- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR. Well, we'll take some calls.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Call me now. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 0:11Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hey, also, we've got Rosh Hashanah tonight. New York City
- 0:20Speaker 1: police say there'll be extra security everywhere. Kathy Hochul, you
- 0:24Speaker 1: can't always count on, said she'll make sure there's extra
- 0:28Speaker 1: security all over the New York State. Rosh Hashanah tonight,
- 0:32Speaker 1: tomorrow night as well for many. So let's take some calls.
- 0:36Speaker 1: 800-321-0710 is the number. Look at that. We've got open
- 0:40Speaker 1: lines for those of you that say, I can't get through.
- 0:43Speaker 1: They're open lines right now.
- 0:45Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how are you doing?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark. Mark, believe it or not, 25 years ago,
- 0:57Speaker 2: my girlfriend's medical receptionist, Josephine, who was a grown woman
- 1:02Speaker 2: who had grown children, her daughter worked in the World
- 1:06Speaker 2: Trade Center. And when the planes hit and everything, all
- 1:11Speaker 2: the chaos was happening, my girlfriend's receptionist was going crazy
- 1:16Speaker 2: trying to contact her daughter. And in those days, they
- 1:18Speaker 2: had those stupid flip phones, right? She couldn't make contact
- 1:23Speaker 2: with her daughter. As luck turned out, later on in
- 1:26Speaker 2: the day, she showed up at the office. Her daughter
- 1:30Speaker 2: was late because the train was late, and she didn't
- 1:34Speaker 2: get to work on time at the World Trade Center.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Talk about luck, Mark. I myself... That day, I had
- 1:41Speaker 2: to go have my car inspected. So I met an
- 1:45Speaker 2: official New York State inspection mechanic. And he has my car.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I had this muscle car, Dodge Charger. He has it
- 1:53Speaker 2: on the machine, right? And he's running the test. All
- 1:57Speaker 2: of a sudden, the machine stops. He said, Vin, the
- 2:00Speaker 2: screen went blank. He said, it must be a system failure.
- 2:04Speaker 2: He says, come back in a little while. I go home,
- 2:07Speaker 2: my girlfriend calls me and tells me to put on
- 2:09Speaker 2: the TV, and I watch the tower come down. So
- 2:15Speaker 2: I said to myself, let me go pick up my
- 2:17Speaker 2: car no matter what. I'll get the inspection later. I
- 2:20Speaker 2: go up there, and on 4th Avenue and 3rd Street
- 2:23Speaker 2: from Brooklyn, all you could see are hordes of people
- 2:27Speaker 2: that walked down. Over the bridge before they closed everything down,
- 2:33Speaker 2: all filthy with dust.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. I forgot about that. Many people had
- 2:36Speaker 1: to walk home over the bridge.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Mark, even in my yard, I was getting dust. I
- 2:41Speaker 2: ran throughout all my properties, closing the windows and everything
- 2:45Speaker 2: because some people who worked, some mothers were home with
- 2:48Speaker 2: their kids. I called up everybody and went into apartments.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I said, close the windows. You want to hear a
- 2:54Speaker 2: 9-11 gangster story from Italy?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Okay, real fast.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:00Speaker 2: My friends called me up and said across the street
- 3:03Speaker 2: from where they live and their kids and their family,
- 3:06Speaker 2: this Arabic bar was celebrating giving candy out as they
- 3:10Speaker 2: do when they kill people.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Right?
- 3:13Speaker 2: My friends, they got pissed off. And so they went
- 3:16Speaker 2: over there. They threw a garbage pail through the window
- 3:19Speaker 2: of the bar. Then when the guys came out, my friends,
- 3:24Speaker 2: they had baseball bats.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Let's not hear the rest of the story. But in
- 3:27Speaker 1: other words, it was like... Chaz Parliamentary saying, now you
- 3:31Speaker 1: just can't leave. We got the picture.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And Mark, when the cops came, my friend spoke to
- 3:37Speaker 2: them in Italian. They walked the other way. The cops
- 3:40Speaker 2: didn't even do anything.
- 3:41Speaker 1: All right, Vincent. Thanks for calling. Great call. Let's go
- 3:45Speaker 1: to Alex in Wayne, New Jersey. Alex, how you doing?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Hey, how you doing, Mark?
- 3:51Speaker 4: Can you hear me?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 5: How you doing? Yeah, I just wanted to tell you
- 3:55Speaker 5: a little bit about my experience during... when I was
- 3:59Speaker 5: working in Macy's Hells East on that day. And basically,
- 4:04Speaker 5: what happened was during afternoon, the way to get out
- 4:08Speaker 5: of the city that day, of course, Lincoln Tunnel and
- 4:12Speaker 5: GW and the Port Authority was closed, so you couldn't
- 4:17Speaker 5: get out. So we all start going up to West
- 4:20Speaker 5: Side Highway there to try to catch the ferry to
- 4:23Speaker 5: go to New Jersey. And that's when you discovered... a
- 4:26Speaker 5: two mile long line. And, uh, I don't know what
- 4:29Speaker 5: happened to those people. So, you know, basically we, we
- 4:31Speaker 5: just went back to the Macy's and I was lucky
- 4:34Speaker 5: enough to, to catch a ride with somebody to Hanupano
- 4:36Speaker 5: over there. And that was the only way really to
- 4:39Speaker 5: get to New Jersey. And we, you know, we got
- 4:41Speaker 5: there to Jersey city and it was pretty crazy. It
- 4:45Speaker 5: was like a scene out of a movie, like, uh,
- 4:48Speaker 5: you know, end of the world. Cause people just dropped
- 4:50Speaker 5: everything even down in that area. And they just start,
- 4:54Speaker 5: walking towards the ferry. You know what I'm saying?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, Alex. Thanks for calling. Yeah, I forgot
- 4:59Speaker 1: about that. A lot of people couldn't get out. They closed.
