- 0:00Carmen Lezeth: Hey everyone, welcome to All About the Joy.
- 0:02Carmen Lezeth: This is the private lounge.
- 0:03Carmen Lezeth: We have Cynthia in the house, rick Costa's in the house.
- 0:06Carmen Lezeth: How you guys doing what's up?
- 0:08Carmen Lezeth: So today we're going to talk about a subject.
- 0:12Carmen Lezeth: I think we touched on this before on one of our lives.
- 0:15Carmen Lezeth: We talked about pet peeves and I really want to talk about it because I want to think about what it says about us.
- 0:21Carmen Lezeth: About what it says about us.
- 0:30Carmen Lezeth: So I think it could be both a positive and a negative.
- 0:32Carmen Lezeth: So first I wanted to see what you guys thought.
- 0:33Carmen Lezeth: Maybe the definition of pet peeves are for you.
- 0:35Cynthia: I guess something that just annoys you, that you know kind of is like a tick or something that just triggers you type of thing.
- 0:44Cynthia: I've got plenty of those.
- 0:46Carmen Lezeth: Right, yeah, it's something that a particular person finds especially annoying or frustrating.
- 0:52Carmen Lezeth: It might be something big or small, but it's not like something general that everyone, that it bothers everyone.
- 0:59Carmen Lezeth: I mean, rick, would you kind of agree with that?
- 1:01Carmen Lezeth: Yeah?
- 1:03Rick Costa: To me.
- 1:03Rick Costa: I would say it's something that is annoying to you, but the root of it is in consideration on the other person's part.
- 1:12Carmen Lezeth: Oh, you made that all like that.
- 1:14Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's the other person's fault, right?
- 1:17Carmen Lezeth: I think one of my big we've talked about this.
- 1:21Carmen Lezeth: I cannot stand people who don't use directionals.
- 1:23Carmen Lezeth: I can't stand it.
- 1:24Carmen Lezeth: Think one of my big we've talked about this.
- 1:24Carmen Lezeth: I cannot stand people who don't use directionals.
- 1:25Carmen Lezeth: I can't stand it.
- 1:27Carmen Lezeth: Uh, when you're driving in some places they're called blinkers right blinkers in in connecticut.
- 1:37Carmen Lezeth: What do you guys call them?
- 1:38Rick Costa: turn signal, I think turn signals right.
- 1:41Carmen Lezeth: So I have gotten so frustrated and I just want to apologize in case this person is ever watching this show.
- 1:48Carmen Lezeth: I don't know who you are, but you were driving a Lambo.
- 1:52Carmen Lezeth: Is that what they're called the Lamborghinis?
- 1:54Carmen Lezeth: Is that what a Lambo, 21 years old, that's in mint condition.
- 2:02Carmen Lezeth: And I went to the stop sign and they were like here and I, and that's a red light, the red light.
- 2:09Carmen Lezeth: And I went and I rolled down my window, cause I had that window open and I was like, does your car not come with a direction?
- 2:18Carmen Lezeth: They couldn't hear me, but I was like, and they didn't hear, they could care less, like, and I realized like that's bad, like that's road rage, but I was so annoyed.
- 2:31Carmen Lezeth: Is that what the Lamborghinis are called?
- 2:33Carmen Lezeth: Lambos?
- 2:35Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 2:36Carmen Lezeth: Oh, they are Okay.
- 2:36Carmen Lezeth: But I said it with attitude and angry, but they didn't hear me.
- 2:42Carmen Lezeth: But they also probably heard me and just ignored me, because why would you respond to me?
- 2:47Carmen Lezeth: Do you know what I mean?
- 2:48Carmen Lezeth: But I felt they knew that what they did was wrong.
- 2:53Carmen Lezeth: I'm just going to say yeah.
- 2:55Cynthia: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 2:56Cynthia: I'm the same way Today.
- 2:58Cynthia: Actually, as I'm driving home, I'm thinking about like the pet peeves and I said, oh yeah, this is one of them, people not using their blinkers, cutting in front of me, and of course they can't hear me in my car and I'm cussing them out.
- 3:11Cynthia: And, juan's, like you think you have road rage?
- 3:14Carmen Lezeth: Oh, my God, oh, he's in the car with you.
- 3:16Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, whenever I'm driving he's in the car.
- 3:19Carmen Lezeth: You know what's so ghetto about me?
- 3:22Carmen Lezeth: If somebody's in the car with me, especially one of my god daughters or something I'm so composed like, all the rage is inside.
- 3:30Carmen Lezeth: I'm totally that person like in the car, I'm totally happy and joyful, but inside, dying, I would never wow.
- 3:40Rick Costa: Okay, you have the same road rage thing I do oh yeah, I think my son may have said something to the same effect once or twice in the past before.
- 3:48Rick Costa: Like Dad, you're really angry.
- 3:50Rick Costa: I'm like because it's stupid.
- 3:53Carmen Lezeth: You know what would be great though I know this sounds weird I've always wanted to have a little sign Like is your blinker broken?
- 4:01Carmen Lezeth: No, you're so bad, no, but just a sign that you could just put up or whatever.
- 4:09Carmen Lezeth: Or you could press a button and it could come out of your car and be like a flag or something and say is your blinker broken, or something.
- 4:16Carmen Lezeth: I just don't understand why.
- 4:19Carmen Lezeth: Well, okay, so this is what I think it says about me.
- 4:22Carmen Lezeth: Clearly I have issues with road rage, I think no, but I.
- 4:24Carmen Lezeth: I think it says about me.
- 4:25Carmen Lezeth: Um, clearly I have issues with road rage, I think no, but I.
- 4:27Carmen Lezeth: I do think it's about consideration.
- 4:29Carmen Lezeth: That was one of the things I wrote was I don't like people who aren't, because people who are doing that are not thinking about the people behind them, right?
- 4:36Carmen Lezeth: They're not being considerate that other people don't know where they're going.
- 4:40Carmen Lezeth: And when we don't know where you're going, we're assuming you're going to go straight and so we're going to behave that way.
- 4:49Carmen Lezeth: And then somebody else would be like well, you're supposed to be one car behind.
