SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Kim, your regenerative wellness and skin expert.
• 0:09
SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy to introduce Jennifer Townsley from the Aesthetic Lab.
• 0:13
SPEAKER_00: She's out in Bucks County, PA.
• 0:16
SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna let her introduce herself.
• 0:18
SPEAKER_00: Thank you for coming today, Jennifer.
• 0:20
SPEAKER_00: Thanks for having me, Kim.
• 0:21
  SPEAKER_00: Hi, everyone.
• 0:22
SPEAKER_00: So you went from the ER to owning the aesthetics lab, and you're also the CEO.
• 0:29
SPEAKER_00: You wear a lot of caps.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_00: You're the CEO, you're the founder, you're there treating patients.
• 0:35
SPEAKER_00: And you started out from the ER, but you had a big road in between.
• 0:38
SPEAKER_00: So let everybody know about yourself.
• 0:40
  SPEAKER_01: I did, sure.
• 0:40
SPEAKER_01: I was in medical sales for 19 years.
• 0:42
SPEAKER_01: The last seven years of my career, I was the Botox and Juvederm rep at Allergan.
• 0:47
SPEAKER_01: I was their business development manager.
• 0:49
  SPEAKER_01: Loved my job.
• 0:50
  SPEAKER_01: Very stressful.
• 0:50
SPEAKER_01: That was a very stressful job.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_01: Um, but I I did love and like the injecting portion of it so much.
• 0:57
SPEAKER_01: My time um best spent that I enjoyed day in and day out is when I was with my providers and we were doing trainings.
• 1:03
  SPEAKER_01: I loved it.
• 1:05
SPEAKER_01: And I just felt so unfulfilled in my life.
• 1:08
SPEAKER_01: So I was like, you know what?
• 1:10
  SPEAKER_01: I could do this.
• 1:10
SPEAKER_01: I know I can do this, and I know I could probably do it better too.
• 1:13
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 1:14
SPEAKER_01: So at 40 years old, I went back to nursing school.
• 1:17
  SPEAKER_00: That's a jump.
• 1:18
SPEAKER_01: It was that's not easy.
• 1:19
  SPEAKER_01: It wasn't easy.
• 1:20
SPEAKER_01: Uh it was so difficult.
• 1:22
SPEAKER_01: Um, I did an ABSN program through Wilkes University.
• 1:26
SPEAKER_01: It was 11 and a half months.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_01: I worked full-time while having children doing it.
• 1:31
SPEAKER_01: It was so stressful, but I am so happy that I did it.
• 1:35
SPEAKER_00: Where did you find the time?
• 1:37
SPEAKER_00: Because now you have a full-time job.
• 1:39
SPEAKER_00: You have a second full-time job raising your family, and now you take on a full-time school program.
• 1:44
SPEAKER_00: Did you ever sleep during that adventure?
• 1:47
  SPEAKER_00: No.
• 1:47
  SPEAKER_01: And I still don't sleep.
• 1:49
SPEAKER_01: But um, no, it was.
• 1:50
SPEAKER_01: It was a lot of early mornings, um, getting up early at the crack of dawn, going upstairs to my little third floor study area, studying, then getting the kids up and ready, getting them to school, then going out, pounding the pavement, um, seeing customers, trying to get my sales in, meeting that, you know, like three million dollar botox quote every quarter.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then coming home, you know, all the activities, and then going straight upstairs and studying.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_01: And then the weekends were when I did my clinical.
• 2:17
SPEAKER_01: So it was a really intense year, but uh I made it through.
• 2:21
  SPEAKER_01: We all survived.
• 2:22
  SPEAKER_01: There's lots of tears.
• 2:24
SPEAKER_01: I bet a lot of mental breakdowns, but I but I did it.
• 2:27
SPEAKER_01: Um, and then afterwards, you know, I was so lucky because I was the BDM and I know everybody.
• 2:33
SPEAKER_01: Um, I had an in in the industry, which is very hard.
• 2:35
SPEAKER_01: We can definitely talk about that part later.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_01: Um, but I was all set up with a job injecting at an awesome place called Bam Aesthetics in Bluebell.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_01: Um, Beth Ann took me in and under her wing, which was great, but I knew I wasn't gonna have a book of business.
• 2:50
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_01: And I always felt like I had this calling in medicine.
• 2:53
SPEAKER_01: Like I I I never say regret because you you can't, I don't want to say that, but I wish I would have gone into medicine earlier.
• 3:00
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I understand that.
• 3:01
  SPEAKER_01: I just wasn't my journey.
• 3:03
SPEAKER_01: Um, but I was like, you know, I'm not gonna have a book of business.
• 3:05
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, let me get some experience in, you know, in real nursing.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_01: Um I felt like it was gonna make me a better injector too.
• 3:13
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 3:13
SPEAKER_01: Um, and I was like, I signed up.
• 3:16
SPEAKER_01: Uh, I got hired at Jefferson Evington Hospital, done in uh right outside the city, and I'm an ER trauma nurse.
• 3:23
SPEAKER_01: And I still am an ER trauma nurse at night for funsies.
• 3:26
  SPEAKER_00: So I can't even love it.
• 3:28
SPEAKER_01: I can't even like an adrenaline junkie.
• 3:31
  SPEAKER_01: That's a whole other show.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_01: We can talk about all my ER stories and everything that I've seen.
