- 2:53Speaker 4: that's first and foremost.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Second of all, I am a mom, I am a
- 2:58Speaker 2: child of God Engionary, I'm an entrepreneur. I'm an insurance agent.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:03Speaker 4: In my insurance company is called Cornerstone Wealth Advisory and
- 3:07Speaker 4: Insurance Services, since with life insurance, Medicare first timers.
- 3:12Speaker 2: And those already on Medicare, and also with investments. And
- 3:15Speaker 2: I'm a single mama of four beautiful children, two boys
- 3:19Speaker 2: and two girls and three teenagers. Anyway, but yes, the applications, well,
- 3:35Speaker 2: I just want to say thank you for taking the
- 3:37Speaker 2: time out of your schedule and coming on my broadcast
- 3:39Speaker 2: around problem as everybody be theirself and were talking about
- 3:42Speaker 2: real conversations. So today we are going to talk about
- 3:46Speaker 2: you know, self care, self love. You know, I want
- 3:49Speaker 2: Tom off with an icebreaker for you, right all right?
- 3:53Speaker 3: So now.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Okay, so ready, So when people hear about the phases
- 4:04Speaker 2: of self care. You know, they all would think about,
- 4:07Speaker 2: you know, a spa day, but when you hear it,
- 4:10Speaker 2: when it comes to your mind.
- 4:11Speaker 4: At first self care, the first thing about is rest,
- 4:16Speaker 4: because my thing is rest isn't always laying down prostrates,
- 4:20Speaker 4: which is laying flat feet propped up with the pillows
- 4:23Speaker 4: and your little cucumber of sizes in your eyes.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It's rested to make sure are things getting done? Are
- 4:29Speaker 2: things being handled? And sometimes that rest can incorporate resting
- 4:34Speaker 2: your mind, not just your body, but your mind as well.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It could be something as small as journaling to have
- 4:40Speaker 2: a quiet moment to yourself, listen to your ratchet music
- 4:43Speaker 2: or spa music, whatever whatever you gospel music, whatever music
- 4:46Speaker 2: can choose.
- 4:47Speaker 4: But this makes that's the first thing that comes to
- 4:49Speaker 4: mind when I think about self care is rest.
- 4:53Speaker 3: You know, I think for me, I think of self care.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I think of.
- 5:00Speaker 1: MMM.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I say I said love, Why love? I think because
- 5:08Speaker 3: you you have to love yourself, you.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Know, like for melf self love like self love is
- 5:14Speaker 2: definitely where is that self care?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Because who don't care about you besides you?
- 5:19Speaker 2: And if you don't love yourself, who will love you?
- 5:21Speaker 2: You expect me to love you, love yourself right.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I feel you.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I was looking at you, So when did you first
- 5:30Speaker 2: realize self care has been a deep, deep importance to
- 5:33Speaker 2: you better than you know.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Bubble bath and vacation.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Let me get mussel together, because hold on there. I
- 5:46Speaker 2: realized how important self care was when I was going
- 5:49Speaker 2: through my divorce.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Let's just be real, because.
- 5:52Speaker 4: I realized after being a mom for so long, a
- 5:56Speaker 4: wife for so long, and wear those hats and putting
- 5:58Speaker 4: me before my health to where my doctor was saying,
- 6:01Speaker 4: you have ulcers you have you're losing hair, You're losing skin,
- 6:03Speaker 4: your teeth is hurt, and all that stuff going on.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It was stress induced.
- 6:07Speaker 4: That was my bottom and my valley experience to realize
- 6:10Speaker 4: how important self care is. So now my self care
- 6:13Speaker 4: is getting my nails done, going for a walk at
- 6:16Speaker 4: the gym, around the neighborhood, making sure I have moments
- 6:19Speaker 4: throughout the date and a felt the week that I
- 6:21Speaker 4: have that self care. And when I realized I don't
- 6:22Speaker 4: have that self care, I start to stress a little bit.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I feel tension in my face, in my neck. I'm
- 6:27Speaker 4: looking for physical markers to say, hey, when's less I
- 6:30Speaker 4: arrested okay, and it's just that was.
- 6:33Speaker 2: The biggest thing.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I realized that I was not taking care of myself
- 6:36Speaker 4: when my doctors were telling me straight up, hey, we
- 6:40Speaker 4: don't know what's going on in your life right now,
- 6:41Speaker 4: but if you don't stop whatever's happening to you and
- 6:44Speaker 4: take care of yourself, then you're gonna die and you're
- 6:47Speaker 4: gonna die out and look just like this because of stress.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And well, they didn't realize that I was going through
- 6:51Speaker 2: a divorce, so they didn't realize this.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I have a chronic illness for over twenty eight years,
- 6:54Speaker 4: well almost twenty eight years now. I have chron disease
- 6:57Speaker 4: that requires me the case and also self care. But
- 7:00Speaker 4: that again, to be a wife and mother, I put
- 7:02Speaker 4: everything on the back burner. I didn't know how to
- 7:04Speaker 4: balance time for me and time as a mom and
- 7:08Speaker 4: other titles that I have in my life.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I don't know how to do that.
