- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: Caden walking in the program this Thursday morning.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: My friend fresh off the two days of mandatory minicamp.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't rather do good.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go excited.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: Talks from football.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk some football.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Not no gossip to talk about this week, Caden.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: So that's good.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I will say,
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to murky the walters because you're down there every day as well, but I was thinking about it, you know, we only got four practices.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: But I, this offense was not good, man.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was not good.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was not good.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I want to take away two months of saying the, uh, just because they were bad.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: The spring doesn't mean they won't be home obviously.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: I put all the context, learn and new system guys are in and out.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: The Bante Smith isn't there.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: My guy lemons and opera Eli Stowers didn't do any.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it was rough though.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and not just not just the first string offense with what you own hurts, but
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: Tanner McKee and Andy taught it.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: Andy taught and thought was good like one one practice.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: One practice other than he was pretty rough as well.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think all the quarterbacks the word I use cadence was hesitant except for Andy.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: But when Andy, Andy makes quick decisions, but he's also gonna throw the ball no matter what.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, yeah, sometimes somebody's jump on the route, like Angry Thomas, I think, picked him off yesterday.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: The ball was inside on the sideline.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't play well.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: He had one good practice here, point.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: All the quarterbacks didn't play well.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: All of them, especially not a tanner.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not trying to pick on tanner but tanner
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: Rough spring.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and I think the hype has gone out of hand in the first place, but compared to like, even what we saw on preseason a year ago and sometimes when he's put in those regular season games, he just didn't look the same like I think he I love good now we had it and I don't know if this is true.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I had not heard that.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you heard anything of that.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't what you practicing.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's taking a spulver, if you have a toenail, they're going to say, sit this out.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's taking all his reps, whether they're the second.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: He finally got second team reps, 13 reps, full alignment.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: He just wasn't good.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's injury related.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: He wouldn't be practicing.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, I'm not going to dispute the report necessarily, but I'd find it very odd if they kept letting him practice if it was anything.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, even though it was general soreness and he needed to die.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: This is the time of year where nothing is you have a cough that is set it out.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: And if that report is true and he is her, and then I question why they're letting him practice.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'll just be a week ago.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: So that's interesting, but going back to the course, I thought Jalen, I mean, I don't think he particularly had a good spring, but I thought yesterday he had some encouraging throws.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: I know he had to pick the Tyric one who undercut, you know, like an intermediate route in the middle of the field of gotter and picked it off.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I thought the one through the don't even
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know a little played by Will and Will and that was a great point.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: I won.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was a tight throw.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he tried to force it in the gutter and will and read it and picked it off.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, what a great spring from then.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: But I thought her time.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: I started and don't even look yesterday where he kind of layered it over.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: She did a thousand.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: That was a really encouraging throw.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think he had like yesterday was a little better than the other days.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't great again, but I thought it was a little better.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: So I guess that's a sign of encouragement.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I counted three downfield completions, Kayden, and six, Tompaw's the Will Shipley.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, right?
