- 0:28answers about to the meaning of life.
- 0:30These are some join The Revivalists that let's search
- 0:33for some answers in searching for answers to the meaning 923
- 0:37join the revivalist said to them all and let's search whoever
- 0:39wants to be my disciple must deny them. 923 take up their
- 0:43cross daily said to them, Follow me, whoever.
- 1:13Hey, welcome everybody. Today is Monday, July 27th, the
- 1:19year of our Lord 2026. We are live, live back in each
- 1:24of our own respective home offices, studios, whatever we
- 1:28want to call. Them I am on the throne.
- 1:33I see that you are very well guarded dude.
- 1:39Good job. Hey, and so folks, that is a
- 1:43brand new intro video. Well, not quite brand new, but
- 1:47it definitely sounds new. We'll have to tweak that.
- 1:53I've been thinking about tweaking it for a while now that
- 1:55I have my spiel down about what The Revivalists are you want to
- 2:01hear because I practice it so many times this past Friday and
- 2:05Saturday. And what your your elevator
- 2:07speech? My elevator speech for the
- 2:10Revivalist radio show. Please proceed.
- 2:14We are a veteran ministry geared towards moral injury, healing
- 2:19and recovery, and we are putting God as the true north on the
- 2:25compass for moral healing and recovery.
- 2:31And I get, I, I always get lots of like, wow, that is so needed.
- 2:38That is so needed. I, I'm bringing this up because
- 2:41I wanted to tell you about a divine appointment I had as I
- 2:47was leaving the conference where I was, where I was at, I was at
- 2:51the, the, the Department of Veterans Affairs was having a
- 2:56women veterans summit for the Southwest network in San
- 3:03Antonio, TX. So I, I, you know, I was
- 3:06peddling by seriously, I was peddling recruiting for
- 3:11participants in my doctoral study was the main reason why I
- 3:14went down. Here's this last person as I'm
- 3:17going out the door and you know, still I've got one last flyer.
- 3:22Are you interested in participating?
- 3:25Right. One last one.
- 3:28And she said yes. And I said, oh, by the way, I'm
- 3:31also a radio show host. And I started going above this
- 3:34shows and when I talked about the revivalist radio show, she
- 3:40had tears of joy in her eyes. So this is a woman who is 70
- 3:47years old and she is still working full time.
- 3:51She's a traveling nurse and she has she participated in the
- 3:58Haiti hurt was earthquake recovery.
- 4:03She deployed and LED field, you know, nursing staff to Haiti.
- 4:09She's done a whole bunch of other things.
- 4:11And when I talked about the, you know, moral trauma side of
- 4:17things, the, you know, the, the very thing that we talk about
- 4:21with DSM 5 on the show and moving that needle towards
- 4:25healing and recovery, she goes, Eva, I needed, I needed to hear
- 4:32this, if if for nothing else, all weekend long.
- 4:35I needed to hear this because I've been carrying a lot with me
- 4:39all these years. She got goosebumps on her arms.
- 4:43It's like I got goosebumps on my whole body right now as I'm
- 4:47explaining this story. So there are a lot of people,
- 4:50males and females, who are holding a lot in.
- 4:55They're holding in that moral injury and they're searching for
- 4:59answers on healing recovery. But as you and I both know that
- 5:04the science side is not always going to move the needle on the
- 5:09healing and recovery. Great.
- 5:12We talked about it. That doesn't mean that you were
- 5:14able to seek some, you know, get some.
- 5:19What's up? Reconciliation, I think is a
- 5:22good word, you know, unless you've got a different word, but
- 5:26find some reconciliation and what you've been through and now
- 5:31being able to say I'm free from that.
- 5:35I'm it exists. I know that that history
- 5:37happened and and I think this is actually a great segue for what
- 5:44we're going to talk about today, because I was like, wow, you
- 5:47know, here we're we've been looking for the pinnacle.
- 5:51If you know, we've been climbing the mountain in Genesis and I
- 5:56think we're finally at that crescendo.
- 6:00And now what happens right now? What happens and?
- 6:06These people are us. Right.
- 6:10But Jacob gets to get his word in.
- 6:12That's what we're going to He, you know, he's been holding a
- 6:16lot of trauma in all these years.
- 6:19We're going to unpack it today. So I know you know this as a
- 6:26public administrator, as as a person who's going to have
- 6:30their, their forum, their platform and public
- 6:33administration. The the most common word people
- 6:37are using now. I heard it as a child, but it's
- 6:40unspooling. Unspooling.
- 6:45Yeah, instead of unpacking, it's unspooling.
- 6:48Oh, OK, OK, I like that. OK, there's my.
- 6:56Work today, even. We're going to unspool chapter
- 7:0049. I like it.
- 7:02I like it. Let's let's go.
- 7:04You want to drop us into lead us into prayer, please.
- 7:08Brother, in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit,
- 7:10Lord, we thank you. We thank you, Lord, for the
- 7:16aspect that you are our Father, God, Lord and Creator.
- 7:18We thank you for Christ Jesus, our Lord, Savior, demon King,
- 7:21the head of our lives. We thank you for the power of
- 7:24glory, essence of the Holy Spirit who provides us with
- 7:27wisdom, knowledge, understanding, insight, and
- 7:30discernment. So as we go into immersing
- 7:33ourselves into the world, Lord, we just understand what the word
- 7:37is. The word is you, the word is
- 7:40water. Water flows, water replenishes
- 7:44us. So Lord, we take the time again
- 7:46just to praise You and glorify you.
- 7:48We love you, Father, because you first loved us.
- 7:51And let chapter 49, Lord, not only just rejuvenate any of us,
- 7:56O Lord, but all of us, in the name of this Christ Jesus and
- 7:59the presence of the Holy Spirit, each of your sons, daughters,
- 8:02friends and servants, we say Amen, Amen and Amen, Amen,
- 8:06Father, son and Holy Spirit, Amen.
