- 0:03Speaker 1: We got a lot to do today. Happy Monday, Ron Kratz.
- 0:06Speaker 1: AJ joining us soon. For those of you who cry
- 0:09Speaker 1: when AJ's not on, don't worry. He will join us soon.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I missed a lot on Friday. You guys had a
- 0:16Speaker 1: great show with Polar and JERROLI. I mean, there were
- 0:20Speaker 1: decisions made on qualifying offers, Fairbanks, enters the boldas a
- 0:24Speaker 1: free agent. I could have spent a lot of time
- 0:27Speaker 1: talking about the Rocky situation. We'll try and get some
- 0:30Speaker 1: thoughts from AJ at some point on everything that he missed,
- 0:33Speaker 1: maybe during some breaks. But for me, Kratz saw the
- 0:36Speaker 1: headline initially and I'm like, Rockies did it. They finally
- 0:40Speaker 1: went outside the org and they're bringing someone in who's
- 0:42Speaker 1: more analytical and tech oriented. And then I was like,
- 0:46Speaker 1: they're bringing someone who's been out of the game for
- 0:48Speaker 1: ten years and is a part of top three dumpster
- 0:53Speaker 1: fire franchise in the NFL.
- 0:56Speaker 2: At least it's ten years at least now. Yes, he
- 0:58Speaker 2: still has relevant information the Rockies don't have yet. So
- 1:01Speaker 2: that's good.
- 1:03Speaker 1: From twenty fifteen.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, do you know say the game was strange? They
- 1:08Speaker 2: still they're still back before twenty fifteen, So this is
- 1:13Speaker 2: this is.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I tried to spin a good light on it. This
- 1:18Speaker 2: wasn't good.
- 1:20Speaker 1: The best comment I saw when that first came out
- 1:23Speaker 1: was someone who was going through how many years behind
- 1:25Speaker 1: they are, and they were like, oh, just wait till
- 1:27Speaker 1: they get to twenty seventeen and discover Apple Watches.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I lost it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Anyway, we'll mix in some news from last week. We
- 1:37Speaker 1: got a lot to get to from the weekend, so
- 1:40Speaker 1: let us charge charge beeds are coming in hot. Manuel
- 1:48Speaker 1: Classe and Luis Ortiz have not played ball for a
- 1:51Speaker 1: while while this investigation was going on, and now it
- 1:55Speaker 1: all comes out in droves over the weekend. They're indicted.
- 1:58Speaker 1: They're facing up to sixty five years in federal prison
- 2:02Speaker 1: if convicted on all charges to rig bets on individual pitches.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Thrown charges include wire fraud conspiracy, honest services wire fraud conspiracy,
- 2:14Speaker 1: conspiracy to influence sports sporting contests by bribery, and money
- 2:19Speaker 1: laundering conspiracy. Both of them, through their legal representation, said
- 2:24Speaker 1: they're totally innocent and they've done nothing wrong. They do
- 2:30Speaker 1: get to go through the court process. Luis Ortiz seemed
- 2:33Speaker 1: like he opted on board way later. According to these allegations.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Man class A has been involved with a lot of
- 2:39Speaker 1: crap here for a while. If you're going off what's happening,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and they didn't make that much money off it, especially
- 2:45Speaker 1: class A who's making millions of dollars every year. But
- 2:49Speaker 1: it gets really specific and detailed with class A and
- 2:53Speaker 1: friends and phone calls and being around people and giving
- 2:56Speaker 1: them money to place bets on individual pitches. Right, Hey,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I'm going to throw this pitch. I'm going to throw
- 3:02Speaker 1: a ball. I'm going to throw a pitch above or
- 3:04Speaker 1: below a certain miles per hour. Those are all things
- 3:08Speaker 1: that his buddies or his whatever you want to call
- 3:12Speaker 1: them colleagues in this scheme we're placing money on and
- 3:16Speaker 1: winning money on. Except for one situation where Andy pais
- 3:21Speaker 1: so down in the dirt. Your thoughts on how crazy
- 3:28Speaker 1: the details are here?
- 3:30Speaker 2: The details are like I can't like, I can't get
- 3:33Speaker 2: away from the details. The details are so like specific.
- 3:37Speaker 2: He called somebody or he conversated with him for like
- 3:42Speaker 2: four minutes before he was going to go in the game.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I'm not saying he was warming up, but he was,
- 3:47Speaker 2: Like I guess he knew he was going in the game.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I don't remember the exact timeline, and then he sent
- 3:53Speaker 2: texts and sure enough the bet hits. The details are
- 3:57Speaker 2: crazy to me because as a player, I knew nothing
- 4:02Speaker 2: about this. Now, not playing, I started to learn a
- 4:06Speaker 2: little bit more about it, but even more like I
- 4:11Speaker 2: didn't even know about this. I didn't know that this
- 4:13Speaker 2: was something that you could do. And then my mind goes, well,
- 4:17Speaker 2: why is he Why is he doing this? I'm sure
- 4:19Speaker 2: we'll get to it later, but why is he doing this?
- 4:22Speaker 2: Why did he feel like did he feel like his
- 4:25Speaker 2: career and his money that he was making was just
- 4:28Speaker 2: wasn't going to be enough. He being the best closer
- 4:31Speaker 2: in the game for a little bit wasn't going to
- 4:34Speaker 2: be enough financially for him. So he needed twelve thousand
- 4:38Speaker 2: extra dollars.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Oh but AJ, there's too much temptation. There's too much
- 4:45Speaker 1: temptation here. What's up has it going? I mean, you
- 4:48Speaker 1: got to give him some credit here. There's so much
- 4:50Speaker 1: temptation thrown his way. What are you kidding me? Temptation,
- 4:55Speaker 1: temptation in the world for everyone, And we say no,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I can deal drugs, but I don't.
- 5:01Speaker 4: You don't, You don't, I don't.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Why because you're get in trouble for you?
- 5:05Speaker 4: Sure? Are you sure?
- 5:07Speaker 1: EDC?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Was this week with that? Hey? EDC was this weekend? Scott,
- 5:11Speaker 4: are you sure you don't die?
- 5:12Speaker 1: I didn't go. I didn't go. But yes, so there
- 5:15Speaker 1: are a lot of temptations. You could do things illegally
- 5:17Speaker 1: for business. But if you do, yes, there are ramifications.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Are we supposed to feel bad because betting is legal
- 5:23Speaker 1: and they regulate it, and so now they're able to
- 5:25Speaker 1: catch him because all of a sudden they're like, wait,
- 5:28Speaker 1: why is everybody? Why is there massive amounts of money
- 5:30Speaker 1: being placed on one pitch by classic? That's how you
- 5:33Speaker 1: catch this crap. So we're supposed to feel him happy?
- 5:36Speaker 4: No, I'm happy. Listen. I had a whole thing this
- 5:38Speaker 4: past weekend where I was talking to people and they
- 5:40Speaker 4: were like, I don't understand this whole betting thing. And
- 5:42Speaker 4: I said, you know what the problem is. It's regulated now.
- 5:46Speaker 4: It wasn't regulated before. Now it's regulated. Before it was
- 5:49Speaker 4: just with bookies. When Pete Rose was betting on baseball,
- 5:52Speaker 4: we had to count on the bookie getting caught. Now
- 5:54Speaker 4: it's regulated so they can see that. Oh wow, all
- 5:57Speaker 4: of a sudden, fifty grand was bet on Class eight
- 5:59Speaker 4: throwing a pitch that bounced three feet in front of
- 6:01Speaker 4: the plate, or Teas threw a pitch that bounced seven
- 6:04Speaker 4: feet in front of the plate, and god forbid Andy
- 6:06Speaker 4: Payes swing at one because he swung on one. And
- 6:08Speaker 4: then we get the sad puppy face where it's like.
- 6:14Speaker 1: All in the details?
- 6:16Speaker 4: Am I not right?
- 6:16Speaker 1: How many details there were? How reckless this was? At
- 6:19Speaker 1: least again, I get it allegations, but the Feds have
- 6:23Speaker 1: been working on this for a while. Were you shocked
- 6:25Speaker 1: at how much they found with class A, specifically putting
- 6:29Speaker 1: so much together with people around.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Him, Yes, because then he brought another guy in with him.
- 6:35Speaker 4: But what I don't understand his class A was in
- 6:36Speaker 4: line to make ten million dollars, twelve million dollars, he
- 6:40Speaker 4: was in line to make thirty forty million dollars, and
- 6:44Speaker 4: he did not. He wanted five grand quick, like dude, Like,
- 6:48Speaker 4: there's other ways to make five grand quick. Do a
- 6:50Speaker 4: signing a manual cost. I could do a signing, He'd be.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Fine, right, can't just tell your agent, Hey, I want
- 6:56Speaker 1: to do some extra signings locally. Find some spots where
- 7:00Speaker 1: I pop up. I need a little bit of extra cash.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I mean again, I just want to make sure this
- 7:06Speaker 1: is clear. Luis Ortiz not poor on the contract, but
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know, early on in his career making league minimum
- 7:13Speaker 1: seven hundred to something thousand dollars in normal life.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Many people you're yeah, of course.
