Speaker 1: I must have said it. I think I said it
• 1:45

• 1:47
Speaker 3: But you know what, we need the witches to know

• 2:50
  Speaker 2: guys hear me?
• 2:51
Speaker 1: We is? We is working? We'd be working, and shit,
• 2:54
Speaker 1: we be gemmin I talk like this. Now that I'm
• 2:56
Speaker 1: back from Jamaica, I have so many different access to
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: pull from.
• 3:01
  Speaker 2: I want you're all about to make up. I can't
• 3:03
Speaker 2: believe the headphones, the microla, the zoo link. It's all working.
• 3:07
Speaker 2: It's all coming all technology.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: And babe, I'm allergic totech. We're at the same age,
• 3:12
Speaker 1: we're both allergic to technology. I want to die before
• 3:15
Speaker 1: AI comes out. I just want to euthanize. I want
• 3:17
Speaker 1: a group euthanized. Do you want to do it with me?
• 3:19
Speaker 2: I'm in We'll do it in Whistler, which is I
• 3:22
Speaker 2: can see. It's where you are. It's my favorite place
• 3:24
Speaker 2: in the whole world.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Before you say another word, please, I'm going to interrupt
• 3:28
Speaker 1: you because I just learned this morning that you have
• 3:30
Speaker 1: a house in Whistler. How is that? How is it
• 3:32
Speaker 1: possible that I didn't know that?
• 3:35
Speaker 2: How are we not skiing together?
• 3:36
Speaker 1: All right? Well, how are we not skaing together?
• 3:39
Speaker 2: It's already love it first sight. I want to ski
• 3:41
Speaker 2: with you. I grew up. I learned to ski in Whistler,
• 3:45
Speaker 2: like forty five years ago.
• 3:47
  Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's what I dreamed. That's where I
• 3:50
Speaker 1: dreamed to have grown up. All my friends that grow
• 3:52
Speaker 1: up here learned how to ski here about forty five
• 3:55
Speaker 1: years ago, so you probably know some of them.
• 3:57
Speaker 2: I probably do. It's crazy we uh yeah, I grew
• 4:00
Speaker 2: up in Vancouver and so we would go up to
• 4:03
Speaker 2: Whistler on the weekends. Yeah, it's my favorite place.
• 4:06
Speaker 1: It's my favorite place too. I love especially right now,
• 4:09
Speaker 1: we're having a winter wonderland moment. We're about to get
• 4:11
  Speaker 1: fifty centimeters tonight.
• 4:13
  Speaker 2: I heard. I can't believe it. I'm actually in la
• 4:17
Speaker 2: and I'm in a hotel as you can see, and I
• 4:20
Speaker 2: have like and obviously this season has not been ideal
• 4:23
Speaker 2: yet and so finally the snow is coming. I'm so jealous.
• 4:26
Speaker 2: So are you gonna go, like straight after this podcasting.
• 4:30
Speaker 1: I'm literally out there. I'm wearing all of my bottoms
• 4:33
Speaker 1: that you can't see. My heated socks are on, I
• 4:36
Speaker 1: have my ski pants on, and I am gonna Yeah,
• 4:38
Speaker 1: We're gonna run out the door and ski. I have
• 4:41
Speaker 1: a couple of friends that are visiting, so it's I
• 4:43
Speaker 1: haven't been here for a few weeks. So I came
• 4:45
Speaker 1: back and I'm like, oh good, there's lazy snow because
• 4:48
Speaker 1: you as you know, we have all this rain problem
• 4:50
Speaker 1: now where it rains to the top of the Mountain
• 4:51
Speaker 1: and then ruins all the fucking snow. But I just
• 4:54
Speaker 1: want to talk about first of all, aren't you so
• 4:56
Speaker 1: grateful to be a Canadian?
• 4:58
  Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I am. I am. I mean I'm actually
• 5:01
Speaker 2: dual now because I lived in La seventeen years, so
• 5:05
Speaker 2: I got my American citizenship when I was here.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: Well, you might want to revert that right back to
• 5:08
Speaker 1: Canada's sister. I might just want to My friends were out.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: We went over to my friend Andre's house for dinner
• 5:13
Speaker 1: last night, and so there was a bunch of Canadians
• 5:15
Speaker 1: and my American friends. We left and they go, my god,
• 5:19
Speaker 1: these Canadians are just so nice. It's so weird. And
• 5:24
Speaker 1: I'm like, I know, and they're like and their children
• 5:27
Speaker 1: are so lovely and engaged and sit at dinners and
• 5:31
Speaker 1: talk to the adults. I'm like, I know. And they're like,
• 5:34
Speaker 1: this makes us feel like shit about our own kids.
• 5:37
  Speaker 1: And I'm like, I know, I understand. Every year I
• 5:41
Speaker 1: come to Canada and I'm around my friend's kids and
• 5:44
Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, these kids could give all my friends
• 5:47
Speaker 1: in LA's kids a real run for their fucking money.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: It's because we just say the Americans are coming. This
• 5:52
Speaker 2: is what you have to do. Just pretend to listen,
• 5:55
Speaker 2: pretend to be polite. We got to live up to this.
• 5:57
Speaker 2: Just apologize a lot. Yeah, yeah, there's a good listener.
• 6:01
  Speaker 1: There's just a level. It's a very civilized society, and
• 6:05
Speaker 1: I really appreciate that, especially as an American and especially
• 6:08
Speaker 1: in present day everything that's happening. I really appreciate the civility.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: And my friend goes sometimes, she goes, do you ever
• 6:14
Speaker 1: get bored by how nice everyone is? And I was like,
• 6:17
Speaker 1: that's a very interesting question. Do I get bored with
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: people being.
• 6:23
Speaker 2: Because we're also not just like Canadians are fucking funny.
• 6:26
Speaker 2: The Canadians have a good time.
• 6:28
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's yeah. All the good stuff is in Canada,
• 6:31
Speaker 1: believe me. That's why. That's another component of my ability
• 6:33
Speaker 1: to stay here. So you're you're combining two things, people
• 6:36
Speaker 1: who like to party and people who are nice. So
• 6:38
  Speaker 1: it's a jackpot situation.
• 6:40
Speaker 2: And there's like often snow, Yeah, there's often snow.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: I just saw a picture of you. Here's something that
• 6:45
Speaker 1: I'm not looking forward to ever happening in my life,
• 6:47
Speaker 1: So let's focus it about it happening in yours. I
• 6:50
Speaker 1: saw a picture of you and your new Newish lover.
• 6:52
Speaker 1: You've had a boyfriend for about a year, right.
• 6:55
Speaker 2: Yes, Yeah, I met someone fantastic, which was so fun
• 6:59
  Speaker 2: and so expected.
• 7:01
Speaker 1: I love that. I love what everyone every woman always
• 7:04
Speaker 1: says whenever we meet someone, we're like, it was so
• 7:06
Speaker 1: unexpected because we're so not expecting to ever meet anyone
• 7:11
Speaker 1: that we would fall in love with totally.
• 7:14
Speaker 2: And I had I kind of just started to try,
• 7:17
  Speaker 2: like I and I was like, I think I'm ready
• 7:18
Speaker 2: to meet someone. I said to my friends, like set
• 7:20
Speaker 2: me up with someone. And I would just be on
• 7:24
Speaker 2: dates and be like is this I had no frame
• 7:25
Speaker 2: of reference. I'd been twenty years. I'm like, is this
• 7:27
Speaker 2: what it's supposed to feel?
• 7:30
  Speaker 4: Like?
• 7:30
Speaker 2: This can't be right. And then I met my boyfriend
• 7:32
Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, oh, this is what its
• 7:34
Speaker 2: supposed to feel like.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: How did you guys meet? Do you mind my asking?
• 7:39
Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I got set up by my two best
• 7:43
Speaker 2: friends they're both named Jen and my gen's were like,
• 7:46
Speaker 2: you're doing a terrible job of this, so we're going
• 7:48
Speaker 2: to take this into our hands now. Like they were like,
• 7:51
Speaker 2: you just have to try, like energetically, you got to
• 7:53
Speaker 2: put yourself out there just go on the apps, and
• 7:55
Speaker 2: I was like, I don't want to go on the apps.
• 7:56
Speaker 2: That's way too terrifying, And so I had a small
• 8:00
Speaker 2: didn't trying on apps, didn't go on one day from them,
• 8:02
Speaker 2: but just like I'm not, as you can see, super
• 8:04
Speaker 2: technologically inclined, so I would get on the app and
• 8:07
Speaker 2: Bumble has this feature that is like a privacy one
• 8:11
Speaker 2: where nobody sees that you're on the app unless you
• 8:13
Speaker 2: swipe on them. So I was like, okay, that feels
• 8:15
Speaker 2: kind of like a nice, gentle, easy way to start.
• 8:18
Speaker 2: I'll just do that. And when you buy that feature,
• 8:21
Speaker 2: you get a couple of other features, one of which
• 8:23
Speaker 2: is called a super swipe.
• 8:24
Speaker 1: Have you heard of the superstich in deduce what that
• 8:27
Speaker 1: might mean? But why don't you spell it out for us?
• 8:30
Speaker 2: Well, I don't even know, Like I guess if when
• 8:32
  Speaker 2: a swipe just won't suffice and you're just like, I
• 8:34
Speaker 2: got a super swipe on this person, right. Unfortunately, a
• 8:38
Speaker 2: super swipe you don't actually have to swipe, just where
• 8:40
Speaker 2: your thumb naturally rests on the bottom corner of the phone.
