- 0:00Happy Monday morning, everybody. Yesterday, on Sunday, they
- 0:08played football. You know, the NFL had their
- 0:12playoff games and all the games were exciting.
- 0:17Dale Earnhardt Junior is very happy.
- 0:20His Washington Redskins, they they won an exciting one with a
- 0:25field goal. So congratulations to Dale
- 0:28Junior, darn it. The Packers went out right away,
- 0:33got beat. Go, pack, go.
- 0:40We got a lot of family up there. And who doesn't love the
- 0:44Packers? The Packers are as genuine as
- 0:47you can get. So anyway, hey Wallace, what do
- 0:50you talk about? The NFL for Maine?
- 0:55OK, so on Fox they are doing big time commercials with Joseph
- 1:05Newgarden for the IndyCar Series for the 2025 season.
- 1:13Well, as I was scrolling the newspaper social media, you
- 1:20know, back in the day, you'd read the newspaper and you would
- 1:23turn the pages. So as I was reading social media
- 1:29and I was turning the pages, I see in the in the sections there
- 1:35in the comments section, there's a lot of pissed off NASCAR fans.
- 1:41How dare Fox TV advertises the IndyCar Series.
- 1:47What about us? What about NASCAR?
- 1:55It so it made me think I thought, well, that's that's
- 2:00some content. That's a storyline right?
- 2:02There is a is can will Fox be able to cover both series?
- 2:13Will they make the NASCAR fans jealous?
- 2:16They already have. I know everybody at Fox,
- 2:22obviously, right? I worked there for 15 years.
- 2:27I I think they're a big enough company that they can handle it
- 2:30all. Although it was amusing to me
- 2:35that all of a sudden it it falls right in line with what I said
- 2:40there a month or so ago. I can talk bad about my sport,
- 2:44but don't you talk bad about my sport.
- 2:49Well, nobody's talking bad here, but it was a really good
- 2:53commercial. By the way, you know, I, I had a
- 2:56talk with Joseph Newgarden down at the Nashville, the concrete
- 3:02track. You know, we did trackside live.
- 3:05What a good guy. And I said, Joseph, I said, you
- 3:09look so Russian. You know, you got that square
- 3:12face. You look Russian.
- 3:14Are you Russian? Joseph Newgarden?
- 3:18He said no, I'm born and raised in Nashville, TN.
- 3:24That was a good one. But that's what the commercial
- 3:27was kind of based around. It was based around Joseph
- 3:32Newgarden being the man kind of like, you know, you know, the,
- 3:39the beer man, you know, he's perfect.
- 3:41You had Joseph a Newgarden, you know, he does everything perfect
- 3:45and he's a beautiful man. And then all of a sudden Tom
- 3:49Brady, Tom Brady, it's a good commercial, a lot of money
- 3:52involved in it. Then Tom Brady goes, hey, cuz
- 3:55you know, Tom Brady, good looking guy too.
- 3:58So basically it was a, it was a unique way, but I think it was a
- 4:01good way to build superstars instead of doing one big ass
- 4:06commercial on the whole sport. I think I liked it.
- 4:11They, they focused on on one guy and it's like, Hey, let's build
- 4:15a superstar. Joseph Newgarden.
- 4:17I think it worked. It worked.
- 4:19Plus he he's won Indianapolis 5 hundreds back-to-back.
- 4:24So, you know, there's an old there's an old joke in IndyCar
- 4:28after the Indy 500 is over, everybody says, oh, do you do
- 4:32you all keep racing? It is a series.
- 4:37So they need some help Now, you know, Fox is going to continue
- 4:43covering, you know, NASCAR. And I got to tell you, I just
- 4:50want to drop this in there. This has really nothing to do,
- 4:54but it does have everything to do.
- 4:56I'm a little worried about the economy right now, man, that
- 4:59that stock market has been on, has been losing for like 2 weeks
- 5:03in a row. And a little birdie's telling
- 5:05me, I'm not going to tell you who it is, but he's, he's an ex
- 5:10CEO. He's retired now, but he's no
- 5:12dummy. He said that car sales are down,
- 5:17things aren't looking good. You know, some of these smart
- 5:21people, they can sense when things are coming.
- 5:23And I'm hoping that when this new administration gets in here
- 5:27in a couple weeks at somebody turns the switch on, turns the
- 5:31lights on real quick because, you know, Kyle Petty said it
- 5:35best. He says you can tell how things
- 5:37are going. Just watch the stock market.
- 5:39Stock market's been losing, losing, losing.
- 5:43So I am worried a little bit about NASCAR right now because
- 5:49NASCAR, you know, takes a lot of money, takes a lot of money.
- 5:54So thank God for these TV companies.
- 5:58You know, NASCAR's not going anywhere.
- 6:02NASCAR's not going anywhere. Because FOX, remember, I've
- 6:05been, I've been preaching this to all of you, FOX, FOX TV paid
- 6:10NASCAR billions of dollars. So you know, the, the money's
- 6:17going to be there. But I am worried about these
- 6:19teams now. NASCAR might not be selling
- 6:22sponsorships right now with the way they're used to.
- 6:27This is what my informant told me that, you know, they're,
- 6:31they're having a little tough time selling some sponsorships.
- 6:34But on the other hand, I see the race teams over here doing quite
- 6:39well, you know, so we will see. I, I see, you know, Monster
- 6:46Energy drink sponsoring herpes. Tyler was at herpes.
- 6:50But they own a lot of gas stations out on the West Coast.
- 6:53So I'm sure that was a good trade.
- 6:55Of course, we got Front Row Motorsports starting a new team,
- 7:00you know, so I mean, we, we got Brad Koslowski starting a new
- 7:04team with RFK. So it seems to me that the car
- 7:09count is very healthy, right? I mean, we got a record amount
- 7:13of cars here lately going to the Daytona 500.
- 7:17Remember the Helio Castroneves deal?
- 7:21He's he's locked in because he's considered an international
- 7:25superstar. So we will see everybody and I
- 7:32and I think Fox TV can handle both series, the IndyCar Series
- 7:39there. Listen, their Indy 500 has
- 7:43always been exciting. That passed by Joseph Newgarden
- 7:47in turn 3 on the last lap. That was exciting.
- 7:50And remember I interviewed Michael Andretti on Kenny
- 7:54conversation that I talked to Michael Andretti on Kenny
- 7:59Conversation. And if you go back through Kenny
- 8:01conversation, Michael Andretti said Rodger Penske, those guys
- 8:06over there, Jay Fry, they just don't have the money.
- 8:10They don't have any money to advertise.
- 8:13Last year at that Alabama race, they only had like 168,000
- 8:18people watching. So I, I like IndyCar racing, but
- 8:24they got a long way to go. Let's see.
- 8:27I think it's going to be easy and there's no telling what Fox
- 8:31paid for IndyCar. I'm assuming they paid a normal
- 8:35price. I'm sure Rodger Penske, I'm sure
- 8:38as wealthy as he is. First things first, let's get
- 8:43some TV coverage for IndyCar, OK?
- 8:46But I'll be honest. I'll be very honest.
- 8:49I love IndyCar and like all those guys.
- 8:51I just don't think it's as exciting as NASCAR now.
- 8:56Respond right here. All right, I'm getting ready to
- 9:00do Herman Schrader with Kenny Schrader here in a little bit.
- 9:05Happy Monday, everybody.
