- 0:00Speaker 1: Now more Mark Simone on 710WOR.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Well, hey, I just want to remind you, it's still summer.
- 0:14Speaker 2: The last day of summer is the 22nd of September,
- 0:18Speaker 2: which means two weeks from today is the first day
- 0:23Speaker 2: of fall. Two weeks from today is when fall begins,
- 0:26Speaker 2: so it's still summer. Hard to remember that when tonight
- 0:31Speaker 2: is opening night, NFL season begins tonight. And it's not
- 0:36Speaker 2: just any game. It's a repeat of the Super Bowl.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's the Seahawks and the Patriots. The Super Bowl teams
- 0:44Speaker 2: will play tonight. So it'll be a rematch. It's going
- 0:47Speaker 2: to be a big, huge game. It'll be 8.30 tonight
- 0:50Speaker 2: on television, NFL. So President Trump came up with a
- 0:54Speaker 2: brilliant idea. A midterm convention. They always have the convention
- 0:59Speaker 2: in the presidential year. This is brilliant. I don't know
- 1:02Speaker 2: why somebody didn't think of this before. A midterm convention. Well,
- 1:06Speaker 2: it seemed brilliant on paper, but I don't know who
- 1:09Speaker 2: scheduled this, but the president is to speak tonight at 8.30.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Opposite him will be opening night at the NFL and
- 1:18Speaker 2: not just any game, a rematch of the Super Bowl.
- 1:21Speaker 2: So I don't know who did the scheduling, but... Somebody
- 1:25Speaker 2: should be getting yelled at right now. And the other
- 1:28Speaker 2: problem is, as great as this sounds, the conventions, you know,
- 1:33Speaker 2: years ago, the political conventions every year, every election year,
- 1:39Speaker 2: were a big deal. Everybody would watch them. You know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: they'd run them on television. Every network would broadcast them
- 1:44Speaker 2: for three hours, you know, 8 to 11 every night.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You'd see the political conventions. They were amazing to watch.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But in recent years, in recent elections... You really don't
- 1:54Speaker 2: see them anymore. They don't run them from 8 to 11.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Sometimes they run highlights. Maybe 10 to 11, they'll run it.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And very few people watch network television anymore. And tonight,
- 2:05Speaker 2: the networks aren't going to carry this Republican convention. So
- 2:09Speaker 2: I don't know who's going to see it. Fox News
- 2:11Speaker 2: has said they'll cover it, which is great. You'll get
- 2:12Speaker 2: to watch it. And you should. But I would assume
- 2:17Speaker 2: the president, the Republicans, already have the Fox News viewers.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It's not going to make much difference. You want to
- 2:24Speaker 2: reach independent voters. How are you going to reach them?
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's not going to be on anywhere. It's not going
- 2:29Speaker 2: to get much coverage. I mean, it'll be streamed live.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I'm sure you can watch it on YouTube or anywhere.
- 2:34Speaker 2: So we'll see what effect it has. The president will
- 2:36Speaker 2: speak tonight. J.D. Vance will speak tomorrow night. Tomorrow's the
- 2:40Speaker 2: anniversary of the death of Charlie Kirk. J.D. Vance was
- 2:44Speaker 2: very close to Charlie Kirk. So that'll be part of
- 2:47Speaker 2: his speech tomorrow night. The good news, Jimmy Kimmel is finished, canceled.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I know ABC keeps denying it, but they don't really
- 2:56Speaker 2: deny it. He couldn't get a new contract this time
- 3:01Speaker 2: when his contract ended. Normally you get a three-year contract,
- 3:04Speaker 2: five-year contract, something like that. He couldn't get a new
- 3:08Speaker 2: contract this time. Instead, they gave him a one-year extension,
- 3:12Speaker 2: which is considered the biggest insult in broadcasting when they
- 3:15Speaker 2: will only give you a one-year extension, so. His one-year
- 3:19Speaker 2: extension will be up pretty soon, but the word is
- 3:23Speaker 2: he'll have one more season, which begins right now, September,
- 3:26Speaker 2: and ends in May. So that'll be the end of Kimmel, May.
- 3:30Speaker 2: He'll go off the air in May. Now, ABC is
- 3:33Speaker 2: putting out these statements saying, well, that's just Internet speculation.
- 3:38Speaker 2: It's just speculation. I keep hearing this from inside there.
- 3:44Speaker 2: If it's not true, announce a new contract if you're ABC.
- 3:48Speaker 2: If it's not true, sign them to a new contract.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Announce a new contract. Sign them up for three years.