• 8:44
Speaker 2: You just hit it by accident, and it's like you've
• 8:47
Speaker 2: just super swiped on John, and you're like, what did
• 8:49
Speaker 2: I just do? And so then you've told this random
• 8:53
Speaker 2: stranger that like a swipe just wasn't enough and you
• 8:56
Speaker 2: wanted to super swipe. And so I'm like, this is
• 8:58
Speaker 2: my first time logging on. I'm googling like how do
• 9:01
Speaker 2: you get rid of the super swipe? And you can't?
• 9:04
Speaker 2: And I find this like long spread on Reddit that
• 9:06
Speaker 2: was like the only way to get rid of a
• 9:08
Speaker 2: super swipe is just like delete the whole account. So
• 9:11
Speaker 2: then I just deleted the whole thing. And I was like,
• 9:13
Speaker 2: I'm not meant to do this, and so the geens
• 9:16
Speaker 2: were like, Okay, we're gonna take this into our hands,
• 9:18
Speaker 2: and so they called someone they know on the East
• 9:20
Speaker 2: coast and they were like, do you know anyone on
• 9:22
Speaker 2: the West coast who is our age? Who wants to
• 9:25
Speaker 2: date someone who is our age and who's great? And
• 9:29
Speaker 2: then we met and I had kind of like thought
• 9:31
Speaker 2: about it, and I was like, I know that you
• 9:33
Speaker 2: can't ask for everything, so what would be like? I mean,
• 9:38
Speaker 2: turns out you can. I feel like this person actually
• 9:40
Speaker 2: does have everything, but I didn't know that. So I
• 9:43
Speaker 2: was like, I feel like the thing that's like the
• 9:46
Speaker 2: most important to me, is I want someone adventuress. I
• 9:48
Speaker 2: want someone who's up for it and wants to do
• 9:50
Speaker 2: shit with me and wants to like have adventures. And
• 9:54
Speaker 2: I like way overshot that manifest because he is so
• 9:57
Speaker 2: much more adventurous than I. Like, we'll go to do something.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: He's like, okay, so we'll also bring like the avalanche
• 10:04
Speaker 2: beacons on, like totally totally. It's like my comfort zones
• 10:08
Speaker 2: here and I'm like, right right, right, right right, which
• 10:12
Speaker 2: is great. I mean that's how it should be.
• 10:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, And that's so fun though, Like that is
• 10:17
Speaker 1: such I mean, that's a total necessary thing for me too.
• 10:19
Speaker 1: Like I'm all about adventure and it can be any story.
• 10:22
Speaker 1: It doesn't even have to be outdoorsy. It just has
• 10:24
Speaker 1: to be adventure us in spirit, you know what I mean.
• 10:26
Speaker 1: I love to travel. I want somebody who wants to
• 10:29
Speaker 1: bounce around the world. I want somebody who can afford
• 10:31
Speaker 1: to bounce around the world. So I'm not bouncing them
• 10:33
Speaker 1: around the world, you know what I mean. I want
• 10:36
Speaker 1: someone who's got their shit together enough to be able
• 10:39
Speaker 1: to be like meet the moment. So it is like
• 10:41
Speaker 1: it's it's amazing that you think you can't ask for everything,
• 10:44
Speaker 1: but why can't you? We can always ask for everything.
• 10:47
Speaker 1: It doesn't mean you're gonna get everything, but it sounds
• 10:49
Speaker 1: like you've gotten a lot and more than you ask
• 10:52
Speaker 1: for except for this fishing. Why do you like fishing?
• 10:57
Speaker 2: Okay? I actually so, my son got me into fishing.
• 11:00
Speaker 2: I mean, do I like fishing?
• 11:03
Speaker 1: There's the answer right there. I mean, I think you
• 11:05
Speaker 1: gave us the answer.
• 11:07
Speaker 2: The answer, And there's a lot of like I get
• 11:10
Speaker 2: really motion sickness in I give ocean sick in boats.
• 11:13
Speaker 2: And so if it's like fishing, you're not moving in
• 11:15
Speaker 2: the boat, you're just sitting. So then you're riding the
• 11:18
Speaker 2: waves and like a calm it's much worse. If it's
• 11:22
Speaker 2: a calm day, I'm okay, but otherwise it's hard. I like,
• 11:27
Speaker 2: I like the excitement of the moment where you catch
• 11:29
Speaker 2: a fish. That's like very exciting, but obviously there's hours
• 11:32
Speaker 2: where you're often not catching. But I like the snacks,
• 11:36
Speaker 2: I like the hanging out. There's like all these fishing
• 11:38
Speaker 2: rituals and superstitions, Like you know, if there's a certain
• 11:42
Speaker 2: song playing when you catch, then you have to keep
• 11:46
Speaker 2: playing that song. So I've been in a boat with
• 11:48
Speaker 2: my son where we have to play can I Kick
• 11:49
Speaker 2: It by Tribe call Quest for four hours straight? Because
• 11:52
Speaker 2: that's you know, the last song that there was a
• 11:55
Speaker 2: fish cut. It's meditative. There's definitely meditative aspect to it.
• 11:59
Speaker 2: There's like I feel like it teaches patience and.
• 12:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, a little too much patience for my I need
• 12:08
Speaker 1: more patience. But that's like beyond my I can't even
• 12:11
  Speaker 1: with fish. I just can't.
• 12:13
  Speaker 2: I mean I do want to. I don't want to
• 12:14
Speaker 2: oversell myself as a fish like old fish often, like
• 12:17
Speaker 2: I probably go fishing once a year.
• 12:18
Speaker 1: Well, what's so funny is that the picture that I
• 12:21
Speaker 1: was looking at when I was like looking at our
• 12:22
Speaker 1: notes for you, I was looking at this picture of
• 12:24
Speaker 1: this guy you standing there with a fish, and I'm like,
• 12:26
Speaker 1: that's so funny because if you took your head out
• 12:28
Speaker 1: of there, this would be a guy's dating app picture.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: Like you know when you go on these half of
• 12:33
Speaker 1: them are holding fucking giant bass and you're like, wait,
• 12:35
Speaker 1: what are you trying to attract like another fisher woman,
• 12:38
Speaker 1: because good luck with that. There's not many of us
• 12:40
Speaker 1: out there. It's like, unless you're in the Arctic Circle,
• 12:44
  Speaker 1: maybe I don't know who's into that.
• 12:46
  Speaker 2: You know, there's always a fish or there's obviously a
• 12:51
Speaker 2: puppy who's usually not theirs with the dog, there's a
• 12:55
Speaker 2: borrowed puppy from a neighbor.
• 12:57
Speaker 3: It's like the picture with their ex cropped out, like
• 13:00
Speaker 3: you can see just like a shoulder.
• 13:01
  Speaker 1: I know, I love that.
• 13:02
Speaker 2: That is so funny, and maybe they're going like this,
• 13:05
Speaker 2: like I've seen pictures.
• 13:07
Speaker 1: I've seen pictures of myself on people's dating sites, like
• 13:11
Speaker 1: I like random people that I don't know that have
• 13:14
Speaker 1: had a picture with me. I've seen once, like a
• 13:16
Speaker 1: mar Greade photo like something like that where somebody asked
• 13:19
Speaker 1: me for and then they put it on their dating probom.
• 13:21
Speaker 2: We're definitely not clicking on them anyway.
• 13:27
Speaker 1: Sarah. Let's talk about what you're here promoting, because your
• 13:29
Speaker 1: guys are doing a reboot of Scrubs. Tell us about it.
• 13:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been so fun, it feels so lucky and
• 13:37
Speaker 2: so crazy. I mean, it was my favorite job and
• 13:39
Speaker 2: we did it twenty five years ago, and.
• 13:40
Speaker 1: I got twenty five years ago.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty five years ago, got.
• 13:44
Speaker 1: It and really just remake anything at any time. That's amazing.
• 13:47
Speaker 2: You can't like, and we always thought like that would
• 13:50
Speaker 2: be really fun. Over the last decade, we've talked about
• 13:53
Speaker 2: it a bit, but I don't think any of us
• 13:54
Speaker 2: thought that it was going to come back and we
• 13:55
Speaker 2: were going to do it in this way as a
• 13:57
Speaker 2: show again on primetime on ABC talked about like, oh,
• 14:00
Speaker 2: if everybody's schedules collide, it'll be like kind of like
• 14:03
Speaker 2: psych did they did like a movie, And so when
• 14:06
Speaker 2: we started talking about doing it like this, it was
• 14:09
Speaker 2: so fun. Obviously, the hospital we shot in was this
• 14:11
Speaker 2: like old abandoned hospital in the valley's been torn down,
• 14:15
Speaker 2: and so they rebuilt the sets and we thought like, oh,
• 14:18
Speaker 2: they'll build it like it'll look kind of like the
• 14:20
Speaker 2: old ones. They built it exactly the same. So it
• 14:23
Speaker 2: was such a trip, Like I spent my twenties in
• 14:26
Speaker 2: that ICU and that cafeteria, and the first day like
• 14:28
Speaker 2: stepping back on to these sets that were built so
• 14:32
Speaker 2: beautifully and exactly the same, it was like it was
• 14:34
Speaker 2: just such a trip. I felt like a step back
• 14:38
Speaker 2: in time, Like the same people and the same character
• 14:40
Speaker 2: in the same right and in the same sets.