- 8:09So, you know, folks, Darrell and I were both traveling in
- 8:13different opposite directions, so we didn't discuss anything
- 8:19before the show, right? We knew we were doing this.
- 8:22In fact, this might be a 2 parter.
- 8:25We we didn't know, but we're here.
- 8:27True you know there is so much on this one.
- 8:30You might be right to thanks, Joel posted Hey we're on TikTok
- 8:36now too so. Thanks.
- 8:38All right, thank you. I, I, you know what, Eva, it'd
- 8:42probably be smart because, you know, we really want to capture
- 8:44the essence of the moral injury here too, because it that's it's
- 8:49going to take two parts just looking at it.
- 8:51It's. I think so.
- 8:52It's a really long chapter. I was surprised when I started
- 8:56reading it. But I think that, you know, we
- 8:59can get through reading and then kind of edge into what this
- 9:06moral injury context of things because he's got a lot of
- 9:10prophetic edicts in here. And yeah, I, I agree.
- 9:15We can finish it up Part 2 next. Week I'm I'm listening to you.
- 9:19Somebody's banging on my door like they the police.
- 9:21I'll be right. Oh, OK, well I'll start.
- 9:24I'll start the reading then I can.
- 9:26Hear you, I can hear you. OK, all right folks, we are you
- 9:32know, in case you don't know, we read from the New International
- 9:36Version. Both of us use the study
- 9:40version. So we have our own personal
- 9:43notes that are in the bound version of the Bible.
- 9:47But but for this sake on on the screen, we read it from NIV.
- 9:52It's just easier to read that way.
- 9:55Jacob blesses his sons. Then Jacob called for his sons
- 9:59and said, gather around so I can tell you what will happen to you
- 10:04in days to come. Assemble and listen.
- 10:07Sons of Jacob, listen to your father, Israel Reuben.
- 10:12You are my first born, my might, the first sign of my strength.
- 10:17Excelling in honor, excelling in power, turbulent as the waters.
- 10:24You will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father's
- 10:29bed, onto my couch, and defiled it.
- 10:33Simony and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of
- 10:38violence. Let me not enter their counsel,
- 10:41Let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in
- 10:45their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased.
- 10:49Curse it be their anger so fierce and their fury so cruel.
- 10:55I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel.
- 11:00Judah, your brothers will praise you.
- 11:03Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies.
- 11:06Your father's sons will bow down to you.
- 11:10You are a lion's club, Judah. You return from the prey, my
- 11:14son. Like a lion he crouches and lies
- 11:18down like a lioness who dares to rouse him.
- 11:22The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff
- 11:26from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come,
- 11:31and the obedience of the nations shall be his.
- 11:35He will tether his donkey to a vine, his colt to the choices
- 11:39branch. He will wash his garments and
- 11:42wine his robes in the blood of grapes.
- 11:46His eyes will be darker than wine, his teeth whiter than
- 11:50milk. Zebulun will live by the
- 11:54seashore and become a haven for ships.
- 11:57His border will extend towards Sidon.
- 12:01Issachar is a raw boned donkey lying down among the sheet pins.
- 12:06When he sees how good is his resting place and how pleasant
- 12:11is his land, he will bend his shoulder to the burden and
- 12:15submit to forced labor. Dan will provide justice for his
- 12:20people as one of the tribes of Israel.
- 12:23Dan will be a snake by the rogues roadside, a Viper along
- 12:27the path that bites the horse's heels so that its riders tumbles
- 12:33backward. I look for your deliverance.
- 12:36Lord Gad will be attacked by a band of Raiders, but he will
- 12:41attack them at their heels. Asher's food will be rich.
- 12:46He will provide delicacies fit for a king.
- 12:50Naftali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns.
- 12:55Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring
- 13:00whose branches climb over a wall with bitterness.
- 13:03Archers attacked him. They shot at him with hostility,
- 13:08but his bow remains steady. His strong arms stayed limber.
- 13:13Because of the hand of the mighty One of Jacob.
- 13:16Because of the shepherd, the rock of Israel.
- 13:20Because of your Father's God who helps you, because of the
- 13:24Almighty who blesses you with blessings of the skies above,
- 13:29blessings of the deep spring below, blessings of the breast
- 13:33and womb. Your Father's blessings are
- 13:37greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains, then the
- 13:41bounty of the age-old hills. Let all these rest on the head
- 13:47of Joseph, on the brow of the Prince.
- 13:50Among his brothers. Benjamin is a ravenous wolf.
- 13:55In the morning he he devours the prey, in the evening he divides
- 14:01the plunder. All these are the 12 tribes of
- 14:06Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he
- 14:10blessed them, giving each the blessing appropriate to him, the
- 14:16death of Jacob. Then he gave them these
- 14:20instructions. I am about to be gathered to my
- 14:24people. Bury me with my father's in The
- 14:28Cave of Ephron the Hittite. The Cave in the field of
- 14:33Machpelah near Mamre in Canaan, which Abram brought, sorry.
- 14:40Which Abram bought along with the field as a burial place from
- 14:44Ephron the Hittite. There Abraham and his wife Sarah
- 14:47were buried. There Isaac and his wife Rebecca
- 14:51were buried, and there I buried Leah.
- 14:54The field and The Cave in it were bought from the Hittites.
- 14:58When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he
- 15:02drew his feet up onto the bed, breathed his last, and was
- 15:08gathered to his people. These are the words of our Lord.
- 15:18So most of Jacob's thoughts were his life thoughts, but more
- 15:30importantly, most of what Jacob spoke about was God giving it to
- 15:35him to say, I don't, I don't believe anybody can make all of
- 15:39it up. God gave him that to say because
- 15:42he assigned the duties and responsibilities and the
- 15:46lifestyle that these sons would lead.