• 3:35
  SPEAKER_01: Definitely.
• 3:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we will definitely have to get back together on that.
• 3:39
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 3:39
SPEAKER_01: So, but that was how I got to be a nurse injector.
• 3:43
SPEAKER_01: So I did both simultaneously.
• 3:46
  SPEAKER_00: It's incredible.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really I take my hat off to you because just raising a family on its own is a full-time dedicated job with so much worry and so much care and all of your soul and all of your heart, and to still stay true to the passion and the calling that you had to move forward and and have your family also be accepting of that.
• 4:04
SPEAKER_00: These are all rare things to click together.
• 4:07
  SPEAKER_00: So that's what I'm hearing.
• 4:08
SPEAKER_00: I'm hearing dedication, I'm hearing passion, and I'm hearing just a lot of love uh split up into different ways.
• 4:14
SPEAKER_01: Yes, and I'm very lucky that I had a family that was really supportive, and my kids were little, and you know, I I hope not just for them too, but I also have some of these younger people too.
• 4:23
SPEAKER_01: I think so many people are afraid to go back to school later in life and change their career.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_01: It's never too late, everybody.
• 4:29
  SPEAKER_01: You can do it.
• 4:30
SPEAKER_01: I know it's really hard, but you can absolutely actually you don't have to sit and suffer.
• 4:36
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 4:36
SPEAKER_01: Um, I think a lot of people do and be miserable.
• 4:38
SPEAKER_01: And I was, I wasn't unhappy and I was very in the filled, and I feel so much better inside now.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm I'm glad that I could be hopefully a role model to my children, but other people out there too.
• 4:49
SPEAKER_00: I love that you share that because I personally am friends with and uh have patients that have had a lifetime very successful career with one office or one job or one corporation.
• 5:02
SPEAKER_00: And when you talk to them, even though they're wildly successful, they really either don't like it or to the point where they hate it, but they're vested, they're you know, getting closer to retirement, they've dedicated themselves to this and they feel trapped.
• 5:17
SPEAKER_00: Like they can't, they just they're stuck there for life and they just don't like it.
• 5:21
SPEAKER_00: And to me, that's tragic.
• 5:23
SPEAKER_00: I feel like I feel so badly for these people, you know?
• 5:26
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 5:27
SPEAKER_01: Well, it's funny because all at the same time with this, too.
• 5:30
SPEAKER_01: My husband was also in aesthetic sales.
• 5:32
SPEAKER_01: He's been a laser rep, he sold like you know, every device under the sun.
• 5:35
SPEAKER_01: And again, another show for him you should talk to.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_01: He's got stories and everything.
• 5:39
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
• 5:40
SPEAKER_01: But again, he he didn't feel fulfilled, and we decided to pivot at the same time, and we end up buying a business called Living Care Home Services, which is in co um in home care.
• 5:51
SPEAKER_01: So I'm also the vice president and the nursing director for that company, too.
• 5:54
SPEAKER_01: So add that to my list of things that I do.
• 5:58
  SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I don't sleep.
• 5:59
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely not.
• 6:01
SPEAKER_00: But you don't look like it, you certainly don't like your age, and this is a perfect testament to what you want to see.
• 6:07
  SPEAKER_00: You look naturally beautiful.
• 6:08
  SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
• 6:09
SPEAKER_00: Uh, you definitely look younger.
• 6:11
SPEAKER_00: So, what you're doing, what you're providing, and your philosophy over at the aesthetics lab, to me, 100% working.
• 6:18
SPEAKER_00: And when I'm looking, or or in the past, when I was looking for a local uh provider that could do the things that I didn't have available out of my own clinic, you're the type of person I'd be looking for.
• 6:31
SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about the overwhelmed patient with the millions of bits of information that you get body slammed with on a regular basis, from the internet to social media trends to even walking through the stores, and there's 10,000 products on the wall.
• 6:46
SPEAKER_00: And even if you're savvy enough to be able to turn around and understand active ingredients, there's 10,000 who has the time to do this.
• 6:53
SPEAKER_00: So when you have an inquiry, however they come to you, whether it's a DM or a phone call or whatever from a potential new patient, uh, what is your best advice for the overwhelmed patient?
• 7:02
SPEAKER_00: How do they dig through all of this noise to even try to find someone such as yourself as a provider, first and foremost?
• 7:09
SPEAKER_01: So many products, so many devices.
• 7:11
SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, the latest one that I'm getting from everybody is the new like Zurf machine.
• 7:15
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, Jennifer, Zerf, Zurf, Zurf.
• 7:17
SPEAKER_01: What do you what do you know about it?
• 7:18
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, uh, come in, we'll have a conversation.
• 7:21
SPEAKER_01: And I and I think that is the where I shine and where I build good relationships and I have a good reputation is sitting down and having a good consultation with people with patients.
• 7:33
SPEAKER_01: Um, I get a lot of my business from referrals.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I think it's helpful for other patients when they've had a friend who's had a good experience with a provider, be like, well, where do you go?
• 7:43
SPEAKER_01: Who do I know to trust?
• 7:44
SPEAKER_01: I think sometimes it's starting with a f a good friend who's had a good experience, and then that way when they get to me, it's a lot easier to kind of get weed out all the noise with them.
• 7:53
  SPEAKER_01: So-and-so says, You're wonderful.