- 4:52Carmen Lezeth: I am, I am.
- 4:52Carmen Lezeth: That's not the point, you know.
- 4:55Cynthia: And this week all the school, college schools are moving in, so of course you have people from other states and it's like dude, if you're going to move into this state, use your blinkers.
- 5:08Cynthia: Know the rules of Boston.
- 5:12Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 5:12Carmen Lezeth: Boston is crazy.
- 5:15Carmen Lezeth: Drive is like LA.
- 5:16Carmen Lezeth: True but true, but still use your blinker right, exactly.
- 5:22Rick Costa: You know, what always makes me madder is not that they didn't use their blinker at all.
- 5:28Rick Costa: It's when they slow down.
- 5:31Rick Costa: They're already starting to turn, and then they turn on their blinks.
- 5:38Cynthia: They already knew.
- 5:40Rick Costa: That pissed me off even more.
- 5:43Carmen Lezeth: They're already in the turn, they're already almost there, and then they put on the blinker.
- 5:48Carmen Lezeth: That one's a good one.
- 5:49Carmen Lezeth: It's hilarious, yeah.
- 5:50Carmen Lezeth: What other pet peeves do you guys have?
- 5:55Cynthia: Oh, I hate the sound of people chewing.
- 5:57Cynthia: Do you really?
- 5:59Cynthia: It's really?
- 6:02Cynthia: Oh my God.
- 6:03Carmen Lezeth: Wait, so that's not an ASMRmr thing you want to listen to wow, I didn't know that.
- 6:11Carmen Lezeth: It really bothers me, yeah so what do you think it says about you?
- 6:17Carmen Lezeth: I know people who haven't seen our episode where we did asmr for like the whole hour, all all three of us.
- 6:23Carmen Lezeth: It was so random, it was one of our Friday night lives.
- 6:27Carmen Lezeth: It was very funny actually, right, yeah, what do you think it says about you?
- 6:31Carmen Lezeth: That I have anger issues?
- 6:35Carmen Lezeth: No, no, it probably means that, like you don't like kind of ambient noises like that.
- 6:44Cynthia: Yeah, there's certain noises that really bother me, like very, very high-pitched noises bother me, like alarms, like a fire alarm.
- 6:49Cynthia: That really bugs me.
- 6:51Cynthia: Okay, that's supposed to bug you.
- 6:54Cynthia: Well, yeah, I know, I know it is, but there's certain ones that are just really, really high pitch and it really hurts my ears, but chewing sounds.
- 7:06Carmen Lezeth: Sounds is interesting, because how do you get around that when you're at dinner with somebody?
- 7:10Cynthia: Yeah, you just kind of your face yeah Hard.
- 7:18Carmen Lezeth: Is it anybody chewing, or certain like people who, like you know, do the chewing thing very loudly, very loudly, or is it just chewing?
- 7:29Rick Costa: Very loudly yeah.
- 7:32Cynthia: There's another person that, like they chew with their mouth closed, but it's almost like you can hear the teeth hitting each other and it's like why are you chewing like that?
- 7:42Cynthia: Wow.
- 7:44Carmen Lezeth: Is the food that hard?
- 7:45Carmen Lezeth: Wow, I've never.
- 7:48Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I know there are people who don't like that, but okay.
- 7:50Carmen Lezeth: But Rick, what were you going to say?
- 7:52Rick Costa: I think this is more like an old movie thing, but there used to be like characters would be like chewing gum Hang, hang a gun, don't want you to die.
- 8:01Carmen Lezeth: Look at Cynthia's dying dying.
- 8:03Cynthia: That's annoying.
- 8:05Carmen Lezeth: You know, there's so much ASMR videos and stuff on YouTube and TikTok where that's all they're doing.
- 8:12Carmen Lezeth: They're like licking their lips, really.
- 8:16Cynthia: She just keeps swiping.
- 8:17Cynthia: I know someone else who eats fruit and they're always like and I went.
- 8:25Carmen Lezeth: I wonder, what that means.
- 8:26Carmen Lezeth: Right like I wonder, because I don't know, it's just okay, but wait, I have something similar, rick, we're gonna get you in a second, that's what?
- 8:34Carmen Lezeth: But just because we're the same thing, I don't like when people are typing too loud or their phones like, and to me it's like.
- 8:42Carmen Lezeth: I don't like noise pollution.
- 8:44Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if that's a thing, but I don't like.
- 8:46Carmen Lezeth: I like it quiet.
- 8:47Carmen Lezeth: So I wonder if there's something similar there.
- 8:49Rick Costa: But I don't like clickety clackety keyboards, like when my boss gave me the last computer I was like, oh no, got rid of it.
- 9:01Cynthia: I hate that, it's just annoying what about the when they have the long nails and they're typing no?
- 9:05Cynthia: I hate that, it's just annoying.
- 9:06Cynthia: What about the typewriters?
- 9:07Carmen Lezeth: When they have the long nails and they're typing.
- 9:09Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I don't get the long nails thing and typing and I don't know who said wiping their ass.
- 9:14Carmen Lezeth: One time I was like it's too much information.
- 9:18Carmen Lezeth: But now, whenever I see somebody with long nails it doesn't matter who it is, celebrity, anything I'm like it's the.
- 9:26Carmen Lezeth: It's the only thing that comes to my head, like that must hurt.
- 9:31Carmen Lezeth: Or you're not wiping fully, or maybe you have a bidet.
- 9:35Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 9:38Carmen Lezeth: You must have a bidet Because you can't.
- 9:45Carmen Lezeth: You know, like Cynthia Erivovo, who we all love, her nails are longer than she is tall.
- 9:48Carmen Lezeth: I mean, she's like a little thing and her nails are like clam, clam, clam.
- 9:52Carmen Lezeth: You know, um, but yeah, oh.
- 9:55Rick Costa: So you don't like an old school typewriter, though, rick that's like a vintage thing, yeah, like that's almost on purpose.
- 10:03Rick Costa: So that was almost.
- 10:04Rick Costa: That would just take me back.