- 15:49And just because he also demonstrated, just because
- 15:52you're the oldest, the eldest, doesn't mean you're going to get
- 15:55the the blessing. That blessing was amongst
- 15:59everyone. Well, I think that was even a
- 16:02carryover from chapter 48 that he, he switched.
- 16:07Remember we discussed that last week and he switched.
- 16:11Hey, you know, Joseph, your son's, they're not getting what
- 16:17you thought right in the normal order because I'm calling it, he
- 16:24says. I'm calling it like it is.
- 16:26They are who they are. Yeah.
- 16:30Yeah. And you know, and I believe as
- 16:33as we get ready to segue right here into moral injury, because
- 16:36we're talking about a man's life, we're talking about what
- 16:39constitutes, right, his life at this point, right?
- 16:43We know the name Jacob means Trickster.
- 16:46That's why his name was changed. Israel, there's no more tricking
- 16:51involved. And so for us, those of us who
- 16:54believe, those of us who follow, here's here's one of the most
- 16:59perfect examples of how we should live when we've resolved
- 17:04ourselves to just really following and honoring God.
- 17:10Yeah, You know, I think, you know, up until this point, he
- 17:16hasn't really said too much. You know, he was introduced to
- 17:20the Pharaoh, he and he and and. He blessed Pharaoh.
- 17:25He he, he blessed Pharaoh, he blessed him right.
- 17:29Right. But but we haven't.
- 17:32Joseph hasn't really said much until this point.
- 17:36And I think he was really trying to make sense of all of this
- 17:42moral injury that had happened to him over the years because he
- 17:46was just as a much of a victim victim.
- 17:49We've talked about that before. He was just as much of a victim
- 17:52of what his sons did to them, right?
- 17:57The whole if, if they hadn't acted fools way back when and
- 18:03sold their brother, then none of this would have happened.
- 18:08I mean, it's brought blessings of beyond blessings, but the
- 18:13whole woulda coulda shoulda thing, it might not have
- 18:16happened at all if they hadn't sold.
- 18:19So, you know, it's just kind of this weird double edged sword of
- 18:23things. But he's finally having his say
- 18:28yes. And what he really thinks about
- 18:30his sons, The good, the bad and the ugly.
- 18:36Remember that movie? The good, the Bad, the Ugly?
- 18:39Clint Eastwood. Yeah.
- 18:41That that made a mark on me when I was a young girl.
- 18:44Watching that right, you find out who the ugly what you find
- 18:47out who the ugly. Right.
- 18:50But but it's but it's not always ugly as in a you know, somebody
- 18:56can be pretty on the outside, but the ugly's on the inside.
- 19:00We've met those people. Yeah, I, I've met so many of
- 19:04them in my life. I, I, I forget count, but you
- 19:07know what? That's between them and God,
- 19:10not. It is OK.
- 19:12So Eva you as as we Segway into the moral injury, listen to
- 19:15this. That is their business.
- 19:18But when we have those encounters, it's ours too.
- 19:23Yeah, I'm just saying you can't dwell on it though, you know, I
- 19:28mean, it's, it's a lesson learned for us how not to
- 19:33behave. I mean, I've had bosses that I
- 19:36have worked before and, and recognize, you know, at least I,
- 19:43I, I always try to find something I can learn in people.
- 19:48And sometimes it's how do you learn not to do things?
- 19:53When someone enters our presence solicited or unsolicited, we
- 20:01know enough to no matter if it is good, bad, dysfunctional, or
- 20:09indifferent, we know enough to put God's stamp on it.
- 20:16Or we don't invite. We know we don't allow the
- 20:19invitation to occur because we know it's going to be chaotic
- 20:24mayhem full. Dysfunctional and toxic.
- 20:28We we know that so or God says stand where you are and just,
- 20:33you know, hear it out because whatever you say is going to
- 20:36come from him. It's not hope prayerfully it's
- 20:39going to come from him. You're the messenger at that
- 20:42point. You're either going to listen
- 20:44and interact or you're just going to listen and hear.
- 20:46That's it. Well.
- 20:48Even even his first, you know, couple of sentences say that he
- 20:53says assemble and listen sons of Jacob, listen to your father
- 20:58Israel. So he's talking to about himself
- 21:01in third person. That's right.
- 21:04Right. I mean.
- 21:05Look at the mistakes I've made, right?
- 21:08Right that. You don't have to yes that.
- 21:10But he's but he's. But he knows that his name,
- 21:13Israel is his God-given name, Jacob.
- 21:18His name is the world. From Isaac and Rebecca From
- 21:21Isaac and Rebecca but. But he but he says now I'm
- 21:25making that transition. This is stuff that's coming from
- 21:29Israel, from God. Yes.
- 21:33I'm trying to help that that when he, that third person
- 21:37reference to himself as Israel is that divine messaging that's
- 21:43really coming from God and his edict on OK, here's what I
- 21:48really think of you guys. You need to know the truth about
- 21:51who you are and what I think about you.
- 21:54The good, the bad, the ugly. I'm thinking that sprinkled
- 22:02throughout this, although Scripture is silent about it,
- 22:07these sons, they knew about Rebecca, they knew about Sarah,
- 22:11they, they knew about other people as the stories can't come
- 22:14down throughout the genealogy structure.
- 22:17So because I hear, I, you know, I heard stories this weekend
- 22:22about me and, and, and, and my mother, right?
- 22:26And and I'm saying like this, you know, my, my aunt told me my
- 22:32mother, my mother delivered me into the world when she was 17.
- 22:36So that means that she was pregnant around November,
- 22:39December of 1962. Just count forward, right?