- 7:12Speaker 4: So through that experience, I've learned if I don't take
- 7:14Speaker 4: care of myself and even more reason like, I felt
- 7:18Speaker 4: that burnout feeling like throughout the summer because I have
- 7:22Speaker 4: one kid doing football, I have so many things going
- 7:24Speaker 4: on a different levels with my business, you know, the
- 7:27Speaker 4: entrepreneur mode, getting that mode sometimes and not know how
- 7:30Speaker 4: to off.
- 7:31Speaker 2: All the time.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So tell me about it. Excuse me.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like I feel again, and also with my
- 7:36Speaker 4: health tory to balance out, you know, new medications and
- 7:39Speaker 4: these tests they want to do and it's just a lot.
- 7:42Speaker 4: But I have to make sure and make a priority
- 7:44Speaker 4: consciously or it's going to be on the back burner
- 7:47Speaker 4: again and I can't go through that again.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think with me with self care is I think
- 7:51Speaker 2: because you know, you know me, I'm always on boom boom.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Boom boom boom boom boom boom.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Like even my friends, my family and my spouse, they
- 7:58Speaker 2: always tell me when you gonna relax, when you're gonna
- 8:01Speaker 2: do for you, and you know I take certain things
- 8:04Speaker 2: off like oh no, I do nothing.
- 8:07Speaker 3: The answer is no, no, thank you.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I'm not going nowhere. Let's say I got my who,
- 8:13Speaker 2: I got my wine. Listen, when I'm at home, I
- 8:19Speaker 2: want nobody to bother me, like my man understand, Like yo,
- 8:23Speaker 2: I don't wanna talk at the moment.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Just give me this timeframe, just too and just what's that?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Literally, just give a few minutes and don't gotta be
- 8:33Speaker 4: all day I still love your care for you, baby,
- 8:35Speaker 4: but you're gonna give you a few minutes for myself
- 8:37Speaker 4: to realize I have to touch base with myself and
- 8:39Speaker 4: be into myself for a few minutes because it's been
- 8:41Speaker 4: a easy day.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Their stresses life on everybody. Everyone has their stressors. They're
- 8:46Speaker 2: different for different people. Everybody can get stressed off with
- 8:48Speaker 2: different things differently. You may be want be stressed for
- 8:51Speaker 2: some person, may be a trigger for somebody else. And
- 8:53Speaker 2: you gotta always get conscious of that. And if you
- 8:55Speaker 2: don't take that top for yourself, who wanta do it?
- 8:57Speaker 2: You won't be checking out of the hospital. Oh I
- 8:59Speaker 2: guess you did it, break, but it is too late.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Sometimes you can't read, you can't you can't retract on
- 9:04Speaker 4: certain things.
- 9:05Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 9:06Speaker 4: So it's you better take that time, baby, listen.
- 9:10Speaker 2: If you don't land, it's like, how can you functioning life?
- 9:15Speaker 3: You know?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Like you said, you are a mom, you're a business
- 9:18Speaker 2: owner and slash an entrepreneur. You know over here, I'm
- 9:21Speaker 2: an author, I'm a poet, I'm a brock at and
- 9:24Speaker 2: I'm in school and I have a relationship. I don't
- 9:27Speaker 2: have kids, but I have different You know our program.
- 9:30Speaker 3: What's the word.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'm looking for other things I need to maintain. So
- 9:35Speaker 2: how do you teach your kids self kid?
- 9:38Speaker 3: You know?
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know football practice, you know school, you know doing
- 9:42Speaker 2: different organizations, you know being being the children, being a child,
- 9:46Speaker 2: you know how the brothers and sister running around. You
- 9:49Speaker 2: know as a mom, like, how do you teach your
- 9:51Speaker 2: children how to self kid at the early age?
- 9:54Speaker 3: At dar right now?
- 9:55Speaker 2: Communicate. We can't expect our kids to communicate with us
- 9:59Speaker 2: effect living. Can't communicate with our kids effectively. So a
- 10:02Speaker 2: lot of times it's mommy needs a break right now.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Mommy is tired, right now, I need a few minutes.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Oh I got no, give me a few minutes, Mammy,
- 10:13Speaker 2: give me about five minutes was my timer. I did
- 10:16Speaker 2: a few minutes a quiet time and then you can
- 10:18Speaker 2: come on with the questions or you know, I mean sitting,
- 10:22Speaker 2: have my quiet moment and they may not know that
- 10:25Speaker 2: and bust them in the room.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Oh no, no.
