- 0:15Amber Kuhn: Hello TPR Nation this is Amber Kuhn. Thank you
- 0:18for joining me on today's Follow up Friday where I'll be
- 0:21recapping this week's episode highlights and action items on
- 0:25Monday and that was joined once again by Lisa from BELAY to talk
- 0:29about the peace of mind that delegation can create in your
- 0:32life. Lisa shared how BELAY does an annual survey with their
- 0:36clients and one of the things they kept coming across in the
- 0:39responses. Were comments from clients that by using one of
- 0:43their virtual assistants or bookkeepers, that it creates
- 0:46such incredible peace of mind and the opportunity to be able
- 0:50to do the things they love to do, whether it's traveling more
- 0:53even going to their kids sporting events, Matt brought up
- 0:57that with those things that you're handing over to someone
- 1:00else. It's not that you're ignoring things, but it's being
- 1:04taken care of by someone who's really good at that particular
- 1:07thing and taking care of things so that you don't have to worry
- 1:11about it. And in the end things actually get done. And your VA
- 1:15can also protect you and your time so that you're not
- 1:18constantly reacting to things and you're able to be at your
- 1:22best. And even from a risk management side met said that
- 1:25it's so important to have a bookkeeper to take care of your
- 1:29books. Because if you're the only one who's doing your
- 1:32finances you're going to miss the details. A bookkeeper loves
- 1:35looking up as details and they'll notice the things that
- 1:39you might not give you a different perspective and of
- 1:42course it allows you to protect yourself. Man Lisa also talked
- 1:46about your mindset when it comes to delegation. And I'll people
- 1:49might look at a task they hate doing and just assume that
- 1:53everyone else hates doing it too, and therefore end up
- 1:56feeling bad handing that over to another person. But that isn't
- 2:00the case. There are people who thrive in that particular
- 2:03environment and they like helping small businesses and
- 2:07those who struggle. They are there to elevate your business
- 2:10and leverage their skill set. It's also easy to say I'll hire
- 2:14someone when the problem with that is that Mark can
- 2:17consistently move or appoint. So as far as when it's the right
- 2:20time to bring on a virtual assistant. Lisa said at a
- 2:24minimum you need to have money be able to write the check, but
- 2:27also look at the little things in your life and where you are
- 2:31with things like your lawn work and housekeeping. If you say
- 2:35that you can just do those things because it's cheaper than
- 2:38just you're gonna have a hard time learning to delegate. But
- 2:42BELAY has to offer packages where people can start out with
- 2:45one thing and then grow over time with what they need and
- 2:49what they feel comfortable delegating, not sort of foolish
- 2:52to not take advantage of who can really help and in a way that
- 2:56you don't have to deal with the overhead cost that comes with a
- 3:00full time person. And you also have the option of someone who
- 3:03can scale up with you or scale back if needed, and Assistant
- 3:07can even help with some of those personal things. That you feel
- 3:11like you should do or even remember, maybe it's the kids
- 3:14doctor's appointments or sending flowers to someone. But that may
- 3:18not be your area of genius, but by having someone else handle
- 3:22those things where that is their area of genius. Overall that
- 3:25makes things better for everyone leaves us of learning to do this
- 3:29is a muscle you need to utilize and grow. But another benefit is
- 3:33that by delegate you're also helping your assistant grow. For
- 3:37example, Lisa will meet with her assistant quarterly to review
- 3:40what she enjoyed doing the most and what she wants to do more
- 3:44of. She said she becomes a better leader by doing this and
- 3:47it also creates job satisfaction for her assistant. So having
- 3:51that open dialogue will really help you delegate more. And as
- 3:55far as meeting with assistants, Lisa said that for her she does
- 3:59a weekly hour long zoom call with her assistant. Is there a
- 4:02completely virtual team and they'll review what's happening
- 4:06in the next seven to 10 days. And Lisa also has a running task
- 4:09list.
- 4:12And then she gets quarterly and these are check ins to review
- 4:16promises and expectations and go for what's working and what
- 4:20isn't. This helps to build trust because Lisa looks at her
- 4:23assistant as an extension of her and her assistant is able to
- 4:27grow her skill set and also give Lisa peace of mind. Let's get an
- 4:32action items. Consider some of your tasks that you could easily
- 4:36hit overturn assistant such as email and calendaring and any
- 4:40personal appointments as well. And then text RIA to 55123 to
- 4:44get BELAY's ebook on delegation, which includes a checklist of
- 4:48the things that you need to delegate. On Thursday, Jamie was
- 4:52talking about how your vocation needs to pay for your
- 4:55application. She pointed out that the current state of social
- 4:59media and people claiming that they can just be all taking all
- 5:03these adventures if they just had a better work life balance,
- 5:07that it's created this false sense of reality. And
- 5:10entitlement that your job should fulfill your happiness. But your
- 5:15employer isn't responsible for your happiness. You are
- 5:18responsible for your happiness and you have to choose to be
- 5:22happy. Now it's possible to find happiness in your job. But
- 5:26again, it isn't anyone's responsibility to make you happy
- 5:30with the work that you're doing. But right now we've said over
- 5:34and over again is to live your dream and find your passion. And
- 5:38that's what your career should then be. But Jamie said that the
- 5:42following your passion or your grandparents and billionaires
- 5:46while everyone else who's raising you is telling you to
- 5:49outwork. Jamie also said that by getting to where she is now in
- 5:54mastering delegation, she can then buy back her time to do the
- 5:58recreational things she wants to do. She's said that people don't
- 6:02spend enough time strategically focused on their recovery. And
- 6:06then if you don't know how to recover, you won't sustain
- 6:10growth. She said to consider when was the last time that
- 6:13you've thought about what truly refills your cup? What time are
- 6:17you carving out for yourself each week? So people give
- 6:21themselves a lot of reasons why they can't do things that very
- 6:25few reasons why they can. Jamie said you should grind so hard
- 6:29professionally that you're able to be whatever you choose. So
- 6:33you can then go do all the things you want to do with your
- 6:37discretionary income. And to stop always looking for your
- 6:40occupation or for your employer to be directly responsible for
- 6:44your happiness. find other ways to be happy. Let's get an action
- 6:49items. Do a self assessment for ways that refill your cup and
- 6:53look for how in when do you get the most joy and for the people
- 6:57in your life? Whether it's your spouse or your family, look at
- 7:01where they are applying these same techniques and doing this
- 7:05in their lives so that they can be better make sure that you're