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of it has been checked down.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think the downfield completion, some of them that he made were pretty, but overall, it's been a lot of the, you know, check down.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that maybe that's partly just to do with, and especially, yes,
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to want a Smith grass and a lot of more to get open.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, you don't have to want a Smith and the Kyleman and you're like, well, the first team was Wix more and Hollywood.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think yesterday was the first day, I mean, not the first day, but I think you see something with Wix.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think he can get open.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think he does have some, we're out running ability.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, I think there's, there's some luck with Wix is he's a receiver who drops the football.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you've even seen it in practice.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: He's babbled some passes.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: The one sign line catch yes, I think that he did it ultimately come down with that was a difficult catch.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to knock him to up or even some of the catches that he ultimately ends up pulling down he bobbles it initially and then also.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think that's a concern.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: I know the drops weren't down in Green Bay.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: last year, but I mean, his targets also went down at the same time.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to have to be a more consistent passcatcher to ultimately reach his potential, because I mean, they're high on his ability to grace separation.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you got Nick's a organic companion, comparing them to Keenan Allen.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: This, I don't know what's trying to laugh.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my lord.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's very loud.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: I was, I talked about that yesterday
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: burgeoning players.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, there's a chance, which turns into a pretty good player, but you know, he hasn't, he's got three years, you know, he's topped out at 39 receptions I believe with the Packers.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't think you should be comparing them to Mr. Third Down, who has been this dominant possession type receiver who just
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, is money on the most important down in football, I, I, I just don't think that help those expectations help developing players.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, not at all.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think that's the thing with which is like,
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest problem is he hasn't been consistent in spirit.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: Kina Allen was the definition of consistency if they're asked for it.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: They're polar opposites.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think you've seen flashers both on TV and Wix.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that Thanksgiving game against the Lions last year.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: I never even pulled down a touchdown.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: That was a really great catch.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you overall had a really good game against the Lions.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's had really good moments in his career where like,
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's got something here.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: You can tap into more, but it hasn't been fully tapped into.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: And part of that is because of the lack of consistency in the drops.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: And he wasn't able to get ahead of those guys in Green Bay.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't able to surpass Romeo Dobb from Jayden Reed or Christian Watson.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: I know those guys were all drafted earlier than him.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: He was a fifth round pick, ultimately.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: But like,
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think the expectations should be tempered.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think is there a chance he's a really solid number of three waters, Eva, and number three waters, Eva, and maybe a slight upgrade over Johan Dawson as a route runner and being able to get open more consistently?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a chance, but.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the key to announce the, I don't mean a lot.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, you know, even coaches, you know, they're just, we're trying to, we're trying to fill space here, you know, trying to fill space and I think you're trying to hype up his guide.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think John's right to, I think it has it sometimes a reverse effect of like you're setting expectations on a player, but whatever, Kate and what do you think the,
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: common denominator is that all quarterbacks are struggling.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: Is it just the implementation of a new offense, is Sean Manion not doing a good job of teaching it or the player is not as good.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: What what to you is to come and denominator for why it's looked consistently poor this spring.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think John used the word hesitant.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's fair to say, especially with sometimes with jail and especially with Hannah.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's holding the ball too long for letting it, letting it rip.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, honestly, and I don't know necessarily the cause.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: I just think they've all been pretty inaccurate.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, even sometimes when water severs have been coming open, coming back on like an outrout or something like, I know Jalen, I don't know, maybe it wasn't Jalen.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't want to say the court, but there was, there was one yes, or Danny Gray was wide open.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, whoever thought, I think it might have been Jalen, but just completely missed it.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, any Dalans has some really bad misfires.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think interception was a Dalton misfire because that, you know, that was probably there, but he threw it inside when he should have thrown it on the outside shoulder and it turns into an interception.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they've all been misfiring.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think hesitancy lack of accuracy and maybe it's because they're, you know, they're thinking a lot.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: They're still learning this new scheme.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think they've been
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's, there's been some times, or I think that if we're jailing has been testing the middle of the field a little bit more at times and sometimes, you know, I think that's led to some stuff.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, obviously there's been some stuff out there that isn't necessarily comfortable with that.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're pushing that more and I don't know.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to like read too much into the offense being bad in the spring because it is in this game.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: they are learning it like there's going to be some ugly moments and there has been some ugly moments.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's not to Zander's point, though, Kaden.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a chance because there's been so much Sean Manion high, but I think people have gotten over the hump already and they don't question that higher anymore.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, I'm starting to question it after this spring to be honest.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm like, all right, now I'm back in the mode of,
