  [SPEAKER_00]: lot of folks want to run out of town every time there's a little bit of a slip-up, Trevor Lawrence who just had his flu game over the last four weeks certainly has not been in the best position to succeed when I say four weeks I mean the last four games obviously the Jaguars did not play in Week 8 with their by week but you have a game against Seattle

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, first, let's start with the two-game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Game against Chiefs where you're down 14, nothing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you try to go up and over the ball gets knocked out, but you're able to battle, battle, battle, battle, come back when that game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Little help from Devon Lloyd, as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That was just a monumental game for Trevor in my opinion, scoring all the touchdowns he did, making all the big plays he did, the throws he made in that game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then you have Seattle where the defense is struggling modally early, and the running game is struggling modally, and the offensive line cannot protect where the lick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's still at a pretty good game in that game, ramps, same thing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Running games, not really going all that well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're shooting yourselves in the foot consistently.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you still have a pretty good game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then against the Raiders this week, have a really bad mistake early on, which Trevor Lawrence has prone to having a bad mistake or two every game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They were scoring every single drive.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna talk about kind of how I'm seeing Trevor Lawrence progressing this offense, where I'm at with Trevor right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I personally don't care much about PFF's grades, but a lot of people do and ask about grades here on the channel in the comment section on Twitter, et cetera.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence, over the last four games, which,

  [SPEAKER_00]: The jag wars from weeks five to nine have played four games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There are a number of teams who have not had a buy week who have played five games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the actual counting stats for Trevor Lawrence compared to players that have played five games is not really one to one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the grading and the percentages you can compare, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence is the 10th highest rated quarterback according to PFF over that timeframe.

  [SPEAKER_00]: when it comes to passing and when it comes to offense in general, 10 tie is created quarterback.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Is that where he wants to be?
• 3:35
  [SPEAKER_00]: No, but is that at a level where you should be trying to run him out of town?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Also, absolutely not.

  [SPEAKER_00]: When you look at his touchdowns to turnovers, he scored eight total touchdowns for rushing touchdowns and passing touchdowns in that timeframe.

  [SPEAKER_00]: based on his own errors.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like if he hit Travis ET in on the shovel pass, that's a touchdown pass, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Instead of throwing an error exception, trying to throw down me brown early in that game against the Raiders.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But you also have on the same token, the hunter-long drop that probably would have been a touchdown.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So there's both sides to that coin.

  [SPEAKER_00]: could Trevor Lawrence have done more to score more touchdowns, yes, could his receivers have done more to help him score more touchdowns also, yes.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the bottom line is eight touchdowns and four games with two interceptions, one of which should not have been in interception against the chiefs, that should have been a passenger clearance call.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, the trying to go up and over on the touch push, which Liam Cohen said you're not really supposed to do, the ball gets knocked out, you fumble it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: two turnovers that are your fault.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And sort, there's a couple other throws that could have been intercepted that were not.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But you have two turnovers that were your fault.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have eight total touchdowns, uh, you're on pace over the last four games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If you extrapolate that over a 17 game season, 17 times two, 34 touchdowns, 34 total touchdowns.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's, uh, excellent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's absolutely excellent for

  [SPEAKER_00]: 8 touchdowns in the last four weeks, only two interceptions, one of which should not have been interception.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But then you can go back to the Seattle game and say, oh, well, that past that Travis Hunter was lined up off sides, the defender should have intercepted it, Brian Thomas and your caught it, should have been a touchdown.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter wasn't off sides.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately, that was a turnover worthy play in my mind for Trevor Lawrence, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So again, there's levels to it and there's context that needs to be applied all that stuff.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But eight touchdowns to two interceptions over a four-game stretch is pretty impressive.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And to me, everybody that was trying to judge him so harshly off the first four games of the season, in which, by the way, the Jaguars were, three and one, it was a brand new system.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's still fairly new system.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence needs to continue to grow in this system.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think people, Trevor, coaches, should be like happy that he's playing at the current level he's playing at, because there is another level.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's multiple other levels to this for Trevor Lawrence.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But he is showing a lot of improvement over the last four weeks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that there's something to be said for that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You also have,

  [SPEAKER_00]: a big time throw percentage, which is just PFF's charting of throws that are going above and beyond.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he's 13th over this time frame with a 5% big time throw rate, eight big time throws in the last four games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: his turnover worthy play rate of 1.5% during this time period is also bottom 10.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So like he is doing a really good job when it comes to not putting the ball in harm's way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, situationally, obviously you can't have what happened against the Raiders early in the game, horrible decision.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Just from a percentage standpoint, if you look at the big picture over the last four weeks, he's doing a good job taking care of the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, he's 10th when it comes to turn over worthy play rate, at 1.5% so he's doing a good job there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Can it be better?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, it can be.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then you also have during that time period,

  [SPEAKER_00]: He has the second most drops in the NFL with 11.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Bonix and the Broncos have 15 drops, but they also have five games, and they also have

  [SPEAKER_00]: you know, almost 40 more pass attempts to get those 15 drops.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So they have an extra game and 40 more pass attempts.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the Jack Wars basically leading the league and drops or tied for the league lead and drops very close to it over that time frame and over the course of the entire season they do lead the league in drops.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That needs to be considered as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's averaging during that time frame, 275 total yards per game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty impressive.