- 7:18Speaker 1: But I just want to emphasize, dude, class A, it's
- 7:22Speaker 1: making so much money in life term. It was.
- 7:27Speaker 4: In line to make fifty million, fifty million dollars, like
- 7:31Speaker 4: ten million dollars a year for years coming up, for
- 7:34Speaker 4: multiple years. He did this for five thousand dollars five.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Grand, Yeah, I think twelve technically right, it was a
- 7:42Speaker 1: five and then a seven piece or something. And in
- 7:45Speaker 1: my mind, yeah, we don't have by the details, I
- 7:47Speaker 1: could see class A potentially making more on this so
- 7:51Speaker 1: far based on all of the allegations that I've seen.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Maybe there's been some money trails that weren't caught, but
- 7:56Speaker 1: either way, nothing close to it making sense for him
- 8:01Speaker 1: to put his entire career and to put his life
- 8:05Speaker 1: from a criminal standpoint on the line. I mean, up
- 8:08Speaker 1: to sixty five years in prison. Are they going to
- 8:09Speaker 1: get that? Probably not. Are they going to ever play
- 8:13Speaker 1: baseball again?
- 8:15Speaker 4: Man?
- 8:15Speaker 1: It is going to take some hell of a turnaround
- 8:18Speaker 1: case here to convince everyone that you weren't involved in this.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So now I mean we'll go back to the case
- 8:25Speaker 1: and everything too. Hey, the Cleveland Guardians had themselves one
- 8:28Speaker 1: of the cheaper top closers in baseball for a while.
- 8:31Speaker 1: They did okay without him towards the end of last season,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but he gone.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And it's and obviously this is you know, we're assuming
- 8:41Speaker 2: he's guilty based on the facts. This isn't major League
- 8:44Speaker 2: Baseball doing the investigation. This was a federal investigation. Based
- 8:48Speaker 2: on the facts that we read, we're assuming he's guilty.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And that's where my you know, that's where my opinion
- 8:53Speaker 2: comes from when I say this. Manuel Class was also
- 8:56Speaker 2: a steroid user, performance enhancing drugs and twenty two. So
- 9:01Speaker 2: I don't feel like maybe all of his decisions are
- 9:04Speaker 2: really like tightened up. I don't think he makes some
- 9:07Speaker 2: pretty poor decisions. So like he's never gonna play in
- 9:11Speaker 2: Major League baseball game and good for good for a
- 9:14Speaker 2: Dominican team that didn't let him play in the dr either. Yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 2: he was trying to go to house.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Dude, you can't compare steroids in gambling because steroids decisions.
- 9:24Speaker 4: But forget decisions, decisions. Yes, But we talked about this
- 9:29Speaker 4: the other day. Everyone's like, oh he did steroids, Oh
- 9:32Speaker 4: boo hoo oh, And then oh he's fine now, because
- 9:34Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you, if I look back on
- 9:37Speaker 4: my career and I played in the steroid error, why
- 9:40Speaker 4: would you not do him? If you're going to get
- 9:42Speaker 4: a one hundred million dollars two hundred million dollar contract. Oh,
- 9:45Speaker 4: I have to give up five million dollars, but I'm
- 9:47Speaker 4: still making one hundred ninety five million, okay, And no
- 9:52Speaker 4: one remembers, like, I'm not going to the Hall of Fame, right,
- 9:55Speaker 4: I don't know. So, like that's not lump steroids and
- 9:58Speaker 4: gambling and the same thing, because gambling is on a
- 10:00Speaker 4: whole different level that affects absolutely the integrity of the game.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Although any take your integrity and watch me swing at
- 10:08Speaker 4: this ball in the dirt.
- 10:10Speaker 1: He's just saying he's made some wrong decisions. And also, yes,
- 10:13Speaker 1: I mean back in the day, there were really no
- 10:16Speaker 1: repercussions for Royd's. Now there are. It's tested, you get caught,
- 10:20Speaker 1: you get banned, free specific amount of games. Zach Maizel
- 10:23Speaker 1: and The Athletic wrote in his story on this about
- 10:28Speaker 1: a specific detail, for example, and Crats alluded to this
- 10:31Speaker 1: somewhat April twenty six, three sixteen pm. Just before he
- 10:35Speaker 1: entered the game in the eighth inning, he texts and
- 10:37Speaker 1: associate associate who's sitting in the stands at the ballpark.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Then they have a two minute phone call, which is
- 10:43Speaker 1: against MLB rules. You're not allowed to do that during games. Anyway.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Four minutes later, a group of betters win eleven grand
- 10:50Speaker 1: wagering a particular pitch by class would register at slower
- 10:54Speaker 1: than ninety seven point nine to five miles an hour.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And then he hung out with those people after the game.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Oh wow, I mean that is that is reckless. That
- 11:05Speaker 1: is reckless.
- 11:06Speaker 4: How do you know this? How do you know this?
- 11:08Speaker 4: That's what I want to know. You're like, I'm gonna
- 11:11Speaker 4: this ball. I mean, I know, I guess you mean yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 4: but his slider is like a hundred.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Anyways, his cutter, his cutter is pretty hard. Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 4: But but my thing is like, you're like, I'm just
- 11:26Speaker 4: gonna yank this one straight into the dirt, which he
- 11:29Speaker 4: tried numerous times, and so do Ortiz Like, listen, I'm
- 11:31Speaker 4: not saying they're guilty, but from looking at the evidence
- 11:34Speaker 4: that I've seen, and I've read this whole thing, it's
- 11:37Speaker 4: hard to argue that something wasn't off because it was
- 11:41Speaker 4: always the first pitch, right. It was like, oh, first pitch,
- 11:44Speaker 4: watch this and then they go dig in the mound
- 11:47Speaker 4: and they're like, oh, I get it. They might not
- 11:49Speaker 4: be guilty, but wow, if I'm looking at this from
- 11:54Speaker 4: the outside, I'm thinking, Wow.
- 11:58Speaker 1: There's so much surveillance to bank security footage captured class
- 12:01Speaker 1: A withdrawing fifty g's in cash. He gave fifteen k
- 12:04Speaker 1: to one of the better who was in Cleveland that
- 12:06Speaker 1: day to wager on that pitch. They've been working hard
- 12:11Speaker 1: on this one to gather evidence.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I didn't see though, I didn't see what what did
- 12:18Speaker 4: class his agentsy or his attorney. He's not guilty, he's.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Not yet, yeah, But so then it's really it's ortiz
- 12:26Speaker 1: is as long class as class as attorney just says.
- 12:34Speaker 4: What if you pull out fifty grand and hand it
- 12:36Speaker 4: to a guy or whatever it was, and then he
- 12:39Speaker 4: bet on that pitch? Like, doesn't that that seems fishy.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'm just saying fishy among men? What about if what
- 12:46Speaker 1: about if you place a phone call and say go
- 12:51Speaker 1: in the game. Here's what's gonna happen.
- 12:54Speaker 4: You can't do going in. I'm going in and one out?
- 12:57Speaker 4: Was he was he like this on his phone as
- 12:59Speaker 4: you've warming up. Was the bullpen coach down there, like
- 13:02Speaker 4: he's like, hey, you can't be on your He's like,
- 13:03Speaker 4: hold on, let me text my friend. Tell him I'm
- 13:05Speaker 4: gonna throw first fish ball.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Like what I mean, that's what it appears. That is
- 13:09Speaker 1: what this indictment from the DOJ says. And yes, his
- 13:14Speaker 1: attorney said class has devoted his life to baseball and
- 13:17Speaker 1: doing everything in this power to help his team win.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Emmanuel is innocent of all charges and looks forward to
- 13:22Speaker 1: clearing his name in court. So clearly, at least initially here,
- 13:25Speaker 1: there's no plea deal or anything like that. And again
- 13:28Speaker 1: for legal ramplifications, we have to say he's going to court.
- 13:31Speaker 1: We're not assuming he's guilty. We're just like everybody else,
- 13:34Speaker 1: looking at a ton of evidence that has been thrown
- 13:37Speaker 1: out there already in this initial report.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Usually the Feds don't go after you unless you're they
- 13:45Speaker 4: have a pretty good case. I'm just saying, just throwing
- 13:48Speaker 4: it out there, Cratz. They usually don't go after you
- 13:50Speaker 4: unless they have a pretty good case. And if you're
- 13:54Speaker 4: for teesses in custody, right, worst class is he not
- 13:56Speaker 4: in custody?
- 13:58Speaker 1: No, he's not yet, He's he's not here right, Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Ortiz was in Boston, so he went into custody
- 14:06Speaker 2: or in New England. I think it's up in New
- 14:08Speaker 2: England somewhere somewhere up there.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he was arrested in Massachusetts. Talking about Luis Ortiz.
- 14:15Speaker 1: The Ortiz case, you know, is definitely containing less evidence.