• 7:55
SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna let me you do anything crazy to me.
• 7:57
SPEAKER_01: What do you think about this?
• 7:59
SPEAKER_01: Um, and uh I do.
• 8:01
SPEAKER_01: I spend a lot of time on my consultations um because I think people really deserve it.
• 8:06
SPEAKER_01: All this stuff is really expensive, yes, you know, yes, and it's expensive to be a hot skinny patch.
• 8:13
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, absolutely.
• 8:14
SPEAKER_01: You know, when you want somebody to kind of lead you down that that right path and everything.
• 8:19
SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think having open and really honest conversations too with people, um, and I think it, you know, people can get really uncomfortable having to tell a patient, like, you know what, I might not be your best option.
• 8:32
SPEAKER_01: I think at this point, you know, you benefit more from a a surgery than, you know, an injectable or a device.
• 8:39
SPEAKER_01: Um, but I I think that's what we need to do with patients.
• 8:42
SPEAKER_01: You you need to listen to a good provider um what they said that we're not miracle workers and everything.
• 8:48
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 8:48
SPEAKER_01: Um I'm good at what I do, but I, you know, if you're expecting a facelift, I can't give you a facelift.
• 8:53
SPEAKER_01: I understand absolutely and I tell people that too.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_01: And I think that sometimes it's hard for people to hear that.
• 9:00
SPEAKER_01: I always say that in a very kind and gentle way because I want people, people's uh uh expectations in this industry are yes.
• 9:09
SPEAKER_00: I blame that on social media too because you know the cuts are like here's my before and then here's my after, and they don't explain anything about that crazy journey in between, and sometimes the very long journey in between to get to that after and what they look like, and then so many of the afters are filtered, yeah, and uh so a lot of them are AI'd now, and it's very unrealistic to what that person looks like in real life.
• 9:32
SPEAKER_01: I think too, like on making sure people understand like it's a journey, it this doesn't happen overnight, some of these transformations.
• 9:40
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 9:40
SPEAKER_01: Um, especially when it comes to skin.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, injectables, again, I love injectables.
• 9:45
SPEAKER_01: I'm an injector, um, and they do tend to provide you more of that instant gratification.
• 9:50
SPEAKER_01: Um, but when it comes to skin, it's not a one and done or overnight.
• 9:55
SPEAKER_01: You have it's a it is a journey and a process, and it's hard for people to understand that.
• 10:01
  SPEAKER_01: Yes, you know.
• 10:02
SPEAKER_00: And like you said, you have to educate your patient.
• 10:03
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take a moment to jump in and let our viewers know.
• 10:06
SPEAKER_00: I love that Jennifer mentioned Zurf because you should tune into our Zurf versus Soma Cell episode.
• 10:14
SPEAKER_00: Uh, we only stick to the science, it's not salesy, it's not smoke and mirrors, and then you can judge for yourself.
• 10:20
SPEAKER_00: So I did a very deep dive directly with the company, went, was invited to, brought my staff to the New York City recent training.
• 10:28
SPEAKER_00: And I am always very quiet because as a CEO and founder of Soma Cell, which is a truly non-invasive therapy to lift and tighten your skin, um, I was astounded with uh with the hijinx of the company behind Zerf with what they're doing with their marketing and advertising, is just believe me, it's an episode you want to go check out.
• 10:52
SPEAKER_00: Because as an educator, yeah, as a provider, and as a potential patient on all three, I was just shocked and dismayed.
• 11:01
SPEAKER_00: And I'll leave it at that.
• 11:02
SPEAKER_00: But with Soma Cell, um, it's truly non-invasive because it's the first time I brought I brought it in, yeah.
• 11:08
SPEAKER_00: Uh, three and a half years total of RD.
• 11:11
SPEAKER_00: It's the first time we can truly say in skincare for lifting and tightening, we have something that's reparative and regenerative.
• 11:18
SPEAKER_00: It's not thermal controlled wounding.
• 11:20
SPEAKER_00: There's no heat involved whatsoever.
• 11:23
SPEAKER_00: So there's truly no downtime, there's truly no pain, and there's no sun withdrawal time, which means all Fitzpatrick's any time of the year.
• 11:29
  SPEAKER_00: It's not a facelift, it's not neurotoxin.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_00: But you're going to work on connective tissue, that's the FDA clearance, and it has a radiating effect up through the skin cells.
• 11:39
SPEAKER_00: Um, so you are working on foundational layers, but you're also benefiting it on your face.
• 11:45
SPEAKER_00: And I know at the aesthetics lab, you're not just an injector.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_00: You're not just an injecting location.
• 11:51
SPEAKER_00: You do wellness, uh, you do weight management, and you do full aesthetics, and they all tie together.
• 11:57
SPEAKER_00: So I would love to have you check out Soma Cell and get your honest feedback, especially because you've been at all these different levels of the industry.
• 12:06
SPEAKER_00: Because I know with uh your experience with Allergan as a business development manager, that is just that's huge.
• 12:13
SPEAKER_00: That's a whole different level than just being an educator.
• 12:15
SPEAKER_00: So I really value your opinion moving forward.
• 12:18
SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm really looking forward to checking it out.
• 12:20
SPEAKER_01: I mean, skin tightening is everybody is looking into skin tightening.
• 12:24
SPEAKER_01: And there are so many products out there that don't work.