- 3:55Speaker 2: They won't do it. You'll see them go off the
- 3:57Speaker 2: air in May. That'll be the end of Kimmel. Very,
- 4:00Speaker 2: very low-rated show. And Colbert went off the air, and
- 4:04Speaker 2: CBS is very happy. They don't have the headaches of Colbert.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And the replacement show, the one from Byron Allen, is
- 4:12Speaker 2: doing great. In 18 to 49, which is the most
- 4:16Speaker 2: important ratings category, it's crushing Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's doing great. 18 to 49-year-olds doing big numbers. So
- 4:26Speaker 2: look for ABC to replace Kimmel with a real actual
- 4:29Speaker 2: comedy show, not an angry political show with an agenda,
- 4:33Speaker 2: but an actual comedy show. So once again, the Apple
- 4:38Speaker 2: big announcement today, 1 o'clock. Apple will do the whole
- 4:40Speaker 2: presentation tomorrow. Big new iPhone coming out, the foldable phone
- 4:44Speaker 2: that opens, new watch, new earbuds, all sorts of stuff,
- 4:49Speaker 2: so keep an eye on that. I'm also keeping an
- 4:52Speaker 2: eye on, you know, the big bombshell was released by
- 4:54Speaker 2: Mayor Mamdani. He found in the basement of City Hall
- 4:59Speaker 2: all these documents that show that after September 11th, the
- 5:04Speaker 2: city of New York, all its officials, the city, the state,
- 5:07Speaker 2: the federal government, they knew, they had reports, that the
- 5:11Speaker 2: air quality was bad, dangerous, poisonous. And you can see
- 5:16Speaker 2: in the documents that they were being told that if
- 5:20Speaker 2: this came out publicly, the liability amount would be catastrophic,
- 5:27Speaker 2: that the city would have to pay out all these
- 5:29Speaker 2: liability settlements. So they deliberately covered it up, deliberately covered
- 5:35Speaker 2: it up. Now, they've released these bombshell documents, but... I
- 5:40Speaker 2: don't know, it doesn't seem to be getting the attention
- 5:42Speaker 2: you think it would. It's getting a little coverage, but
- 5:44Speaker 2: it's not the front page. It's not the first story.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's not getting, let me just look at the New
- 5:50Speaker 2: York Post here, and it's not getting huge coverage. You know,
- 5:54Speaker 2: it's like story number 15. So we'll see. Why would
- 5:58Speaker 2: Mamdani release this? Because he hates Giuliani, Pataki, he hates everybody.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It was the Bush administration. It's to damage them. It's
- 6:06Speaker 2: to make them John Stewart was there for the press conference.
- 6:11Speaker 2: And listen, John Stewart's right about this.
- 6:14Speaker 3: There was poison in the air and on the ground
- 6:18Speaker 3: and in the windowsills and in your air conditioners and
- 6:22Speaker 3: covering your pets and your clothes. And it stayed there
- 6:28Speaker 3: for months. Everyone knew.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Pretty bad. Mamdani.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I'm proud to be the mayor of this city. I
- 6:35Speaker 4: love this city. I love this country. And what I
- 6:37Speaker 4: want this week to be a focus on is on
- 6:40Speaker 4: the families whose loved ones were stolen from them 25
- 6:43Speaker 4: years ago.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but in the middle of this, he releases this
- 6:46Speaker 2: report condemning these city officials at the time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: These are documents that show what the city knew about
- 6:53Speaker 1: the toxic air around Ground Zero, when they knew it,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and how they acted to limit liability. They contain details
- 7:02Speaker 1: about DEP's response. They show how asbestos was found nearly
- 7:06Speaker 1: everywhere that inspectors tested. And they will help New Yorkers
- 7:10Speaker 1: access the health care they need.
- 7:12Speaker 2: So he's come to realize in the last few weeks
- 7:14Speaker 2: that when he goes to the 9-11 ceremony, everybody's going
- 7:17Speaker 2: to be looking at him as like he's some kind
- 7:19Speaker 2: of villain. He's like horrible. So Pataki and the other
- 7:24Speaker 2: officials that will be there will be thought of as heroes.
- 7:26Speaker 2: He's doing this so that they're thought of as villains.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But as I said, it's not getting that much attention.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So we'll see. We'll see what happens with this. The
- 7:39Speaker 2: data centers, Howard Lutnick, Commerce Secretary, he's out there defending
- 7:43Speaker 2: these data centers.
- 7:44Speaker 1: So think about it.
- 7:45Speaker 3: These AI things, they suck water and they need water, right?
- 7:50Speaker 3: And so they need a plumber, but not a plumber plumber.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, the water problem, they'll solve that
- 7:56Speaker 2: because they've already figured out how to recycle the water
- 7:59Speaker 2: and not use that much. I mean, data centers don't
- 8:02Speaker 2: use water.
