2: we're going to be hosting a Greek taverna night at
- 6:17Speaker 2: the Glint at the Discovery premises on the Sunday night.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Oh wonderful. Oh that is good to hear, Nick. I'm
- 6:23Speaker 1: sure that there will be plenty of people really pleased
- 6:25Speaker 1: to hear that. I always appreciate your time. Thank you
- 6:28Speaker 1: very much for having us a chat with us this morning,
- 6:30Speaker 1: and let us know when that date is. When it
- 6:33Speaker 1: gets rescheduled for Thank.
- 6:35Speaker 2: You, Katie, We will do that. Thank you for your time.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Thanks Nick,
