  I'm happy to be here today in the Missionary Assignment Room

  in the Church Administration Building in Salt Lake City, UT,

  where members of the 12 apostles and members of our Missionary
• 0:11
  Department staff come frequently to assign the many thousands of
• 0:16
  missionaries that are applying to serve all over the world.

  I come in the spirit of fasting and prayer, and our staff has
• 0:26
  prepared where the most urgent needs of all these missionaries
• 0:30
  are. And as some of you may remember,
• 0:32
  I spoke on this at a General Conference in 2010 when I told
• 0:38
  of the experience I had maybe in this very room with Elder Henry
• 0:44
  B Eyring at the time when we assigned missionaries.

  And I was given my first opportunity then to assign
• 0:52
  missionaries throughout the world prayerfully.
• 0:55
  We consider every one of them. We look at whether they've
• 0:59
  learned languages, we look at where their ancestors are from,
• 1:04
  and we read their priesthood leader comments.
• 1:07
  And in the spirit of prayer and fasting, we assign them to
• 1:11
  somewhere in the world that the Lord needs them to serve and
• 1:14
  that they're needed. And that's a great privilege for
• 1:17
  us. Every week I want to reassure
• 1:20
  everyone in the church that every missionary is called by
• 1:24
  the president of the church. He has assigned the quorum of
• 1:28
  the 12 that we assign every missionary.

  I testify to all of you that the process of doing this is
• 1:36
  inspired. It's revelatory and I love it
• 1:40
  with all my heart as I love all of you, especially those of you
• 1:45
  young people who are considering serving the mission at this very
• 1:48
  moment. May God bless us all in this
• 1:51
  great work of the gathering. I pray in the name of Jesus