• 14:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a total retu narse, Like how fun
• 14:46
Speaker 1: to get everyone back together again.
• 14:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been so fun and we all like we
• 14:50
Speaker 2: all loved each other and we still hung out and
• 14:52
Speaker 2: went on ski trips and went for dinners and since
• 14:54
Speaker 2: the show ended, and so you know, to kind of
• 14:58
Speaker 2: go back to that dynamic on a set like we
• 15:02
Speaker 2: I think you can, like you can hope when you
• 15:04
Speaker 2: start on a new job that you'll all have chemistry,
• 15:06
Speaker 2: but I think you can't manufacture is history. And we
• 15:09
Speaker 2: actually have twenty five years all together. And then they
• 15:12
Speaker 2: brought in five new kids. They're not I mean, they're
• 15:15
Speaker 2: not kids. We call them Donald Zach and I call
• 15:17
Speaker 2: them our kids, not children, but we call them our kids.
• 15:19
Speaker 2: There are there are kids there are you know, between
• 15:21
Speaker 2: twenty five and thirty five years old, and they're like
• 15:24
Speaker 2: so fucking funny and such good people. And so that's
• 15:27
Speaker 2: been like a whole new addition to the dynamic. And
• 15:31
Speaker 2: we had we shot up in Vancouver, which was so
• 15:34
Speaker 2: insanely lucky, and we had Saturday night dinners every week
• 15:38
Speaker 2: with the whole cast and it was super great. I mean,
• 15:41
Speaker 2: to do a comedy, there's nothing like it being on
• 15:44
Speaker 2: a comedy set. Like I love doing all the different things.
• 15:47
Speaker 2: But there's something so specifically great about being on a
• 15:50
Speaker 2: comedy set that's just like not replicable.
• 15:52
Speaker 1: Well, that's how you started out on Roseanne, right, and
• 15:55
Speaker 1: that was your first big show and that was how
• 15:57
Speaker 1: many years of your life?
• 15:59
Speaker 2: That was four? So I joined in season six?
• 16:02
Speaker 1: Oh right, right right? You kind of replaced the other sister, right, Okay.
• 16:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, Becky she went away to college, so I replaced her.
• 16:08
Speaker 2: So when I joined, I was I was sixteen years
• 16:10
Speaker 2: old when I auditioned, and she had left to go
• 16:12
Speaker 2: to college. And so I got this audition. I like
• 16:15
Speaker 2: put myself on tape and like put a VHS tape
• 16:18
Speaker 2: in the mail and it was for this like new
• 16:21
Speaker 2: series filming in nineteen ninety four, and they didn't want
• 16:24
Speaker 2: to say what it was. And then you know, you
• 16:26
Speaker 2: get a call back and then another callback, and finally
• 16:28
Speaker 2: they said what it was for, and they're like, we're
• 16:29
Speaker 2: going to fly you down. And the whole audition was
• 16:31
Speaker 2: making out with Glenn Quinn, who played Mark, who was
• 16:34
Speaker 2: irish and gorgeous in eight years older than me, And
• 16:37
Speaker 2: I was like, how am I going to remember anything
• 16:39
Speaker 2: that I'm supposed to talk about?
• 16:41
  Speaker 1: Sixteen year old?
• 16:42
Speaker 2: You were doing sixteen.
• 16:43
Speaker 1: I was taking out with him for hours.
• 16:45
Speaker 2: The whole the whole it was. The audition was like
• 16:47
Speaker 2: probably twenty minutes. And because we did it a few times,
• 16:50
Speaker 2: they had it on the set. They wanted to put
• 16:52
Speaker 2: in all the factors to see if you could keep
• 16:55
Speaker 2: your focus. So they had four cameras and they were
• 16:57
Speaker 2: calling out camera numbers. They had a laugh track. They
• 17:00
Speaker 2: had like someone directing it, Gail Mancuso, who's now one
• 17:03
Speaker 2: of our main scrubs directors.
• 17:05
Speaker 1: Oh, she's the best. I've worked with her before. She's
• 17:08
  Speaker 1: so she's a legend.
• 17:09
Speaker 2: She's legend, so cool, she's a legend. She and she
• 17:11
Speaker 2: directed you know, a ton of our og scrubs and
• 17:14
Speaker 2: came back this last season to direct more scrubs. And
• 17:16
Speaker 2: she's the one that gave me my first job, you know,
• 17:19
Speaker 2: one hundred years ago. So I'm doing the scene with
• 17:22
Speaker 2: Glenn and the whole scene is like baby, baby Camure,
• 17:24
Speaker 2: and I'm like, get a job at the gas station.
• 17:26
Speaker 2: She's like baby Camure. I'm like, get a job at
• 17:27
Speaker 2: the gas station. And we're just making out. And that's
• 17:29
Speaker 2: like the audition, and then they were like we'll tell
• 17:32
Speaker 2: you in seven days. And then the night before they
• 17:34
Speaker 2: were going to tell us, they said, okay, it's down
• 17:35
Speaker 2: to four of you. Now come back an audition with Roseanne,
• 17:38
Speaker 2: and so I did. And the audition was like on
• 17:40
Speaker 2: the couch and then you have to make.
• 17:42
Speaker 1: Rone You're like, all right, this is very much.
• 17:44
Speaker 2: This takes a turn. This. I was not signing up
• 17:48
Speaker 2: for this books Google. And she was like how old
• 17:51
Speaker 2: are you? And I was like, I'm sixteen and all
• 17:53
Speaker 2: the other girls were twenty one and she was like, no,
• 17:56
Speaker 2: how old are you really? And I was like the
• 17:58
Speaker 2: idea of lying about my age would never have occurred
• 18:01
Speaker 2: to me. I was like, I'm sixteen. And they were
• 18:03
Speaker 2: worried that, you know, because Sarah and Licy had both
• 18:05
Speaker 2: left to go to college, that I would also since
• 18:08
Speaker 2: I was the youngest girl auditioning, that I would do that.
• 18:10
Speaker 2: So Tom Arnold called me at my house after the
• 18:12
Speaker 2: audition and he's like, so college, Like what do you
• 18:14
Speaker 2: think about? What do you think about college? And I
• 18:16
Speaker 2: was like no, no college, no, thank you, gross, none
• 18:18
Speaker 2: for me. And even though I knew I would go eventually,
• 18:20
Speaker 2: I wasn't going to do it then. I could do
• 18:22
Speaker 2: it later. And so I found out that I had
• 18:25
Speaker 2: the job, and then the craziest thing happened. I went
• 18:30
Speaker 2: to a party that night and I told a couple
• 18:33
Speaker 2: people it sounded like the weirdest lie because it's a
• 18:37
Speaker 2: time when it was like nine shows on television, and
• 18:40
Speaker 2: you know, it was the number one show at the time,
• 18:42
Speaker 2: and it was like saying, I'm going to go be
• 18:44
Speaker 2: on that show and play that person. I mean, it
• 18:46
Speaker 2: made no sense. And then it spread around our high school.
• 18:49
Speaker 2: And then on Monday morning, I get a call from
• 18:53
Speaker 2: the Roseanne Show and they're like, we're having cold feet
• 18:55
Speaker 2: about doing this. We don't know if we're going to
• 18:57
Speaker 2: do it. If we do it, it'll be you, but
• 18:58
Speaker 2: we're going to put you on hold for for months.
• 19:01
Speaker 2: And I thought, oh my god, my ass is grass
• 19:04
Speaker 2: at high school. If this doesn't happen, I'm forever going
• 19:07
Speaker 2: to be like the weirdo who lied about going to
• 19:09
Speaker 2: be Becky on the Rosan Show.
• 19:11
Speaker 1: That is so funny. I actually did that for real.
• 19:13
Speaker 1: When I was in elementary school, I lied to my
• 19:15
Speaker 1: whole class in order to gain some more respect from
• 19:18
Speaker 1: my peers because I didn't feel like they respected me enough,
• 19:21
Speaker 1: and I told them that I was going to be
• 19:22
Speaker 1: in this sequel to Private Benjamin, playing Goldie Han's daughter
• 19:25
Speaker 1: as her daughter. I wrote about this in my very
• 19:28
Speaker 1: first book, and I was like telling people. I was like, oh, yeah,
• 19:30
Speaker 1: I had a screen test with Goldie Han. We have
• 19:32
Speaker 1: so much chemistry. I was like, you guys better start
• 19:34
Speaker 1: respecting me now because I'm going to be famous and
• 19:35
Speaker 1: then you're gonna regret that you weren't nice to me.
• 19:38
Speaker 1: And it went all around school and everyone's coming up
• 19:40
Speaker 1: to me asking me all sorts of questions, and then like, obviously,
• 19:43
Speaker 1: nothing ever happened. So I just had to keep like postponing,
• 19:46
Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, it's going to be a summer shoot.
• 19:48
Speaker 1: I had all the lingo down, and then finally I
• 19:50
Speaker 1: was like, oh, they decided to go in a different direction. Meanwhile,
• 19:53
Speaker 1: there was no fucking sequel to Private Benjamin. So eventually
• 19:56
Speaker 1: I just eventually I just had to transfer schools. I
• 19:59
Speaker 1: was like, this is dude emiliating.