- 10:28Speaker 2: No, it's quiet time. Come back in about ten minutes.
- 10:32Speaker 2: That I got you.
- 10:34Speaker 3: And if you don't.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Communicate with our kids, know that it's appropriate to ask
- 10:37Speaker 4: for it's okay to ask for and communicate.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That with our children. How do you gonna know how
- 10:41Speaker 2: to do it? And I'm not screaming, I'm not hollering.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I'm talking, Hey, it's quiet time. So my kids are
- 10:48Speaker 2: much younger, I would say, oh it's quiet time, but
- 10:51Speaker 2: it's not outside. It's time to go on your bed
- 10:55Speaker 2: for some rest for a little while.
- 10:56Speaker 3: The mommy look outside like this.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Bobby, Yes, because sometimes you know when you when you
- 11:06Speaker 2: fore your fuse being let them both ins, and you
- 11:09Speaker 2: would have blow out on your kids, and you don't
- 11:10Speaker 2: want to show them that part of you because your
- 11:12Speaker 2: childhood or through other experiences that maybe tread it for you.
- 11:15Speaker 2: You don't want to be and you call your kids
- 11:18Speaker 2: a B C, A to Z. You want you your
- 11:22Speaker 2: nose and your ears and they know it's you better tell.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Them kids, go to be. It's quite a time of
- 11:30Speaker 4: fifteen minutes. Y'all be an arguing all day. I suggest
- 11:32Speaker 4: y'all go to your rooms.
- 11:37Speaker 2: So like that, So having kids, you know self kids
- 11:42Speaker 2: also you know called boundaries. You know because because a
- 11:47Speaker 2: lot of people again I always speak this a lot,
- 11:50Speaker 2: I spent us on you know, the wrong broadcast, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 2: just a black canvas and I had just to do bodcasts.
- 11:57Speaker 3: You know, boundaries is always a pull in.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You know, boundary is always you know that self love,
- 12:03Speaker 2: boundary is always you.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Know that self care.
- 12:07Speaker 2: So how do you you know, how can I say,
- 12:12Speaker 2: how do you handle.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Boundaries with you know, a family member, friends, you know,
- 12:17Speaker 3: I work have.
- 12:18Speaker 2: To learn that if they really would care, they would
- 12:20Speaker 2: reach out. I can't always reach out to people because
- 12:25Speaker 2: sometimes my mind may forget or I'm like I need
- 12:27Speaker 2: some time to myself. Most of the summer I don't
- 12:29Speaker 2: really reach out a lot of people the summertime. This myth.
- 12:31Speaker 2: This summer was like I didn't do a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 2: vacations with my kids running around. My kids. We would
- 12:35Speaker 2: the beach a few times. That was it.
- 12:37Speaker 4: My goal this summer was to rest and heal because
- 12:39Speaker 4: I had a lot of medical things going on as well.
- 12:41Speaker 4: And then when I put out a balance to work
- 12:43Speaker 4: at the work, you know, workload in there as well.
- 12:45Speaker 4: But the biggest thing with boundaries is I'm gonna do
- 12:47Speaker 4: what I can when I can. I can't do for everybody,
- 12:50Speaker 4: and if I can't, I'm gonna tell you no. And
- 12:52Speaker 4: I don't have to explain what my no is and
- 12:53Speaker 4: why I'm saying no, I can say disrespectfully no, thank
- 12:56Speaker 4: you and going about my business.
- 12:59Speaker 2: You're not gonna add more my play because your play
- 13:01Speaker 2: is full of you on the no, like I said,
- 13:05Speaker 2: just as nice as I did. I don't think the
- 13:06Speaker 2: attitude nasty with you. But no, it's my no and
- 13:09Speaker 2: my boundaries, my boundary. I'm gonna explain that to you.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And I've learned that just run the past a year
- 13:14Speaker 2: or two. If I said no, noo, kids will say, well, why,
- 13:17Speaker 2: but why? Sometimes you can always answer why because I
- 13:21Speaker 2: said so, And in the moment when I have more
- 13:24Speaker 2: time on my hand to explain that to you, out
- 13:26Speaker 2: of that moment, whatever that necessary moment is, I can
- 13:29Speaker 2: break it down for you. But in this moment, the
- 13:30Speaker 2: answer is no, and that's it, and that's what friends, children, whatever.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I think a lot of people don't understand the word
- 13:37Speaker 2: no because it's definitely oh. They oh, They want oh, listen,
- 13:42Speaker 2: they want an explanation after no. And I think for me,
- 13:47Speaker 2: I have learned even with this year, I have not
- 13:51Speaker 2: been out. Honestly, I've been outside for certain things, right,
- 13:55Speaker 2: I haven't like when people book me for certain things.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I'm like, what if I'm gaining off of this, you know, right,
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm like, no, you're just when use me because I
- 14:07Speaker 2: mean no the answers, no, why you can't do this
- 14:10Speaker 2: or why.
