- 0:00Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. 506 News Radio 570 WKBN on Monday, 90 degrees.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Back here to the boss, ladies. So you're saying that
- 0:10Speaker 1: you're opposed to..
- 0:11Speaker 2: No jobs.
- 0:12Speaker 3: The public is asked to provide land. We've got to
- 0:14Speaker 3: provide all the infrastructure.
- 0:16Speaker 2: They're tearing up the roads. They're tearing up the land.
- 0:19Speaker 2: They get huge, massive tax incentives.
- 0:21Speaker 3: They're going to utilize our utilities and put.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Strain on them.
- 0:28Speaker 3: And what benefit are we really getting?
- 0:31Speaker 2: And if we think.
- 0:32Speaker 3: That we're getting, oh, well, they're going to be valued
- 0:36Speaker 3: so high it's going to take strain off of the
- 0:38Speaker 3: property tax person, that's not true because Ohio uses these
- 0:42Speaker 3: things called TIFs. And as I was looking about this issue,
- 0:45Speaker 3: I actually called last week.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I called one day. I couldn't get on. It was busy,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and I just hung up. But they use something called
- 0:52Speaker 2: a TIF.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And the more research I did on that is tax
- 0:58Speaker 3: increment financing. So what happens is, let's say that that
- 1:02Speaker 3: farmland pays $ 10, 000 a.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Year in property taxes.
- 1:05Speaker 3: And then you get a data center, it gets built,
- 1:08Speaker 3: and then it's valued at $ 2 million a year. But
- 1:11Speaker 3: the original $ 10, 000 keeps going normally.
- 1:13Speaker 2: That extra $ 1.
- 1:14Speaker 3: 99 million or whatever it is, That can be captured
- 1:19Speaker 3: by what they call a TIF. And that money gets
- 1:22Speaker 3: redirected to just help the roads that they tore up,
- 1:25Speaker 3: the electrical substations, any water lines or anything that got messed.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Up during the project.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Those TIFs, as they call them, are 10 to 30 years.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And Ohio loves those.
- 1:38Speaker 3: So which means no benefit for 30 years to the community.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And no jobs.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So I don't know why everybody's getting so excited about them.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And I'm not an end user.
- 1:48Speaker 3: And maybe one day, 30 years, maybe I'll be dead
- 1:51Speaker 3: by the time I'm an end user. But right now, Microsoft, Google,
- 1:53Speaker 3: those are who benefit from these things. We are not
- 1:56Speaker 3: going to benefit from these things. Bring me something with
- 1:59Speaker 3: a lot of jobs.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And we're giving away farmland.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know.
- 2:05Speaker 2: To me, it's not what it's all hopped up to be.
- 2:08Speaker 3: And when I saw Plushnik today, I'll forward you.
- 2:12Speaker 2: But he didn't have very nice things to say about
- 2:14Speaker 2: it either.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Okay, so let me ask this. First of all, I
- 2:21Speaker 1: acknowledge the following, and I find it disturbing that it
- 2:25Speaker 1: seems the federal government wants to take total control over
- 2:31Speaker 1: the local government and local zoning when it comes to
- 2:34Speaker 1: data centers. Have you been following this? I mean, it
- 2:38Speaker 1: really disturbs me that they would have complete control over
- 2:42Speaker 1: the local community when it comes to data centers. I'm
- 2:45Speaker 1: opposed to that. When I said to you why I
- 2:48Speaker 1: support data centers and why I would want them here,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I know that they don't create a bunch of jobs,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but just bear with me for a minute. I don't
- 2:55Speaker 1: go along with DeWine. DeWine, a Republican that says give
- 2:59Speaker 1: data centers a break on the sales tax for all
- 3:02Speaker 1: the materials that they buy to build them. When I
- 3:06Speaker 1: heard that, I thought there's no reason to do that.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Once again, if I add on to my garage, I've
- 3:11Speaker 1: got to pay sales tax on materials, but a data
- 3:13Speaker 1: center shouldn't for all the material that they want to
- 3:16Speaker 1: purchase doesn't make any sense to me. When I said
- 3:18Speaker 1: to you or to everybody about my support of data centers,
- 3:21Speaker 1: I always start with zero tax breaks at all for
- 3:27Speaker 1: a data center.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Oh, that ain't happening. It ain't going to happen.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It won't happen.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Why not?
- 3:31Speaker 1: Why not?
- 3:32Speaker 2: They won't come here. They'll go somewhere else. They'll go
- 3:34Speaker 2: to some other stupid state that's going to do that
- 3:36Speaker 2: for them.
- 3:37Speaker 3: But it shouldn't be here in Ohio.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Well, in Ohio, I go back to say this. So
- 3:42Speaker 1: tell me where I'm wrong in this. Ohio is a
- 3:45Speaker 1: great spot to locate. Everything I've read because of our
- 3:48Speaker 1: weather is perfect for data centers. It's not too hot
- 3:52Speaker 1: like Arizona and Florida and that kind of stuff. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: you need specific locations because of the transmission lines that
- 3:59Speaker 1: are necessary for them. So it's not like you can
- 4:02Speaker 1: go anywhere. You need the infrastructure. You need the weather.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We don't have to do anything for these people. You
- 4:08Speaker 1: want to build a data center here? Here it is.
- 4:12Speaker 1: We'll sell you all the materials that employ our construction
- 4:15Speaker 1: people while it's being built. And you will have maintenance
- 4:20Speaker 1: on it, a lot of air conditioning and what have you.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So it will have outside jobs for a lot of
- 4:26Speaker 1: people to maintain the facility. And granted, there won't be
- 4:29Speaker 1: a lot of workers at the facility because it's technology.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You don't need a lot of workers. You don't need workers.
- 4:34Speaker 1: a lot of workers there. But if you would go
- 4:37Speaker 1: along with what I've said, you would have tax dollars
- 4:41Speaker 1: coming in without a lot of wear and tear on
- 4:44Speaker 1: your roads and what have you, and those tax dollars
- 4:46Speaker 1: would offset your property taxes because a fixed levy cost
- 4:51Speaker 1: would be shifted to that huge facility in the community.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Except it won't be, is what I'm trying to say.
