March 16 - The Freedom of Honest Confession · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 16th.
• 0:11
Words that build or break. Have you ever replayed a
• 0:14
conversation in your mind and wished you could take your words
• 0:17
back? Maybe it was something said in
• 0:20
anger, something sarcastic that landed harder than you meant.
• 0:24
Or maybe it was silence when you should have spoken truth.
• 0:28
Words can feel small when they leave our mouths, but they
• 0:30
rarely stay small. They echo, they shape
• 0:33
relationships. They reveal what is happening in
• 0:36
our hearts. Proverbs chapter 12, verses 13
• 0:40
to 14 says the wicked is ensnared by the transgression of
• 0:44
his lips, but the righteous escapes from trouble.
• 0:48
The mouth of the righteous man is a fountain of life.
• 0:51
What a contrast. One mouth becomes a trap and the
• 0:54
other becomes a source of life. That means our words are never
• 0:57
  neutral. They are either feeding
• 1:00
something good or strengthening something harmful.
• 1:03
Then Psalm chapter 32 verses one to two says blessed is the one
• 1:07
whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered, and in
• 1:12
whose spirit there is no deceit. That shows us another powerful
• 1:15
  truth. Freedom begins when honesty
• 1:17
begins. When we stop hiding, stop
• 1:20
pretending, and bring our sin to God.
• 1:22
Grace meets us there, and Job chapter 34 reminds us that God
• 1:27
is always just. He does not act wickedly, and
• 1:30
nothing escapes his authority. That matters because sometimes
• 1:35
we speak carelessly, then defend ourselves instead of confessing.
• 1:39
We blame stress, pressure, or other people.
• 1:41
But God invites us into a better way.
• 1:45
He calls us to speak truth, to own our wrongs, and to trust
• 1:48
that His justice is better than our need to control every
• 1:51
  situation. Honest confession is not
• 1:54
weakness. It is the doorway to peace.
• 1:57
Your words can wound, but by God's help, they can also heal.
• 2:01
They can encourage someone who feels unseen.
• 2:03
They can tell the truth with love.
• 2:05
They can admit wrong and rebuild trust.
• 2:08
And when life feels unfair, you do not have to lash out or live
• 2:11
resentful. You can rest in the fact that
• 2:14
God sees clearly, judges rightly, and leads faithfully.
• 2:18
Let your mouth become a fountain of life, not because you are
• 2:21
perfect, but because God is changing your heart.
• 2:24
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:28
your mercy, your justice, and your patience with me.
• 2:31
Help me to be careful with my words and honest about my
• 2:34
failures. Teach me to confess quickly,
• 2:37
speak truth lovingly, and trust You when life feels unfair.
• 2:40
Let my words bring life, peace, and healing to the people around
• 2:43
  me. In Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:47
What if the most important question in your life deserves
• 2:49
more than a shallow answer? Does God Exist is a powerful,
• 2:54
thought provoking series that explores reality, meaning, and
• 2:57
truth through reason, evidence, human experience, and scripture
• 3:01
  without preaching pressure or assumptions.
• 3:04
Book 1, Something from Nothing, confronts the mystery of
• 3:07
existence itself and asks why anything exists at all.
• 3:11
Book 2, The Cause Behind the Cosmos, examines the origin of
• 3:14
the universe and whether it points beyond itself.
• 3:17
Book 3, Design or Accident, wrestles with order and
• 3:21
complexity. Are they products of chance or
• 3:23
intelligence? Book 4, The Moral Signature,
• 3:26
explores why objective right and wrong may require a source
• 3:29
beyond human opinion. Book 5, The God We Cannot
• 3:32
Escape, considers conscience, longing, and humanity's
• 3:35
persistent awareness of God. Book 6, From Reason to
• 3:39
Revelation, asks whether the God who exists would also speak, and
• 3:43
Book 7, Denying God, examines the internal tensions of
• 3:46
unbelief and the deeper implications of rejecting the
• 3:49
  divine. Written in clear, accessible
• 3:51
language for seekers, skeptics, students, and curious minds,
• 3:55
this series invites honest reflection and careful thinking.

Proverbs Chapter 12 Verses 12 to 14 World English Bible The
• 4:18
wicked desires the plunder of evil men, but the root of the
• 4:21
righteous flourishes. An evil man is trapped by
• 4:24
sinfulness of lips, but the righteous shall come out of
• 4:27
trouble. A man shall be satisfied with
• 4:29
good by the fruit of his mouth. The work of a man's hands shall
• 4:33
be rewarded to him. Psalm Chapter 32 World English
• 4:37
Bible by David, a contemplative Psalm.
• 4:40
Blessed is he whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is
• 4:43
covered. Blessed is the man to whom
• 4:45
Yahweh doesn't impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no
• 4:48
deceit. When I kept silence, my bones
• 4:52
wasted away through my groaning all day long for day and night
• 4:55
Your hand was heavy on me, my strength was sapped in the heat
• 4:58
  of summer. Selah.
• 5:00
I acknowledge my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity, I
• 5:03
said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and
• 5:06
you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
• 5:08
Selah For this let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time
• 5:12
when you may be found. Surely when the great waters
• 5:15
overflow, they shall not reach to him.