• 20:04
Speaker 2: So we had we had a girl in our grade
• 20:05
Speaker 2: do that too. She lied about being part of the
• 20:07
Speaker 2: Mini Pops. I don't know if you've ever heard about
• 20:09
Speaker 2: the Mini Pops. The Minipops were this like kids cover
• 20:13
Speaker 2: band in Canada that were so fucking cool. It was
• 20:16
Speaker 2: like everybody wanted to be a mini pop. They would
• 20:18
Speaker 2: release records that were just covers of like awesome eighties songs.
• 20:22
Speaker 2: And so this girl came to school one day and
• 20:24
Speaker 2: she was like, I'm going to be a mini pop
• 20:27
Speaker 2: and we couldn't believe it. We were floored. It was
• 20:31
Speaker 2: the most exciting thing. And then she wasn't like it
• 20:34
Speaker 2: wasn't true. And I just remember when this whole Becky
• 20:38
Speaker 2: thing happened. I was like, I'm going to be exactly
• 20:40
  Speaker 2: like the minipops.
• 20:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, girl, how is Tom Arnold?
• 20:45
  Speaker 2: Oh my god?
• 20:46
  Speaker 1: He was.
• 20:47
Speaker 2: He was great to me. He was very I think
• 20:49
Speaker 2: ever since that kind of phone call, like he was
• 20:52
Speaker 2: always really supportive of me.
• 20:53
Speaker 1: Oh, sorry, I didn't mean Tom Arnold. I met the
• 20:56
Speaker 1: father that played the John Goodman. Sorry. I didn't mean
• 20:59
Speaker 1: to ask about Tom Arnolds. Who cares. I mean, I
• 21:02
Speaker 1: know Tom Arnold, I don't need YadA. Yeah, I want
• 21:04
Speaker 1: to know about the dad because he seemed awesome.
• 21:07
Speaker 2: He was, I mean, that was like crazy. He was
• 21:10
Speaker 2: one of my idols at the time, obviously, and like
• 21:13
Speaker 2: now I was working with him in my dressing room,
• 21:14
Speaker 2: was right beside him and I was. I mean, I
• 21:17
Speaker 2: had no business being there. I had literally never worked
• 21:20
Speaker 2: except for on a couple of Canadian productions where I
• 21:22
Speaker 2: would like answer the phone in a movie and be
• 21:24
Speaker 2: like mom phone. And that was like the totality of
• 21:27
Speaker 2: my body of work before having gone onto that set.
• 21:30
Speaker 2: And then it was like John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sarah Gilbert,
• 21:35
Speaker 2: Johnny Gallechi, Sandra Bernhardt, Fred Willard, like the craziest group.
• 21:40
Speaker 2: ID just sit there and watch. But John Goodman was
• 21:44
Speaker 2: so kind, like he was he went out of his
• 21:47
Speaker 2: way to kind of like make me feel okay, you know,
• 21:51
Speaker 2: like he'd be like, hey, kid, how you doing, And
• 21:53
Speaker 2: he didn't do that. And then obviously just to like
• 21:56
Speaker 2: watch him work and what he would do with a
• 21:57
Speaker 2: script from the Monday morning table read till the Thursday
• 22:01
Speaker 2: night tape night and try different things, and I would
• 22:03
Speaker 2: just kind of watch him and he's one of the
• 22:09
Speaker 2: most Yeah, he's just so talented.
• 22:11
Speaker 1: So that was a great preparation for you for Scrubs, right,
• 22:14
Speaker 1: I mean, that was kind of like college for Scrubs.
• 22:17
Speaker 2: It was. It was college for Scrubs, but it's like
• 22:19
Speaker 2: such a different experience, Like I feel like on Roseanne.
• 22:22
Speaker 2: I was so young and so new and so and
• 22:26
  Speaker 2: it's different, such a different experience. I hadn't even really
• 22:28
Speaker 2: pre thought of replacing a character, and you're trying to
• 22:30
Speaker 2: like fit into that mold, and luckily I was kind
• 22:35
Speaker 2: of young and naive and didn't really understand it, Like
• 22:37
Speaker 2: I didn't really think about the expectations maybe that would
• 22:41
Speaker 2: be put on, like filling those shoes. But then in Scrubs,
• 22:47
Speaker 2: it was when it felt like it was my first
• 22:50
Speaker 2: experience of like it feeling so creative because I got
• 22:53
Speaker 2: to really create the character. Like Bill had written this
• 22:57
Speaker 2: character that was I read it and I was like, fuck,
• 22:59
Speaker 2: this is so good. I want to be a part
• 23:00
Speaker 2: of this so badly. The character description said moves and
• 23:04
Speaker 2: talks at a faster pace than normal humans, and that
• 23:07
Speaker 2: was something that I'd always struggled with, like everyone's always
• 23:10
Speaker 2: like slow down in life in space to me too,
• 23:13
Speaker 2: me too, and it's hard. You just want to We're busy,
• 23:17
Speaker 2: we got to get we got to get all the
• 23:18
Speaker 2: information out, and so I thought, Okay, this is like
• 23:21
Speaker 2: my part, and then Bill ended up like tailoring our
• 23:26
Speaker 2: parts and adding all of our own quirks and selves,
• 23:30
Speaker 2: like Elliott wasn't written as a disaster who fell and
• 23:33
Speaker 2: hurt herself all the time. And then that was just
• 23:35
Speaker 2: woven in very early on when they realized that I
• 23:38
Speaker 2: still had not figured out where my body was in space.
• 23:41
Speaker 2: But that felt like the comedy masterclass, like getting to
• 23:43
Speaker 2: work with Bill. He would come to set every rehearsal,
• 23:48
Speaker 2: which is super rare from my experience, like I've never
• 23:50
Speaker 2: had that happen where the showrunner comes every single rehearsal
• 23:53
Speaker 2: and comes up and goes like, Okay, you know, try
• 23:56
Speaker 2: this differently, try these two alts instead of that joke.
• 23:59
Speaker 2: See which one you know works the best. He was
• 24:01
Speaker 2: super collaborative and gave us so much freedom that is,
• 24:05
Speaker 2: you know, we'd get it once exactly as written, and
• 24:07
Speaker 2: then he'd be like, oh, if this line says I
• 24:10
Speaker 2: told you so, if you want, you can just do
• 24:11
Speaker 2: like and I told you so song and dance instead
• 24:14
Speaker 2: if you feel like it. And so I feel like
• 24:17
Speaker 2: I got to learn like so much about comedy just
• 24:21
Speaker 2: from watching him work and how he would take a
• 24:24
Speaker 2: scene and if it wasn't working, he'd be like, Okay,
• 24:26
Speaker 2: let's try this, try that, try that. It was so
• 24:28
Speaker 2: lucky and so fun, and because we were shooting in
• 24:31
Speaker 2: this like abandoned hospital in the valley, we felt kind
• 24:35
Speaker 2: of removed from everything, and so it created this interesting
• 24:37
Speaker 2: dynamic of feeling like a very collaborative space, and there
• 24:43
Speaker 2: was also like a real I think my favorite part
• 24:46
Speaker 2: about it was there was a real feeling that you
• 24:50
Speaker 2: could fail, like just try anything, which obviously in comedy
• 24:53
Speaker 2: I think that's the only way it can really work
• 24:55
Speaker 2: if you're not thinking about what you look like while
• 24:58
Speaker 2: you're doing it, what you just like any of the
• 25:00
Speaker 2: their factors. Just try it. If it doesn't work, they
• 25:02
Speaker 2: won't use it. And so we really were freed up
• 25:04
  Speaker 2: to try anything.
• 25:05
Speaker 1: That's awesome. I love to hear that. That's so like
• 25:08
Speaker 1: creatively fulfilling. I mean, you know, to just to be
• 25:11
Speaker 1: able to spread your wings and fly and have somebody
• 25:14
Speaker 1: just show you. Because that show was original and it's
• 25:16
Speaker 1: it's like it had it used devices that we hadn't
• 25:19
Speaker 1: seen before on those kinds of shows.
• 25:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, it did, And I remember thinking that when I
• 25:24
Speaker 2: read the script, like I I was like, oh, I
• 25:26
Speaker 2: haven't seen anything like this. And I had just moved
• 25:30
Speaker 2: to LA with my best friend and we didn't know anybody,
• 25:33
Speaker 2: and we never had was it one of the gems?
• 25:35
Speaker 2: It was one of the gems. It was one of
• 25:38
Speaker 2: the gens. She'd gone to film school at UBC and
• 25:40
Speaker 2: Vancouver and wanted to produce, and I wanted to act,
• 25:42
Speaker 2: and so we packed up her truck with the most
• 25:46
Speaker 2: random shit. It was like Steve Martin and the jerk
• 25:48
Speaker 2: when he's like, I just need this mug and this thing.
• 25:50
Speaker 2: Like we had, like I packed a guitar that I
• 25:52
Speaker 2: didn't know how to play, and we were going to
• 25:54
Speaker 2: go for like a six month sublet, and then I
• 25:57
Speaker 2: stayed seventeen years. But you know, Jen and I had
• 26:00
Speaker 2: plans to go to a concert and I got two
• 26:04
Speaker 2: auditions for the next day. And normally I would just
• 26:06
Speaker 2: be like, Okay, I've got to work on these auditions.