- 4:56Speaker 3: In other arrangements, from what I've read, that doesn't happen.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So if that's going to happen, now all of a
- 5:02Speaker 3: sudden Ohio changes its stance, then maybe I would agree.
- 5:06Speaker 3: But that's not what Ohio has been doing.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Well, that's the only way I would agree to a
- 5:12Speaker 1: data center.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and I can understand your point from that perspective.
- 5:17Speaker 2: But let me..
- 5:18Speaker 1: But I do say this. They're coming, and if let's
- 5:22Speaker 1: say they'll locate somewhere else..
- 5:25Speaker 2: Nebraska sounds good to me. No, no, no.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Statewide region, which is part of your electrical grid. So
- 5:35Speaker 1: you get the expenses of it without any of the
- 5:38Speaker 1: benefits of it from your construction people.
- 5:40Speaker 2: That's a very good point. That is a good point.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That is a valid point.
- 5:44Speaker 1: All right. So you're getting that. My concern is, once again,
- 5:49Speaker 1: they have to provide their own power source. They can't
- 5:52Speaker 1: keep stressing our grid and for sucking up all of
- 5:59Speaker 1: this power. I mean, I am deeply troubled that the
- 6:02Speaker 1: federal government thinks they should have the say-so over any
- 6:04Speaker 1: local government. I'm dead set against any state saying there
- 6:09Speaker 1: would be tax abatements or any of this stuff. I'm
- 6:12Speaker 1: just against all of it. I do think, though, AI,
- 6:16Speaker 1: when people do Google searches and what have you, they
- 6:20Speaker 1: will start using it. It's the coming frontier. Even for you,
- 6:24Speaker 1: it's the coming frontier.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Well, that's what Plushnick's problem with it is, is that
- 6:30Speaker 3: he opposes anybody who's going to try to take away
- 6:37Speaker 3: the state or local city control.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 2: That's his main issue.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 3: And they've got all these NDAs that are backdoor. I mean,
- 6:51Speaker 3: you know, I've listened to some of those reels that
- 6:54Speaker 3: the people are doing, and it just.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Doesn't sound, I don't know.
- 6:58Speaker 3: But I have something very troubling that came to me
- 7:02Speaker 3: over the weekend.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It's off the data.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It's off the data center.
- 7:06Speaker 1: All right, but before you get to that. I want
- 7:09Speaker 1: to find a community. I was reading this article, and
- 7:14Speaker 1: I can't remember where it was, where the data center,
- 7:18Speaker 1: the power company has said to this community, we won't
- 7:22Speaker 1: be able to provide you with any power in a
- 7:24Speaker 1: year and a half to the community, the residents, because
- 7:28Speaker 1: it's all going to go to this data center. And basically,
- 7:32Speaker 1: you're not going to have any power. Exactly. Sounds like
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm making it up, right? But it was an actual
- 7:39Speaker 1: news story that said they have notified you have a
- 7:42Speaker 1: year and a half to figure out what you're going
- 7:44Speaker 1: to have to do because the system will just be
- 7:48Speaker 1: there to provide for these data centers. There's a ton
- 7:51Speaker 1: of them, incidentally, down by Columbus already, as you well know,
- 7:54Speaker 1: in Columbus. A lot of them in Virginia because of
- 7:57Speaker 1: the federal government's. So they're popping up all over. So
- 8:01Speaker 1: I'm going to try to find out where that place
- 8:03Speaker 1: was that I was reading.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's troubling.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 2: That's troubling.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Now, what else bothers you since it's been a while
- 8:09Speaker 1: since I've heard from you?
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I walked into some very disturbing news to me,
- 8:15Speaker 3: and I can't tell you where, but I was in
- 8:17Speaker 3: Mahoning County. Well, I'll tell.
- 8:19Speaker 5: You, I was in Boardman.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I was talking to some folks, and they said..
- 8:24Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, you know, that lady that lives right.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Over there in a $ 300, 000 condo.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Oh, she just had a cleaning lady come, and they
- 8:34Speaker 3: cleaned her house for her.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I said, who's that lady?
- 8:37Speaker 3: I'm looking at her $ 300, 000 condo, which is far higher
- 8:42Speaker 3: than the average home in the Honing County.
- 8:44Speaker 1: All right, so you've got a $ 300, 000 condo and a
- 8:47Speaker 1: cleaning lady. Okay, so what?
- 8:49Speaker 3: Well, that's where your senior levy money went. They sent
- 8:53Speaker 3: somebody to clean her home for her.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Now, that's wonderful.
- 8:57Speaker 3: You can't hate the player.
- 8:58Speaker 2: You got to hate the game. Because if I was her.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I would have taken that benefit too for free. But
- 9:04Speaker 3: the day that we start paying, and I said this
- 9:07Speaker 3: to you weeks ago, and I think Alec, you know,
- 9:10Speaker 3: he's very smart.
- 9:12Speaker 2: He's echoing a lot of the things.
- 9:13Speaker 3: That I'm saying. We are becoming socialist and people need
- 9:18Speaker 3: to heed the warning. The day that my home is
- 9:22Speaker 3: levied to provide a woman sitting in a $ 300, 000 home
- 9:27Speaker 3: who walks with two feet, who's not in a wheelchair,
- 9:30Speaker 3: that I got to pay for her house, I'm a
- 9:34Speaker 3: little hopped up, Ron.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I'm a little popped up. Now, where did I see that?
- 9:39Speaker 1: I happened to read that.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I posted it all day today, so I don't know
- 9:43Speaker 3: if you saw it if you were on Facebook. I
- 9:45Speaker 3: did a reel on it on TikTok as well.
- 9:47Speaker 1: All right.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I am so inspired.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Now, pause for a second. All right, pause for a second,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and then I'll let you get back to that, all right?
- 9:53Speaker 1: I found what I was looking for. AI overview, incidentally.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Listen to this. The Aryan question... is Lake Tahoe region,
- 10:02Speaker 1: spanning the California-Nevada border. The local power supplier, Envy Energy,
- 10:08Speaker 1: notified the region that it will stop supplying power in
- 10:11Speaker 1: order to divert electricity to massive new AI and tech
- 10:15Speaker 1: data centers being built east of Reno. This decision impacts
- 10:20Speaker 1: nearly 60,000 residents and businesses worldwide. who have been left
- 10:24Speaker 1: scrabbling to find a new electrical provider before the impending cutoff.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Wait a second.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Don't you think we're moving a little too fast, Ben?
