- 1:31need you is that fair or solid? I think that's fair.
- 1:34That's what and just to add to what my brother co-host.
- 1:38Adam and Gokul said, don't forget to subscribe.
- 1:41That's very important because your engagement keeps this
- 1:44conversation alive. Now I'm at I have a million
- 1:47pound question for you. It's similar but you're not
- 1:49going to earn him. An impasse You never know, maybe
- 1:52God inshallah one day will write this down for you, I really
- 1:54hope. But the main question is, I have
- 1:57for you, right now, is what are we talking about on this podcast
- 2:00in particular today? Today we are talking about money
- 2:05and how we make money and how we spend money and our relationship
- 2:10with money. I think it's a really important
- 2:14topic that is, it is important. And I believe, you know, they
- 2:16say money makes the world go round, but inshallah, the
- 2:19viewers listeners, they don't rely heavily.
- 2:21Early on money itself. However, I have another million
- 2:24dollar question. Miss Willa million pounds
- 2:26million pound question living in the UK.
- 2:28Yeah, you know the phrase always million dollars.
- 2:30Best general question here. Yeah.
- 2:33What do you do at MIT? What do I do?
- 2:35Yes in terms of outside of community terms of work?
- 2:38Yeah. As an you are amazing you know
- 2:40you're always involved heavily involved in the community you
- 2:42know, the service they do to everyone.
- 2:45Like what not mashallah. I see you never know, almost
- 2:47every Center, you know, running around with charity.
- 2:51He's you know, helping those in need any, but you always always
- 2:55active, you're on the field and having direct impact on the
- 2:58community, that's very good. So the community only know this
- 3:00about you. Well they don't know what you
- 3:03do. I like what you do.
- 3:05Just tell ya I mean thank you for putting me on the spot just
- 3:09to quickly summarize in terms of my professional work.
- 3:12I started work at a young age 16.
- 3:15I'm now in my mid-20s, I've had a very interesting career
- 3:17trajectory I started work at 16. My first job, I had a really
- 3:21labor-intensive job in a sports shop was running really low
- 3:24wages and worked really hard but it taught me a lot of lessons.
- 3:27I then completed, my studies worked out of bait TV on and
- 3:31that time I was very interested in, of course, media and human
- 3:33rights and politics. I worked a mainstream media
- 3:36firm, a news channel and then it'll work at the United Nations
- 3:40as well. I'd go a lot for a couple of
- 3:42years and then I kind of took a U-turn.
- 3:44Now I'm in business. So I work with my family and my
- 3:48father's business and handle of things have grown.
- 3:51Did the law and a log, we've opened other businesses other
- 3:54companies, but within the same sort of field and that field is
- 3:58in shipping and freight which my family been involved with for a
- 4:01very long time and you know, one grows up and thinks I want to be
- 4:06a shipping expert when I grow up everyone thinks I want to be a
- 4:10footballer. I want to be an actor, I want to
- 4:12be a doctor but you know, subhanallah somehow what I felt
- 4:16was meant for me is come to me ma sha Allah and that's amazing
- 4:20to hear by the Way and as in just from from when you're 16 to
- 4:24where you are now that is a huge journey and ask Allah subhanahu
- 4:28wa'ta'ala to give you more tour featured on this journey
- 4:30inshallah about you. I was dreading you the asterisk
- 4:35or ya know you're involved again likewise in so many different
- 4:39things, everyone knows you for the incredible work, you do in
- 4:42the field of recitation and as a daddy and English language and
- 4:46Beyond and not many of us know about your Outside of the
- 4:51community life. Yeah, I get asked this question
- 4:54quite a lot and I try to keep my private life on the non the
- 5:00public. But what I do about me if you're
- 5:03wondering, if anyone watching listening to this podcast is
- 5:05wondering, I started a bit similar to you.
- 5:08I was 16 when I first started my job, I had my first job was in
- 5:12a. Was that travel agency?
- 5:14Nice. And, you know, I was involved in
- 5:16like booking tickets, taking customer inquiries Etc handle.
- 5:19I loved it because it was mainly booking.
- 5:21Flights to people going to the auditor lock.
- 5:23So for me, that was amazing. And then I moved on from there
- 5:25to working a little bit TV. And you know I started then a
- 5:30big TV. I think I was 17 got a full-time
- 5:33job. I was very excited and things
- 5:36have changed since. By the way has been an amazing
- 5:38journey working here has and the fact how long were you here?
- 5:4223 years? I longer than 23 years.
- 5:46I was 17. Yeah, and I think I was 21 when
- 5:49I phased out of the elevator. Be.
- 5:51So about five six years. Last, 56 years hamdulillah and
- 5:56August 2016. I saw of changed completely into
- 6:01why did so I was like heavily focus in Islamic media and it's
- 6:04amazing because at the same time I was serving the elevators like
- 6:07part of the fabric of what I enjoy and while of and the
- 6:10service that we have, this more importantly I have to focus on
- 6:14China and you know, Halal living and everything part of that.
- 6:17So I started my own business just prior to leaving anyway.
- 6:21ATV. And this was me being involved
- 6:23in information and Technology you know dealing with selling
- 6:27products and services to Mainland Europe, as well as the
- 6:29UK sometimes internationally to Gulf countries Etc.
- 6:33That's about what was interesting about my journey to
- 6:36where I am today is that I had a very amazing mentor and I'm very
- 6:40grateful to this Mentor until this very day and sometimes we
- 6:44speak almost every day to be honest, excluding weekends, but
- 6:48it is something that started a very long time ago.
- 6:51We still got it. Now to me just shows that the
- 6:54relationship that we had was never about money.
- 6:56The relaxing you say that because obviously never about
- 6:59money. Yeah.
- 7:00But money is obviously what you you have put a lot of your time
- 7:04interact, would you say that like the reason for your hard
- 7:07work? The reason for your growth was
- 7:09the primary goal of that money. When I say it wasn't about
- 7:14money. I'm talking about the mentor
- 7:17right? Helping me on my journey of
- 7:19running my own business. You honey for him, it was never
- 7:21about making money out of what I do.
- 7:24So that's why I just want to mention.
- 7:25I'm very grateful to that individuals and, you know, he's
- 7:29been he's been like a brother to me.
- 7:31Let's say that. If he does listen to this
- 7:33podcast, thank you so much. I'm not going to mention his
- 7:35name, but I'm very grateful to him.
- 7:38However, more importantly this right now, why do so You know,
- 7:42I'm still involved in the, you know, dealing with information
- 7:46technology sometimes computer computer parts but more
- 7:51importantly is about exporting things to Mainland Europe.
- 7:53So that's where I'm involved right now overlapping, what we
- 7:56do? Yeah.
- 7:56Yeah. Because you are I'm not just
- 7:59focused on one one. One single thing, of course.
