- 0:00Hey, my friend, have you ever wondered how to pray against spiritual attacks?
- 0:04Because perhaps you have a dark cloud kind of hanging over your head and the adversary is whispering, you are too broken or unworthy to even approach God.
- 0:13Ugh.
- 0:14This is so hard and so common because sometimes you feel completely disconnected and the adversary's favorite tactic is to try to get you to stop praying altogether.
- 0:23Well, take heart, my friend.
- 0:24You are in the right place.
- 0:25And by the end of today's episode, you'll know three powerful keys.
- 0:29First, the secret grammatical link that activates the armor of God.
- 0:34Two, how to pray effectively on the run during a chaotic day.
- 0:38And three, how to use a powerful verse in Hebrews to boldly shatter imposter syndrome that keeps you from God's throne of grace.
- 0:45Stay tuned.
- 0:46Ordinary women, extraordinary faith.
- 0:51When God calls, we say yes.
- 0:56Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 0:59I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:01Andersen, and I am thrilled to have with me fellow mother, author and speaker Tiffany Fletcher, as we teach you how to convert the power of prayer from a passive outline to an active protective shield.
- 1:13All right, my friends, let's dive in by looking at the ultimate warning given by the Savior during the most high stakes spiritual conflict in human history.
- 1:23In Mark, chapter 14, verse 38, while standing in the shadows of Gethsemane, Jesus looked at his exhausted disciples and issued a protective command.
- 1:35Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
- 1:38The Spirit is truly ready, but the flesh is weak.
- 1:42If prayer is the exact thing that carried Christ through Gethsemane, it is the exact mechanism that will carry you through through your heaviest battlefields.
- 1:54In fact, you can turn this exact verse into a prayer by saying something like this.
- 1:59Dear Father in heaven, help me be watchful and prayerful today against the attacks of the adversary and temptation.
- 2:08Help me be ready and God strong, drawing on the strength of Jesus when I feel weak.
- 2:15All right, my friends, now let's turn to Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 18, where after Paul teaches about the armor of light and putting on each and every piece, he closes with this, praying always with all prayer and supplication
- 2:30in the Spirit.
- 2:31Listen as Tiffany opens up the foundational link between prayer and your spiritual armor.
- 2:38I love that scripture in Ephesians and I.
- 2:40I wanted to talk about that for a minute.
- 2:42So as a writer, I love grammar.
- 2:45Like when I was in college, my grammar teacher said that he'd never given gave an A to anyone in grammar, but he gave one to me and he told me it was my mission in Life to come back
- 2:54and take his job.
- 2:55Because I was the only one that was good at grammar and loved grammar as much as I did.
- 2:59Right.
- 2:59I love looking at what grammar means.
- 3:02And so when you read that scripture about the Spirit, which is the word of God, if you look at that verse, there is a semicolon there, or what a colon is.
- 3:12A colon, sorry, not a semicolon.
- 3:13And because the dictionary says it so much better than I do, I want to share what a colon is.
- 3:19A colon in a sentence is used to introduce a list, explanation, or elaboration that follows a complete thought, essentially signaling that what comes after it is directly related to the preceding statement.
- 3:35It indicates that the information following the colon is further clarification or detail about what came before it.
- 3:44So when you think about putting on the armor of God, that colon means that there's more to it.
- 3:50Like, a lot of times we just stop at that one verse and we're like, okay, we've got all the weapons on.
- 3:55But in this verse, Paul's saying, no, this is probably the most important part.
- 4:00This is what comes after and is directly related to what's before.
- 4:05Because all of those things that we put on, they're ineffective if we don't pray and call down the powers of heaven to use them correctly.
- 4:15Because it is not the armor and the weapons that shield and protect us.
- 4:19It's Jesus.
- 4:21And if we don't invite him in, he's not going to be able to come when we need him.
- 4:28Because Jesus is never going to force himself on anyone.
- 4:31We see that in the Scriptures.
- 4:33He invites people to come to him, come to Me.
- 4:37And so it is up to us to invite him in.
- 4:40And that is what prayer does.
- 4:42It's powerful, powerful.
- 4:43It yokes us to him in such a way that that armor that we're putting on becomes a true shield and protection for us.
- 4:51Because Christ plus anything equals wholeness.
- 4:56And that is why prayer is foundational to everything else, my friends.
- 5:02I 100% agree with Tiffany on this.
- 5:06Without prayer, armor can just be empty iron.
- 5:09So prayer is power.
- 5:11But what happens when a spiritual attack is so heavy or the grief that you're feeling is so exhausting, the emotions so intense, that you don't even have words to pray when you are in that silent wilderness and your
- 5:27brain just doesn't have.
- 5:28The words lean heavily on Romans, chapter 8, verses 25 and 26, which reads, likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, which, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself Maketh intercession
- 5:44for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
- 5:47And he that searches the hearts knoweth what is in the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
- 5:57Oh, my goodness, you guys.
- 5:58This is one of the roles of the Holy Spirit to make intercession.