- 5:02Speaker 1: There were tons of people that walked across the bridges
- 5:05Speaker 1: to get out of New York City. Let's go to
- 5:09Speaker 1: Larry in Long Island. Larry, how you doing?
- 5:12Speaker 6: Hi, Mark.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Oh, it's the Buchanan guy. The Buchanan guy. He hung up.
- 5:21Speaker 1: You know, if you want to be a good prank caller,
- 5:25Speaker 1: You've got to lose the accent. You can tell right away.
- 5:27Speaker 1: You've got that accent. Oh, hi, Mark. This Buchanan guy's
- 5:32Speaker 1: been at it for... Hey, actually, it's the 25th anniversary
- 5:37Speaker 1: of 9-11. I remember him calling before 9-11. It's also
- 5:41Speaker 1: the 25th anniversary of him with the most outdated prank
- 5:44Speaker 1: call in the world. Anyway, give us a call. 800-321-0710
- 5:47Speaker 1: is the number.
- 5:47Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 5:54Speaker 1: 0-7-10. Yeah, it was an incredible experience that day. If
- 5:59Speaker 1: you were in Manhattan and you didn't live in Manhattan,
- 6:01Speaker 1: trying to get home was a nightmare. And then a
- 6:05Speaker 1: lot of people couldn't get into Manhattan. They closed everything.
- 6:08Speaker 1: If you came down the West Side Highway, at that
- 6:11Speaker 1: time they had toll booths. They wouldn't let anybody in.
- 6:15Speaker 1: The bridges, the tunnels, everything closed up. Anyway, let's take
- 6:18Speaker 1: some calls. Let's go to Line 1. How you doing?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Line 1, who is this?
- 6:24Speaker 3: My name is Tom.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Tom?
- 6:26Speaker 3: From New Jersey.
- 6:26Speaker 1: How are you doing? What did you want to say, Tom?
- 6:29Speaker 3: Mark, Osama bin Laden. It was credited that a Pakistani
- 6:33Speaker 3: doctor led to his capture, and they said that he
- 6:36Speaker 3: was entitled to a very, very high ransom payment. As
- 6:42Speaker 3: far as I know, he was put in prison by
- 6:45Speaker 3: the Pakistanis, and I can't find out if he's still
- 6:47Speaker 3: in prison, if he got the money.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. We don't really know if it
- 6:51Speaker 1: was that Pakistani doctor. Yeah. He was in Pakistan. They
- 6:57Speaker 1: found him living in that house. One of the things
- 6:58Speaker 1: they learned in the hunt for Saddam Hussein, you know,
- 7:02Speaker 1: they were filing his top lieutenants. And then they realized,
- 7:06Speaker 1: follow the little guys, the couriers. Follow the couriers. And
- 7:09Speaker 1: that's how they eventually figured out where Saddam Hussein was.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And I believe the same thing happened with Osama bin Laden.
- 7:16Speaker 1: They started following couriers and those people. Let's go to
- 7:19Speaker 1: Al in Yonkers. Al, how are you doing?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Good, Mark.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I hope you're doing well on this terrible day of remembrance.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I just wanted to ask you, the President gave a
- 7:29Speaker 4: good midterm convention speech, as did the Vice President, but
- 7:35Speaker 4: I just don't understand when he says about the $ 5, 000
- 7:39Speaker 4: he'll give to all the citizens of this country if
- 7:43Speaker 4: they win the midterms. Maybe this should have been done already,
- 7:48Speaker 4: because We have the House and the Senate in both Republicans.
- 7:53Speaker 1: You're never going to see the $ 5, 000. I think he
- 7:55Speaker 1: was just shooting his mouth off. He loves to come
- 7:57Speaker 1: up with gimmicks. And it's a great way to troll
- 7:59Speaker 1: the fake news and the Democrats. Remember, the Democrats are
- 8:01Speaker 1: always giving away stuff. With Obama, it was free phones.
- 8:07Speaker 1: With Biden, it was I'll forgive your student loans. And
- 8:11Speaker 1: in this case, it was just I'll give you a
- 8:12Speaker 1: check for $ 5, 000. It's the kind of thing Democrats would do.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Now watch. As much as they attack him for it,
- 8:18Speaker 1: now they'll offer $ 10, 000. Let's go to Robert in Westchester. Robert,
- 8:21Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 8:23Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yes, Robert.
- 8:24Speaker 6: Thank you for taking my call. Mark, with Mondani first,
- 8:30Speaker 6: with him coming to the services today, he didn't do
- 8:33Speaker 6: it because out of respect.
- 8:35Speaker 1: No, probably not. But he behaved himself there. He handled
- 8:38Speaker 1: himself pretty well there. And you'll see the picture. It's
- 8:42Speaker 1: going viral. He did shake hands with Rudy Giuliani, knowing
- 8:46Speaker 1: photographers were going to photograph that. Yeah. Hey, when we
- 8:49Speaker 1: come back, Charles Payne, I don't know where he was
- 8:52Speaker 1: on 9-11. Well, we'll ask him. He'll be the great
- 8:56Speaker 1: Charles Payne, the brilliant guy from Fox Business. He's got
- 8:59Speaker 1: a new book out. But people have made a fortune
- 9:02Speaker 1: watching Charles Payne. Anyway, we'll talk to him next on 710WOR.