- 14:20Speaker 1: But that doesn't I mean, if you do one time,
- 14:23Speaker 1: the way it works in baseball at least is you're gone.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It's not like, oops, I did that one time? Can
- 14:28Speaker 1: I forgiveness? There is no second strike policy. It's one
- 14:32Speaker 1: time and you're out. And they do have communication with
- 14:35Speaker 1: Class A talking to Ortiz and saying to say, when
- 14:39Speaker 1: you're getting that money sent to you in the dr
- 14:41Speaker 1: to say, it's for repairs at the country house. So
- 14:44Speaker 1: there's a lot here you can read about it. There
- 14:46Speaker 1: are excellent reports and articles on this topic. This episode

- 15:56Speaker 1: honcho Paul Taboni says, f the rules, I'm going to
- 15:59Speaker 1: hire a thirty three year old manager. Oh, and they
- 16:02Speaker 1: say that he should have a bench coach who was
- 16:04Speaker 1: managed before in MLB and been a long time member
- 16:08Speaker 1: of a coaching staff. Are in a dugout? Well, we
- 16:10Speaker 1: get the tweet here from our main man, Ken Rosenthal Here,
- 16:16Speaker 1: a FT senior insider and reports for The Athletic that
- 16:19Speaker 1: Michael Johns, the Race first base coach the past two seasons,
- 16:22Speaker 1: will be the bench coach for Blake Uterra on the
- 16:25Speaker 1: national staff. John's managed the Race Triple A club in
- 16:28Speaker 1: twenty twenty three and five other affiliates over eight seasons.
- 16:32Speaker 1: AJ is that the right choice?
- 16:34Speaker 4: Sure?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Without knowing the person, is that the right choice? Or
- 16:37Speaker 1: not have someone who's got the MLB experience?
- 16:39Speaker 4: Why not? He managed a Raised Triple A club in
- 16:42Speaker 4: twenty thirteen. Sure, anyone wants to be part of the Rays?
- 16:47Speaker 4: So why not?
- 16:48Speaker 2: Sure?
- 16:49Speaker 4: I mean, what do you want me to say? I don't know,
- 16:51Speaker 4: but apparently the Rays are rebuilding after rebuild in another NATS.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:56Speaker 4: I mean, sorry the Nats, Sorry the Rays Nats. I mean,
- 16:58Speaker 4: at this point, I'm getting them all confused because they're
- 17:00Speaker 4: meshing like this, Scott, They're like one the same. That's raise.
- 17:04Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know what they're doing. I mean, sure,
- 17:06Speaker 4: this is great I don't know. They're not currently not
- 17:09Speaker 4: spending any money, so the learners want to sell the team.
- 17:12Speaker 4: So at least we got that going for us. So
- 17:13Speaker 4: you don't have money in the manager or the bench coach.
- 17:15Speaker 4: So we'll see how it goes.
- 17:17Speaker 1: That's why Paul Taboni is smart, because he's going to
- 17:20Speaker 1: get time to do this rebuild and then by the
- 17:23Speaker 1: time that his selections are ready to go, the team
- 17:26Speaker 1: will be sold and then he should get more resources.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So I think it's actually smart on his part. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: think he's going to do a good job to Bonie.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I just think it's going to take time. You see
- 17:38Speaker 1: on this MLB Rumors title here from CBS Sports Padres
- 17:42Speaker 1: close to extending gm AJ Preller. That was coming out
- 17:46Speaker 1: via The Athletic from Dennis Lynn. It sounds like during
- 17:50Speaker 1: the intro press conference for Greg's Stammon, they also are
- 17:54Speaker 1: going to talk about Preller getting an extension. It's actually
- 17:58Speaker 1: pretty controversial if you go off fans. I think he's
- 18:02Speaker 1: had a lot of success bringing the team to the postseason.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I mean Dodger fans are like, oh, just have him
- 18:07Speaker 1: keep leading you to losses? Whatever do we forget? The
- 18:09Speaker 1: Padres were not good for most of their existence, and
- 18:12Speaker 1: they've had a lot of playoff relevancy. I know more
- 18:14Speaker 1: teams make the playoffs now, but Krazinski, I think Preller
- 18:18Speaker 1: overall is doing a good job keeping the team exciting
- 18:20Speaker 1: and putting butts in seats.
- 18:23Speaker 4: He's done a great job. You know why, because he
- 18:25Speaker 4: has a great name. First of all, he has a
- 18:27Speaker 4: great first name. Second of all, he's done good. But
- 18:32Speaker 4: they haven't won. They haven't gotten the ultimate prize, right,
- 18:34Speaker 4: they haven't been able to beat the Dodgers. They haven't
- 18:36Speaker 4: been able to They did twenty two, but they haven't
- 18:38Speaker 4: been able to get the ultimate prize, which is the
- 18:39Speaker 4: World Series. And he's done a really good job with
- 18:42Speaker 4: what he's been dealt with. And the best part about
- 18:44Speaker 4: AJ Preller is he's not afraid to go for it.
- 18:47Speaker 4: He is not afraid to go for it. He goes
- 18:50Speaker 4: for it. He goes for it, and as a fan
- 18:52Speaker 4: and as a Padres fan, you have to love the
- 18:55Speaker 4: fact that he goes for it.
- 18:57Speaker 1: And some of those signings were more Peter Sidler, you know,
- 18:59Speaker 1: when when he was sick, like Bogarts and others. So hey,
- 19:05Speaker 1: we're back, so AJ, we didn't have you for the
- 19:07Speaker 1: first like two minutes of the show, so whatever, Like,
- 19:11Speaker 1: don't yell at me. No, No, I'm doing this because
- 19:13Speaker 1: we missed you Friday. I wasn't on Friday either, and
- 19:16Speaker 1: there were a lot of good topics. So your thoughts
- 19:19Speaker 1: on the rock, he's hiring Deep Podesta, the Rays not
- 19:23Speaker 1: keeping Pete Fairbanks to at least trade him where he's from.
- 19:26Speaker 1: This more in free agency and we can get to
- 19:29Speaker 1: the qualifying off. I have a couple questions there too.
- 19:31Speaker 1: But on those two thoughts, First of.
- 19:34Speaker 4: All, Pete, I hope you get every dollar. I text
- 19:36Speaker 4: him and I'm like, I hope you get every dollar
- 19:37Speaker 4: and buy lots of Legos and have a great career,
- 19:40Speaker 4: because eleven millions not a lot for a really good closer.
- 19:44Speaker 4: And then, second of all, Paul Deepodesta, Yeah, Jonah Hill
- 19:48Speaker 4: didn't nailed him in Moneyball. He was mad because they
- 19:50Speaker 4: made Jonah Hill fat and he's not fat, so he
- 19:52Speaker 4: remember Paul de Podesta was mad about that. But that's
- 19:55Speaker 4: just one of many not actual facts that happened in
- 19:59Speaker 4: that movie that people love so much. And second of all,
- 20:01Speaker 4: I need to call my buddy that owns the Browns
- 20:03Speaker 4: and find out if he's really mad that they got
- 20:05Speaker 4: rid of him or not, because I haven't done that
- 20:07Speaker 4: so I don't know, but yeah, I mean, hey whatever,
- 20:10Speaker 4: at least the Rockies went outside the Rocky box.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Yeah, the Browns have like two losses per every win
- 20:16Speaker 1: since he's been behind the scenes.
- 20:19Speaker 2: How do you go?
- 20:20Speaker 4: This is? This ranks right up there with Jerry Kross.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Remember Jerry Kross was a baseball guy and he went
- 20:23Speaker 4: to basketball and he had Michael Jordan. He's like, oh, look,
- 20:26Speaker 4: how great of a look, how great of an executive
- 20:29Speaker 4: I am in basketball? I mean, yes, you know what, Scott,
- 20:32Speaker 4: I could run the Bulls when they have Michael Jordan,
- 20:34Speaker 4: Scottie pipp and Dennis Rodman, Tony Kuk coach, you know,
- 20:39Speaker 4: Luke Longley, Bill cartright, like I could have probably won
- 20:41Speaker 4: a championship in Phil Jackson. Yeah, Horse tram was in
- 20:47Speaker 4: Orlando magic. Don't ever forget that a.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Sport where there are five players on the court at
- 20:51Speaker 1: one time, and one player can have the ball most
- 20:53Speaker 1: of the time.
- 20:54Speaker 4: All the time, and it's also the best player of
- 20:56Speaker 4: all time, all time, all time and could do so
- 20:59Speaker 4: many things, take all the shots. Yeah, that's usually a
- 21:01Speaker 4: good way to go.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Rockies are a tougher project. Tougher project for.
- 21:06Speaker 4: The Rocks because when they have the ball, the ball
- 21:08Speaker 4: goes out of the park a lot.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Correct, It'll be fun. I like the out of the
- 21:15Speaker 1: box hires for us as a show, it's fun to cover.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Let me get this, John Hammond tweet fired up because
- 21:23Speaker 1: this is a topic we will get to later with
- 21:25Speaker 1: one of our guests who is going to specialize in
- 21:28Speaker 1: some of the talent coming over from Japan. Sable Lions
- 21:31Speaker 1: say they are going to post star pitcher Tatsuya am I,
- 21:34Speaker 1: the righty who throws up to ninety nine miles per hour,
- 21:36Speaker 1: should be one of the top three free agent pitchers.