• 12:29
SPEAKER_01: Again, at some point you got to meet my husband, Dan.
• 12:31
SPEAKER_01: He can tell you all about the smoke and mirror behind the lasers and devices out there.
• 12:36
  SPEAKER_01: It's it's crazy.
• 12:38
SPEAKER_00: Um and like lately I'm seeing, and I feel so bad for the general uh potential patient because when you go on social media, I'm seeing a lot of a new trend with laser providers, individual offices, but also certain companies of which I will leave remained unnamed, that are like skin tightening, skin tightening, do your laser resurfacing.
• 12:59
SPEAKER_00: And we both know laser resurfacing is for texture.
• 13:02
  SPEAKER_00: Yes.
• 13:02
SPEAKER_00: It's not for lifting and tightening.
• 13:04
  SPEAKER_00: And we're, I'm just like, what?
• 13:06
SPEAKER_00: How did this become a new thing?
• 13:07
  SPEAKER_00: Like, stop.
• 13:08
SPEAKER_00: You're you're really just this whole message to to the potential patients, they're really not gonna understand what they need at this point.
• 13:15
  SPEAKER_01: Not at all.
• 13:15
SPEAKER_01: And I also uh, too, when patients come in, I again there has to be the honest conversations and in the reality too.
• 13:22
SPEAKER_01: Um, listen out there, okay?
• 13:24
SPEAKER_01: If you can pick a chip clip and put it behind your neck because you're trying to hold everything back, no device is gonna fix that, okay?
• 13:31
  SPEAKER_01: Like it's a necklift, guys, okay?
• 13:33
SPEAKER_01: When you're doing this, that's a facelift, you know.
• 13:37
SPEAKER_01: So you just have to be careful, you know, and with and be realistic with your expectations and where you are in your aging process, too.
• 13:46
SPEAKER_01: There are great devices out there.
• 13:48
SPEAKER_01: Uh looking forward to trying the SMSL to see, you know, what kind of tightening and regenerative uh work that we we can get from a patient.
• 13:55
SPEAKER_01: But you know, I'm always realistic too.
• 13:58
SPEAKER_01: Like this is where I'm I'm at my journey, this is where you're at in your journey, this is what can help you.
• 14:02
SPEAKER_01: And you know, and that's fine.
• 14:03
SPEAKER_01: Not everybody wants a facelift in surgery.
• 14:05
SPEAKER_01: And I but I think that's part of like my consultation with the patient.
• 14:08
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 14:09
SPEAKER_01: You know, where are you at?
• 14:10
SPEAKER_01: Are you somebody who you think in the future will get surgery or like, hey, that is never to be for me, and that's totally fine.
• 14:17
SPEAKER_01: But you know, these are the tools that I have in my toolbox, and this is how far I can take you.
• 14:23
SPEAKER_01: Um, I I try so hard to set realistic expectations with patients and stuff because I want them to be happy.
• 14:29
SPEAKER_01: And absolutely, and you know, and then all this stuff is like I said, it's expensive to be hot and skinny and everything.
• 14:34
SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I I want people just to be happy with realistic expectations.
• 14:38
  SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
• 14:39
SPEAKER_00: And I love that you take that philosophy and you built it into the fiber and the core and like every brick uh of the aesthetics lab.
• 14:48
SPEAKER_00: So again, Jennifer and the aesthetics lab is not just an injecting clinic.
• 14:53
SPEAKER_00: So please, when you research, yes, you can get expert injectable guidance there, but there are a host of other treatments that they provide.
• 15:03
SPEAKER_00: And um, you've done all your research on each lane.
• 15:06
SPEAKER_00: So you're doing weight management.
• 15:07
  SPEAKER_00: Yes.
• 15:08
SPEAKER_00: Um, I am a firm believer in longevity and how everything is tied together.
• 15:13
SPEAKER_00: Quite frankly, I'm always a little bit surprised naively.
• 15:16
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 15:16
SPEAKER_00: Now, when there's still patients of every age group that will come to us and don't understand that what you put in shows up on your face and your stress levels and your hydration and everything we're doing shows up on your face and they don't make that connection.
• 15:31
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 15:31
SPEAKER_00: So uh so with your weight management, um, explain that to me.
• 15:37
SPEAKER_00: Are you just doing GLP ones?
• 15:39
SPEAKER_00: Is uh how else do you tie that into that patient journey?
• 15:43
SPEAKER_01: So I do offer the weight loss medications.
• 15:47
SPEAKER_01: Um, I I take weight loss very seriously.
• 15:50
SPEAKER_01: I think that a lot of people in this industry, especially a lot of med spas out there, it's been a quick money grab for people.
• 15:55
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
• 15:56
SPEAKER_01: And I really take it serious.
• 15:59
SPEAKER_01: Again, I think it's part of like being an ear nurse, I guess, and being in medicine.
• 16:03
SPEAKER_01: People all think this stuff is all candy.
• 16:05
SPEAKER_01: Same thing, like peptides are like now peptides are all the rage.
• 16:08
SPEAKER_01: Um, I think they have a place and and value, um, but they're not candy every they're not candy, everyone.
• 16:14
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 16:15
  SPEAKER_01: It's medicine.
• 16:16
SPEAKER_01: And you need a provider that's gonna sit and talk to you about that.