- 14:10Speaker 3: You can't I don't have to give you that answer.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I'm not able to have this time. I pray you
- 14:16Speaker 2: for I s wil to feel that spot that you
- 14:18Speaker 2: need me to feel, have a blessed day exactly. It
- 14:23Speaker 2: rubbed me the wrong way, and it rubs some of
- 14:25Speaker 2: my friends refreshing like they want to answer right then
- 14:29Speaker 2: me as an individual person, I don't have to.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I'm not obligated to give you that answer.
- 14:38Speaker 2: That part, that part, I'm not obliging to tell you anything.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Noah's no. I apologize you feel some kind of way
- 14:45Speaker 2: you want to show up to the event or do
- 14:46Speaker 2: ABC X y Z, but it's not can I And
- 14:49Speaker 2: I'm not able to do that now. I'm sorry I
- 14:51Speaker 2: disappointed you, but I cannot be there for everybody that
- 14:53Speaker 2: can't be there for myself. And sometimes like I hate
- 14:55Speaker 2: to say no to people.
- 14:57Speaker 4: I always wanted to try to go and go to
- 14:59Speaker 4: everybody's even to support everybody, but sometimes God shows me
- 15:03Speaker 4: I need to slow my happy self down and just
- 15:05Speaker 4: be still, peace, Be still, sounds forty six and one,
- 15:09Speaker 4: and it says be still so many times in the Bible,
- 15:11Speaker 4: But how many times we have to actually operate and
- 15:13Speaker 4: that be still more, be still and listen, be still
- 15:16Speaker 4: and no no what know who you are?
- 15:19Speaker 2: Know to how I say no? So my next question
- 15:24Speaker 2: is for you, how have you ever felt guilty for
- 15:26Speaker 2: putting yourself first?
- 15:27Speaker 3: And how how did you handle it?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yes? Again, Like, the biggest issue I had with like
- 15:38Speaker 2: self care and boundaries is when I was going through
- 15:40Speaker 2: my divorce, and a lot of times that was I
- 15:43Speaker 2: realized I had to say no more often, and a
- 15:45Speaker 2: lot of times I felt guilty because I'm like, I
- 15:47Speaker 2: couldn't be there for everybody to do this. I don't
- 15:49Speaker 2: feel like I just I was not in the mental
- 15:51Speaker 2: capacity to go on people's faces ki ha ha if
- 15:55Speaker 2: how I was going through Even then, I was going
- 15:58Speaker 2: through real private So I'm not going to broadcast I'm
- 16:00Speaker 2: going through the streets. Some people were trying to say,
- 16:01Speaker 2: what's going on with you? Nothing? I can't know. But
- 16:05Speaker 2: that really hurt me, And it kind of bothered me
- 16:07Speaker 2: because I hated showing two people out. But for my
- 16:10Speaker 2: mental health, talk about things that are traumatic for you
- 16:12Speaker 2: and to you over and over and over and over
- 16:15Speaker 2: and over and over and over and over and over again.
- 16:19Speaker 2: It's not healthy.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Mental health professionals said that all the time, you know
- 16:23Speaker 4: what I'm saying. So that was like the hardest part
- 16:25Speaker 4: of them was saying no. And even when my kids were
- 16:27Speaker 4: much younger, they wanted to go, excuse me, this party,
- 16:32Speaker 4: that party, this event, that event. Sometime I couldn't just
- 16:35Speaker 4: do it. I had to tell them no. They're crying boohoo,
- 16:36Speaker 4: and Mamma loves you. I'm gonna say your mama, I
- 16:38Speaker 4: still love you. You could be upset, you can have
- 16:40Speaker 4: your emotion, but I have to say no at the time.
- 16:42Speaker 4: And it's just eventually getting more used to it. I
- 16:45Speaker 4: have four, so eventually you start getting good at it.
- 16:49Speaker 3: No. Just like that. I think for me growing up,
- 16:56Speaker 3: I think I didn't. I had another. It wasn't a
- 17:03Speaker 3: lot of noes for me.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I think it was a lot of I can see
- 17:07Speaker 2: what I can do, I can see what I can do,
- 17:10Speaker 2: and eventually, you know you're telling that child not to
- 17:13Speaker 2: get your hopes up, but not to get your hopes
- 17:15Speaker 2: It's like it's mid level, and you know, I learned
- 17:19Speaker 2: that you know, a lot of people are scared to
- 17:23Speaker 2: tell me you know why I was little because like
- 17:24Speaker 2: it hurt my feelings.