- 10:05Rick Costa: I wouldn't be annoyed, unless I had it here every day.
- 10:09Rick Costa: Then I'd be like, okay, it's giving me a headache, where's my aspirin?
- 10:13Carmen Lezeth: Okay, what other pet peeve do you have?
- 10:16Rick Costa: People that can't clean a bus to themselves.
- 10:18Rick Costa: I can like their normal house and their mother works there.
- 10:21Rick Costa: You expect me to clean your mess?
- 10:24Carmen Lezeth: No, but you don't just tell them, I tell them.
- 10:30Rick Costa: I guess it depends on my relationship with them.
- 10:33Carmen Lezeth: Let me be very clear.
- 10:34Carmen Lezeth: If you are ever invited to my home, you will pick up after your damn self, because I am not your maid.
- 10:39Carmen Lezeth: I'll tell you to your face I don't care, that's where I'm mean, or whatever.
- 10:43Carmen Lezeth: Do you know what I mean?
- 10:44Carmen Lezeth: What do you think it says about you?
- 10:52Cynthia: He's a neat freak.
- 10:55Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 10:55Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if you're.
- 10:56Rick Costa: Are you a?
- 10:57Carmen Lezeth: neat freak.
- 10:59Rick Costa: I wouldn't say that.
- 11:00Carmen Lezeth: No, I think it's what you said earlier.
- 11:02Carmen Lezeth: I think all these things come down to maybe some type of being considerate, you know.
- 11:05Carmen Lezeth: So the thing that I was researching a little bit I didn't do a lot of research on it, but it's micro truths that come out right.
- 11:13Carmen Lezeth: There are things that we learn about ourselves, and here's the thing Do you ever do the same pet peeve that annoys you?
- 11:22Carmen Lezeth: Do you actually do it as well, is the next question or do you have any things that you do that other people might consider a pet peeve?
- 11:31Carmen Lezeth: So I use my directional all the time.
- 11:34Carmen Lezeth: I'm just going to say straight up all the time, whatever.
- 11:37Carmen Lezeth: However, I do sometimes, like all humans, make mistakes when I'm driving.
- 11:47Carmen Lezeth: So I love that.
- 11:48Carmen Lezeth: Most people think they're like everyone thinks they're the best driver on the planet, and I'm the complete opposite.
- 11:53Carmen Lezeth: Like I am going to drive the actual speed limit.
- 11:58Carmen Lezeth: I am not good.
- 11:59Carmen Lezeth: Like I might go five above or five under or whatever, but I'm not going to go 85 just because that's how the traffic's going, and I know that annoys people, but I don't love to drive.
- 12:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm a careful driver.
- 12:12Carmen Lezeth: The speed limit says 75, used to be 65.
- 12:17Carmen Lezeth: Now you're all going 85, 90.
- 12:18Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand, so I know I can see.
- 12:22Cynthia: Something is like uh-huh I know, but you keep the one behind you, like oh.
- 12:28Carmen Lezeth: They're going at me right, because I'm never going to be in that left lane over to the, you know, the one that Terry K always talks about.
- 12:36Carmen Lezeth: Don't be in this.
- 12:37Carmen Lezeth: The what's the, that's the lane he's in the travel lane.
- 12:40Carmen Lezeth: No, no, but he calls it the ticket money lane because you got ticket money.
- 12:43Carmen Lezeth: What?
- 12:43Carmen Lezeth: No, no, but he calls it the ticket money lane because you got ticket money.
- 12:45Carmen Lezeth: What was great about him when he did that?
- 12:47Carmen Lezeth: He's the.
- 12:47Carmen Lezeth: He's an influencer on TikTok Police officers.
- 12:51Carmen Lezeth: This was before ICE, everyone before ICE.
- 12:54Carmen Lezeth: But the police officers came out and you know and did, they did stitches with him on TikTok and they were laughing.
- 13:09Terry Kaye (Influencer): I thought this was common knowledge, but obviously not.
- 13:10Terry Kaye (Influencer): So let me teach some of y'all.
- 13:11Terry Kaye (Influencer): The left lane, also known as the fast lane, it's for people who have ticket money.
- 13:13Terry Kaye (Influencer): It's for people who have ticket money.
- 13:13Terry Kaye (Influencer): If you are going to follow the rules, follow the laws as you should.
- 13:17Terry Kaye (Influencer): That middle lane is reserved just for you.
- 13:20Terry Kaye (Influencer): It's yours.
- 13:21Terry Kaye (Influencer): If you are scared, if you're going to tiptoe, if you are hesitant, that far right lane is just for you.
- 13:29Terry Kaye (Influencer): Nobody else wants to be over there.
- 13:31Terry Kaye (Influencer): That is your area.
- 13:32Terry Kaye (Influencer): But by golly gee, do not get over in that far left lane, also known as the fast lane, tiptoe, because we're trying to him.
- 13:43Terry Kaye (Influencer): We have ticket money and even if we don't have ticket money, look, that's our burden to bear.
- 13:49Terry Kaye (Influencer): Don't get over here holding us up because you scared.
- 13:52Terry Kaye (Influencer): Now, middle lane if you're going to follow the rules.
- 13:55Terry Kaye (Influencer): Far right lane.
- 13:56Terry Kaye (Influencer): If you're scared, left lane, look your back.
- 14:01Carmen Lezeth: They're like yeah, don't be in the ticket because we're going to get you.
- 14:04Carmen Lezeth: So if you don't have ticket money, don't be in the because we're gonna get you.
- 14:06Carmen Lezeth: So if you don't have ticket money, don't be in that fast lane.
- 14:08Carmen Lezeth: So I I use my directional all the time, but I do go the speed limit.
- 14:14Rick Costa: Fight me and I actually stop at stop signs.
- 14:18Rick Costa: Fight me, yeah, I do in california.
- 14:21Carmen Lezeth: That's against the law.
- 14:22Carmen Lezeth: It has to be a rolling stop sign.
- 14:25Carmen Lezeth: I'm kidding, Nobody stops it.
- 14:27Carmen Lezeth: I mean we stop it Like, we kind of stop, Like we stop, but we're still rolling.