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't even have a position coach job until last year, and he only got that because Tom Climans, who's a legendary quarterback, coach, retired.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: And now he's the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, have we just turned the page on that too quickly as a group?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think so, nothing I sold this spring makes me concerned that Sean Man, you can't be a good offensive winner, that jail and can't run this system, that the offense is going to be like, I think it's just way too early to be.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, putting up a flag and be like, just because, you know, there are some ugly moments in the spring when they're still very early in the install and like a defenseers are always ahead of often, especially when you have a defense or so much chemistry and there's not as much chemistry of this year because there is no more age you're brown here in Davati missed a practice and like I lemon's been out and like, you know, I always just still develop like I don't think the offense is a complete picture yet.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: So when there's ugly days,
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to really read too much into the practice until we start seeing it first week of training camp during practice, then I feel like we could get more of a feel, but to come out of the spring because of what Jordan Myelot has said, or what laying Johnson said about Sean Manor, anyone else, and declare that he is going to be the world's best offense of coordinator, that he's going to be the next Kyle's hand ahead.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a little
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: premature and it's okay to still have some skepticism because he's never done this before.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's never run this system on his own.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I know Chris Cooper talked about how he's in Minnesota, he had his own playbook.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, it feels like he's been preparing for this job and that he is smart.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: But when you're calling the shots and they become live on game base in the NFL against defensive
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think we'll see how you adjust.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think there's a chance that he's going to struggle early on, especially as they implement this offense.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a chance jail in Hertz is going to struggle on early on.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, like we talked about earlier with Don TV and we're just getting these cops to clean it out.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks a little on fair to Sean Manion for everyone.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I get they want to hype them up and they want to make them feel good.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: And they want to make people believe in them.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: And they're trying to express that.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I get that from a player and coach perspective.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: to put all this pressure on him when most likely there's going to be some ugly periods during the season because he's a first time coordinator calling plates for the first time and the Eagles are running a new system and then when it starts to have a bad streak they're you know say he has two or three rough games everyone's going to be calling for his head and I was like in a sense that's a little unfair I mean it's his first time he might be a great coordinator he might be really good by the end of the year
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: But we don't know that yet, and I feel like it's fair to be skeptical.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I think he's entering with more expectations and hype than normal for a guy.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's kind of the hype thing again with King and Allen.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then he got Jordan my lot of calling him in the evil genius.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: And Jalen Hurts is going out there completing six of 14 passes.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: And an environment where you should be completing 12 of 14 passes.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's right, Elliot, I don't know, Elliot charts the statistics, but that's really bad in a practice environment when you're under 50% out of your point debonta is not there, a guy's not out there, we told you the first team receivers and who they were, you no longer have AJ Brown, but.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's all geared towards the offense.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: And while I say it now, I'm going to go to the positive, which is the defense, which has been lights out.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Requel and MVP, the spring for me, you know, he, that last series, there's the final series of many can't, where they didn't complete a pass.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the woolen interception, which was the brilliant play.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: Showed off his speed, his length, everything.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's just kind of peded, I would say, Jalen, how to sack if you're going to blow a dead and then a bunch of being completions.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: This deepens is look like a world beater.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now how much of that is, Yin and Yang of Molly and offense sticks, the deepens good.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: So ultimately, you got to say, you got to get to a point where
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the defense is really good.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they're not going to be the best defense in the history of football.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: And the offense is still good.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: And right now we have the offense was so bad.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: Does that kind of cloud how good the defense was?
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: Does that make sense?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I honestly, I think the offense is performance at once because they're putting in this need system.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, there's going to be some bad moments.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I think, you know, it's a really tough for this offense to go against this defense.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, maybe this offense would be looking better if they like the, you know,
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I mean, to pick on a military or a carnal defense other, maybe things life would be a little easier.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's no real past rush to try to evaluate those guys, but think it's even more impressive when you just get to watch a practice because there is no real you know, they're not bad or anything.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: They're not getting like, it's so impressive to watch the linebackers in the seconder.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the seconder has been awesome.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the spring and that's the part of the story when you get up at down field completion.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's an entire spring.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: Got that Cooper look better.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: And another point.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think Drew McCuba has, has looked good.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think the safes have looked fine.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, even when they've been throwing out, you know, Jeremiah, I mean, Jeremiah, Jeremiah, I try to junior might never get on the field.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: But he's the love that too, man.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's the voltage of the heart.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: He can hear all this distinctive.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a little, he's like, I shouldn't say a little, he's probably a little bit taller.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, he's he's exactly like the Kobe Dean, just instinctive always in the right place.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, some coverage limitations, but it's all aligned backers.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Let's be honest, um, he's good.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think he could be an NFL starter.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: I believe that you're in the Kobe Dino's going to say like kind of like a little bit like TJ Edwards, too, where he's just smart, where he's the same thing.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: But TJ, yeah, TJ is a little bit bigger.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, um, yeah, I love that you weren't here.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: I love TJ Edwards because I saw him grow up from
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: you know, undrapped at free agent to damn good player.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: And the whole, yeah, linebackers, more than any other position outside quarterback, I think it's about football IQ and natural instincts.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because, you know, we had Devin White here and Devin White's like the ultimate athlete, but he was never in the right spot.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, it doesn't matter if you run a four, four, if you take a false step,
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: where's your trotter or necobie or tj?