- 10:34Speaker 3: Moving a little too fast. We're creating more problems than
- 10:38Speaker 3: we're solving right now.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Well, I mean, can you imagine that? Can you imagine?
- 10:44Speaker 2: No! Because it's not in California.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Can you imagine if you live in this Lake Tahoe
- 10:48Speaker 1: region and you're notified that, hey, we're not going to,
- 10:52Speaker 1: your energy supplier, the local power supplier, says we're not
- 10:55Speaker 1: going to supply any electricity to the 50,000 residents and businesses.
- 11:01Speaker 1: All of our power is going to the data centers.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So basically, you've got to figure it out. You've got
- 11:06Speaker 1: a year and a half left. to figure this out.
- 11:09Speaker 1: When I heard this story, I thought, are you kidding me?
- 11:12Speaker 1: And I'm just looking for more stuff about it. It's
- 11:18Speaker 1: hard to imagine, isn't it, that that's the case?
- 11:21Speaker 3: It's absolutely hard to imagine, but that's why I'm saying
- 11:24Speaker 3: we're moving too fast.
- 11:26Speaker 2: We're moving too fast.
- 11:27Speaker 3: If our electrical system can't handle this, then we're moving
- 11:31Speaker 3: too fast and people need to simmer down.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Calm down.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Making rush decisions too fast. Now, that community, ultimately, I
- 11:40Speaker 3: think it's going to be interesting to see what do
- 11:41Speaker 3: they do.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Northern Nevada has become one of the fastest-growing data center
- 11:45Speaker 1: corridors in the country. Google, Apple, and Microsoft have either
- 11:50Speaker 1: built or are planning facilities around the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center
- 11:54Speaker 1: east of Reno. The Desert Research Institute, using data from
- 11:59Speaker 1: NV Energy 2024, Integrated Resource Plan found that the 12
- 12:04Speaker 1: data center projects located overwhelmingly in northern Nevada could drive
- 12:09Speaker 1: 5,900 megawatts of new demand by 2033. At a regional
- 12:15Speaker 1: business event last fall, NV Energy's Director of Business Development
- 12:19Speaker 1: called the moment unprecedented, saying the company was eager to
- 12:22Speaker 1: serve the new industrial load, but that it would not
- 12:25Speaker 1: impact our existing customer base. But Liberty's 49,000 California customers
- 12:31Speaker 1: may already be hearing bearing the cost. Liberty Utility generates
- 12:35Speaker 1: about 25% of its power from solar facilities it owns
- 12:39Speaker 1: in Nevada. The other 75% comes from NV Energy. And
- 12:44Speaker 1: that source will no longer be supplied to the region
- 12:47Speaker 1: by this time next year. It's like we don't exist,
- 12:51Speaker 1: Daniels says. Told Fortune, Hughes is a North Lake Tahoe
- 12:56Speaker 1: resident CEO of the nonprofit Tahoe Spark and supervisor within
- 13:02Speaker 1: the California Energy Commission. So can you imagine being told this? Hey,
- 13:07Speaker 1: from your electrical supplier?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Now somebody's got to come up with a solution. What
- 13:09Speaker 2: are they going to do? Yes.
- 13:14Speaker 1: The CPUC approves Liberty's rates and procurement requests, but it
- 13:18Speaker 1: cannot order NV Energy to keep selling wholesale power or
- 13:22Speaker 1: dictate how Nevada plans for data centers. That falls to
- 13:26Speaker 1: the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. It's unbelievable when you read this. So,
- 13:31Speaker 1: I mean, when you when you read this. At first
- 13:34Speaker 1: I thought, am I hearing this right? You're telling me that.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Well, think about it.
- 13:38Speaker 3: They just put regulators on all of our homes, didn't they?
- 13:42Speaker 3: I mean, most of our homes now have these boxes
- 13:44Speaker 3: on the outside.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're telling me, you're telling these people, 60,000
- 13:50Speaker 1: people in a year and a half, you better figure
- 13:52Speaker 1: out what to do because all the power is going
- 13:54Speaker 1: to go to these data centers. It's unbelievable.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a problem. We're moving too fast. They need
- 14:01Speaker 2: to slow down. All right.
- 14:02Speaker 1: So now, and it's spiking the demand for electricity, and
- 14:06Speaker 1: the rates are going up for all of us at
- 14:09Speaker 1: our homes and everything. So it's going to be so
- 14:11Speaker 1: you can't afford to have your air conditioning on. Now,
- 14:13Speaker 1: you're talking about this senior levy that's providing cleaning services
- 14:19Speaker 1: for old people in... $ 300, 000 condo. Because how do you,
- 14:24Speaker 1: how do.
- 14:24Speaker 3: You pay for some $ 300, 000 ladies cleaning service?
- 14:28Speaker 1: Well, what I say is an income based at all,
- 14:30Speaker 1: or is it just, well, no, that's the.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Problem with the stupid levy.
- 14:34Speaker 3: The stupid levy actually is the opposite. It's actually people
- 14:39Speaker 3: who do not fall into the other social welfare programs.
- 14:44Speaker 3: So you make too much money to qualify for the
- 14:47Speaker 3: other state, um, supplements, you make too much money to
- 14:51Speaker 3: qualify for other programs. So you have to make too
- 14:54Speaker 3: much money.
- 14:55Speaker 2: To qualify for this.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Now, tell that to the man who busted his butt
- 15:02Speaker 3: for 30 years and decided not to buy the $ 300, 000 condo,
- 15:07Speaker 3: decided I'm going to stay in my $ 100, 000 home and
- 15:10Speaker 3: I'm going to pay my own cleaning lady.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Sit tight. Hang in there. The Boss Lady, NewsRadio 570 WKBN,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and Ron Furp back in a minute. Youngstown's news, weather,
- 15:21Speaker 1: and talk station, 570 WKBN. 525 NewsRadio 570 WKBN. I mean,
- 15:28Speaker 1: I was, when they were proposing the senior levy when
- 15:31Speaker 1: it first came on the ballot. Yeah, I was opposed
- 15:35Speaker 1: to it. I was on the air totally and completely
- 15:37Speaker 1: opposed to it. And I didn't I didn't support it
- 15:42Speaker 1: at all because it's it's we're turning in a socialist here.