- 21:39Speaker 1: According to John Hammon. He puts Dylan Seeson from Barbaldez
- 21:42Speaker 1: up there as well. I think Ranger Suarez might have
- 21:44Speaker 1: a beef to pick, a bone to pick, but anyway,
- 21:47Speaker 1: this is going to be a highly coveted pitcher and
- 21:50Speaker 1: it is perfect timing because we just saw what some
- 21:54Speaker 1: other talent from Japan has done really well in the
- 21:57Speaker 1: World Series. Yamamoto obviously otan right, like clearly aj we're
- 22:02Speaker 1: getting talent over from Japan that is showing us maybe
- 22:06Speaker 1: more success than ever. Aside from just those two superstars,
- 22:08Speaker 1: there are plenty of talented players in Japan right now
- 22:11Speaker 1: that are coming over and having instant success.
- 22:14Speaker 4: All Right, we'll see him.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You think they're all going to sign.
- 22:18Speaker 4: In La not Mark.
- 22:21Speaker 1: He's not going to sign Murakamie. I know you guys
- 22:23Speaker 1: talked abou him a little Friday. We're gonna do a
- 22:24Speaker 1: lot more on him. He's not gonna sign with the Dodgers.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I don't think he is.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I'm just saying, what am I am I? How do
- 22:29Speaker 4: you say? Am I?
- 22:30Speaker 1: My?
- 22:32Speaker 4: Am I going to sign with the Dodgers? And are
- 22:35Speaker 4: you going to sign with the Dodgers? I don't know,
- 22:37Speaker 4: but I think he's got to shoot Dodgers.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred and seventy two strikeouts in one hundred
- 22:43Speaker 2: and four innings. That's what he had this past year.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Two hundred million dollars. I think he might get close
- 22:53Speaker 1: to two hundred million dollars.
- 22:56Speaker 2: He's not as refined, he's not as refined command wise
- 23:01Speaker 2: as Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But but but it keeps getting better, right,
- 23:08Speaker 2: Can they continue his trend of throwing more strikes? We'll see.
- 23:14Speaker 1: He's gonna get a lot of money. He's a little
- 23:16Speaker 1: older coming into free agency than Yamamoto is. I think
- 23:19Speaker 1: I think as twenty seven. But if Yamamoto got three fifty,
- 23:22Speaker 1: and even if this is pegged, does at number two
- 23:24Speaker 1: or three starter versus a one at this age, I
- 23:27Speaker 1: think we might be pushing two hundred million. Maybe I'm off,
- 23:30Speaker 1: but krats pop quiz what has thirty five grams of protein,
- 23:37Speaker 1: six grams of fiber, twenty seven essential vitamins and minerals.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Comes in excellent flavors like of course chocolate, vanilla, but chocolate,
- 23:44Speaker 1: peanut butter, my favorite, no added sugar, gluten free, under
- 23:47Speaker 1: five dollars per meal, and is ready to drink.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Go out of the house, get yourself a Shuel. Look
- 23:55Speaker 2: at you. You even have one right there ready to
- 23:57Speaker 2: smack that John h Chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla

- 24:06Speaker 1: forty two vitamins, minerals and superfoods, only twenty five calories

- 24:30Speaker 1: foul and fill out the post checkout survey to help
- 24:33Speaker 1: support FT. There's some beef about awards, so let's show
- 24:38Speaker 1: at least one of these tweets and then we'll get
- 24:40Speaker 1: the other in there. We have time, otherwise we can
- 24:42Speaker 1: put it in and another one of these breaks. First one
- 24:46Speaker 1: is from Lumerloni. He said the Platinum Glove is decided
- 24:49Speaker 1: by the fans, not ten percent, so then coaches, players,
- 24:51Speaker 1: front offices can really pick the winners. There's no way
- 24:54Speaker 1: any postseason award in any sports should be decided by
- 24:56Speaker 1: a fan vote. I had no idea people take these
- 24:59Speaker 1: awards series. Apparently MLB doesn't, so there is a lot
- 25:04Speaker 1: of outrage online. Tatista won Platinum Glove in the National
- 25:07Speaker 1: League and there's like a ton of players from most
- 25:12Speaker 1: Metrics above him A ton in the National League.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Is this true?
- 25:19Speaker 1: I mean, if Lo's tweeting about it, he's pretty dialed in.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I guess I don't pay attention a lot to the
- 25:24Speaker 1: process for those I'm very dialed in on BBWAA, which
- 25:28Speaker 1: are the real major awards out there.
- 25:30Speaker 4: But what do you mean they crushed the gold Gloves.
- 25:33Speaker 4: They put them on a Sunday night. Well, Sunday night
- 25:35Speaker 4: football is going on. Nobody even knew that they were
- 25:37Speaker 4: given out. And they did the same thing with the
- 25:40Speaker 4: Silver Sluggers, which I guess isn't that big of a
- 25:43Speaker 4: deal for slugger or rawlings, But yeah, I didn't even know.
- 25:46Speaker 4: I mean, this is I like the better when the
- 25:51Speaker 4: coaches got to vote on all this stuff and now
- 25:53Speaker 4: it's kind of been given to the fans and front offices,
- 25:55Speaker 4: and I mean, come on, I don't know, I don't know.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Fan vote for awards is tough, all star, I get it. Awards,
- 26:04Speaker 1: that's tough. Fans are going to often treat things like
- 26:08Speaker 1: a popularity contest, which is their right. Why are they
- 26:12Speaker 1: If you're a Padres fan and they do a great
- 26:14Speaker 1: job voting, they're all going to vote for tatis are
- 26:17Speaker 1: gonna be like, I look, I crunch the numbers and
- 26:20Speaker 1: Patrick Bailey actually deserves it. How many fans are going
- 26:23Speaker 1: to do that if they're a Padres fan, No chance,
- 26:28Speaker 1: no chance.
- 26:29Speaker 2: It demeans a little bit of the Platinum Glove, and
- 26:32Speaker 2: I think the other years the Platinum Glove was did
- 26:35Speaker 2: go to the highest rated defender based on a couple
- 26:39Speaker 2: of different metrics. So the fan voting, I'm reading it here,
- 26:44Speaker 2: it's his fans and the Society of American Baseball Research
- 26:47Speaker 2: vote for the Platinum Platinum Glove award. It's a combination
- 26:51Speaker 2: of fan voting and Saber metrics, essentially Saber Defensive Index
- 26:56Speaker 2: determining the winner for each league. I think they got
- 27:00Speaker 2: it wrong this year, but I mean it doesn't mean
- 27:03Speaker 2: that Fernando Tatist didn't have a good year. Okay.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Eric Longenhagen is here. Fangraft's lead prospect analyst put out
- 27:11Speaker 1: a really good article about a week and a half
- 27:14Speaker 1: ago documenting what we should expect from some of the
- 27:17Speaker 1: players coming over from Japan in this free agent process. Eric,
- 27:20Speaker 1: great to have you on. I'm going to focus really
- 27:23Speaker 1: on two players during this conversation. Let us begin with
- 27:26Speaker 1: Munataki Munataka Murakami, and the reason I want to bring
- 27:30Speaker 1: him up first is because he's a big deal out
- 27:32Speaker 1: in Japan. He's got the home run record set in
- 27:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty two fifty six homers. Yet if you look
- 27:37Speaker 1: online there are a lot of very smart analysts and
- 27:40Speaker 1: writers who think that he might end up being the
- 27:43Speaker 1: next Joey Gallo in Major League Baseball with a nine
- 27:47Speaker 1: figure contract. Let's just go right to the good stuff.
- 27:50Speaker 1: What do you think about Mura Khami?
- 27:55Speaker 3: Well, thank first of all, thanks for having me on.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Nice to meet you, guys.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I think if he ends up having a career similar
- 28:03Speaker 5: to Joby Gallo, that you call that a win, Like
- 28:06Speaker 5: a guy who.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Has three forty homer seasons in the big.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Leagues would be a pretty good outcome for someone who
- 28:12Speaker 5: is swinging and missing as much as Murakami has been,
- 28:17Speaker 5: you know, left into power like this is so rare
- 28:19Speaker 5: and special and you can swing it and miss a lot,
- 28:23Speaker 5: and as long as you're getting to your power, you're
- 28:26Speaker 5: a productive and you know, sometimes exceptional big leaguer. But
- 28:31Speaker 5: the list of players whose contact metrics are more in
- 28:35Speaker 5: lockstep with Murakami's, you know, in the big leagues over
- 28:38Speaker 5: the last however, you want to break it up five years,
- 28:40Speaker 5: ten years, you want like a big enough sample of
- 28:42Speaker 5: guys who have had a fairly long career, but but
- 28:45Speaker 5: they're you know, quad A type players some of the
- 28:47Speaker 5: time they're players who once they start getting expensive, they
- 28:49Speaker 5: go to Japan. They're players who you know, once they
- 28:52Speaker 5: hit are four, five six, they maybe get non tendered.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Your Fran mil Ray is is you know.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Players like that?