- 14:33Carmen Lezeth: You don't pause.
- 14:35Carmen Lezeth: It's a rolling stop sign.
- 14:37Carmen Lezeth: It's just.
- 14:38Carmen Lezeth: You know, everyone kind of does it.
- 14:40Carmen Lezeth: It's kind of the lie air, but you guys stop at your stop signs.
- 14:43Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, this is so boring but kind of funny conversation.
- 14:57Rick Costa: One thing I will say, though, about the blinkers is maybe the only time I won't do.
- 14:59Carmen Lezeth: It is if you are in a lane and there's only you can only turn one certain way.
- 15:01Carmen Lezeth: I think you should use it all the time, because I think that's where you make the mistake.
- 15:03Carmen Lezeth: If I'm coming out of the parking lot and there's only one way to go, it's habit.
- 15:06Carmen Lezeth: I'm not even thinking about it and I think the problem is people pick and choose when to use it.
- 15:10Carmen Lezeth: But if you just use it all the time, you're never going to not use it.
- 15:14Cynthia: But I think that's come naturally to you at that point.
- 15:21Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure the person in the Lamborghini was like ah, it's just a Honda, she's going to make sure she knows where she is around me.
- 15:25Carmen Lezeth: No big deal, I won't use it.
- 15:27Carmen Lezeth: I think if you start making excuses about it, that's what we get in trouble.
- 15:31Carmen Lezeth: Any other pet peeves?
- 15:35Cynthia: My old coworker, the one that got laid off.
- 15:37Cynthia: She used to burp like a truck driver.
- 15:42Cynthia: That's just bad manners.
- 15:45Cynthia: It's like, okay, everybody burped.
- 15:47Cynthia: You know what I mean.
- 15:48Cynthia: But there's also a little discreet way to do it.
- 15:51Cynthia: Sometimes you might let out a burping.
- 15:53Cynthia: Maybe she has a problem.
- 15:54Cynthia: She had a problem, all right, I bet you she watches our show.
- 16:00Cynthia: Just kidding, but she used to do it constantly and so loud and it was just like at some point it was just like okay, you know, you're doing it, you know.
- 16:14Carmen Lezeth: I just think people don't have manners and etiquette.
- 16:17Carmen Lezeth: I think that's what it is right Like, or people get too comfortable.
- 16:23Cynthia: Yeah, yeah, I made the one thing.
- 16:25Cynthia: You can do it around you know, family, friends, whatever you know but it's like you're doing it at work, I know, but I think she probably has a problem.
- 16:35Carmen Lezeth: I'm not defending her.
- 16:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm like that's kind of embarrassing, that's like farting or whatever, like pretending you're not.
- 16:44Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 16:44Carmen Lezeth: Like you know, I don't know if you ate something bad.
- 16:48Carmen Lezeth: Okay, this is going down a really bad way, I don't know whatever okay, rick, share with us your bodily issues.
- 16:59Rick Costa: I'm just kidding well, I was gonna say I know some people they do have a problem and they almost can't help it.
- 17:06Carmen Lezeth: But if you always stink, I don't think people know they have a problem?
- 17:13Rick Costa: no, you generally don't.
- 17:15Carmen Lezeth: But uh, like, I don't know, like, if you have to take a shower a few times a day, then do what you gotta do but people don't know, okay, the reason why I bring this up, because somebody came to me in one of the offices I worked in, I'm just gonna say, in the last few months, and they said that one of the other co-workers stinks all the time.
- 17:34Carmen Lezeth: I was like really, I never smell him.
- 17:36Carmen Lezeth: And they were like no, because you're not around him.
- 17:38Carmen Lezeth: We work with him all the time.
- 17:40Carmen Lezeth: And I'm like I don't think so.
- 17:42Carmen Lezeth: He's given me a hug before whatever.
- 17:44Carmen Lezeth: And then I'm like maybe an eye stick, maybe they're trying to tell me something.
- 17:48Rick Costa: The smells are combating each other.
- 17:50Carmen Lezeth: I was like wait a minute, I was freaking out.
- 17:53Carmen Lezeth: But then I realized, because I made it a point to like stand next to him in the kitchen or whatever, and I was like, oh, I see what they're saying.
- 18:04Carmen Lezeth: Now I smell what they're saying now I was like I don't know how to tiptoe on that one.
- 18:15Carmen Lezeth: I don't know how to deal with that one, like I don't know.
- 18:17Carmen Lezeth: And they were coming to me like can you take care of it?
- 18:20Carmen Lezeth: I'm like let me see my contract.
- 18:25Rick Costa: You had a hygiene tweet.
- 18:28Cynthia: I don't know.
- 18:29Cynthia: That's part of my job description.
- 18:31Carmen Lezeth: I know I'm here to fix problems, but that's a weird one.
- 18:35Carmen Lezeth: But, I started thinking about it.
- 18:38Carmen Lezeth: I've have conversations, like I've had conversations with women and men regarding dress attire.
- 18:46Carmen Lezeth: Like we've had some women in the couple and I'll say in the past few years where they've gone into, like they've come in to start a job and they're dressed in a way that is probably not.
- 19:00Carmen Lezeth: It's like it's like walking on eggs.
- 19:03Carmen Lezeth: Basically too much cleavage, too much ass, like just too much.
- 19:06Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 19:07Rick Costa: Like too much tightness.
- 19:09Rick Costa: It's an office, not a club.
- 19:11Carmen Lezeth: Right, and here's the thing you have to be very careful because you can't you know what I mean.
- 19:16Carmen Lezeth: Like, people have the right to dress however they want, and but not in our office.
- 19:22Carmen Lezeth: There is a dress code and we have it as part of our handbook that there is a dress code a lot of places.
- 19:29Carmen Lezeth: Don't you know what I mean?
- 19:30Carmen Lezeth: But it's still something.
- 19:32Carmen Lezeth: You have to be careful because everybody has their own style, and I have to say, like one woman that we had a conversation with and I say we because I had somebody else in the room with me right, there's a way you do it.
- 19:43Carmen Lezeth: You don't do it by yourself or whatever, you know.