• 16:20
SPEAKER_01: Um I started weight loss right out of the gate when I became an injector.
• 16:24
SPEAKER_01: Um, and again, I spend a lot of time in my consultations because I want people to be really successful and be able to keep off the weight too.
• 16:32
SPEAKER_01: I I don't want people to feel like they have to be on these drugs their whole life.
• 16:36
SPEAKER_00: My biggest peeve is the problem with exempic face, ass, everything else, because these clinics are just throwing the drugs at you.
• 16:45
SPEAKER_00: They know the higher the dose, the more money they make.
• 16:48
SPEAKER_00: They're not monitoring you throughout your weight loss journey, they're just hitting you with these super high doses straight out of the gate and keeping you up there, and all of a sudden you're anorexic.
• 16:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and all your skin is falling off and all your muscle is gone.
• 17:01
  SPEAKER_00: And they're like, Well, I don't know.
• 17:03
SPEAKER_00: Uh, talk to me about that.
• 17:04
SPEAKER_01: Okay, let me tell you.
• 17:05
SPEAKER_01: So I, when I was back in nursing school, kind of let myself go a little bit, you know, the stress, my cortisol levels, and I gained some weight.
• 17:14
SPEAKER_01: Wine, the wine didn't help either.
• 17:15
  SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie.
• 17:16
  SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm not sleeping.
• 17:18
  SPEAKER_01: I'm not sleeping.
• 17:19
SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I gained some weight, and then like I I couldn't get it off.
• 17:22
SPEAKER_01: Like a lot of people, and now I'm older, I'm 40, 41 years old at the time, right?
• 17:26
  SPEAKER_01: And I started a GLP one.
• 17:29
SPEAKER_01: I lost 30 pounds on it, and by the end of it, I looked horrific.
• 17:35
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 17:36
SPEAKER_01: Like I lost muscle, I lost my hair, I was losing my hair.
• 17:39
SPEAKER_01: I'm sure some of it was from stress too.
• 17:41
SPEAKER_01: Um, it just was not a great experience, but it gave me that experience that why I'm so passionate with my kind of my weight loss patients.
• 17:51
SPEAKER_01: Everything that happened to me, I did not want to happen with my patients, and that's why I spend so much time with them.
• 17:56
SPEAKER_01: Um I am a firm believer in going low and slow.
• 18:00
SPEAKER_01: I do not up your dose.
• 18:02
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I applaud that.
• 18:03
SPEAKER_00: That is definitely the way.
• 18:05
SPEAKER_01: If I can keep people at the low like as low as possible, I will try to keep them there.
• 18:09
SPEAKER_01: Um, and I love being able to see my patients every month and being able to control that dosage and not have those automatic jumps that we have in the traditional dosing with big pens and everything.
• 18:19
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 18:20
SPEAKER_01: I'll do the small little increments at a time.
• 18:22
SPEAKER_01: The Ozempic face and the hair loss and that stuff, that comes from people who are dosing so aggressively.
• 18:28
SPEAKER_01: Um, and the Ozempic face and the that that doesn't need to happen.
• 18:33
  SPEAKER_01: That can be prevented.
• 18:35
SPEAKER_01: Um, it does not need to happen to everybody, and it's because people are just being too aggressive and they're not being monitored.
• 18:39
SPEAKER_01: I actually get quite a few number of people from weight loss programs online.
• 18:45
SPEAKER_01: Um and I'm glad to take them in.
• 18:48
SPEAKER_01: I'm glad to step back, reeducating them.
• 18:50
SPEAKER_01: Um, because it's always a means being like, you've been on this, but you have no idea, like, and it's no wonder why they've lost too much weight or not enough weight or losing their hair.
• 18:58
SPEAKER_00: Um so you see them with skin reactions because they didn't, they had no idea they were supposed to rotate their injection sites.
• 19:05
SPEAKER_00: They just remember the commercial with the woman that's like, Yay! Yeah, exactly.
• 19:10
SPEAKER_00: And you're like, oh, well, let me re-educate you, as you said, on this entire process.
• 19:16
SPEAKER_01: And on the flip side, too, as an ER nurse, what I've seen come into the ER because of it.
• 19:21
SPEAKER_01: I just had a patient, um, it's like Friday Memorial Day weekend, and I was up in triage, and she's had a reaction.
• 19:27
SPEAKER_01: She was on um a like an ozempic, you know, semi-glutide drug, and Sean stopped covering it, switched to trisepatide through an online pharmacy.
• 19:37
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I heard that was bad.
• 19:38
SPEAKER_00: Like you're not supposed to do that, right?
• 19:39
SPEAKER_00: Jump from semaglutide to trusepatite and back and forth.
• 19:42
SPEAKER_01: No, you're you shouldn't go back and forth, but you can make the jump from one to the other under you know the guidance of a medical professional.
• 19:48
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 19:49
SPEAKER_01: But again, she went to some you know online company.
• 19:51
SPEAKER_01: They you send her out a vial, she draws up way too much, and now she's dehydrated, has pip uh palpitations, she's like extreme nausea.
• 20:00
SPEAKER_01: Uh it's it's just an ER, like it just it's a nightmare for both as an ER nurse and as an aesthetic nurse.
• 20:07
SPEAKER_01: And you know, I I and you know, I had another patient one time too.
• 20:10
SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, some got the vial sent, had a friend draw it up, drew up too much.