- 28:59Speaker 5: So that's what you know we're looking at with Murakami
- 29:03Speaker 5: where there's so much swing and miss as you get
- 29:06Speaker 5: into the splits, like some of the splits that I
- 29:08Speaker 5: would be looking at for players coming over from career
- 29:11Speaker 5: or Japan to see how they perform against better velocity,
- 29:14Speaker 5: to see how you know they do, you know, Chase Chase,
- 29:18Speaker 5: watch from a play this standpoint or uh splits against
- 29:21Speaker 5: different specific secondary pitch types. It all gets a little
- 29:25Speaker 5: worse and worse the further you get away from Murakami's
- 29:28Speaker 5: peak couple of seasons, which are now like three years
- 29:31Speaker 5: in the rear view.
- 29:33Speaker 4: All right, So then that's the one thing I asked.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I've seen the stat out there where over ninety three
- 29:38Speaker 4: or something he was not good against ninety three and
- 29:41Speaker 4: plub and above. So how how worried should we be
- 29:44Speaker 4: about these metrics because you're talking about two or three
- 29:47Speaker 4: years ago when he was really great, but his numbers
- 29:49Speaker 4: have declined. All the other analytics have declined. So if
- 29:52Speaker 4: you're a big league team, why would you put you know,
- 29:54Speaker 4: a nine figure deal and a guy that might hit
- 29:56Speaker 4: you forty but he also might strike out thirty to
- 29:59Speaker 4: forty percent of the I'm and not hitching forty homers.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, you know, just to cite it specifically,
- 30:06Speaker 5: I'll do my Tony Kornheiser now where I look at
- 30:08Speaker 5: my notes so I get it right. But yeah, like
- 30:10Speaker 5: between twenty twenty three and twenty twenty five. So this
- 30:12Speaker 5: is like a multi year sample which I wanted to
- 30:14Speaker 5: take with Murakami because he was He's been hurt a
- 30:16Speaker 5: bunch for the last twelve months. Twenty twenty four ended
- 30:19Speaker 5: with injury, he had multiple throughout twenty twenty five. You know,
- 30:23Speaker 5: it's a sixty four percent contact rate overall against fastball's
- 30:27Speaker 5: seventy one percent contact rate ninety three and above sixty
- 30:29Speaker 5: one percent contact rates, And just so like for context,
- 30:34Speaker 5: if I'm just looking at like the big league leader
- 30:36Speaker 5: board for the last handful of seasons, comparable players are
- 30:40Speaker 5: like Bobby Dolbeck and Miguel Sono and Luke Railey and
- 30:44Speaker 5: Christopher Morrell and players who are on the fringe, and.
- 30:48Speaker 3: I think, you know, if you are a team that
- 30:50Speaker 3: has a lot of money such that.
- 30:53Speaker 5: You can risk it for your biscuit on this This
- 30:55Speaker 5: is not a guy who I would expect to actually
- 30:57Speaker 5: be in like the Mariners market, despite their needs, because
- 31:00Speaker 5: they just haven't behaved in a way that would indicate, sure,
- 31:03Speaker 5: we can throw one hundred million dollar contract at a
- 31:06Speaker 5: guy who might swing and miss too much to be
- 31:09Speaker 5: good for very long. But the Dodgers might do something
- 31:13Speaker 5: like that, or the Yankees might do something like that,
- 31:15Speaker 5: or the Red Sox, who'd argue did like a different
- 31:18Speaker 5: version of the same thing with Masataki Yoshida, except where
- 31:20Speaker 5: the power piece was just not there and the defense
- 31:22Speaker 5: piece was not there. You know, they've felt free to
- 31:25Speaker 5: do something, you know, greater than what most of the
- 31:28Speaker 5: industry thought was kosher. In Murakami's case, like you have
- 31:31Speaker 5: to a the injury piece of it could factor into,
- 31:35Speaker 5: you know, your optimism if he's going to get better.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Maybe it's just health. And then the other thing is, yeah,
- 31:42Speaker 5: you have a player development department, and you show Munataka
- 31:45Speaker 5: Murakami to that group and maybe come away with some
- 31:48Speaker 5: preconceived notions about how you might make this guy better. Now,
- 31:54Speaker 5: how much better does he have to be? Like, ultimately,
- 31:57Speaker 5: you don't have to go far down this like swing
- 31:59Speaker 5: and miss leaderboard basically until you get to Tai Oscar Hernandez,
- 32:03Speaker 5: until you get to you know, Aaron Judge and Shoheo
- 32:06Speaker 5: Tani who swing and miss a lot. They're just making
- 32:09Speaker 5: such the quality of their contact and they make contact is
- 32:11Speaker 5: so good. And like Murra Kami is not that type
- 32:15Speaker 5: of physical beast like those guys. Ta Oscar is pretty
- 32:18Speaker 5: close in terms of like Murakami's physicality and hits left handed,
- 32:22Speaker 5: but it is like, you know, it's six percentage points
- 32:26Speaker 5: or so of like worth of contact rate just overall,
- 32:31Speaker 5: but it's like a ten percent bump for the contact
- 32:35Speaker 5: hitter Murakami has been to this point, which is like
- 32:38Speaker 5: pretty big. And I don't know how you guys feel
- 32:40Speaker 5: about it, Kratzy and aj like how much of hitting
- 32:44Speaker 5: is really innate and how much of it can be taught.
- 32:46Speaker 5: I think there's a difference between learning how to hit
- 32:48Speaker 5: and being taught how to hit, And I think some
- 32:52Speaker 5: of the learning could just come with reps. There might
- 32:54Speaker 5: be a learning curve for anyone coming over from Japan
- 32:56Speaker 5: just because of the quality of stuff in the States,
- 33:00Speaker 5: but like there might be some swing maintenance that could
- 33:02Speaker 5: be done to make this a little bit more viable.
- 33:05Speaker 5: And even if you know, like the hitters I mentioned
- 33:07Speaker 5: Miguel Sono, et cetera, like there are peak seasons in
- 33:10Speaker 5: there that you still feel good about overall, Like if
- 33:13Speaker 5: you're a two war plus player, then you should be
- 33:16Speaker 5: making like twenty ish million a year anyway. Like, so
- 33:20Speaker 5: I think that he could get to be that, but
- 33:23Speaker 5: I think the whole subset of teams is just not
- 33:25Speaker 5: going to be in on this guy because of what
- 33:26Speaker 5: the price is going to be for the handful of
- 33:27Speaker 5: teams who think he's going to hit and maybe think
- 33:30Speaker 5: that he can play third base.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I talked to a prominent scout in the game, and
- 33:35Speaker 2: he said, twenty twenty two, the year you were talking about.
- 33:40Speaker 2: He said, it was elite level.
- 33:42Speaker 4: It was elite level.
- 33:43Speaker 2: It was high, it was velocity, it was low, it
- 33:46Speaker 2: was breaking balls, it was in and out. He was
- 33:48Speaker 2: covering everything. So to me, when you bring up somebody
- 33:53Speaker 2: like a Joey Gallo, like you know those types of things,
- 33:56Speaker 2: this is somebody who's done it at a high level.
- 34:00Speaker 2: So that value should still be there because it's not
- 34:04Speaker 2: like he's now on the wrong side of thirty Are
- 34:07Speaker 2: teams putting all this out there saying, Okay, well, you
- 34:11Speaker 2: know this is why we shouldn't pay for him, so
- 34:14Speaker 2: that they squash down this Japanese market for a hitter
- 34:18Speaker 2: who has power that we haven't seen out of Japan.
- 34:22Speaker 2: To me, the ceiling is super high. Besides the fact
- 34:25Speaker 2: that he might not be able to even play defense
- 34:27Speaker 2: in the big leagues. The ceiling is super high. He
- 34:31Speaker 2: just hasn't tapped into it the last few years.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you could argue that.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I think the angle that you're shooting there where it's like,
- 34:39Speaker 5: what wouldn't team sources want to tell the media things
- 34:43Speaker 5: that suppress the player's value. Yeah, And in the same vein,
- 34:48Speaker 5: there are agents for these players who are telling members
- 34:50Speaker 5: of the media the opposite. You know, maybe they would
- 34:55Speaker 5: consider Tatsuya Emi to be the top pitcher on the
- 34:58Speaker 5: market if you're his agent, I bet you do. You
- 35:01Speaker 5: might like have a heavier comp on that guy. And
- 35:04Speaker 5: if you have a friend who likes to tweet and
- 35:07Speaker 5: has a lot of followers and like is maybe influential
- 35:09Speaker 5: in the industry, then yeah, maybe you would hit the
- 35:13Speaker 5: gas pedal a little bit as far as what you
- 35:15Speaker 5: think about, Like, there have been Japanese pictures who have
- 35:17Speaker 5: come over in the past where, you know, pretty transparently
- 35:21Speaker 5: like people before I basically got off social media, you
- 35:25Speaker 5: could see some of the comps being thrown around were
- 35:27Speaker 5: like the same clients for the agent of the Japanese
- 35:32Speaker 5: player that the writer was like comparing him to, Like
- 35:35Speaker 5: it's you know there, there's definitely some of that going on, cratzy.