- 22:43So she. Was a she was a baby having a
- 22:45baby. And so she asked my aunt on
- 22:50various occasions would she keep me, and my aunt says yes.
- 22:54So what my aunt was thinking was going to be for a few hours or
- 22:58an evening or so. It was 3 or 4 days, you know
- 23:04what I'm saying? You know what I said?
- 23:06That's my mother. Well, that would have been a lot
- 23:11of responsibility. Was a kid.
- 23:12Yeah. It was rediscovering life,
- 23:15whatever that meant, right? Well, that was a whole different
- 23:19time back then. And if she wasn't prepared to
- 23:22take care of you, whether she had parental support or not, you
- 23:27know, back then she probably was.
- 23:32You know, I don't know about your grandmother.
- 23:35But so my aunt says my grandmother would call and say,
- 23:38hey, have you seen? And she said no.
- 23:40But Daryl's over here. Yeah, but but but you know, I'm
- 23:45just saying that they would have maybe cast her out.
- 23:49Or oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 23:51That's the easy thing to do, Eva.
- 23:53You know, we, we we have children.
- 23:54We understand that that level. Yeah, we do.
- 23:57We do. You know, sorry we made that
- 24:00mistake, but it ain't happen in my household.
- 24:02I'm not going to have you being a, you know, a, a black spot on
- 24:08my reputation. You did that.
- 24:11You go figure out what the solution is.
- 24:15So, you know, I was, when I grew up there, there was time that,
- 24:21you know, in East Saint Louis. Anyway, there's a phrase called
- 24:25laying up. So that means you, you
- 24:28cohabitating, you got the person there, y'all doing everything.
- 24:31You're not going to get married. You're doing everything under
- 24:33the sun as adults and married people do, right.
- 24:36So one time, you know, one of my relatives, they confronted their
- 24:41children because basically they were, they were squatting at
- 24:46home. And the uncle says you're not
- 24:48going to be laying up around here.
- 24:51You're either going to marry him or her or you getting out of
- 24:54here. But we don't want to get out.
- 24:57That was the end of. It well, that was that a lot of
- 25:00that impetus was about being responsible, you know, the
- 25:04responsibility of think take accountability for your actions.
- 25:09And I think this this whole, you know, chapter right here was him
- 25:15him wagging his finger at his son's.
- 25:19Listen here, youngins, you know, you think you may have
- 25:22experienced a lot in life, but let me tell you your behavior,
- 25:27it stinks. And I think he's probably been
- 25:31able to deduce who was the root cause of all of these issues in
- 25:37the 1st place and all of the trouble that they brought,
- 25:41though it brought the blessings, they brought a lot of trouble
- 25:45and moral injury on them. And he's kind of giving out his
- 25:51Peace of Mind, you know, before he dies because he wants to be
- 25:55able to rest, I think, finally rest, if that makes sense.
- 26:00Well. You know what he knew, right?
- 26:04And so because he knew his time was nigh, this is something that
- 26:09needed to be said. And it was said in the midst of
- 26:13all the sons were there. Right.
- 26:17And it. Didn't say.
- 26:18I didn't know. No one told me.
- 26:20I didn't hear about it. Everybody was there.
- 26:22They knew whether their blessings or non blessings would
- 26:25lie. And it did need to come to
- 26:27Joseph because then they would have pointed fingers back at him
- 26:30and say, and we knew you were always his favorite, you know?
- 26:36They were all Joseph did. Joseph himself didn't get that
- 26:41blessing. His sons got the blessed because
- 26:46Joseph was already blessed and Jacob knew that God had already
- 26:49blessed him, but he did through his sons.
- 26:53Joseph got the blessed because there was not a tribe of of
- 26:56Joseph. Yeah.
- 26:58Joseph the the Joseph himself was grafted in via his sons.
- 27:05Isn't that amazing? Yeah.
- 27:07I know I make that connection now, you know, but he but it it,
- 27:12it was so critical for him to have played this role in Egypt,
- 27:18for them to all survive and be. Able to.
- 27:20If it weren't for him, if it weren't for God's intervention,
- 27:23if it weren't for Justin, we wouldn't be having.
- 27:25Any 12 tribes. Would have been gone yeah, they
- 27:28didn't die they. Would have perished.
- 27:30They would have perished with the famine.
- 27:33Yep. Isn't it interesting to think
- 27:36about? You scratch your head and you
- 27:40know, man, if this had happened, this wouldn't have happened.
- 27:43If you know, and go down that road, I think you and I have had
- 27:48personal discussions about what that road would look like.
- 27:52Man, things could have been different.
- 27:55Wouldn't have the car wreck wouldn't have had the same
- 27:58marriage or the the two sets of kids.
- 28:01Well, two marriages and two sets of kids.
- 28:03I mean, life could have been totally different.
- 28:06You know, I could have become some officer's wife or something
- 28:10at Walter Reed, Married a doctor.
- 28:12I don't know. Uh oh.
- 28:17I think you're froze or something.
- 28:23You're you're slow moving. You know what?
- 28:27I'm glad you brought that up because we don't hear about
- 28:30this. You I brought up you glad I
- 28:39brought up what? I think you froze again.
- 28:45Sorry guys. So wanted to get into this.
- 28:54So his first, first, first son that he starts lighting into is
- 29:01Ruben. You are my first born, my might,
- 29:05the first sign of my strength. And I think this is that section
- 29:09where he says, you know, I had some really hope in you, right?
- 29:12You're my first born. I poured into you.
- 29:15I gave you, you know, you have the ability to be, you know, the
- 29:19strength, excelling in honor, excelling in power.
- 29:23Oh, but no, no more turbulent as the waters.
- 29:26You will no longer excel for you went upon to your father's bed
- 29:31onto my couch, and you defiled it.
- 29:33He knew he knew that he had done wrong.