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you know where the play is going, all of a sudden you're 4748 turns into four or four.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think Luke Keakley's the best ever at that.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: If you watch old NFL films of Luke Keakley, and they got a miced up, he calls out every play.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, every play.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: And it's a general point with this defense is like they have a lot of smart football players, exact bonds really smart.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: Cooper Eugene is really smart.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: Quinnion is really smart.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know a lot of Quinnion is also technically refining.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's a really good athlete.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Tessa really well, and he cannot and that athleticism has translated.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: And he's just, he has all the gifts you want, but don't undersell his IQ.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he is an extremely smart football player.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: So they have a ton of football players.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: John Think Bernard is a really smart football player that they just added to his defense.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: So when he added, there's a lot of guys
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: ton of physical talent and they're also smart and they're also well-coached.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: You see it in practice and I think in almost clouds how the offense has performed because we go back to the secondary I mean, Jaylon and Andy in.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: Tanner, I mean, they've all struggled to a certain degree but then I'm watching practice and even the second string, the third string defenses with their line backers and the db's.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: Third not allowing much space.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, these water severs and
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: against this defense, especially at the first team unit.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Tyric Wands had some awesome reps.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know the interception was awesome, but some awesome reps against the Vante Smith.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: Same with Quinnio Mitchell when Devante was out there.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the entire secondary has looked really good.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: The linebackers have looked good.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: And this is before we could see this defensive line coming together.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: Now with John Thurganar,
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: and Nolan Smith and Joe.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: And then he had AJ Eponeza yesterday who, well, I'm not saying he's he's not like some all pro player, but he's a really good early down player that could be a versatile piece on your deal.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: I have some some size.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like this size.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now because they're undersized everywhere on on on on the edge, but he's like six four six five two seventy five like he's got legitimate size.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know if he's healthy.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's gotten with Cleveland failed the physical.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: Had a bunch of injuries last year.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: So we have to see what what what the house going on with Joe Triumph.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I haven't heard it into.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that was my first thought, those when they signed epiness.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Because they had the ability here to do it.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think in the case, it's like a solid player.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably like in that same tier of players, like epiness is, and I think epiness is a better player than Joe Tyron Shinika.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: My first thought is like,
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: Do they think Joe Tyron's shooting is not going to be on the roster this year?