- 17:25Speaker 3: But now you tell me no, cool, Cool because I
- 17:30Speaker 3: respect that.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I respect your boundaries, right, and I respect you as
- 17:34Speaker 2: a person being out front with me. Hey, I'm sorry
- 17:36Speaker 2: I can't do this. Hey, I'm sorry I can't come
- 17:39Speaker 2: because back then, for me, I always expect a lot
- 17:42Speaker 2: of people be like why did not come in? I
- 17:44Speaker 2: always been like down, like right, I expect so much
- 17:49Speaker 2: people to do certain things, but reality kicked them.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Like sometimes they can't do what you they can't.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Do right, and sometimes they can show up how you
- 18:01Speaker 2: want them to show up.
- 18:02Speaker 3: That's right.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Sometimes they have to show up for their own self.
- 18:06Speaker 2: They don't even know how to do that exactly. So
- 18:09Speaker 2: people really do not and you can tell about their
- 18:10Speaker 2: self care. You ain't brush your teeth, brush your hair,
- 18:13Speaker 2: get your hair washed, and wash your tail and how long.
- 18:16Speaker 2: And one thing I'll be saying, one of my little
- 18:18Speaker 2: quotes I'll be saying is especial TikTok. A little little
- 18:20Speaker 2: social media pages.
- 18:21Speaker 4: If y'all follow, I say, I'm gonna mind my business,
- 18:26Speaker 4: brush my teeth with my deorder and drink my water.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Just I gotta worry about worry about you too, no ma'am,
- 18:33Speaker 4: no sir.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Oday. So let's let's switch a little bit, switch more
- 18:39Speaker 3: about it. You know, you say you're an entrepreneur.
- 18:42Speaker 2: You know, let's talk about your business, you know, real quick,
- 18:45Speaker 2: you know, let's let's talk about you know, health assurance.
- 18:48Speaker 2: You know why it's important to have health assurance because
- 18:50Speaker 2: pretty much self care and self love is always have
- 18:54Speaker 2: to do with that will come down to you know,
- 18:56Speaker 2: family members and have a certain thing happen, be having
- 18:59Speaker 2: this honest conversation with them, So let's talk about it
- 19:02Speaker 2: for minutes.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Well, for me, I specialize in medicare more for health
- 19:09Speaker 2: insurance for seniors who around sixty five or have a
- 19:11Speaker 2: disability and how are able to get medicare right, So
- 19:14Speaker 2: it's basically the same thing for you people who are younger.
- 19:16Speaker 2: If you care about your simple love yourself, go on
- 19:18Speaker 2: a doctor on a regular basis. Don't be fearful of
- 19:21Speaker 2: the doctors. I know you have trauma when it comes
- 19:23Speaker 2: to doctors. But if you do basic maintenance that helps
- 19:27Speaker 2: curb a lot of things to go with your body.
- 19:29Speaker 2: If you know there's something hereditary in your family, diabetes,
- 19:33Speaker 2: high blood pressure, congestive heart failure. It would be wise
- 19:37Speaker 2: to use wisdom to get these things check out regularly
- 19:39Speaker 2: so you can have preventative measures in place. If you
- 19:42Speaker 2: brush your teeth, I may joke about it, but if
- 19:43Speaker 2: you honestly, my great great brother, a great great excuse me.
- 19:47Speaker 2: You used to say, take care of your teeth, your eyes,
- 19:49Speaker 2: your ears, and your feet. With eyes, you got to
- 19:54Speaker 2: be able to see. You can't go to prescription. I
- 19:56Speaker 2: need to know one now if you have a prescription,
- 19:58Speaker 2: excuse me, Gary aunty, but you can't see right if
- 20:01Speaker 2: you cant take care of your teeth, But how you
- 20:03Speaker 2: teeth in your mouth? And also a lot of bacteria,
- 20:06Speaker 2: a lot of heart infections and blood can come out
- 20:09Speaker 2: of sores and lesions in your mouth. You got taking
- 20:12Speaker 2: care of your hearing. How you gonna hear what going on?
- 20:14Speaker 2: If you can't, you can't, you can't. You know what
- 20:16Speaker 2: I'm saying. I got that situated. Also when it comes
- 20:18Speaker 2: down to taking care of your feet. How many people
- 20:21Speaker 2: diabetes are told to be extra cautious of what's going
- 20:24Speaker 2: on with their feet? A lot, right, A lot right
- 20:27Speaker 2: now that I deal with with seniors, especially those who
- 20:29Speaker 2: are African American, deal with heart issues, deal with UH diabetes,
- 20:36Speaker 2: high blood pressure, cardiovascular issues. Hey, taboid rice zevi anyway, anyway,
- 20:46Speaker 2: But that's the biggest thing that I'm dealing with, and
- 20:49Speaker 2: not just call you know, our elderly black you know,
- 20:51Speaker 2: our elders of the family, but also with Caucasian individuals.