• 20:15
SPEAKER_01: I mean, nobody should be, none of these patients should be touching their like medications and drawing up their own.
• 20:20
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
• 20:20
SPEAKER_00: This is not you and I like going to Sephora and checking out the makeup counter together.
• 20:25
SPEAKER_01: I mean, and I think they no, it's not, as well as people sharing medications.
• 20:29
SPEAKER_01: Oh, we got a vial and we split it.
• 20:31
SPEAKER_01: Now they're diluting their dose.
• 20:33
SPEAKER_01: I I mean the stories that I I've the things that people have told me, it's it's frightening.
• 20:37
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
• 20:38
SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think it's a great medication, but we just have to be responsible in how we're we're dulling it out.
• 20:44
SPEAKER_01: And I think there are too many places, you know, med spas and clinics that are again, it's a quick money grab.
• 20:50
SPEAKER_01: And done the right way, you could have a great result, and you can keep the weight off too.
• 20:54
SPEAKER_01: Um, I I think part of the keeping the weight off too, um, again, goes back to my consultations and caring for patients.
• 21:01
SPEAKER_01: I always like to start with, well, how do we get here?
• 21:04
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 21:05
SPEAKER_01: How do we get here?
• 21:06
SPEAKER_01: Um, and and having honest, open, tender conversations about that.
• 21:11
SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean I've had situations where I've had people lose weight and still be unhappy.
• 21:18
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, you just lost six pounds this month and you should be like thrilled.
• 21:23
SPEAKER_01: But they're like, no, they're like the food, like it's it's it's there in my head, and it is.
• 21:27
SPEAKER_01: There are there are the people who are the emotional eaters and used it as a crutch.
• 21:31
SPEAKER_01: And they thought like this drug was gonna be magically take that nonsense that's been going on in their head away.
• 21:36
SPEAKER_01: So I like to kind of nip that in the bud first.
• 21:39
SPEAKER_01: Like, how do we get here?
• 21:39
  SPEAKER_01: Because guess what?
• 21:40
SPEAKER_01: I can help you lose the weight, but if you have some things inside of you that you need to work on, that that's not gonna go away.
• 21:45
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 21:46
SPEAKER_00: Maybe you should get counseling at the same time.
• 21:48
SPEAKER_00: So, like, we will say something in um at IT intelligent treatment in my clinic in the city.
• 21:53
SPEAKER_00: Uh uh everyone in my clinic stays in their lane, just like at the aesthetics lab.
• 21:58
SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, my doctor.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_00: From the doctors to all the way down to the aestheticians and back again, we'll will remind you during those consultations that, like you said, if there's other issues, there's emotional issues, uh, something going on that's stuck in your head mentally, we would suggest that we can do things to combat your skin laxity, potential skin laxity with somacil at the same time.
• 22:24
SPEAKER_00: We're starting your GLP1, but you should seek out possibly some therapy at the same time.
• 22:30
SPEAKER_00: So you're addressing all these issues together.
• 22:32
SPEAKER_00: And it sounds like that's exactly what you're doing.
• 22:34
  SPEAKER_01: 100%.
• 22:34
SPEAKER_01: Whether it's that, also too, I encourage people to nutrition is it's so important.
• 22:38
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 22:39
SPEAKER_00: A lot of like people are Oh wait, you're not supposed to run out and use this as an ideal pizza beer immediately afterwards.
• 22:45
SPEAKER_01: You're like, no, that's the reason why I'll see people in the ER because they think that they can go out and binge drink and eat crappy food, and then you next thing you know, they're having pancreatitis.
• 22:54
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 22:54
SPEAKER_01: You know, so I you know, it's there's a lot that goes into the into the VS weight loss medications.
• 23:02
SPEAKER_01: And again, I'm all for them.
• 23:03
SPEAKER_01: It just we have to do it the right way and be responsible as providers.
• 23:06
SPEAKER_00: Can you explain to patients, um, just like very quickly, let's just go down a hit list of doesn't matter if it's a semi-glutide or if it's trisepatide, your classic potential side effects.
• 23:18
  SPEAKER_00: Uh, what are they?
• 23:19
SPEAKER_00: Because like for myself, I know you know it could be diarrhea, it could be constipation, like you said, nausea, but I'm gonna let you as the super expert there run down that list.
• 23:28
  SPEAKER_00: Sure.
• 23:29
SPEAKER_01: With both drugs, you can have pretty much all the same symptoms.
• 23:33
SPEAKER_01: Um, most people, constipation versus diarrhea, but some people can have diarrhea.
• 23:37
SPEAKER_01: Uh, nausea, nausea can be consistent throughout, or you know, within that first 12 to 24 hours, um, you could have, you know, it delayed gastric emptying, which is good because it does make us feel full longer, but then could also turn into gastroparesis where you have almost like no motility left, which is not a good sign whatsoever.
• 23:57
SPEAKER_01: Uh rare though, same thing with something like pancreatitis as well.
• 24:00
SPEAKER_01: You usually see that with people who are going out and binge drinking, binge binge eating fried foods and stuff and having one of those attacks.
• 24:08
SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, yes, hair loss, muscle waste, muscle wasting can happen.
• 24:12
SPEAKER_01: But again, we truly see that on those people who are being dosed very aggressively and everything.
• 24:19
SPEAKER_01: Um, dehydration can be one of them as well, too.