- 15:45Speaker 1: But the community, for whatever God-known reason, voted for it.
- 15:51Speaker 1: It's a property tax. They voted for this senior levy.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And then once they got all this money, they start
- 15:56Speaker 1: all these handout programs that are going on for senior citizens. Like, apparently,
- 16:02Speaker 1: you're no longer responsible for yourself anymore. personal responsibility is
- 16:06Speaker 1: by the wayside you know if you didn't save any
- 16:08Speaker 1: money or or whatever because you're old well we'll come
- 16:12Speaker 1: cut your grass for free because you're old we'll come
- 16:15Speaker 1: clean your house for free this is insanity the man
- 16:18Speaker 1: who lives.
- 16:19Speaker 3: In a hundred thousand dollar home that decided not to
- 16:21Speaker 3: upgrade he's now paying for the woman who lives in
- 16:24Speaker 3: the three hundred thousand dollar home It's so dumb and twisted.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It's unbelievable.
- 16:31Speaker 3: It's uneducated voters who don't understand. And it's these commissioners who,
- 16:38Speaker 3: they come to it and say, hey, we want to
- 16:39Speaker 3: put on a senior levy. They're already getting money funded
- 16:43Speaker 3: from the state. And the commissioners, oh, that sounds like
- 16:45Speaker 3: a great idea. Let's put it on the ballot. And
- 16:48Speaker 3: then nobody oversees the program and how the money is
- 16:53Speaker 3: being spent. If I was a commissioner, I would say,
- 16:57Speaker 3: what do you plan to do with this money, sir?
- 16:59Speaker 3: You want millions of dollars from the taxpayer. You want
- 17:02Speaker 3: to levy their homes.
- 17:04Speaker 2: What are you going to do with the money?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Why is it my responsibility?
- 17:10Speaker 2: I'm going to end up at a commissioner's meeting.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Really?
- 17:12Speaker 2: I'm going to end up on the news.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Oh, I'm going to go to a commissioner's meeting. I'm
- 17:16Speaker 3: getting so sickened. I want oversight of these nonprofits.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I want somebody.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Pick a different one because they don't have to.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Listen, you're better off talking about it here because you
- 17:30Speaker 1: might as well go down. You think Carol Rigetti's going
- 17:33Speaker 1: to listen and actually give a damn? No, I don't care.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I'm going to make her look like a fool. And
- 17:36Speaker 3: I'm going to tell Stan Boney you might want to
- 17:38Speaker 3: come to the meeting because I'm going to light him
- 17:40Speaker 3: up today.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I'll be there.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Come down. It's going to be on Channel 21.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Because they need to start over.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Where's the oversight?
- 17:49Speaker 3: And then you get the forever levies, which the senior levy, thankfully,
- 17:53Speaker 3: is not a forever tax.
- 17:55Speaker 2: And the voters, they don't.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Understand what's happening. They think, oh, the seniors, we got
- 18:01Speaker 3: to support the seniors. You know, and here's the funny thing.
- 18:04Speaker 3: That lady in that $ 300, 000 condo, okay? She paid for
- 18:09Speaker 3: that service anyways out of her property tax. And you
- 18:11Speaker 3: have to be current on your property taxes to receive it.
- 18:14Speaker 2: So you don't have to be destitute. You don't have
- 18:15Speaker 2: to be poor.
- 18:16Speaker 3: You can't qualify for other programs, which means you're doing
- 18:20Speaker 3: okay in terms of the state. And you get these benefits.
- 18:23Speaker 3: And you're levying people's homes.
- 18:25Speaker 2: It's sickening.
- 18:27Speaker 3: And they're making up these rules. And the rules are very, like, arbitrary. Like,
- 18:32Speaker 3: where's the income? Is there an income cap?
- 18:36Speaker 1: It doesn't matter when it should not be the responsibility
- 18:41Speaker 1: of the property tax owner to pay to have anybody
- 18:43Speaker 1: clean your house, period. Pick up after yourself. I mean,
- 18:48Speaker 1: this is ridiculous. It's why your property taxes. So I
- 18:53Speaker 1: go back to say it again. It is a property
- 18:55Speaker 1: tax levy that you pay for the library system around here.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'll say it for the hundredth time, maybe the thousandth time.
- 19:02Speaker 1: The biggest problem your public library has in this community
- 19:05Speaker 1: is they have so much money coming in. Spending it
- 19:07Speaker 1: every year is their biggest concern. How do we spend
- 19:10Speaker 1: all of this? So they'd be more than happy to
- 19:12Speaker 1: build a new library in Poland or build a new
- 19:14Speaker 1: one in Struthers because they've got to figure out how
- 19:17Speaker 1: do we spend all of this money that's coming in
- 19:19Speaker 1: every year with the property taxes. All of you people
- 19:22Speaker 1: that say, I love my library, have been duped over
- 19:25Speaker 1: what you're paying for. Stand by. Just hang in there.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I'll be right back. News Radio 570 WKVN. All right,
- 19:34Speaker 1: Ron Verbe, back to it. Now, Ron Verbe. Yes. On
- 19:38Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. From the kingdom of Mahoning, I am,
- 19:43Speaker 1: I am at 534 News Radio 570 WKBN. So I
- 19:48Speaker 1: go back to say all that kind of stuff. Oh,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I love my library and all that kind of stuff. Well,
- 19:52Speaker 1: you don't know how the money's being spent. They got
- 19:54Speaker 1: all this money in reserve. This idea that all these
- 19:58Speaker 1: entities got to have bank accounts of your tax dollars
- 20:01Speaker 1: making interest off of it is insanity. That means they're
- 20:04Speaker 1: taking too much of your money in the first place,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and they have all this money in a bank account
- 20:10Speaker 1: earning interest. that you don't have because they're taking so much.
- 20:14Speaker 1: There is zero monitoring of that. So everybody like, I
- 20:17Speaker 1: go to the library, I love the library or whatever,
- 20:19Speaker 1: have no clue.
- 20:20Speaker 2: No one knows.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Absolutely no.
- 20:22Speaker 3: How many people are going.