- 35:38Speaker 5: This is my analysis. It's not my money to spend.
- 35:42Speaker 5: It's it's super easy to say, hey, like this guy's
- 35:45Speaker 5: got seven or eight raw so just give him whatever.
- 35:49Speaker 5: And like maybe you can teach him not to load
- 35:51Speaker 5: so deep, maybe he won't be underneath so many fastballs if.
- 35:55Speaker 3: He's a little shorter to the baseball.
- 35:58Speaker 5: But you know, that's more of a player development piece
- 36:02Speaker 5: rather than a scouting piece. And just from where I'm sitting, like,
- 36:06Speaker 5: there has to be either a rebound like you're talking about,
- 36:11Speaker 5: or a mechanical change, some positive player development for him
- 36:15Speaker 5: to be the sort of player who justifies, you know,
- 36:18Speaker 5: like an enormous, enormous contract. But I still like him
- 36:22Speaker 5: as a player, Like I still have him graded essentially
- 36:24Speaker 5: as like an average everyday player, not.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Some god like you know, forty Homer.
- 36:30Speaker 5: He's hitting two fifty plus with like, you know, a
- 36:33Speaker 5: three eighty OBP. Like that's not necessarily what I think
- 36:36Speaker 5: this guy's gonna be. I think it's gonna be frustrating.
- 36:38Speaker 5: And you know, the other thing to mention Eric is
- 36:43Speaker 5: like rookie Sasaki at one point was hey, he's done
- 36:47Speaker 5: this before, and this is how it looked.
- 36:49Speaker 3: And then it trended worse for a couple of years.
- 36:53Speaker 5: And I thought to myself, well, we've seen it in
- 36:55Speaker 5: there before, why wouldn't be able to be able to
- 36:58Speaker 5: see it in there again? And then he went to
- 37:00Speaker 5: the Dodgers, who are as good as developing players as anyone,
- 37:04Speaker 5: and there were real struggles, Like it wasn't just that
- 37:06Speaker 5: putting on that uniform was a panacea for his issues.
- 37:08Speaker 5: And so you know, I sort of have the same
- 37:12Speaker 5: point of view as Murkami is concerned.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Eric one more on this, and then I want to
- 37:18Speaker 1: make sure we get a few minutes on the other
- 37:20Speaker 1: name on Ami. How much does age factor into the
- 37:25Speaker 1: entire value of what we're talking about here? We almost
- 37:28Speaker 1: never have young free agents for baseball terms. Front offices
- 37:33Speaker 1: live and die off of projection models and age curves.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Some of this does have to do with the fact that, yes,
- 37:40Speaker 1: it's a lottery ticket, but he's twenty five years old.
- 37:43Speaker 1: You can get better at twenty five years old, and
- 37:45Speaker 1: you also can't find twenty five year old position players
- 37:48Speaker 1: with high upside on the market. So curious for your
- 37:51Speaker 1: take there, and if you can mix into the part
- 37:54Speaker 1: you said about mechanics, We've seen many guys adjust mechanically,
- 37:58Speaker 1: whether they're here at that age or from overseas. Again,
- 38:01Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm just presenting the other side here
- 38:03Speaker 1: where we had like our pre production call and Crafts
- 38:05Speaker 1: was like they said this about say a Suzuki, and
- 38:08Speaker 1: he came over and he's been a pretty good player
- 38:10Speaker 1: in the big leagues.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Good.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with that. I think that there's a
- 38:15Speaker 5: difference between the evaluation and the valuation, and his age
- 38:23Speaker 5: is a positive variable impacting the way you value that guy.
- 38:28Speaker 5: But the swing and miss stuff is still there, and
- 38:31Speaker 5: twenty five is twenty five.
- 38:32Speaker 3: It's not thirty.
- 38:34Speaker 5: And I agree that it's better for him to be
- 38:35Speaker 5: twenty five than for him to be twenty nine. But
- 38:38Speaker 5: the athlete we're talking about here is not a projectable athlete.
- 38:42Speaker 5: It's not like Jacob de Gram where he's just sorry,
- 38:45Speaker 5: the Hill's angels are my bodyguards.
- 38:48Speaker 1: It's not like good line that.
- 38:51Speaker 5: It's not like the their kids in my neighborhood are
- 38:54Speaker 5: tool around on their motorcycles.
- 38:55Speaker 3: I'm just jealous of the I'm not mad the.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Murkami's like maxed out, like he's twenty five, but he's
- 39:01Speaker 5: not really projectable in the way that some guys are
- 39:04Speaker 5: physically projectable deep into their twenties and and maybe even beyond.
- 39:08Speaker 5: This is like a stout, physically dense, like maxed out
- 39:12Speaker 5: guy where I don't necessarily see there being the sort
- 39:16Speaker 5: of like projection I was taught to include in my report,
- 39:20Speaker 5: like when I'm assessing someone's peak in the future, doesn't
- 39:24Speaker 5: really exist with this guy visually and athletically. It only
- 39:27Speaker 5: exists in his age as just a number. So that
- 39:32Speaker 5: is where a little bit of like my tepid enthusiasm
- 39:36Speaker 5: for that sort of comes in. But yeah, I think
- 39:38Speaker 5: he's a good player, just not like you know, there
- 39:40Speaker 5: will have to be changes. I think if if he's
- 39:42Speaker 5: going to be an absolute beast, Hey.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Jay, you there last one? Nope, not un to dude,
- 39:52Speaker 1: I think you're muted?
- 39:55Speaker 4: What he muted me? Scott? Am I? I want to know.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Am I going to the dog? Am? I going to
- 40:01Speaker 4: the dogs? But what's his projection he is? Can he
- 40:06Speaker 4: be a top end starter like Showdack came in his
- 40:08Speaker 4: first year was a huge deal. Or you have Roki
- 40:11Speaker 4: who didn't really do much till the postseason. Where does
- 40:14Speaker 4: a my stand on that?
- 40:16Speaker 5: Yeah, he's really interesting. I think some of what you
- 40:18Speaker 5: guys alluded to before I hopped on where you mentioned
- 40:21Speaker 5: that his strike throwing has improved year over year for
- 40:25Speaker 5: like the last three four years, and that's true, But
- 40:28Speaker 5: I think some of what was at play with Roki
- 40:31Speaker 5: is definitely at play with Imai too, where when you
- 40:34Speaker 5: throw as hard as these guys do in Japan, they
- 40:36Speaker 5: just chase it more often, And I think some of
- 40:38Speaker 5: your strike throwing looks a little bit better because you're
- 40:40Speaker 5: gifted chase. And I think there's some of that going
- 40:43Speaker 5: on for Emai. But I really love him. Like the
- 40:47Speaker 5: durability piece of this, they really left these obviously, Like
- 40:49Speaker 5: the week to week schedule was different for Japanese starters
- 40:53Speaker 5: than big league starters. But the durability piece here, this
- 40:56Speaker 5: guy was like sitting in the mid nineties comfortably at
- 40:58Speaker 5: the very end of the season, and his fastball has
- 41:01Speaker 5: real ride. His slider's excellent. He's really athletic, Like this
- 41:06Speaker 5: is a really loose, whippy armed guy. He's deceptive because
- 41:11Speaker 5: of the arm speed piece. He does not show hitters
- 41:13Speaker 5: the ball until late. You know, you see him laying
- 41:16Speaker 5: back like and you know he's he's parallel with the ground.
- 41:20Speaker 5: So as an athlete, I really like him. His stuff
- 41:23Speaker 5: is great. He just sure looks like a starter to
- 41:25Speaker 5: me athletically and from a stuff standpoint, And I do
- 41:29Speaker 5: think that the command piece of it is more fine
- 41:33Speaker 5: than good. Definitely, you know, three three grades basically behind
- 41:38Speaker 5: where I had Yamamoto when he was coming over, where
- 41:40Speaker 5: Yamamoto was just like, you know, like I've had peak
- 41:44Speaker 5: granky cumps on Yamamoto basically coming over he might, I think,
- 41:49Speaker 5: is gonna be a good team's like third starter, Like
- 41:52Speaker 5: he does strike me as the type of guy who
- 41:54Speaker 5: can take the ball as a starter in a playoff series.
- 41:56Speaker 3: That's how good he is.
- 41:58Speaker 5: Where the durability piece and this and the athleticism check
- 42:02Speaker 5: you know, those boxes pretty emphatically, and.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Then we'll see.