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like do they, I mean, or I mean, I don't think he stops you from signing a player like AJ happened as if you think he's a better player and you think he's helping.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: It is weird though.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know why he's not.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't been out there.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think it doesn't vote well for Brandy Graham either, that AJ is here, but we'll see how that shakes out as well.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: Also the funny, since she brought up AJ, Michael Jordan, not the basketball player, but
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that tells me that they got to look at Miles Hinton and Mike of Morris and said, we better get some better instability here.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of surprised and took him that long because he was a rookie camp as a tri-op player.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe he just didn't want to go through all the
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: spring nonsense, um, but he started 45 games.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think that might be a guy who makes the team.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: You got to see how he looks, obviously, but I mean, they have nothing on the offensive interior when it comes to depth.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, that's a concern with even though Cam looks happy and jovial, fland and I saw land and out there, they look much, they don't look as miserable,
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: So you hope they're on the field all the time, but their history is their history.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: And you're probably gonna need somebody at some point to play.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was a good signing as well, Michael Jordan.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it makes sense.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think I wrote about that earlier this month after the draft when I looked at the roster, I was like, they're really thin on the interior off and so on.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I know Brett Toth got ripped through his time here, but I thought he played well last week.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he played very well last year.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: Very close.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: You lost that presence and he was like the one guy he had experience.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: He was your one veteran on the interior.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: Now he was gone and I know they're high on on Drew Kendall and I think it's the one young guy that they feel good about like they have something there.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: But that's just one backup interior offensive line that you feel like semi okay about but he's only got one game.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: one start, one start and then a meaningless environment, let's be honest.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: So even if you're high on them, you haven't seen them do it consistently in the NFL, so you can be high on them.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like his long-term development, but you need it another guy in there.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like a Jordan's played a lot of football I mean even last year.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean started close to double-jidgy games in Tampa I mean he started a lot of games in Skirts are a lot of games for the bangles early in his career No, I think he's been particularly amazing.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: I was like a starter But I'm asking him to be no the fill in the game here there for land and Dickerson or Tyler scene whoever if if injuries happen.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think that is a smart Move like you said.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean he's got to come and camp and prove that he can
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: you know, playing the system and play well, but like they had to make a move like this, honestly, out of, out even, add more veteran death that there was another guy out there that they liked because they need to get more veteran death.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure if Mike and Morris are miles hit.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: One, if they're going to be ready to play this year too, if they're going to even make this roster.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yeah, they're like round picks, they need more deaths.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I I grew, if you, I think that was the, the positive of the yesterday is like, Cam Durgens was so positive
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: That guy was miserable and I blame him.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, his back was probably in so much pain.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't want to talk to us.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, that guy was playing through so much last year and he was miserable, but the year before, I thought Cam was, you know, always pretty joyful and happy.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: That was more like the Cam's Urgans we saw in 2020.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we've got to see him play.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, doesn't mean he's going to come back and play well.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a sign that he feels well, we didn't get to talk the land in, but we'll talk to him.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure in training game, we'll see how he feels.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: That is the most important part of this season.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: These, the offensive lines, health and how they play.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: They're running this new outside zone scheme and everyone is so excited.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: I aren't excited about it either.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're excited about it.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: They really are.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not going to work if you're into your offensive lines being up and they can't block it.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: came during the talk of the scheme, less than used their athleticism a little more because of the angles and some of the stuff they had to do, the gist of these blocks are set some of these runs off, and they were able to do it in practice a little bit, and no context.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to over-hype it, but like if those guys are banged up, you're not going to be able to do what you want, and this outside zone stuff is not going to work, and the scheme they want to run is
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: and they have to play really well this year.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's saying the only thing, the offensive line and weren't excited about boy, Chris Cooper works them in.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: Woo!
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's a different...