• 26:08
Speaker 2: I was like, I'm not cancling on Jen, We're going
• 26:10
Speaker 2: to the concert. I don't care. And I come home
• 26:12
Speaker 2: to this envelope, these two envelopes for these two auditions,
• 26:16
Speaker 2: and it's midnight and my audition for scrubs is at
• 26:18
Speaker 2: nine AM. And I open it and I start reading
• 26:20
Speaker 2: it and I'm like turning the pages and I'm like,
• 26:23
Speaker 2: oh fuck, oh, this is so good shit. I like,
• 26:27
Speaker 2: now it's the auditions happening in like eight hours and
• 26:29
Speaker 2: fifty nine minutes. And I never opened the other envelope.
• 26:34
Speaker 2: I have no idea what that audition was. And I
• 26:36
Speaker 2: just worked for a couple of hours and then got
• 26:38
Speaker 2: some sleep and went and read for casting, and they
• 26:40
Speaker 2: were like, can you come back in a few hours
• 26:42
Speaker 2: and read for Bill? But yeah, I remember reading the
• 26:45
Speaker 2: script thinking like, oh, this is so different and like
• 26:48
Speaker 2: you said, using devices we hadn't seen. And I loved
• 26:50
Speaker 2: the pace of it. And I laughed out loud reading
• 26:54
Speaker 2: the script, which was so rare, and.
• 26:56
Speaker 1: I love it. I love that. I love that you
• 26:58
Speaker 1: get to I mean, like, who would have ever thought
• 27:00
Speaker 1: like all of these shows and all of these successful
• 27:02
Speaker 1: series would be rebooted. Like if someone told you when
• 27:05
Speaker 1: you were doing it the first time, you're going to
• 27:06
Speaker 1: be doing this again twenty five years later, nobody would
• 27:09
Speaker 1: be like, I'm not even going to be alive, then
• 27:11
  Speaker 1: there's no.
• 27:11
Speaker 2: Chance, totally totally. Who's fifty? Like that sound like what? Yeah?
• 27:18
Speaker 1: Exactly? What about Okay, let's talk about being fifty. Let's
• 27:21
Speaker 1: talk about like that age, because it's not what I
• 27:24
Speaker 1: expected at all. It's like so much better. It's so
• 27:26
Speaker 1: much like you know, I feel so much younger than
• 27:28
Speaker 1: I ever thought I would feel. I feel younger than
• 27:30
Speaker 1: I felt when I was in my thirties. But let's
• 27:32
Speaker 1: talk about advice that you've been given, good or bad,
• 27:35
Speaker 1: that has had an impact on your life.
• 27:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, first of all, I completely agree with you. Like,
• 27:39
Speaker 2: I'm turning fifty this coming August, and I mean, if
• 27:44
Speaker 2: you were to say, like, how old do you like,
• 27:45
Speaker 2: I feel like I my brain stopped at like thirty three,
• 27:48
Speaker 2: I think is the age that I always think I am.
• 27:50
Speaker 2: And Yeah, to have had this lucky career I'm very
• 27:55
Speaker 2: grateful for because it has allowed me to be able
• 27:58
Speaker 2: to raise my kids. You know, like when you're when
• 28:01
Speaker 2: you're working, you're working hard, but then you have these
• 28:03
Speaker 2: chunks of time where you're off and you can be
• 28:05
Speaker 2: totally present and do that. In terms of advice that
• 28:09
Speaker 2: I've been given that's been good.
• 28:11
Speaker 1: Or bad or bad, we like bad advice too.
• 28:13
Speaker 2: We like bad advice. Okay, I'll start with good. My
• 28:15
Speaker 2: dad's favorite expression was the best time to plant apple
• 28:18
Speaker 2: orchard was twenty five years ago. The second best time
• 28:20
Speaker 2: is today. And I feel like that he told us
• 28:25
Speaker 2: when we were little. I think about it often because
• 28:28
Speaker 2: it's like anytime I'm like, okay, it's too late, Like
• 28:31
Speaker 2: I think through your whole life, you always feel like,
• 28:33
Speaker 2: oh fuck, is it too late? Is it too late
• 28:34
Speaker 2: to do this? And it's like never too late, Like
• 28:37
Speaker 2: it's actually never too late, Like I wonder.
• 28:38
Speaker 1: We just had this conversation, me and three girlfriends. We
• 28:40
Speaker 1: were just talking about this and like the idea of ascension,
• 28:44
Speaker 1: like we are always ascending. Like just because something hasn't
• 28:47
Speaker 1: happened yet doesn't mean it's going to happen. It's not
• 28:49
Speaker 1: going to happen because of your age. Your age is
• 28:51
Speaker 1: not preventative of what your desires are. It's actually an enhancement.
• 28:57
Speaker 1: It makes it more likely to happen because it's still
• 28:59
Speaker 1: on your mind. And like, oh I was gonna do that,
• 29:02
Speaker 1: and I didn't do it before I turned fifty. That
• 29:04
Speaker 1: means it's gonna be even better when you do do
• 29:06
Speaker 1: it after fifty, not that it's not happening.
• 29:08
Speaker 2: One hundred percent. And exactly when you do it, you're
• 29:11
Speaker 2: like really gonna do it, and you're gonna do it
• 29:12
Speaker 2: at a time in your life that you're ready to
• 29:13
Speaker 2: do it. Like I was like, I want to learn
• 29:15
Speaker 2: how to play an instrument. I'm like it too late,
• 29:16
Speaker 2: and I was like, no, it's not too late.
• 29:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not exactly. We were just talking about this
• 29:20
Speaker 1: and I was like, got you know, oh, if I
• 29:22
Speaker 1: don't do this by that time I'm thirty or the
• 29:24
Speaker 1: time I'm forty, and that's like such backwards thinking. It's like, oh,
• 29:26
Speaker 1: this now that I'm this experience, this much wiser and
• 29:29
Speaker 1: I'm this much smarter, I'm not going to even fuck
• 29:31
Speaker 1: this up when it does happen, you know, Like I'm tuned.
• 29:35
Speaker 2: In now totally. And I feel like even with like skiing,
• 29:40
Speaker 2: you know, like I was like the other day, I
• 29:41
Speaker 2: was like I want to go take some more lessons
• 29:44
Speaker 2: and kind of like bring my skiing to the next stage,
• 29:48
Speaker 2: because like I grew up skiing my first job, I
• 29:50
Speaker 2: was a ski instructor, and then I took My kids
• 29:52
Speaker 2: are six years apart, so I feel like I spent like,
• 29:55
Speaker 2: you know, they were in between my skis when they
• 29:56
Speaker 2: were one and a half and then on the harness
• 29:59
Speaker 2: and then kind of like everyone else is going off
• 30:01
Speaker 2: and doing the real runs and you're like on the
• 30:02
Speaker 2: little ones for and then I had another kid and
• 30:04
Speaker 2: they did, so I feel like I took such a
• 30:06
Speaker 2: long chunk off of like really skiing, and when I
• 30:09
Speaker 2: went back to it, I was like, oh, I feel
• 30:10
Speaker 2: like I'm skiing with the technique of like the old
• 30:13
Speaker 2: equipment and the old technology and those skis that weren't
• 30:16
Speaker 2: shaped and so right.
• 30:17
Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I get that.
• 30:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, I just feel like having like a just in
• 30:21
Speaker 2: general open mind to like it's never too late, it's
• 30:25
Speaker 2: never too late to try anything. I feel like in
• 30:29
Speaker 2: so many aspects of my life, I feel like things
• 30:31
Speaker 2: are just the best they've been or taking off, Like
• 30:35
Speaker 2: in the relationship that I'm in has been so fun
• 30:38
Speaker 2: and so fulfilling and so interesting to you know, have
• 30:41
Speaker 2: so much in common and so like, Yeah, I feel
• 30:44
Speaker 2: like in all aspects it feels like fifty is amazing.
• 30:47
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like you're peaking. But I don't even believe
• 30:50
Speaker 1: in peaking either, because we're ascending. That's what we're calling it.
• 30:53
Speaker 1: We're ascending until we die. We are in a sense,
• 30:56
Speaker 1: and what that means we just keep getting better and
• 30:58
Speaker 1: better and better, Like it is a ref fine, beautiful thing.
• 31:01
Speaker 1: Like I am totally down with that. I can't believe
• 31:03
Speaker 1: the garbage we've been listening to our whole lives or
• 31:06
Speaker 1: are absorbing just kind of this narrative that's just not true. Anyway,
• 31:11
Speaker 1: Let's move on to callers before we run out of time. Catherine, Sorry,
• 31:14
Speaker 1: we got caught up in this level conversation.
• 31:16
Speaker 2: I'm going to think of that about a sension that's
• 31:18
  Speaker 2: gonna be nice.
• 31:18
Speaker 1: Yes, please, yes, do it. Let's spread spread that messaging.
• 31:22
Speaker 1: Women need to hear this.
• 31:27
  Speaker 2: Well.
• 31:27
Speaker 3: Our first caller today is l And this is not
• 31:31
Speaker 3: a question about baseball. It's a question about struggling through setbacks.
• 31:35
Speaker 3: So El says, you're Chelsea. My son is sixteen and
• 31:38
Speaker 3: struggles to process setbacks and perceived failure. He's at the
• 31:41
Speaker 3: top of his class, takes multiple ap courses, and thrives
• 31:44
Speaker 3: in academic environments, even though he claims his classes are boring.
• 31:48
Speaker 3: Many things in life come easily to him, except baseball setbacks.