- 29:38The. There was a note in here on this
- 29:42chap in my. In my Bible, it says the oldest
- 29:46son was supposed to receive a double inheritance, but Reuben
- 29:50lost his special honor. Unruly and untrustworthy,
- 29:55especially in his younger days, he had gone so far as to sleep
- 30:00with one of his father's concubines.
- 30:02We've discussed that in an earlier episode.
- 30:05Jacob could not give the birthright blessing blessing to
- 30:09such a dishonorable, dishonorable man.
- 30:12So he knew that his son Ruben was not worthy of the double
- 30:19blessing of, you know, sorry, here's you're going to you have
- 30:26not lived up to what the expectations were.
- 30:31And then he goes into Simeon and Levi are brothers.
- 30:35Their swords are weapons of violence.
- 30:38Let me not enter the council. I think I didn't see it.
- 30:42Let me not enter their counsel. Let me not join their assembly,
- 30:47for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen
- 30:50as they please. Cursed be their anger so fierce
- 30:54and their fury so cruel. I will scatter them in Jacob and
- 30:59disperse them in Israel. This was a man who you know.
- 31:04He did not respect these two at all.
- 31:07He knew they were definitely Ites and had no grain of had no
- 31:16grain of being good, nice people.
- 31:20They no, they were not. I mean, he he even says that
- 31:25they have killed men in their anger so they couldn't control
- 31:28their anger. There's some they had some
- 31:32definitions in some of these sections.
- 31:35Let's see if I can find. Their swords, they said the
- 31:45meaning of the word is uncertain.
- 31:47So there's apparently there's a word in Hebrew that was used in
- 31:50here. So they don't really go into it.
- 31:55But other than their swords are weapons of violence, which is
- 32:00pretty tough. He know that they are not to be
- 32:03messed with. They are heathens.
- 32:06That's how I interpret that. He knows that they are
- 32:09definitely not good people. I'm Darrell.
- 32:12Thank you for coming back. I'm talking about Simeon and
- 32:16Levi, who, you know, are just not good men.
- 32:22They are violent men. I don't know what's I'm trying
- 32:26to think of a good comparison. I'm kind of thinking about, you
- 32:32know, what's a good word what we call modern day for.
- 32:41I mean, they're criminals. I mean, he knows that they're
- 32:44criminals. They just have no moral
- 32:46standards whatsoever. Could be the mafia.
- 32:54Can you hear me think we're still?
- 33:03I can hear your background noise.
- 33:07So anyways, yeah, he has no respect for Simeon and Levi.
- 33:13Now, Judah, your brothers will praise you.
- 33:18Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies.
- 33:20I mean, think about that. So this is he someone he knows
- 33:24that is going to be a strong ruler, and your father's sons
- 33:30will bow down to you. So that to me shows that he knew
- 33:36that he was the leader of all of that unruliness with the boys,
- 33:41right? Probably the very one who led
- 33:43the pack against getting. And I think I think you
- 33:48mentioned it way back when, when we were talking about Joseph
- 33:52getting sold into slavery, that Judah was the one who was the
- 33:58leader of the pack and all of this, you know, foolery of
- 34:03everybody. And let's see the because the
- 34:11notes, the notes in my Bible say that Judah had sold Joseph in a
- 34:16slavery and tried to defraud his daughter-in-law.
- 34:20So why did Jacob grant him the blessing?
- 34:23God had chosen Judah to be the ancestor of Israel's line of
- 34:27kings. That is the meaning of the
- 34:29scepter will not depart from Judah.
- 34:32This may have been due to Judah's dramatic change of
- 34:35character in chapter 44. Judah's line would produce the
- 34:40promised Messiah, Jesus. And that's important, right?
- 34:48And I don't know about you, but you know, especially knowing
- 34:53that a lot of our brothers and sisters, they go into war, they
- 34:58make a lot of decisions about what war means and how they are
- 35:05fighting lot, you know, fighting in life, trying to survive.
- 35:11But when you get back home and you recognize, man, maybe maybe
- 35:17I'm not the person really, you know, they show remorse.
- 35:21They they own what they have done and they do have that own
- 35:27personal reconciliation of things.
- 35:29But he's a but I think he's acknowledging that he knew that
- 35:33Judah was a strong man and was going to be able to lead the
- 35:36people and but but yet have that that sound mind that came about
- 35:47later and said, you know what, listen, I, I am, I'm going to
- 35:52get on the right path now. I've been wrong and he got on
- 35:55the right path with God. Did could you hear me?
- 36:07I felt like I've been rambling. Darrell, we can see your video.
- 36:23We can hear the background noise.
- 36:33You, you still can't hear me 'cause my, my speakers, my, my
- 36:39mic's working. Think he's going to have to go
- 36:44back out and come back in, folks?
- 36:49No, no, we can hear you now. Heard you there.
- 37:01All of a sudden. Joel says he can hear me.
- 37:04So not sure folks, sorry. So anyways, I'm going to get
- 37:14back to, you know, so think about it.
- 37:18This is, you know, he's talking about Judah and and you know,
- 37:26this is really kind of the future of the tribe of Judah and
- 37:32what can you hear me now and what's going to happen can hear
- 37:41your background noise. I can hear you.
- 37:54I think he's going to try to come back out and come back in
- 37:57again. So, so anyways, but he said the
- 38:06scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler staff
- 38:11between his feet. So that scepter is going to say
- 38:15there until he cut, until he comes to whom it belongs.
- 38:20And that is a footnote C, footnote C says, or until Shiloh
- 38:26comes, or until he comes to whom tribute belongs.
- 38:31I don't know that I've ever looked up this phrase.
- 38:35Can you hear me now until Shiloh comes?
- 38:39So you know. Are you typing it in?
- 38:56Yeah, yeah, 'cause I had it on the phone.