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: The tempo is different, and I was watching Drill's the other day with Barrett, Barrett Brooks, and G-Cob, and I was like, it was Lane's first day, so it was the first day.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, Wayne wishes he could do this on Zoom because you know, it's stout, stout's awesome, but uh, you know, he would sit and take a rep and then he teach and it was slow.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: It was, it, you know, there was a lot of teaching on field teaching and Chris Cooper's the, the opposite.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, obviously, he's got more of a chip Kelly mode where it's, let's get as many reps in as possible.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then it'll go look at the film and try to teach from that.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, maybe they did a good thing for this offensive line this year coming up with the tempo is really different like speed the wolves general in the light feed the wolves.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's got to be different.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Chris Cooper, I think talked about himself.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to be a different guy than Jeff Stout on the he comes from a different back on he can't try to be what Jeff Stout on was to these.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: to these players.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he is so different in terms of personality.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like, you know, Statlin had a little more, honestly.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm not behind the scenes, so many of Chris Cooper is this guy.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: But Statlin always was a little more like emotional and a little more.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Chris Cooper seems like he's all business.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's all business.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: very locked in and like it's a very different approach, like you said, but the guys seem to be responding well to them.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think he mentioned, you know, some of the guys, you know, they text them about certain stuff in this game and your response and some of the reaching out to him, Cam Durgens and Lane, and then they both were spoken about excitement, at least about this new scheme that they're running and what it can do for the offensive line.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I think
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: They knew I think it's and I think that's I'm with you.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: I said that earlier in the show to me, you know, they'll erase a lot of the other issues that they're a top five offense of line again.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the other stuff will take care of itself.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's a chance I can happen because these guys are invested.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the most, there's not many positives coming out of the spring for the offense.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's the positive I came up with those guys seem excited and invested.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And these guys are full of pride.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you have drawn to my a lot of.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's been an all-per-laying Johnson.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's been an all-per-laying Dickerson.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's been a proble.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: It came Durgan to us.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to call him proble last year, but the year before he put at a really high level in 2024, they have a lot of pride.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: And they know, I mean, and I said last year, last week they played to, I mean, there's been a little too hard, but they didn't play to their standard last year.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: They were now.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: I best they were mediocre.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: I would say that, and that's just being kind, and I think they know that, and I think they know they got stagnant in terms of the scheme, and I think they know they didn't perform well last year for the most part, and they're motivated.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is a line that's considered on paper one the most talented, and they didn't play up to that expectation, and there's a lot of reasons for that, and it
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: If you have a motivated offensive line who was born into this new scheme and these guys can get healthy, I don't see why not, you know, let's see why they're not, you know, top five unit.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: Again, and if they are, I agree if your race is a lot of problems, it makes jailens life a lot easier, they could be more unpredictable if they can run the ball consistently, and that sets up the play action game.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: The run game is the key, and the run game is good.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: It creates a lovely offense.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: It buys passing offense more time, as well, especially if it's going to look different.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: It buys jail in more time.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the key.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: Can they run the ball well earlier in the year?
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: And can that buy Sean Manion in jail in herx time?
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: You kind of go through the wrinkles of this new passing offense and work out the kinks.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's definitely the run game and me last year guys the offensive line wasn't up to par, but they were like the second or third graded in past protection offensive line in the league depending on where you look so the head AJ Brown, they had a good pass blocking offensive line and they still couldn't throw the ball up.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to come down to the run game once again.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: This year, Kate, and I'd ask you, what's your perspective right now on the overall roster?
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't think the Eagles have made moves like a team like the Rams who've added, you know, Trent McDuffie and Miles Garrett, obviously, too, and already good roster.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: But where do you see the Eagles roster right now?
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: I know there's a couple spots that they're looking to improve, maybe safety being one of them.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: What's your perspective right now on the roster as a whole?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I still think.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: This is one of the best rosters in the NFL.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's as goes to Rams obviously, after what they did to get Miles Garrett, Trent McDuffie and those guys this all season, but the starting defense, I think it's up there with the best in the NFL, top five.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think safety's the only real concern, but I think they can really like,
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: cover a lot of that up like I think mark a steps or my quarter if they have to play you know a nickel I think they can cover a lot of you know potential problems up and I think they can just be averaged okay and every player in the defense is going to be amazing but the if if Jihad came what comes back and he's healthy and I think that's the big question if he if he takes a nut the next step was jackpot and you're gonna have
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: an elite linebacker do are very close to it.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: You have an awesome defensive line that's pretty deep now.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think, I suppose you have to add the addition of Quinard, you knock in a Nolan Smith for jail, it's hunt down in the rotation.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: You add happiness or you have the evicating.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: If a deep defensive line in your secondary has the chance to be one of the best in the league, at least at the corners.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's the best clue.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they can be.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: And, and.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: I would add Jonathan Jones, man.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: They got a big time back up corner now.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: Where you think about, and they started cross-training in and at Nickel now, and he's done that the past.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he got a big time.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: He might be the top back up at every single position.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and he didn't play the depths better.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like, for example, in like last year, they had to play a Dory Jackson.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it would have been ideal if he was like your Jonathan Jones last year.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: Now he knocked him to quarterback four.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to play Keely Ringo.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to play Mac McWilliams, whoever that young corner would be at the injury happens.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_02]: So he feels better about that.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's still really good about the defensive depth overall.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I already talked about Trotter, I'm back, or like, I feel like if you
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: had a plight, you would play pretty well.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think the biggest question with this team comes with this offense and it's the offensive line health with land and Dickerson and Cam Durgens.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: And as it is, the does my Kyleman can he be a good number two water seever?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like can he be close to like what the vante Smith was as a rookie and it's hard to say that after he missed the spring because we didn't get to see him and can Dante the in which
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: round out his game and be more consistent, can Dallas got her stay at the same pace or can he can he get having even better year than he did last year?