- 20:22Speaker 1: To come in? No one knows. And like I've said
- 20:25Speaker 1: a million times, I say this to all of you
- 20:27Speaker 1: time and time again, WRTA, you voted for a quarter
- 20:31Speaker 1: percent forever sales tax for WRTA. It generates $ 10 million
- 20:36Speaker 1: a year every year for WRTA. Their biggest problem with
- 20:42Speaker 1: WRTA is how do we spend all this? Well, we'll
- 20:45Speaker 1: build another garage. We'll buy some of these electric buses
- 20:48Speaker 1: that are all expensive. They've got to figure out every
- 20:51Speaker 1: year how to get rid of $ 10 million. This is
- 20:54Speaker 1: one of the biggest problems they have is how do
- 20:56Speaker 1: we spend all of this money? And I'll sit here
- 20:59Speaker 1: until I'm blue in the face and tell you that's
- 21:00Speaker 1: it with the sales tax of WRTA. And I'll tell
- 21:03Speaker 1: you that the library has the same damn problem. This
- 21:06Speaker 1: is all going on. When you have to bite the
- 21:10Speaker 1: bullet and make sacrifices with these high property taxes that
- 21:13Speaker 1: you're paying and the lack of affordability for young people
- 21:18Speaker 1: to be able to afford a house or old people
- 21:20Speaker 1: to stay in a house because the insanity– with these
- 21:23Speaker 1: property taxes, and the senior levy is a shining example
- 21:28Speaker 1: of another socialistic handout program that has to come up
- 21:32Speaker 1: with ways to get rid of this money for senior citizens.
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's not my responsibility as a taxpayer to clean your
- 21:40Speaker 1: damn house or any of this other nonsense. No. Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Or any of it.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Right. And when Gino called that one day when I
- 21:49Speaker 1: was talking about property taxes, what did he say? Well,
- 21:51Speaker 1: we've got to take care of our seniors. No, that isn't. Oh, no.
- 21:55Speaker 1: You have a personal responsibility. Everybody's problems aren't my problems.
- 22:00Speaker 1: They're not. Nor should they be the taxpayer problem.
- 22:02Speaker 3: And it's getting worse and worse by the minute. I
- 22:05Speaker 3: heard some... Alex said something else the other day, not
- 22:08Speaker 3: property tax related, but I.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Was listening while I was working, and I was like,
- 22:12Speaker 2: you know what?
- 22:12Speaker 5: That's pretty... spot on.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Because what did I say? Our problem is the middle class.
- 22:18Speaker 2: And our problem is the state of Ohio.
- 22:20Speaker 3: You either work for the state or you're receiving state benefits.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Because I think it's 50% of the state's budget is Medicaid.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Okay?
- 22:29Speaker 3: So you're not going to vote. That's why in Mahoning County,
- 22:33Speaker 3: in our area, which is a poorer area, continues to
- 22:38Speaker 3: pass these levies.
- 22:38Speaker 2: But you see across the state, they're not doing that.
- 22:41Speaker 3: But what he said was brilliant when he said that
- 22:44Speaker 3: if all the fraud was caught, right, and you can
- 22:46Speaker 3: take this to, if we stopped expanding all this government,
- 22:50Speaker 3: because that's all we do is expand government and social welfare.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Programs, our economy would collapse. Because they would have no jobs.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Because for all the fraud, you still have to add
- 23:01Speaker 3: a job. So for every $ 1, 000.
- 23:04Speaker 2: You know, they manage by.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Head count, by revenue count.
- 23:07Speaker 2: That's how you add jobs, right?
- 23:10Speaker 3: You have run at a ratio. One manager to every
- 23:13Speaker 3: five supervisors. One supervisor to every hundred employees. That's exactly
- 23:17Speaker 3: how they do it in the state.
- 23:18Speaker 2: If you eliminate all.
- 23:20Speaker 3: The fraud, all the spending, all the crap, and... Our economy,
- 23:25Speaker 3: we have built a system that relies upon the system.
- 23:29Speaker 3: And it's not getting better.
- 23:30Speaker 5: It's getting worse.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I want somebody to do.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Something about it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Right, right. All right. Before I let you go, because
- 23:41Speaker 1: you're a big executive, have you followed this scandal at J.P.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Morgan?
- 23:48Speaker 2: I actually have not.
- 23:52Speaker 1: You've got to read this.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I'll check into it today.
- 23:56Speaker 1: This is nationally, all right? You will laugh. It's called J.P.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Morgan's sex slave case.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got to read it. This woman's name, let
- 24:10Speaker 1: me give you her name. I've got to find her name.
- 24:16Speaker 2: He has a sex slave case.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to see this. You got to read this.
- 24:21Speaker 1: You will.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Her name is, the woman in question is L-O-R-N-A, and
- 24:33Speaker 1: her last name is H-A-J-D-I-N-I. And just Google that and
- 24:43Speaker 1: read that story. I'll Google it. And they offer this
- 24:47Speaker 1: guy $ 20 million, and he turned it down.
- 24:49Speaker 2: $ 20 million. Well, he's got a lot of money then.
- 24:55Speaker 1: No, he turned it down. I guess he wants more.
- 24:57Speaker 1: You've got to read this case.
- 24:59Speaker 2: All right. I've got to read the article.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And then you've got to comment on it tomorrow.
- 25:05Speaker 2: All right.
- 25:07Speaker 1: You'll say, it's unbelievable.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Really?
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's unbelievable. All right.
- 25:13Speaker 2: See.
- 25:13Speaker 1: You know what?
- 25:14Speaker 2: One more thing.
- 25:15Speaker 1: What is it now?
- 25:18Speaker 2: Real quick about the fraud in Ohio.
- 25:20Speaker 3: And when he said this, it caught me.
- 25:23Speaker 2: He's my favorite. He's my favorite. I mean, I like
- 25:25Speaker 2: a lot of the callers, but he's my favorite.
- 25:27Speaker 3: And he's my favorite. I don't know what it is
- 25:29Speaker 3: about him.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I like that kid.
- 25:31Speaker 3: He said, and I even talked about this with everybody.
- 25:36Speaker 3: After he said it, I was like, yeah, no kidding.