- 8:01So this is like, this is my main thing.
- 8:03Why do my day-to-day job? At the same time I have other
- 8:05stuff that's going on in my life.
- 8:07This is helping out and other businesses such as you know,
- 8:10cake catering business as well as.
- 8:12As a gift than a business. So I'm involved in multiple
- 8:14multiple different projects that alhamdulillah.
- 8:17Allah, never disappoints. What's the phrase Allah of
- 8:21zirconium a liar's of calm? Yeah, I'm getting that runs.
- 8:25This is you've been of you. Hopefully you guys are growing
- 8:27with me on this journey to become fluidly speaking in
- 8:30Arabic and Jala. So we obviously talk about
- 8:32money. We talk about all our own
- 8:34Journeys are in growth. A lot of us have our own
- 8:36opinions and I think our own experiences when it comes to
- 8:40money and work. But let's talk about our
- 8:44upbringing and the relationship that we now have with our jobs
- 8:47and our society outside of the community and money.
- 8:51Because obviously there is a huge, huge overlap with finance
- 8:57and with Islamic living in the west, okay?
- 9:00Now many of our forefathers or I wouldn't say for forefathers,
- 9:03our parents grandparents, and so on, who came to the UK of
- 9:07course, came and established businesses and had to earn a
- 9:10Halal living to the nopsi support us.
- 9:12Us and take us to where we are. But our communities.
- 9:14I feel are very different. In terms of our own, both are
- 9:16ethnic communities, but generally the diversity and
- 9:19opinion, from many of the communities here in the UK and
- 9:22generally in the Western World. What was it like for you?
- 9:25Your community growing up and the relationship that your
- 9:28community had with money growing up and, you know, being part of
- 9:33a very not being pot. I was very involved in the
- 9:37community. So I was like part and parcel of
- 9:39the fabric of the community. So I was like, you know,
- 9:42Experienced and so everything in and out from them, and they
- 9:45wasn't really focused on about making money, which was
- 9:48interesting because, you know, you have to, you have to go, you
- 9:53have to go to work. Yeah.
- 9:54You have to earn and some money so you can live, but that wasn't
- 9:59really the main focus point. So for them, it was more about,
- 10:03you know, focusing heavily on religion and faith on quranic
- 10:07studies on how the studies the teachers of the debate, but they
- 10:10never ever actually really taught us.
- 10:12I told us there is something about, you know, money and you
- 10:15need to go to work. There wasn't really that Porsche
- 10:17maybe it's because in the early days the focus was especially
- 10:21with respect to the rocky Community because a lot of the
- 10:23Iraqi Community came here as other refugees or fleeing from
- 10:27from a dealer. The time that maybe the goal was
- 10:30that we've come here unknowingly against our will.
- 10:33In some cases you've been allocated by the UN the country
- 10:36to go to and we need to stay close.
- 10:41Hold tight to the Rope of Allah as we are told in the Holy Quran
- 10:44and we are told to keep our faith.
- 10:46So maybe the goal was to set up this llama community and not to
- 10:49worry about integrating as much. Yeah.
- 10:52As and I'm not saying that the community wasn't, you know,
- 10:55worried about the future of the community, you know, when the
- 10:58young is grow up what they do, I think there were like you said,
- 11:01very focused on making sure you know, the foundations are set
- 11:05because you know my community the majority of them I think
- 11:07they came in the 80s. Yeah.
- 11:09But a lot of them came in the early 90s.
- 11:11So you know they were Fleeing like persecution in Iraq Saddam.
- 11:15And you know, they weren't for all of these trials and
- 11:18tribulations. Shall we say that when we came
- 11:19here there is really wasn't focusing on.
- 11:22For example, shall I set up a business?
- 11:24Should I look for employment? They were just talking about
- 11:26settling down in a safe environments because of course I
- 11:30think now our communities of have developed some communities.
- 11:33I think I've come a long way. Some haven't, of course
- 11:36different communities. So my community for example, the
- 11:39cultural Community was I think really Just in the United
- 11:42Kingdom in the 60s. So my grandfather mellow rest,
- 11:47his soul was the first and allow the first president of the first
- 11:52quarter mosque in Europe and I was in Peterborough remain.
- 11:54So I mean the goal in the early days was to establish a
- 11:57community center for people who come from the same background
- 12:00and so on the goal was not making money.
- 12:03Like you said. Yeah but now of course things
- 12:05have evolved and it's now nearly 60 years on from the
- 12:08establishment of the first center in the UK for my
- 12:11community and things have Aged but attitudes at times maybe
- 12:15haven't changed, or maybe there's a split in the way we
- 12:17approach these things. You know, you're very right.
- 12:21And our I think, you know not just my community best.
- 12:26Let's say mainly the community coming from the Middle East.
- 12:29Yeah, being from the Middle East.
- 12:30I think I've every right now I can talk, okay, don't nobody
- 12:33gets offended best, they never really changed their mindset or
- 12:38the way that they saw, shall I say.
- 12:42The future, right? They just saw as this is what we
- 12:44have. Let's not lose what we have now.
- 12:47So, as I touched on earlier, they were just really focused
- 12:49on, you know, religion fave studies, and Islamic Studies.
- 12:53Should I say? And they never really held a new
- 12:56workshops. They never really got an anyone
- 12:59from our side to come, talk to us about, you know, this is this
- 13:02is how money works or go go to university, get a degree, enter
- 13:07a career. So we never actually had the.
- 13:09So we actually found this ourself.
- 13:12So Me growing up. No one ever actually told me,
- 13:15oh, no, one actually from the community pushing me and said,
- 13:18you know what, what's your career path or no?
- 13:20One actually told me, you know, let's try getting in the best
- 13:23university possible or let's try.
- 13:25Hope you find employment. There was none of them that was
- 13:28not. In fact it was the very opposite
- 13:30and is I wouldn't say it's embarrassing to mention best.
- 13:35What they were mainly focused on before is, for example, not
- 13:39about reaching your maximum potential.
- 13:42How much you can earn the ways you can on money?
- 13:46But was more about how can you live comfortably around the
- 13:51welfare system? Sure.
- 13:52That they have here in the UK. So it was very, very, very
- 13:56strange for me because, you know, I'm friends with different
- 13:59different communities. So I see like their mentality is
- 14:02complete opposite to what the community I wasn't.
- 14:06By the way, the majority of my commute all that work.
- 14:08Let me just make that very clear and everyone's working.
- 14:10I'm the Lord all learning at the Halal live.
- 14:12Being. Thus, there wasn't any Porsche
- 14:14of you know, what? This is, how you go get a job.
- 14:17This is, this is, this is the courses or the apprenticeship.
- 14:19So, you know, the methods and the ways that you do to achieve
- 14:22XYZ, what it was all about. You know, if you want to settle
- 14:25down the government, only give this much money to help you
- 14:30either want to get too much into, of course, that's it.