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think the offense is the biggest question mark with the new scheme and the schemes aren't part of it, but I think overall on paper I mean you still look at the offense, I mean they have safe one barkling, advantage Smith and Dallas got her still very good.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I think the roster overall is pretty good.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: There are some questions
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: on paper, this is still one of the best rosters in football.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: And then now is the question is, can this can the scheme maximize it, can certain guys stay healthy?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: And if they can, and the scheme is good, and Dickerson stays healthy, and came to her going to stay healthy, and if the scheme can maximize yellow and hurts, I mean, it could be one of the best teams of the league and get, but it's a lot more what ifs with the offense.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: So that's not how I'm at right now.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: No doubt about that.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: At Caden underscore steel 19, make sure you follow Caden on the X platform and J dot com.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: You can read all his stuff there has done a tremendous job with us breaking down the spring of the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: So over, we've turned the page late July, they'll be back for training camp, hopefully the foundation takes by then in sticks, but I'm like, yeah, I, you know, I guess we'll leave it there with Jalen's press conference, got asked a bunch of tough questions.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of turned them
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I thought he answered, and I thought the most important part was, yeah, he did push back essentially last year.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: He said it in jail and spashing, but they didn't practice any of this stuff.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: In midseason, they said, oh, we're going to do this.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: And jail was like, there's no time on task.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: In a lot of ways, I defend them with that because I agree with them.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, why you're running
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now, and he's got a full spring and will have a full summer and it should be better from that standpoint.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: It should be, and I think Jalen is really intentional about his messages and whatever he talks.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't think he ever says anything without a purpose.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then the first press conference was Sean Manion.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: One of his first statements, he says that Sean Manion had all the answers for me.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think Jeff McLean might have asked me a question about going under center more.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't remember the exact frame he had, but one of the things he wanted about that, you know, going under center more, he wants to know why they're doing it.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: And why this is going to work.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: there has been some hesitancy from him with Jalen with the past coaching staff on why they're doing this, why they're making this adjustment now, and what's it going to do for the offense?
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that is clear that there has been some pushback from him, but you can't blame them, there's been so much turnover here.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: He wants to be comfortable.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he doesn't know why they're
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't think that's a negative, like, what are we loves, Caden?
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: Orderback doesn't want to be comfortable.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand why people make a big deal out of that.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, I think you're right, John.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, obviously, you want to be comfortable.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: But there's expectations coming out of that or natural here.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let's wrap it up with Caden.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think you dropped off there.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: We got him back.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're muted out, Kate, but no, just your final thought, brother, we have a couple minutes left here.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Your final thought here.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think the final thought is I think there's plenty of reasons to be encouraged about this team overall from from the defense being the number one reason and how awesome I think they're going to be this year.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a lot of things that we can over-hype and
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's one of them, I think they proven it the last two years and another year in big scheme.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's every reason to believe that they're going to be awesome.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: And when it comes to this offense, I think there's still a reason to feel hopeful.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: And also skeptical, I mean, for skeptical, you don't believe I kind of understand to some love on.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think you should be
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: fully balled into the shaman and like let things play out, but I think there was an ugly spring from the offense, but it could get better.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a reason to believe in the jail and hurts hasn't done a lot of this stuff in this in this career before that he could potentially do it because the one thing I think about jailing is, and I've said this over and over again is, I don't know if I can say there's, I don't know from a football perspective,