- 6:02And when I looked up the word intercession, here's what I found that it means is the legal action of intervening or pleading on behalf of.
- 6:10Of someone else.
- 6:12So when you are under heavy spiritual attack and you don't know what to say, you can simply lay your emotions out before the Father and say, lord, I don't have the words tonight.
- 6:25Please let your spirit plead for me on behalf of me.
- 6:30And then the Holy Spirit will take your wordless groans and translate them perfectly.
- 6:36The God and Father of us all straight into his mind and heart and soul.
- 6:42He hears you and he knows you.
- 6:45Oh, my friends, knowing that the Holy Spirit is pleading for me changes everything and can change everything for you too, and your posture on the battlefield.
- 6:54But remember that the enemy's ultimate goal is to cut off your communication with God.
- 7:00Listen.
- 7:01As Tiffany exposes the devil's favorite tactic to try to silence us.
- 7:06A very busy and packed schedule.
- 7:09Sometimes we even feel like, what's the point of praying, right?
- 7:13Like, because nothing's going to change.
- 7:15And I've realized in my own life that when I start feeling that feeling, I know it's the adversary, right?
- 7:21Like the scriptures even say the Spirit teaches people to pray, but Satan, he teaches people not to pray, right?
- 7:26He does not want us to have that connection with our Heavenly Father.
- 7:30And so when I find those moments where I.
- 7:33I just feel angsty or just have this dark cloud of sorrow or, you know, anything hanging over me, the first thing that I pray for, I cast Satan's influence out.
- 7:43I just say, heavenly Father, please cast Satan's influence, influence out and bind him, keep him away from me, and send your spirit and your angels to surround me so I can feel your love, your spirit.
- 7:56And I will know what words you need me to do to move forward.
- 8:00And then I find that that clears my mind, like.
- 8:02And sometimes there really is a physical feeling, this just whoosh, gone.
- 8:07And then like the light of love descending upon me and just helping me realize, okay, and then really pray from my heart with the Spirit.
- 8:18Those are the prayers that I walk away from knowing that I've been heard.
- 8:23And if the things that I want to happen in my life aren't happening in my life, it's because it's not time yet, or it's because God's got a different direction for me, or it's because there's lessons that I
- 8:35need to learn before God can give them to me.
- 8:39And I think pray always is really hard.
- 8:41I mean, it would be impossible, especially for us as mothers, to pray all the time, every day, every minute.
- 8:47There's so many other things that we need to do with our life, right?
- 8:50I think he means that we need to turn our heart to him.
- 8:53So a lot of days I pray on the run, right?
- 8:56Like, I'm like, God, I've got to get somewhere.
- 8:58Please protect us.
- 8:59Please protect the car.
- 9:00Please get us there safely, right?
- 9:02God, please help me.
- 9:03And praying on the run, sometimes that's really what God wants us to do.
- 9:08Pray while we're doing the dishes, while we're driving the kids to school.
- 9:12Pray while we have a moment in the bathroom sometimes, right?
- 9:15Like, that's what he means.
- 9:17He means pray always and everywhere.
- 9:19Just connect with me.
- 9:21Pray and I will be there.
- 9:23And that is the power of prayer in our lives.
- 9:26This strategy of casting out on the run is an absolute game changer, my friend, for any of us.
- 9:33Because the moment we fall short as parents, the moment we lose our tempers or make a mistake, the adversary loves to launch an accusation loop that kind of whispers in our minds that we are far too unworthy to
- 9:47ever approach God in prayer again.
- 9:49When the enemy uses your imperfections to try to spiritually lock you out of praying, I invite you to immediately draw your scriptural sword and Deploy Hebrews chapter 4, verse 16, which reads, Therefore let us come, come boldly unto
- 10:05the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
- 10:12Notice that this verse commands us to come boldly.
- 10:16The devil wants you to believe that the throne room is a place of condemnation, but God explicitly calls it the throne of grace in this verse.
- 10:26We come to that throne to claim mercy for our past mistakes and grace for our future battles.
- 10:35Grace is the divine power, the unearthed strength Jesus Christ can pour into our souls to help us stand up and stand firm against the wiles of the devil.
- 10:47You don't approach the father because your parenting record is perfect.
- 10:51You approach him because you are yoked to Jesus Christ, and with him you become perfect or complete.
- 10:59To help you learn to recognize the adversary's attacks better and pray with greater faith and power, we want to give you our A Mother's Spiritual Defense Guide 6 Empowering Steps to Fortify Home and Family and it's free at

- 11:19We have formatted the exact script of Tiffany's Cast out, the Adversary prayer that she mentioned into a pocket sized mobile guide that you can use and save on your phone for use at any time when the adversary attacks.
- 11:33So my friend, never forget that you are a woman warrior of light, that Jesus is the captain of your soul, and that with him beside you, you can stand firm and stand tall against the fiery darts of the
- 11:45adversary.
- 11:45And until next time, may you arise.