- 14:32And it was always revolving around welfare, would you say
- 14:36that? So obviously, there's a Reliance
- 14:38on the well, there was, but, yeah.
- 14:39But that's the reason why they came as he when they came.
- 14:42The 10 like economic migrants course, there were, as I said,
- 14:45there were fleeing persecution in the wars in Iraq, Saddam, all
- 14:50of that. So their mentality stayed the
- 14:52same even like for their children.
- 14:55The think that's understandable. I'm not going to lie to you.
- 14:57I think there's there's there's logic in them, especially
- 15:01obviously in the early phases but that limits, you it does
- 15:04limit you but in the early days survival of the fittest.
- 15:07Yeah, that's the Kanye. So, yeah, and the in the
- 15:09beginning, our respected Elders, who came here.
- 15:12And maybe from your community but God bless them all by the
- 15:14way. Yeah, there's an amazing job.
- 15:16Raising an amazing kid. Yes, Hannah lot.
- 15:18I mean everything we have is the result of our parents and their
- 15:21own work and our grandparents may love decimal.
- 15:23But obviously speaking that the early days like we've I think we
- 15:26both found a commonality there is they had to hustle and they
- 15:29had to grind and they had to work hard to get anything going.
- 15:33Do you know what I mean? Now subhanallah who would have
- 15:36thought. If we had told our elders, 30 50
- 15:38years ago, did you know index many years were going to have
- 15:42Things we have societies. We're going to have
- 15:44organizations Charities making millions of dollars, supporting
- 15:47your Homeland, supporting your community, your family back
- 15:50home, who would have thought that we'd have had our community
- 15:52members in the highest positions in the most, you know, in most
- 15:57reputable companies worldwide or even earning their own
- 15:59businesses, running their own things but that involvement is
- 16:02is maybe something which want to explore and maybe you know
- 16:06specifically speaking. We want to talk about the
- 16:09concept of whether you can live Comfortably earn money get rich
- 16:14in the UK or in the west whilst being a Pious studious and hard
- 16:18work and Muslim do you go? I'm saying amazing.
- 16:20I don't I don't know if that's kind of whether you're seeing
- 16:24right now is just amazing because it just made me think.
- 16:27Yeah, that there are two extremes to this because you
- 16:30have one side that says, you know, you have to like stay on
- 16:35stay on your Dean. You have to go study how their
- 16:37you have to go, where the turbine you have to go preach
- 16:40the faith. Yeah.
- 16:41Then you have the Other Extreme. No, you have to go to work.
- 16:43You have to have a, you know, an endless night shifts to get 3
- 16:47jobs. It was like completely drops,
- 16:49there's no balance. Whereas, Islam actually always
- 16:53gives you an example of violence that work-life balance and if
- 16:57and the most amazing thing is being sure.
- 17:01We can look up to their little Bates.
- 17:03Hmm. What do they do during you know
- 17:06what always thought about, you know, the things that they did
- 17:08things that they preached, you know, the trials and
- 17:11tribulations that they face. But we never really talked that
- 17:13it actually had day jobs. Yeah, they were actually working
- 17:17so hard every single profits and every single member of the Hill
- 17:21bait actually working. It's surprising for many to hear
- 17:27because they're like, oh so you can actually work in actually be
- 17:29any mom. Also, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm
- 17:32gonna pin it on you if I might. Yeah give me an example.
- 17:35Let's say someone's listening, they having this this internal
- 17:38discussion and they think where can I see this?
- 17:41Because all I'm ever talk about my holy figures and the holy
- 17:43imams, the holy prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhe wassallam, is
- 17:46that they are religious preachers first and foremost.
- 17:48Mmm. How can how can we disprove that
- 17:50narrative? You've really put me on the spot
- 17:54here, but it's important that you have because, you know, you
- 17:57know, like I said, people only know the, the, a debate or the
- 18:01mmm, the only, you know, preaching and teaching about the
- 18:04faith. Best actually, we see our great
- 18:08prophet Muhammad sallallahu alehiwassallaam.
- 18:11He was actually working. He was a merchant.
- 18:14Yeah. And in fact, he was employed by
- 18:18his wife lady for. They just love a lot.
- 18:20So it just shows that I was wrong.
- 18:22Allah. The one that God sent down with
- 18:25Islam, that preached Islam, actually had a day job as a
- 18:29merchant so he'd go sell goods and buy goods and he was
- 18:34employed by her teacher. Yeah.
- 18:36And yes, it just goes to show that even lady had, you just had
- 18:39digital Island. She was an employer, not just an
- 18:43employee, she was an employer. So they were both working man
- 18:49woman and these are two very important figures care.
- 18:52Factors that we have in our think the key words are there is
- 18:55in my opinion, she an employer. Because even today, who would
- 18:59have thought in 2022, we still have not even just people within
- 19:03our community, but even in the western world who argue that
- 19:07women do not have the equal place in work that I meant to
- 19:11do, or should have just what I mean.
- 19:12The fact that even that even now there's a there's a gap in
- 19:15gender, pay Brosius in the Western World, subhanallah 2000.
- 19:20Nearly, you know, 1,400 Of the, holy prophet came with religion,
- 19:23and he was a classic example. He married a lady.
- 19:25Who's richer than him? Who employed him, who could
- 19:28literally fire him at any moment, which of course, she
- 19:31wouldn't have ended by the way. Do you know what's so beautiful
- 19:33about that marriage? What's that?
- 19:35He'll well, spread this phone, so had she not been working
- 19:39earning being an employer? I don't think Islam will be
- 19:45spread. Where is today?
- 19:46We know the holy prophet says, had it not been for the wealth
- 19:48of Khadija, the sort of Alia Islam, would've perished, and
- 19:52all you. Muhammad sallallahu alayhe
- 19:53wassallam also said something, which I love.
- 19:55This is something which I discovered like I did which I
- 19:58read maybe like a couple months ago now and I'm trying to think
- 20:02about it more frequently. The holy prophet says and this
- 20:07is paraphrasing and Hadith that your day should be split into
- 20:11four parts. One part for Allah subhanahu
- 20:15wa'ta'ala to focus on your spirituality.
- 20:17One part with your friends and with your family, the ones who
- 20:21you tell. Your closest and and deepest
- 20:24mistakes, too. So, the ones you trust one part
- 20:28for yourself to do, as you wish to have Leisure and to relax and
- 20:32to work on yourself being in your well-being.
- 20:35And the fourth part is to work and to and Halal living.
- 20:39And that's so critically important when we imagine that
- 20:41our day at the moment, like everyone talks about time
- 20:43management and motivational. Speaking, we caught up in this
- 20:45world about how to stop distractions screentime, all
- 20:50sorts of things that we're thinking about all the time.