- 8:03Speaker 3: The data centers, this is propaganda by our adversaries to
- 8:07Speaker 3: try to slow us down.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Well, so what's the problem with a data center? It's
- 8:12Speaker 2: a big, ugly building. I mean, it's not ugly, but
- 8:13Speaker 2: it's just a big, massive building if it's in your neighborhood.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I mean, the good thing is it creates a lot
- 8:19Speaker 2: of jobs. And it really helps you with the data center,
- 8:24Speaker 2: the internet, the phone, everything, AI. You need these data centers.
- 8:28Speaker 2: The problem is the noise. You have to be cooled.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It's a massive building filled with computers and servers. And
- 8:39Speaker 2: they get so heated, you have to have these cooling things.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Cooled by these big turbines, which make not just noise,
- 8:47Speaker 2: but vibration. There's a hum. Now, imagine if you're living
- 8:53Speaker 2: next door to.
- 8:56Speaker 2: All day and night. It's going to drive you nuts.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But look where LaGuardia Airport is. It's right in a
- 9:02Speaker 2: residential neighborhood. There's houses like right outside the fence of
- 9:07Speaker 2: LaGuardia Airport. You have these planes and they make more
- 9:11Speaker 2: noise than a data center. And I imagine when it
- 9:13Speaker 2: goes right over your house, your house shakes a little.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And a lot of people live next to a train
- 9:18Speaker 2: track and all that.
- 9:19Speaker 3: So....
- 9:21Speaker 2: The thing with the data center, you're going to have
- 9:22Speaker 2: to just put them way out in the middle of nowhere. Uh,
- 9:26Speaker 2: or there's one in Virginia, they put it next to
- 9:28Speaker 2: the airport. So who can complain now? The good news
- 9:31Speaker 2: with the data center does make noise and vibration and hum, but, uh,
- 9:35Speaker 2: it's really only bad for a half a mile and
- 9:39Speaker 2: you can still faintly hear it a mile away, but
- 9:41Speaker 2: it's really only a half a mile away that it's a,
- 9:43Speaker 2: it's a problem if you're trying to live there. But, uh,
- 9:47Speaker 2: They're going to get built. And they'll figure out how
- 9:50Speaker 2: to quiet these turbines down. Elon Musk is already working
- 9:54Speaker 2: on it. So that'll make a big, big difference. Hey,
- 9:59Speaker 2: Nicolas Cage. the actor, you know, he has a beautiful
- 10:02Speaker 2: house in Malibu. It's worth about, let me see, $ 10. 5 million.
- 10:06Speaker 2: $ 10. 5 million house. Right next to his house. Right in
- 10:12Speaker 2: the whole driveway. There's a sinkhole right at his house.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I don't know how you get to his house anymore
- 10:17Speaker 2: because the ground just caved in massive sinkhole right in
- 10:22Speaker 2: front of his house. Uh, they say this, uh, to
- 10:25Speaker 2: fix it, but it's going to be a nightmare. And
- 10:27Speaker 2: that might be the end of this house. Large chunks
- 10:32Speaker 2: of concrete were visible in the whole massive hole opened
- 10:35Speaker 2: up right next to his house. It's literally right up
- 10:37Speaker 2: to his garage. The whole driveway is gone with a sinkhole.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Now they think, uh, to blame for this is that
- 10:44Speaker 2: it was a couple of days of very heavy rain
- 10:47Speaker 2: in Los Angeles with high surf. And that, uh, A
- 10:50Speaker 2: sinkhole is created when water is underneath in the ground
- 10:54Speaker 2: and it erodes all the soil and gets rid of
- 10:56Speaker 2: all the soil and dirt underneath, and then the whole
- 10:59Speaker 2: ground just caves in. So I don't know what he's
- 11:01Speaker 2: going to do. I guess you can fill in a sinkhole,
- 11:05Speaker 2: but it's going to take a while, and they think
- 11:06Speaker 2: the house will have to come down. So you remember
- 11:10Speaker 2: Joe Biden's prostate cancer, and it wasn't caught in time.
- 11:15Speaker 2: If you catch prostate cancer early, and that's why you
- 11:18Speaker 2: get a screening every year, If you catch it in time,
- 11:22Speaker 2: the survival rate is close to 100%. But they didn't
- 11:27Speaker 2: catch it in time. Apparently, he had it for years
- 11:30Speaker 2: and it spread throughout his body. It spread into his bones. Now,
- 11:35Speaker 2: how is that possible? Because if you get a physical,
- 11:40Speaker 2: that's part of the physical. It's a big part of
- 11:43Speaker 2: the physical. Prostate screenings. And they always take a blood
- 11:47Speaker 2: test and a physical, and they send your blood test out.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And that's one thing they ask for is that prostate stuff,
- 11:53Speaker 2: the PSA count and all that. It's just standard procedure. Now,
- 11:57Speaker 2: Jill Biden was asked about this in some podcast, and
- 12:01Speaker 2: she said, well, you know, once you're past 80, they
- 12:04Speaker 2: don't recommend prostate screening. Yeah, but I've asked every doctor
- 12:08Speaker 2: I could find. If the guy's 90, they always do it.