- 19:45Carmen Lezeth: Um, she fabulous, if she was going to a club, you know what I mean like she was going out, you know like, she just like, but there was no need.
- 19:55Carmen Lezeth: You know, now I can't tell her not to wear.
- 19:58Carmen Lezeth: She was wearing like stilettos every day to work, like just, but you, I can't, you do you.
- 20:03Carmen Lezeth: That's fine, whatever, but the cleavage down to here.
- 20:07Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 20:08Carmen Lezeth: And so it was so difficult to have the conversation, but then she was like no, I get it, I get it, I'll do it.
- 20:17Carmen Lezeth: She was totally cool about it, because she wanted a job so badly.
- 20:20Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 20:21Carmen Lezeth: She had already gotten a job and she wanted to keep it.
- 20:23Carmen Lezeth: And I said here's the thing.
- 20:24Carmen Lezeth: You should be able to wear whatever you want.
- 20:27Carmen Lezeth: Whatever you want to wear should be the way it is, unfortunately, because we live in a country full of crazy people.
- 20:34Carmen Lezeth: So I turned around I said we need to be more aware of how we dress so that we don't have to deal with the crazy people.
- 20:44Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean and I'm so good at my job like, because it's true and but she was also very receptive, like I was lucky one of the men that came in.
- 20:51Carmen Lezeth: He was just wearing half shirts and he was like it's like, but I just came from the gym.
- 20:55Carmen Lezeth: Well, we don't, I get it.
- 20:56Carmen Lezeth: But I was like no, you have to wear.
- 20:57Carmen Lezeth: She's like no, but I have.
- 20:58Carmen Lezeth: I said not a.
- 20:58Carmen Lezeth: Well, we don't, I get it.
- 20:59Carmen Lezeth: But I was like no, you have to wear shades, like no, but I have.
- 21:01Carmen Lezeth: I said not a half shirt.
- 21:02Carmen Lezeth: No, I don't need to see your belly, like we need to, you need to clean up or something Like just, you have to have consideration.
- 21:09Carmen Lezeth: Going back to that word, people in the office, you know, if you don't have time to take a shower and get dressed or whatever, then you need to change the time you go work out because you need to be here at work.
- 21:21Carmen Lezeth: Is your gym paying your bill or are we paying your bills?
- 21:25Carmen Lezeth: I'm just trying to figure it out, because he had a little bit of an attitude and I was ready to be like that's all right, it's warning number one and we're going to fire your ass because you're not that great anyways, motherfucker, that was all deep down inside.
- 21:40Cynthia: I.
- 21:40Cynthia: That was all deep down inside.
- 21:41Cynthia: I hope you're not watching the show.
- 21:42Cynthia: Speaking on how to dress at work, I remember people coming in for an interview and wearing flip-flops and I'm like really, but what's your job?
- 21:54Carmen Lezeth: Where are they working in At a?
- 21:56Cynthia: hospital.
- 21:57Cynthia: Well, you can't wear open-toed shoes at all, right?
- 22:01Cynthia: You know what I mean.
- 22:02Cynthia: You're dealing with patients, you're dealing with medicines or whatever Like they're sharp objects, and you're wearing flip-flops to an injury.
- 22:10Carmen Lezeth: Can you say my feet smell?
- 22:11Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding, yeah, yeah, I mean, oh God, those are just bad fashion Cause they're ugly.
- 22:23Carmen Lezeth: Okay, um, no, but it's in the handbook.
- 22:26Carmen Lezeth: Like, I think the mistake people make is that people usually just take any and I'm not a hospital wouldn't do this but they'll.
- 22:33Carmen Lezeth: You know, people start a business and they'll just pull any random handbook off the internet to start their business or whatever, and they won't really read it and they won't really talk to a lawyer about it and you act.
- 22:47Carmen Lezeth: I mean, if you're having an at-home, remote job or it's different, but if you have an in office and you're hiring people, you need to make sure you cover all the bases.
- 22:51Carmen Lezeth: You know, now, I can't tell someone you're dressing too sexy, see, I can't say that because that's not, that's not objective and you know people may think me wearing a gap t-shirt is sexy.
- 23:03Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 23:06Carmen Lezeth: Ooh, carmen, that wrinkled neckline.
- 23:08Carmen Lezeth: That's why you can't say something like that.
- 23:13Carmen Lezeth: You have to be very objective about it, you know.
- 23:20Carmen Lezeth: But if you have it in the handbook and if you can put it towards the idea that, like we, we need to be able to be considerate of everyone in the office, you know, and this needs to be a place like as much as I love your outfit for the club where everyone be like hey, who's that here?
- 23:35Carmen Lezeth: We need to be like hey.
- 23:36Carmen Lezeth: We need to just work together and not be worried about the flashiness of it all.
- 23:40Carmen Lezeth: She still kept wearing her heels though.
- 23:43Carmen Lezeth: Hey, go ahead.
- 23:46Carmen Lezeth: Is there a day when you won't be able to still knock that shit out?
- 23:50Carmen Lezeth: I know because I used to wear them all the time.
- 23:52Carmen Lezeth: I never wore heels like that, though Three or four inches was enough for me.
- 23:59Rick Costa: This is actually an issue that comes up not to be religious, but in church too.
- 24:02Rick Costa: It's like girl if you bend over a little bit, something might pop out.
- 24:08Rick Costa: What are you doing?
- 24:08Rick Costa: You're in church, really.
- 24:10Carmen Lezeth: You're loving the Lord.
- 24:11Carmen Lezeth: What are you doing?
- 24:12Carmen Lezeth: Do you tell people in church they can't wear something?
- 24:17Rick Costa: If it's like a woman, they'll have a woman like an older woman say something.
- 24:22Rick Costa: Or if it's a man, I don't want to be the man really.
- 24:24Carmen Lezeth: So it usually would be like a young person wearing something out of line probably right.
- 24:28Terry Kaye (Influencer): That's funny.
- 24:30Carmen Lezeth: It's always the young kids who don't understand.
- 24:32Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so I never did go and talk to that person about them smelling, but I did have.