- 20:52I'm and how to focus but it's simply in my opinion, is there
- 20:55Islam gives us the answer for that and how to how to manage
- 20:59our day-to-day? Yeah, I thought I we, we still
- 21:02have living examples today. Yeah.
- 21:04Because we have amazing Scholars, and people who let's
- 21:08say have a high caliber or show influence in Islam.
- 21:13Yeah, they actually have day-to-day jobs, of course, and
- 21:16they actually a, some of them run businesses.
- 21:18So, they are actually learning and preaching faith.
- 21:22At the same time, the earning and working hard so they have
- 21:25both and I think that's beautiful.
- 21:27It has. And so we can't really say you
- 21:30know can Islam not be compatible with work on the contrary, the
- 21:33opposite. Absolutely.
- 21:34But this is want to hear what you think at home.
- 21:36We want to hear. Is this something you agree with
- 21:39books, to be honest? Some of you may think that men
- 21:42and women should be treated or be paid differently, which I'm
- 21:46sorry to say, but I completely disagree with that, feel free to
- 21:50disagree with me. I wouldn't mind at all.
- 21:52And if you think, for example that the holy prophet was wrong
- 21:55to be employed. Let us know because we're going
- 21:57to come back at you because well we believe the holy prophet took
- 22:00of course the right path. We want to hear your thoughts
- 22:02upon sisters or what you think about this say.
- 22:04It is also interesting that you mentioned before when we talked
- 22:07about the community and you mentioned like workshops and you
- 22:10went you mentioned like a lot of things like that.
- 22:13This is interesting because now in this day and age we live in a
- 22:17post brexit Society. Yeah.
- 22:19Post coronavirus or you know in some would argue was doing that
- 22:21in the The repercussions of the pandemic, but now more than
- 22:25ever, there's a need to support one another.
- 22:27Okay? And the concept of supporting
- 22:28community business in your day-to-day, you must deal with
- 22:31so many, she our businesses and so I'm going to see our clients,
- 22:34I myself. You know, I line of work.
- 22:36I'm in is not a bias or whatever to any particular gender or race
- 22:41or ethnicity, but I have handle hundreds of clients of which,
- 22:45some of whom are from the community.
- 22:46I work with on Lamar, I work with Charities organizations and
- 22:49a lot of companies as well. But how do you Treat the, the
- 22:54concept of working with another Muslim because I find this a
- 22:59crazy discussion to be honest with you.
- 23:02I met 99% of the time I deal with non-muslims so I really
- 23:10haven't dealt with actually wants dealt with a someone who
- 23:14takes a group to hatch, okay? And it was a very bad experience
- 23:19that we had really, which was very surprising to me that Like
- 23:22you know, 99 percent of the time you've got these non-muslims
- 23:25that working with Ernie, then I had this one incident by someone
- 23:28who you look up to. Being a Muslim.
- 23:31I hope we actually had an issue. So for me, I haven't had any
- 23:36direct experience with the main job that I have working with
- 23:40Muslims best I when it comes to the other projects that I'm
- 23:43involved in. Oh man, it's 99 percent.
- 23:46I think Muslim and I would say at least 50 percent.
- 23:49I like she almost him. So there is, you know, that
- 23:52Community being involved and you are, you know, seeing how the
- 23:56community even treats a business, or how you can treat.
- 24:00Community. I don't know if that makes
- 24:02sense, of course, because a lot of, you know, we always want the
- 24:08community to help, you know, we always want the community to
- 24:11support a business or we want the community to facilitate ways
- 24:15for a business to prosper. But one thing the community
- 24:18always does is try to hustle. Hustle, would you mind?
- 24:24I know what you mean? Like, they feel like, because
- 24:28you are a Muslim own business. That they can pay you peanuts so
- 24:32that they're entitled to discounts or yeah.
- 24:35It is. I think like they think there's
- 24:37an automatic, right? Because they don't do that with
- 24:39a non-muslim business by the I guarantee you that because if
- 24:42they go to another Muslim business they're paying all the
- 24:45deprive the full price. In fact I think they're willing
- 24:47to pay even more but when it comes to you know dealing with
- 24:50Muslims businesses and customers Etc, quite the opposite is very
- 24:54with and I I genuinely try to avoid dealing with Muslim custom
- 24:59really huh? Okay, interesting.
- 25:01So, I've got one of the most hardest II.
- 25:05Gotta Love II, do get that. And I think because there's,
- 25:08I'll be honest, I have a few things to say on this, but I'll
- 25:10try and keep it brief because you're dealing with Muslim
- 25:12clients. You should be extra conscious of
- 25:14think. So, in my opinion, if you're
- 25:16buying from a non-muslim, like a service, or a product, do not
- 25:20expect any sort of preferential treatment, pay your full price,
- 25:23go above and beyond, and support your community.
- 25:26What's the problem with that? And if you're selling to a
- 25:29Muslim client, or Business support them.
- 25:32Give them a discount if you can. This is my opinion.
- 25:34Yeah, there's a Hadith as actually story if you don't mind
- 25:37me saying, said from my mother's really sure why it's a
- 25:41fascinating story. Holy mom employees a guy to work
- 25:44on his farm. Okay.
- 25:46So in the morning, this guy comes to the Imam and he's like,
- 25:49yeah, Mom, I'm ready to go. Let's start mom says, before we
- 25:52start, this is what I expect you to do.
- 25:54This is the work for the day to do on the farm.
- 25:56Let's say, for example, eight hours, I want you to work in mom
- 25:59says How much money do you want? And the guy says to the mom
- 26:04because I don't know. It's up to you talk about later.
- 26:07It's not big deal. Let me finish the work and then
- 26:09we'll speak your mom says no, let's agree, I figure now
- 26:12because if we don't either you will be underwhelmed by what I
- 26:16suggest or pay you at the end. I will be underwhelmed and say
- 26:19this guy's not done the work worthy of the mouth.
- 26:21Yeah. So the Imam, agrees a figure
- 26:23with him and the guy completes his work at the end of the day,
- 26:26the Imam comes to him, says you've done a great job.
- 26:28Thank you. This is your money.
- 26:30The guy says, thank you. I mom before he leaves, he
- 26:32counts the money just to make sure that he's not being given
- 26:35the wrong amount by mistake. And he finds that the Imam has
- 26:38given him more money. So he goes back to your mom,
- 26:41says you've paid me too much and the whole your mom says, no I
- 26:44haven't. He said we agreed this figure,
- 26:46you've given me another man and the holy Imam says to him a true
- 26:50lover of Allah, Subhan Allah. And his religion will always
- 26:53support more than they can, give more than they commit to.
- 26:55Essentially, I find that like an incredible philosophy to do to
- 26:59give to give More than what you can when you can, especially if
- 27:03you're supporting your own Community.