  [SPEAKER_00]: 275 total yards is on pace for nearly 4,700 yards.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's running the ball well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's getting in and done with his legs, which I think is a big part of the success he's having.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But it's also just some unbelievable throws.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's also being clutch, and he didn't really have the opportunity to be clutch a whole lot against the Seahawks and the Rams.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the Jack Wars were in the game late against the Seahawks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that Trevor Lawrence played well enough in that game to win the game, but you had so many drops horrible offensive line play.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Defense could not stop Seattle until the second half.

  [SPEAKER_00]: often's really around travel limits of my opinion, let him down in that game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Seattle, but against, in the games that have been close, he has been very clutch, right, against the chiefs incredibly clutch, against the Raiders this past week, very, very clutch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, um, and I think he's had the clutch gene for a very long time,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Go back to 2022 and some of the games he was putting up against teams down the stretch was really pretty incredible in my opinion, trip down memory lane.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that was over the back half of a season where he's learning a new offense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you have an opportunity for Trevor Lawrence to have a really good back half of the 2025 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see it against the Texans this weekend.

  [SPEAKER_00]: against the Texans defense that is pretty unbelievable, even if they do have some injuries, which it looks like they might have some guys missing, remains to be seen exactly how that will play out defensively for the Texans.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We do know CJ Strauss is not playing, but you know, you look at some of those games late in the season against,

  [SPEAKER_00]: a big time opponents for Trevor Lawrence in 2022 against Dallas that game he was absolutely money.

  [SPEAKER_00]: against the Titans late in the season he was money.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens game he was awesome against Lamar Jackson.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They were dueling it out and the Jaguars came out on top.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the Chargers game in the playoffs.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Chiefs game he was really good in the divisional round of the playoffs in 2022.

  [SPEAKER_00]: In 2023 I mean he was playing excellent football until he got hurt against the

  [SPEAKER_00]: Cincinnati Bengals people forget the jaggers are eight and three he was playing great ball I mean he was gutting it out that game against New Orleans where he put the team on his back a little bit and it and kind of a dogfight type of game in New Orleans coming off of the injury against the cults that everybody thought was going to hold him out for a long period of time he comes back in place on Thursday night football that was so gutty uh

  [SPEAKER_00]: he's got quarterback and I think he's starting to really show that can he improve yes do you want him to improve yes does he really need to improve to get the jackwars to where they want to be which is you know division champions and and super bowl champions one day yeah absolutely needs to get better but I think he's showing improvement the last four weeks and he's played eight games in this new offensive system the receivers haven't been very good

  [SPEAKER_00]: his offensive line at times has been very poor at times I've been pretty good as well so I mean we just again there's levels to it it hasn't been straight up horrible for the offensive line the whole year but there's been a couple games at least where they were absolutely atrocious um there's been games where the defense can't stop the opponent which I fear might continue to happen although you know not playing against CJ Stroud this week should probably help in that regard but

  [SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence, statistically, I test wise to me the last four weeks has looked like a different quarterback than he looked like the first four weeks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You also have the fact that he's getting tons of praise from the coaching staff for his pre-snap, acumen, getting them into the right, read, getting everybody lined up properly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's not Trevor Lawrence's fault that guys are struggling with some of the motion stuff.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's just one of those things where an individual has to get his job done pre-snap a little bit better and this is a very complex offense with the pre-snap motion.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Trevor is doing a really good job for he's not getting them into the right looks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's showing his clutch gene.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's showing his give a gene with like him running the ball and doing everything he can to help the Jaguars win games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's just limit some of these absolutely absurd moments in the games and continue to work on I think you're timing an accuracy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: which hasn't been perfect by any stretch, it was really poor I think the first four weeks I think it's improved but there's still moments of inaccuracy where a ball could be placed in a better spot to give the receiver a better chance to catch the ball but overall I don't think that's like a major issue it's something we can work on to improve and to get even better than we're playing right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's playing around top 10 football at the quarterback position, which should not be the goal.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The goal should be to play better than that, because he has the physical ability to do that, but it's about growing in Liam Cohen's offense with the offensive play caller, with the pieces around him, the offensive line performing, the running game performing, the receivers not dropping the ball nearly as much, and your hopeful Jacobi Myers can help in that regard.