- 25:38Speaker 3: But sometimes, you know, common sense isn't so common. So
- 25:40Speaker 3: when somebody says it, you're like, oh, my God, yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 3: of course. These Somalis didn't come to Ohio.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And do all this fraud without help. You don't pack
- 25:48Speaker 2: it up.
- 25:49Speaker 3: You know, I've been in other countries. You couldn't walk
- 25:52Speaker 3: into another country, learn their system, learn how to cheat,
- 25:55Speaker 3: most importantly, on your own.
- 25:58Speaker 5: You couldn't do it.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Do you know how hard that would be to do,
- 26:01Speaker 3: to go undetected for that long and defraud.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Us that bad?
- 26:05Speaker 3: And I thought that was brilliant and should be commented
- 26:08Speaker 3: on again.
- 26:08Speaker 2: He's a good caller.
- 26:10Speaker 1: All right. Are you done?
- 26:12Speaker 2: I'm done rambling for today. I'm all hopped up, Ron.
- 26:15Speaker 1: All right. See you.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Bye.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Bye.
- 26:18Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Hey, Ron.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Bubba Ganoush.
- 26:23Speaker 5: Can I ask you something?
- 26:25Speaker 1: Bubba Ganoush, you know I'm always here for you.
- 26:27Speaker 5: All right.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Let me ask you something. Why do you bitch about
- 26:31Speaker 2: taxes and stuff and then.
- 26:33Speaker 3: You voted all the levies in?
- 26:36Speaker 1: Well, no, I didn't. I didn't vote for the senior levy.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I did not vote for the sales tax for WRTA.
- 26:45Speaker 1: There's many levies that I do not vote for. Did
- 26:48Speaker 1: I vote in favor of the quarter percent for Pat
- 26:51Speaker 1: Giannetti's road tax? Absolutely, I did. Also, John Smith. Yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 1: they are. There's never been more roads fixed, the road miles, ever.
- 27:02Speaker 1: in this county and the quality of work that Pat
- 27:04Speaker 1: Giannetti's doing. So the road miles that he's doing throughout
- 27:07Speaker 1: Mahoning County and the benefits that your townships and cities
- 27:11Speaker 1: get from that money as well is astronomical. I voted
- 27:15Speaker 1: for it. I'd vote for it again tomorrow. It's a
- 27:17Speaker 1: quarter percent sales tax. that goes to the county engineer
- 27:20Speaker 1: for our roads. I also voted for the renewals for
- 27:24Speaker 1: my township and the road taxes there to keep my roads.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Here's the thing. I drive on these roads. They need
- 27:32Speaker 1: to be maintained. I don't need these giant potholes. Pat
- 27:36Speaker 1: Gennetti's doing a great job when it comes to the county,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and the township needs money to maintain the roads as well.
- 27:41Speaker 1: It's very expensive with the cost of asphalt. So it
- 27:44Speaker 1: was a renewal in the case of the township, two
- 27:48Speaker 1: renewals where I live, and a renewal on a quarter percent.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I support road taxes. There's some taxes that I don't think,
- 27:56Speaker 1: whether you like it or not, you need police, you
- 27:59Speaker 1: need fire, and you need an ambulance to show up.
- 28:04Speaker 1: And I'll support that because you've got to have those
- 28:06Speaker 1: services and they are becoming more costly. And so I
- 28:10Speaker 1: vote for those renewals or some additional. And it will
- 28:14Speaker 1: take that hit because you need those particular service. I
- 28:19Speaker 1: do not, as I've said, support all the rest of
- 28:23Speaker 1: this nonsense. But if you say all taxes are bad. Well,
- 28:28Speaker 1: I'm not a fan of taxes, but you do get
- 28:30Speaker 1: something for what you're paying and services that come from them.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So some of them, I'm an adult. I realize I
- 28:38Speaker 1: have to pay for those services. I need somebody to
- 28:41Speaker 1: plow my streets. I need a road department.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Hey, does that include city youngstown?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Does what include?
- 28:49Speaker 3: I'm in Mahoney County.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Does that include city youngstown?
- 28:56Speaker 1: I don't know if they get anything. It might be
- 28:58Speaker 1: different for the city. I'm not sure. It included the
- 29:01Speaker 1: townships getting money from that quarter percent sales tax. If
- 29:07Speaker 1: you know anything about the county, you've never seen more
- 29:09Speaker 1: roads get done. Roads that hadn't been done in 30
- 29:11Speaker 1: years are getting the attention, and not a dime of
- 29:14Speaker 1: it goes to raises or any of this kind of stuff.
- 29:17Speaker 1: It goes to bridges, culverts, and roads, and it's all necessary.
- 29:22Speaker 1: The Monning County Engineers budget had been the same for decades,
- 29:27Speaker 1: and that's why we couldn't get enough done, and we
- 29:29Speaker 1: had roads that were deteriorating. So I schooled you on that,
- 29:33Speaker 1: Bubba Ganoush.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Well, I have to find out if City Youngstown is
- 29:38Speaker 5: part of Mahoning County.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It is part of Mahoning County, obviously. Well, I live in.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Mill Creek Park. I mean, outside, you know, the perimeter.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I thought you were sleeping on a bench in the
- 29:52Speaker 1: park at night.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, these roads are bad. Is that what you're going
- 29:55Speaker 2: to think about me?
- 29:57Speaker 1: Well, you said you live in Mill Creek Park.
- 30:00Speaker 2: This is not Bubba Ganoush. This is Diamond Dave, by
- 30:02Speaker 2: the way.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I don't know a Diamond Dave. I just know a
- 30:04Speaker 1: Bubba Ganoush. Well. But I know Bubba Ganoush and his cousin, Kibby.
- 30:13Speaker 5: That's a good one.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 30:17Speaker 5: By the way.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I got to go.
- 30:19Speaker 2: No.
- 30:20Speaker 5: The Guardians are starting to hit now. Did you see that?
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yes. They won last night big. Big. By the way.
- 30:29Speaker 5: The Pistons, they just gave up.
- 30:31Speaker 2: They gave up before the half.
- 30:34Speaker 1: What a great... Hey, a victory's a victory. I'll take
- 30:36Speaker 1: it however they get it. It's now on to the
- 30:37Speaker 1: next round.