• 24:22
SPEAKER_01: So we always say to patients, make sure you're upping your water intake and everything.
• 24:26
SPEAKER_01: So there are your common side effects.
• 24:29
SPEAKER_01: I will say I think that more people have more side effects on the semiglutide versus the trisepatide.
• 24:36
SPEAKER_01: And I do have more people coming in and they hear that and they're wanting the trisepatide.
• 24:41
SPEAKER_01: Um, how do I pick which drug patients go on?
• 24:45
SPEAKER_01: So I've had great success with semiglutide.
• 24:48
SPEAKER_01: It's, you know, that's your traditional uh GLP one.
• 24:52
SPEAKER_01: Um cost is definitely a factor for people, it is less money than a trisepatide, and I've had good success.
• 24:58
SPEAKER_01: So I typically start somebody on that, especially if they only need to lose, you know, that last five to 10 pounds.
• 25:03
  SPEAKER_01: It's it's great and everything.
• 25:05
SPEAKER_01: Um, so I typically start a lot of people on that.
• 25:07
SPEAKER_01: And your semi-glutide, that's the active ingredient for your Ozempic and your Walgovie.
• 25:14
SPEAKER_01: Then the trisepatide, that is your Zepowon and your manjaros, that's the active ingredient in that.
• 25:19
SPEAKER_01: I will typically tend to pull that for patients who do need to lose a lot more weight.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_01: It is that dual agonist.
• 25:25
  SPEAKER_01: It's a GLP1 and a GIP.
• 25:28
SPEAKER_01: Um, so it just a little bit more power and punch.
• 25:31
SPEAKER_01: Um, if we have to kind of have a, I know we're gonna have a little bit longer road ahead of us and everything.
• 25:36
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I do think there is less side effects typically with that one.
• 25:41
SPEAKER_01: I've had some better uh success.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'll go, I'll I do offer both.
• 25:46
SPEAKER_01: And now there's a third one, but it's not FDA approved, but it's all over on the internet, and I have people calling me all the time for the one that's out in California that everybody seems to be on.
• 25:56
  SPEAKER_00: Dr.
• 25:56
SPEAKER_00: Dubrow was talking about that recently about the wolverine peptide blends and the uh reptile.
• 26:02
SPEAKER_01: Is that what it's rhodottide?
• 26:04
  SPEAKER_01: There you go.
• 26:05
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's your other weight loss one.
• 26:07
SPEAKER_01: So people call it like G3, just no, most people are just calling it rhetoric right now, but it's triple agonist.
• 26:14
SPEAKER_01: It's your GLP1, your GIP combined with the glucagon.
• 26:17
SPEAKER_01: So it's targeting three receptor sites.
• 26:19
SPEAKER_01: It is not FDA approved at all for weight loss, but people are getting their hands on it.
• 26:25
SPEAKER_01: Um, have I tried it myself?
• 26:27
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, without me.
• 26:28
SPEAKER_00: But you're a professional and you're trying to address it.
• 26:32
SPEAKER_01: I mean, with all these peptides, I mean, I think they have a lot of they there are benefits, but we don't have solid science and research, I think, to be just just handing them out like handy.
• 26:45
SPEAKER_01: You know, I think we have to be really uh careful and very responsible and everything.
• 26:50
  SPEAKER_00: I agree with that.
• 26:51
SPEAKER_00: And I actually uh doing research, especially recently into different kinds of peptides, I'm definitely a believer.
• 26:58
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 26:58
SPEAKER_00: When I look at what everyone is doing overseas, and I mean everyone as far as professional providers that are educated in what they're providing, uh I see that there is a beautiful way to incorporate this for longevity, which also means your beauty, uh, aging with grace, um, aging with mobility and thriving throughout your life.
• 27:19
SPEAKER_00: Uh, but I'm also alarmingly hand in hand at the same time seeing so many posts on social media about people self-dosing with peptides.
• 27:28
SPEAKER_00: Like, where are they getting them from?
• 27:30
SPEAKER_00: Are these the ones that are on that hit list of FDA that are not approved right now for here?
• 27:35
SPEAKER_00: Uh, talk about that with me, please.
• 27:37
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know it's scary.
• 27:38
SPEAKER_01: I had a back when I was opening up the aesthetics lab, I had, ironically, it was a nurse's son that reached out to me.
• 27:44
SPEAKER_01: I got your name through my dad.
• 27:45
SPEAKER_01: He says you could hook me up with peptides.
• 27:47
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh my God.
• 27:48
SPEAKER_01: I was like, well, hold on a second.
• 27:50
  SPEAKER_01: I was like, yes, I'm a like I'm not a pusher.
• 27:53
  SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I'm not a drug pusher.
• 27:55
SPEAKER_01: Um, I was like, listen, I go in the middle of taking a peptide course.
• 28:00
SPEAKER_01: I do not feel comfortable at this point offering it to any patients.
• 28:03
  SPEAKER_01: Be patient.
• 28:04
SPEAKER_01: You know, I'll keep you on my list.
• 28:06
SPEAKER_01: Well, this person was not patient and he found random stuff on the internet and then calls me and he's like, Can you help me?
• 28:11
  SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, no, I can't.
• 28:13
SPEAKER_01: I have no idea where you source these from.
• 28:15
SPEAKER_01: You know, they all need to be reconstituted in a certain way.