- 27:05I don't know why. Maybe we have a tendency in our
- 27:06community to try like you said in a hostel businesses as if
- 27:10we're entitled to something else or me out, bro, we have this
- 27:13culture. But as a dog, a me wrong, there
- 27:15are actually amazing. Amazing people out there, they
- 27:17actually want to support the work, they are in.
- 27:21Yeah, and we, you know, we thank them greatly for this of people
- 27:26because, you know, at the end of the day, any business,
- 27:28especially if you're like heaven, Involved in the
- 27:31community you sort of rely on the community to help you
- 27:34nourish. So you know there is the good
- 27:36the bad and ugly and all of this.
- 27:39And you know, you mentioned, how Imam Roba dealt with this in
- 27:43this employee. And it shows how important Islam
- 27:48is when it comes to such scenarios and Islam.
- 27:51Heavily focuses on workers rights, that we even have an
- 27:56eSATA to talk a whole, a whole section dedicated to how an
- 28:00Yeah, needs to treat this employee, whether it's paying on
- 28:03time, whether it's being the agreed amount for the work that
- 28:06they've done and what's even more beautiful, even goes
- 28:08further, in fact, it actually encourages you to if you run a
- 28:11business to have a business partner and it's amazing, it
- 28:16shows you how one should treat his business partner.
- 28:19Because you know, they say a lot of people by the way, they want
- 28:21the business that they just want to do it alone.
- 28:23One man band one-man band and then, you know, things go south
- 28:27and you think that is that's quite a lot about why people go
- 28:29alone. But why do you think it's Slum
- 28:30and specifically a mum mum sajjad encourages us that
- 28:34business partners. I I wish I know the answer to
- 28:39that. I really don't know.
- 28:40This is speaking from, you know, let's say someone who doesn't
- 28:46really know the answer why a mom with encourage such a think?
- 28:50There's I think, maybe cause he's showing you the importance
- 28:53of being involved with someone else you know.
- 28:56Because you know the Journey of making money, I don't think
- 28:59should be by Of yeah, it should be together.
- 29:03So be a pal cause you know, when you are together you can pull
- 29:05more resources, you can have more time, you can work double
- 29:08double the hours and you know, double that you get double the
- 29:11pay double, the road, wherever is, but it shows you that if
- 29:16something goes wrong, You got someone, you got someone to hold
- 29:20your balance, I think it's but you don't lose by having someone
- 29:24else. Like there's no chance of you
- 29:26losing your credibility in your dignity.
- 29:28So, for example, you the greed is taken into account because,
- 29:32you know, you have to share maybe the amount stop trying to
- 29:34touch about greed. Yes, there's a lot of people do
- 29:36alone because it's, they just want to make the money for
- 29:39themselves. That's a very important thing.
- 29:40I bought. By the way there are married
- 29:42people. Yeah, I have to mention this.
- 29:44There are, there are married people where the husband is out
- 29:48his work. I think the money works just for
- 29:51him. Yeah, I we're gonna get into
- 29:54this because I really want to talk about this the concept of
- 29:57marriage and finance. Yeah, is a huge discussion to
- 29:59have, but just before we get to that, I think it's important
- 30:02thing. You mentioned the partnership
- 30:03thing which is to me is fascinating subhanallah and I'm
- 30:05really glad that yeah business. I'm involved with, I really
- 30:08encourage the viewers and listeners to this podcast to
- 30:11actually go go online, search Recital Hall and go to the
- 30:14employment section and you were down below.
- 30:16If you can, if anyone's listening, please put down the
- 30:19other hook down in the comments so we can all And will benefit
- 30:22inshallah even covers things, for example.
- 30:24If you fall in ill health, yeah, and you can no longer, you know,
- 30:27go to work, your partner steps in on your behalf.
- 30:32It's amazing Jamar together, so many advantages, you think about
- 30:37it, so I don't know. And there's an interesting thing
- 30:40I wanted to mention before we get to marriage.
- 30:42Is when we talk about Islam and business.
- 30:45Yeah, I told you this before when we, when we were speaking
- 30:49for me personally speaking, I feel like there's so So many
- 30:52takeaways in religion which you can apply to your business.
- 30:55Yeah. And so many takeaways from
- 30:57business which you can apply to religion, what I mean.
- 31:00So for example, we talked about greed in Islam, we're taught not
- 31:04to be greedy. We're taught not to not to
- 31:06indulge in lavish luxuries and so on and so forth.
- 31:09Not to be extravagant, applying that to businesses are very
- 31:11important thing, having Financial control being money
- 31:14minded, when it comes to managing your finances, you then
- 31:17apply that to your business. When you for example in Islam
- 31:19you've talked to be modest and in the way you show You'll
- 31:22wealth you're taught to be honest.
- 31:25In the way you deal with people, not cheat, lies land, and so on
- 31:28and so forth that greatly helps you in business in business,
- 31:31when you're taught, for example, deadlines, you need to meet a
- 31:35deadline. Does that not helping Islam when
- 31:36you need to meet a deadline for prayer?
- 31:38I sense. No.
- 31:39What do you say that was? That was the first thing.
- 31:41First, you have to keep your customers, our customers, always
- 31:49right? They say have to be truthful,
- 31:51you have to be truthful. All you have to do, not rip
- 31:53people off. Do you know what I mean?
- 31:55So like I think there's so many advantages and whether you're
- 31:58working a nine-to-five or whether you're running a
- 31:59business or both some people have a hybrid, these are
- 32:03applicable tools, perhaps that we can apply to both areas of
- 32:05our of our life and did a, I fully agree with you and the and
- 32:09the points you mentioned. And I interjected interjected
- 32:12there for a second and I mentioned being truthful.
- 32:14Yeah. Is that?
- 32:14Because, you know, we live in a world where, you know, when you
- 32:17run your own business, competition is crazy.
- 32:20Yeah, and you know, you have to compete With everyone.
- 32:23And, you know, sometimes the market is saturated, and
- 32:24everyone's fighting over that one pound that one pens just to
- 32:27be as competitive for the business as possible.
- 32:30And that's when a lot of people start lying and you you sort of
- 32:36manipulate, you know, the product and service you're
- 32:39giving and you're lying you to customers and clients and this
- 32:41is where you're not truthful. And unfortunately we see this a
- 32:45lot. Also, the Muslim businesses,
- 32:48I've experienced some and If we take, for example, you know,
- 32:54during stop this podcast, we mentioned rasool Allah as an
- 32:57example. The lumps illallah, Muhammad Ali
- 32:59Muhammad, he was known as article.
- 33:00I mean, yeah and he was an employee so if we can look up to
- 33:04him and try to be a solder and I mean, as him I think we can
- 33:09reach reach the stars and honestly, bro, to be to be
- 33:13really Frank if the goal for business is to make money and
- 33:17that is the end and not a means to the end.