- 38:59And so, as Genesis 4910, Judah will rule until Shiloh comes or
- 39:05come to Shiloh, whichever whom it belongs to is a tribute, and
- 39:09the nations and the people will obey him.
- 39:12So the scepter will not depart from Judah.
- 39:18There'll always be a man. There'll always be a descendant
- 39:22of David on the throne, more or less.
- 39:29He is a standard bearer. Judah, never mind.
- 39:33See how God can use you. Never mind.
- 39:35Judah. Judah did some terrible.
- 39:38Things right, right. We were talking.
- 39:40I was, that's what I was talking about.
- 39:41He did, you know, he led the he led all of the brothers.
- 39:45He led the revolt to avenge Dinah.
- 39:48Right. But he was the one who led them
- 39:52all to selling Joseph in the 1st place.
- 39:57And you know, as he was doing that reconciliation with Joseph
- 40:02and he didn't ever say, hey, it's me, I'm the one that did
- 40:04it. But he did.
- 40:06But I think he's the one that volunteered to stay in prison
- 40:09while they went to go back and get Benjamin and talk to Dad and
- 40:14you know. And maybe Joseph knew he was the
- 40:17ringleader and that's why he had him stay behind.
- 40:20Yeah, I mean it, it makes sense, but but he had that pivotal
- 40:25moment life and said I have to own up.
- 40:29You know, even I'm not not going to verbally tell them I'm sorry
- 40:34and apologize. His actions spoke louder than
- 40:38his words. I'm not going to tell Dad, but
- 40:41Dad knew. Dad knew.
- 40:43Dad knew. I mean, you can tell Dad knew
- 40:46and and his blessing was the longest out of all of them,
- 40:52right? He had the most to worry about
- 40:54him because. God did that.
- 40:57But he had the most to say, and he wasn't it.
- 41:01This was that gentle reminder. Remember where you've been and
- 41:06what your future could look like because you don't want to
- 41:10backtrack going. Going back on the trail is not
- 41:13any fun. You know you're going to trip
- 41:16over a different rock. You already got through that
- 41:17path the first time. Don't.
- 41:19Don't trip going backwards. You know what, you just said
- 41:23something that's that's really incredible because it is, right?
- 41:29There have been people in eBay. I say this because it's true for
- 41:33you, for me, for for most folk, When you conjoin, it means you
- 41:41all in. When you conjoin yourself with
- 41:44someone and then at the end they act out like you've done nothing
- 41:50for them, right? You gave them all the extras.
- 41:55We can go down the list of what that could be.
- 41:58When you give them all the extras, you were present.
- 42:00You, you, you were a mainstay in their lives.
- 42:03No, no matter what the relationship was, you were
- 42:06present, right? And then when they check out,
- 42:10male or female, both. When they check out, you're the
- 42:14villain. For sure.
- 42:17Well, I talk about in that book. I talk about that and welcome to
- 42:22my people garden. 3 signs of a toxic person.
- 42:27The ones that bark the loudest are the ones that are the most
- 42:29guilty. They always make somebody else
- 42:32look bad to make themselves look good.
- 42:35And they always telling themselves if somebody exhibits
- 42:39at least two of those things, sometimes even just one thing,
- 42:44they're just a point. I'm pointing at you.
- 42:46Yep. Right.
- 42:47I mean, if, if they're you have to watch and know who you're
- 42:51dealing with. If, if, if one happens.
- 42:55All right. You've been fair warned.
- 42:57You know that they're barking too loud.
- 43:00Why? You know, it's that old.
- 43:04What's his name? It said it.
- 43:06Methinks how it does protest too much.
- 43:09Shakespeare. Right, Right.
- 43:12Think about it. Methinks how it does protest too
- 43:15much. Well, that's what barking is.
- 43:18And if people are barking, pay attention to that because #2 and
- 43:23#3 you're probably just around the corner.
- 43:26But if you're not cognizant and aware about what's happening and
- 43:31paying attention to their words, what they're really saying or
- 43:36sometimes not saying maybe some things that they're doing, then
- 43:41that you have to know that you're dealing with what I call
- 43:46like Poison Ivy. You you know poison oak, right.
- 43:51You know a scorpion. I I get it.
- 43:55God put them on this planet doesn't mean that they had to
- 43:58stay in your people guarded that's.
- 44:00Right, That's right. We are responsible for tending
- 44:04the garden like Adam and Eve. We're responsible for doing that
- 44:08right? So where we don't get into the
- 44:11place where we're heaping hot coals on people because God is
- 44:15the expert of doing that if he if He so desires, We are tenders
- 44:19of the garden. We are the people who walk
- 44:22around with imbued wisdom, knowledge, understanding,
- 44:25discernment, and insight. Because we have not.
- 44:29Because we ask not, and we perish for a lack of knowledge.
- 44:32If you know no more scripture, know those too, because those
- 44:36will carry you along in life in such a way you become a a godly
- 44:42magnetic personality. No, you're not him, you're not
- 44:46close, but he's ennobled you enough to where the message of
- 44:51hope is clear for people where again, they can never say.
- 44:54I didn't know. No one told me.
- 44:57Because those people who would say that are their own gods.
- 45:03But I think the importance of reading the blessing that he
- 45:08gave to Judah was though, I think as although he, you know,
- 45:14it was that twisted, it's kind of it's kind of a passive
- 45:19aggressive approach, right? Hey, you could put your boot on
- 45:24the neck of your enemy. You're strong enough to do that.
- 45:28I give that to you, but you're also, I think a very kind you're
- 45:34going to be a strong ruler. You are going to be kind.
- 45:37You are going to get some blessings.
- 45:39So he need he he sowed some hope in there for Judah to say all's
- 45:44not lost. You have a future.