- 20:54Speaker 2: They deal more with mental health issues.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Sometimes not saying every white person or every Black person
- 21:01Speaker 4: just with these things, but this I see prevalent in
- 21:03Speaker 4: a home.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Another big thing I see with seniors is loneliness.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Y'all.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Self care isn't about abandoning granny and grandpa. Now I
- 21:12Speaker 4: understand generational trauma, etc. But sometimes all they want is
- 21:15Speaker 4: you to pop up real quick and say hello, I
- 21:18Speaker 4: don't look like half my clients. I make sure you
- 21:21Speaker 4: on my mind. If God puts you on my heart
- 21:23Speaker 4: in my mind, I want to pop up. And right now,
- 21:25Speaker 4: loneliness is one of the biggest killers of seniors. Right now,
- 21:29Speaker 4: they're neglected themselves.
- 21:30Speaker 2: They don't care they and God bless us who have
- 21:33Speaker 2: cats and puppies as they feel like some reason to
- 21:35Speaker 2: live forward. You know what I'm saying, But any preventative
- 21:38Speaker 2: of anything. As far as your health is important. I
- 21:40Speaker 2: don't care what age you are. If you've an issue,
- 21:43Speaker 2: get taken care of. It's what you see on TV
- 21:45Speaker 2: and what's.
- 21:46Speaker 4: On popular right now, pipple pop and all those stuff
- 21:48Speaker 4: they got leisures and cancers, bulbous things all across save
- 21:51Speaker 4: body from top to bottom and not get they taken
- 21:53Speaker 4: care of.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I had this leave on my back for seven years.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I had this lump on my hip for seven and
- 22:01Speaker 2: twenty seven years. And I think Jayla and dangling baby
- 22:07Speaker 2: baby couldn't be me? Is this a what of me?
- 22:14Speaker 2: Is this a I'm going to the.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Doctor see by a lot of people scared? You know what?
- 22:19Speaker 3: I think a lot of people are scared of the results.
- 22:22Speaker 4: That and it has to be what it is, the fear.
- 22:24Speaker 4: But if you get you know one, it's minute, but
- 22:26Speaker 4: to make it's bigger, women, it really is cancer and
- 22:28Speaker 4: everything's put across your whole day one body and been
- 22:31Speaker 4: ten twenty years now.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Baby, it's too late.
- 22:32Speaker 4: But they called it when it's permitted, when it was small,
- 22:35Speaker 4: when you first got that thing checked out.
- 22:38Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Like cool now, A lot
- 22:40Speaker 2: of it I got to be fair, baby, it gotta
- 22:43Speaker 2: be me who I'm a Listen, I am a true
- 22:49Speaker 2: believer man and going to the doctor.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I am a true believer. I'm telling you just wasn't here.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I'm telling you I'm true. Listen.
- 22:58Speaker 2: If anybody have go to my social media back in
- 23:01Speaker 2: the day, you have seen, if you have seen my
- 23:04Speaker 2: teeth and was horbout.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I took the first. I took the first that.
- 23:09Speaker 2: It gotta fix a lot like a lot of people
- 23:13Speaker 2: are just scared to take that first step.
- 23:14Speaker 4: I'm telling you, yeah, he did fear. I bet what guy,
- 23:18Speaker 4: he was fifty eight years old for a holler at
- 23:20Speaker 4: me baby.
- 23:21Speaker 3: That's a whole other conversation.
- 23:22Speaker 4: But one thing about it. He had trauma from his
- 23:24Speaker 4: teenage ys or get his teeth done. This man teeth
- 23:28Speaker 4: was rotten in his mouth and he talking about he's
- 23:30Speaker 4: scared to go to he wanna get a whole new
- 23:32Speaker 4: cit of teeth. But you know how much a whole
- 23:34Speaker 4: of the teeth costs For what I'm got a hold
- 23:37Speaker 4: on one side of my mouth. That thing cost five
- 23:39Speaker 4: thousand dollars for one tooth. Imagine the whole cit of thirty.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Two Okay, and that's not including insurance.
- 23:45Speaker 4: That's gonna include pain, because not including the injections put
- 23:48Speaker 4: you to sleep every two beating the place and pulled
- 23:51Speaker 4: out and put back together.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Everybody, maybe.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You need how God like I'm telling you because I
- 23:58Speaker 2: just don't understand you sit here. I understand you know
- 24:02Speaker 2: health health. You know you don't have a health assurance
- 24:05Speaker 2: and stuff like that. But baby, you go to the hospital,
- 24:08Speaker 2: they have to check you out, they have to doctor office.