- 24:40Carmen Lezeth: Well, first of all, I didn't know he smelled, so I don't work with him.
- 24:44Carmen Lezeth: So I don't care, not my department, but um, but I did talk to the group of men who worked with him and said you know what, maybe you could do it one of two ways.
- 24:57Carmen Lezeth: The first way is to talk about your own showering habits.
- 25:01Carmen Lezeth: I don't mean like so, guys, what do you do when you shower?
- 25:05Carmen Lezeth: I don't mean like that, just be like God.
- 25:09Carmen Lezeth: I missed my shower this morning.
- 25:11Carmen Lezeth: Do I smell?
- 25:12Carmen Lezeth: I shower every morning without fail.
- 25:14Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 25:15Carmen Lezeth: You do it like that.
- 25:18Rick Costa: I just got a new body wash that smells so, so good.
- 25:20Rick Costa: Have you ever tried this body wash?
- 25:22Carmen Lezeth: exactly, yeah, that's how you do it, so that's how I told them all to go about it to be make it more about what we all, because some people just don't know.
- 25:31Rick Costa: Yeah, you know, I at first one.
- 25:34Rick Costa: Make sure it wasn't me it wasn't me.
- 25:37Carmen Lezeth: Okay, you know it's him everybody.
- 25:39Carmen Lezeth: You know it's him.
- 25:39Rick Costa: Go ahead I had a friend, that very large person, say that way and, yes, they did kind of have this issue and so somebody thought I'm gonna give him a big hint and be anonymous about it and they gift wrapped and when he opened that up he was heated that's not nice I was like that's what I'm saying.
- 26:02Rick Costa: It wasn't me.
- 26:03Rick Costa: He was heated.
- 26:04Carmen Lezeth: I was like, oh, that's that's mean but also, I mean, first of all, it was a bad way to do it, but secondly, they probably still got the point.
- 26:12Carmen Lezeth: And I think when you're bigger and look, it's not even bigger.
- 26:17Carmen Lezeth: I have, as I've gotten older, some areas that flap over that never flapped over before my poor boobs.
- 26:28Carmen Lezeth: So you know you sweat a little bit, you gotta wipe a little bit and you know you gotta do some damage.
- 26:35Carmen Lezeth: But that's how I would approach that, right, I would go up to that person and and make it about I.
- 26:38Carmen Lezeth: But that's how I would approach that, right, I would go up to that person and make it about I think that's the thing is that the best way to help other people, especially when it's an embarrassing thing, is to make it about you.
- 26:51Carmen Lezeth: But that requires empathy and we lack that in this country.
- 26:55Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if it's just this country, but this society.
- 26:57Carmen Lezeth: We are so divorced of having empathy and sympathy that we don't seem to be able to do it.
- 27:04Carmen Lezeth: We just get mad at other people in a Lamborghini.
- 27:07Carmen Lezeth: We don't think that maybe they were just having a bad day and they forgot, and maybe it's not really their Lamborghini.
- 27:15Carmen Lezeth: You know what dawned on me too.
- 27:16Carmen Lezeth: I was like because I work with so many people that own a lot of these stupid cars and I was like they don't drive them.
- 27:23Carmen Lezeth: Their maintenance people will drive them or bring them.
- 27:26Carmen Lezeth: Or I'm like what if it wasn't?
- 27:30Cynthia: You know what I?
- 27:33Carmen Lezeth: mean.
- 27:33Carmen Lezeth: And then I'm like you know what?
- 27:36Carmen Lezeth: Now I feel better about it.
- 27:37Carmen Lezeth: It's okay, go ahead, enjoy your fun drive.
- 27:39Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, but just being more empathetic and sympathetic about things I think would make it easier.
- 27:48Rick Costa: One that's for me.
- 27:49Rick Costa: If you use the last bit of toilet paper and you don't put the new roll in, it's going to be me and you.
- 27:59Rick Costa: It's right there, You're not going to know it was me.
- 28:02Carmen Lezeth: You're not going to know it was me.
- 28:05Rick Costa: I hate that.
- 28:07Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but do you do the toilet paper up or down?
- 28:10Rick Costa: I had a feeling you were going to say that.
- 28:13Carmen Lezeth: Because there's only one right way to do it.
- 28:15Rick Costa: There was a whole episode about that.
- 28:17Carmen Lezeth: It's over.
- 28:18Rick Costa: Yeah, I do over.
- 28:21Carmen Lezeth: Why do didn't do it?
- 28:21Carmen Lezeth: There was a whole show about that it's over.
- 28:23Cynthia: Yeah, I do over.
- 28:24Carmen Lezeth: Why do people do it under?
- 28:25Carmen Lezeth: That don't even make no sense.
- 28:26Carmen Lezeth: It doesn't whatever okay, very weird.
- 28:27Cynthia: All right, another pet peeve of mine.
- 28:29Cynthia: Hey, um, cars that have sound systems that are just way too loud.
- 28:36Cynthia: People are sitting in the car.
- 28:37Cynthia: You cannot even hear the song.
- 28:40Cynthia: All you hear or feel actually is boom, boom, boom.
- 28:44Cynthia: You can't even enjoy the song I don't get that Okay.
- 28:50Carmen Lezeth: So I'm going to say something.
- 28:52Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I agree with you.
- 28:53Carmen Lezeth: I agree with you.
- 28:53Carmen Lezeth: However, I have my old Honda Civic Hybrid and I don't have a new stereo system in it at all, whatever.
- 29:01Carmen Lezeth: But I remember when I lived on 21st Street.
- 29:04Carmen Lezeth: I think you came to my apartment when I lived on 21st Street I would always I had my own garage.
- 29:09Carmen Lezeth: That was the kind of cool part of that apartment complexes, it's like that was like a whole other.
- 29:13Carmen Lezeth: You can have a whole other apartment in there.
- 29:18Carmen Lezeth: I didn't realize that when I pulled in and I had my music blaring or whatever, because I felt like I have my windows up, no one can hear it Like.
- 29:26Carmen Lezeth: My neighbors came down one day.