- 12:11Speaker 2: They still do it. You have to take blood and
- 12:16Speaker 2: do a blood test. When you send it to the lab,
- 12:18Speaker 2: you request the blood test you want. And you request
- 12:21Speaker 2: like 14 different things to be tested for. And it's
- 12:24Speaker 2: always there, that prostate screening test. It's always on the list.
- 12:27Speaker 2: You're always tested for it. And we're not talking about
- 12:30Speaker 2: a regular citizen. We're talking about a guy that was
- 12:32Speaker 2: president of the United States. That's the White House physical,
- 12:37Speaker 2: the presidential physical at Walter Reed. I've talked to people
- 12:41Speaker 2: who have gone through it. It is the most thorough
- 12:44Speaker 2: five-hour physical ever in history. They test you for everything
- 12:47Speaker 2: on earth. There's no way he could have missed it.
- 12:49Speaker 2: So something's wrong here. Something's wrong here with this story.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Did they tell him and he was too afraid to
- 12:55Speaker 2: do anything about it? But the cancer has spread. Joe
- 12:59Speaker 2: Biden issued a statement yesterday. The cancer has spread, metastasized
- 13:04Speaker 2: into his bones and further. He says it's very painful.
- 13:09Speaker 2: It's very debilitating in many respects. I don't know what
- 13:12Speaker 2: you do when it's that far into your body when
- 13:14Speaker 2: it's spread like that. Jill Biden is berating the White
- 13:18Speaker 2: House doctors for not catching it, but I guarantee you
- 13:21Speaker 2: they tested him for this. There's no way they didn't.
- 13:24Speaker 2: She also admitted she would hear her husband get up
- 13:28Speaker 2: frequently in the night to urinate, it says here. This
- 13:32Speaker 2: is more information than we need about Joe Biden. She
- 13:35Speaker 2: said it's a common symptom. A common symptom of prostate problems,
- 13:40Speaker 2: but she did not press him to talk to his doctors. Now,
- 13:46Speaker 2: she said men Biden's age are not usually tested for
- 13:49Speaker 2: the disease. Again, I've talked to a lot of great doctors.
- 13:52Speaker 2: They said they don't care how old you are. They
- 13:54Speaker 2: would test you for it. Now, Joe Biden constantly getting
- 13:57Speaker 2: up in the middle of the night to go to
- 13:59Speaker 2: the bathroom. First of all, do you really believe he
- 14:03Speaker 2: remembered where the bathroom is? And let's say he found it.
- 14:06Speaker 2: You really think he could find his way back to
- 14:07Speaker 2: his bedroom? You saw him when he made a speech
- 14:10Speaker 2: when he got off stage, couldn't find the door, didn't
- 14:12Speaker 2: know where to go. But it sounds pretty bad. It
- 14:15Speaker 2: sounds like he might not have that much time left
- 14:18Speaker 2: if it spread that. And he's in great pain and
- 14:22Speaker 2: suffering a lot. So anyway, the Apple event is one
- 14:25Speaker 2: o'clock today. And then tonight, about eight o'clock, this Republican
- 14:30Speaker 2: midterm convention starts. You know, the New York delegation is
- 14:33Speaker 2: down there. They were a little surprised at their seating.
- 14:36Speaker 2: The New York delegation was put all the way in
- 14:39Speaker 2: the back. That's not a good sign. Maybe the Republican
- 14:46Speaker 2: National Committee has just written off New York. Although, as
- 14:49Speaker 2: we mentioned in the first hour, Bruce Blakeman, latest poll.
- 14:53Speaker 2: This is the real polls, not these fake public polls.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The real polls, the internal polls. Bruce Blakeman now within
- 14:59Speaker 2: four points. He was 25 points behind. Then he was
- 15:02Speaker 2: 20 points behind. Then he was 10 points behind. Latest poll,
- 15:06Speaker 2: he's four points behind. And the campaign didn't really start yet.
- 15:09Speaker 2: He's been campaigning hard, but it really heats up now
- 15:14Speaker 2: after Labor Day. So it looks like Blakeman has an
- 15:16Speaker 2: excellent shot at winning. Hey, we'll take some calls next.
- 15:19Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 15:20Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