- 24:14Speaker 2: It's a different right, different right. But there's even free
- 24:18Speaker 2: health cliics out right now. You have to do your
- 24:20Speaker 2: research and do your homework, but there's free health clinics
- 24:23Speaker 2: and get help you out right now for for either
- 24:25Speaker 2: for absolutely free or for a minuscule minute price. And
- 24:29Speaker 2: here in the low Country there's a clinic and Summerville
- 24:32Speaker 2: that will meet on a regular basis at a local church.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I think call He Hands Ministry if I'm not mistaken,
- 24:36Speaker 2: they'll meet on a regular basis and do basic over
- 24:39Speaker 2: check of your body. They have free dental clinics there
- 24:41Speaker 2: as well. If you guys want to get pulled, get
- 24:43Speaker 2: the tooth pulled, make sure is the right one, but
- 24:46Speaker 2: get the tool palled questions, But it's It's very important, man,
- 24:54Speaker 2: it's very important. I don't know because the game fear
- 24:57Speaker 2: a fear is mentally tru My people don't like yo.
- 25:02Speaker 2: If you know you have the fear because I get
- 25:05Speaker 2: I hear these stories. I definitely hear these stories of
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, doctors do take advantage of patients when they
- 25:11Speaker 2: at a low point.
- 25:13Speaker 3: But that's not every doctor. That's right doctor.
- 25:17Speaker 2: And then do you have do your.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Research if you think your doctor is a scle wad
- 25:20Speaker 4: and you have insurance or not, find one that you trust,
- 25:24Speaker 4: Find irreputable doctor that you like and you trust. If
- 25:27Speaker 4: you want want to look like you, I don't care
- 25:28Speaker 4: what your color you have, if I want to look
- 25:30Speaker 4: like you, If you don't want to like you, if
- 25:31Speaker 4: you want a female, if you want a male doctor,
- 25:33Speaker 4: what your issue is, request what you would like. But
- 25:36Speaker 4: make sure you get out of that fear and can
- 25:38Speaker 4: so check because God forbase something happening. You have children
- 25:40Speaker 4: depend on you, a spouse depending on you, family depending
- 25:43Speaker 4: on you, and you being selfis oh, I got time, I.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Got time, I got to work these hours. I want
- 25:47Speaker 2: to put that check in with it. That's I mean,
- 25:49Speaker 2: it is what it is. You know what I'm saying.
- 25:50Speaker 2: And some people are so fearful whether they got chest
- 25:53Speaker 2: pains or side pains or something they think made going
- 25:56Speaker 2: on because they're so fearful. But at the same time,
- 25:59Speaker 2: you have the use that fear to scare you to
- 26:01Speaker 2: get right. You know what I'm saying.
- 26:03Speaker 4: If you know you gotta lose some weight and the
- 26:05Speaker 4: beanies and weenies and eat them fat back and put
- 26:07Speaker 4: back and the fat ryns and ik me for dinner,
- 26:10Speaker 4: did you need to start doing that?
- 26:11Speaker 2: But the see and the thing is honesty, honesty, right,
- 26:16Speaker 2: you know you you want to lose, and I'm on this.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Weight loss journey. I'm telling you I was lost fifteen. Listen,
- 26:23Speaker 3: I was big by your boy and your boy looking.
- 26:27Speaker 3: But like you have to be honest with yourself, like
- 26:31Speaker 3: you have to be honest with yourself.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Like I said, if you look at my social media
- 26:35Speaker 2: way back in my college year, this was not like
- 26:38Speaker 2: this telling you until I've been realistic and be like, yo,
- 26:43Speaker 2: my tea look messed up.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I want to say the other word, but my tee
- 26:47Speaker 3: look messed up.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Especially nobody would date no personally when I messed out,
- 26:51Speaker 2: Like it's not self.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Care, like you not taking care of yourself. Right.
- 26:54Speaker 2: That tells a lot, you know, and and shot to
- 26:57Speaker 2: my doctor Trevor because Trevor Trevor is wanted to girls.
- 27:00Speaker 3: And really he really be honest with you. It's like,
- 27:05Speaker 3: you know you're supposed to be doing that. You know
- 27:07Speaker 3: you're supposed to be doing that. This is right.
- 27:09Speaker 2: But shout out to traveler man, like real quick. So
- 27:12Speaker 2: my next question for you, right is you see let
- 27:16Speaker 2: me get nervous.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Let you the question. I'm like, oh, let me look.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I'll be like, hold on, well, I'll be like, hold up,
- 27:22Speaker 2: what's the next question?
- 27:25Speaker 3: A b cd M. True? So how do you you
- 27:31Speaker 3: know self evaluate yourself?
- 27:33Speaker 2: You know, like I said, I do about how I feel.