- 30:38Speaker 5: Yeah, but I know, but that's a great team.
- 30:41Speaker 2: They were number one in the pick.
- 30:44Speaker 1: All right. Sayonara. I've got to move along. You're on
- 30:47Speaker 1: the air. Good evening, Ron.
- 30:49Speaker 5: How are you?
- 30:49Speaker 1: It's G2 with... I'm doing well. Thank you, G2.
- 30:53Speaker 5: So, what is the general... thinking around this Massey versus
- 31:01Speaker 5: Israel fight.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Well, you give me the insight on that. Tomorrow's a
- 31:07Speaker 1: big day on that.
- 31:09Speaker 5: Tomorrow's the big day. They deployed Hegseth today to go
- 31:12Speaker 5: down to fight against Massey. And it's interesting. I'm seeing
- 31:18Speaker 5: very clear delineations of attitude. If you're a Fox boomer,
- 31:22Speaker 5: you hate Thomas Massey. He's a grandstander. He's a bad guy.
- 31:27Speaker 5: He's got to be eliminated. Now, The thing is, if
- 31:30Speaker 5: you look at his voting record, it's nearly perfect. And
- 31:33Speaker 5: yet they say he voted against all these things. Well,
- 31:36Speaker 5: that's a little deceptive. But he did definitely say he's
- 31:41Speaker 5: not supportive of foreign aid.
- 31:44Speaker 1: At all.
- 31:45Speaker 5: Right, period. Not Israel-specific, just foreign aid. And that set
- 31:49Speaker 5: them off.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Keep in mind, he said we're $ 40 trillion in debt.
- 31:53Speaker 1: We can't afford foreign aid. And he's right.
- 31:56Speaker 5: He's right, but Israel doesn't care. And then he said,
- 32:02Speaker 5: you know, that the Epstein file should be released. And
- 32:06Speaker 5: we've talked about this extensively.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Well, he's right about that, too.
- 32:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 32:11Speaker 5: I'm saying I think, you know, Trump is an Epstein client.
- 32:14Speaker 5: I don't think anybody legitimate is still hanging on to that.
- 32:18Speaker 5: You've got to be deep in the nonsense to still
- 32:21Speaker 5: hang on to that. But it's clearly the case now.
- 32:25Speaker 5: that the premise we laid out, you know, back then,
- 32:27Speaker 5: middle of last summer, is got to be right. He
- 32:30Speaker 5: cut a deal, and in that deal, he got protection
- 32:34Speaker 5: from Epstein's clients, or he gave that. I said, I
- 32:36Speaker 5: don't know which side he was on of this. And
- 32:39Speaker 5: he got something in return for that, and I don't
- 32:41Speaker 5: know what that was. And I said a thousand times,
- 32:44Speaker 5: I hope it was a good deal. Now I'm wondering
- 32:46Speaker 5: if there's anything he could have gotten for that that
- 32:48Speaker 5: was worth it. You know, because..
- 32:51Speaker 1: No, no, there isn't. There is not. When you ran
- 32:56Speaker 1: on that, when you ran on that, and then miraculously
- 33:02Speaker 1: in that one day after you met with Netanyahu, he
- 33:05Speaker 1: changed that day where he said, are you still talking
- 33:08Speaker 1: about that story? That's old news. Literally did a 180. Yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 1: four years.
- 33:12Speaker 5: What are you talking about? Yeah, this was where the
- 33:16Speaker 5: fracture in the coalition that got Donald Trump elected first appeared.
- 33:21Speaker 5: So I'm finding that some people walking into tomorrow saying,
- 33:24Speaker 5: you've got to trust Donald Trump implicitly, whatever he wants
- 33:28Speaker 5: he should get. And I say, well, wait a minute.
- 33:30Speaker 5: There are really bad members of Congress in both Republican
- 33:33Speaker 5: and Democrat sides who vote against us all the time.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Why would we spend all this energy to get rid
- 33:40Speaker 5: of this guy? And the answer is purely, well, where
- 33:42Speaker 5: did the $ 25 million come from? And again, it's Paul Singer,
- 33:44Speaker 5: Mary Madelson. So this is Israel. The guy who they
- 33:48Speaker 5: picked to come in said, the very first thing out
- 33:51Speaker 5: of the gate was, he already said he loves Israel.
- 33:54Speaker 5: So if you've got a guy who will be a
- 33:56Speaker 5: dedicated military industrial complex supporter, just as, you know, they've been...
- 34:05Speaker 5: And they're going to try to replace the guy with
- 34:07Speaker 5: a 100% rating, an A rating, one of the top
- 34:10Speaker 5: ratings in Congress for the America First agenda. I think
- 34:14Speaker 5: this is a mistake for Trump. And my... premise is
- 34:19Speaker 5: that if he wins, if Trump wins and beats Massey,
- 34:22Speaker 5: if Israel beats Massey, then Trump loses because he's going
- 34:28Speaker 5: to fracture this coalition and the fracture is going to
- 34:31Speaker 5: become even more hard to heal. If Trump loses..
- 34:46Speaker 1: News at 6 and then first pitch a little bit
- 34:49Speaker 1: after 6.30 here on NewsRadio 570. And as they take
- 34:53Speaker 1: on the Tigers tonight with G2. So I think we
- 34:57Speaker 1: have a short broadcast tomorrow, 3 to 6. So you
- 34:59Speaker 1: have to call me probably sometime during the 3 to
- 35:02Speaker 1: 6 time frame to talk about the outcome. Well, I
- 35:07Speaker 1: don't know if we'll know the outcome until tomorrow.
- 35:10Speaker 5: We might have a good indication because this is going
- 35:13Speaker 5: to be– Well, this is going to be interesting. The
- 35:16Speaker 5: Israelis are now running a text campaign for people 62
- 35:20Speaker 5: and older because they recognize that the older crowd that
- 35:23Speaker 5: watches Fox is more likely to vote in their interest
- 35:27Speaker 5: because they're just hammering them on Fox News all the time.
- 35:30Speaker 5: And I think Hegsap went down there today, and what
- 35:33Speaker 5: he did was counterproductive. But we'll see what happens in
- 35:37Speaker 5: the outcome. Right.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I mean, he's going after Bobart. I hope I'm saying
- 35:43Speaker 1: that right.