• 31:51
Speaker 3: He's been playing baseball since he was about five, and
• 31:54
Speaker 3: even after entering high school, he was often the strongest
• 31:56
Speaker 3: player on his team. He's currently on a competitive travel team,
• 32:00
Speaker 3: so the level of play is higher and he has
• 32:01
Speaker 3: to work harder. In theory, there should be a healthy
• 32:04
Speaker 3: learning and growth experience, but in reality, any perceived poor
• 32:07
Speaker 3: performance sends him into an intense spiral of self criticism
• 32:11
Speaker 3: and frustration that can last for hours. But baseball doesn't
• 32:14
Speaker 3: allow hours to process emotions. The game continues and he's
• 32:17
Speaker 3: expected to stay mentally present for his team. He becomes
• 32:20
Speaker 3: angry with himself, his performance suffers, and this only reinforces
• 32:24
Speaker 3: the cycle. We currently have him in therapy, though he
• 32:26
Speaker 3: doesn't have buy in. He views his reactions as normal
• 32:29
Speaker 3: teenage emotions, which, to some extent they are. Our goal
• 32:32
Speaker 3: isn't to pathologize his feelings, but to help him develop
• 32:35
Speaker 3: coping strategies so that setbacks don't derail his mood, confidence,
• 32:38
Speaker 3: or performance for the rest of the game and be
• 32:40
Speaker 3: on the field. We've tried a gratitude journal, which he
• 32:43
Speaker 3: didn't take very seriously, and his therapist has given him
• 32:45
Speaker 3: strategies to practice in the moment, but the cycle persists.
• 32:48
Speaker 3: Do you have any suggestions for helping him process these
• 32:51
Speaker 3: emotions in a healthier way? Are there any strategies you'd
• 32:54
Speaker 3: recommend that we might not have tried with gratitude?
• 32:56
Speaker 1: L Hi, L Hi? How are you? This is our
• 33:00
Speaker 1: special guest, Sarah chalk.
• 33:01
Speaker 4: Oh, nice to meet you.
• 33:03
  Speaker 2: Hi Hi.
• 33:04
Speaker 1: I have a friend who's staying with me right now, Whistler,
• 33:08
Speaker 1: and her daughter is in the same situation that your
• 33:10
Speaker 1: son is very successful athlete. Young had a like, you know,
• 33:14
Speaker 1: bad day playing and was devastated by it, you know,
• 33:18
Speaker 1: And I think those are all really natural emotions, but
• 33:21
Speaker 1: for a kids to like, if they want to take them, like,
• 33:24
Speaker 1: they have to get into like a championship mentality, right,
• 33:28
Speaker 1: Like if they're gonna really be successful at this, they
• 33:31
Speaker 1: have to out smart themselves. And like, there's got to
• 33:35
Speaker 1: be a lot of books on this, Jamie, did you
• 33:37
Speaker 1: say you knew about a book about this? She's I'm
• 33:39
Speaker 1: gonna have her come upstairs because we literally just had
• 33:41
Speaker 1: this conversation about her daughter last night, and she's like,
• 33:43
Speaker 1: it is what it is. She didn't have a good
• 33:45
Speaker 1: day today. She's just gonna have to deal with it.
• 33:47
Speaker 1: That's the like the mentality of a champ Like if
• 33:49
Speaker 1: you're you're gonna have to deal with your emotions and
• 33:51
Speaker 1: you can't spiral every time, and that's something that he's
• 33:54
Speaker 1: just gonna kind of have to learn. This woman's calling
• 33:56
Speaker 1: in with the same thing we were talking about yesterday,
• 33:58
Speaker 1: her son like flipped expiraling out when he has a
• 34:01
Speaker 1: bad play and stuff. Do you want to hop on
• 34:03
Speaker 1: and give her some advice? Here, this is my friend.
• 34:05
Speaker 1: She just happens to be in town.
• 34:07
Speaker 2: Hi, beautiful Jamie, Hi gorgeous.
• 34:09
  Speaker 1: Hi.
• 34:11
Speaker 3: So, her son is struggling with feelings of self criticism
• 34:15
Speaker 3: and especially when he's playing baseball, and so like he
• 34:19
Speaker 3: needs tools to like quickly process those emotions.
• 34:21
Speaker 1: How old is he?
• 34:23
  Speaker 4: He's sixteen?
• 34:24
Speaker 5: Okay, I have the same thing of a fifteen year
• 34:26
Speaker 5: old superstar softball player. So what I've learned from this journey.
• 34:31
Speaker 5: I also played sports in college, and I wish I
• 34:33
Speaker 5: had this information when I was in college because I
• 34:35
Speaker 5: think it would have made me a better competitor. Is
• 34:39
Speaker 5: it's all mental? Everything is mental. Has he hit home
• 34:43
Speaker 5: runs before? Has he made double plays?
• 34:46
Speaker 6: Yes, well, he's gotten triples before. He's ever hit it
• 34:50
Speaker 6: over and out of the park, right, he's made double plays.
• 34:53
  Speaker 4: He's a really good player.
• 34:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, but he's a perfectionist yeah yeah, And he's just
• 35:00
Speaker 5: criticizes himself when he doesn't perform right. So, Like, I
• 35:04
Speaker 5: think the most important thing an athlete can do is
• 35:07
Speaker 5: work on their mental game. Does he journal No.
• 35:11
Speaker 6: I tried having them, Like Catherine said, I tried having
• 35:13
Speaker 6: him write a gratitude journal. This was last summer, and
• 35:16
Speaker 6: he we would go through what he would write in there,
• 35:20
Speaker 6: because at first, like he he thinks he's a normal team.
• 35:23
Speaker 6: He doesn't think that anything that is happening with his
• 35:26
Speaker 6: emotions is out of the ordinary. And again it's it's not.
• 35:30
Speaker 5: It's not it's how you can train your brain to
• 35:34
Speaker 5: it's it's really a mental thing. So like my daughter,
• 35:37
Speaker 5: what she started doing, I mean, she wants to play
• 35:39
Speaker 5: D one, so this is all her journey. I don't
• 35:42
Speaker 5: push her, this is her thing. But she started journaling.
• 35:46
Speaker 5: So before she'll do hitting lessons, before a group practice,
• 35:50
Speaker 5: before any sort of work she's doing, she'll put what
• 35:53
Speaker 5: her expectations are for the practice, and then after the
• 35:57
Speaker 5: practice she'll put in did she accomplish that? What did
• 36:00
Speaker 5: she need to work on next practice? And so it's
• 36:02
Speaker 5: always just like looking at what you've done and what
• 36:08
Speaker 5: you need to do right now. It sounds like it's
• 36:10
Speaker 5: all a mental thing. So that's what he should be
• 36:13
Speaker 5: focusing on. There's a book called, I think it's called Champion.
• 36:16
Speaker 5: The Champion mind be the champion mind or something like that.
• 36:19
Speaker 5: She started reading that she talks to a mental coach.
• 36:22
  Speaker 2: Now.
• 36:22
Speaker 5: I mean, it's so different from when I was growing up.
• 36:24
Speaker 5: We didn't have anything. I was just like, if I sucked,
• 36:26
Speaker 5: I would just be in like a dark hole. But
• 36:29
Speaker 5: you know, and all the high end coaches all tell
• 36:33
Speaker 5: if you watch any tiktoks or Instagram, they all tell
• 36:36
Speaker 5: the players like what we're watching. We don't care if
• 36:39
Speaker 5: you're a baller. We don't care if you have one
• 36:41
Speaker 5: hundred percent batting average. We care about your body language.
• 36:44
Speaker 5: So if you strike out three times in a row,
• 36:47
Speaker 5: do you go in the dugout and bring everybody down
• 36:48
Speaker 5: with your energy or do you, you know, come in
• 36:51
Speaker 5: and just realize what you did wrong and move on,
• 36:54
  Speaker 5: turn the page.
• 36:55
  Speaker 2: You know.
• 36:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, And it's hard for them to pull back and
• 36:58
Speaker 5: look at themselves. But you're on a team sport. If
• 37:00
Speaker 5: you want to go torture yourself, go swim, go golf,
• 37:03
Speaker 5: go tennis. But this is a team sport, So bring
• 37:07
Speaker 5: the good energy even when shit is bad. And what's
• 37:09
Speaker 5: great about all this is it's such a good lesson
• 37:11
  Speaker 5: for life.
• 37:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, I've done my way to drap on the knowledge.
• 37:17
Speaker 5: Yes, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go warm my toes
• 37:20
Speaker 5: for the Whistler Hill. Here's your host, Chelsea Hammler.
• 37:26
Speaker 1: I really had to put her on the spot there,
• 37:28
Speaker 1: you guys, and she delivered.
• 37:30
Speaker 2: That was late. I think what she said about like
• 37:35
Speaker 2: being a perfectionist is so true, Like and I was
• 37:38
Speaker 2: a perfectionist as a kid and experienced, you know, really
• 37:42
Speaker 2: trying to figure out how to go back to a
• 37:44
Speaker 2: growth mindset, like I think I had one initially and
• 37:47
Speaker 2: then as you work going back into the auditioning process,
• 37:49
Speaker 2: I really got out of that. And in terms of like,
• 37:53
Speaker 2: you know, because I was a kid who like if
• 37:55
Speaker 2: I was doing a project on Sri Lanka, I was
• 37:56
Speaker 2: cutting every page out into the shape of an elephant,
• 37:58
Speaker 2: Like don't do that, just travel later. That makes no sense.