- 27:36Speaker 2: So sometimes I'm feeling that kind of down. Let me
- 27:39Speaker 2: go for a walk, Let me have a little ton
- 27:40Speaker 2: of myself. Let me listen to my music. I like
- 27:41Speaker 2: to said, I listen to a wide variety of music.
- 27:44Speaker 2: If I, like I said before, if I feel attention
- 27:46Speaker 2: to my body in a certain places, even now, who
- 27:48Speaker 2: else I have to bow bath? You know what I'm saying.
- 27:49Speaker 4: I check myself and sometimes even to day, like my
- 27:52Speaker 4: goal is to day just get to the gym for
- 27:53Speaker 4: thirty minutes. Like after that, Michaels are already in the car.
- 27:55Speaker 4: I know how I get. So my goal is in
- 28:00Speaker 4: the gym, but these thirty minutes, get on the trip
- 28:01Speaker 4: and go. I when and every time I say it,
- 28:03Speaker 4: even when I say I had a trip myself, I say,
- 28:05Speaker 4: let go for ten minutes, just get it, just get
- 28:07Speaker 4: to the door, and now the punnet fitness up my
- 28:09Speaker 4: house two miles away to the four miles away.
- 28:12Speaker 2: So I had no excuse.
- 28:13Speaker 4: But my fond wonder you want to go, but I
- 28:15Speaker 4: go away. So with my self care, I know that
- 28:20Speaker 4: I go. You know, I have a busy day and
- 28:22Speaker 4: I'm exhausted. I know if I go for thirty minutes
- 28:24Speaker 4: an hour, I'm gonna feel so much better, and I'm
- 28:25Speaker 4: gonna sleep real good because versus sleeping, you'll work out
- 28:28Speaker 4: in the morning. You would help pep your day up.
- 28:30Speaker 4: But at night, I've learned with me, do not work
- 28:32Speaker 4: out at night. You in thirty minutes, ten minutes, whatever,
- 28:35Speaker 4: even an hour or two. I get caught up. I
- 28:36Speaker 4: say for hours to the kids home. They save they
- 28:38Speaker 4: good with my grandparents, you know they're good. But if
- 28:41Speaker 4: I get a gym at night, I see so much
- 28:43Speaker 4: better at night, and sometimes I know my self cares
- 28:45Speaker 4: also need to be.
- 28:46Speaker 2: More more work or receive more work. When I can't
- 28:48Speaker 2: get sleep at night. What's on my mind? What's what's
- 28:50Speaker 2: going on? You know what I'm saying. I had to
- 28:51Speaker 2: check myself. So it's like, you know, I I've listened
- 28:54Speaker 2: to my body. My body's hurting certain areas, bowl, baths, walk, music.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Know there's different things I do. So now get my
- 29:01Speaker 2: nails done, that's my shirt today, different things for me
- 29:06Speaker 2: to distress. I think now, I think for a lot
- 29:11Speaker 2: of my people who are listening, who's watching, So I
- 29:15Speaker 2: have a like a one on one conversation with God,
- 29:18Speaker 2: like that's very well. We if we like, we're here,
- 29:22Speaker 2: we like this, he's my homie. Like that's definitely where
- 29:26Speaker 2: I definitely feel like I can always talk to somebody
- 29:31Speaker 2: who doesn't judge me, even though he listening. I might
- 29:35Speaker 2: not want the you know, the the end results what
- 29:41Speaker 2: I want, but you know, God know what's best for me,
- 29:44Speaker 2: and God knows what's best for anybody who believes in God,
- 29:47Speaker 2: anybody who believes what they believe in.
- 29:51Speaker 3: But that's the part of my self care. So my
- 29:54Speaker 3: last question is for you.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Miss ma'am, Like, what advice can you give somebody on
- 30:00Speaker 2: you know, self care and self love or anything on
- 30:04Speaker 2: this fresh drool. The biggest thing I would I would
- 30:08Speaker 2: hit home after our discussion on today is love yourself first,
- 30:12Speaker 2: treat yourself well well, and find things and does have
- 30:17Speaker 2: to be money related, but find things.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Three fourth, things that you enjoy doing that helps relax you.
- 30:22Speaker 4: I don't care if it's blowing bubbles, call on the
- 30:24Speaker 4: coloring book, going for a walk, journaling, meditation on God's word,
- 30:30Speaker 4: or outside in the peace peaceful nature if you like
- 30:32Speaker 4: peaceful nature. So that's my biggest thing. To find something
- 30:36Speaker 4: that you like to do at least two to three things,
- 30:39Speaker 4: and it's seek to do those things on a regular
- 30:41Speaker 4: basis to lower your stress levels and take care and
- 30:43Speaker 4: love on you.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Okay, And how can people find you on social media? Facebook,
- 30:48Speaker 2: TikTok business.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Okay, Well on TikTok, Shelley, wellye pooh, coming at you