- 42:05Speaker 5: I think there's maybe some room for improvement for him
- 42:07Speaker 5: delivery wise. I don't know if you guys have seen
- 42:10Speaker 5: video of him, Like he's pretty short striding guy. I
- 42:12Speaker 5: think he's more athletic than that and could like maybe
- 42:14Speaker 5: stand to get down the mound a little bit more even,
- 42:16Speaker 5: and there might even be like some positive improvements for him,
- 42:19Speaker 5: I think once he comes comes over here, depending on
- 42:21Speaker 5: the org, but yeah, I think he's quite good and
- 42:24Speaker 5: it's going to get a big, big deal. You know,
- 42:28Speaker 5: Ben Clemens, who does our top fifty free agents over
- 42:30Speaker 5: at Fangrafts, has him stuff pretty good, and you know
- 42:33Speaker 5: I advise on that and more or less agreed with
- 42:34Speaker 5: where Ben's got him.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's my good picture.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Eric, good stuff, Man, appreciate it. You can find much
- 42:42Speaker 1: more on this topic, of course on Fangraphs, and Eric
- 42:45Speaker 1: has a right up, including many others that we're asked
- 42:46Speaker 1: about in the chat. We just don't have time right now,
- 42:48Speaker 1: but other players coming through, maybe we'll bring him back. Eric,
- 42:51Speaker 1: Thank you, appreciate it.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Man, talk to you know. I hope see you guys
- 42:55Speaker 3: the six.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Hundred and fifty five day drought is over. The have
- 43:00Speaker 1: turned their replies back on for a post that was
- 43:05Speaker 1: very coordinated. They said, from silver sluggerstall starts to Grand
- 43:09Speaker 1: Slams this season, that's some pretty electric highlights. Comment your
- 43:11Speaker 1: favorite home run our guys hit this year. Guess what
- 43:16Speaker 1: most of the replies were about the reason they turned
- 43:22Speaker 1: it off. Yeah, but also just like have some balls,
- 43:25Speaker 1: just leave it on. Who cares if people are criticizing
- 43:29Speaker 1: you a duh. Every organization is going to get praised
- 43:33Speaker 1: and criticized. This one's going to receive more of it.
- 43:35Speaker 1: So they've just stripped the city of a team. But
- 43:38Speaker 1: there were fans in there that were actually commenting, answering
- 43:41Speaker 1: the question. And yeah, you're going to get criticism because
- 43:44Speaker 1: you don't really address the problem and your owner is
- 43:47Speaker 1: a fool. It is what it is. It's crazy to
- 43:51Speaker 1: me that they went this long. That's like almost two
- 43:53Speaker 1: years where you can't reply to It's like why even
- 43:56Speaker 1: have the account?
- 43:59Speaker 2: It makes your connection if you watch, if you watch
- 44:02Speaker 2: anybody go to a video post anything, most people go
- 44:06Speaker 2: down to the comments unless you are specifically trained to
- 44:09Speaker 2: be like Nope, I don't recomment because they're negative or
- 44:13Speaker 2: whatever it is. People go right down to the comments.
- 44:16Speaker 2: This just inhibits so much fan engagement with your team,
- 44:20Speaker 2: which is so crazy to me, Like doesn't this team
- 44:24Speaker 2: want that? It almost to be from major League Baseball.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and also it makes people laugh. Best comment was
- 44:31Speaker 1: from a guy named Joe Martin Fisher's favorites where the
- 44:34Speaker 1: two are judge homers in his minor league ballpark.
- 44:40Speaker 2: That's good, good, great time. His own words. It was
- 44:46Speaker 2: his own words, like we're getting to laugh, John, You're
- 44:48Speaker 2: a funny guy. All the others say you're a funny guy,
- 44:50Speaker 2: Like we can get laughs. It's okay.
- 44:53Speaker 1: It's called social media.
- 44:56Speaker 4: True. By the way, the gap in Orlando shutdown. I
- 44:58Speaker 4: don't know what what Fisher's doing, but not only has
- 45:00Speaker 4: he moved the team from Oakland to Vegas, but the
- 45:03Speaker 4: gap closed in our mall, which I never thought I
- 45:05Speaker 4: would see.
- 45:05Speaker 2: The gap.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Who Fisher owns I guess.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yes he does, perhaps selling it to stack up to
- 45:12Speaker 1: be able to pay for the ball.
- 45:14Speaker 4: The gap, like everybody used to go to the gap.
- 45:16Speaker 4: The Gap was the ship back in the day. The
- 45:18Speaker 4: Gap was the spot. No.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Apparently his name and face affiliated with the company does
- 45:24Speaker 1: not help the cause let's slap a lot of beef
- 45:30Speaker 1: today and we're gonna do a bonus few minutes on
- 45:32Speaker 1: YouTube before we send people to the Dodgers' Territory Live show.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Do you guys want to hear from Jason Kelcey or
- 45:40Speaker 1: the beef with the Dodgers and Drake pick one.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Kelsey neither.
- 45:51Speaker 4: I was gonna say the Drake one seems more real.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Let's do Kelsey here and then we'll do the Drake
- 45:57Speaker 1: one for after slap. We're gonna stamp baseball for what.
- 46:04Speaker 6: Listen, just because the Phillies didn't make it doesn't mean
- 46:08Speaker 6: the World Series wasn't absolutely epic. That was the awesome
- 46:12Speaker 6: seven games of baseball. Man, it was back and forth. Yeah,
- 46:15Speaker 6: both teams had their had their shining moments. Blue Jays
- 46:18Speaker 6: are up all game going into the eighth inning.
- 46:21Speaker 4: So you're telling me I'm supposed to get excited about
- 46:24Speaker 4: a Canadian baseball team and.
- 46:26Speaker 6: A team that just spends more money than everybody else
- 46:29Speaker 6: who cares about either. Both of them spend more money
- 46:31Speaker 6: than everybody's.
- 46:32Speaker 2: It's baseball.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why baseball sucks.
- 46:34Speaker 6: That's why baseball, say he is buy World Series championships,
- 46:37Speaker 6: is the dumbest thing in the world. I was enjoyed
- 46:39Speaker 6: out of it.
- 46:40Speaker 3: It's exciting, it's exciting.
- 46:42Speaker 4: It's exciting that the team that spent the most money
- 46:44Speaker 4: and everybody knew was going to win the World Series
- 46:46Speaker 4: won the World Series.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Hmm, I don't watch this.
- 46:49Speaker 4: I didn't even want to justify this. I hope he
- 46:52Speaker 4: was kidding, because listen, I'll give Travis credit because he
- 46:55Speaker 4: stood up for the right thing. But the Chiefs, who
- 46:58Speaker 4: his brother plays for, goes to the Super Bowl every year, right,
- 47:01Speaker 4: and they're like, oh, the Chiefs, the Chiefs, and we
- 47:03Speaker 4: have a salary cap the Chiefs. It's all good. And
- 47:05Speaker 4: then the Eagles are the other team that wins. So
- 47:07Speaker 4: it's Chiefs and Eagles, the two teams these guys played for.
- 47:09Speaker 4: And then you go back and it was the Patriots
- 47:11Speaker 4: forever that won every Super Bowl. So what is he
- 47:14Speaker 4: talking about? He just he wanted us to talk about it.
- 47:17Speaker 4: We talked about it. Congratulations JAYC. Way to go. Woo
- 47:20Speaker 4: who you got your clickbait?
- 47:23Speaker 2: He said. He started it out, I say, do you
- 47:26Speaker 2: want me to cheer for a baseball team in Canada? Like,
- 47:29Speaker 2: come on, come on? And then he's and then they're
- 47:32Speaker 2: cutting in that out. There's funny satire there, good funny satire.
- 47:36Speaker 2: So don't take it as he hates baseball. He doesn't
- 47:40Speaker 2: hate baseball. There, he's on it, he gets it.
- 47:44Speaker 4: Travis crat though, Travis stood up. Travis did the right thing.
- 47:46Speaker 4: He stoo up because it was a great series. Whether
- 47:48Speaker 4: you want to reform or not, Jason, it was a
- 47:50Speaker 4: great world series cocing, So kudos to Travis.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Yeah. See, I don't follow either of them much. I
- 47:59Speaker 1: do know Jason's definitely got a little bit of comic
- 48:02Speaker 1: vibes to him, so I think he's just messing around.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I know he's a diehard Phillies fan, so he's probably
- 48:08Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Shouldn't you be a Reds fan? SINCEI and his brother
- 48:12Speaker 4: from Cincinnati? Oh wait, you know they don't care about
- 48:14Speaker 4: that theah.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Travis. Travis doesn't say. He doesn't say Cincinnati, University
- 48:22Speaker 2: of Cincinnati. He says New Heights High School?
- 48:26Speaker 1: Does he really?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Yes? Watch the watch their next you know when they
- 48:30Speaker 2: announce you know, Eric, big game tonight, Big game tonight
- 48:35Speaker 2: for the Philly Boys. Oh yeah, Eagles, Packers, go Birds.
- 48:42Speaker 2: But yeah, so you gotta you gotta say the college
- 48:45Speaker 2: that you're from, because I was hanging out with somebody
- 48:46Speaker 2: last night who was from Cincinnati's like, I'm pissed. He
- 48:50Speaker 2: never says university is Cincinnati. He says it's high school.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Because I was laughing. I always liked that part of it.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Is Taylor Smift went, was thatver? Taylor Swift went, that's
- 48:59Speaker 4: what Travis.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Don't.