- 45:47Just remember, this is what your future looks like and you're,
- 45:52you're going to get, you're going to get something positive
- 45:55out of it because you chose to, to contribute to moral healing
- 46:01and recovery for, for him, for him.
- 46:04You know, you know, he contributed to the moral healing
- 46:08and recovery for daddy dearest, for his brother Joseph.
- 46:15And he's setting the standard for the rest of the follow.
- 46:19I mean, I think it's really important for folks to
- 46:22understand that he, he was, he was weaving some very positive
- 46:29things in here for Judah, that he was going to become something
- 46:34because he was leading that healing and recovery side,
- 46:39whether he knew it or not. He owned up to the
- 46:42responsibility and accountability of his prior
- 46:45actions, but he wasn't taking away from the strong man that he
- 46:50knew he was. And you see how that dream
- 46:54sequence was transferred from Joseph to a realized action to
- 46:59Judah. He's ruled.
- 47:02He's ruling over. Right.
- 47:05Yeah, well, but they, but even Joseph was pretty much ruling
- 47:10over the number 2 under Pharaoh. So, you know, they it, it's just
- 47:16a parallel. But now Judah is going to be
- 47:21this great Kingdom as well. And it's kind of, it's kind of
- 47:27neat. You know, you think about it
- 47:28historical wise, the coming of these countries, these great
- 47:35nations and, and what the foundings of them were, because
- 47:40these were Ites right there. They were Ites that only Joseph
- 47:47and Benjamin were. They were the only right.
- 47:53They were the right. They were the only two who were
- 47:55not Ites. No, Rachel was an ITE, wasn't
- 47:59she? OK, we're we're OK.
- 48:01But as it's attached to that right, they were.
- 48:06Yeah, they were not. Right.
- 48:08See, Rachel's sister and handmaids and such, they were
- 48:14all in. That's why that was all that
- 48:16dysfunction. Also because these are the same
- 48:20women who are waiting on Jacob to come from the fields for
- 48:23their turn at night or whatever, because all they wanted was
- 48:25babies, right? But we need, we need to make a
- 48:28drama series on all of this. Could you imagine?
- 48:33This is not like the days of our lives and as the world turns,
- 48:36this is as the ice evolve. Or something else?
- 48:39You know what? The day of the ice, right?
- 48:43So. We.
- 48:44We we really need to you know what, even we're on the sun.
- 48:48I don't think it's ever been done.
- 48:50It's probably been done like secularly, but not historically
- 48:55biblically right. So we probably should do that
- 48:57because Can you imagine my man come home, he tired and anyway
- 49:01they waiting for their turn. Yeah, but to wait for your turn.
- 49:06And Dad says gather around. I I mean, so the way he was
- 49:11talking at the very end, Dad is sitting at the end of his bed,
- 49:15right? Or at the edge of his bed, feet
- 49:17are down on the floor. So he's having some prominence.
- 49:22He's not sitting in his throne like you are, right?
- 49:25I mean, he's, he's a very humble man representing God, speaking
- 49:32through him and issuing this edict about all of his kids.
- 49:39I I, and it bodes well for us even because we're just taking
- 49:44the aspect of what scripture teaches us.
- 49:47Scripture teaches us that we are priests, you know, from a royal
- 49:51line of priests and we're, we're kings and Queens.
- 49:55Now you, if you want the excess that comes along with that, you
- 50:00need to be able to impress yourself enough to say, you
- 50:03know, there's going to be drama that's associated with this
- 50:06because you look at the kingly reigns and the queen that reign.
- 50:10A lot of that was not easy. Those are not easy reigns that
- 50:14those people had, right? And so just looking at it from a
- 50:18kingship or Queens ship, you know, because we're kings and
- 50:20Queens, Eva, that's what we are. And if people want to dispute
- 50:23that, I welcome them. You know, me, I always want
- 50:25somebody to retort. So for me, I just want people to
- 50:29understand that when Jacob is doing this, this was a long time
- 50:34coming, but he's at the very end of his life and he has just
- 50:40enough, just enough heavenly power to express themselves to
- 50:48where there are blessings shared here.
- 50:51Now, Reuben. Reuben didn't want to kill
- 50:55Joseph. In fact, he was going to go.
- 50:58He was trying to go tell him he was going.
- 51:00To he was going to go get Joseph and hide him and take him back
- 51:04home, that's what. He was going to go do he didn't.
- 51:07Yeah, he didn't. He didn't act fast enough.
- 51:09So we can see again how God can use anybody he wants to.
- 51:15Judah was evil. He did some other things.
- 51:20You know he's spilling his seat all sorts of stuff he did right
- 51:24the the the the woman of ill repute all of this stuff right,
- 51:27but God still used him that the line of David would come that
- 51:33Christ would come in that. Right, right.
- 51:37That is amazing. I just was reading, you know,
- 51:41even this part in the section about Judah, that he will tether
- 51:47his donkey to a vine, his colt to a choice, his branch.
- 51:51He will wash his garments and wine his robes in the blood of
- 51:54grapes. His eyes will be darker than
- 51:57wine, his teeth whiter than milk.
- 52:01And from that, I'd take that, you know, he's letting him know
- 52:05he's coming. He's getting the best.
- 52:07He's he's going to have a great area, right?
- 52:11I mean, I took that wine appreciation class several weeks
- 52:16ago and you know, the the best fertile lands it takes the
- 52:22grapes for the grapes to grow takes a certain type of land.
- 52:28You know, the the structure of the soil and the nutrients on
- 52:32it. Everything have to be at a
- 52:35certain level for those grapes to be able to grow and and not
- 52:43just the quality of the wine, but the quantity as well.
- 52:47So that would have been important for him to know where
- 52:51he was going to rain the the location of where he's going to
- 52:56reign over. This is good land, Judah.