• 38:01
Speaker 2: And I, you know, in terms of team sports, like
• 38:05
Speaker 2: it's all I wanted. I just want to be on
• 38:07
Speaker 2: a team, Like I would take any fucking team. I
• 38:08
Speaker 2: was like, I tried it for basketball, volleyball, the track
• 38:11
Speaker 2: and field team. I was like, whoever will take me?
• 38:14
Speaker 2: Nobody would, So I got used to a level of
• 38:18
Speaker 2: rejection that I think actually is why I ended up
• 38:21
Speaker 2: being able to go into acting. But I think, like
• 38:24
Speaker 2: for your son and for the times of days that
• 38:26
Speaker 2: doesn't work out, I actually think it's really true that
• 38:29
Speaker 2: you learn so much more from failure than you do
• 38:31
Speaker 2: from your successes. So every like if you're going and
• 38:33
Speaker 2: you're hitting a home run every time, like, actually it's incredible,
• 38:36
  Speaker 2: But I don't think you're learning anything that's going to
• 38:38
Speaker 2: help you grow. And so because the reality is like
• 38:42
Speaker 2: I don't know if the goal for him is to
• 38:44
Speaker 2: become like a professional baseball player or if it's just
• 38:46
Speaker 2: to do it right now with his buddies. But if
• 38:48
Speaker 2: he's out there and he's failing, it's obviously not failing.
• 38:51
Speaker 2: But I mean, if he's not doing let's say it
• 38:53
Speaker 2: doesn't go the way that he wants, he's going to
• 38:55
Speaker 2: come out of that. And right now, like you said,
• 38:56
Speaker 2: he's working through it and he's trying the gratitude journal,
• 38:59
Speaker 2: you're trying therapy, trying all these different things. Those are
• 39:01
Speaker 2: all tools that are going to serve him in every
• 39:05
Speaker 2: area of his life. No, because none of us are
• 39:08
Speaker 2: going to no matter what we do, we're not going
• 39:09
Speaker 2: to go out there and it's not going to be
• 39:11
Speaker 2: a successful day. All of the days most days, and
• 39:14
Speaker 2: I think like if you can, like just the fact
• 39:17
Speaker 2: that you're and him are aware of it and trying
• 39:20
Speaker 2: to work through the tools. I guess the other part
• 39:22
Speaker 2: of it is what's the goal for him in terms
• 39:25
Speaker 2: of like does he want to take this the whole
• 39:29
Speaker 2: way and if not, what is the best spot for him?
• 39:32
Speaker 2: Like my niece played professional or not professional. She played
• 39:35
Speaker 2: field hockey at a high level. She was on Team Canada,
• 39:37
Speaker 2: and when she stopped, her enjoyment of the game went
• 39:41
Speaker 2: like through the room. She's an incredible field hockey player.
• 39:44
  Speaker 2: But sometimes I think when you're a kid and you're
• 39:46
Speaker 2: a teenager and you're dealing with all of the elements
• 39:49
Speaker 2: of being a teenager and the pressures of school and
• 39:52
Speaker 2: all of that, like to take the pressure cooker out
• 39:56
Speaker 2: of it, and they can actually just really enjoy the
• 39:58
Speaker 2: sport can be really cool too. I mean obviously that
• 40:01
Speaker 2: balance with you know, yeah them pushing through the heart
• 40:04
Speaker 2: is probably the most important part.
• 40:06
Speaker 1: But also, like I think what Jamie said is like like,
• 40:08
Speaker 1: for first of all, of course, the gratitude journal, like
• 40:11
Speaker 1: most adult men are not going to do that, you know,
• 40:13
Speaker 1: so like if you could, if you pivot and make
• 40:15
Speaker 1: a journal about journaling, like about his expectations, about before practices,
• 40:19
Speaker 1: about what he expects, and also emphasize that team component aspect,
• 40:23
Speaker 1: like you want to be a leader, you want to
• 40:25
Speaker 1: be a champion, then you need to actually get into
• 40:28
Speaker 1: like a kick into a different gear when you're disappointed
• 40:31
Speaker 1: in your own performance, you know what I mean. You
• 40:33
Speaker 1: can't bring other people down with you. I think that
• 40:35
Speaker 1: will have an impact on him as well.
• 40:38
Speaker 6: Do you have any advice for when he's in the
• 40:40
Speaker 6: moment when something doesn't go because like in his mind,
• 40:44
Speaker 6: even if he hits a pop fly, that's a horrible
• 40:46
Speaker 6: hit because pop flies are at his level of play
• 40:48
Speaker 6: now ninety nine percent of the time caught, and he's
• 40:52
Speaker 6: just like now done for the game essentially, Like he
• 40:54
Speaker 6: was even ejected out of a game by the umpire
• 40:58
Speaker 6: for arguing a call. And it's just in the moment,
• 41:01
Speaker 6: like I can get him to do I think like
• 41:03
Speaker 6: the because two hours after a game he's like totally fine.
• 41:06
  Speaker 4: He's like, oh yeah, I'm good. I'm like, but I
• 41:09
Speaker 4: need you to be good like in that moment, because
• 41:11
Speaker 4: now you're just hurting your team.
• 41:13
Speaker 3: I don't know if you can get buy in on this,
• 41:15
Speaker 3: But meditating on a daily basis, even if it's like
• 41:18
Speaker 3: five ten minutes, can help slow him down in those
• 41:21
Speaker 3: moments so he's not like.
• 41:22
Speaker 2: Just having this super like fast reaction. It really does
• 41:27
  Speaker 2: help you.
• 41:27
Speaker 3: Have a more measured response when when stuff like that happens.
• 41:30
Speaker 3: And it doesn't even have to be like woo woo meditations.
• 41:34
Speaker 3: It can be simple box breathing or counting to ten
• 41:37
Speaker 3: with his breaths, or even just doing you know, really
• 41:40
Speaker 3: short basic meditations on headspace or an app like that.
• 41:43
Speaker 1: I think your role is just to really be a
• 41:45
Speaker 1: guide for to hear him when he is looking for
• 41:48
Speaker 1: answers that you can help him to find those answers.
• 41:51
Speaker 1: You guys will work together to find those answers. If
• 41:54
Speaker 1: he's disappointed in his own behavior and his reaction, then
• 41:57
Speaker 1: that's an opening for you to go, Okay, we can
• 42:00
Speaker 1: figure this out together. I can help you this. This
• 42:03
Speaker 1: study says all we have to do is meditate five
• 42:05
Speaker 1: minutes a day. He's not going to like that either,
• 42:07
Speaker 1: but you can do it with him. You can sit
• 42:08
Speaker 1: there and say, this is going to help your brain
• 42:10
Speaker 1: regulate so that when you are in that moment and
• 42:13
Speaker 1: you are feeling super reactive, you can pull back and
• 42:16
Speaker 1: just be quiet and think of your team instead of
• 42:18
Speaker 1: thinking of yourself and your reactivity, and like just taking
• 42:21
Speaker 1: all those moments without being too kind of officious, because
• 42:25
Speaker 1: of course you're's mother and you care more about him
• 42:27
Speaker 1: than anybody in the world, but just to be like
• 42:30
Speaker 1: this calming force around him so that he keeps coming
• 42:33
Speaker 1: to you when he wants answers, so that you're the
• 42:37
Speaker 1: calm and he's the storm, and that he knows where
• 42:40
Speaker 1: the calm is going to be.
• 42:41
Speaker 3: And then just one more thing I want to flag
• 42:43
Speaker 3: all before you go, is if he is being really
• 42:46
Speaker 3: self critical and irritable, especially irritable outside of practice, I
• 42:51
Speaker 3: would keep an eye on that because that can be
• 42:52
Speaker 3: a sign of depression in teenage boys. So just keep
• 42:55
Speaker 3: an eye on that outside of base on two.
• 42:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely know. We're very aware, like he's putting a
• 43:01
Speaker 4: lot of pressure on himself.
• 43:03
Speaker 6: My husband and I tell him, like, you don't have
• 43:04
Speaker 6: to play, Like we're cool if you don't want to play,
• 43:07
Speaker 6: but he loves the game and he wants to play
• 43:11
Speaker 6: and he wants to do really well.
• 43:13
Speaker 4: And it's like, oh, but it's hurting you.
• 43:15
Speaker 1: I know, but you know that's something he's going to
• 43:17
Speaker 1: have to figure out for himself, Like there's nothing you
• 43:19
Speaker 1: can do. He's going to have to decide if it's
• 43:21
Speaker 1: worth the feelings that come with, you know, not always succeeding,
• 43:25
Speaker 1: Like is it worth it? Are the wins like worth
• 43:27
Speaker 1: it with the losses? And that's not something you can
• 43:31
Speaker 1: make happen for him. You can only be supportive at
• 43:34
Speaker 1: every turn and be like, Okay, you want to do this,
• 43:36
Speaker 1: We're going to support you. If you don't want to
• 43:37
Speaker 1: do it, we'll totally support you too.
• 43:39
Speaker 6: I know I've mentioned so we do have him in therapy.
• 43:41
Speaker 6: Do you think finding a new therapist is that something
• 43:44
Speaker 6: to do? Because the guy he goes to now and
• 43:46
Speaker 6: he's very nice and my son says he likes him,
• 43:49
Speaker 6: but then when we drive to his sessions, he's like, yeah,
• 43:52
  Speaker 6: I don't really think I need this, So like I
• 43:54
Speaker 6: feel like his buy in isn't that everybody?