- 35:44Speaker 5: Bobart, yeah.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Bobart. He's going after Massey. He went after Marjorie Taylor Greene.
- 35:49Speaker 1: These are some of his most staunch supporters over the years.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Tucker Carlson. I'm trying to think of Megan. I don't
- 35:57Speaker 1: know if Megan Kelly falls for that. But he's going
- 35:59Speaker 1: after all of these people in a vile way. I
- 36:05Speaker 1: just shake my head.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Yeah, the logic is questionable. So, well, I will try
- 36:10Speaker 5: to connect with you tomorrow and we'll see what we
- 36:12Speaker 5: know about the Massey outcome and whatever else is rearing
- 36:16Speaker 5: its head.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, they are spending huge sums of money,
- 36:21Speaker 1: unbelievable money to try to defeat this guy who is
- 36:27Speaker 1: really has a great voting record as far as his
- 36:31Speaker 1: conservative vote.
- 36:33Speaker 5: You cannot get anywhere near this kind of fundraising for
- 36:36Speaker 5: a traditional conservative candidate who will vote and fight for
- 36:39Speaker 5: the American agenda. You can't get it. This money doesn't
- 36:42Speaker 5: exist for Republicans. It only exists in this case.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Well, like that guy he knocked off, was it yesterday?
- 36:51Speaker 1: Who was that guy that voted against the president on..
- 36:57Speaker 5: To was it oh that guy i mean yeah he
- 36:59Speaker 5: was a bad guy uh yeah yeah um bill um
- 37:02Speaker 5: yeah yeah yeah he i was great it was great
- 37:05Speaker 5: to see that guy get defeated he was terrible right
- 37:09Speaker 5: why aren't we taking out more of them instead of
- 37:10Speaker 5: massey that's the critical question and the answer is that's
- 37:14Speaker 5: just not what mary madelson decided and she decided kentucky
- 37:18Speaker 5: can't have thomas see I.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Mean, I look at this, and I look at what
- 37:23Speaker 1: he's doing to his supporters, to the people that backed him,
- 37:27Speaker 1: and I just don't get it. None of this makes sense.
- 37:32Speaker 1: And you've been spot on. You've been critical of him
- 37:35Speaker 1: when he made that decision about Epstein, and you said
- 37:38Speaker 1: that is a bad decision that he made when he
- 37:40Speaker 1: was going down that road. You thought we should never
- 37:44Speaker 1: have gotten this war in the first place. Now, how
- 37:47Speaker 1: do we get out of it, and where do we
- 37:49Speaker 1: go from here? So you were, frankly, if I look
- 37:53Speaker 1: at the G2 track record, you've been spot on on
- 37:55Speaker 1: this stuff. We'll have to talk more about it tomorrow.
- 37:58Speaker 1: We're out of time today. So either Tuesday or Wednesday
- 38:01Speaker 1: will be really interesting if we don't know the outcome
- 38:03Speaker 1: of that race or have any indication at this time tomorrow. Hey,
- 38:06Speaker 1: thank you, G2. Appreciate it. You're welcome. I look forward
- 38:09Speaker 1: to his comments on all of that stuff. Hey, stay tuned.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Guardians are coming up next. Appreciate you tuning in. Ron
- 38:14Speaker 1: Verp from the Kingdom of Mahoning, NewsRadio 570.
- 38:21Speaker 4: From ABC News.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I'm Mike Dabusky.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Police now say two gunmen are dead who allegedly stormed
- 38:28Speaker 4: the Islamic Center of San Diego this afternoon. San Diego
- 38:31Speaker 4: Police Chief Scott Wall says all the children who were
- 38:34Speaker 4: on site were evacuated and are now safe, but there
- 38:37Speaker 4: were adult casualties.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Our hearts go out to the families that are in
- 38:42Speaker 6: this moment being notified of what has happened to their
- 38:45Speaker 6: loved ones. We have three confirmed adults that are deceased
- 38:52Speaker 6: at the Islamic Center.
- 38:53Speaker 4: An investigation into the shooter's motives is now underway. President
- 38:57Speaker 4: Trump writing on social media this afternoon that the U.S.
- 39:00Speaker 4: will hold off on a planned military attack on Iran
- 39:03Speaker 4: that had been scheduled for tomorrow.
- 39:04Speaker 7: That pause, according to the president, is because, quote, serious
- 39:07Speaker 7: negotiations are now taking place and a deal acceptable to
- 39:10Speaker 7: the U.S., quote, will be made. Still, the president warned
- 39:13Speaker 7: he's asked the Pentagon to prepare for, quote, a full
- 39:16Speaker 7: large-scale assault on Iran on a moment's notice. in the
- 39:19Speaker 7: event that an acceptable deal is not reached. Karen Travers,
- 39:22Speaker 7: ABC News, the White House.
- 39:24Speaker 4: An American citizen has tested positive for the Ebola virus
- 39:27Speaker 4: and is now being held at a U.S. military base.
- 39:30Speaker 1: In Germany.
- 39:31Speaker 4: That person identified as a medical missionary named Dr. Peter
- 39:34Speaker 4: Stafford had been working in the Democratic Republic of Congo
- 39:37Speaker 4: where an outbreak of that virus is taking place. ABC
- 39:40Speaker 4: News medical correspondent Dr. Darian Sutton has more.
- 39:43Speaker 8: There is no approved vaccine for the current strain that
- 39:45Speaker 8: we're seeing circulating in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as
- 39:48Speaker 8: well as Uganda, and there's no formal treatment. And that
- 39:52Speaker 8: is where the problem comes into play, because without that
- 39:54Speaker 8: access to a vaccine and treatment, that makes treating this
- 39:56Speaker 8: problem even more difficult. And with limitations in resources, interruptions
- 40:01Speaker 8: in aid, for example, the USAID, that leaves many of
- 40:04Speaker 8: these people without the needed assistance and increases the risk
- 40:08Speaker 8: of death.
- 40:08Speaker 1: From these infections.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Nearly 90 people are suspected to have died from Ebola
- 40:12Speaker 4: in the DRC. And in Oakland, California, Jerry tossed out
- 40:15Speaker 4: Elon Musk's lawsuit against Sam Altman. You're listening to ABC News.