- 53:00You are getting the best because it's going to be able to
- 53:04produce. But then there was this also
- 53:06this part of me that was reading and and talking about the color
- 53:10of his robes are going to be wine.
- 53:12We use that in royalty lineup, right.
- 53:16You know, you think about the robes of the British and you
- 53:21know, some you and I are Catholic.
- 53:23The robes at the priest where some of them it you know, it is
- 53:29it is that wine color? It is it.
- 53:32Is. Purple, right?
- 53:34It is designed to represent royalty, yes.
- 53:38That's important for us to recognize that as we understand
- 53:43the context of things. So before we get in to, I mean,
- 53:49we still haven't even gotten halfway through this chapter.
- 53:52We only have about 5 minutes before we need to close.
- 53:56You know what, I recommend we do this even because, you know, we,
- 53:59we have our technical difficulties.
- 54:02We, we, we've got part, we can do Part 3 because we got to get
- 54:05to 50, but we really need to, we really need to unload, unspool,
- 54:13unpack Jacob's moral injury here.
- 54:16Jacob, Jacob was no, Jacob was no, no sleep in most of this
- 54:22stuff, right? Nor were his sons.
- 54:25His sons learned from the mothers and from him or what to
- 54:30do, but in the end he did he no despite how he felt and what he.
- 54:38Knew that he was a he was a single parent raising them.
- 54:43Yes. Yeah.
- 54:45Because when Rachel died, I think a part of him went with
- 54:50her. Oh, I think so too for sure.
- 54:53And I think he knew that these concubine wives were not the
- 54:58same as his spouse, so he wouldn't have trusted.
- 55:03I mean, I've lost both of my ex husbands and that's probably why
- 55:07I have not remarried because, you know, I think you have a
- 55:14certain expectation about what am I going to get in another
- 55:18relationship? What do I want in another
- 55:20relationship? And the.
- 55:21Man and the man. Too right?
- 55:24And he's going to, you know, he's, he probably didn't find a
- 55:30woman who could replace what he felt with Rachel, that trust.
- 55:35He didn't want Leah. He didn't want Bill Hot.
- 55:37He didn't want Miss, but he didn't want he he he didn't want
- 55:40them as a wife. Right, right.
- 55:44Yeah, the concubine sleeping partners.
- 55:47Gratifying the worldly side of things is one thing, but.
- 55:53Can you imagine Eva dude coming home?
- 55:57He ain't he ain't he. He he, he he's he's dusty, he's
- 56:00dirty. He smells like the great
- 56:02outdoors and looks probably chest is worse.
- 56:05They don't care. They waiting their turn.
- 56:08Right, but I but I bet you it's not like they probably didn't
- 56:12try to fight for his attention. I mean, you watch some of the TV
- 56:15shows, sisters, wives or whatever, and they're all trying
- 56:21to, you know, garner his attention.
- 56:24But that void in his heart that was with Rachel, you know, And
- 56:29is anybody ever going to feel that?
- 56:31Apparently not, you know. 20 years, Eva.
- 56:35Yeah, so he, he, he, he not saying he probably didn't have
- 56:40sex. He was a man.
- 56:42But if he was getting up in age, probably not happening in that
- 56:45area anyways. They they were hey, they worked
- 56:48it out. Sis didn't.
- 56:49They but but he but but he you know, this whole this is, you
- 56:54know, you got to think what has happened?
- 56:57We had a what's the 10 thousand 20,000 foot level is he's he's
- 57:03reunited with his son and figuring out, well, here's the
- 57:09rest of the story and how do I make a connection and that and
- 57:15he's had a little bit of time over in, you know, Egypt to
- 57:20reconcile. So who, what, when, where, why,
- 57:22how in order to be able to get to this point and and God speak
- 57:28with him and, and and here's the edict on everybody.
- 57:34I mean. That's just.
- 57:35That's to me a lot of reconciliation of things.
- 57:38And I think for a lot of veterans, you know, they missed
- 57:42a lot of home life being gone and deployed in military
- 57:47service. So whether it's with their own
- 57:50kids, with their parents or neighbors or whatever, coming
- 57:55back home, you got to make sense of, well, what has happened
- 58:00here? Where do I fit back in?
- 58:02And now he's aged to this point. And where do we go from here?
- 58:08I think what's important is we, we, we leave it here today is
- 58:12knowing that no matter how much we address the moral and the
- 58:17spiritual injury, there's spiritual injury here too.
- 58:21There's still work to do for the remainder of our lives.
- 58:24We can be healed, we can be all stitched up, we can be bandaged,
- 58:28we can, we can total, we can do rehabilitation, all of that.
- 58:32But there's a, there's some aspects somewhere in that trail
- 58:36that's going to reappear that you did not address.
- 58:40That's why when we talk about being revivalists and such, we
- 58:43still need to be on our knees with our, our arms extended to
- 58:46heaven, praying that the Lord remove those barriers that exist
- 58:51in our lives that we can go forward, continue to pronounce
- 58:56the the great news of hope, faith and love and make sure
- 59:00that we connect with people. And Eva, I believe this.
- 59:04We don't have to be around everybody to demonstrate how
- 59:07much we love and care for them, because everybody around us is
- 59:10not good for us and it's sometimes not good for them.
- 59:14Well, we're both the extroverted introverts, so we plan when
- 59:20we're around. Other people don't believe that.
- 59:25They do not know they do. Not believe that.
- 59:28I get it. Could you pray?
- 59:29US out today, please. Yep.
- 59:31Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing us together today.
- 59:35Thank you for the many blessings that we both have experienced
- 59:39this past weekend. Thank you for the travels, the
- 59:43good travels that we've had, being able to get back to our
- 59:46respective homes and families and moving forward.

- 59:57here at home, here on the waves. Thank you.

- 1:00:05bodies, in your name we pray. Amen.