• 43:57
Speaker 3: Everybody feels that way on their way to therapy, Like
• 44:00
Speaker 3: I don't need this today and then it's your biggest day.
• 44:02
Speaker 1: I would keep him in therapy and like, if you
• 44:04
Speaker 1: can look for maybe some like a sports therapist or
• 44:07
Speaker 1: something that's a little bit more geared to what he's
• 44:08
Speaker 1: into in the interim, But don't take him out prematurely.
• 44:11
Speaker 1: Just leave him in so he has some sort of
• 44:14
Speaker 1: sounding board, but also in the meantime, look for somebody
• 44:16
Speaker 1: that you can gear towards more what his interests are.
• 44:19
Speaker 2: All right, well, keep us posted.
• 44:20
Speaker 4: Okay, okay, thank you, I thanks bye.
• 44:23
Speaker 1: Al, thanks for calling in. Wow, that was like a
• 44:26
  Speaker 1: triage moment.
• 44:27
Speaker 2: You guys really like you guys and Jamie stepping in.
• 44:31
Speaker 1: All hands on deck. That was serious.
• 44:33
Speaker 2: Oh my god. I wanted team sports so badly. Like
• 44:36
Speaker 2: I finally said to the coach, I'm like, I just
• 44:38
Speaker 2: want to get on the bus. What's nobody signing up for?
• 44:40
Speaker 2: And they were like, nobody does racewalking and I was like, great,
• 44:43
Speaker 2: I'm in. And so I was racewalking just so.
• 44:48
Speaker 1: And were you racewalking all by yourself?
• 44:49
Speaker 2: Because it was like a few kids from other schools
• 44:54
Speaker 2: in the province. So I came second in the province
• 44:56
Speaker 2: because it was probably only two people.
• 44:58
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 44:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, finish up with our one drink question here.
• 45:02
Speaker 3: So Nicky says, I'm a thirty five year old Canadian
• 45:06
Speaker 3: passionate about boycotting US travel and products when possible in
• 45:09
Speaker 3: the wake of the current administration threatening to invade Canada
• 45:13
Speaker 3: and all this fifty first state bullshit.
• 45:15
Speaker 2: The problem is that I live in.
• 45:17
Speaker 3: The frozen tundra of Winnipeg and my husband wants to
• 45:19
Speaker 3: take a vacation somewhere hot while it's still cold. My
• 45:22
Speaker 3: husband is a wonderful partner and dad that works incredibly hard.
• 45:25
Speaker 3: He's in his first year of being an attending doctor
• 45:28
Speaker 3: after fourteen years of training. We have two young kids
• 45:30
Speaker 3: and can only manage to get away for a long weekend,
• 45:33
Speaker 3: and there are not many direct flights out of Winnipeg.
• 45:35
Speaker 3: He would love to go to Phoenix, Vegas or Palm
• 45:38
Speaker 3: Springs since it'll be hot and.
• 45:39
Speaker 1: We can fly direct.
• 45:41
Speaker 3: He agrees with boycotting US travel, but also feels like
• 45:43
Speaker 3: we need to live our lives a bit. So my
• 45:45
Speaker 3: question is do I make an exception to my boycott
• 45:48
Speaker 3: to go on vacation with my husband, who absolutely deserves it.
• 45:50
Speaker 1: NICKI no, No, find somewhere else to go or go
• 45:53
Speaker 1: to asauna, like, forget about it. Your boycott is a boycott.
• 45:57
Speaker 1: I don't know temporary boycotts like you can things to
• 46:00
Speaker 1: cancel them. It doesn't work if we're not serious about it.
• 46:03
Speaker 1: So if you care about the state of the world,
• 46:05
Speaker 1: you have to care about boycotting things altogether. And I'm
• 46:08
Speaker 1: believing I'm doing it in my own life, and I'm
• 46:10
Speaker 1: doing it with all the people that I work with
• 46:12
Speaker 1: and the people that work for me in my house everything.
• 46:14
Speaker 1: This is a consideration that we talk about all the time.
• 46:17
Speaker 1: It is serious business. So yeah, I mean also, I
• 46:21
Speaker 1: joined Noble Mobile. I got off of eighteen and T Verizon.
• 46:24
Speaker 1: That's one good thing you can do. You can join
• 46:25
Speaker 1: Noble Mobile. They encourage you to stay off of your phone.
• 46:28
Speaker 1: They incentivize you to stay off of your phone. My
• 46:31
Speaker 1: phone bills have been like thirty five dollars a month
• 46:33
Speaker 1: and I travel internationally all the time, so that's a
• 46:35
Speaker 1: great first step. Cancel chat GPT, please be on the
• 46:40
Speaker 1: only ethical anthropic is the only ethical like AI system
• 46:43
Speaker 1: that is available. So try to down get rid of
• 46:46
Speaker 1: chat GPT. Like these steps mean things. These people are
• 46:49
Speaker 1: making money and profiting off of our prison system, off
• 46:52
Speaker 1: of these detention centers. They are making money off of
• 46:55
Speaker 1: this all of these AI guys. So if you want
• 46:57
Speaker 1: to have an impact, you have to be serious and
• 47:00
Speaker 1: your husband can go without his vacation to prompt springs
• 47:02
  Speaker 1: for the year.
• 47:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, go to go to BC good Whistler.
• 47:05
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I guess that's cool. By the way, it's
• 47:09
Speaker 1: it's hot here, so you can come here. I'm sure
• 47:10
  Speaker 1: it'll be It's like we've got the worst winter. It's
• 47:12
Speaker 1: like hot cold, hot cold, so by the time you
• 47:14
Speaker 1: get here it could be sunny exactly exactly. And I
• 47:19
Speaker 1: say this, I know that you're listening to this, and
• 47:20
Speaker 1: people are like, well, it's might be easier for you
• 47:22
Speaker 1: because you have more you know, privilege, and I have
• 47:24
Speaker 1: more money. It's it's listen, it's hard for all of us.
• 47:26
Speaker 1: I use all of those things all the time, and
• 47:29
Speaker 1: I have to be disciplined. I never go on chap
• 47:31
Speaker 1: GPT ever ever, ever, ever. I barely use anthropic. I
• 47:34
Speaker 1: don't want to even get into that. And I know, Sarah,
• 47:37
Speaker 1: we've already discussed our limited technology abilities, so it's like
• 47:41
Speaker 1: it's hard for me, so those things are kind of
• 47:43
Speaker 1: not even that difficult. But I've I've can canceled streaming services,
• 47:47
Speaker 1: I stop using Amazon. Like we're doing everything we can
• 47:50
Speaker 1: to make sure that you make a dent in these
• 47:52
Speaker 1: people's bottom lines, because that's all anybody cares about.
• 47:54
Speaker 2: Is money, right, right, and where it hurts.
• 47:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, So we'll take a break and we'll be right
• 47:59
Speaker 1: back to wrap up with Sarah Chalk. And we're back
• 48:06
Speaker 1: with Sarah Chalk. Everyone can watch Scrubs? Where where can
• 48:09
  Speaker 1: they watch Scrubs.
• 48:10
Speaker 2: Sarah on ABC on Wednesday nights and streams the next
• 48:12
Speaker 2: day on Hulu Disney Plus.
• 48:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, and Hulu Disney Plus is a perfect example of
• 48:16
Speaker 1: somebody who did the wrong thing and then corrected it
• 48:19
Speaker 1: and did the right thing. So I canceled that prescription
• 48:21
Speaker 1: and then I re downloaded it when they did the
• 48:23
Speaker 1: right thing, so you can reward the description subscription was
• 48:26
Speaker 1: it did I say prescription? You did too much drugs?
• 48:30
Speaker 1: That's a perfect way to go out with our scrub star.
• 48:34
  Speaker 1: Thank you, Sarah.
• 48:35
  Speaker 2: I will.
• 48:35
Speaker 1: We're gonna have to stay together at some point, Okay,
• 48:38
  Speaker 1: So I.
• 48:38
Speaker 2: Would love it. Yes, I was up. I was up
• 48:41
Speaker 2: last week and there was Yeah, there was like no
• 48:43
Speaker 2: snow or you know, rained on snow. So I'm so
• 48:47
Speaker 2: excited it's coming. And apparently it's like one hundred centimeters
• 48:49
Speaker 2: in the next couple of days.
• 48:50
  Speaker 1: I know, I know, I'm not even I have to
• 48:51
Speaker 1: leave on Thursday, but I'm going to be back in
• 48:53
Speaker 1: the beginning of April, so I'm going to hit you
• 48:54
Speaker 1: up and see if you're around too.
• 48:56
Speaker 2: Okay, I would love it. I want to hear about Finland.
• 48:58
Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, I can't wait to tell you. It was awesome.
• 49:00
Speaker 1: It was so beautiful. Yeah, Okay, have a great day, Sarah.
• 49:04
Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
• 49:06
Speaker 2: Ok thanks for having me.
• 49:08
Speaker 3: The word of the week is officious. Officious adjective intrusive
• 49:14
Speaker 3: in a meddling or offensive manner, used to describe someone
• 49:18
Speaker 3: that acts more official than they actually are. Volunteering one
• 49:23
Speaker 3: surfaces where they are neither asked nor needed. Used in
• 49:27
Speaker 3: a sentence, the man spreading Man's planer was both meddlesome
• 49:32
  Speaker 3: and officious officious.
• 49:38