- 29:28Carmen Lezeth: They were like Carmen, we love you, we think you're a great person.
- 29:33Carmen Lezeth: I was like what happened?
- 29:35Carmen Lezeth: What?
- 29:35Carmen Lezeth: Like I thought they were going to give me a gift or something.
- 29:37Carmen Lezeth: I'm like.
- 29:38Carmen Lezeth: They're like, can you please stop listening to your music so loud in your car and then drive into the?
- 29:44Carmen Lezeth: I'm like.
- 29:45Carmen Lezeth: I had no idea.
- 29:46Carmen Lezeth: They're like I said, but the windows are up.
- 29:49Carmen Lezeth: They're like carmen, it's like you're in our living room.
- 29:51Carmen Lezeth: We can hear it.
- 29:52Carmen Lezeth: It's like a.
- 29:53Carmen Lezeth: Then the husband was like you bought a new, like a new surround system or something for your car, right?
- 30:01Carmen Lezeth: But all they hear is the boom, boom, boom, like, oh my god, old school, I shouldn't say that because people will try to steal it, but it is pretty loud so I don't do that anymore.
- 30:12Carmen Lezeth: I don't have it loud anymore, but I didn't know, wow.
- 30:16Cynthia: Yeah, but see, you didn't know.
- 30:17Cynthia: These other people know They've got all the windows down and they're doing it on purpose.
- 30:23Cynthia: Oh yeah, no yeah.
- 30:24Cynthia: Like I was on the bus the other day and you could feel it through the bus, I was like, yeah, that's just way too much.
- 30:33Carmen Lezeth: Unless it's a good song that I agree with and I'm okay with it.
- 30:37Rick Costa: That's my problem.
- 30:38Rick Costa: If this is like, this is my jam.
- 30:40Rick Costa: If I can't hear myself singing, it's not loud enough.
- 30:47Carmen Lezeth: I walked across the street the other day and somebody had their music up.
- 30:50Carmen Lezeth: What were they playing?
- 30:51Carmen Lezeth: I can't remember.
- 30:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh, did a little boo thing.
- 30:55Carmen Lezeth: I walked across like dancing.
- 31:00Carmen Lezeth: I was such a dork.
- 31:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure other people didn't appreciate it, but I was like that's a good sound Cause I got a bounce to it, you know.
- 31:09Cynthia: Yeah.
- 31:12Carmen Lezeth: I agree with you and people do.
- 31:14Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's too much, especially when people have it, you know.
- 31:17Carmen Lezeth: They clearly have bought a new stereo system so that everyone can hear the music they listen to.
- 31:22Carmen Lezeth: And how come it's never someone who listens to like classical or orchestra, you know what I mean.
- 31:27Carmen Lezeth: It's always like hard rock or rap or heavy metal.
- 31:31Carmen Lezeth: It's always something I don't want to listen to.
- 31:33Carmen Lezeth: So true, I'm sorry that's so true.
- 31:47Rick Costa: I'm sorry.
- 31:48Rick Costa: What about people that take forever to respond back to a text or email, when you know they are always on their phone?
- 31:51Rick Costa: They're ghosting you with them.
- 31:52Rick Costa: They're always on the phone.
- 31:53Terry Kaye (Influencer): I didn't see it bro, you was, I'm with you.
- 31:56Terry Kaye (Influencer): You were always on your phone, which means you didn't see it right?
- 32:02Carmen Lezeth: yeah, but people have different.
- 32:04Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I don't know, I shouldn't say what people do, but I have different chimes and different rings for everybody, so if I hear a certain one, I can wait.
- 32:12Carmen Lezeth: I guess that's not nice.
- 32:17Cynthia: I know the reason why she doesn't respond.
- 32:19Carmen Lezeth: I respond to everyone's texts at minimum within 24 hours, but I always.
- 32:25Carmen Lezeth: When have you ever waited for me to respond to your texts?
- 32:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh, never, never, I respond, Rick.
- 32:33Carmen Lezeth: Have you ever texted me and I not responded?
- 32:36Rick Costa: Always.
- 32:37Carmen Lezeth: Always, I always.
- 32:38Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I'm, I don't know why people, you know people like oh my God, I get so many emails.
- 32:43Carmen Lezeth: That's why I didn't get back to you, shut the fuck up.
- 32:44Carmen Lezeth: I've had five or six clients at one time, staff offices of like 20 and 30 in each office people emailing me.
- 32:52Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 32:52Carmen Lezeth: I still get to my emails when my friends email me.
- 32:55Carmen Lezeth: But that's just me, you do, you.
- 32:59Carmen Lezeth: I have a system, though I don't think people because I'm ridiculously organized, but you know, from like 8am to four o'clock I do business emails and then anything after that is personal.
- 33:12Carmen Lezeth: So I close that off.
- 33:14Carmen Lezeth: I don't have emails mixing in.
- 33:16Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 33:18Carmen Lezeth: So for me it's really easy.
- 33:20Carmen Lezeth: So that's why I always get back to my friends or whatever so, and I only do an hour each, like morning, and then hour at night and get back to emails, okay, so you all know my trick now.
- 33:29Rick Costa: So there, it is why I think dios what if you're like in a doctor's office right, you're surrounded by strangers.
- 33:35Rick Costa: You don't know any of these people.
- 33:36Rick Costa: You're maybe already a little bit agitated and you hear what's that?
- 33:42Rick Costa: Exactly somebody doing that.
- 33:46Rick Costa: It's like, oh my god, please, for the love of god, stop.
- 33:49Rick Costa: But it's a stranger.
- 33:50Rick Costa: So it's like what do you do?
- 33:51Carmen Lezeth: okay, wait, that really bothers you the sighing who does that?
- 34:01Carmen Lezeth: do I do, that do I do that I do that sometimes yeah, rick does the sighing and I was like, and then I'm like is that what jesus would do?
- 34:15Carmen Lezeth: Is that what jesus would do?
- 34:16Carmen Lezeth: That's what that's always my rebuttal.
- 34:19Carmen Lezeth: Is that how Jesus would react?
- 34:21Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if tapping bothers me.