• 28:17
  SPEAKER_01: I have no idea.
• 28:18
SPEAKER_01: He's like, okay, I'll throw it out.
• 28:19
  SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, it's smart decision.
• 28:21
SPEAKER_00: So explain to the viewers um reconstituting it.
• 28:24
SPEAKER_00: Like everybody thinks they just buy this vial off of the internet and go and get diabetic needles and go to town with it.
• 28:32
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 28:33
  SPEAKER_00: And no.
• 28:34
  SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
• 28:34
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 28:35
SPEAKER_01: Each pharmacy and each peptide has different reconstituting um guidelines and everything.
• 28:41
SPEAKER_01: So um, when we talk about reconstituting, what does it mean?
• 28:43
SPEAKER_01: So usually when you get like a vial, same thing with like Botox and your neurotoxins, they almost look like there's nothing in the bottle.
• 28:50
SPEAKER_01: And then we with neurotoxins, we use bacteriostatic saline to rehydrate the product.
• 28:55
SPEAKER_01: And there's specific FDA dosing for each of those products.
• 28:59
SPEAKER_01: Now, with your peptides, it's very similar.
• 29:01
SPEAKER_01: We use bacteriostatic water for that.
• 29:03
SPEAKER_00: So you need to get bacteriostatic water and non-expired and legitimate guaranteed, that's what it is.
• 29:09
SPEAKER_01: Yes, they all have different guidelines, and each company has a different guideline.
• 29:14
SPEAKER_01: So people are like, I don't know what I'm doing.
• 29:16
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I can't help you because I don't know what that company's protocol and their guidelines.
• 29:21
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 29:21
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 29:22
SPEAKER_00: You don't even know what is in that bottle.
• 29:24
SPEAKER_00: Are they guaranteeing what is on the labels inside that bottle?
• 29:28
  SPEAKER_01: 100%.
• 29:28
SPEAKER_01: So, you know, with the peptides, I I definitely think they work.
• 29:31
SPEAKER_01: And I've heard people like, oh, they don't work.
• 29:33
SPEAKER_01: And you know why they don't work?
• 29:34
SPEAKER_01: Because they are not under the guide of a physician.
• 29:38
SPEAKER_01: As well as the other big problem with peptides and why they won't work is that they're very expensive.
• 29:44
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 29:45
SPEAKER_01: So then people aren't in the right way, and so they're not getting the full benefit.
• 29:50
SPEAKER_01: Um, and that is a huge issue.
• 29:53
SPEAKER_01: And since, you know, I've, you know, I give my I do peptides with my husband at him, he's like so in the health and fitness and wellness and everything, and he's been doing this for a while, and he for a long time was doing it with somebody else.
• 30:04
SPEAKER_01: And he goes, Um, what a difference doing it with you because you have me doing it the right way.
• 30:09
SPEAKER_01: And it really came down to like a cost thing, and that is a factor with people, and they don't realize if you with these peptides, it is it's a commitment.
• 30:18
SPEAKER_01: Yes, you know, you're doing it, you know, you're injecting yourself every day, or maybe you're on a five-day stint off two days, you're on an eight-week cycle, then you're off.
• 30:26
SPEAKER_01: There is a lot that goes into these peptides, but they can work, they just have to be done the the right way.
• 30:31
SPEAKER_00: And for myself, when I was doing uh my own deep dive very recently within the last six months on specific peptides, I was very impressed and very surprised to see that they're all different as far as like you're not supposed to inject these peptides at the same time as those.
• 30:49
SPEAKER_00: Uh, these should be in the AM.
• 30:51
SPEAKER_00: These should only be at night before you go to bed.
• 30:53
SPEAKER_00: There's ones that you can take during the day at any time.
• 30:56
SPEAKER_00: And also um the depth of your injection.
• 30:59
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 31:00
SPEAKER_00: So how are you injecting these at what angle?
• 31:03
  SPEAKER_00: I was like, wow.
• 31:05
SPEAKER_00: So you need a professional that's educated on this, not just like somebody that's licensed and like, hey, I got peptides yesterday, want to come in today?
• 31:12
SPEAKER_00: Like, no, there is a whole education that needs to be behind this.
• 31:15
SPEAKER_01: There is, and that's why I said to the category, I'm not comfortable.
• 31:18
SPEAKER_01: I, before I do anything, like I need to be able to master this.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_01: And I'm not at that comfort level yet, because there is a timing, it's very important.
• 31:27
SPEAKER_01: And how you're stacking these peptides together is very important and can hurt you, not you know, be a benefit to you and everything.
• 31:34
SPEAKER_00: Yes, and your peptides are not gonna be the same as mine, as the same as the next person.
• 31:39
SPEAKER_00: And my peptides this month might not be the same peptides or the same sequence three months or six months from now.
• 31:45
SPEAKER_01: It's overwhelming, I think, for the average provider, let alone for patients, you know.
• 31:50
SPEAKER_01: So you just gotta be you gotta go someplace that is reputable.
• 31:53
SPEAKER_01: Please do not buy anything online, guys.
• 31:56
  SPEAKER_01: Please.
• 31:56
SPEAKER_01: You need to be followed by a a provider and everything.
• 32:00
SPEAKER_00: So, with the aesthetic, if we had to put it down to like um just a bullet point.
• 32:04