- 33:21Then we have an issue. Yeah, because we've not in
- 33:23business to make money, we're in business, to make money, to use
- 33:25the money feasibly, the low, and obviously, our goal is to uplift
- 33:29people around us. Like Absalom, I did and of
- 33:32course like say the khadijah's did as well Salam Allahu Allah.
- 33:35And of course, the the important thing for us to consider is that
- 33:38once that money comes in, even if it's a smaller amount or a
- 33:41bigger amount, use it to support others to invest it into other
- 33:45projects, other businesses, which are going on and charity.
- 33:47Most importantly. And that's something I wanted to
- 33:49speak about as well is that, you know, if if you are, you know,
- 33:53running your own business. Yeah, you know, the finances.
- 33:57I think there's a huge difference between someone
- 33:59owning their own business and someone working for someone, you
- 34:02know, you might be limited with how much you can earn if you're
- 34:04working for, you're working as an employee.
- 34:07But if you're working for yourself, the opportunities are
- 34:10just endless endless. You know, you have mashallah
- 34:14many, many doors open. You just need to find the right
- 34:16ones, I'll get into that in just a little bit.
- 34:18So I wanted to mention is that if you are making money, yeah,
- 34:21you can. Put that money into the
- 34:23community. Of course, you know, we lacked,
- 34:26we lacked growing up, you know, these workshops and relax.
- 34:30You know, these tutors and mentors and people helping us,
- 34:36you know going to like which career path do we take about if
- 34:38we as business owners can take a small percentage and give
- 34:44towards this in the community, I think the community will change
- 34:47over. And something also want to
- 34:50mention is that a lot of business owners.
- 34:52Is have money, they have money best.
- 34:57They don't show that they have money.
- 35:00Hmm, you can give silently. I do people really just add on
- 35:05them to know why do or you know. I I don't want to call and say I
- 35:10want to donate this x amount because they're going to do has
- 35:12had on me and things that people have this like mentality best.
- 35:16If you take that money and you give fisa Bill along the way of
- 35:19Allah maybe not for workshops. Maybe someone to give to his
- 35:21charity. Yeah.
- 35:22If you give God will give you 10 times more and tried and tested.
- 35:26It's interesting because now in the Western World being having
- 35:30CSR Corporate social responsibility has become
- 35:32fashionable. Hmm.
- 35:33So for companies, now in the Western World csrs, becoming a
- 35:36big deal, in some ways is ethically liable on these
- 35:39companies to do that. So, it's interesting as well
- 35:41because now, as business owners, we have the opportunity to
- 35:45actually publicize it and put the responsibility on us, and
- 35:48tell the public that we, as a business support, the orphans or
- 35:52in Africa, or in the Middle East, or anywhere else.
- 35:54We as a business or supporting homelessness in the UK or
- 35:57whatever it is. And when you put yourself out
- 35:58there, you can't backtrack, you know what I mean.
- 36:01Mama said that Islam has Hadith where he says the key to every
- 36:06every everything in Islam, every door in Islam has a key and the
- 36:09key to wealth and sustenance is to give charity.
- 36:12So if you as a business owner, want to make more money, you
- 36:15want to live comfortably, I don't think there's anything
- 36:16wrong in living comfortably, give more money, the whole
- 36:20concept. So I said I was going to say the
- 36:22whole concept of homes which obviously will I'm sure one day
- 36:25we can have a discussion on comps because that's like a
- 36:26massive one. But the concept of homes is your
- 36:29support other people. But you don't understand the
- 36:31finance, the economics of Allah. To Allah, we don't understand
- 36:34the metrics that Jenna uses and having uses when it comes to
- 36:38reward and Amplified my economics and have, she said,
- 36:41what I mean, and that giving homes will support us as human
- 36:45beings, as Muslims. And, of course, support those in
- 36:47need, you know, there was once I heard I can't remember, which
- 36:49lecture was was speaking, and he mentioned a very poor was a
- 36:53point that just like I was like, wow, it's so true.
- 36:56It was like if everyone actually paid there's a cards.
- 37:00There would be no hunger, no, on the card goes towards purposes,
- 37:05like this. And if anyone paid their fair,
- 37:07share They'll be no issues around the world and be a
- 37:11charity. Be it.
- 37:12You know, what's interesting? And I know I keep saying we need
- 37:15to talk about marriage, but I want to I want to say one last
- 37:18thing or maybe ask you one last thing.
- 37:20Nowadays I'm sure there's a lot of people who are not doing so
- 37:24well financially. Yeah and some people were not
- 37:26may not be working. Some people may be working but
- 37:29struggling to pay bills or even support their families.
- 37:32What do you have to say to them? Because I think everyone has
- 37:36been through that phase or was going through that phase and The
- 37:38stands that there are rocks along with the journey to see
- 37:41what I mean. What do you have to say to them
- 37:43about trust in God and about, you know, why me in particular,
- 37:47but I'm not speaking to anyone else who are fair enough.
- 37:56I'll share something, you know. Before getting married.
- 38:04My life was completely different to.
- 38:05Well, my life is after I got married.
- 38:07So you know before I got married I was always worried about no
- 38:11worry. People used to worry me saying
- 38:13are you sure you want to get married?
- 38:14You know, cuz this financial responsibility and then you have
- 38:18to pay the rent then you have to, you know, pay the bills.
- 38:21And then you know they build your whole and they try scale
- 38:24away but no, no one really told you, you know.
- 38:27There's a lot as you know, he's right there and I remember
- 38:32saying to myself look like I'm having like this personal
- 38:35conversation with the last panel, Tyler may be my first
- 38:37time, my wife will have this and if she watches this podcast and
- 38:44I told God look, I've been told xy's it, but yeah, I grew up
- 38:51knowing that you are the provider.
- 38:54You are the sustainer. You want that razak.
- 38:56You want all of this thing. If I take the step, that means I
- 39:00have full to work. and on you and that torkoal was very
- 39:05important because the day after minor car, my life changed I'm
- 39:11not joking. I couldn't agree more marriage,
- 39:15same thing. I think for me as well, hello
- 39:17friends, same stories, I have really don't want to get married
- 39:21because they feel there. Is this financial burden?
- 39:24Yeah, I mean and I encourage someone.
- 39:27Yeah, during covid to get married.
- 39:29He got married. Now, he's running two
- 39:31businesses. By the way, was I, when you have
- 39:33this talk, God is telling you, you know, if you are not saying
- 39:36were poor Handler, best got the standing.
- 39:39You basically, if you are not one off, I will look after you
- 39:43of course, very clearly. So if you have that, what
- 39:46calling God is going to give it to you.