- 34:25Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I guess it depends on where I'm at.
- 34:26Carmen Lezeth: Like I told you, when I'm in an office, in an intimate office, like there's three of us sharing a shoebox and somebody's you know phone is ringing and they're texting and you can hear it click, click, Like I don't I text without the clicking.
- 34:39Carmen Lezeth: Like I don't I text without the clicking like I don't understand why you would do that.
- 34:48Carmen Lezeth: It drives me insane.
- 34:48Carmen Lezeth: And then they get upset with me because I asked them to turn off the sound.
- 34:50Carmen Lezeth: Like I hate when you're here, I'm like, okay, well, I'm gonna still be here, so turn off your fucking phone, I don't care.
- 34:53Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't care.
- 34:54Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, those are my things I don't know.
- 34:57Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 34:57Carmen Lezeth: I think if it's a stranger and it's really bothering me, I might be cute about it.
- 35:01Carmen Lezeth: I tell people.
- 35:03Carmen Lezeth: I know I'm bad, I'm blunt.
- 35:08Cynthia: My thing is early in the morning.
- 35:11Cynthia: Why do people feel the need to have a virtual or FaceTime and talk so loud?
- 35:21Carmen Lezeth: Wait, I don't know what you're talking about.
- 35:22Cynthia: Who's doing that?
- 35:23Cynthia: People waiting for the shuttle or on the bus or walking anywhere, and they're talking so loud in their FaceTime.
- 35:32Cynthia: It's 7am.
- 35:34Cynthia: Who the hell are you talking to?
- 35:35Cynthia: Shouldn't they be at work too?
- 35:37Carmen Lezeth: Maybe somebody in another country, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I know, I don't know, I don't walk.
- 35:45Carmen Lezeth: So there are things I don't do that other people do, that I still.
- 35:49Carmen Lezeth: I don't even think it's about coordination.
- 35:50Carmen Lezeth: I just think I don't think people have learned how not to use their phones all the time.
- 35:56Carmen Lezeth: We always talk about kids.
- 35:57Carmen Lezeth: It's not kids, it's adults who have the problem.
- 35:59Carmen Lezeth: The problem.
- 35:59Carmen Lezeth: I see people walking across the street.
- 36:02Carmen Lezeth: I'll be in my car and they're.
- 36:04Carmen Lezeth: They haven't even looked up, they're stepping off the curb and they're still texting.
- 36:08Carmen Lezeth: And in my head I'm like I just don't trust car.
- 36:11Carmen Lezeth: I don't trust other people so much that I'm gonna be okay with you, hoping that you're gonna stop your car so that I can walk gracefully across the street.
- 36:21Carmen Lezeth: Like I don't trust nobody.
- 36:24Cynthia: Like today I'm coming home and this girl is literally on the bus talking really loud on her phone to a credit card company about some charges that were on her phone, and then she's saying her credit card number out loud.
- 36:37Cynthia: Are you an idiot?
- 36:39Cynthia: These are personal calls.
- 36:42Carmen Lezeth: There are no rules on the see, because when I used to take the bus and the trolling stuff, you didn't, we didn't have phones.
- 36:48Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, there's no rules that you can like in restaurants.
- 36:53Carmen Lezeth: You can't have your phone on.
- 36:55Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 36:55Carmen Lezeth: Like no, there's no rules.
- 36:57Carmen Lezeth: Oh see, but again, it's consideration.
- 37:00Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but you're expecting people need rules then right, so I'm just saying this is one of those moments where I would personally send a letter to the mayor and to the mbta or whatever it's.
- 37:13Carmen Lezeth: What's it called in in massachusetts?
- 37:15Cynthia: no, it wasn't even the regular t, it was our shuttle bus, the employee shuttle, oh, that's even worse.
- 37:21Carmen Lezeth: Well, you should talk to.
- 37:23Carmen Lezeth: I thought you meant like public transportation, no, it was our employee shuttle.
- 37:28Cynthia: It's like you have a bus full of people and you're saying your credit card number.
- 37:33Carmen Lezeth: I'll allow you really trust these employees why don't you, just why don't you send the?
- 37:36Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 37:37Carmen Lezeth: You send them the link to the show.
- 37:39Carmen Lezeth: This is a problem, seriously.
- 37:45Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I thought you were talking about the regular tea, I'm like that.
- 37:49Carmen Lezeth: I think there were rules.
- 37:50Carmen Lezeth: You can't do that.
- 37:51Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 37:52Carmen Lezeth: I haven't been on a on a.
- 37:54Carmen Lezeth: I haven't been in a in a long time, even in a place where normally people don't talk loud, in a bus in a long time.
- 38:01Rick Costa: Even in a place where normally people don't talk loud, and I don't mean a library, that's obvious, but like a grocery store, for example, Like I don't need to hear that.
- 38:15Carmen Lezeth: You know what Restaurant people do that, that I am.
- 38:24Carmen Lezeth: Don't be in the grocery store with me and be in line and get mad at the cashier because your ass is on the phone and you didn't hear her when she said 42, whatever.
- 38:29Carmen Lezeth: And then I have told like I cannot tell you.
- 38:31Carmen Lezeth: I almost wait for it.
- 38:32Carmen Lezeth: I get in line just to wait to see who the motherfucker is that's going to do this shit.
- 38:37Carmen Lezeth: I will defend the cash cashier.
- 38:39Carmen Lezeth: That drives me insane.
- 38:41Carmen Lezeth: I tend to use my phone in the grocery store, not to be on the phone, but because I use my coupons with my phone.
- 38:48Carmen Lezeth: But I think, being on the, I don't.
- 38:51Carmen Lezeth: People try to multitask and people there's no such thing as multitasking.
- 38:55Carmen Lezeth: Everyone thinks they can multitask, but that's not how the brain works and what you're doing is everything half-assed at the same time.
- 39:02Carmen Lezeth: That's what you're doing instead of focusing on one thing.
- 39:05Carmen Lezeth: But I do think one of the things that we can take away from this is consideration, empathy, sympathy and just trying to be more considerate of other people, because you're annoying Cynthia with your chewing.