• 5:17
You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from
• 5:20
trouble. You will surround me with songs
• 5:22
  of deliverance. Selah.
• 5:24
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall
• 5:26
go. I will counsel you with my eye
• 5:29
on you. Don't be like the horse or like
• 5:31
the mule which have no understanding, who are
• 5:34
controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to
• 5:37
you. Many sorrows come to the wicked,
• 5:40
but loving kindness shall surround him who trusts in
• 5:42
Yahweh. Be glad in Yahweh and rejoice
• 5:44
you righteous. Shout for joy all you who are
• 5:47
upright in heart. Job Chapters 34 to 35 World
• 5:51
  English Bible Moreoverly, who answered?
• 5:54
Hear my words, you wise men, give ear to me, You who have
• 5:57
knowledge, for the ear tries words as the palate tastes food.
• 6:01
Let us choose for us that which is right.
• 6:03
Let us know among ourselves what is good.
• 6:05
For Job has said, I am righteous.
• 6:08
God has taken away my right, notwithstanding my right, I am
• 6:11
considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I
• 6:14
am without disobedience. What man is like Job, who drinks
• 6:18
scorn like water, who goes in company with the workers of
• 6:21
iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
• 6:23
For he has said it profits a man nothing that he should delight
• 6:27
himself with God. Therefore listen to me, you men
• 6:30
of understanding. Far be it from God that he
• 6:33
should do wickedness from the Almighty that he should commit
• 6:36
iniquity for the work of a man. He will render to him, and cause
• 6:39
every man to find according to his ways.
• 6:42
Yes, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the
• 6:45
Almighty pervert justice who put him in charge of the earth, or
• 6:49
who has appointed him over the whole world.
• 6:52
If he set his heart on himself, if he gathered to himself his
• 6:55
spirit and his breath, all flesh would perish together, and man
• 6:58
would turn again to dust. If now you have understanding,
• 7:02
hear this, listen to the voice of my words.
• 7:05
Should even one who hates justice govern, will you condemn
• 7:08
him who is righteous and mighty? Who says to a king vile or to
• 7:11
nobles wicked? He doesn't respect the persons
• 7:14
of Princess, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for
• 7:17
they all are the work of his hands.
• 7:19
In a moment they die. Even at midnight the people are
• 7:22
shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away
• 7:25
without a hand, for his eyes are on the ways of a man.
• 7:29
He sees all his goings. There is no darkness nor thick
• 7:32
gloom where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
• 7:35
For he doesn't need to consider a man further, that he should go
• 7:38
before God in judgement. He breaks mighty men in pieces
• 7:42
in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
• 7:46
Therefore he takes knowledge of their works.
• 7:48
He overturns them in the night so that they are destroyed.
• 7:51
He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others,
• 7:55
because they turned away from following him, and wouldn't pay
• 7:58
attention to any of his ways, so that they caused the cry of the
• 8:01
poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the
• 8:04
afflicted. When he gives quietness, who
• 8:06
then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then
• 8:09
can see him? He is over a nation or a man
• 8:12
alike. That the godless man may not
• 8:14
reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
• 8:17
For has any said to God, I am guilty, but I will not offend
• 8:20
anymore? Teach me that which I don't see.
• 8:23
If I have done iniquity, I will do it.
• 8:25
No more shall his recompense be as you desire that you refuse
• 8:28
it. For you must choose, and not I
• 8:30
therefore speak what you know. Men of understanding will tell
• 8:33
me. Yes, every wise man who hears
• 8:35
  me. Job speaks without knowledge.
• 8:38
His words are without wisdom. I wish that Job were tried to
• 8:41
the end because of his answering like wicked men.
• 8:44
For he adds rebellion to his sin.
• 8:47
He claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against
• 8:50
God. Moreover, Elihu answered, do you
• 8:52
think this to be your right, or do you say my righteousness is
• 8:56
more than God's? That you ask, What advantage
• 8:59
will it be to you? What profit will I have more
• 9:01
than if I had sinned? I will answer you and your
• 9:04
companions with you. Look to the skies and see.
• 9:07
See the skies which are higher than you.
• 9:09
If you have sinned, what effect do you have against Him?
• 9:12
If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to
• 9:14
him? If you are righteous, what do
• 9:16
you give Him, or what does He receive from your hand?
• 9:19
Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your
• 9:22
righteousness may profit a Son of man.
• 9:25
By reason of the multitude of oppressions.
• 9:27
They cry out, they cry for help, by reason of the arm of the
• 9:30
mighty. But no one says, Where is God my
• 9:33
Maker, who gives songs in the night, who teaches us more than
• 9:36
the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of
• 9:39
the sky? There they cry, but no one
• 9:42
answers because of the pride of evil men.
• 9:44
Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the
• 9:47
Almighty regard it. How much less when you say you
• 9:50
don't see Him, the cause is before Him, and you wait for
• 9:53
Him. But now, because he has not
• 9:55
visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard
• 9:58
arrogance. Therefore, Job opens his mouth
• 10:01
with empty talk and he multiplies words without
• 10:04
knowledge. Thanks for joining us on Bible