- 39:49Hmm, it's interesting when we talk about tawakkal and the
- 39:54concept of trust in Allah the for those who like many of us
- 39:59struggle to grasp, what tawakkal is that analogy, which is given
- 40:03in many of the rawai odds is along the lines of the bird who
- 40:07leaves the nest in the morning to find food to bring back to
- 40:11his little baby. Birds but doesn't have
- 40:13conviction that there's actually any food to bring back, so they
- 40:16leave their kids behind that. Leave the babies in the nest but
- 40:19they leave their home that are bowed to find something.
- 40:22But they trust in Allah that they will find something to
- 40:24bring back and it always do soprano.
- 40:26And that is just a small, very basic analogy for us to
- 40:29understand that we have to trust in a lot of pain to Allah.
- 40:31Whether we are running a business, whether we're employed
- 40:34whether we're looking for employment, whether we're
- 40:35struggling financially, that if we put in the effort, the work
- 40:40and and and And the commitment I lost $1 will provide and the
- 40:44same. I think goes to marriage.
- 40:47And once you are married, of course, Allah will provide, and
- 40:49there will be really hard days. There will be tears.
- 40:52There will be struggles. They'll be sacrifices made.
- 40:54There will be things that you see.
- 40:55Other people, other couples doing what you wish you could
- 40:57do. I think all all married couples
- 40:59have been or are going through the sort of phase and the
- 41:02important thing is to understand that you guys are are in this
- 41:05together and it's a joint effort, and I want is I joined
- 41:10up. Yeah, that's, that's this.
- 41:12Especially this day and age. Yeah.
- 41:13And you know, let's say, you know, majority of the time is
- 41:19mainly, the guy, the man who's actually do most of the work
- 41:23outside of the house. Yeah.
- 41:24Best at this day and age there's no problem with your wife
- 41:28walking, there's no problem. But would you say that there's a
- 41:30bigger responsibility on the mint?
- 41:33Aslam Italy responsibility relies on land.
- 41:35Correct? Yes but there is no harm and it
- 41:39is not Haram. Let's make that clear for the
- 41:41wife to go work. I will not 10/10 asking the wife
- 41:45to come provide for the house if she does.
- 41:47That's amazing and I'm sure a lot of reward about that best.
- 41:50She can also go out to work. A lot of people like they
- 41:52restrict themselves to like Financial struggle because they
- 41:56don't want their wife working so hard on on the country as well.
- 42:02The wife can Chuck and she islamically speaking.
- 42:06As far as I understand, can keep that money for herself.
- 42:09If I'm not mistaken, you have no right to it.
- 42:12You have as a husband. No, right, no.
- 42:14Right to it. But she has a wife has right to
- 42:16the money that you make as a husband currently.
- 42:18They could provide that that there's a responsibility upon us
- 42:21as men to provide for our families.
- 42:23But at the same time, we live in a day and age now where you
- 42:26could be earning and you could be taxed, 40% 45% and on top of
- 42:30that, you've got council tax on the rise energy bills on the
- 42:32rise. Rent on the rise, car payments
- 42:35fuel, whatever it is, we all know the story, but, you know,
- 42:38and then at the end of the day, you'll struggling.
- 42:40So it's a very helpful as a struggle that compromise.
- 42:43And, and that teamwork is so important.
- 42:46And of course, that's becomes back to community as well.
- 42:48Like your community should be supporting.
- 42:50You never know what someone in your community is going through
- 42:52back your brothers and sisters because if they're running a
- 42:54business, buy from them, you know why buy from a mainstream
- 42:59designer label when you've got a Muslim brother or sister who's
- 43:02got And a clothing line, which you could be some, you're not a
- 43:05man. You just mentioned the community
- 43:06now. And then start, we mention the
- 43:08community. I think it's only fair that we
- 43:09re mentioned the community at this point, because we're
- 43:13talking about some people having financial difficulties.
- 43:15Yes, important, that anyone is facing any hardship, financial
- 43:18hardship, some people are married and they're shy to say
- 43:22that. I can't provide for the home or
- 43:25someone when you is very unmanly.
- 43:27For someone to say, I'm not earning a living or be
- 43:30considered on man. Yeah, but it's very important.
- 43:33That the community is open to this idea that there are people
- 43:37struggling and they need to have the door open, Johnny, if I am
- 43:43struggling with something this month, maybe next month, I'm not
- 43:46struggling. But that one month that they
- 43:48can, if I can rely on my community to support support me
- 43:52temporarily until I get back into employment, for example,
- 43:56that will change so much people's lives.
- 43:57And this is how important a community is.
- 44:00And I think it's only fair that I can mention the Jewish
- 44:02community Hmm, with credit terms with credit to the way that, you
- 44:08know, they handle their finances.
- 44:10There's one thing that is so good and that's supporting the
- 44:14community whether it's a community members supporting
- 44:17community business or the business partner Community
- 44:19member cyclical. Yeah, it is very rare to find
- 44:25anyone from any Jewish Community wherever on the world Canada.
- 44:29UK here to see anyone struggling struggling financially, that
- 44:33Unity. And I'm not saying they have
- 44:35different blessings, but it's the way that the Affairs of
- 44:38community or handled that everyone in the community is
- 44:41looked after. So in and they have every
- 44:43opportunity possible cause they're like, number one when it
- 44:46comes to, you know, having the best mentors number one when it
- 44:50comes to having the best workshops when it comes to
- 44:53finance accounting all Edition which are very important and
- 44:56that's something we lacking. I'm not saying we should look up
- 44:59to all the communities, I believe we have our own, you
- 45:02know. Goods and bad's wherever it is
- 45:04beautiful. We can learn, we can learn
- 45:07lessons. We can learn from from from
- 45:08other communities on how to empower our community.
- 45:11I agree, I agree. And in terms of maybe solutions
- 45:15from our community. First, I want to say one
- 45:17sisters, comment down below. What are your Solutions?
- 45:20What do you think we can do? More of, where can we as people
- 45:23and as a community support each other and of course, on that
- 45:26little bit TV. If you're if you're if you're
- 45:27new to the channel to podcast check it out because there's a
- 45:30lot of business content on the channel as well and on the
- 45:32YouTube. Age and maybe for us kind of
- 45:35within the communities there's things which come to mind.
- 45:37So I'll talk about in terms of my local Center which I'm very
- 45:40grateful for. Hmm, we have a business
- 45:42directory, which is incredible. So hundreds of businesses run by
- 45:47our community who are in various Fields, tradespeople services.
- 45:51So on so forth. Of course, that's an important
- 45:54thing. Workshops, you mentioned careers
- 45:56fairs, very important exhibitions.
- 45:59So, for example, if you're, if you're advertising a product
- 46:01invite the public give out freebies, give out.
- 46:03Samples and so on and and seavey's.
- 46:06So for a big one is a big, big one is support.