- 49:02Speaker 2: I don't know where else.
- 49:04Speaker 1: We'll show the Drake stuff after the show goes off
- 49:07Speaker 1: for TV. We have sixty seconds. Woodriff got a qualifying offer.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Giolito did not. And Oh, Trent Grisham, I know you
- 49:16Speaker 1: brought up the other day Kratz. I actually was kind
- 49:18Speaker 1: of surprised him. But I was surprised that he got
- 49:20Speaker 1: a qualifying offer. I know you said you thought.
- 49:22Speaker 2: I'm not thinking it does.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was surprised he got one. Woodriff. I
- 49:28Speaker 1: guess you could be surprised that it's the Brewers that
- 49:32Speaker 1: are offering it, but well, I mean they clearly think
- 49:35Speaker 1: that he is looking like an ace and they weren't
- 49:38Speaker 1: worried about.
- 49:38Speaker 2: The lat Yeah. And I think basically the qualifying offer
- 49:43Speaker 2: is a team that's okay having that player at essentially
- 49:46Speaker 2: twenty two million dollars. It's not quite twenty two, but
- 49:49Speaker 2: it's And so the Yankees are okay with having a
- 49:52Speaker 2: one year stop gap in center field with Trent Grisham.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Right, we're back. We have the Drake clip, so we'll
- 49:59Speaker 1: go to that for the last few minutes of the
- 50:02Speaker 1: Bonus Show. Let's run it.
- 50:06Speaker 7: I tried to keep like, I tried to stay humble,
- 50:08Speaker 7: don't talk too much or but I.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Mean, that doesn't go nice. You know, like when you
- 50:12Speaker 3: do something like that, when.
- 50:14Speaker 7: You kind of like disrespect a little bit the best
- 50:16Speaker 7: player in the game, not understanding the quality of like
- 50:20Speaker 7: the person and and what the guy has done for baseball,
- 50:23Speaker 7: it's really hard to jump into conclusions at that time.
- 50:26Speaker 7: You know, we lose Game three, ja Savage through a
- 50:29Speaker 7: really good game and we're not doing anything else and
- 50:32Speaker 7: kind of like praise the guy because he pitched the ball.
- 50:35Speaker 7: He threw the ball really well, he pitched an amazing game.
- 50:37Speaker 7: He's a different pitcher, he's a unicorn on the pitching side.
- 50:41Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden, we.
- 50:42Speaker 7: Got this guy right here, you know, like we all
- 50:45Speaker 7: know who he is, but.
- 50:47Speaker 3: You don't have to do that.
- 50:48Speaker 7: Man, I show him, Danny, He's been doing everything and
- 50:51Speaker 7: anything for baseball.
- 50:54Speaker 1: So you know, Drake showed Otani striking out and said,
- 50:58Speaker 1: savage already on the way to the dugout boss hellol
- 51:03Speaker 1: Dodgers used it as bulletin board material and they had
- 51:06Speaker 1: a lot of fun with it, I guess once they
- 51:08Speaker 1: were celebrating, and also in the ballpark. Also, the Dodgers
- 51:12Speaker 1: always played Kendrick Lamar's a little dis track that went
- 51:18Speaker 1: uh platinum or whatever the heck they call it these days,
- 51:21Speaker 1: they not like us so fun, beef cute. I think
- 51:26Speaker 1: it's cute.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Drake's from Drake's from the six, right, so he stood
- 51:30Speaker 4: up for his team. There's a Drake curse forever, right,
- 51:33Speaker 4: yea Drake, where's your jersey? Or in trouble? I mean,
- 51:35Speaker 4: that's that's stakes I mean.
- 51:37Speaker 1: But but also like he posted a picture of him
- 51:41Speaker 1: striking out, did he was there something else that I missed? Like,
- 51:45Speaker 1: that's pretty playful and fun.
- 51:47Speaker 4: It's pretty awesome. He's a fan though, Yeah, why they
- 51:50Speaker 4: unlike Jason? They unlike Jason, Unlike Jason Kelsey. I mean,
- 51:55Speaker 4: Drake is a so good for him. He was rotten
- 51:58Speaker 4: for his team. Right, he was watching.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I give him just showing a strikeout is bad.
- 52:04Speaker 4: That is a kind of an iconic photo though. There's
- 52:06Speaker 4: just kind of an iconic photo of your tray Savage
- 52:08Speaker 4: and the one where uh to hit the home bloody
- 52:11Speaker 4: hit the home run, and he's like, I mean there's
- 52:14Speaker 4: two two photos in the Blue Jays still lost, which
- 52:17Speaker 4: is kind of funny. That's kind of more what they're saying.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Two more things I want to do the guest list
- 52:21Speaker 1: on our way out. But also the big debate in
- 52:23Speaker 1: the chat today was best starting pitcher in the Dodgers rotation?
- 52:28Speaker 1: Is it not Yamamoto in the power rankings right now?
- 52:31Speaker 1: Pretty clearly? I mean people were talking about Otani. I
- 52:34Speaker 1: guess maybe I don't know if anyone puts Sneller or
- 52:36Speaker 1: last night out there, but Yamamoto.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Easy, No, Yamamoto's all the way up. Nothing can stop them.
- 52:42Speaker 1: That's good. That's good. Uh krats hats on the way out.
- 52:47Speaker 1: And while you're getting that ready, Ken Rosenthal, Skip Schumacher
- 52:52Speaker 1: and Tommy Kinley. On Wednesday tomorrow we have Jase Tingler
- 52:56Speaker 1: and we will go over the al MVP debate with
- 52:58Speaker 1: Ryan Divish and Chris kirsh Or for the Mariners versus
- 53:01Speaker 1: the Yankee side Krats.
- 53:03Speaker 2: People forget they lost their two pitches that we talked
- 53:06Speaker 2: about the top and the Guardians still made the playoffs.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Bet MGM put this out on ig. How did they do?
- 53:20Speaker 1: MLB Champs? Ranking the last ten? They have the twenty
- 53:23Speaker 1: twenty four Dodgers one, the twenty seventeen Astros two, Oh boy,
- 53:29Speaker 1: the twenty sixteen Cubs, three, the twenty twenty five Dodgers
- 53:32Speaker 1: for the twenty twenty two Astros five, then the twenty
- 53:36Speaker 1: eighteen Red Sox, twenty twenty Dodgers, twenty nineteen. That's twenty
- 53:38Speaker 1: twenty one Braves and twenty twenty three Texas Rangers. I
- 53:41Speaker 1: feel like the Astros is a whole other category. I mean,
- 53:44Speaker 1: do you want to slice and dice anything else on here.
- 53:47Speaker 4: I'm I'm gonna let Crafts talk about their twenty seventeen
- 53:50Speaker 4: Astros just because he seems like he would know more
- 53:54Speaker 4: than I would about what happened there.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I mean it, I feel like MGM was maybe trying
- 54:02Speaker 2: to get us to look at the list when you
- 54:04Speaker 2: put the Astros that high. That twenty two Astros team,
- 54:08Speaker 2: that was nice. The seventeen one. I think maybe maybe
- 54:13Speaker 2: it's too soon, but Joe Girardi told us Joe Girardi
- 54:16Speaker 2: told us get over it, get over it.
- 54:19Speaker 1: So yeah, but you can still rank them ten since
- 54:22Speaker 1: they got in big trouble and you don't know what
- 54:24Speaker 1: really happened, like, I.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Mean there have to be ten. No, we know what happened. Ten.
- 54:29Speaker 4: Actually we know what happened. There's no like we don't
- 54:32Speaker 4: know what we know.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I'm saying what they would have been like if they
- 54:35Speaker 1: didn't have that advantage. So here we go. I tried
- 54:38Speaker 1: to get us away from them, and we just can't.
- 54:41Speaker 1: That dominates the list, It dominates the comments. Anything else
- 54:44Speaker 1: on there that stood out.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Twenty fifteen Royals need to be much higher.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Sorry, okay, h the twenty fifteen Royals are not in
- 54:56Speaker 1: the last ten.
- 54:57Speaker 4: Yes, so we're Yeah, that's a from Krats.
- 55:03Speaker 1: We went from twenty sixteen on oh sixteen. I was like, wait,
- 55:07Speaker 1: are you?
- 55:09Speaker 4: I thought he was trying to help.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Yeah, if we did a list on the top fifteen
- 55:14Speaker 1: or top twenty, yes we can put them higher.
- 55:16Speaker 4: But Krats, you're not allowed to put the team you
- 55:18Speaker 4: were on. Trust me, I learned when I did my
- 55:20Speaker 4: my list for Fox the last time.
- 55:22Speaker 2: That's the only reason I wanted to say it.
- 55:24Speaker 4: Yeah, people, you're not allowed to pick your own team?
- 55:27Speaker 4: Why not?
- 55:28Speaker 1: This was really really productive. Hey there's a Pro Football