- 46:08People who didn't see these. How many of you at home are in a
- 46:12working World, You released in an industry, you could be in
- 46:16anything, you could be in a labor-intensive role and you may
- 46:19feel, I don't know if I can help, but if there are people
- 46:21who are applying to a role which maybe some of the jewels Back
- 46:24Him, support them, help them with their CV, help them get
- 46:27interviews hopping at internships.
- 46:28This is what we should be doing. And finally as well as I'm going
- 46:31to say specifically to those who are Doing well or inshallah have
- 46:34the near to do, well, and who will be doing well, in years to
- 46:36come find any means possible to back, younger brothers, sisters,
- 46:41those who are in their early teenage years, help them
- 46:44understand the world of taxes, the world of Finance.
- 46:46What is this self-assessment tax return?
- 46:48Does anyone know we're taught that from a young age?
- 46:50What if I'm earning money on the side because then it affects
- 46:53your Halal and Haram. If I money earning money on the
- 46:55side that which is not declared, and I'm not declaring that and
- 46:58I'm not paying tax on that. Is that moral Ian, a right?
- 47:01Is it Halal know you need to pay Tax and as hard as it is just to
- 47:05admit and accept it Sergeant, you know, the, you know, the
- 47:09finally, talking about taxes. Now, the, you know this, you
- 47:13know, when you're on a business, the first question, anyone else
- 47:15you is, how do I pay less taxes? Yeah.
- 47:18The answer is pay your taxes and you get places but you know you
- 47:22can always find legal ways of reducing the amount of tax you
- 47:26pay which is all legitimate best.
- 47:28Don't focus on. Don't Focus about how to pay
- 47:30less just focus on running what caught up.
- 47:33Beep. Small of course the affair.
- 47:34Yeah, put that foot be smart. Look for the right Roots
- 47:37opportunities. And also the last thing I wanted
- 47:39to add to the list of recommendations which are which
- 47:43I don't know, what will any of them are?
- 47:45Good ideas. But grants is a big one.
- 47:47How many people in the community can give grants, you know, those
- 47:50the commuter I'm from, there's always this one person.
- 47:53Yeah, I'm bless him honestly, there he is outstanding since I
- 47:58was a kid. Like I remember they'd always
- 47:59share emails, really, they'll share these to be like, oh, I
- 48:03for one was back in the day before this whole social media
- 48:05is black online forums, one of them is to be like, see I see, I
- 48:09see let's be a part of the Forum itself not directly as in a, for
- 48:14remember being part of the online community.
- 48:17So it's to read, like all these people sharing links, contents
- 48:20forms, you know, contact this number speak to this person, x
- 48:23y, z, and that exist normally only by one individual.
- 48:27So you go Community with tens of thousands literally relying on
- 48:31like one person sharing All this knowledge.
- 48:34Yeah. And the community itself can
- 48:36actually like martial law the community or from ticks, all the
- 48:42boxes when it comes always room for improvement.
- 48:43There's of course and everything.
- 48:46Best is amazing to hear this and I hope it's endings.
- 48:49Your community becomes an example for the rest of the
- 48:52communities. You shall know.
- 48:53We can all get a stage Charla. We want to see our communities
- 48:56developed, like, you said, a welfare system where we don't
- 48:58have to go outside to look for support.
- 49:00If someone is struggling with their old age or if they're, you
- 49:02know, they're there. Do to whatever and they've lost
- 49:04a breadwinner wine. Why rely on The Wider society
- 49:08when we can rely on ourselves on our own?
- 49:10Hmm. Do you see what I mean?
- 49:11There are so many opportunities, you know, we talked about grants
- 49:14as well, there are people within the community who can afford to
- 49:17invest 1,000, 2,000. 5,000 10,000 pounds into a start-up
- 49:22and even just for the sake of, I believe this is a good project,
- 49:25A and B, it's a youth from the member of community or even if
- 49:29it's not, but it's a member of the community who needs the
- 49:32support, and I'm happy too. To be a shareholder.
- 49:34I'll make a financial benefit. I'll be I'll get dividends at
- 49:37the end of the year, for example, but these are things
- 49:39that we can look at as a community and maybe there's a
- 49:42way to strategize on it and our Business Leaders out there and
- 49:44Charlotte will come together and come up, you know what, I think.
- 49:47Well, what will be even more interesting is that, you know, I
- 49:50think, if business owners can all get together.
- 49:53Yeah, yeah. And they can actually start
- 49:55speaking to this young people and, you know, showing them the
- 49:59ways given them. Probably the problem is a lot of
- 50:04people ask questions and those who are answering the question
- 50:08they never show them the only tell them.
- 50:10So if we can have people that can actually show us the way,
- 50:14they'll be amazing because you know, when you run your own
- 50:19business, you know, the the the the opportunities are just like
- 50:25you don't really have so much restrictions, then if you are
- 50:28working for an employer. Yeah, when it comes to investing
- 50:33when it comes to, for example, you know, where you can spend
- 50:36your money, you know, how to reduce your taxes, legally, all
- 50:40of this, any, if someone can actually teach people, this,
- 50:43this is like by the oldest, Honestly, by the way, this is
- 50:47not just a problem in our community.
- 50:49This is a problem in the world. We're at schools.
- 50:52They teach you that you have to By the way, I'm not
- 50:55discouraging, despite the way that you have to go to
- 50:58university and get a degree and that's the only way you'll earn
- 51:02money, but they never teach you real time to teach you how to
- 51:06make mine. Yeah.
- 51:07Because if they did, they won't have a job because everyone
- 51:10everyone be working for themselves.
- 51:11I chose Vice weapons listening or watching to not go on YouTube
- 51:15and watch people talking nonsense because everyone's a
- 51:17financial advisor online by actually seek your own Financial
- 51:20legal advice. And look into this.
- 51:22I I encourage you to actually work For yourself?
- 51:25Absolutely. I think it's been a I think a
- 51:28great script. That's interesting if we could
- 51:30talk about for a long time. Yeah, you know yeah by the way
- 51:33there is so much we can talk about.
- 51:35Yeah. And I believe this could be
- 51:37maybe part one of my podcast where we can actually extend
- 51:41this conversation and actually give some tips and some
- 51:43solutions to the listeners and the viewers, it would be nice,
- 51:47it would be nice and of course, but let them tell us.
- 51:49They need to tell us because of course, this is a lot to share
- 51:52and I'm sure Hamid. Yeah.
- 51:54Why not wait, where's y'all? We're still on our journey to
- 51:57inshallah to success in business.
- 51:59We run businesses ourselves and by no means are we experts or,
- 52:04you know, like you said financial advisor or anything
- 52:07but maybe it's the relatability which you guys are looking for
- 52:11and hopefully we can bring that to you.
- 52:12So get in touch. Drop us a DM comment on the
- 52:16video below. If you're watching anywhere
